Five Vietnamese Dishes to Know and Where to Eat Them in Boston | Eater Boston

"When I order bo kho at Pho Basil I can choose between rice noodles or white rice — a useful option since bo kho could be considered either a soup or a stew — and I’d pair it with cha gio or goi cuon as appetizers; Pho Basil is currently offering takeout, delivery, and indoor dining." - Karen Wilber

Google
This is a really popular spot, and be prepared to wait if you have more than 2 people. Once you arrive, you scan the QR code to be on the wait list (if you didn’t join the waitlist before you got there). For 3 people, we waited over an hour at peak dinner time because there’s less tables for 3-4 and people take their time. Foodwise- for my first time, I didn’t feel like pho so it was a happy surprise they had a huge menu of Thai dishes as well. (Though I did try a bite of my friends pho and it was good! Really nice broth). I ordered the chicken pad see yew which had a great amount of broccoli and chinese broccoli that were perfectly cooked and I enjoyed the flat noodles too. Next time I want to try the khao soi or green curry or kra pow

Google
Great place! It’s a small spot, and you need to scan a QR code to reserve your table. We waited about 30 minutes, but it was totally worth it. The service was fast and friendly, and the portions were big and delicious. I ordered the fried pineapple rice. My husband ordered pho soup. highly recommended!

Google
Really enjoyed our fine in experience. My husband is in a wheelchair and they helped with opening the doors as well as good seating so he would comfortable. Overall the food was great we got several different items on the menu to try out and each one was better than the next all in all with tip our bill came out to $89 and we took home some left overs as well

Google
It's a tight, cozy spot. The food there looked really good. We picked up our food. The staff was very friendly. We got their drunken noodles with chicken and beef. I was pleasantly surprised by the portion size! Flavors were on point as well. Will come back.

Google
It is located opposite to Berklee College of Music. You have to wait to be seated however the online queue is very efficient and much shorter waiting time than expected. The waiting time for food is also short and food is very authentic. I ordered fried Kyoza for starter and Po Vien (Vietnamese beef ball noodle soup) and Vietnamese ice coffee. The kyoza is just perfectly fried and juicy, the beef noodle soup is so authentic that I can not imagine it was in ten thousands miles away from Asia!

Google
This restaurant is an authentic dining both Thai and Vietnamese food. Today I have Spicy Rangoon, Tom yum Fried Rice, Yuzu Soda, and Jasmine Lychee. The food is clean and delicious. Moreover, the service here is really great! I definitely come back and try another dish!

Google
The food was excellent. The service was fast and efficient. The portions were pretty big. The place is clean, beautiful and cozy. Highly recommend.

Google
Good quantity. Exceptional taste. It took me 5min on the waitlist to be seated at 9pm on a Saturday. The seating was small and intimate as is typical fare with most Asian restaurants. I ordered Cha Gio ($8) and Bun Bo Hue ($18). The food arrived in 10min from the time I ordered. The portion of the cha gio could be a bit bigger but for an appetizer it was fine. The Bun Bo Hue was a decent sized dish with a good amount of beef, although the spice was on the milder side compared to other places I have had in the past. For variety, their menu offered dishes such as curry and unique soft drinks. Overall a good experience and a good alternative to the competing restaurants in the Dorchester area.

Yelp
Pho Basil is the best! Always great always consistent! We ordered delivery and food came pretty quick and everything was hot and fresh! We ordered a few pho noodle soups - 2 Pho Ga with chicken and 1 pho chay with vegetables. And a noodle dish with chicken. Also a fried rice dish with chicken. Plus an appetizer roti curry dip which was great! And also the chicken pork veggie dumplings- really good! The pho is so filling and satisfying! Plus leftovers are always great for lunch next day! Yummy!

