"Phil's Place, a 1970s-era sports bar and Mexican restaurant, is closing in October. The bar, known for its small windows covered in bars and wood-paneled walls, has been a family-owned business since 2002. Customers highly praise chef Junie Garcia's green chile and huevos rancheros. The bar will have a farewell event on October 6 before officially closing the following week." - Josie Sexton

This place is a little off the beaten path. If you want to avoid tourists you can probably be safe here. I ordered two breakfast burritos and I definitely should have ordered just one. The girl told me they were small.... they are not small. But, they are delicious and they are not expensive.

We stopped at this place to use an ATM, Phil's Place. A drunk man at the bar asked to check our IDs when we walked in, but changed his mind when we said one of us just wanted to get cash. My friend walked to the ATM and I asked drunk dude checking IDs who was drinking at the bar if I could use the ladies room, the guy bullshited with me jokingly I had "two minutes" to use it. So I went around the corner where I waited outside the bathroom several minutes because it was occupied, and when I came out I didn't see my two friends. Also, the ATM didn't work and the guy was telling us to "just give your card to the lady behind the bar and she will give you $20"... I walk out the front door to see the guy and my two friends talking to officers who had happened to have the street blocked out front due to an event. Thankfully the officers were there and were able to be flagged down when this DRUNK EMPLOYEE decided to grab my friend by her arm in a very odd drunken rage. Then they told officers they wanted us banned from the property, which of course was a mutual agreement. As we were only there to get cash and use their toilet. It was bizarre and I highly urge everyone in Denver to never, ever go here and spend money. Don't event piss in or on or near their toilet. We were three women in our 30s. Question how safe you think this place is before you give them your business. There are plenty of other establishments in Denver that have great food, respectable staff, and are safe for you and your family to attend. This isn't it.

This establishment is a step into a foundation where jazz is originated from DENVER. The Lounge is a good crowd and the service is complimented by a smile by the bar tender (s). It has a unbelievable tip top jukebox and the food is up to par all the time. So thanks to all staff keeping it one hundred just for Denver's smack dab corner stone establishment that jazz is from.

Phil's place strangely got a good review in westword for its burritos, but honestly I've had better for half the price. The sauce was bland and the lettuce sprinkled on top was soggy. The staff was really nice and the place has cool decor for a dive bar, but I wouldn't go to Phil's for the food.

Classic dive bar holding out since forever ago. When you want to be grounded in how this neighborhood used to be go spend an evening with these old timers. Burritos aren’t bad either.

This is a great place for Breakfast Burritos, a cold beer, or just a nice neighborhood bar to hang out. Gary and Junie are great people and you can tell that when you walk in the place.

Sabrina is the best bartender and she will take care of your group. This is a fun, cozy, safe bar! I love it.
