"Get Your Pho on in Montreal While the map says it's located in Montreal 's Chinatown, do not let yourself be scared of labels. The area is more of a melting pot of several Asian cultures rather than the Chinese alone—luckily for us, if I do say so: the more the merrier! Pho Bang is one of the best Vietnamese eateries I've been in North America, and I'm positive it will rock your socks too. The decor, as in most Asian restaurants, is simple and even a little bit corny, but what does it matter when you are about to have the best pho of your life, right? Make sure to order #33—you can thank me later. The nems are out of this world! Insider's tip: Avoid the rush at lunch hour by arriving before 12 or after 1 in order to not be rushed by busy office workers."

The Best Vietnamese Restaurants for Pho in Montreal - Eater Montreal

"Communal tables and steamy soup make for an intimate experience at this Chinatown pho shop. The generous servings of meat in the broth make it tempting to share a giant bowl with a friend, but you’re going to want your own to slurp those noodles and tasty broth in peace." - Amie Watson

Walked in, held up fingers for how many in our party, and we were seated right away. Tables are two-tops pushed together depending on group size—efficient, no-nonsense setup. The beef in the pho was excellent—tender, well-cooked—but the broth was forgettable. Not bad, just didn’t stand out. My son’s chicken and rice plate was clean and filling, but so neutral it could’ve come from half a dozen different places. No standout seasoning, no distinct flavor. Cash only, but they did take U.S. dollars and even gave a small discount—so that was a pleasant surprise. Fast service, decent prices, no big complaints—but nothing special either. If you’re nearby and hungry, it’ll do. But if you’re chasing top-tier pho in Montréal, this isn’t the destination.

Pho Bang New York is hands down the best spot for authentic Vietnamese pho in Chinatown. As a loyal customer for the past three years, I can confidently say that their quality never wavers—every visit delivers the same delicious, consistent flavors that keep me coming back. One thing to note is that it's a cash-only establishment, but they do have an ATM inside for convenience (just be aware of the small service fee). Despite this minor inconvenience, the fantastic food and reliable experience make it well worth it. If you're looking for a no-frills, dependable pho spot in Chinatown, Pho Bang New York is the place to go!

Google
I love this Pho place. The price is right, the portions are big and the service is one of the fastest in town. The pho is delicious and the spicy weekend special pho is even better. I almost never have to wait for a table. One of the best spots in Chinatown imo. They have been accommodating of my food restrictions, which I appreciate a lot. Please note they only take cash but they have an ATM next to the area where you go to pay.

So far, the best Vietnamese food I had in Montreal! Their noodle grilled chicken 🍲 soup is 👌 👍. Their grilled beef + chicken +rice is a MUST try 🤪. Give it a try 👌. Prices are fairly well. All in all: Quality 👍, price 👍. This is my spot and will be in my monthly to go list! Just keep in mind: no credit card, no debit, only Cash!

This morning I went to this restaurant to eat pho but the experience was really bad. First of all I ordered 2 small pho bowls but they brought me a small and a large instead. The waiter said they had made a mistake, so they would charge me the price of the small bowl for the large bowl, as a result for their inconvenience. However, they didn’t, and instead charged me a small and a large bowl, even though that was not what I originally ordered. They tried to up-sell me. I didn’t want to be difficult for that waiter and I also didn't want to complain because I still intended to pay the correct price of what I had originally ordered. But the food was so bad. I couldn’t even finish it because of how bland and tasteless in was. I felt like they intentionally wanted to sell it at a higher price to force me to pay a lot of money. If you want to find a Vietnamese pho restaurant to eat, you should not come here.