Yelp
first time here. place is a bit small and space is too tight between one table and the others. it was packed when i went there at that time. table itself too small. two people with lots of orders can make the table full and not comfort while dine in. for foods... 1. dac biet: love the broth. it is rich and flavorful. expect to get more broth, mostly during cold weather. oh by the way, their dry chilies with fried garlic sauce is so so good!!! should put lots of this inside the pho and even yummy!!! recommended pho... 2. chicken wings: it is just mediocre. just a recommendation if you can marinate longer, i think will taste even better... 3. spicy crab rangoon: just so so... overall, i will say a recommendation place for pho and prices are just average. will come back again if i visit massachusetts again...

Yelp
Has this ever happened to you , where you find a place that's so good, you go back again the same day? That's exactly what happened to my husband and me while visiting from out of town. I was craving Vietnamese food, and this spot did not disappoint. The pho was flavorful and delicious, and my husband had the combination fried rice, which he absolutely loved. We enjoyed it so much at lunch that we came back for dinner the same day -- and it was just as excellent. Highly recommended if you're looking for authentic, tasty Vietnamese food!

Yelp
A refreshing meal on a gloomy fall day. The Roti'N Curry Dip was a great starter, but surprisingly not spicy at all. The Pho Dac Biet was very enjoyable: a nice balance of tender beef and hot noodles, appropriately savory broth, and a variety of garnish. There was a large line outside when I came ~12, but was able to be seated within 10 mins after joining the waitlist. Service was very prompt (not rude though). +1 for the quick turnaround time (for the table and for food)! Def recommend!

Yelp
I've been to Pho Basil several times, with the experience ranging from great to mediocre. My favorite time to come is for the lunch special, when the restaurant is relatively quiet and dishes are even better value. In the evenings (even on weeknights), the restaurant fills up quickly. There are no reservations here, and the wait often trails out the door as diners circulate. Service is quick, especially in bringing out food, and the restaurant is quite casual. Drunken noodles here are decently spicy and a favorite. On the other hand, I found the kao soi to be average. While also spicy, I didn't enjoy the pickled vegetables much.
google avatar

Yelp
Great drunken noodles. So many veggies. I just wish the interior of the place was more welcoming, the green colors are uninviting, like hospital cafeteria eating..

Yelp
I used to go to Pho Basil a few years ago when I first started at Northeastern. I haven't been in a while and decided to try it since I wanted pho and most places in Boston close around 9. This place is mainly popular because of its location near Berklee and Northeastern but it's really not that great. The pho broth was way too sweet and it's a bit on the expensive side. The chicken wings were pretty good though. It's relatively quick to get sat and get your food but I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to come back again.

Yelp
Major food safety issue!!! I ordered delivery and found a shrimp tail in my vegetable pad Thai. Not a piece of shrimp, a shrimp TAIL. As in something that should have been thrown in the garbage. Extremely dangerous and beyond disgusting. Uber Eats refunded me, but I still had to pay all the fees, so I ended up spending $20 to get an appetizer delivered because this place apparently doesn't take food safety seriously. Gross!!
google avatar

Yelp
Came with a friend for a 6pm dinner on a weekday and there was only a 5-minute wait. Staff was decently attentive; we were in the corner by the window so didn't get passed very often and had to flag the waitress down a few times. Restaurant itself seemed pretty clean with good lighting. My friend ordered the pho dac biet and I got the pho bo vien. I found it interesting that they don't halve the meatballs like most other places. Bowl had a good amount of noodles and the broth was not bad but not the best I've had. The Thai iced tea I ordered as a drink was pretty solid. They did seem a little antsy to get us out and give us the check despite the restaurant being only half-full when we finished eating. I would be okay coming back but don't think I'd seek it out.
google avatar

Yelp
Remove the viet items and rename the place. Pho tastes like water and like the rest of Boston, gives you too many noodles. Decent thai food in big portions Small dumplings
google avatar

Kylie B.

Yelp
Pho basil is a casual (but cute) Vietnamese thai fusion place that has all the staple dishes! Service is super friendly (the owner stopping by at all tables to check-in) and dishes are served fast!! I tried bun bo hue for the first time here and I enjoyed it! The portion was good, meat and noodle quantity were good, and the broth was tangy and enjoyable. I would say for Vietnamese places I was a bit surprised by the price (a bit more expensive than im used to).

