Fishermen Strike Delays Start to Northern California’s Dungeness Crab Season - Eater SF

"Philz Coffee is moving its headquarters from the Dogpatch to its roasting plant in Oakland. Philz CEO Mahesh Sadarangani says the San Francisco location 'no longer aligned with our needs as a company,' citing the fact that nearly all of the corporate team is fully remote." - Dianne de Guzman

The Dancing Water had an excellent flavor profile; the combination of brown sugar, biscuit and citrus was deLightful.delightful. The authentic Joy of the Employees was also very refreshing.

Google
Nice staff, GREAT coffee - love the Mint Mojito, hot or cold! So many other unique coffee drinks and flavors you won’t find at Blue Bottle, Peet’s or Starbucks:) Nice big space & conveniently located next to Safeway with a large parking lot!

Barry Hashimoto

Google
Unparalleled, premium pour overs with baristas clearly trained in proper methodology and hospitality by Philz. The interior space is not super nice to linger in more than 25 minutes or so, and generally packed with folks on laptops and, sometimes, a few homeless locals napping, but it’s much nicer than the average cafe in the area. Bathrooms are clean, locked.

Good coffee. Even decaf is good. Coffee can be made with different blends you choose.

Google
Five stars for the baristas at the Rockridge Philz! Perfectly made cup of Philtered Soul but better than that was the vibe! As they handed orders over the counter, the baristas were so friendly and generous to offer to make alterations to orders if they weren’t made perfectly for each customer. I complimented two of them directly, Keegan and Emily, who expressed appreciation for the kudos while clearly working hard to get mounds of orders out. My go to Philz are through the tunnel and I must say that they could definitely learn from the Rockridge establishment. Thank you for the very pleasant Philz experience!

Peter Farejowicz

Google
This should be the golden standard of Philz coffee. I’ve visited just about every Philz location in the Bay Area and this is absolutely my favorite. The baristas here get my drink order right every single time without fail. I’ve been coming here since college for years and it hasn’t let down yet. The location is perfect, in the heart of Rockridge, and the area is very lively so grab a coffee and explore.

Got it in the too good to go, pretty nice $3.99 for 4 pieces of pastry !

Yelp
Always had great service great quality coffee & when ordering through DoorDash this is a place that protects the drinks from the dasher having access it gives me a peace of mind to continue to order through DoorDash not don't understand why so many places will not do the same I definitely recommend this location if you're looking for an interesting variety of quality coffee.

Yelp
Interesting that people want us to respect their gender but they can't respect how you want your coffee. This place on college used to be good. Actually, the few Philzs I have gone to in the past used to be good. Good vibe, fun friendly people. That def shifted over the years. People are in a bad mood, attitudie, typical customer service, almost dmv vibe treatment now. I guess it is what happens to business when they grow. I love most of their coffees especially the iced Rose that they got a few years ago. It is always a gamble if you will get the way you like because everyone makes it a little different but they always check in abou it. I could deal with that but would bring disappointment often to my daily $7 investment. The thing I disliked the most is that I would end up getting cold coffee, not iced coffee, because since the coffee is fresh, it would melt the ice and I would just get diluted cold coffee. My solution was to ask without ice and then add it to my own cup with a lot of ice. Then, I started noticing people with extra attitude. Like I was asking for no ice to get more coffee, then they started putting less coffee on my cup. Sweetly, I mentioned that I didn't like the ice because it would melt but that was too hard to comprehend so still attitude. Then, I sweetly chatted with the manager about how rude people were to me just because I was asking for no ice and giving me a cup 3/4 full since IF I would ask for the same coffee hot, it would come full. She was really sweet but I guess that you cannot control people and the attitude just kept happening. It is a better start of my day if I just find the recipe online.

Yelp
Get the Mint Mojito ! It's refreshing and tastes great ! Ok... my friends tell me it's not coffee. That's fine. I'm not a coffee connoisseur. I'm just a "social drinker." I'm gonna get what my taste buds want !

