Phin Caphe & Boba

I love Phin caphe, they used to close early before the business time. Their store normally closed at 6 PM, but they closed at 5 PM because there were no customers, majority of the citizens working 9-5 and they closed at 5 PM, how can we have time to go there and order or even hang out with friends? I wish the store close late, like around 9 or 10 PM. But, I still give thema a 5 stars because they got good Vietnamese coffee. Nevertheless, they got new tiramisu coffee drinks and delicious lychee tea!

This has quickly become my favorite Vietnamese coffee spot in Portland! The drinks here are absolutely delicious and I’ve been hooked ever since my first visit. Their classic Vietnamese coffee drinks paired with rich, flavorful foam toppings have blown me away. It’s become a weekly ritual for me to try a new flavor and so far the pistachio foam has been my favorite because it’s creamy, nutty and perfectly complements the strong Vietnamese coffee base. One thing I really appreciate is the ability to customize sweetness levels which not many spots do. I usually go with 50% sweet which strikes the perfect balance for my taste which is still bold and flavorful but not overwhelmingly sweet. I haven’t explored their fruit drinks or milk teas yet simply because the coffee options are so good that I haven’t been able to pull myself away from them. But judging by the quality so far, I wouldn’t be surprised if everything else on the menu is just as impressive. The location is convenient, though it can get busy on weekends. They also have self-serve kiosks for placing a quick order. The parking lot does fill up at times but there are generally enough spots in the lot for everyone. They also offer a loyalty card where you get one free drink after buying 20 drinks. It’s a small perk (like a 5% discount) but still a nice touch for regular customers.

So excited to have this place open in my local area. The flavors are delicious and the coffee is yummy. I love that you can get it 25%-100% sweet too, so if I am craving more of a treat vs. wanting something less sweet I have options. The coffee shop is cute and lots of outlets which is great for working! Food is affordable too. The drinks feel on the pricier side, but you are getting more than just an iced coffee here when it comes to the toppings, etc. I have been back four times already in the last week and a half.

Summary: good place to hit up if you’re craving some yummy viet coffee Food/drinks - the coffees themselves are very delicious. Family enjoyed the pistachio, ube, and egg coffee a lot so any of those are recommended! The matcha latte was fine but it lowkey tasted very artificial. However, that could’ve just been bc I got the ceremonial matcha version and I’ve never had it before. Didn’t get any food here but it was available. Price - decent, not bad for the drinks. About $7-9 per drink Service - was alright because we came when the store was decently busy. The employee who took our orders were nice though. Atmosphere - limited seating so if the store is busy, don’t count on getting a table. Wouldn’t recommend studying here as well as people were mainly sitting around to talk and eat and the volume got loud. Location - chill, ample parking spaces Note - the menus are lowkey very disorganized. Multiple different looking ones being plastered and not everything seems consistent. I’d recommend sticking to one so that if you’re trying to look at the ones outside, they don’t seem different from the ones inside.

So many good drinks here and there are street foods as well. I love the drinks but it took too long to get our order, would recommend coming when it’s not crowded for fast services

Creamy, rich, and slightly sweet, it tasted like a dessert and a caffeine kick all in one. Did you know egg coffee (*cà phê trứng*) originated in Hanoi during the 1940s when milk was scarce? Resourceful baristas whipped egg yolks with condensed milk to create a luxurious foam, and Phin Caphe has perfected this tradition. Every sip was like a little trip to Vietnam. The Iced Pistachio Coffee was equally impressive. The nutty, earthy flavor of pistachio paired beautifully with the bold, chocolatey notes of Vietnamese robusta coffee. It’s a modern twist on a classic, and it works so well. I learned that Vietnamese coffee culture is all about bold flavors and creativity, and this drink is a perfect example of that. The atmosphere here is just as delightful as the drinks. The space feels welcoming and vibrant, with a mix of students, creatives, and coffee enthusiasts all enjoying their time. Two drinks were about $16 and the drinks took a while to make. If you’re in a rush I would not recommend stopping by. We ordered a Green Thai milk tea with pudding, however when we received our drink, it had no pudding in it?? Unfortunately, we realized after leaving the area, but the drink is also more ice than it is drink. The Green Thai milk tea is not bad though.