Yelp
Well helloooo Pho What a wonderful local gem of a place to discover on a whim while having a craving for Pho. A warm & bright local eatery with a comfortable atmosphere and a menu with a mix of Thai & Vietnamese dishes. Needless to say, but I'm going to say it anyways... our need & craving for delicious Pho was wholeheartedly fulfilled & completely satisfied.
google avatar

Martin K.

Yelp
We had plenty of Vietnamese food back home, and since we hear the staff and back kitchen speak Thai, we thought going with their own Thai cuisine would be the better choice instead of pho. The lunch special was so filling that we came back for a second time! The classic pad thai dish was flavorful and the pad kee mao had a pleasant roasty taste. With a cozy simple environment, this place is definitely good for small groups and quick meals.

Yelp
This place serves pho that tastes incredibly fresh and clean . The broth had a clear, naturally sweet flavor. The beef was soft and cooked perfectly in the hot soup. The noodles paired beautifully with the broth. I loved the peaceful atmosphere inside. The staff were kind and attentive. A truly comforting bowl of pho.!
google avatar

Yelp
Pho Basil is overall alright. I think they just had an off day. The gyoza was soggy and the texture was very soft and a bit cold. The pho was pretty decent. It is very light and savory but it was a bit too sweet for me. There was not much noodles and meat in the pho. The people here were efficient and nice. The restaurant is always lively with students eating here. I had great experiences before as I occasionally eat here. I believe they just had a bad day.
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Good Thai standards and friendly service thought it clean get crowded and busy. The pho is very good here

Yelp
amazing food. amazing service. I would go back again and again. If you are in the area, run don't walk to this gem.

Yelp
Checked this place out and was very impressed! This place has been on my list for a bit, so it was nice to finally get to experience. We got there and the restaurant was full with a small line of people. We joined the waiting list and only had to wait 15 to 20 minutes before we were able to get a table. The ambience inside is nice. It's definitely packed with a lot of people when all the tables are full, but you're still spread out enough where you don't feel too cramped. Our service was also great the whole night and all of the servers were kind and welcoming when they came up to the table and even while we were waiting for our table to be prepped. The menu is very extensive with lots of options! I appreciated all of the indicators on the menu to show different dietary cues for spiciness or whether it was vegan or vegetarian. There is also a vegan section in the menu that covers all the items that are vegan as is. Definitely a good amount of options and something for everyone. I tried the veggie tofu curry. It was really good and indicated as spicy. I found that it wasn't too spicy. It was enough that you could taste the spice, but it wasn't overwhelming. I appreciated that the curry came with rice instead of being an add-on cost as it is with some places. I thought it was pretty good portions for the cost. If you're wanting to try multiple dishes, the portions are definitely good enough for sharing. I also got a Thai iced tea with espresso and was so excited to learn that they had an oat milk option so that it was vegan. It's been a long time since I've been able to have a Thai iced tea and I thought it was really good! I would definitely go back and get it again.

Yelp
I always want pho on a rainy day, so I decided to try Pho Basil since it seemed pretty popular! We waited about 15-20 min which wasn't too bad, but just be aware that there will probably be a wait. I got the pho tai and a jasmine limeade. The pho tai was decent/good with broth that was relatively flavorful and meat that wasn't too tough, though it wasn't the best I've had in boston. The jasmine limeade seemed pretty fresh, though it was quite sour. Not sure if I would go again but it's good enough if you're craving pho!
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
Very popular. I came on a Friday night and not only was it packed but it was a 40 minute wait. Normally I would not wait but in this case it worked because I was attending an outdoor concert across the street. It is a self-check-in QR system. You can keep track of your place in line via your device. I had the dac biet pho and sesame wings. It was the first evening with a chill in the air and the soup hit the spot. Not sure it's the traditional preparation because I usually have it with a clear broth, but it was a flavor bomb. I also like how the rare beef is presented mostly rare, which allows you to cook it your prepared level of preference. The chicken wings had a nice coating of sauce. It is not battered and cold use an extra minute for crispiness but cravable. I like the accompanying greens and pickles. On the other hand, the pho could have used more. It only had basil and bean sprouts. I am amazed at the friendly and attentive staff. Like I said they were non-stop busy. I also like the diversity the staff. All Asian but different parts of Asia. I also appreciate how they stick to your place in line no matter how large or small your party.