Yelp
I happened to have some free time on a Friday evening and saw that this Philz location is on Too Good to Go, so I ordered a surprise bag. I came to pick up, the staff were friendly and quick with helping with me and since they only had two pastries left at that time of day, they gave me two bagels. I think one of the pastries was a kouign-amann (not totally sure, I'm not the best at identifying pastries) and I thought it was pretty good even though I don't usually like these kinds of flakey baked goods that are similar to croissants. They included a cookie too, which was just alright. As for the bagels, they were pretty cheesy but slightly spicy, probably contained jalapeno in them. Everything was decent overall, not the freshest tasting but they are leftovers that were probably there at least the whole day after all - not sure if Philz bakes these on site or buys them elsewhere.

Yelp
"If you build it, they will come." Correct, that's not the exact quote from Field of Dreams, but it's still fitting nonetheless. When Philz closed up their location on Shattuck on the north side of Cal's campus, surely had nothing to do with performance. The few times I stopped in, there was no shortage of customers and it was always packed with Cal students camped out to study. So, when I heard that Philz opened up this outpost by Rockridge, I wondered if Cal students would make their way out here. It's not exactly a trek from campus, but there's plenty of great coffee shops in between to study at. Well, as the quote goes, if you build it... Aside from the fact that getting seat here is practically impossible (the two times I've been here, every seat was occupied with Cal students), this Philz is pretty convenient. I can understand how parking isn't super plentiful on College, but I didn't have an issue finding a spot on Claremont on either Saturday afternoon I was here. More importantly, though, the staff here makes the drinks just right - both the Tesora and Mint Mojito I had were perfect. The menu also looked like it included a couple of new drinks, but I'm not sure if it's a location specific thing or if they've always been an option and I've just never paid attention to it (it's hard for me to order anything other than one of my usual go-to favorites). The other thing that I like about this particular location is the staff. In general, Philz baristas are usually friendly and welcoming, but I thought the team here was especially nice. That said, I'm clearly just partial to Philz. As with the students from Cal, if they build a Philz, I will come...and check it out so that I can write yet another pointless, positive review ever so shamelessly.

Yelp
Came here once for one cup of coffee The smalls are VERY small. Coffee was pretty good. Staff was great. Would try again

Yelp
Ordered: Medium Iced Mint Mojito (~$6) Aya's take: Whenever I'm back in the Bay, I make an effort to make my way to a Philz to re-experience the deliciousness that is the Mint Mojito. It always get it the "House Way" which is sweet & creamy. And I love the fresh mint on top tying it all together. This is THE drink for a caffeine kick, aromatic notes, with a balance of sweetness and creaminess. My only mistake was getting a Medium instead of a Large. Do yourself a favor and try it!

Yelp
A great place to work, but I don't think their drinks are all that special. This Philz is located right next to the Safeway, and has plenty of seating and outlets available inside. I arrived on a Wednesday morning and had no trouble finding a seat. I ordered the iced coffee rose with oat milk, which came out to just over $5 for a small. It's one of their specialty drinks, but honestly I didn't really think it was anything special. There wasn't really a rose flavor, and it just tasted like normal iced coffee that was mildly sweet. It wasn't bad, but I can't justify the price when I could make something just as good at home. Maybe I just tried the wrong thing, but I probably wouldn't order that again.
google avatar

Tiffany A.

Yelp
I'm no coffee connoisseur. I've have bad coffee and I've had good coffee. Nothing special. In fact, I never expect to be blown away by a cup of coffee. This morning I read an article that mentioned Philz as a 'Bay Area Favorite'. I decided to check it out. I fully expected there to be a line, fortunately it wasn't. Street parking can be difficult, but there is a Safeway parking lot right next door. I ordered the gingersnap iced coffee. $5.95. I consider that average now a days. There was maybe a five minute wait. I was blown away at 1st sip. The coffee was delicious! It was unlike any other coffee I've tried. I fully understand the hype. I'd for sure come back. Gingersnap iced coffee

