Pho 20 - Review - Avon - Vail - The Infatuation

"This spot is essential for those in need of a large bowl of pho after a day on the mountain. The space is super casual, and it works great for kids and bigger groups (tables can easily be pushed together). Order the veggie pho (P8) and add on rare steak so you get the best of everything—carrots, mushrooms, broccoli, and large chunks of steamed tofu and slices of ribeye. You could easily be satisfied with that savory bowl of soup, but throw in a round of crab cheese wontons for good measure." - Kim Fuller

Great restaurant to stop and eat at while on a roadtrip or just driving through the area. Restaurant’s layout and design is pretty simple. There’s indoor & outdoor seating areas but majority of the seats are indoors. I noticed the flavours/seasonings weren’t what I exactly associated with Vietnamese food but it still tasted good. Menu is quite simple yet has staple dishes. There are vegetarian dishes, Pho, a kids menu, drinks, desserts, rice plates, bowls, and more. I got the Vegetable Vermicelli Bowl which was a great portion size and tasted pretty good. The building is also connected to a hotel and the only bathroom is inside the mal so you gotta turn left into the hotel, down the stairs, to the right and you’ll find it.

Google
By far, the BEST pho soup in America, it just in Colorado! Thank you so much for making real and authentic broth, not like other places using powder! This place is Original! Look no further! Thank you for excellent food and experience 🫶🏼😉

I’ve been going to this place since I moved here and it’s always been good, never had any problems. My friend and I went there today and it took him 15 minutes to make our drinks we put food orders in and our drinks and it took him 15 minutes to make it. I am a server and I bartend. If you’re standing right in in front of me and doing nothing, why is it taking you that long to make the drinks? I have been there many many times and the service has always been bad, but I do t mind since the food is good. I ordered the same thing I always do, the well done flank. But two of the pieces of meat were green. It was odd and I mentioned it. Wasn’t asking for a discount or to take it off. Just mentioned it so he could take a look at it. He brings me out 4 pieces of meat that weren’t green and said “well I’m not sure what you’re seeing, but it’s not green”. I said oh no those aren’t green but my pieces were so I was just saying mine were green then proceeds to be EXTREMELY rude to me about the pieces I had found, said it was the lights when I took the same exact picture in the same exact spot of the not green meat vs the green meat. I also texted 2 other people and my friend who was eating with me said it was green as well. I cannot believe how rude he was about the situation. Won’t be coming back!

Google
Great service. Awesome food. What more can I ask for at Avon. Combo fried rice is just perfect. Dry and tasteful. Watch out for the chili paste. Suuuuuper spicy, which is exactly what I like! Can be quite busy during dinner time.

Google
In a nearly empty restaurant, it took several minutes for us to get noticed and seated (ended up being seat yourself, so why the sign to "wait to be seated"?). Then got our order taken by the only server in the place who seemed totally out of it. Waited around for our appetizers, realized nothing would be quick or easy at that place, and just walked out. We got lunch at Rocky Mountain Taco food truck instead, which I highly recommend for delicious food and friendly workers.

Google
Decent Pho at a Fair Price Pho 20 was just okay—not bad, but nothing particularly memorable either. The pho had decent flavor, though the broth could’ve used a bit more depth. The portion size was fair, and the price point was reasonable, which is definitely a plus. Service was quick and straightforward, and the place was clean and casual—good for a no-fuss meal. If you’re nearby and craving pho, it’s a decent option, but not necessarily a spot I’d go out of my way for.

Google
Great food. They have two sizes of Pho. Small and large. I thought the small bowl was perfect. The broth was delicious. The brisket was perfect. Just add a little bit of the crushed chili peppers added the right amount of spice. They were slow. Just due to them being understaffed so be reasonable and understanding. It was worth the wait.

Google
Great service and nice location with easy parking. It was not my favorite pho broth and I wish it was more broth and less noodles, but I really loved all the veggies it came with and the option for steamed tofu. Overall, not the best pho I have had but far from the worst. Fair pricing given the size which I appreciate. You can get almost get two meals out of one bowl.

Yelp
Great find and local restaurant which I love. We had the spring rolls and they were great. I love fried rice, so we got the combo plate. All the meat. It was a little lacking for shrimp but had plenty of other meat. The PHO soup bowls were huge so bring an appetite. Definitely on the come back again list

Yelp
Highly disappointed with today's service, being that i barely received any . I would usually recommend this place but the customer service keeps getting worse. I was told to sit wherever and then was ignored for over 15 minutes. Ive been here when it's busier and they use to be more attentive. I couldn't get anyones attention i was just flat out ignored.