Yelp
I went here twice while in Boston so that should tell you everything you need to know. This was a very cute and small Pho shop but oh so delicious. The first night we landed, we were craving pho and this place was a short walk from the hotel. The line was out of the door when we arrived but we only waited about 20 mins for a table so not too bad. I ordered the butterfly pea sparkling limenade. I liked the colors and so I decided to order it. It was good, fizzy and very lime forward. I enjoyed it. We ordered egg rolls to share. They were crispy and the filling was delicious. Ground chicken instead of pork and the homemade fish sauce dipping sauce was the perfect sweet and sour touch. I originally went in for Pho but ended up ordering the tom yum fried rice with crispy duck after I seen it at another table. That tom yum fried rice was definitely a major yum. It was slightly sweet but savory, the crispy duck was crispy and tender and they gave plenty of duck meat on top. The basil added the perfect touch to the rice as well. The rice was a 10/10. On our second trip we were going to try another pho place a couple doors down from here but they said their chef hadn't showed up yet and we had a flight to catch so we decided to go back to Pho Basil since it didn't disappoint the first time. We got the pan fried gyoza to share. I love gyoza so it literally never disappoints me. I did order pho this time as well. I went with the Pho Sate. It came with beef balls, flank steak, and rare steak. Had cherry tomatoes and all the normal pho toppings as well. It had a nice amount of spice. It had the spicy chili oil added. This Pho was Pho-nomenal. I recommend this cute shop to anyone looking for some good eats in Boston.

Yelp
Couple of things I enjoy about this place. - They are fast! I sit down and they already provide me with a menu and glass of water. The food also comes within 10 mins after ordering (sometimes even sooner during less busy times!) - Food is delicious. My favorites are the pad see you and the drunk noodles (any noodle dish to be honest) - Real solid prices especially their lunch specials. Great portions for the price point - Friendly staff! They are all pretty nice and attentive to customers
google avatar

Rosanna N.

Yelp
As solid as the viet food gets here in Boston. Def a busy place popular among students kinda packed inside. fast solid and reliable food
google avatar

Lizzie Y.

Yelp
Pho Basil on Mass Ave was one of my more frequented restaurants before, mostly due to convenience as I always wanted to avoid rush hour so I'd grab dinner & take my time eating. Not a bad spot if you want Vietnamese/Thai food. I prefer it over the Viet/Thai food spots in Chinatown. The Khao Soi from here is pretty tasty. One of my go-to's. Honestly, I haven't tried any of their Vietnamese food but I enjoy their Thai menu items! Prices are reasonable & overall, a great place to go for casual lunch/dinner. Parking: Can be a bit tricky to find parking in area. Meter parking, if you're lucky.

Thomas F.

Yelp
Pho Basil is extraordinarily amazing, the food and service is first class. The place's ambiance is everything you would imagine. Once you get seated, I hope your palette enjoys the wonderful food that's prepared.
google avatar

Anaëlle T.

Yelp
Had the classic pho tai for lunch and it was very tasty! The broth was delicious and not greasy which I love. The soups don't come with a lot of toppings (sprouts, basil) but I didn't mind not wasting. The staff was so so friendly and efficient. Overall the place was very busy but I didn't wait more than 5 minutes for a table. The restaurant was full or students but wasn't loud and was very clean.
google avatar

Yvonne N.

