I door dashed so it was a bit pricey because of fees, but the food was awesome. The beef banh mi was sooo good. It looked exactly like the pictures. I’m craving one just thinking about it. I got a big pho too and it did not disappoint. I love that they give you the option to make the noodles at home because I hate soggy noodles. I also asked for some sauce on the side and they added it in. It made me real happy because most places forget. The only thing I will say is, I got the grilled beef rice plate and I was expecting a bigger portion for $16 (Door Dash price). The meat was fantastic though. My husband really liked it. The rice was cooked well too.

Decent food. Fried egg rolls were the best! Food was served one plate at a time. There's a bad smell right as you walk in. I'm assuming it was coming from the bathroom. It's only at the entrance though. Servers were decent. But the entertainment for our kids was the robot waiter! Was pretty cool watching it carry the food. Not sure how they chose who gets served with the robot, it didn't come to our table but was still fun to watch. It was a good experience just kinda warm inside, no AC was on and it was a hot day. But the food was just decent. Not a lot of meat in the Pho. There is a small parking lot on both sides of the restaurant.

Didn’t get to try the food. Dirty dishes sitting on empty tables. It was quite busy with one waiter. I don’t blame him but he needs to learn how to prioritize things. I noticed he was doing things that had no importance rather than assisting customers. The way the seating is set up is ridiculous, I don’t wanna eat sitting literally right next to a complete stranger. We left without trying anything or even getting a chance to sit down.

Good portions, had the big Pho and enjoyed it all the way, the spring rolls were the biggest I had so far, they do have draft beer, and was Ice cold man, that was so nice, had an 805, next time I'll have a Sapporo. Afterwards I had a green Jasmine hot tea. They were súper friendly and there's even a server robot that brings you the food!

Google
Here is 5 Stars for service and food. Meet a friend here from Georgia and he loved it! Good flavored broth pho. Had the filet mignon pho #1 and the meat was very good. The Boba Thai tea was also good. Great place for families as they offer good priced kids meals that include drinks. Other dishes we had was the fried rice was excellent!

Food used to be a lot better and cheaper before these new owners took over. Now its very bad good and not worth the price got a large to go bowl, got home, this is not a large this is a small bowl. I think they rob you if you order to go. I have never been so disappointed in spending my money on this trash.

For the past three months I have anxiously been waiting to see what happens with this location. I was sad to see Cali Baguette and Pho shut it's doors, and wary of the new owners and changes they would bring. So when I went to eat on Saturday afternoon I have to admit I was being extra critical. My first impression was frustration as I tried to enter through the old entrance which is now the closed back door. Lol. There was signage so I only have myself to blame. When I did make it in I was very pleased by the changes made in the remodle. The new layout is spacious with more natural light. There's a bar with full service. I checked out the men's room and the changes in there are impressive. I love the menu. So many options. I wanted to try everything. I ended up ordering the Surf & Turf Rolls, House Special phổ, a build your own Broken Rice Plate with Grilled Beef, Pork, and Shrimp Paste Wrapped in a Crispy Bean Curd Paper. There were so many dessert options that looked delicious but I couldn't fit anything else in my stomach. The Surf and Turf Rolls were very good with an appropriate amount of protein. They came with a citrus fish sauce, however a peanut sauce is available upon request. The phổ was very good. The broth is so important to a good phổ. I am happy to say the broth was very tasty. With a good balance between the seasonings and the bone element. My rice noodles were a little over done, and the portion of protein could have been more, especially since this is the đặc biệt phổ, or special pho. However I understand this places grand opening was the previous Monday, so things are still being worked out. The Broken Rice plate I ordered was spot on with generous portions of protein, perfectly cooked rice, and beautiful presentation. I look forward to returning and trying everything on the menu.

Yelp
Came here when they opened. We were a party of 8 and they sat us down pretty quickly. I like that they had a ton of options to choose from. I created my own pho. I'm a fan of tripe so I got a small bowl. Great price for the amount of food. The inside was spacious and clean. The staff was nice and took our orders quickly and got all our order correct. Thank you Pho Ca Dao & Grill for a fulfilling meal.l and the hospitality. Can't wait to come back to try something different on your menu.

Yelp
I read a lot of great reviews online about this restaurant. I already knew exactly what I wanted to order. This was my first time ordering from this spot. I went ahead and ordered my grilled chicken with rice noodles and with a note that read - do not add nuts or peanuts. I am allergic. I get my order delivered through DoorDash and I take a bite out of the chicken and it's rubbery. It's undercooked. I pull the cup from the left side of the plate up and I can see that there's peanuts on the plate. not too long after that my tongue starts to feel itchy. So this place does not know how to cook chicken. Which is the most basic protein. It is nowhere near 165° when delivered. Which is supposed to be at that temperature to avoid any food poisoning. and also the cooks do not know how to read order notes that can potentially send their customers to the hospital. I don't know what is wrong with you guys. Do you think that someone with an allergy is an option? I know that you're trying to go home early and that's why my chicken was cold also. but missing something like undercooked chicken that can give someone food poisoning and someone with a nut allergy. You are so freaking careless and you should not be working in the kitchen. I called the restaurant to report this as soon as I got my order and do you think anyone answers the phone? NOPE! Forget this place go to national city for your Vietnamese food. What an embarrassment.