I am glad to say that my first time in so many years was not disappointing at all. The clear broth is rich in flavour and complements the noodles and the beef so greatly. The noodles are not overcooked unlike a lot of other restaurants and the beef is just right. The beef cooks while you eat and every bite is tender and juicy which is delightful. The service however is still a bit lacking. Even though they were efficient and polite, the waiters were not really friendly or welcoming. Most of the things were almost thrown on the table. The atmosphere is enjoyable but I do feel like it is a bit cramped in the restaurant, especially during busy times. Finally, the food is pretty affordable. For around 15$, you can get a large bowl that is quite filling. Compared to most restaurants, the price is pretty inexpensive considering that 15$ is tax included. (5 years ago) Lovely place with great quality of beef. The broth and the noodles also tasted great. The ambiance is a bit rowdy yet still enjoyable. A little crowded given that the place isn't that big, but still had a nice time. The drinks were pretty good too. The service was friendly, but not very welcoming. Could have been because it has been a long day since we went an hour before closing time. Still, the waiter was nice. In terms of price, pretty reasonable, 9$ for a small bowl, 10$ for a large bowl and 11$ for an extra large. In my opinion, it is one of the best restaurant options in China Town.

Google
Overall a very good experience. I ordered the weekend special noodle and it was excellent. They gave me plenty of meat and it was very fresh! Wish they gave me more noodles but it's fine. I ordered extra portion so there is that. Service could be better here but as is the case in many Asian restaurants that are busy, YOU NEED TO BE LOUD!

Google
Terrible service!! My family and I had a terrible experience with an AGGRESSIVE WAITER who complained to us in front of everyone for not leaving enough of a tip. This place does not accept card payments, and we didn't have enough cash, which is why we couldn't tip enough. The waiter realized we were tourists and, aside from treating us poorly, told us that in Canada it was MANDATORY to leave at least a 15% tip (we had given less than that). He told us what we were doing was illegal and called us stupid for not knowing the country's laws. Finally, he told us that next time we should "go to McDonald's”, It may have been the only intelligent thing he said. I recommend everyone not go and not support these places that prey on tourists, since they portray the city in a negative light.

Yelp
It was lunch time on a Sunday and craving for some authentic pho. Most of the nearby restaurants had long lineups and we settled for Pho Bang New York with no lineup, and it was getting pretty late. We ordered 2 identical medium size rare beef Pho, the bare basic and nothing sophisticated in order that we can get our order fast. What is basic for one is not basic for others as it took a long time to get just 2 bowls of Pho. The soup was hot but not boiling hot as I would have expected. Taste was just OK, and the amount of meat was satisfactory. I was sitting at the end table facing the kitchen entrance and I can tell you that the sight was not a good one. I can tell when hygiene is not on the top priority list. I dread to visualize how the interior kitchen would look like. We finished our lunch and went to the cashier to foot the bill and a sign " Cash Only" took me by total surprise. I do not always carry cash on me but luckily I had just enough to settle the bill. I subsequently read the reviews and crystal clear that I was not the only one caught with the Cash Only situation. This teaches me a lesson of not reading the reviews before stepping in a restaurant or business.

Yelp
Rude and terrible attitude staff. Cash only and does not display it on the outside. We were the first to sit down and everyone around us ordered and was served tea 30 minutes before us. Basic drinks like tea or water did not come till 30 minutes later and we had to remind them that we did not get our tea. Then another 30 minutes to order and when asked questions about their menu, the staff gave us an attitude. After seeing how others came after us and received their food, we asked the waiter for our Coke that we ordered in advance and he gave us an attitude. When the Coke cake, it exploded on us and he did not care. We also asked him for a refill in tea and he never brought the pot back. We spoke to the owner of the situation in which he was siding with his staff . They truly did not understand that the customer comes first. For the food - do not get the grilled chicken pho - ridiculous, broth was not strong, and food was not good. They pride themself with New York in their name but it does not live up to the expectation. Table and floor was wet and sticky. Not the cleanest.