Yelp
Pho Basil is located across campus so it tends to get busy quick. We came here as a group of five on a Saturday at opening. We were seated immediately but the place quickly filled up. We ordered different variations of pho and everyone loved their orders. The rice noodles were thin and chewy and absorbed the tasty broth. My mala pho was not as spicy as expected but delicious nonetheless.
google avatar

Alexandria D.

Yelp
Great spot on the edge of Back Bay. We went for lunch midday on Sunday and were sat immediately. I ordered the Thai Iced Tea which was delicious - I would definitely recommend if you are looking for something sweet. We got the sesame wings for an app which were perfectly crispy and flavorful. The mains we got were came in huge portions. The Dac Biet pho was good, I just wish it had slightly more flavor. The Tom Yum Beef Fried Rice was also good but not outstanding. Overall I would recommend Pho Basil for a warm hearty meal.
google avatar

Victoria C.

Yelp
A great Pho place on Mass Ave that was bustling on a Sunday evening. I ordered online about 15 minutes before and my order was just about ready when I was there for pickup. The packaging is great as they separate the broth from the noodles and meat. They also have a little baggy of bean sprouts, like, and a packet of hoisan sauce. I took everything out into a bowl to reheat and it tasted just like you would get in the restaurant. The broth is sweet and the meat is tender. This is a perfect place to warm up on a cold winter day.
google avatar

Bailey B.

Yelp
Went another time after being disappointed the first and was much more impressed. Noodles were delicious and plentiful, broth was yummy. The tripe was good. Meat was a little too fatty for me, but otherwise good. Service was better this time! It is quite crowded in there but with how big the line stayed, you can't blame them for shoving you in like sardines. Heads up if you are celiac/gluten free. This place has a whole gluten free menu (great!) but they'll ask if contamination is ok before serving you (not great). My friend is celiac and didn't seem to be glutened after, but just a heads up.
google avatar

Monica L.

Yelp
This place was really packed on a weeknight so we decided to try it. The space was lively and clean. The service was super friendly and attentive, checking in frequently to refill water and also fast with the check! I got the wonton soup and was a bit disappointed. It felt like a lot of noodles with 4 small wontons for $20. I probably ordered wrong considering how popular the place is though!
google avatar

Andrea S.

Yelp
I liked the duck noodle soup. We put our names on the Yelp waitlist beforehand. All of the seats were taken in the restaurant showing that it's a popular place. They have both Vietnamese and Thai food. I also had lychee juice and it came with four lychees which i liked.

André A.

Yelp
Our go-to spot for pho, delicious and affordable! Atmosphere is decent, gets really busy especially during the night on weekends, so waited for about 5-10 minutes before we were seated. After we ordered, our dishes arrived in no time! The broth was rich and the portions were good. Service was good.
google avatar

Megan Y.

Yelp
Ordered takeout thru grubhub, just one order of Saigon noodles so thought it should be pretty quick to whip up, but had to wait 30 minutes longer than the expected pickup time which was very frustrating. Tons of other people were also clearly upset about their orders taking so long. The food itself was just fine, nothing to write home about and definitely not worth waiting so long for.
google avatar

jade galilea b.

Yelp
The food was delicious. The service was amazing. The delivery is usually fast and very nice people. The place is a little bit small so it does tend to get crowded in busy times so I would recommend getting there before dinner time for a secure seating on time.
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
After a full day of walking through the city, the best way I could end my day was by eating a comforting bowl of pho. Pho Basil has little space for seating, therefore the wait time did last for roughly 30 minutes during dinner time. And this was a wait time for a table for 1. Regardless, the food was worth it. The waitress was very nice as well as the rest of the staff. It did feel a bit weird at first because I noticed the staff and manager or owner staring at me. Then I realized I was the only black person in there, LOL. TO BE CLEAR!! There wasn't any negative sense to the stares, but more of "Is she going to like the food?" Of which, I loved it! The pho was so warm and tasty! The meat was tender and the mint, cilantro, bean sprouts toppings tasted fresh. The crab rangoons were so crispy and delicious, especially with the sauce. And the chai tea was nice and sweet. I looked back at the manager/owner in between eating and noticed he was smiling and asked was the food good? I gave a thumbs up as I had a mouth full of pho, Lol! Overall I say the experience was very relaxing and helped me ease down from being on the move all day. Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Really good. We went twice in one week. First time we had the drunken noodles (?) with chicken and fried rice with fried chicken. That was pretty good. The second time I had beef pho combo and the sticky wings. The pho was solid. Soup was nice and the mix of beef, tendon, tripe, etc. was really good. The wings were similarly really good. Nice flavor and nicely fried. I like this place.
google avatar

