Literally have never experienced a more welcoming coffee shop! I came in for the first time, not much of a coffee guy, but while waiting for my friend I felt overwhelmed with the options on the menu, the guy behind the counter was super relaxed and helped me figure it out, and also recommended me a coffee, this place is affordable and has great quality coffee! 100% recommendation to all who are interested!

Small chain originating from San Francisco, all of the coffee blends are made to order, nothing you get will have been sitting for part of the day in a metal dispenser. Decent selection of staple pastries and sandwiches, the latter made to order as well. There is free wifi and it's fairly quiet, good place to work or study.

Very large shop. Lots of seats and chairs with plug-ins to charge your phone- laptops. The staff is super friendly and quick. I had the blueberry and lemon muffin it was delicious. They also have a big outdoor seating area.

Ever since it opened in 2019, Philz Coffee on Division has been one of my favorite coffee & work spots in Chicago! As a Mocha lover, I would often get the Mocha Tesora, although some of their other signature drinks like the mint mojito and rosé are refreshing too! If you like lighter blends, go for Dancing Water ☕️🤎☺️. The large table in the center with outlets is definitely a plus for laptop users.

Been to a few Philz in San Fran and I have to say, the San Fran staff were way more helpful. Philz theme is made to order coffee drinks, meaning, actually made to order...all ingredients. Yes, it take a bit longer than most places, but not by much. Their coffee is good and they have imaginative creations that do blend well together and are worth trying. But given their unique style, the staff should be more engaging and helpful. They should guide the new customers through their menu and process. Explain things like “the House way” and what’s exactly in the drinks. These are not sickly sweet drinks so if you are a pound of sugar fake syrup Starbucks fan, gage accordingly.

If you’re into coffee, especially handmade pour overs. This is a great place. You do have to wait cause they’re making it for you fresh but I recommend it.

I've been waiting for Philz to open in Chicago for 2 years. It's my all time favorite coffee in the U.S. However, I was worried that the quality won't be the same if it's anywhere other than the bay area. Today I tried the Wicker Park shop and I wasn't disappointed. The coffee is great, the team is very friendly and professional and they blend in the neighborhood so well. My favorite drink is mocha tesora but the Rosé is a close second.

It was my first time going to a Philz after all the hype this place has gotten after finally opening up in Chicago, and I definitely think it deserves its recognition! I told the woman working there it was my first time, so she was so kind to go over the different blends and drinks that were popular. I ended up getting an iced dark blend, which tasted great! Beans here are ground fresh as soon as you make your order, and the baristas there are very knowledgeable about coffee. I absolutely love the Wicker Park area and the addition of this place makes it even more worth a visit when I’m in the city!

As a SF native such a great surprise to see this place in chicago. The service here is as good as i expect and doesn't miss a beat. got my usual dancing water and it hit like it always does. so great to get my morning coffee here outside of SF

Coffee franchise based out of SF. Very unique flavors and the coffee was nice and rich. Service was a bit slow but we did go at a busier time.

My partner had been raving about Philz, so I was so excited to give it a try while in the area! I really appreciated how they had so many different flavors of coffee and the really helpful descriptions so you know what you're ordering. Their coffee creations also looked delicious - I wish I was able to go a third time so I could try the Rose coffee! Philz... get yourselves to the east coast!

I come here often to work from "home". There are plenty of outlets and frequent "co-workers" looking to change up scenery, too. Noise levels are moderate, mostly due to music rather than people talking. There's one community table, 2 couches, no more than 3 small tables, and plenty of individual stools. There's a water station outside of coffee and small bites available for purchase. The staff has always been friendly and no-fuss. Perfect for my WFH "co-workers".

This place is hard to come by so if you are in Chicago you have to try it! Their main coffee stores are in Cali so we were excited when we saw that there was a Philz! There are a lot of space where you can study or plug in your phone to charge. The service is good and the baristas are knowledgeable. I personally got the mint coffee where they crush up the mint at the bottom. I personally like Cold coffees so I got it iced. It is pretty sweet and enjoyed it!