Yelp
Back here a year later, it was not as great as we remembered. I think previously we had added a lot to the soup; soy sauce, etc; because this time we did not add anything and the soup was a bit bland. We did P12 add veggies and it was ok, the well done flank steak was not it, defs sticking to brisket in the future. Also only ordering smalls from now on, been eating leftovers for 3 days. The service is pretty bad, you will get food in a timely manner but getting more than 1 drink is difficult because the waiters never circle back, also had to flag them down for the check.

Yelp
So happy to have stumbled upon this place after our hike! Husband and I both had the rare flank pho and it was hands down, the best pho we have ever had. The broth was just incredible! We eat a lot of pho around the country. Don't wait on the Vietnamese egg rolls. It comes with noodles, veggies and lettuce. Make sure to put all of the goodies in the lettuce and dip it in their homemade fish sauce. It's absolutely delicious! Nice service and fun environment - there is even a bar.

Yelp
The chicken pho and the spring rolls are amazing!! If you're looking for some good pho after skiing definitely stop here!

Yelp
When the snow is falling, nothing hits like a great bowl of pho, ramen or just homey soup. This pho doesn't disappoint. I ordered the rare beef pho and the broth was excellent. It did have far too many noodles to broth ratio but the sides of basil and mung bean sprouts make up for the lack of broth. Maybe, I should have ordered the large bowl as mine was super packed. Hubs had the fried rice and could barely eat it, it was dreadful. Personally, I say that's on him for ordering fried rice in a pho spot. We sat at the bar and the drinks were great, the bartender was either in a bad mood or just has a very dry sense of humor. I'd still go back to fussed at to have that pho again.
google avatar

Trae G.

Yelp
Maybe since it's off season and they are short staffed only one guy is bartender, server. That's not why the low score. The atmosphere is a small town Asian place. So nothing special. 2 of us had the rice platter one was shrimp one was combo platter. The third had Pho. The shrimp were was over cooked and lacked flavor even with the bland fish sauce. On the combo platter the meat tasted old and not very warm. Doesn't taste freshly cooked like I have where I live. Bad meat (hope I don't get sick) no flavor, like warm food is the reason for the low score. The Pho was good that's why 2 instead of a 1.

Yelp
This spot is absolutely amazing. The food was delicious and they are very generous with their portions! We got small phos that had a lot of protein, compared to other places that only give you like 4-5 pieces. Our server, Mike, was extremely friendly and provided excellent service. Highly recommend this restaurant if you're craving tasty and authentic Vietnamese food!

Jessie Q.

Yelp
creepy guy was hitting on a minor the whole time, talking to only her and paying no attention to the rest of the table and was being rude to his staff interfering with them in order to spend more time at our table. the food was amazing though would go back for more!
google avatar

Phyu T.

Yelp
It's a decent Vietnamese place for the area, a few mins away from Beaver Creek. The restaurant is medium sized. We went there for dinner and it was a little packed. You may need to wait for a table. I got Combo Vermicelli Bowl which was flavorful. The spring rolls are pretty good. Ambiance is nothing particularly striking. Service is ok.
google avatar

Yelp
Even better than last time! This is the BEST place to come after a long day of skiing when it's cold outside. The service is fast and the food is hot and satisfying. Nothing like a huge bowl of pho to warm you up! They do a great job with the broth and the toppings are fresh. Beware the large bowl is huge! :)
google avatar

Francine V.

Yelp
The food is the best in the US. Omg. Besides the best pho ever Mike the host with the most is professional , and very very hospitable. He is also charming, hardworking and gorgeous. Xoxo

Yelp
Great food great quality pho was so good add extra meat Warmed up your tummy Great service

Yelp
We come here every time we are in Avon and we absolutely love it! The portions are great, the broth is rich and delicious, and the service is great! Highly recommend.

Yelp
This is unanimously the best pho we've ever had. We are from New Orleans which is a foodie city with pho options everywhere. We all agreed that our version of what we ordered was the absolute best we've ever had. We sat outside and watched one man cook and serve this amazing meal by himself. Overheard him telling the next table's little girl he could make her an egg drop soup for her because she only liked that type of soup. I'm sure it was the best egg drop soup that kid ever had. Really great place to go if food is more important than atmosphere or rushed service. Crazy good. We plan on ordering again before we go home.
google avatar

Rebecca T.