Yelp
AMBIANCE - the outside was very dark and not well lit. not very appealing to customers. SERVICE - our server only came to check on us three times (get our order, serve our order, give our check). We asked for extra broth from one of the servers and never got it. We didn't get our water refilled. FOOD - the broth of the pho was not hot anymore when it got to our table. Either it waited too long before they served it or they don't keep the broth boiling. There wasn't a lot of it too. The noodles were too soft and almost over-cooked. There was not a lot of meat. They added this part that's very tough and rubbery which is impossible to chew. CONCLUSION: Not a place I would recommend if you're looking for a quality Vietnamese restaurant. I didn't feel the authenticity of the place, food and service. There's other places way better than this one.

Yelp
I have not left a one star review in a very long time. We came to the area to get some pho at our favorite place but it unfortunately was not open. So we decided to come here as it was nearby. The restaurant is very clean, they do spend a lot of their time doing upkeep during their shift it seems. After ordering it took about 15 minutes just to receive our spring rolls. The spring rolls were ice cold, like they just took them out the fridge & served them... but it took 15 minutes.... The peanut sauce was bland & watery. My husband couldn't even finish his spring roll because of how bland and cold it was. I got the oxtail and filet migon pho. The broth had no flavor even with hoisin sauce and sirarcha. The oxtail had no flavor, pretty sure they cooked it with just water and add it to the pho when someone orders it. It wasn't fall off the bone tender but it wasn't tough either. The noodles were terrible. I don't know if they were overcooked and sat for a long time or if they were just cooked and sat for a long time period. It was really hard to eat the noodles as they were all stuck together. Pulling it apart- you would get short strands of noodles. It was hard trying to separate it all without spilling. A very disappointing experience.

Yelp
Ok I just finished reading about some great Pho places in San Diego. So here's my two cents!! If your in Chula Vista you need to try Thai place . It's the real deal yummy yummy for my tummy. The service here is very AI ?? They have their own robot to deliver your food which is very tasty. The ambience is very chill but thorough. Give it up for the South Bay !!

Yelp
Great place, great service, quick orders and reasonable price. They even have a robot delivering food

Yelp
Food is tasteless. Not enough broth in Pho. No lemon or lime available. Meet completely dry. Pho all noodles and not enough protein. Disappointed completely. Find better place to go

Yelp
Meats are too fatty. Not fun to eat. They were out of boba and black tea. Everything seemed not fresh. Will not return. Other locations are much better.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. Had 4 adults and 2 kids. And still forced me a tip. Such a bad experience. Im a good tipper, but must be earned. Do better; your food is not bad.

Yelp
This rating is only for the food since I ordered via Grubhub. It was packaged nicely and securely. I'm not sure why I always think food down south is going to be good especially when my tastebuds are used to foods from City Heights little Saigon or Convoy district. I ordered the PCD house fried rice, bun bo hue, and egg rolls. The only thing that tasted ok was the egg rolls which says a lot. The bun bo hue was bland and lacked flavor. It came with some dry tough pork slices and 2 small pieces of sliced tendon. It didn't even include pork blood cubes, pork hock, or pork feet! The veggies included were for pho since the only condiment that came with it was hoisin sauce. What am I going to do with that? No sriracha or chili oil. The fried rice tasted better when I poured the soy sauce that came with it. It was only half an order though since the other half of the container was filled with a filler salad. Never had dry salad with fried rice with no dressing at that. Now the funny part is that I have NEVERRR seen any restaurant cut up shrimp in small pieces lmao! I only seen that in home parties or like home cooked foods but never a restaurant so cheap to dice up their shrimp! Give the whole piece! That was so funny to me. Never again lol.

Yelp
Order take out ask the server how long it was gonna take she was ignoring us and went to help someone else it took 45 minutes for three orders I suggest don't go to this location I would give it no stars bad kitchen staff I recommend Pho 7

Yelp
Just ordered off uber eats and got rotten vegetables. Just really nasty luckily I checked before I had put it in my soup

Yelp
Worst customer service if you even want to call it that ! I don't usually leave reviews, BUT had to today. Where do I start ? I called the number from google for 20 min on my drive over there, phone was busy the entire time. When I arrived it took them 10 min before they even acknowledged me, then to make it worst a couple walked in right behind me and they served them first like wow you can't see me . Then they took my order said it would be 15 min took 40 min when I get home they had no napkins no utensils and left out the bag with the condiments how am I supposed to eat Pho without the veggies? Will NEVER go back !

