Food: 8 out of 10 Service: 3.5 out of 5 Atmosphere: 4 out of 5 Price/Value: 4.5 out of 5 Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 Recommendations: Spring Rolls A decent and standard pho place. Service needs improvement because the server was always in the kitchen when I needed him to order, check out, etc. I think there are better pho places than 72 in D.C., so I probably won’t come back again.

Google
Pho 72 in the Columbia Heights area of Washington, DC, is a solid option for a casual meal. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, making it a great spot to enjoy a cozy bowl of pho. The service is friendly. You must request the hot pepper oil/chili pepper oil. The portions are generous, and the price is fair for the amount of food you get. The pho itself is tasty, with a good balance of flavors, though the broth could benefit from a little more depth and the meat portions could be a touch more generous. Overall, it's a good place to satisfy your pho cravings if you are in the area.

Stopped in for lunch with my wife, and we were able to be seated right away. Not busy when we got there, but as we were leaving, it started filling up. Several to go orders though so this place must be popular! I got the Pork Vermicelli, which was very tasty, and the pork was SO good. The sauce that came with it was just beautiful and paired well with the dish. My wife had the Shrimp Phơ which she enjoyed and I thought it tasted great. We also shared a Shrimp and Pork summer roll for appetizer, which was delicious. Don't skip over this restaurant, or you'll regret it later. It's on my list next time I visit DC.

My husband and i stopped in around 12-1pm. It was quiet and nice. We were greeted and waited on. It’s very calm in the atmosphere and welcoming. They have a nice selection on the menu and the presentation is wonderful. We ordered the chicken Pho. The flavor was absolutely amazing. We have been to many Vietnamese Restaurants and this place sits at number one for both of us. The flavor is strong and smells amazing. We went back a couple times after to support this business because it was so good. We didn’t realize we didn’t leave a tip the first time because there was no option on the card machine but we did the times after. 10/10 will absolutely be back when we have the opportunity.

It’s one of my favorite pho in town! I always get carry out! And the portion is great!

Google
Amazing Vietnamese restaurant, extremely flavorful and reasonably priced with large portions. Service is friendly and food is excellent. The pho 72 signature bowl is delicious and a generous serving.

Jennifer Parker

Google
This place is consistently good. Fairly big portion sizes, so also a good value for the price. I usually get their banh mi or vermicelli noodle bowls, but their fresh spring rolls are also delicious. Never a disappointment, always tasty! My go-to Vietnamese place!

Jennifer

Google
First time trying the place out. The pho was really good, not too oily and was flavorful. I also ordered the chicken dumplings and viet iced coffee. I was a bit confused why they put some of the meat in the broth because usually they have meat on the side but they had some meat in the broth and some in the noodle container. When taking the meat out the there wasn’t as much broth as expected but decent for the price and similar to other places I’ve tried. The dumplings were delicious, the viet coffee was a bit thick, maybe a bit to much condensed milk? but still good. Would recommend giving them a try if you’re in the area!

Yelp
I was in a rush and needed a bite to eat. Craving pho and in the dc area, I found this place which is rated well and somewhat hidden I was worried the food would take too long but they served it almost instantly and it was delicious

Yelp
Stumbled upon this great place in my neighborhood. When you try the food you'll see why it's so popular. The staff is super friendly and exceptionally welcoming. It goes a long way! Price point is great for the DC area. I have had the banh mi a few times so far and the spring rolls. I can't wait to try the actual pho. this sandwich is always super flavorful. The bread is a hit every time - the combination is just way better than any regular sandwich you'll get in the area. Service is quick and they offer to go orders!

Yelp
Although I've only experienced ordering delivery, Pho 72 always hits the spot. My delivery orders are typically well packaged and regardless of the order, the broth is always so flavorful. I have a terminally ill dog at home with an appetite that comes and goes. But recently, he's been on a noodle kick and will typically perk up to eat some noodles dripping in this delicious broth. Also, there is usually a generous amount of meat, veggies and herbs packed to assemble a few delicious bowls and everything is always so fresh and consistent. Hard to go wrong here, so will continue to keep Pho 72 in the rotation!
google avatar

Jen W.