I am a regular here and I got to try variety of drinks here. They are known for their Vietnamese coffee, and it tastes so authentic as it can be. I actually came back from Vietnam and tried multiple cafes of teas and coffee there and this place is the closest to authenticity you can get for their coffees!! I tried avocado smoothie, Ube coffee, pandan coffee, pistachio coffee, kumquat tea, and green Thai tea. My favorite is the pistachio coffee! The service is always lovely and helpful and the cafe is super cute and clean. There are seats inside and outside to sip on your drinks or do some computer work!

I've heard great things about this place, my friends are regulars. I was in the area so I decided to go and try it out, as I was meaning to go for a while. It was a little before lunch time and so the cafe wasn't busy. Not big on coffee but wanted to try the Ube Coffee and so I ordered it. I got my drink in about 4-5 mins after ordering. First impression on the ube coffee: I liked it, it was just sweet enough, the coffee taste is noticeable, I would have loved for the ube to be a little stronger in taste/flavor but overall I liked it. Definitely coming back to try more on their menu, plus it's a nice cute spot. I've heard they decorate seasonally, so looking forward to that.

I recently visited Phin Caphe & Boba, a Vietnamese coffee spot that has been my go-to with my parents! This place offers an impressive selection of unique coffee flavors, including ube and pandan coffee, which are absolute must-tries. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The decor blends modern and traditional elements, with comfortable seating that make it perfect for both working or catching up with friends. The staff here are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. My favorite is their ube coffee! The ube flavor was perfectly balanced with the robust Vietnamese coffee, creating a creamy and slightly sweet beverage that wasn't overpowering. The only thing that could be better is if there was less ice and more drink. Can't wait to visit their Beaverton location!

The Ube coffee is definitely their top seller for a reason! It is soo good, and it is not overly sweet- literally the perfect balance. My fiance ordered the taro coconut smoothie and said that was really good too, I can't comment on that because I didn't taste it and was too busy finishing mine The place is cute and clean and service was super quick! Little to no wait time.

I got the pandan coffee and it was amazing! The sweetness of the pandan cream topping went perfectly with the strong Vietnamese coffee. A great afternoon pick me up treat. The shop has a lot of seating inside and even a bathroom. A nice place to get drinks with friends and hangout!

First time here because we have heard things. Things like Ube Vietnamese coffee, egg coffee and seasonal sesame coffee. Say no more. Walk in and order at the counter. Menu is displayed on the screen with pricing, averaging $6.50 per drink. One size. Hot or cold. We asked for a Ube coffee with less ice. Pay for with a credit card and wait a few minutes anddddd done. First impression: cute, good presentation, less ice means less coffee. A huge scoop of ube- very creamy texture. Love the added touch of coconut topping. Pretty tasty. I would like significantly less ice or if the size of the ice was smaller, which would make the drink that much tastier. Coffee is strong. I like that they have a few varieties of flavors that will keep me around for another try or two. Parking is shared by the surrounding businesses. There are plenty of spots if it's not busy. Cash or card payment accepted. Chill place. A bit small if you have a large group. Cute though.

I liked the style of this cafe. It was really cute and the layout of the cafe was nice, bright and really inviting. The staff was helpful and friendly and were very honest answering questions about the pastries that they had displayed. Would come here again!

Absolutely love Vietnamese coffee and boba drinks! I was so exited when I found out about this place. On average $5-7 and worth it. The drinks look amazing and taste great! Service was splendid and the vibes is incredibly chill and would be a great place to hang out with some friends with a good drink in hand.

Service was quick & cashier was friendly & nice. Ordered an iced ube coffee and iced milk coffee. Ube coffee was so delicious! Very creamy. The milk coffee was alright, tasted like a Vietnamese coffee but just not as flavorful. Shop is like any other boba shop. They have tables & lounging chairs with board games & such. Overall, very delicious coffee with cool Asian twists, will be back to try more coffees!