Yelp
So... I have eaten at the NY chapters often and this one mostly reflects the original. The noodle and meats are well seasoned. BUT skip the spring rolls. SAD reflection of what is customary. It was mostly cabbage which traditionally isn't even an ingredient. Another ding is my male waiter who used my table as a serving station. Once is understandable, but not throughout my meal. CASH ONLY
google avatar

Yelp
***WARNING THEY DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS*** CASH ONLY So, because I have been paying everything with a credit card, I did not check the exchange rate until I departed the restaurant. My meal was $35.72 Canadien and the cashier told me 31.00 USA. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN $27.30. He added in a tip, plus I gave $35.00 because I always tip. The food was tasty, just be aware that you may pay more money than you plan to pay. Also, I didn't see a sign out front that said CASH ONLY, WHICH WOULD HAVE PROMPTED ME TO CHECK THE EXCHANGE RATE.

Yelp
The best pho in town. I recall coming here when I was a teenager with friends and it's always been good. Price is cheap and you get a very big portion of good pho soup. Everything is served with fresh tea that I must one day ask for what tea it is cause I very like it (and I hate tea). Normally, tea doesn't taste anything for me but this one does. As for the pho soup, there's multiple option but I always take the beef one. It's perfectly balanced between the broth, the beef and the noodle. I've tried once the spicy special during week end. Broth was good but I didn't like the cut of meet used for the beef in that one. There's many other offering than soup but aside the Imperial rolls which are also very good, I never tried anything. I come here for the pho soup even if it's an hour drive. The staff is very friendly, speak French and English (plus their native language) and the food is fast to be served. The place is very small so seating is limited. If you come at lunch or diner, do expect a wait.

Yelp
Delicious pho broth. Soooo much meat in my soup. They have bun bo hue on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Line out the door for a reason. This place is always busy and after eating here twice I understand why. Looking at everyone's dishes I wanted to try so many things because everything looked so good. I liked the soup. It was light and meaty with good seasoning. It was unique and not overpowering at all. Perfect amount of meat and noodle ratio. And I can honestly say I had meat with every bite until I finished my bowl. The bun bo hue was delicious but I liked the classic pho dac biet. It was so delicious. And I am extremely picky with my vietnaemse soups bc my boyfriend is vietnamese. A must in montreal chinatown. If you only eat in one place in chinatown in montreal. This is the place to go.

Yelp
I'm from New York so I've been to the Pho Bang there. I visited Montreal over New Years weekend and lots of shops were closed on New Year's Day. However, you can always rely on Chinatown to be open. I was looking forward to some comfort food since I've had lots of pastries and poutine over the past few days anyway. It was packed inside but thankfully, we didn't have to wait for a table (however, there were multiple parties waiting when we left). The menu is smaller than the ones in New York but still had the classic rice and noodle dishes. We ended up getting the pork summer rolls, grilled pork + crab patty + shredded pork rice plate, and the classic pho. The pork summer rolls were disappointing. It had the same shredded pork as the rice plate but it was bland and had no flavor. The fish sauce was also pretty strong / smelly. The rice plate was delicious, a classic. Their crab patty was one of the best things on the plate. It was warm and had imitation crab. The grilled pork was decent, a bit dry. The shredded pork, again, had very little flavor but we used the fish sauce to help. The pho dac biet was very warming on a cold winter day. It had brisket, tripe, and raw meat added on top which was basically just brisket too. So basically, it was just brisket and tripe. I wished it had more ingredients like the ones in New York. It was also an XL but it really didn't seem like there was more noodles / ingredients. It was just a bigger bowl with more soup. The noodles were the perfect texture though! If you're looking for a simple, affordable, comforting meal, this is it. If you're looking for impeccable service and high quality food, this probably isn't it. I enjoyed it but it's a lower tier than the one in New York.

Yelp
The pho's broth was to my liking, sweet and hot. They weren't cheap about the meat which was a nice touch. The service was quick and we got there right when it was opened. It was pretty busy after we sat down. The restaurant was clean and welcoming.