Yelp
Great cup of Mint Mojito always does the trick when I want a very minty creamy brew of coffee that is consistent every time. I also decided to try out their Sweet Harmony. The Sweet Harmony it is just as creamy as the mint mojito but without the mint leaves instead it is replaced with cinnamon. This was a nice change up, but I'm such a mint lover that I'll always get my Mint Mojito. Besides a great cup of coffee, this location offers free Milk-bone doggy treats. The only request they make is that dogs aren't allowed in their store, so you take it to go. Whenever I see a Philz, you'll be sure to see me there.
google avatar

Alejandra D.

Yelp
I love me my mint mojito, extra creamy! Philz is such a treat when I'm in the bay. The guy taking orders was so kind and I could see he'd had a day, but didn't let that stop him from bring upbeat with me. There's seating outdoors next to the Safeway.

Leaf V.

Yelp
Every time I've been getting a hot tea from this location, at least the last 5 times the tea has been tasting like dirty water... I don't know if they are properly training them how to brew the tea correctly or what, but I've been a Philz customers for years and when the tea is done right it does not taste like dirty water. Would appreciate if they could get their training down on how to make the actual drinks they serve at this location to be more enjoyable. ( ps. I use to work for Philz so I know it's absolutely possible to have the tea not taste like dirty water)
google avatar

Jeffrey T.

Yelp
The staff is very friendly and patience, they take their time with each drink to make it perfect for each individual. This location has a lot of college students on the weekends who go here to study. It's hard to find a spot to sit. It is a great place to grab coffee to go. It is a bit of a wait here since the location is very popular and busy foot traffic.
google avatar

Shanan D.

Yelp
A discerning customer would cross the street and go to the better, and more distinct Cole Coffee. It's deeply annoying that Philz chose to open directly across from one of Oakland's best coffee spots.
google avatar

Karin H.

Yelp
S0-called sausage burrito was a POTATO burrito with an extremely tiny almost negligible amount of sausage in it and almost no eggs. Total scrambled egg in this *maybe* equaled 1/8th of 1 egg. It also had a LOT of red pepper all over it, making it massively spicy. Tossed it. The banana bread tasted totally artificial and gross, tasted like it was made with oil and fake banana flavoring rather than butter and real bananas. Also tossed that. The kouign aman was tasty but seemed slightly stale, likely day-old from yesterday. Expensive order to end up throwing most of it out. The Philz in S. SF on Westborough is MUCH better. This location = disappointing.

Yelp
It was my first time coming to Philz and I'd have to say, this was one of the best coffee I'd ever had! I don't normally care for coffee but I would come back here and order a large anytime! Atmosphere: Very welcoming! Clean! There are seats and tables for people to study and hang out. Service: The staff was nice! The staff at the register gave me recommendations and told me what was popular! They were efficient and fast. Received the drinks in a short amount of time. Drinks: I got a medium Iced Mint Mojito and a medium Iced Coffee Rosé. They were both beautiful and delicious! Very refreshing! The Mint Mojito had a great blend of coffee flavor and mint taste. I loved it! The Coffee Rosé was interesting. It had the right amount of Rosé taste mixed with the coffee. Overall, I 10/10 recommend this coffee shop. They have some interesting flavors on the menu and they all sound really delicious. They even sell coffee blends of the drinks that are on the menu! Next time, I am going to try the Philtered Soul. That one sounds amazing!

Yelp
When I find myself in the area of College Ave/Claremont St., I cant help but stop in for a Philz fixin'. The Berkeley area has two Philz Coffee and I find myself coming here more often. I tend to get the Philtered Soul coffee but I am always in the mood to mix it up a little bit I'll do a half and half. On this visit (10/26/21), I tried a Philtered Soul and Jacob's Wonderbar medium hot coffee. It was a strong dark brewed coffee that put a pep in my step. In the past, I've had a bite to eat from here and I've even tried a cinnamon roll which have all been good. On this afternoon, it was strictly coffee for me. There is plenty of space at this location to get work done on your laptop and there's even seating outside. Located next to Safeway, use the Safeway parking lot to park and then get some grocery shopping done while you're here.
google avatar

Karen T.