Came in about 15 minutes after opening and besides the baristas it was just me (which is a plus hehe). After exchanging good mornings, I ordered a small silken splendor straight up since that's what I usually drink in the mornings at home. It was pretty fun to see the barista pour the freshly brewed coffee back and forth the two pitchers. I usually don't see that being done for hot drinks which was cool to see. I was looking for a place to sit and read when I noticed all of the artwork and personal touches around the store. It is so nice to get lost in looking at everything personally. In light of that, I did want to mention that I frequent the Lincoln Park, Hyde Park, and Evanston locations, but after visiting today, the Wicker Park Philz location is by far my favorite. Whoever was on aux too! I liked your playlist, it had lots of jams.

My go-to coffee shop whenever I come back to visit Chicago! I absolutely LOVE this place. The interior is so spacious and bright, you could definitely find yourself doing work here (I have!). All the baristas are extremely nice and helpful. Their menu consists of a wide array of different coffee beans, each with their own unique flavor! You'll find a short description of each of them on their menu so you'll know exactly what you're getting. The best thing of all? They don't charge extra for different creamers! They don't believe you should have to pay for dietary restrictions (I'm lactose-intolerant). My favorite drink is the Mint Mojito but honestly, everything on the menu is really good. Each coffee's specific flavor notes really shine through. Come drop by for a great cup of coffee!

Philz is great. I've been coming here since they opened in this location and haven't been disappointed. My favorite thing on the menu is the iced coffee rosé (make it sweet and creamy). I've also tried the mint mojito coffee and a couple of the different coffee blends. Food wise, pumpkin loaf is delicious. Everything there is far superior to Starbucks-- the ambiance is better, the coffee doesn't taste burnt, and the food is more delicious. I'm not a regular coffee drinker but will always stop at Philz as a treat. Even when there is a long line, it moves fast and the staff here are SO nice. They make me enjoy ordering a coffee! They have you try your coffee at the counter before you take it away and will change anything for you if it's not up to your taste. This is a cute place to sit and work or grab and go. They have a little outdoor seating area on the side with metal chairs and tables.

Stopped here as i was heading for an appointment as I've yet the chance to try a coffee from Philz. I ordered the Honey Haze cold brew, and chocolate croissant. Cashier was very friendly and patient with me as i ordered. Both of what i ordered were very delicious! I'm honestly sad there isn't a location near me because I would love to come back and buy a whole bag of coffee. Place was clean and had good seating for if you needed to chill out or do some work.

I got the iced coffee rose and it was really good. It's creamy and not too sweet and you can still taste the hints of rose that surprisingly complimented the coffee very well. They usually have decent sitting options and many other options, including some great warm drinks. A great spot to work, study or hang out with friends!

Visited Chicago for a week and got coffee here almost every morning because it was right around the corner from our AirBNB. Let coming back for the great service, excellent coffee and tasty breakfast options!

GUYS. Chicago has Philz, and I COULD NOT BE MORE EXCITED! Way back in the day when I was a travel nurse (and started Yelping because I had no idea where I was all the time), I went to Philz in SF religiously. I dreamt of their mint mojito coffees for years and just drank my own home brews in my Philz mug and remembered better days. I recently moved to Chicago, and PHILZ IS HERE! I had to some, and I am so happy to say that the coffee is just as good as I remember it. What a treat! I'll gladly be back!

I would never think I would be giving such a review for a coffee! I'm not one to drink coffee so I did not expect to like the flavors as much as I did. This was the second time I came and both times the cashier was so kind. Coffee: I usually don't like coffee because it's too bitter, but I don't know why I couldn't stop drinking this! The minty flavor was also another surprise for me as I usually don't like mint. For a price of ~$5 for a small I could see myself getting this every once in a while. 8.1/10

$8 for a coffee. Very long wait (only customer here). No cold up or straw. Fortunately there's a Starbucks across the street.

I just happened to be in the area conducting an errand and saw this cute, colorful cafe, so I decided to stop in. I am in the area occasionally, mostly visiting either the Starbucks or FedEx Office across the street. With Philz Coffee being located in a busy area within Wicker Park, I embraced the fact that it would be congested inside. If you have time to pre-order just to pick-up and go, I recommend doing so because this area can be horrendous when it comes to parking, FYI! Out of their featured drinks, I took an interest in the Jacob's Wonderbar which is noted for being chocolatey with subtle hints of fruit! A kudos to the employee who gave me a sample of it after it caught my interest. I enjoyed the Jacob's Wonderbar as well as the overall vibe of Philz Coffee inside. Now that I have visited, I would surely return since I am an avid visitor in the area. ~Blessings~ Thomas G

Always my go to drink whenever I'm around the area! Parking sucks but that's to be expected for wicker park. However, this location is very spacious. The drink itself is sweet but not too overbearing. It typically get the Rose iced but that's my personal preference. Definitely worth the hype if you're around the area!