Yelp
Out of all the pho places in Montreal Chinatown, we decided to come back here as i recall the food being quite good in the past. And after several days of eating pasta and sandwiches, I needed some asian food in my stomach. One thing that was noticeably different this time compared the the last time we were here (a few years ago) was that it was pretty empty inside. Last time it was packed full! I chalked it up to maybe it was still early for dinner, just after 5p. We ordered the #1 special XL pho, grilled chicken and minced pork dry noodle (bun), and a grilled pork, ground pork and layered egg broken rice. The food came very quickly as food normally does at any pho restaurant. However the food was mediocre at best this time. the flavours were not quite there. the pho came in a large bowl, was mostly soup, some brisket, some flank and some raw beef. I didn't see any meat balls, or tripe. the pork for the broken rice dish was tough. The only dish that was better wasn't the bun. Next time i'll likely check out the other Vietnamese restaurants in the area if the craving hits.

Yelp
The dishes are super great, so are the noodle soups. They're ALWAYS super buzzingly busy and there's always a line up. Waiters make sure you get seats there, so you don't need to wait too long. I like the atmosphere there, although it is a bit noisy
google avatar

Hungry L.

Yelp
This restaurant doesn't have good food or service. It is very busy so either people don't know what Vietnamese food should taste like or this is as good as it get in Montreal. I'm from Los Angeles so we have excellent Vietnamese food there. Pho and the Bun Bo Hue were all devoid of the spices that make the dish. Cash only restaurant...

Beny B.

Yelp
Very good food. Price is very affordable for what you get. Staff is helpful and they give you your space to eat.

Sherry P.

Yelp
We have been coming for 10+ years and the food is always fast and delicious. This last time, there was one server who was rude and refused to take our order because we didn't order enough for the seats we were taking up (note that we ordered 4 dishes for 5 people AND it was 2pm and not busy). Luckily another server came to take our order but that one server really soured our experience and will rethink coming back.

Rene H.

Yelp
The pho came fast and was SO flavorful. The sides were amazing and fresh -the bean sprouts just perfect The drinks were spot on. The lemonade hit the mark
google avatar

Tara Ann B.

Yelp
Food was delish, best vegetarian imperial rolls I've ever had. Served me free tea. I got the grilled chicken. And vegetable pho. The carrots are whole baby carrots which is weird but the broth and chicken were awesome so I can't complain about that. I can however complain that when I asked for a 10 back they tried to just give me a 5 and they don't accept cards, simply cash with an atm in there that has a 3$ withdraw charge. The tables are quite close to one another which makes it a bit crowded and impeaches on private conversations but overall the food is yummy enough and priced well enough that I would go back

Lei H.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant to avoid waiting, but it wasn't worth it. The food was average, and the service was the worst I experienced during my week in Montréal. The waitstaff were extremely impatient and rude, especially to those who didn't look like locals. They only accept cash and even force you to leave tips for their poor service. There are many great restaurants in Chinatown, so I recommend avoiding this one if you can.

Rich P.

Yelp
Can yelp admin update to allow zero stars? Service and attitude absolutely uncalled for... owner and staff reach in your pockets and grab a clue. We made effort to visit on vacation and will take our business elsewhere in future.. consumer BEWARE...
google avatar

Justin W.

Yelp
Food is above average. Service is absolutely terrible. The young kid with L elbow/ forearm tattoo was extremely rude and unprofessional, took my order wrong and yet still argued he had it right. I specified to have my raw beef to be on the side for my pho. When my pho came, the raw beef were in my pho. I clarified with him that this was not what I ordered, he was not receptive and became very argumentative and states that "that is on the side" when clearly the raw beef were all in the broth in the pho and was the same as the other pho my friends had ordered.

Amir H.

Yelp
Rude staff, poor quality food, no credit cards accepted. Most importantly, the staff are super rude and unfriendly. Stay away from this.
google avatar

Janice T.