Yelp
Ambiance: nice with outlets so in other words, solid for sitting there for hours and getting some work done. That being said, come prepared to wait a bit for a seat especially on the weekends just because there are so many people studying here. But it's not impossible to find a seat. They're always understaffed and in true Philz fashion, it takes at least 15-20 minutes to get your order but I think it's worth the wait. Food: I usually order the mint mojito or rose coffee, both of which are pretty good options. The rose coffee is nice and creamy and I like the refreshing kick that the mint has for their mojito.

Yelp
I honestly am a huge Philz fan. We couldn't order ahead for some reason in the app, so we had to go in store to order. The Philz is super busy and was packed when I walked in. The barista made the drink to perfection. It was absolutely great. Here's where my issue is: The bathroom. Wow. I have never been a bathroom that bad. There was toilet paper shredded everywhere. It smelled horrible. There was trash of all kinds in the bathroom. It was just horrible. TLDR: Coffee good, bathroom horrible.
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
I'm measured when it comes to my coffee drinking experiences. While I believe drinking coffee is a daily necessity and I do enjoy a good quality coffee. There's a balance. Philz falls in the category of over the top or at least too fancy for me. It's like caviar. It's supposed to be this fancy, expensive food but when I eat it, I end up asking: "what's the big deal with caviar?" But I get it. Philz custom made my order of coffee. They make it fresh, according to each customers liking. It's pricey, good tasting, premium coffee. But in the end, I'm fine with drip coffee. Plus being a cheapskate when it comes to coffee, the amount of joy I receive from drinking a cup of Phil's coffee for $5.00 compared to the pot of coffee from home for cents to the dollar is minimal. So is Philz coffee good? Absolutely. Is it worth the price? Um, sure. Every once in a while or if I'm Melinda Gates and just karate chopped my Ex-husband's net worth in half.

Yelp
I am generally a big fan of Philz, but this one disappoints on many levels many times. The biggest issues are the drinks are never consistent and some baristas are rude. With respect to consistency, sometimes drinks have too much ice with barely any coffee and sometimes there is no ice at all and the iced drink is lukewarm. Which these things wouldn't necessarily be an issue if the customer service was decent. On the weekend, this store is frequently backed up past the pick up time. I've adjusted to come to pick up 10-15 mins after my pick up time and my drink will just be coming out. Great! Well one time, for the third time we got an iced mocha tesora with no ice. I mentioned it to the barista who said we arrived 10 minutes after our pick up and that's why there was no ice left. I mentioned that we've had this happen repeatedly even when the drink was put out as we arrived. It felt weird and judgy. And the final straw was today. I noticed their tip jar has the tacky "How attractive do you think you are?" phrase. I mentioned to the person taking my order that some people find that saying pretty uncomfortable, and at least from the people I know they don't tend to like it. She listened, but I could tell she didn't agree, which is fine. She said she would tell her manager and that was it. Well then I come out of the bathroom and hear her and another employee gossiping about it and saying "Well you can't please everyone!" in an exasperated tone. I didn't ask them to take the jar down, I wasn't rude and I still tipped well, I just gave an opinion. Maybe don't talk about a customer until they leave...

Yelp
I love Philz for many reasons but I JUST tried their Mission cold brew and it was . Not into much caffeine and I started trying other cold brew from other places -- this one still stands out.

Vic M.

Yelp
Service from Chelsea is always thoughtful and kind! She makes every order with special attention to detail.

Zerita D.

Yelp
Service even when crowded was friendly and helpful. Coffee here is pleaded. Not your common coffee shop. The taste is a rainbow of flavors in your mouth and I was delighted to return for my new adventure in the many wonders of blends. This in my opinion is the testament to experiencing what you won't find often....!! I strong dare you to give yourself such a treat.

