Note: Philly Originals does deliver but only during weekdays from 11AM to 1:30PM. Their policy: "With a minimum $30.00 order up to two miles. Over two miles, one sandwich for each additional mile."
Beaver, PA has one spiffy main business drag, and Philly Originals is one of its many highlights. In search of unpretentious, cheap eats early on a Saturday afternoon, we arrived at last to Philly Originals and left satisfied.
Of course they have an array of other handheld eats referred to as the Bill of Sandwiches on the menu, but their Philly Cheesesteak is the star and deservedly so.
Legit, chopped sirloin steak, real-deal, gluey provolone cheese, onions, mushroom, and green peppers just jam together inside a hefty Breadworks bun. Like any good sandwich of the street, it will fight back. The draw of the sandwich is too great to allow it cool off before chowing down. The hot cheese wraps around your tongue and burns you. The roll is tough, giving your jaw muscles a workout. The veggies snap. The meat jumps out of your mouth and onto the plate.
One thudly sandwich, when you're done with it, you'll feel like you traveled to Philadelphia, went the distance with Brock Lesnar in the octagon, and came back with ten pounds of gold around your midsection.
Philly Originals falls one tick short of a perfect rating for a saccharine, sodden cole slaw. Get the potato salad instead if you need a side dish. Although I've had better, it has sweet pickles in it and ain't bad at all.
Who needs long road trips to Philly when Philly Originals is less than an hour from Pittsburgh?