Kevin Z.

Yelp
This place is pretty solid. Definitely recommend getting the pad thai, drunken noodle, and curry dishes. It is relatively cheap too I guess.

Island Lisa B.

Yelp
With the scent of warming dishes filling the air of this cozy cafe, we immediately joined the online wait notification system. It was a 70 minute wait for dinner on a recent Friday but well worth it. The pho and other dishes, including my curry, were wonderful. Bustling interior on a busy street. Streetside parking may be a challenge so dress warmly and plan to walk if necessary.
google avatar

Maya K.

Yelp
This pho was amazing. Got egg noodle instead of vermicelli. Put a bunch of hoisin and hot sauce SO GOOD. Sesame wings were yum with good flavor. Thai tea was perfect, not too sweet. Service was really good the employees are kind and food comes out rlly quick. Restaurant is clean and gets a lot more full around dinner time. I took off a star just because the side of bean sprouts and basil they gave us was very small. The bean sprouts were a bit soggy too.

Joyce N.

Yelp
Food was amazing. So worth the wait! I love that they have a recommended page on their menu so that we don't have to ask. We got nearly everything on that page and it was spot on. The rangoon were probably the best that I've ever had. It's filled with protein. The tom yum fried rice was my favorite. The plates/ portion were huge. Definitely could feed 2 per. Service was the best. Everyone was so friendly, attentive and quick! They even pack your food to go for you. The restaurant was surprisingly really clean as well.
google avatar

Ngan N.

Yelp
We came around 11:50 AM (20 minutes after they open) and the restaurant was already almost full. Apparently it's quite popular and there's usually a line. You can get in line ONLINE too. That can save you some time waiting in the cold. Service is excellent. Clean, well organized and everything was pretty quick. We ordered: - Drunken noodles with fried chicken: it's pretty good 5/5. Has great flavor, noodles were cooked perfectly. Generous portion and a good amount of veggies. Definitely worth it to add scripy fried chicken. - Bun bo Hue: 3/5 it's not bad but it's not quite the standard Bun bo Hue, and not so flavorful. Some of the meat was tender but most wasn't. I had to chew quite a bit. I wouldn't order this again.

Yelp
One of the best food I've had in boston! It's difficult to find authentic pho or even the Thai dishes they had on the menu and this place delivered! Their fried rice, eggplant tofu and phos are to die for and even though it could get a little spicy I did not want to stop eating!
google avatar

Tony T.

Yelp
This was my favorite Pho place back when I was living in Boston about a decade ago. I recently went back for dinner on a Friday and I forgot how packed it can get given that it's a pretty small place inside. I usually always order the Pho Tai, but I don't remember (or perhaps) forgot that they also have Thai food. This time I got the Koi Sao with Crispy Chicken which was really good!
google avatar

Samantha G.

Yelp
Food was super flavorful and authentic tasting and pricing (lunch special) was great for the portion. Only criticism would be the wait staff, not the friendliest, but I understand that most customers go there for a quick solo bite instead of an attentive sit down meal.
google avatar

Gaby H.

