Yelp
Philomena did not come to play, y'all! That pizza, that beer, those beigneeets???!! Oh mama! Now, that's some good chit right there (excuse my half censored French).
This place has been on my to-try list for some years now. When my friend suggested that we stop by for Sunday brunch, there was no hesitation about it. Dropped in around 12:30 in the afternoon, and the place was slightly empty. I really like the casual vibes. It's like a small pub meets sports bar kind of atmosphere with high tables and several mounted TV's for your sports viewing pleasure. We sat inside but they do have a few patio tables out front.
Service was a little lacking but it wasn't horrible. The lady that helped us seemed to be pre-occupied with other things which resulted in a slow response time. You can actually order right from your table by scanning the QR code, but we decided to take advantage of the full service (I prefer this anyway). What's nice is that you can sample some of the beers before you decide to buy a pint. They also have a great tap list with a few other options for those who aren't a big fan of beer.
After sampling a few of the beers, I decided to have a Pineapple Sour from Gilman Brewing while my friend chose their speciality Shiso Mint Mojito beer cocktail. They have a special brunch menu on Sundays, but you can also still order from their regular pizza menu too. The brunch menu looked tempting, but I was in the mood for some pizza. Ended up ordering the Miss Piggy pizza which is similar to a meat lovers style. My friend stuck with the brunch option and ordered the pork belly hash. We both took advantage of the free beignets with the Yelp check in offer.
Sooo, first of all... that damn pork belly hash looked and smelled friggin' incredible! I didn't get to try it, but my friend really enjoyed it. It had me second guessing if I had made a mistake in ordering the pizza. But when my pizza arrived to the table, I was a happy camper. It's a thinner style pizza with a puffy but crispy crust. Taste-wise, it was everything that you'd expect from a solid meaty pizza. Good toppings, nice flavor, and really tasty cheese. My favorite part was the crust because I loved how it wasn't a thin crust but it was still crispy. It wasn't the best pizza that I've ever had in my life, but a good solid pizza that I'd happily order again. Plus, it reheats extremely well and actually tasted even better the next day when I airfried it.
About those beignets; scrum-diddily-umptious! Mm hmm! Uh-huh! Dem suckas were mouthwatering. When I see beignets on the menus out here, my expectations are always super low. I know that sounds bad but... too many bad experiences will do that to ya. We were both blown away by how amazing these beignets were. So light, so fluffy. The perfect amount of powered sugar and sweetness. And that dipping chocolate was like the icing on the cake. I couldn't believe that they were giving these out for free (but please don't stop now... thanks! Bahaha!). But honestly, I'd happily pay for these because they're THAT good. Save room for dessert, folks!
Aside from the spotty service, everything else was amazing here. I can certainly see why this spot is a local and town favorite. Would love to make another pitstop here when I'm back in this part of town.