Not only is the quality of coffee excellent, but they've managed to execute all of their flavor combinations perfectly. I tried the Gingersnap, Mint Mojito, and Iced Coffee Rosé and every drink tasted exactly as described. Mint and coffee was a new combo for me, but I highly recommend it from Philz, it's super refreshing. I also ordered on the app and it was smooth and very clear. Service was excellent and they made sure to label all the drinks which was nice. It also seems like a great place to get work done or read, very spacious and quiet. Can't wait to visit again!

Philz has a variety of signature coffees. They are all made to order and at the moment. I got the mint mojito with oat milk. They have dairy free options, and one of the options is oat milk. Personally I think oat milk makes coffees taste so delicious. Philz coffee also has a vegan breakfast sandwich. I did not try it but I definitely will come back and try it. There are several Philz coffee locations throughout Chicago and surrounding suburbs.

We already got caffeinated with our breakfast but had to stop by Philz for the infamous Mint Mojito. I have had it once before but my friends hadn't tried it and were eager for a taste. The shop is spacious, with some covered outdoor seating that we hunkered down at. Drinks are cheap but honestly, worth every penny. Order your drinks at the counter and wait for pick up. And MAKE SURE to always include an iced mint mojito in your order, no matter the temperature outside or if you're ordering anything else. Pro tip. I do have one major complaint. WHY isn't there a location in Atlanta!?!? I'm waiting.

Starbucks and Dunkin are my basic go-to's since they right outside by door. BUT PHILZ IS LIFE!! Anytime I can make it out to wicker park (idk why im making it sound like its so far but it is a shlep) I GO!! Like yesterday morning. everything is so easy. mobile order walk up to window. get greeted by friendly face ( yesterday was Lisbeth) and grab delicious order. Since its far and few that I get to make it to wicker I ordered 4 cups of coffee for my and my roommate My always go to is Mint Mojito and yesterday I tried the philtered soul My roommate got Gingersnap ( my new favorite next to mint) and Iced Coffee Rose. I'm drooling thinking about it may have to make a quick coffee run now. I love how easy the app is to use, connects to apple pay and has pretty pictures along the way. Quick note- it doesnt look like they are providing food options right now ( they usually do and its yummy) but they had some scone options by the walk up window

The coffee here is pretty good, but on the expensive side. And they charge you an extra dollar to make something with ice (stupid if you ask me). The food is not very good. They try to offer a large variety and end up doing nothing well. As for the location, the place is immaculate, but it's not somewhere that I'd like to sit and hang out or work. Chicago has lots of wonderful coffee shops, but Philz is not one of them. It's odd because in San Francisco Philz is pretty legit, but they missed on their store here.

Went here for the Wicker Park influencers and insiders event at @philzcoffee. We had a Mint Mojito& Iced Coffee Rose plus delicious pastries. They originated in San Francisco and have now opened their first store in Chicago. They specialize in custom Blended coffees, teas, specialty drinks and pastries. They're not officially open yet, so you'll have to wait a week or so to enjoy it for yourself. it's on a very busy street in a very popular area so, I would expect them to have long lines when they actually do open.

If you're not a coffee purist, Philz is a great option that's still legit. I really liked their signature drink - mint mojito! Huge store with inside and outside seating. Has street parking.

I've been to the locations in SF/DC and loved it, so I'm extremely happy to have this amazing coffee shop open up in Chicago. Stopped by the other day and everything from the quality coffee to the superb customer service is just like other locations. What makes Philz different from other coffee shops is the wide selection of coffee grounds you have to choose from. The flavor profile of each coffee they serve is unique, so you can choose something different each time you visit. Tesora, Philharmonic, and Philtered Soul are probably my top 3. The other cool thing about Philz is that your barista will make the coffee to your taste. You tell him how much cream/sugar/honey you like as well as if you want any other additions like cinnamon/cardamom/mint. They let you taste the coffee once it's ready and they'll adjust it if needed. Relative to other coffee shops, the coffee is very reasonably priced relative to the amount of coffee you receive. There's plenty of seating/space inside as well as some outdoor seating. Seems like a great location to get some studying/work done. Definitely will be visiting Philz quite often. They have plans to open up locations in Hyde Park, Lincoln Park, and Evanston in the near future as well if you live closer to those areas.