Yelp
After our drive into the city all we were craving was a bowl of pho. We found this gem close to our Airbnb and immediately headed straight there. My boyfriend ordered the Pho Sate and I ordered the Bun Bo Hue. They were both fantastic and just what we needed after a long drive. Service was quick and attentive. The establishment is not very large so I would recommend coming for a late lunch or early dinner as I am sure they get packed!
google avatar

Claire L.

Yelp
Highly recommend this pho dish, nice noodle soup and then they have nice service. Near by University of Boston, we must try this during our staying.

Yelp
After leaving BSO with a friend, we decided to get a bite to eat, and decided upon Pho Basil. It was a little bit of a pain because you had to be added to the waiting list via a scan on your phone. I would much rather be able to walk inside and put my name on a list rather than having to stand outside in the cold and try to scan askew so I can get on a waiting list. Anyways, my friend was very interested in eating here so we put ourselves on the list. Once inside, it was extremely tight we were against the wall at a two seater with about 10 inches between the tables where people had a squished through, including the servers. I understand about optimizing your space but maybe they should think about a different seating arrangement as it was extremely uncomfortable as I'm a 275 pound guy my left arm was pressed against the wall the entire meal. And I kept getting touched by the service as they were bringing over food to our table and two other tables. The food came out all at once rather than the appetizers, and then the mains, which is not really a bad thing as I like a full table but unfortunately, all of these plates and bowls did not fit on the table and it was just so crowded that it impeded my happiness of eating anything. Now that I vented about my seating experience, I would like to say that the staff was very friendly and helpful, as well as knowledgeable and very polite . So now onto the orders for appetizers, we ordered the fried Gyoza I believe there were eight Gyoza on the plate with a small piece of iceberg lettuce, and some pickled radish carrot on top. The Gyoza was cooked correctly with a small amount of stuffing not really anything special. I would rate it as 2 stars, dish was priced at $8.50. We also ordered the wings. I forget how many were, maybe six or eight. They were supposed to be cooked with a special Thai herb. However, I did not taste any type of spicing. However, they were delicious, fried perfectly, and extremely tasty. They also came with the same little piece of iceberg lettuce and pickled radish carrots on the side with a little bit of dipping sauce. Wings are at 5 stars. Price $8.95, possibly the best value on the menu. For a couple of the mains we ordered Pad See You, which is basically a stirfried noodle with some broccoli, carrot, Chinese broccoli, egg and some beef. This dish was the best thing on the table. I would give this a 4 star rating as there was very little beef. Price $16.96. And lastly, we ordered the Dac Biet, which is Pho. The bowl was the size of the medium at most pho restaurants , however,Ph Basil only had one size. The Dac Biet comes with rare steak, well-done flank, tendon and tripe. We ordered ours without the tripe. I did ask the waitress if there was a good amount of meat or if I could possibly order extra meat, she said there was a lot of meat. I'd say it was on the lite side and would've liked and appreciated if I could have ordered extra meat. I would've had no problem paying extra for it as I do it most places. Unfortunately it was not even an option. All in all the Pho was pretty average as you'd find well outside the city. The broth was a tad on the salty side. I would put it in the middle maybe a 2 1/2 stars for the Pho. No, as everyone knows on mass Avenue basically there's no parking if you're lucky enough to get a meter the parking guards I'll looking down on you. I did not happen to view the restrooms, so I cannot state the cleanliness as I cannot for the kitchen. If you are downtown, it's a very pleasant place to go as long as it's not cold outside as they make you wait outside not in the restaurant.

You know it's good when there's almost always a line out the door! I've tried takeout from Pho Basil a few times, but this was my first dine-in experience. Since we were a small group and visited for an early dinner, we were seated immediately. We ordered some crab rangoons to start, which were tasty but nothing too special. The real star of the show was the saigon noodle dish, which I ordered with crispy chicken. The noodles, sauce, and veggies all paired together perfectly, and everything was elevated so much further with some delicious crispy chicken on top. By the end of the meal, we left feeling completely stuffed. Overall, everything I've tried here has been great, but the noodle dishes are the real highlight.