Yelp
Decent Pho. Wish they would supply the correct spices and sauces to make the broth spicy.

Lauren J.

Yelp
There is so much good pho in the area and Pho 72 is one of the best. The owners are very kind and the service is quick. The broth is really what sets this place apart from others. If you're in Colombia heights and wondering which pho place to try, I recommend this one.
google avatar

Yelp
Great pho as far as dc goes - broth and components were all solid. The cha gio was just ok. Will come back to try more things Service is friendly and quick. They have tap to pay/mobile readers to pay

Yelp
Went back last weekend to grab a combination bahn mi and it was not the same, not enough pickled carrots and radish and it old, cucumbers cut in a circle not long ways, no cilantro and jalapeno on a bahn mi! Did they get a new cook ? Or new owner quality down hill. It did not look like the sandwiches I use to get previously a year ago.

Yelp
I got take out on a rainy day after work. Honestly, I had been putting off getting Vietnamese food in DC for weeks since moving here because I grew up in Little Saigon, Orange County, California and was blessed with delicious Việt food all my life. Needless to say, I didn't want to disappoint myself since I've had high expectations, especially with Pho as I'd always get every week. However, I was craving a nice bowl of Pho, and ordered the Pho 72 to-go. It was the best surprise that I've had while eating here. The flavour of the broth was on point and the meat portions were generous. The workers here are really nice and made me feel like home, even if our interaction was brief. Would definitely come back again, this place is fire.

Yelp
My friend recommended this new spot, and after eating here I immediately saved it on doordash so I can get it delivered in the future LOL. I had the pho 72, and the broth tasted flavorful but clean, so I didn't have to guzzle water after eating to wash out the msg. The meat was tender too, but I wish they gave a little more - portion wasn't bad, but some other places do give more. I also tried the shrimp and pork summer rolls and the pork banh mi. The summer rolls were a little smaller than I'm used to, but they tasted good. The banh mi baguette was AMAZING - so perfectly crispy outside and fluffy inside. The meat was pretty good, though the seasoning was different from what I'm used to. It had a little curry or turmeric flavor for some reason? It was good, but different. The owner/manager was also super friendly! My partner and I had already ordered pho and summer rolls but were talking about the banh mi, and he came over and said he could add one to our order if we wanted LOL. He checked up on us regularly and was so welcoming with all the customers, both dine in and takeout. So happy to finally have a solid pho spot in DC!

Yelp
I was a little surprised someone tried opening up another Pho place in CoHi when we already have 14. But here we are, and I gotta say props to them trying! Came to for a classic pho special with all the meats, as well as rocket shrimp for the lulz. The shrimp were more than meets the eye - actually got a little leaf of Thai Basil or mint with the shrimp which changes things up. The pho was pretty solid, toppings were fresh and broth had plenty of fat/umami. I did think the broth had too much lime already for my taste - but on another visit to 14 that one was even worse - so by comparison I'd rather have this one. Menu here is a little smaller but I do think there's enough effort to make their food standout. Would certainly come back if I'm craving Viet food and can't leave DC.

Yelp
The BEST Pho is DC hands down. Never a miss and consistently great flavors. I order from them at least 3-4 times per month.

Yelp
It is good. Compared to the options around. Go there tip them. Parking sucks so take the train or bus or ride share

Yelp
This place is definitely family run. It has that warm homey vibe with fabulous customer service. I came here based on the reviews of others that it was more authentic than other places and it definitely was different. I went on a Saturday night and it wasn't busy and thought maybe I had the wrong place? I gave it a shot and I wasn't disappointed. What I liked was many of the dishes didn't have an oily feel. The Bahn mi was delicious, and my favorite dish was the Shaky Beef. It's on the sweeter side which I didn't expect but, so good! I can't say enough about the kindness being served with. It's not a perfect place - like I noticed spelling errors in the menu etc. BUT there is a personal touch and you can feel heart, soul and hard work in the place. Definitely a place you need to try for yourself. We had the taro smoothie which was great if you don't like boba too sweet. UPDATE: Sooooo we had the Bahn Mi for leftovers the next day and OMG! EVEN BETTER THE NEXT DAY! THE BEST I have ever tasted! JUST WOW! I can't wait to go again! Jen my server was The best! LOVE this place for the left overs!!! I wish I had more!