Yelp
This is legit! Especially after a full day of snow activity, you walk into a cozy restaurant, and get a hot bowl of pho, how satisfying! OK, maybe I was biased coz I was cold, maybe it's not the best pho you'll ever have, but it's pretty good where we all, as a big group, enjoyed our food here. The food was hot and savory. Also, yes it could accommodate big groups, at least 8 people, so bring your family and friends here too!

Andy H.

Yelp
Was looking for easy takeout. Decided on Pho 20. Ordering was easy by calling the location. Full menu. Ordered and it was ready when I arrived. Place was packed with customers in the restaurant. Ordered Spring Rolls which weee perfect as well as (P7). Pho soup chicken. They knew how to package for takeout as everything was separated just how you'd get it at restaurant. If you like Pho this is your place

Yelp
Warm your soul after a long day of slicing through powder on the slopes. The Vietnamese coffee is a great start or finish to any meal here. Beautiful Boba too! Egg rolls and rice rules too! Broth of life will give you energy for more down hill memories. The soup is un"pho"gettable!
google avatar

Tracy Z.

Yelp
This was some delicious Pho! We started with the spring rolls and they were great. I like that the rice paper was nice and thin and sticky. Also the filling of shrimp and pork was so good. The peanut sauce is mild which I like because we add a lot of sriracha which makes it perfect. Our mains were both Pho, I had the flank steak and added tofu which was perfect. I am a huge fan of if the veggie accompaniments they serve with them so I appreciate the large serving of those. The broth is delish on its own, but we like spice so we ask for chili oil. My husband got the rare steak and brisket. The small serving is huge. This was our first time here so not sure if it always gets busy, but it was tonight. We beat the crowd, thankfully.

grayson l.

Yelp
Some of the best Pho I have ever had. We had dumplings and the steak pho. Definitely add the chili oil they have on the table (very spicy but delicious). They had very large portions for the large serving.

Yelp
Excellent food! Hits the spot when you need some warm soup or crave Vietnamese food. Recommend 100%!

Yelp
My first time eating Vietnamese. Guys, it's good. I'm going to blame it on the cooks at this place. It was all good and we enjoyed the laid back atmosphere. A+!
google avatar

Yelp
Clear beef broth and flavorful. The noodle cook to its alienated. The topping is filled to the rim of the bowl.

Yelp
Although the only Vietnamese restaurant that's walking distance to the Westin Riverfront Resort, it's still one of our favorites to dine at. The interior is not the reason to dine here, full bar on one side and cafeteria style seating on the left. The service is always on point and friendly. We've dined here several times, so I've tried multiple dishes. I would say the rice plates and vermicelli bowls are my favorite. Not to say that the pho is insipid, it's pretty good especially during those cold winter evenings. Also, beef is probably the best protein to choose, followed by the pork and lastly chicken, when ordering dishes that offer a choice. Overall I like coming here, and on occasion you will get to say hello to Lumpy the owner's dog.

Ed W.

Yelp
Perfect place to eat after a long drive. We were staying at the Christie Lodge and this place is basically attached. My daughter had Pho with shrimp and I had a combo vermicelli bowl. Both very tasty. Vermicelli noodles might have been a tad overcooked, but tasty nonetheless. The place was packed even at the end of the ski season, so they're doing something right. Service was a bit disjointed, but we didn't wait forever and they were busy too. Overall, a good place to get some good eats!

Sarah M.

Yelp
Fast and friendly! We enjoyed the small rare steak pho and it was sone of the best broth. Comes with sprouts, Thai basil, lime, and sliced jalapeños. The small was a perfect size for lunch.

Richard H.

Yelp
First timer at Pho 20 Best pho I've ever tasted Service was excellent Great deals on happy hour Ambience sports bar / Vietnamese restaurant

Yelp
Delicious food and great service!!! We enjoy the variety of Pho's and the hospitality of the servers.

Yelp
Food was great! Staff was awesome. Dined in, they were attentive and very friendly. Would recommend after a cold day on the slopes
google avatar

Yelp
This place never disappoints. Food is excellent! They do get busy though. The only thing that sucks when we went. You have to exit and go to the hotel next door for the restroom
google avatar

JemuelnleAnne M.

Yelp
What a joke!! We were guests in the hotel above the restaurant. We were asked to step outside into a dark waiting area while others were not asked. Our table of 5 was ignored while larger and smaller tables were sat down. There were no apologies nothing. By the time we were sat down I didn't even want to eat. As a traveler and food blogger I was highly disappointed I. The way we were treated and by the time food was served it didn't matter what it tasted like. Service is everything!!