My favorite spot for coffee. I especially love the Tesora but they are all great. Can't go wrong with the coffee selections hot or cold and I've even enjoyed their tea. Nothing else compares.

As an sf native I couldn't very well not drink Philz Coffee if I found it in another city. Philz seems to be having some success in Chicago. It honestly is not my favorite place in the Bay Area in Cali, but it is nostalgic because of how many of my family members are obsessed. My favorite pour on this day was good, and perfect because I was freezing outside. I underestimate how much you need a hot coffee in a city that is as cold as Chicago. It's a must. I loved the decor and homage to San Francisco throughout the store. Cool ambiance throughout and definitely a great place if you have to study or work remote. Friendly staff too which seems to be a Philz thing always. It never feels corporate like Starbucks or Peet's. Recommend.

The Mint Mojito is my favorite coffee drink and I used to get it all the time in LA. I was so excited to find Philz in Chicago it's just okay something about it is not the same.

Always good coffee and the service is always nice. The vegan breakfast sandwich was tasty. I also had the almond croissant before, and I remember it being delicious. It's a nice place to drink some coffee and chill with friends!

Popped in for and Iced Coffee Rose and it was very interesting. I appreciate how Philz has interesting flavor combinations for their coffee. Definitely will come back to try more options.

I first tasted Philz when I lived in the Bay Area so imagine my joy when it finally opened here in Wicker Park! Makes me feel less homesick and so much closer to home!! I have been a loyal fan of Philz since my college days (so that's 5 years ago) and their coffee is really different, in a good way. Mint mojito is of course my first love since I love everything mint. Then comes Mocha Tesora :) so good! Now, I am loving the Istanbul Treat - very refreshing when you have it iced with oat milk and sweetened with honey. Their avo toast too is the bomb!! This store in particular, being their first in the Midwest has a different kind of vibe but still inviting. Love the artwork when you enter the store and just the ambiance. You'll be sure to find a safe space here and a community you'll grow to love day by day.

I think my sister questioned it best when she asked "What do you think they do with their beans that make them taste so good? Do they kiss and tuck each one in every night?" - I can't help but laugh out loud, but it's true! Their coffee is so dang good, you would think they raised each one with love and care haha. I have to also mention that they are handling this pandemic so well. For a while they had pickup available with social distancing, masks required, pre-ordered through the app and more just to make the experience safe. It was awesome. The app makes it easier to customize and the whole process is quick and seamless. Now they let you come in, but they still have a quick pickup area - still feel really safe. My favorites are their new take-home cold brew, Jacob's Wonderbar to brew at home, and their Mint Mojito & Gingerbread is boooooomb! When I'm treating myself, those are my go-to's. Expect to pay a high price for coffee here, but honestly most coffee shops are expensive these days and this is quality ass coffee. Cheers!

Love the vibe. Plenty of seating options. Indoor and patio seating. Of course it's Chicago street parking but ‍. They are being super COVID safe. The drink was prepared quite hot, but a little patience and it was amazing. The mocha is definitely darker than most which was a great added bonus. I'll be back.

My absolute favorite place for coffee!! Way better than Starbucks :) I've had the Philtered Soul, mint mojito, iced coffee rose and the honey haze and all of them have been amazing. You really can't go wrong with any of the coffee choices here! The staff is also top notch and super friendly! Stopping by PhilZ always makes my day better

Delicious delicious coffee!!! They're known for their mint mojito which is cold brew topped with milk and a lot of fresh mint leaves for a very refreshing taste. On the bottom of the cup, I was surprised by a bunch of more fresh mint leaves which enhance the flavor of the drink even more. I also tried their iced Gingerbread and it was super delicious and tasted so festive! Make sure you stir the bottom because there's A LOT of spices down there like cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, all the warm fall spices. If you don't constantly stir it, you'll end up sipping very sandy sips because of the generous add of the spices. No complaints though! I felt in love with Philz coffee in LA, and was so happy to find Philz in Chicago. They're definitely not cheap coffee ($6 or more for a large drink) but you pay for the quality of the ingredients. The shop itself is super clean and bright with some nice spots to take pictures. It's not the most quiet place to do work or study, but it's definitely a nice place to hang out and catch up with friends or just have some me time. Definitely recommend you checking out this location when you're in the area!

