Overall a good philly cheesesteak I used to come here years ago and I was feeling like a philly cheesesteak and did not want to drive to far so I decided to try El Cajon Philly Steak Subs again first off the philly cheesesteak was good meat cheese ratio was good the meat was seasoned well the roll was toasted on the inside but not the outer part the French fries are steak fries and are good it was $20 for a philly cheesesteak and fries. If your in El Cajon and have jury duty it's right next to the courthouse you should pick up lunch

My first time coming here and I’m glad that I did. I have it 4.5 stars because nothing is perfect but God🏆 I will be back

If you're looking for an authentic, Philly steak sandwich, look no further These guys make each sandwich to order and everything is fresh and delicious. Don't get me started about the fries. You could order them plain or I understand you can order them Philly style. Going to have to try that next time. Let me know what you think of this. Fabulous local spot

Pretty close to a real Philly Cheesesteak. You have to tell them to remove the mayo, lettuce, and tomato 🍅 since a classic philly doesnt have that. They carry Pennsylvania Dutch root beer and tasty cakes. Both philly area items. Owner is a social guy with friendly personality.

You be the judge, While the turkey was Just okay, ( because? I Asked for double turkey and they put only what I Assume was a normal amount, Good though as That was in taste ) But I asked for Avocado on it, and , if you look Real hard, might use a microscope, you'll see the barely a swath across the bottom, which , was not only defended by the acting " manager " as " the normal " amount but the owner " Danny " said the same thing Not!! " The Normal " amount applied by even Subway. Go somewhere else

The Philly cheese steak here is legendary! One of my favorite places to eat here in San Diego and this place is my go to spot when ever I'm in El cajon. Honestly one of the best sandwiches I've ever had out of everywhere I have ever been

Just ordered a 10in. cheese steak with the works, no avocado, add jalapeños. Tried to save half for later but It was too good to save, best cheese steak I've had. If you're thinking about going, just go, won't regret it.

This is the old school best place in EC for a Philly cheese steak. They will customize it however you like and we did the works w mayo and avo on the side. Simply delish, try the steak fries cause they're a meal by themselves.

Tasty food, reasonable prices. Everything is made fresh to order. Consequently, it isn't super fast. The food is worth it, just plan for a little wait.

I may not have had a good experience but I have heard a lot of good things. The sandwich I had was unfortunately very dry, the meat was super overcooked, the cheese was minimal. I'm giving it 2 stars only because colleagues have liked it so I don't think my experience was the norm. But the lack of consistency is not redeeming either Service was nice and quick, the restaurant itself is cool!

Love these steaks. I love that you can customize them and the fact it's wrapped in foil so it's always hot when u get it home. Owner super nice

I'm went here with my autistic teen after a doctors appointment because he loves Philly cheesesteak. The customer service was the best! My son wanted his order different from what was offered and they accommodated him with no hesitation. The atmosphere was laid back, comfortable and friendly. We will definitely be returning customers when we are close by. Thank you!

The good is good and a nice portion. The decor is cool and gives a nice hole in the wall feel. This is a good local place to get a sandwich.

Five people waiting for their order when we walked in. They had one cook making the subs, which took way too long. Our wait was about 45 minutes for two subs! People before us complained about the wait. Haven't been here in a while and dont remember waiting this long.well we finally got our subs and they were ok. Wished they would have melted the cheese more, it would have made the difference. Cashier was very nice.

I want to update my review. The food is delish. The owner and staff are great guys. The place is casual, with the game on and friendly conversation and good Philly style subs. So, regarding my prior words, well,... that most likely was written by my idiot alter ego who was obviously being a dork thinking he was the only one who ordered food that day and... uh, anyway moving on, I still go there and will continue to order their subs while avoiding the rush. When there is a crowd, you know the food is good... so you can pretty much ignore that previous whiney entitled commentary and enjoy a Philly with root beer. Cheers!