Overall: Phin-omenal! Ube-solutely love it! Location: Great location with plenty of parking. Service: Friendly and very fast. We got our Ube Coffee with less ice that had a bit of coconut on it within minutes of ordering. Flavor: The coffee didn't have as strong of an aroma and was on the creamier side compared to the traditional Vietnamese coffee and when you mix in the Ube, it got even creamier - not a bad thing at all. It's very comparable to Coffeeholic's Dreamoholic in Seattle and I would even say it's better because of the creamier texture and the coconut that's on top for that extra bit of flavor. The one thing that did stand out is the ice was large so I'm glad I got less ice.

Best Vietnamese coffee spot in town imo but expect a wait cause they take a while. Can't go wrong with Ube, Pandan, or Black Sesame coffees! Recommend those over anything else there.

I've picked up a coffee at Phin several times now! Each time I got something different, and each time the drinks were great! I really enjoyed the Sea Salt Coffee, as the saltiness of the foam matched well with the strong Vietnamese coffee. I also really liked the Ube Coffee, so I'd recommend that one too. There are many different speciality flavors so I would be happy to come back here to try those out. The drinks here are about $6-$7. The interior of the store is cozy, and the staff are friendly. I also noticed that they make their drinks very fast, which is a plus!

Addiction at its best! Coffee is just right. That sea salt is boarder line not okay for your health, but yet... you always come back for more. They even do pop ups with ButterCoop! And omg, those little treats are to die for!

A review that was long time coming! We absolutely adore Phin caphe and boba! The location is pretty easy to find & parking is a breeze since it is in a little strip mall. Upon walking in, it is always super clean & everyone is always super welcoming. You order at the counter and then pick up from the other side of the counter. There is seating inside and it would make a nice study environment or coffee date spot. The prices are super reasonable for the quality of ingredients and for how insanely delicious everything is! We ordered the pistachio coffee & the ube coffee both were $7.50. Our friend ordered the mango colada and it was $7.75. I can't come here without ordering the ube coffee!! It is rich and so incredibly delicious!! The top it with coconut flakes which adds a nice flavor and texture once mixed in. This time we also tried the pistachio coffee, it was the best pistachio coffee I've ever had. Super pistachio flavored but not fake tasting. The coffee was rich and blended so well with the pistachio. It's definitely giving my usual order of an ube coffee a run for its money. All in all, we couldn't recommend Phin Caphe enough!!

I tried my fair share of Ube Vietnamese cofee and this is the best on yet. The ratios of u e and coffee is just right and nothing over powers each other. Vietnamese cofee will get you feeling like you can run through a wall and get after your day! The interior was beautiful and I did see a lot of people have a chat with their friends or study

Loved finding this spot! They have amazing Vietnamese Coffee which is being surprisingly hard to find in our coffee mecca. The staff was friendly and efficient as I didn't wait long for my drink to come out. The place itself is very cozy and would make a good coffee/boba with friend spot. I'll have to go back and try the Ube coffee and tarp options at some point. They are part of a strip shopping cemetery so parking is easy!

Best ube boba coffee so far that I've had!! I've tried many boba places with coffee but this one is just right, it has a kick to it. Sadly we live on the other side of the river otherwise we'd be here all the time LOL. 1 year going on strong!!

It's more of a boba place, trying to be a coffee place. I got the Pandan iced coffee, but only drank half before throwing it away. Ingredients aren't fresh/natural and it was overly sweet. I'd only come back for the Banh mi, even though the bread was slightly too dry. But it was $7

First time here and love it! I love the strong taste of Vietnamese coffee. Tried the Sea Salt Coffee and Egg Coffee, I like that the actual saltiness in the cream, balances well in the sweet coffee, the egg coffee was different too! Can't wait to try their other flavors too! Be sure to order less sweet, which still taste very sweet to me.

If it was closer to home, I would definitely come back to try all of their drinks! I kinda wish there was a flight sampler. I ended up with just the regular Vietnamese iced coffee since that's what I was craving but would've loved to sample the other drinks. Place was cute and the service was good. I gave 4 stars because it was kinda messy. Tables were a little sticky and floors needed to be swept.

Tried this little cafe over the weekend and it was so good. Their pandan was sold out so we tried their coconut slush coffee and ube coffee. We loved their coconut coffee and if we're in the Portland area, I would definitely come back for that. The ube coffee had a really good flavor but their coffee is very strong. I like my coffee not as bitter so I will ask for less coffee next time. If you're into Coffeeholic (Vietnamese cafe in Seattle) you would like this place, it's very similar but their portions here are much larger.