Yelp
Almost got scammed for lunch today. The price on the hand written receipt was a lot more expensive compared to the printed receipt. They didn't give us the printed receipt at first and only after we paid and realized that the meal was unreasonably expensive that they gave us a refund after printing out the actual receipt. Also unapologetic afterwards
google avatar

Albert C.

Yelp
Extremely poor service. Don't know where the hype coming from. Spoiled soup on my backpack but no staff wanted to clean up or apologize.
google avatar

Julia O.

Yelp
I see some reviews complaining that the food wasn't good and stuff, but I personally think it tasted incredible! The pho tasted very real and the staff were kind. When I arrived, their were a lot of people inside so I had to wait a while to be seated but it was worth it. I recommend.

K H.

Yelp
We were asked to change table twice after sitting down. I ordered the simple pork chop rice. And they forgot my order. Everyone in my party finished the pho and I was still waiting. When I tried to get the waiter's attention, always "give me a second or hold on." I am happy that I don't have to tip in Montreal. The only positive comment is that the place looks relatively clean despite the chaotic operation. Will I go back again? No! I have had better Vietnamese food in the Boston area. And better service obviously.
google avatar

Leung Y.

Yelp
Fast service. Pay at front desk / cashier. Ordered the safest choice special pho. I ordered the extra large as I were starving after skipping lunch on my train ride into Montreal. As the first meal in Montreal, it is great. Definitely a family restaurant. Lots of kids around. The find is slightly above average, though it is not to find a good bowl of similar pho else where in other places. The decor is special and definitely show old style Vietnamese which I love. I don't think I will miss that food, but definitely a place to try if you are new into town and trying to find a great eat with family.
google avatar

Haque I.

Yelp
Had Vietnamese food after quite some time and i must say I am impressed. We had two different kinds of vermicelli dishes and it was sooo good. The beef and the chicken were perfectly cooked and they were so juicy. The portion was way more than what I would say generous and the staffs were so friendly and cordial. We finished it off with Vietnamese coffee which was also great. Would definitely recommend anyone to try this place. Given the COVID situation it might be scary to go out for eating but this place is very cautious and maintain the numbers of people who can be inside at a time
google avatar

Jacky B.

Yelp
First time trying pho. It all started as we were walking in Chinatown and now ticked this place had a line up out the door, was kinda odd in my opinion but figured it had to have something special. Decided to try it, like moved fast and we got seated. Decided to try their "7" on the menu, I would tell you what it's named but I have no idea haha. All I know is it came decently fast, very well seasoned and all flavours. Server offered chopsticks a fork and a soup spoon/scooper. The quality of the meat in the pho soup was really good. I would highly recommend this place for efficiency and taste
google avatar

Yue Y.

Yelp
Suck service and especially the owner is very rude and snobbish. They will serve those groups with more people first, even you are coming first, you already sit down at the table, they will ask you to go out just because your group is smaller. And they are trying to evade tax which I will definitely make a claim.
google avatar

Aimee H.

Yelp
I'm just a really big fan of the grilled beef dish which is the only thing I eat here. So keep in mind my rating is only for this dish and nothing else :) The beef is butterflied, marinated and with some lemongrass and grilled (to tasty perfection). I pretty much eat only the beef and rice. The rice is covered with fried onion oil and I usually douse it with fish sauce. Served with a bunch of pickled carrots and daikon and fresh sprigs of cilantro on top!
google avatar

Elaiza S.

Yelp
Very busy but delicious food! I would easily crave eating here! We went on a super busy saturday lunch hour. It was packed! We were a a table of 8 and the food came out pretty fast despite the traffic inside! Long lineup as we headed out as well!

H M.

Yelp
I literally just had the BEST and most delicious Vietnamese food, ever!!! The veggies and beef broth is to simply die for! I had two bowls. And, w also had the grilled beef and chicken over rice! Simply amazing and just exceptionally tasty! Service too is amazing and so is the environment. If you are in downtown Montreal, please walk in and just give it a try. For me, it was a random stop as I was walking around Chinatown. I am so glad I came here! You will not regret it.
google avatar

Calvin S.