Yelp
Every time I come to Pho 72 the service is quick and the pho is delicious. The beef broth is pretty clear, rich, and has deep flavor. I tried the Taro smoothie after Bobby (I think that's his name - he's the team member I see most often when I go) suggested it and I get it every time now. It's not overly sweet which makes it nice after the savory pho. This is pretty much my go to place for pho. I usually get the beef broth with combination of meat and the portions are nice. I've tried a few of the appetizers and they're also made fresh and taste good. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Delicious pho! The broth is amazing and the ingredients are quality. This is a fast casual place, great for dine-in or take-out. The service is friendly and efficient. Definitely recommend checking out pho 72 if you're in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
As a San Diego native, I grew up eating pho from local mom & pop Vietnamese restaurants, and this is one of the few places I've found in the DMV that really hits the spot! No frills pho with a broth that is incredibly fragrant and delicious. We ordered delivery from here and they did not skimp on the meat at all. My litmus test for a good bowl of pho is when the broth itself is so satisfying + flavorful, I don't feel the need to open up the sriracha / hoisin sauce packets. Pho 72 passes this test with flying colors -- will 100% be ordering from here again!

Yelp
I ordered some takeout from this place. Order the pho 72 which is sliced beef and meat balls. I also got some summer rolls. Starting with the service was quick and friendly. Food was hot and ready when I got there. Was packed well and had no leaks. The summer rolls were fresh tasting and had a nice peanut sauce for dipping. The lettuce inside was nice and crisp and shrimp tasted good. The pho was a bit disappointing the broth tasted a little flat. It didn't taste any of the usual richness that you get. The menu didn't say what type of broth it was. I didn't get much beef or another type of flavor with it. The other ingredients tasted good and were well cooked and juicy. Good portion size.

Amy T.

Yelp
The pho was pretty good but I ordered the pho 72, which is supposed to come with meatballs, and it didn't have any meatballs. Otherwise, pretty good, very pleased with how they packaged all the items separately for delivery.

Yelp
I went to Pho 72 recently on a trip to DC. I was craving pho and went to this spot, which was open early on a Sunday morning. The space is along a strip. It is very clean on the inside, with a good number of tables. The people who run the restaurant are Vietnamese. Service was good, and the food came out really quickly, which was great. I tried the following dishes: Pho Ga (4.5/5): The pho was good. There was a decent amount of noodles, a complex broth, and a good amount of chicken (although it was on the dry side). It definitely hit the spot. Goi Cuon Chay / Vegetarian Summer Rolls (4/5): These were nice and fresh, very standard, with tofu instead of shrimp or pork. Came with a good peanut sauce. No complaints with this dish. I enjoyed my meal at Pho 72. I would definitely recommend it as a spot to get good pho in this area.

Yelp
TL;DR Great service and highly recommend! Today was raining and I knew I wanted a hot bowl of soup. I have tried other pho places around but haven't found a favorite so stopped by Pho 72 right by the metro station. As soon as I walked through the door there was a little Buddhist offering with a bowl of pho. I knew right away this place would be authentic. But when I stepped in the restaurant, it was empty and I came to eat alone. The waiter quickly welcomed me and allowed me to pick any seat (they did this for the groups that followed). A little bit unsure since no one was around I was hesitant but knew I wanted to eat pho and some spring rolls. I ordered some and they were super quick with their service and asked if I was okay with chopsticks (they did this for everyone). Another group of 2-3 came in and then three people came to eat alone after me. They were super kind in letting people choose their own seat and taking their orders. The waiter came to check in on me three or more times for water and asking if the food was okay. They even gave me a little packed peanut sauce for my togo leftovers. The food: delicious and great price for DC area! I grew up eating pho and was impressed. I'll be coming back if I need another warm bowl of soup (prob vry soon)!!