Yelp
Pho 20 is a nice find in Beaver Creek. We walked in at the right moment. This spot being a walking distance to almost all major hotels. Fifteen minutes after we walked in the crowd showed up. So this is a restaurant leaning towards serving viet food. Not the aunthentic one. It's lacking the simple taste of fish sauce. That's why it's a bit bland. At least for Adams Pho Ga that I've tried. My initial order didn't sit well with me and I nicely asked for it to be replaced by a Chicken Vermicelli Bowl. Holy vermicelli Batman! This was a great bowl! The noodles were perfectly cooked. This bowl can be consumed straight from the fridge. Yes without zapping it. The sauce that came with it was enough to keep the noodles hydrated. I was a happy camper the following day! So this is a great find in a sense that their customer service is excellent. No hesitation at all when I asked for an exchange of my first order. She came back to me just to check if my replacement was ok. I dig her attitude or lack of it. She's the lone server and she rocked it. Although some assistance from the bar dude made the bill situation comical. Two checks. From each of them. For. One table. Lol! We just laughed at that situation. Too efficient! So. Stop by. Try what I ordered here or choose your own. Either way they're a four star first time visit kind of spot to me. I will be back for sure. I like them. And I like that Chicken Vermicelli Bowl a lot!

Yelp
Staying in Avon and came here with my gf for a last minute change of dinner plans. On a Saturday night at 8pm, it was still busy but we were easily able to get a table. Service was quick and staff were nice. There were lots of items on the menu- many egg/spring roll options for appetizers, lots of pho options and other entrees. We loved the spring rolls but felt like the vegetarian pho broth was somewhat bland and they only gave like 3 pieces of tofu for the whole large bowl. Prices are reasonable, with most entrees ~$15. The large pho bowl is easily enough for 2 people!! This was my first time trying mochi for dessert and it was sooo good!! In terms of ambience, I'd call it a casual spot and there are several TVs showing sports games. Overall, a solid spot.
google avatar

Wendell J.

Yelp
P12 and p7 you cant go wrong ordering pho soup watching soccer drinking some foreign beer in a small town in Colorado. And it's 20 degrees!! When I tell you this warmed me up.. YES!!!! COME CHECK IT OUT!,
google avatar

mango s.

Yelp
Ordered combination rice plate. Rice was dry and the chicken and steak meat was dry and tough. Really disappointed.

Jr L.

Yelp
We were staying at Avon and went in to the Pho 20 for dinner. The food was old and half the meal was rotten, one bite and had to spit it out. I had the chicken bowl. My friend had the wings and they were so dry and small he could not eat them. I am sorry but never had a total bad meal. I think this place will not do well there.
google avatar

Nathan N.

Yelp
Not bad for Pho. As someone who has literally eaten hundreds of bowls of pho, this one was surprisingly decent for being in Avon. I have had far worse bowls, and the noodle dishes were good too.

Kim C.

Yelp
I was really disappointed with the quality of food at Pho 20. The "Bun Combo" had dried overcooked meat, with 2 little shrimps. The "Combination Fried Rice" came out cold, 1 piece of shrimp that you had to search for, the vegetables were canned NOT fresh! However, the Vietnamese egg rolls came out nice & hot. If you have a fine taste of quality Vietnamese food, I would never recommend Pho 20 at Avon Colorado.
google avatar

Lauren W.