Michelle L.

Yelp
The business owner replied in it is an absolute lie. The third-party has an app they can go in and put out of stock and it refunds them not my first rodeo so they are lying to the public now if they need help, I'm sure they could call their DoorDash representative or Uber representative whoever it is and they could show them how to do it in the app. They're just lazy and trying to make the public feel like it's not their fault when it is.
google avatar

Mikaela C.

Yelp
Philz has always provided great consistency. My friend and I love their iced Mint Mojito! We always get it with creamy cream, sweet sugar, iced, and extra creamy!! Every time we go to a different Philz location, we know what to expect and we love that! Highly recommend ordering ahead on the app! Makes everything quick and easy!
google avatar

Kendra W.

Yelp
Came here today while on a walk! Good drinks as always. I love me a good ol cup of Philz coffee! Good customer service. The staff is really friendly and drinks were well made and came up quick. Thanks Philz!

Kathie L.

Yelp
My sisters and I usually stop by Philz Coffee after picking up green juice from Pressed next door. We typically do a mobile order, and the drinks come out perfectly delicious every time. However, be prepared for long wait times on the weekends.
google avatar

Marisa W.

Yelp
We've been regular customers since one of the first Philz Coffee opening in SF and have always had a great experience with the staff who've been down to earth and nice people overall. Yesterday I decided to get my kid a treat and hang out there and was disappointed by the staff. There was a lot of swearing and loud shouting between the young staff - seemed like tension and teenage drama. It was a crappy vibe. Not sure if I would go back with my kid. The coffee and treats were still good. Hoping Philz takes care of the bad seeds since typically Philz is know for a much more positive atmosphere.
google avatar

Sebastian R.

Yelp
I love coming here after shopping for groceries at Safeway next door. The inside is always clean, and the staff is friendly whenever they take my order. My personal favorite items are the Iced Mint Mojito (their most popular drink) and the Iced Coffee Rosé. Even if you're not a fan of iced coffee, Philz is likely to change that pretty quickly. A great spot to come to overall, but I give it four stars as it can get quite busy at times and the orders can get backed up as a result, so I recommend ordering ahead.
google avatar

Britney T.

Yelp
Philz Coffee has always been extremely consistent and provided fresh and quality coffee. However, this review is for the poor and rude service I received for this particular location. Having worked in the customer service and restaurant industry before, I was not shocked to see that the store and employees already cleaning and closing up 30 minutes beforehand. I was glad they took my order, however as I sat down one of the employees told me sternly, "Do not touch my furniture." I was extremely put off by the encounter and apologized profusely, as she walked away nodding her head. Guilt-ridden I left Philz, however, there were still many patrons sitting in the store working on their laptops while I was turned away. I was confused if I had been personally profiled when the store itself was not closed. I understand that they wanted to close early or that due to covid policies they do not want people sitting indoors, but there were clearly people sitting inside. It seemed quite a bit unfair to treat customers differently. Recommendation: Do not come within an hour of their closing time because employees are rushing to close already. Other than that, their Iced Rose Coffee (house way) was great and would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Drinks are always made correctly. I placed mobile orders here Friday and also yesterday (Monday). On Friday, I ordered via Uber eats because I hadn't downloaded the Philz mobile app. I paid $2 more for the same item I ordered Monday via Philz mobile app which is pretty ridiculous. Also, I waited outside to pick up my drink for quite a while before realizing that Uber eats mobile orders are on the opposite end of the counter and not near where the Philz mobile orders are. I wish someone had told me because I probably waited around for ten mins longer than it took to prepare my drink. Moral of the story, order directly from Philz mobile app and not from Uber eats. Either way, the drinks were correct both ways and at pickup, Philz staff always lets me taste my drink to make sure it's perfect and gives me an opportunity to adjust as needed. Mint mojito iced coffee is gimmicky but will always be my fave!!

Daphne L.