I was hesitant to even try Philz, I mean can you really do something new to coffee? And I am not historically a fan of pour-overs. Philz didn't disappoint! Not the fastest process of course, and didn't try any of their food offerings many looked great! This was a very full flavored, complex brew, threw me a bit at first as I am so accustomed to the flavor blast from a Peet's or Starbucks. I appreciated the subtle tones and finish of the "Aromatic Arabic". Approved!! Give them a try.

It's worth the hype. I have zero clue how many calories a large iced mint mojito coffee contains but sign me up! Even better, check out the iced coffee rose. It may taste like your grandma smells (who doesn't love rose perfume?) but the sh*t is absolutely addicting. Pro-tip: Order beforehand on the app to avoid the massive lines that can pop up on a weekend.

I've been here a few times and have brought friends and family to check it out. It's definitely a different experience and taste than my regular go-to coffee spot! They have a variety of options and there's something for everyone! Two things I was the most impressed by - the staff and creative flavors! During my first visit (I think it was before the opened and were giving out free drinks), the line was SO long. They had staff engaging with people in the line just to say hello - most places I've been to are always short-staffed and staff are always so stressed out, but not here! During my visits, Chelsea (I think her name was) always took care of my drinks and recommended things based on what I like. Even though the lines were long, I was really impressed on how everyone stayed calm and had a lot of energy! Joey (maybe the manager or lead) is just so energetic and personable!!! My favorite drinks there are the rose and mint drinks - get it iced! As for food, the Samoa donut is freaking amazing! I do like the avocado toast but I didn't really care for the hard boiled egg on it. I love that Philz partners with local bakeries! Anyway, I'll be back.

So excited that my favorite SF coffee shop opened in Chicago. I wish there was one in/around South Loop. I had my typical Turkish, very light sweet and enjoyed every sip of it.

Updated review: This place has definitely improved since my last visit. There was virtually no wait and the coffee was good. Still a bit overpriced for me but the service was very friendly so that's worth something! Original review: Not sure why there is such hype around this place. Seems too overpriced and mediocre to be worth the long wait. $7 for a coffee? Not worth it to me.

Espresso/espresso-based drinks your go-to? This is not the place to get your fix. But if you're open to discovering some interesting and unique Java blends in a vibrant environment, then, by all means, check this place out. Sure, Philz is a chain, and I like to support local roasters as much as possible, but I really like their story -- immigrant-founded and family-run plus they're dedicated to sourcing their ingredients ethically and sustainably. Having lived in NorCal before, it's nice to see this Bay Area darling make its way to the Midwest. We finally made the visit once the crowds have died down. Upbeat music was pumping through the speakers and there were a lot of people on their grind. My friend went with the mint mojito and I went with the iced coffee rosé, both prepared the Philz way (medium sweet with cream). They use the pour-over method -- living up to their mission of brewing "one cup at a time" and tailoring each cup to the customer's taste. I did enjoy my drink. It was light, creamy and invigorating. The coffee put me and my friend in this kind of weird, energized (not jittery) state.. but maybe we were just acting weird per usual ;) If you want to brew their coffee at home, they have 16oz bags of different blends ready for purchase. One of the workers briefly passed out samples of their Mediterranean avo toast and almond butter & jam sandwiches while we were there. Thought it was a nice gesture and a great way to promote their food offerings. They offer some gluten-free pastries from defloured in Andersonville. Not sure where they get the other baked goods they carry, but they partner up with other local bakeries. I also loved the sense of community here. They have Polaroids of the different team members displayed on one of the walls so you can get to know who's taking your order and pouring your coffee. If you're driving here, I'm sorry but you'd have to deal w/ metered parking or risk getting a ticket for parking in residential areas that require a permit. I am excited about their expansion throughout Chicagoland - especially the Evanston shop that's slated to open this year!!