Yelp
It's a busy place for sure, especially during lunch. Expect to eat, finish, and be immediately out if the place is busy. The menu is basic and simple, although they do have some specials on weekends. Don't expect anything out of the ordinary though. I had the large #3, which was the flank and tripe. It was pretty good, though not exceptional per se. I've had better in a few other pho places in Montreal. Prices and portions were reasonable though, and they definitely don't skimp out on greens. Restaurant is very clean, definitely one of the cleanest I've seen from a pho place. For a Chinatown establishment this place does its basics well. If you're looking for something more adventurous with Vietnamese cuisine, you'll have to look elsewhere.
google avatar

Yvette G.

Yelp
I came here with my sister and we shared an XL pho and spring rolls. The bill was 18$ tax in and we still had half the soup left at the end! The pho was good and spring rolls had both, meat and shrimp. What I enjoyed the most here was how friendly the staff was and of course the prices!

Yelp
This place is always a hit or miss for me. I say this because sometimes the service is excellent and sometimes is meh ... On this particular visit the service was better than the last time I went. Greeted and seated within 2 mins of arriving at the restaurant. Majority of the time you will find yourself seated quite closely to your neighbour (a communal type of seating). I ordered their #5 which is noodle soup with eye of round steak, well done flank and tripe ... which in my opinion is basically the same as their #1 which I usually order (I could not tell the difference). The noodle soup comes with a side of bean sprouts, herbs and lime. The pricing is average, $8 for a small, $9 for a large and $10 for extra large. Note that tax is already included, you just need to tip. Also, they only take cash. If you forget, there is an ATM right beside the cash register at the back. I'd come back again in the near future.

Yelp
One of my first Montreal pho attempts after Pho Nam Do closed was with Pho Bang New York. I had read some good reviews on Zomato (formerly Urbanspoon) as well as on MTLBlog. Plus, it was only a 15 mins bus ride from where I used to live. I went a few times, but never loved their pho. I always thought the broth was missing some key flavors. For my full MTL Pho Hunt review and more photos, check out my blog: Turquoise Blog (link in bio!)

Yelp
Best Vietnamese food I've had so far in Montreal. I tried it my first day here and it was so good I had to come back with my family. We all ordered rice dishes and the portion was big and cooked to perfection! Fast and friendly service. Clean restaurant. I definitely recommend!

Yelp
I gave this place a 1 star! Ordered the oho soup and it tasted like beef soup. No Vietnamese authenticity. Rule 4 people need 3 dishes... WT!!! I would not recommend this place .. other food tasted nothing .. don't waste your time

Yelp
I had dinner here with my mom. My mom loves pho and this place got her seal of approval! This was our last meal in Montreal during our fun getaway, and was a great ending to a wonderful trip. My mom had the Special Pho (size small) $8.50. It had rare beef, cooked beef and tripe. She was a bit disappointed that it didn't have beef meatballs, but she was very happy that they were generous with the meat and the beef was not sliced razor-thin like at some places. She said the broth was flavourful and the pho here is comparable to places in Toronto. I had the grilled beef and spring roll vermicelli ($10.50). It was fantastic. The beef was so flavourful. It had just a hint of sweetness which made it delicious. They were not stingy with the meat; I got a lot. I could eat that beef all day long! The spring rolls were just ok though. They had ground pork, vermicelli and carrots in them. They were crispy, but lacked any wow factor. My dish came with shredded iceberg lettuce on the bottom (I'm not usually a fan of iceberg, but this is the usual lettuce for this dish and the crunchiness of iceberg is needed to contrast the softness of the vermicelli), pickled carrots and pickled daikon. I was a bit disappointed that there weren't any slivered cucumbers. Oh, it came with cilantro sprinkled on top, but I picked them out immediately (even before I took the photo). There were a few green onions and crushed peanuts on top too. This dish was super tasty overall, and I would order it again (except I might skip the spring rolls and get a second meat, like grilled chicken). The server was really polite and efficient. We got our food super fast. Now the tables are all pushed together in rows. We ate around 4pm on a weekday so it wasn't packed, so we didn't have anyone else next to us, but when it get busy, you might have to sit next to strangers. Washrooms are downstairs and were really clean. I would come back, but probably only at non-peak hours again, because I wouldn't want to sit with strangers, lol.