Yelp
No idea why the baristas ignore you when you're the only customer waiting for minutes at the register... especially when there are literally FIVE other places to get coffee within a one block radius. I hopped across the street, got a coffee within 30 seconds at Cole's and was done. lol
google avatar

Kristina L.

Yelp
Glad I can get my fix close by my moms place!! Unfortunately parking sucks, but if you go "shopping" at Safeway, you can park in their lot for free.just be careful because they do have a security guard patrolling. Can never go wrong with a large Mint Mojito. My all time favorite drink from Philz! I love the sweet and creaminess along with the hint of mint. Super tasty and still keeps me pretty wired. Other drinks I have tried at this location include: -Ecstatic - Iced coffee -Mocha Tesora -Dancing Waters (my current go to) - I usually ask for this over ice The Barista's at this location are all well trained and I have never had an issue with a drink that was not to my liking. They all make it a perfect sweet and creamy, just how I like it! Although they do have an ok amount seating here, it is ALWAYS packed, even on the weekends. I usually try to get here early in the morning on the weekends to hopefully avoid long lines, but never been successful. This place has always been busy! Regardless I do like this location and also being able to get my grocery shopping at the same time or get pastries across the street.

Yelp
The first bad experience was we got our drink. It tasted nasty. I asked for a remake. They remake it and it still tasted nasty. I think the cream was bad or something. I was in a hurry so I just took the drink and left. I throw it out. She seems like a new barista because I never saw her before. The second bad experience was when we got our drink it didn't tasted great. It tasted okay at best (I know how it supposed to taste when it's done right since I'm a regular). I tried to ask who made our drink because we wanted a remake. The barista Beside the station of the drink we got didn't know who made our drink. The station where we got our drink was empty. (Note we went on a Sunday and they were busy when we made the order so we went to Safeway then came back to Philz to get our drink hence why we don't know who made it) My wife doesn't really check what she drinks but she said her drink was mediocre at best and that she had before in a different day that it tasted better so she didn't finish it. I took a couple sip and I realized something doesn't look right. My min mojito was supposed to have a mint so when I felt something I thought it was mint leaves. But, I saw something black I thought it was just oxidized mint but it wasn't. I pulled it out and It's a fucking feather! Like what the fuck. It was so disgusting. Like idk how that feather got in there. Yes sometimes this location has bad days. I've experienced their bad days but I had two really bad experience and the most recent one was just disgusting that I had to give it one star. Please pay attention and never let this happen again! Do you guys not know that birds carriers a lot of diseases and how dirty they are?!

Tishay W.

Yelp
Good coffee and good vibes at Philz! Shout out to Thomas for always being on POINT! Double shout out to Hannah! Thank you for staying on top of things! A big thank you for the way you handle things. You're appreciated Wishing you all the best! Carlos & Tishay

Yelp
This Philz location has consistent, great drinks and kind service. Pre-COVID, it was a great place to study especially in the earlier mornings. Located across the Safeway, street parking can be hard to find sometimes on a busy street like College Ave. I waited about 10 minutes in line on a Saturday morning at 7:30 AM. I ordered the seasonal drink Summer Crush, and it was definitely a unique flavor profile with heavy notes of cardomom. My usual go to is the iced coffee rosé, especially because I enjoy my coffee sweet. It's super creamy and the rose cream topping is unbeatable. A solid choice for great coffee and a wide variety of creations.

Yelp
OK Phil's is now in chain this place rips. It's a hipster spot no doubt a coffees fantastic it takes a little longer but if you want grade coffee this is a spot for you

Yelp
Probably my favorite treat ever. I don't come that often because I can't justify $10 a day but when I do get here - yum! Ordered a LARGE iced mint mojito which is awesome and you get it how you ask for it (me? Light creamy, light sweet) And the almond croissants are amazing. Thankful for the nice staff as well! Be prepared to spend a little money here.
google avatar

Tiffany F.