We stopped by on a Sunday around 3PM. There was still a line since this place was new, but we didn't have to wait long. Ian was awesome and gave us a passport with the menu. He explained the drinks and asked if we had any flavor preferences and gave us recommendations. Order the 8 drinks on the passport by September 23rd to be entered for a prize! Once inside the great customer service continued. I ordered the Ginger Snap but I got it warm and with soy milk. The barista was very friendly and accommodating of all of my requests. They had me try it before I left the counter to make sure it was to my liking. The flavor was creamy and had a hint of spice - I really enjoyed it! I also tried my friend's mint coffee which was light and refreshing! The interior is spacious enough and will be good for groups once some of the hype dies down. Luckily they had some outdoor seating too! Perfect for summer time. Overall I was a fan of both the coffee and Philz as a whole! I'll be back in the future - I suggest you check it out :)

Loving the vibes and coffee at Philz Coffee! I feel extremely spoiled that this is in my apartment building. Philz Coffee stands out from other coffee shops with their excellent customer experience. They ask you to taste the flavor of your coffee when it's ready to ensure the taste is exactly what you want. The staff are personable and are more than happy to describe their menu. They have a variety of selected beans and you can customize your coffee drink. Their crafted drinks are amazing and I am obsessed with the Mint Mojito and Iced Ecstatic. Thankfully when I have visited the line wasn't absurdly long but the staff still apologized for the wait. A major S/O to the store manager, Joey. His upbeat energy and passion shines through and wants to ensure that every customer is pleased with their experience. As he describes, Philz coffee isn't a coffee shop it's a customer experience shop. They want to make your experience at Philz not just a casual but enjoyable visit.

I had my first Philz mint mojito in SF a few years ago and to be honest at the time, I wasn't very impressed by it. Fast forward two years later, I picked up a mint mojito decaf at the newly opened Philz on Division. It was a hot afternoon, so the first sip was super refreshing with the minty flavors. The drink was perfectly sweetened as well. The space can get a little loud on the weekends, but there's also a nice outdoor seating area with both tables and comfy loungers. Philz is the perfect addition to Wicker Park, and I can't wait to come back to try out the other specialty drinks.

Philz Coffee has come to Chicago. My friend and I stopped by for a study session on a Monday a few days after opening to enjoy some good West Coast coffee. I got the Silken Splendor and he got the famous Mint Mojito (pictured). I opted for black, without cream and sugar. The coffee was very aromatic, with hints of cinnamon and caramel. The Mint Mojito was sweeter, enjoyed cold. The mint was refreshing, but not overpowering, and went well with the bitterness of the underlying coffee. As far as prices go, a medium-sized coffee runs at $4.60 as of now, which is slightly pricier than my wallet prefers. As a workspace, Philz has adequate seating, a bustling environment without being overly distracting, and pleasant lighting. Small "breakfast tables" are available for any computer work conducted on a couch. My only complaint would be the extremely spotty internet, which I ultimately find unsurprising due to its recent opening. Verizon coverage is also poor, so don't expect to hotspot through that carrier. For now, expect to get no work done if you need internet. Will update in a month or two.

Always great coffee. Good place to study with open lighting. The people are very nice and welcoming, especially if you're new and don't know their menu. Their coffee grinds are actually pretty good quality. Space most often tends to be available with multiple outlets around. There's also a bakery nearby if you need a break and want to come back. Nice place overall though!

Another coffee place....sigh. I wanted to like this place because of its San Diego roots but alas it's just another chain like business that has recently littered Division Ave. Their coffee was decent but their sandwich, service and overall coffeehouse feel is a solid 3. I mean look at my simple cream cheese bagel...it's a mess

Happened to walk by during their soft opening and was able to try their Rosè iced coffee! So delicious and not too sweet. Their Mojito iced coffee is also their most popular drink! Those two signature drinks are definitely unique to Philz Coffee and I highly recommend them! Employees are super nice and welcoming. Great place to study - plentiful of tables and natural lighting!

I tried Philz coffee in San Francisco earlier this year, and was super excited to see it here in Chicago. Love the mint mojito ($4.60)! The greater alarm (light roast) was also good ($3.60). Service was quick and friendly. Great coffee for a good price!