Cute little cafe, very helpful and friendly staff. I ordered three ube coffee and it was so rich and creamy. LOVED it. Will definitely come back when I visit oregon again and try out the other drinks they have to offer.

The drinks here are very good! We got the brown sugar milk tea with egg pudding and pistachio coffee. The brown sugar milk tea tasted pretty good, but there was way too much ice in the cup and the texture of the egg pudding wasn't good at all -- you'd expect egg pudding to be smooth, not spongey almost. The pistachio coffee was vietnamese coffee topped with pistachio foam, no complaints there.

If I could give Phin's 10 stars I would. This is hands down some of the best Viet coffee on the West Coast. And I've tried some of the really hyped Viet coffee shops in California and Washington, still none can beat this Phin's. My go-to is the Pandan coffee and Ube coffee, both at 25% sweetness and ice levels are perfect. The pandan cream is so flavor packed unlike any other place I've tried. The ca phe sua da itself is also strong and flavorful. Staff is friendly and quick with making drinks. There are quite a few tables to sit at and ample parking in the parking lot. I just wish it wasn't so far but they are always worth the drive.

Service/Prices: 5/5 Service was the standard café and prices were fair. It was not exceptionally cheap, but considering the flavors it was with the value. Overall Comments: 5/5 Exceeded expectations. Will definitely return and refer friends. Delicious drinks. Also sells baked goods, unique snacks, and good value for the PDX area.

the ube coffee is the best thing I have ever tasted. i love it and am in love with it. and its not just ube coffee that i love, ive had it elsewhere and its trash, its Phin Caphe ube coffee that is the absolute jam. service is wonderful, vibes are wonderful, i just hate it when they are closed when i need a fix.

So disappointed of my orders and services! I got the Coconut Coffee with 25% sweetened for $6.50 as my first order with no topping; it listed under All About Coffee, yet it's iced blended with dried coconut flakes on top. It was still too sweet with only 25% sweetened, mostly iced and no coffee flavor whatsoever. It took about 15 minutes for my first order. I did ask about the desserts menu and the two staff behind couldn't tell me what in Chè Khoai Dẻo. I asked both in English and Vietnamese. Since they couldn't confirm what's in it I decided to skip it. I came back inside and asked one of the three staff behind the counter what's item on the menu with most coffee since the Coconut Coffee I got had none. She said the Coconut Coffee and the Avocado are blended so I should order something not blended if I want more coffee. It would have been nice to listed that under or right next to the Coconut Coffee on the menu, especially it is under All About Coffee section. I went ahead and gave them another chance and ordered Sữa Đá (Milk Coffee) with condensed milk for $5.75. Again , it was way too sweet and I still didn't taste or smell any coffee at all. Other Yelpers praised about the Ube and Pandan Coffee, yet at this point I'm not sure if it's worth my while to come back and give those a chance. The drinks I ordered are listed as their Signature Drink as well as the Ube and Pandan Coffee.

Coffee is strong and delicious. Service can we be quicker. You can be waiting up to 20 minutes for your drinks.

Shop is cute, service is excellent, the coffees are delicious. Ube coffee is rich and creamy. The ube flavor is subtle. Pandan coffee is sweeter, fragrant. One of the shops that I wish was available on the west side of town so I can buy more often! Highly recommend 5/5.

1st time i visited Portland OR,got the "sea salt coffee". Ok for my taste but i recommend ask them for more shot to get some more stronger coffee taste ,i got 25% sugar because i love bitter coffee. Hope to visit this place again soon.

It's nice to have a small Vietnamese community in SE Portland! I love Phin for their support of local Asian owned businesses and serving as a host for community events. They don't have much on the food menu that's vegan so I can't give a fair review of that, but there is fruit tea available and non-dairy milk for the smoothies. I wish there were more flavors to choose from and it's not the best boba I have had, but it's great in a pinch! Also a nice place for remote work.