Yelp
Okay so my friends and I just spent a full week at the Christy Lodge where this restaurant is located. When I tell you we came here just about every damn day? I'm not lying. This place was such a godsend for us. First night, after being awake since 5am traveling.. a hot homemade bowl of pho made my entire day. The super nice bartender chatted easily with us and instantly made us feel like local regulars. Then we found out they have a daily happy hour from 3-6. If you're from a ski town in Colorado, this prob sounds normal to you. If you're anywhere outside of that .. it sounds like heaven! The food was pho-nomenal. We tried a little (more like a lot) of everything. All the kinds of pho, the appetizers, entrees, even the Vietnamese coffee. Highly recommend - any of the pho's (I liked the seafood, plus the P10), the perfectly crispy egg rolls, and the vermicelli combo bowl. The latter was so good - a bed of lettuce, a big layer of vermicelli, a HUGE layer of the most delicious chargrilled meats, and then topped with an egg roll cut into perfect bite sized pieces. Served with a really tasty and light fish sauce that was a great complement to the dish. We would have for sure eaten there every night had we not done grocery shopping before finding the place for our first dinner! Happy hour is excellent. 3-6, seven days a week. $2 beers (ANY BEER!), $3 Pinot Grigios, merlot, and Chardonnay, and $4 large sakes. They have a good selection of beer, wine, and a good smattering of liquor. Plenty enough for anyone to be able to find what they like. The staff was also the star of the show. Going there for a full week, I think we met everyone there possibly. Every single employee was awesome. SO friendly, and really made you feel at home. Shoutout to Justin, who kept our glasses full and took great care of us, and also the busser. I totally forget his name, I'm awful, but he was very nice. During COVID-19, their procedures were pretty similar to other restaurants in area. They allow seating at the bar, as of December, which was like a miracle for us from PA. They had removed about half of the bar stools, so no one sat on top of anyone else. The restaurant is crazy small, but they did as good of a job as they can to space people out. I never felt uncomfortable eating in. The restaurant also does a great takeout business. Every night, there was a steady stream of orders. I never once saw any customer wait for their food either. Def recommend for takeout if you're nervous to dine in. Thanks so much to Pho20 for treating us so well, and keeping us fed and hydrated all week.
google avatar

James D.

Yelp
First thing I want to say is that sometimes we're often weary of a place because of its reviews. Once again I'm glad we went with our gut instincts and just sent it in at Pho20. A lot of the reviews are pretty negative and I'm very curious as to why. The pho broth was scolding hot and loaded with flavor. The spring rolls were perfect. The service was just fine. It was an overall good pho experience. Would definitely go here again.
google avatar

Zerlina Z.

Yelp
This store is racist against Asians though it's an Asian cuisine. The waiter said "what the fxxx" behind our back after our friend asked him why the food hadn't arrived though the food arrived for other non Asian customer who arrived later than us. I would not recommend this place
google avatar

Christine B.

Yelp
No frills but delicious! Spring rolls were fresh and tasty, fried egg rolls light and not greasy. Lots of choices for the pho. I had the shrimp and it was nicely done. The broth is a bit sweet fir me but I added lime and it worked just right.
google avatar

Steve L.

Yelp
Fantastic Vietnamese spot. Vermicelli bowls offer ample and perfectly charred meat. Go with the pork! Spring rolls are packed, as expected. Great HH.
google avatar

Jake W.

Yelp
Food is great here. I used to eat here once a week on Fridays. We called it pho-riday.
google avatar

Molly M.

Yelp
Tried this place tonight with my girlfriend after several dinner plans were thwarted. We were seated immediately and the service was so prompt. We were given waters and menus immediately and the staff was so attentive. We ordered veggie spring rolls and a large tofu pho to share. The spring rolls were 10/10- so good. The pho was alright- we had to add a lot of sauces in to make the broth more flavorful and we wished there was more tofu and veggies in it but overall it was warm and hit the soot after a long day of skiing. We ordered some mochi ice cream for dessert- strawberry and mango and it was delicious. We regret not ordering a boba tea because they looked incredible. The prices were very reasonable. There is also a bar inside where guests can sit and order drinks and food. There were a lot of tvs inside playing various sports channels which was a little unexpected but other people seemed to enjoy.
google avatar

Ka Wo C.

Yelp
Get the brisket pho. It is to die for. I can't put my finger on what makes it so delicious -- perhaps the soup? Of all the beef cuts available, I think brisket was by far the best.

Travis W.

Yelp
great food and service. Mike the head server was amazing, fast and knowledgeable. help us first timers out and we were greatly appreciated it.
google avatar

Jason J.

Yelp
Ok at best. Got vermicelli noodles with pork. Other restaurants it comes with an egg roll. Guy said he would bring me out some but never did after I asked. It was a busy night and they were understaffed so service was slow. Pork could have had more flavor. It comes with a lot of noodles if you like it. Even the spring rolls did. Peanut sauce was ok too.
google avatar

Yelp
This pho here in Vail was good for this area maybe. The pho was hot but as others have yelped on the sweet side. In fact so was the fish sauce for dipping. All on the sweet side. In this particular pho you really need the lime wedges, I used 2. I was ok with it after the added lime but my kids still found it sweet. They are a busy restaurant so by 7 pm dinner, they ran out all drinks. It warmed my souls after skiing but once was enough. Pho bay was the other one I have to try if I have time. In this ski area of Vail I suppose we were lucky to even have this at close distance.