I've been goin' to "Philly's" since we moved to El Cajon in 2018. I can truly say that they don't miss a beat when comes down to your order, the quality & quantity of the food they provide. The mobile apps saves you 15% on an online order too ! Ma, from the macaroni & the potato salad, the taste is awesome !! Oh & please don't leave the place without these [2] additional items: The "Hanks" sodas which have a variety of flavors to melt your taste buds & the "Dirty" potato chips . Love this spot, and it's one of my go-to lunch break choices when I'm working over in the East County area. I'm not Philly cheesesteak sandwich connoisseur by any means being from San Diego and all, but I can still recognize a spot for having good food and service. Parking can sometimes be a hassle as they have a small lot, but typically it is not a problem. Ambiance-wise: the vibes here are pretty old school in a good way with their decor and assortment of movie pictures and artists. Service-wise: I haven't had a bad experience here in terms of my interactions with the workers, long waits, or blown orders. The owner has always been really cool and makes good conversation. Last time I was here, the owner was telling my about their sandwich challenge which was super intriguing so I may give it a shot soon if it's still a thing. Food-wise: Portions here are pretty large per order. I really like the Philly cheesesteak here even if it doesn't stack up to those from Philly. They have other options for sandwiches but I personally have not ordered them yet. My usual is the Philly cheese with the works, steak fries, and a soda and I oftentimes find it difficult to stray from that when I make the trip here because it is a solid no-frills about it combo. In summary: I come back here a decent amount and always leave satisfied, so I definitely recommend anyone to give it try. I would just say don't come in with high expectations for anything IG-friendly or expect something that will blow you out of the water. Coming here, it's simple, consistent, and gets the job done in a satisfying manner.

I am so lucky to have stumbled across this small family owned shop. I had a really bad craving/phase for getting subs and cheesesteaks and this is one of the two places that I visit. On here in east county and another in north county. The food here is really tasty and it seems like a very friendly local place. Lil hard for some people to realize it's here but the location is very easy to get to. Right behind police station. Owner is very friendly as well and I have my go to 10In cheesesteak when I get here. I am definitely a guy who enjoy spicy food, I'd recommend they experiment with cherry peppers but other than that the food is beyond fantastic. If u are craving some nice sandwiches and wanna support local, I'd recommend stopping by. They def deserve it. I also have other people who live in east county who recommended this spot too.

Yo' this joint was recommended to me by Tre Boogie. I've been to a few sub shops here in Diego but none as great as this sandwich shop. The meat was very well seasoned, and the steak fries were jumpin ' Off! I even called the owner and told him how great our food was and that we'd be back. Good lookin' Out! "EB4REAL"

This place is AMAZING! The food is so good! The owner Ronnie goes above and beyond for his customers making sure that you are happy with your order! Probably one of the best Philly Steak subs I've ever had. Owner is very cool and the food doesn't disappoint. Parking lot is small, but the food is worth it!

Yummmmmyyyy! I am from San Diego and we were going east and wanted to find food. We came across Philly Steak Subs and it was a good find! I loved the flavors with the cheese. It was a huge portion with a good price. I enjoyed talking to the owner and the atmosphere it very local.

Finally tried this place and glad I did. Had the Philly Cheesesteak with the Works and was a bit worried about the addition of avocado, but the flavor blended nicely with everything else and was most tasty. Had the smaller size sandwich combo meal and it was enough for two meals. Parking setup is kind of a pain as there is only one way in and out so you have to flip a u-turn which could be difficult if the lot is fairly full. Friendly staff and conveniently located near the East County Courthouse.

Pillys we're great and the streak flies were ordered to crispy perfection. If you want to watch a game it would also be a great spot!

I enjoyed there Philly steak plate. I count my carbs so this is a perfect choice. I like that they put gaumole on it . I haven't been in the establishment I only order from Uber eats. So I cannot opinion on that. It's good tasting food .

Best cheesesteaks in San Diego. Fries are delicious. Service backs up if you go during peak lunch hours, call ahead for quicker service.

The roll is so soft you can pull the entire sandwich apart with your bare hands. No knife required. Made me feel like the Hulk, or Thor, whichever Avenger is the strongest. The interior ingredients are diced up and combined perfectly. You easily get a bite of everything and the texture is perfect. I may comment that the meat could be higher quality but all and all they make a wonderful Philly, 8.5/10.

Stopped in last week for a couple of sandwiches. Hadn't been here for a few years and happy to say the food is still Awesome. Cooked to perfection and so tasty. Definitely not going to wait so long before coming back. Love supporting a Family business that takes care of their customers.