I visited Phin Caphe and Boba after having it on my list for quite awhile. It's located in a shopping center and parking is plentiful. The inside is decorated nicely and there are plenty of tables to sit at. I got oolong milk tea with egg pudding and pandan foam at 25% sweet. I added on the pandan foam for an additional $1.25 because I wanted to try it badly! I liked the oolong milk tea. It had good roasted flavor and it wasn't too sweet like I wanted. The egg pudding was delicious too. The pandan foam wasn't really for me. It weirdly tasted banana like to me. There wasn't enough ice in the drink as well. Overall though, I had a mostly positive experience with the drink, good service, and it had a good location. I'll be revisiting soon!

Amazing coffee. That is all I have to say. We ordered one of all the speciality coffee between the 2 of us because we couldn't decide and no coffee is too much coffee ;) We got the Coconut Coffee, Pandan Coffee, Egg Coffee, Ube Coffee At first sip the coconut coffee didn't taste like much but once we gave it a good mix, tasted amazing. Out of the four drinks, the ube was my favorite followed by the coconut, pandan and egg. The egg coffee didn't taste like anything although it's not supposed to taste like egg. The egg cream just tasted like cream but was still a great treat. Love that they have all the specialty drinks to select from. If you are a coffee enthusiast, definitely give this place a try!

Ordered 2 drinks and it took 20 mins to make! Ask for 50% ice and the drink came with full ice. Jasmine Milk Tea is just alright compare to other Boba places, it's on the strong tea taste. I personally wouldn't come back here again. Giving it a 3 star for the decent avocado drink.

Ube coffee? I think yaaaas! There are so many coffee places that sell ube flavored drinks but this one is spot on with the creaminess and texture. I love a thick consistency of ube. When I think of ube I think of childhood and sweetness. The coffee they brew here definitely pairs well with ube. My partner tried the pistachio foam top which was delicious! And such an odd combination but if you like pistachio you'd definitely need to give that a try!

Was formerly Somus, now rebranded as Phin Caphe & Boba. Seeing Vietnamese coffee becoming more popular in Portland makes me happy and I hope they do well. I ordered their classic Vietnamese coffee drink and it was pretty good but nothing special. The staple taste of what Vietnamese coffee is like is present. There are a lot of better Vietnamese coffee shops that I've been to in Seattle, but for Portland this is a good start.

I saw Phin Caphe photos on my timeline on Instagram and the Ube Coffee immediately hooked me to elevating this place up high on my TDL. I've always loved taro flavored things growing up but for me 2022 was the year I discovered, tried, and obsessed about ube. Regardless of the reviews I knew I had to try the Ube coffee while the weather was still nice and warm in October in Portland. I wasn't sure what to expect prior to trying the drink. Was this a gimmick? Was the coffee and ube both solid individually but something that doesn't compliment each other well? Well after my first sip...I have to report that this combination worked beautifully and was greater than the sum of their parts. The Ube was full of that good Ube flavor that was sweet but much less sweet than the condensed milk that typically goes into a Viet Coffee, but had many of the same qualities that makes condensed milk a perfect duo in Viet Coffee. Phin Caphe is located in a strip mall so parking was abundant and easy to find. The interior was clean and decor was minimalist. Ordering was efficient and my drink came out in a timely fashion. Since the Ube was already sweetened a bit, if I were to order this drink again I'd request the coffee be black to cut back on sugar. I'll report back once I try that combination.

The egg coffee was delicious. The egg foam added a nice creamy texture to the drink and the coffee was strong. The workers were nice and I got my drink at a reasonable time. It was really busy when I visited them. The store is cute and spacious, there were chairs and tables to enjoy your drink. Parking was super easy.

Good, strong coffee flavor. If you enjoy drinking Vietnamese style coffee, you'll enjoy Phin. The interior is simple, modern chic. Each drink was delicious and strong. The ube flavor wasn't as pungent as I thought it would be. Each coffee we had was lightly sweeten and creamy. Will definitely would come back again.