Yelp
This is my second go-to pho joint in Montreal. The quality and taste of the pho is always consistent, flavourful and delicious. The soup is never too salty and always clear with little droplets of oil that make the soup an explosion of flavours. The pho is definitely the best choice on the menu here. The spring rolls here, however, taste a bit bland and dry. It doesn't have a kick like other spring rolls that I have tried. They're also not so generous on their Vietnamese coffee, as we only received a half full cup. The service here is always courteous, fast and efficient, just how I like it when I'm in a hurry. Note that this place is cash only.

Yelp
A good place to have Pho, BUT not the best. Trust me ! I'm a Vietnamese ,so, my standards for Pho are extremely high. Let's begin with experience. The restaurant is clean. I mean not just for a " Asian restaurant Level clean", the kitchen is shiny and also the toilet. BUT my table is sticky like a scotch tapes. Decent customer service. But also a Plus for the aroma of Pho when you just get in the restaurant. The food itself is 7/10. It is lack of favour. Not "beefy" enough. Although it will be good for Chicken Pho. I also order a Spring roll (not that special). But it was really cheap. $8 for a small and $10 for a extra large. I order a small bowl and it filled me up. It was a pleasant experience, decent food cheap price. It definitely a return.

Yelp
I know... why I am I have Pho when I am in Montreal? And I even there twice during my short stay?!! Yes, Pho Bang New York is definitely worth a repeat visit. I suggest just order the Pho... the broth is one of the best I have... or the best I remembered... Great aroma, well seasoned with herbs, rich with beef flavour..... This restaurant is definitely packed! We ended up sharing a table with others and even have to step over people to get out! The washroom is so clean... dare I say smell good?! One of the cleanest washrooms in a Vietnamese Pho joint! Good washroom, excellent food... that really deserves a repeat visit!!

Yelp
Alright alright... this is one of those places with horrible service but awsome food that I love to go but not sure how to rate it. Pro: Personaly, I think it's the best pho in Montreal. Con: Service eg: We were three, the place was half filled it was around 4pm, and the waiter gave us 1 menu. One menu for three people...like why bruh. However, they is one dude who's really nice, if he's not there, expect the other guy who doesn't even try to speak to you, do prepare to use sign language with him. In the end, I'm giving it 3/5, because althought the food is top notch, you can't receive a full mark for inconsistent services.

Yelp
This is probably the worst restaurant I've been to in Montreal. Service here is not that great. The waiters are pretty rude. The place is pretty unsanitary. The utensils are really dirty. You can see that there's dried vegetables stuck to some chopsticks and sauce or something stuck to the spoon. The tables are dirty and there's left over bits from the previous customer. But besides that those are not the only things to worry about. I got my bowl of pho last out of all the people at my table and in my bowl of pho there was a small dead bug floating around........ I told the waiter about it, he didn't argue about it or anything and just agreed to give me a new bowl. He dumped a bowl of vegetables into my pho to show me that they aren't just going to pick the bug back out and return the pho back to me. Which I think it was a really nice gesture. But I just can't give it anything above a 1 star due to hygiene issues. Cups were chipped, chopsticks and spoons are nasty and tables were sticky. As for the pho, it was meh. It seemed really watered down and didn't have much flavour.