Yelp
Including MD (and Baltimore), all of DC, and Eden Center -- I think this is the best pho in the area. It's all about the broth, and this clear and sweet broth (grease and fat are left in only if the broth is lacking) is the best so far. Also, - Authentic DC chả giò (egg rolls): 72 serves it with lettuce, daikon/carrots, that you use to wrap the egg rolls before dipping; the ONLY place in DC to serve it this authentic. - Their banh mi--lemongrass pork & chicken--is like my grandma's. This is hands down the best Viet spot in DC so far.

Yelp
So I accidentally stumbled across this spot recently after the original spot I usually get pho from was closed one day I had rode out to get some. I'll be the first to tell you that pho72 is the real deal. The broth is so full of flavor! The bowl comes with all the normal pho garnishes including Thai Basil, jalapeños, bean sprouts, cilantro, and lime. I've been back a few times since my first visit but I only have had the shrimp pho, and firecracker shrimp. If you're in the area you most definitely should check this spot out.
google avatar

Abe K.

Yelp
Good riddance to Shanghai Tokyo. There was so much potential for a Chinese spot (that actually had decent late night food) but closed so early. I'd much rather have another pho restaurant (might be the 4th one in Columbia Heights) but is much better than Pho 14 when you consider taste and service. The broth is light but still flavorful, probably from the MSG but trust there isn't too much where you'll fall asleep right away. It'll just take you to your happy place *cue Happy Gilmore*. My heart still goes out to Nina's lemongrass pho up the street but when looking for a regular pho, this place is a quick fix.
google avatar

Liz S.

Yelp
This was our first time a Pho 72. Skipped the pho and perhaps that was a mistake. The Banh Mi was okay - great bread, pork, but I felt that it was not quite flavourful enough. My friend was not that thrilled with their meal either - veggies on the crispy noodles. Still, very nice people and appreciate their efforts. No sure if will return - there are pho places closer to me that offer multiple dishes that are pretty darn good!
google avatar

Tre S.

Yelp
This was my first time here. Ordered the chicken spring rolls, wings, combo banh mi sandwich, pho ga soup and pho beef soup. Everything was sooooo good. I will return.
google avatar

W C.

Yelp
Staff was really friendly and courteous. The decor and ambiance was typical of a Vietnamese restaurant. The pho was good, but had way too much MSG. If you can taste the MSG, it's too much! The grilled pork dish was ok. It wasn't what I was expecting so maybe that's why I want to impressed.
google avatar

Nicole T.

Yelp
Hands down, this is the best pho in town! Great customer service, pho came out fast and hot and was the perfect portion. The broth smells and taste so authentic. Couldn't have gone to a better pho spot!

Kayley V.

Yelp
Honestly - if you're from out of town or from here...this is THE SPOT for Vietnamese food. We had Pho and summer rolls! Honestly the broth is authentic to what Pho needs to be with all the right toppings/flavor. It's a cute family shop - and the waiter could not be more kind. SHOUTOUT TO THIS AWESOME SPOT - must try!
google avatar

Dune A.

Yelp
Look no further. The food was fantastic, I wish I had a second stomach to finish the rest. I got the Pho 72 and my best friend got the clay pot and they are both amazing. Our waiter was a true joy. We are from out of town and that's the only reason we won't be here next week.
google avatar

Courtney W.

Yelp
Yes yes yes! Travels well for delivery too. No complaints- great flavor and great sizing. Nothing better on a Sunday afternoon or on a gray day!
google avatar

Quinn S.

Yelp
I was really impressed with the Pho Tai. I have been a regular at a different local Pho restaurant but will mix it up with going to Pho 72.
google avatar

Dolphin B.