Absolutely one of my favorite coffee shops in the Portland area! The coffee is delicious; my favorites are the ube coffee & pandan coffee! They also have small pastries and rice paper snacks to carry you through the morning. Although the foot traffic may vary throughout the day, it's a great spot to kick back and hang out. And the staff are super friendly and helpful with recommendations. It's a bit of the way from the city, but I definitely try to stop by whenever I pick up / drop off at the airport

Super clean facility with delicious beverages. Tried this place hoping to try their egg coffee. We ordered an iced matcha, egg coffee, and pandan coffee. All the drinks were so yummy. The egg coffee was creamy and just the right touch of sweetness. The egg portion was smooth and velvety! The pandan coffee reminded me of a Vietnamese dessert Chè Thái crossed with coffee. The coffee itself is strong and smooth. The pandan portion is perfect if you have a sweet tooth. The shop is cute with boho green decor. The staff is a young crowd that's attentive and quick with their order delivery.

This place is great for coffee, refreshing interior, and parking is plenty at this location. I went here twice: first time during their soft opening and once again at their grand opening. Customer service was great the first time but was lacking during the grand opening due to the amount of customers waiting and orders. I've tried their ube coffee, pandan coffee, coconut coffee, egg coffee, and classic milk tea. All of the drinks were on the sweeter side but they are accommodating with the sweetness levels when asked. The ube coffee and coconut coffee were my favorite. The coffee was very fragrant and strong. The combination of the ube foam made it smooth and creamy. Very enjoyable but would suggest asking for less foam if you're not a fan of sweet coffee. The coconut coffee was very refreshing and had the perfect amount of sweetness to pair the drink. My least favorite was the classic milk tea. I kept finding tea leaves in my drink which was not very pleasant. Maybe it was due to the hectic grand opening but straining the tea to prevent creating a bitter brew is very important. At least now I know they use loose leaf teas instead of powder.

Phin Caphe has been one of my bucket list places to go and I finally found the chance recently. I decided on their Vietnamese egg coffee, which for Portland is a rare find as Portland is gradually trying to diversify its cafe scene. I came during a special event and noticed the service was quite hectic. I was forewarned that the wait would be around 15-20 minutes. Luckily, I was handed a buzzer and waited outside. Egg coffee was good, really like the rich taste of the Vietnamese coffee paired with the smooth and velvety egg cream on top. Not usually a coffee person but this was an exception. Aside from coffee, they also have an assortment of milk and fruit teas, smoothies, desserts, and rice paper snacks. They opened not long ago so seems like it's a fresh staff with some still in training. Outside of the event, I anticipate wait times on a typical day will probably be shorter. Decently sized place, with a good number of seating area all around. Good for casual hangouts with friends. Great cafe, excited to give other offerings a try next time such as their ube coffee and pistachio coffee!

Ah yes one of the very few Vietnamese coffee shops in Portland. The decor is super cute, seems like a very cool study/work spot. The worker was super nice and kind enough to recommend us some popular drinks. There isn't any snacks, except banh trang tron and some pastries. If they added some popcorn chicken or fried that would be cool. For the drinks I got the regular sua da and the egg coffee. Both tastes good, but too sweet maybe too much condensed milk/sweetness to it. I can see the potential of this place, but there's some room for improvements :,)

Anytime Im on this side of town I get myself a Phin coffee. Coffee is strong and tasty! The way Vietnamese coffee should be! Ube coffee is my favorite as it is so flavorful meanwhile complimenting the ube flavors Egg Coffee is so creamy and not as flamboyant as ube or pandan but it tastes so classic and doesn't disppoint Pandan really nails the spot for those who like pandan. Reminiscent of my childhood days of the pandan flavors - a definite must try for panda lovers!

Was it strong? Yes. Was it delicious? Yes. Do I want to go back? Absolutely. Dropped by Phin Caphe on a weekend to talk the ears off a friend and was not disappointed in the least. I am a huge huge fan of Viet coffee and I KNEW I had to come by to try the ube coffee once I saw a picture of it. Pretty standard cafe so order at the counter and grab a seat, they'll call out your order. Our drinks came out fairly quickly even though there was a bit of a crowd around; taste wise, I was obsessed. The coffee was strong and packed a punch and you could definitely taste the ube coming through. Nothing felt overwhelming and at the same time it didn't seem dilute either. Great balance overall and honestly what I wish I could drink to wake up every single day. My friend had the egg coffee and enjoyed it though I think the ube wins for me personally. This spot is a bit of a drive but absolutely worth it. Parking is in a strip mall type spot so plenty of spots and you won't have any trouble there. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity so definitely swing by and try it out!