Yelp
Here's a New York perspective (coming from someone who has easy access to Viet food in NYC) of this place. In Montreal's Chinatown where you easily have 5+ Viet restaurants along 1 street, this place surely stands out based on the crowds it attracts (plus above average Yelp reviews). Because there's multiple Pho Bang in NY itself, I'm not sure if this is linked at all. PHO BO VIEN (beef balls) - Excellent clear broth, but the flavor profile isn't as strong, but it can be fixed with sriracha and hoisin sauce. Very mild complaint. I'm not as thirsty afterwards so I'm assuming no MSG was added. SPRING ROLLS - Not as good to what I'm used to. Smaller/ more skinny, wrapped and fried with an egg roll type wrapper instead of a rice paper. Rare occurrence, but Kudos to them offering a vegetarian version for non-meat eaters though. Rice Vermicelli with Grilled Pork (thit nuong) - Wifey ordered it and it was probably the most balanced dish I've had in a while in terms of tender and flavor of the meat. I cant judge this place against the other neighboring restaurants, but this seems to be a solid Montreal standard. Turnover was quick on a crowded Friday evening. Cleanliness is hard to find in traditional Viet restaurants, but this place is relatively clean. CASH ONLY.

Yelp
We were looking for a place to eat one night and were just going to randomly choose a place, and then we walked by here and saw that it was jam-packed, line waiting to be seated and so we all looked at one another and walked in thinking: "Wow, the Pho must be amazing!!" and... it was ok, definitely not the worst Pho I've had but it wasn't the best either. I guess I just don' t get it because the Pho back home is so much more rich and flavorful, this just tasted like slightly flavored water to me. The service was ok, and the seating is tight so be prepared to sit next to someone who you don't know. I'm sorry to say that I wouldn't be a in a hurry to return here.

Yelp
I am staying in Montreal close to Chinatown, and it's freezing, so I wanted Vietnamese pho! I went with a veggie based soup but added beef. I also wanted some imperial rolls, but since I'm alone, I was afraid to get a whole order. They were very accommodating and let me add two as a side to my soup. They were delicious! The soup itself had tasty beef and the most veggies I've ever had in pho. The broth wasn't the best ever, but it was good. Service was fast and efficient and friendly. I'd go back!

Yelp
Should have read the Yelp reviews before going here. Visiting Montreal with my family and in-laws (Vietnamese). Came here on recommendation of a Vietnamese lady we met near Old Port. The waiter was incredibly rude, talking over my husband multiple times while he was trying to inquire about whether a dish was cooked with fish sauce because my son is allergic to fish & shellfish. The waiter was also very disrespectful to my in-laws - we got up and left, which I think I've only done once before.

Yelp
Given the other reviews, I decided to try the place. It was packed and we got a seat. We ordered the special pho, and grilled meat plate. I wanted to order the shrimp rolls but the waiters said it was sold out. The pho soup was fine but the ingredients were skimpy. The special pho should have included tendons, tripe, etc. There was raw meat and brisket. That was it so it was not authentic especially since it's included on the menu and reflected in the place. Also, the waiter said the shrimp rolls were sold out. Then people who were seated 5 mins later ordered it and it came. I will not go back since Montreal have many other better places. I don't know who this was rated so high in Google reviews.

Yelp
My all time favourite Vietnamese spot. Everything that I've tried here is delicious. Love their spring rolls, grilled pork , and the pho is very flavourful. They are not stingy with the meat , unlike most places. The prices are very reasonable in my opinion. My partner once picked up pho for me because I was too sick to step out of the house and the broth kept its flavour. I even had some leftover broth that I stored in the fridge overnight and the flavour was just as good as the day before! I noticed a few people have commented about the lack of service. Service is always on point whenever I visit, I usually come on Sundays and they tend to get extremely busy but I've never encountered any problems. I also don't care much about the service though, as long as the food is good I'm happy. Tips: -It's a bit difficult to find parking around this area, I suggest taking the subway if you live in the island. The restaurant is only a couple of blocks away from the subway station. -They ONLY accept cash. They have an atm machine , service charge is $3.