Yelp
I get takeout everytime I order from here. However, it doesn't lack in flavor or having enough. It is soooo delicious... oh my gosh it's so good. You choose your vegetables and your protein or shrimp. I get extra shrimp and it's sooooo good. I'm definitely ordering it again...and again

Kai L.

Yelp
Overall: 8.25 Taste: 8/10 - Pho 72 Combo broth was light but still had a good meaty flavor. Meat was a little tough but noodles were good. The typical vegetables were offered with it and the green onions were a nice touch Price: 7/10 - Decent sized bowl but was very expensive at almost $20. Can get much cheaper pho at other places Service: 10/10 - The server was very friendly and treated me very kindly and addressed me in a very casual way Ambience: 8/10 - Very average looking Vietnamese place but appreciated the cleanliness of the restaurant
google avatar

Sam N.

Yelp
The pho here is delicious. -1 star the broth had a little too much fish sauce, a tad too salty.
google avatar

Claire Y.

Yelp
Best pho place in DC. I used to be loyal to Pho Viet (also in Columbia Heights) but the quality and service has gone downhill, so I'm really glad we found this spot. Taro boba smoothie is sooo good, as are the wings, rocket shrimp rolls, and pho
google avatar

Katelyn W.

Yelp
This pho is delicious! My husband and I love it so much that we have ordered takeout 4 times since it opened a couple of months ago.
google avatar

Daniela G.

Yelp
Great service and food! It is great for take out as well. Will come back and get the bubble tea which looks good :)
google avatar

Nicole T.

Yelp
Fantastic food. You can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches or pho options-- they have veggie options! The service was so fast and friendly! Perfect comfort food.

Rebecca S.

Yelp
This place is so good. The pho is sooo savory and delicious. The lemongrass chicken ban mi is one of the best I've ever tried (so well spiced). Customer service is great and there's plenty of spacious seating.

Camilla S.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I have become regulars at Pho 72! All the dishes we've tried have been consistently very good (the pho broth is amazing -- I usually get the Pho Tai Chin Nam) and the family that runs it are friendly and attentive. This is a yummy, reasonably priced, low-key place to grab dinner in Columbia Heights. Highly recommend!
google avatar

J C.

Yelp
Very good pho broth! Clean and plenty of space. Generous portions. Chicken is a bit salty but not bad. Spring roll, banh MI and vermicelli bowl not bad. My quick stop before doing groceries at Giant across the road.
google avatar

Justin B.

Yelp
Sweet Mother Mary this place is absolutely fantastic. The wait staff was attentive and made sure we were always topped off on waters and that our food was to our liking. Speaking of which the Tero Smoothie was magnificent, and the food was both visually appealing and perfectly appetizing. The waiter managed to memorize all our orders (we were a group of five by the way) to the letter without pen or paper. We found the place after we got lost in D.C. and it got super cold so we were looking for a hot meal. Thankfully, Pho 72 satisfied our every need better than the hotel we stayed in. The staff were super friendly and managed to make us feel welcome and cared for. Great price, great food, great staff, greatest part of D.C.

Amanda Y.

Yelp
Customer service was amazing and food was delicious! Definitely coming again! Felt very cozy inside as well

Nora R.

Yelp
I went in to order to-go and the gentleman working was very sweet and provided nice service and brought me a drink while I waited. I asked for no fish sauce and he made a point to ask if I was a vegan to make sure I was all taken care of. Food was very tasty too!

Linh N.

Yelp
Food is very good. Amazing family run business. Excellent service from the front man.

Jessie A.

Yelp
My husband tried the chicken bahn mi and I had the shrimp pho. Both were very delicious with lots of flavors. We will definitely go back!!

Jeff N.

Yelp
SHOUT OUT BOBBY ! Great waiter , great food and amazing place to get some pho and other Vietnamese staple foods

Kei F.

Yelp
I've been here a couple times and they have fantastic pho and more. The taro smoothie is to die for!