Yelp
MINT MOJITO: yes, that's the way to go, I refuse to order anything else. Hopefully, that attests to how loyal I am to this drink. LOCATION: In a safe neighborhood in Elmwood...next to Safeway, numerous restaurants & small shops SERVICE: Staff is a bit curt, almost a bit rude (at my most recent visit ironically)

Yelp
This is a fantastic coffee shop. They always make a great coffee and there's excellent service. All of the baristas I have come across have been friendly and helpful. Good environment to work, chill, or just have a convo with someone. Friendly and inclusive environment. Thank you.

Yelp
Philtered Soul straight up! best coffee in the world! Employees were awesome, but need to improve these Coffee, it was so hot that it went through the bottom leaking in my car. oh Noooo!!

Yelp
This Philz location was our go-to coffee shop during the start of the pandemic. We haven't come here in a while, so it was nostalgic having our usual's here again! Street parking here can be a bit difficult, especially on mornings during the weekends. There is a Safeway next to Philz which has a parking lot of its own, so if you need to do some grocery shopping before or after, you could park there too. You can order via mobile app (which is what I did), or stand in line inside to order. My mobile order took about 30 minutes to be ready, which is the average wait time during the weekends so keep that in mind. There is plenty of seating outside of Philz with tables and chairs, as well as benches. I didn't see too much seating inside the store itself. I ordered a small iced Mint Mojito with creamy oat milk and medium stevia, as well as a turkey sausage sandwich (sans the cheese). The Mint Mojito was perfect and just as I remembered it! The mint leafs tasted fresh, and the level of creaminess was just right. I ordered the turkey sausage sandwich for the first time, and actually really enjoyed it. It's comparable to the one from Starbucks, but slightly bigger. Pricing wise, Philz is always a tad more pricey than other coffee shops -- however, I think you really get what you pay for! You can't recreate their classic Mint Mojito at home (I've tried and failed), and other coffee shops that try to imitate it just end up disappointing you in the end. Definitely give Philz a try if you haven't before! :)

Yelp
This is my go to spot for Philz. Always good Vibes and friendly baristas. But today Arthur went above and beyond while the store was super busy. Hella friendly and provided great service. Thanks Arthur!

Yelp
Philz espresso blend is fairly mediocre, but the main reason to avoid this location is the disgusting mound of wet pigeon droppings in front. No pride in cleanliness usually translates to no pride in product.

Yelp
Wow Phil's staff, you suck. We walk in to order and while we're walking into line three of your employees yell from across the room "We're closed!" Umm No it's not even closing time yet and both your doors are wide open! They turned us away even though they weren't closed yet and said they were too busy. I'm sorry but what business does this? And if you're so busy then close your doors! This was a super rude experience.

Yelp
The coffee was great, though they use sweetener instead of sugar if you're up for that. They employees are lgbtq+ friendly and very patient with you when ordering. Their cups are so cute and the view outside is really homey, giving that small town feel when it's not even a small town. Overall, great place, I just like sugar

Yelp
Oof. This is the most chaotic, disorganized Philz I've been to. Everyone is shouting over each other, no one knows where the order line is vs pickup, and the staff is unfriendly. Waited 10 minutes in the wrong line with a group of other confused patrons and another 30 minutes for my order while people behind me got their coffee first. Confusingly bad experience from my favorite local coffee chain.

Yelp
It's the good coffee you'd expect, but the service is quite slow. I did a walk-up order on a weekday AM and it took over 15 minutes. This is longer than what the app said I would have to wait if I ordered right then, so I don't believe I would've gotten my drink on time. Given the crowd outside and constant peering into the window, it was obvious that people who pre-ordered also had to wait past their designated time. So to manage your expectations - order ahead and expect to wait. I won't be back because I don't feel safe waiting for so long during COVID times. I appreciate their signs for COVID protocols, but most people did not follow it (e.g. only 1 person in the pickup area at once). I think they'd have better luck with adherence if they only listed the few critical rules on the sign (vs a laundry list). The narrow door also makes it hard to physically distance.