$15 for a Philly cheese steak, wasn't very crowded but there was only one chef there and it took 20 minutes for it to come out. The flavor is a 6.5/10 at best, it doesn't have much flavor, and very greasy. Wont be back, regret the $15 spent on meal. Didn't offer any condiments either.

Love their Philly cheese steaks! I used to go often about ten years ago but recently went again. Love the authenticity and how big their subs are.

I spent the first 18 years of my life in Philadelphia, so when I see a place with Philly in the name, I like to check it out. Overall, very good Philly cheese steak. I got it with just onion, which is the way I remember it. They will add peppers and mushrooms, which is ok. They also add lettuce tomatoes and mayo, which is a no-no. The bread is excellent, I didn't ask but it tasted like authentic amoroso rolls. They use provolone, no too bad since they don't put a ton on it. Still no match for a ladle of piping hot Cheez-wiz. All in all, impressive, oh, they have Tastykakes, impressive indeed.

Great Philly Cheesesteaks with Great and fast service. Before you know it you're eating a bomb Philly Cheesesteak where everywhere you look there's something iconic with the art on the walls.

I am from the city of brotherly love and grew up on great cheesesteaks from Jim's and the Reading Terminal. This place ain't that but it's not too far off...the "secret" to any cheesesteak is The Bread as it holds all the cheese, meat, grilled onions...this bread fell apart/broke down and that was a bummer but maybe it was the "travel time" of 10 minutes. I also got the steak fries and they were tasty... I'll be back to give this another turn but now it's just 4/5 stars... Last piece is the Philly Vibe in there and it was strong!!

I was hoping to find a spot to satisfy my philly cheese steak craving. This is one of the few spots in San Diego county that sells them. Disappointingly, this flavor of the sandwiches are bland. It's greasy but without flavor. If I'm going to clog my arteries and risk a heart attack, I would like the cause to be worth it.

I've visited this shop for the second time, but every time I go they mess up my order. I usually don't complain if my order is a little off but being from Philadelphia I just could not bare the taste or the style of this "Steak Sub." I really wanted this time to be better but as you can see from the product pictures they do not make Philly Cheese Steaks. I wish they was true to the "City of Brotherly Love" but unfortunately they make California Steak Subs. NOT Philly Cheese Steaks... if you want a authentic Philly Cheese Steak, visit Philadelphia Sandwich Company. Joe from South Philly will make you the best cheesesteak on the West Coast. Tell him Marc from West Philly sent you, it hits every time :) . . . If you don't hear Clash of Clans in the kitchen, then something is very wrong.

Service was great, food was awesome. My only take away was they only had provolone cheese for their steaks. Personally I would like to have options. But I will be back no doubt.

Was doing business at El Cajon Police and stumbled onto this place. Love to hit these small mom and pop places whenever I'm out and about. They had old school rock n roll music playing and some old stuff on the walls. The old Cheech and Chong album took me back to my teenage days. This looks like you're run of the mill nonstandard nonfranchised mom and pop place. Not going to win any prizes for décor or first date places. BUT, they had one of my favorite foods-Philly cheese steaks! I ordered the cheese steak with mushrooms and no mayo. Yes, surprised that they didn't have cheez wiz although I get provolone whenever I can. The sandwich came well portioned with meat and onions but the onions were way too much and they were a little burnt. I shouldn't have gotten lettuce on it as it tasted a little old or in the fridge too long. Too much bread too. I wish the counter guy would have told me about getting chips and a drink for $1.99. All in all a decent cheese steak but not real authentic and won't make my top 5 here in San Diego.

Picked up some subs for me and the coworker. Both got the Philly Cheesesteak with the works. It came with bell peppers, mushroom, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, and avocado. At first, I was a little hesitant with the avocado but I actually really enjoyed it. The subs were HUGE for just a regular size. I could only eat half and ended up sharing the rest with another coworker. But it was so good, my coworker ate the entire thing. I liked the sandwich but it could have been a little more toasted. I didnt enjoy the steak fries as much. They were slightly overcooked and was too hard to bite into. I havent found a good philly cheesesteak place since Pop's in PB closed down, but this is on the top of my list.