Yelp
Service is ok. The place is clean. I think the one in mira mesa is better flavor than here and more options on the menu.

Yelp
I pre-ordered delivery for 10am on a Sunday via Grubhub. Our order was delivered at 10:10 and it was correct, also delicious! Everything was packaged nicely. We ordered the Sweet Chili Wings, PCD Spring Rolls, Grilled Beef Roll, Grilled Beef Ribeye Vermicelli Salad Bowl, PCD Fried Rice and Grilled Beef and Fried Egg Plate. The chicken wings were nice and meaty, the sweet chili sauce was really good. The fresh rolls are sooo thick! I love it. Their vermicelli salad bowls are one of my favorite things to order when I am not ordering pho. I have eaten in person here, many times. The service has always been wonderful. I love the little robot tray carrier they have that will bring your pho to your table. It is not loud at all, they usually have tvs on, and I have never had to wait to be seated. I enjoy coming here and plan to eat here again soon.

Yelp
It's creamy, so tasty and really good, my first time tasting this delicacy in here, my server it's the best he have the best smile and attention, I like the ambiance so calm and relaxing to enjoy my meal with no pressure

Yelp
I've been eating pho all of my life and tonight's order wasn't it for me. I decided to order through grubhub tonight since I'm pretty busy at home. Man, this pho dac biet order looked like it was short on everything. From the broth to noodles and definitely the meats! I've been to pho ca Dao on El Cajon many many times and I had expected the same servings they offer there. I'll have to stick to pho 7 cow from now on. They stack all of the goods to the top on to go orders there. I've never felt so ripped off after having to pay for service fees for a half ass meal
google avatar

Arlene B.

Yelp
Should it be helpful: They will not take you in the restaurant if you enter 35 minutes or less before closing. 2 people before closing and we already knew what we wanted to order. We would've finished eating within 30 minutes - before they close the restaurant.
google avatar

Carmen L.

Yelp
If you are expecting a warm welcome when you arrive to this restaurant you aren't going to get one. You will be lucky if they even acknowledge your arrival. We have tried on 2 separate occasions to dine there (we even waited a couple of months to see if they could hire more capable staff) and both times, it was a fail. The entire front of house staff are not capable of taking care of customers, and extending a courteous welcome to those who are arriving. At the very least, they should be able to greet the new arrivals and let them know of the wait time. One will not mind waiting if they are made to feel welcome and seen. Staff would rather make eye contact and look away, never making direct contact. This restaurant location was once a Cocos restaurant. It doesn't appear that the outside front entrance has been attended to since the Cocos time frame. Dirty entryway does not help to aid the lack of attention one receives.

Yelp
Terrible service. I have been here multiple times and every single time there has been something that's been messed up with my order. One time, my Thai iced tea was ordered with boba but when I got it, there was no boba to be found. In all the times I've been here, food consistently took 25+ minutes to get to the table after ordering, and this happens regardless of how packed the restaurant is. My most recent (and certainly last) time I was here, my family and I ordered food and it took 36 minutes of waiting until we got impatient, and believe me when I say I set a timer to get concrete proof of how long it takes to get our orders. It turns out that the order was not properly sent to the kitchen, which meant that we were waiting for literally nothing. Not once did the server try to check up on us to see how our order was going. And this is no excuse either, since the restaurant had only 3 groups of 3-5 people in the restaurant including my family.

Allen N.

Yelp
Ordered a standard beef pho for pickup--what a letdown. No bean sprouts, no mint, no fixing, no sauces, just a sad, lonely-looking bowl. Felt more like a punishment than a meal.
google avatar

Rachel V.

Yelp
I really appreciate the excellent customer service! I ordered through Uber eats...Although the original driver cancelled the order they picked up, the restaurant promptly called to confirm the reorder and kept us updated. They even called again to let us know the food would arrive a bit later than expected, which was thoughtful. I've ordered here before, the food, was delicious, that's why I placed another order to be delivered.

Rose V.

Yelp
Worst service it is 8:18 and they told us they couldn't serve us a couple of soups cuz they were close!!! Your service is terrible
google avatar

Espy M.

Yelp
I accidentally ordered from this place using yelp and are glad I did... i ordered shrimp pho with chicken broth and I will be ordering soon again. Everything not only looked fresh but tasted fresh . Shrimp was perfectly cooked & serving size was adequate to the amount of broth and noodles... Egg rolls: Crispy golden brown : meaning frying oil is clean. Overall: tasty I highly Recommend that you try it if you are yelping for a good pho place in the area ... found you one !

Yelp
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Thw food tasted really good from the Pho to the Bahn Mi sandwhich. There was only thing that prevented it from being a 5 star rating and that was the fact that when they were cleaning the table with a towel , you can sort of smell the towel (recycled) washed and used musty smell. But other than that i would go back again to this place for my Pho fix. Just make sure to wash thoroughly your towels used for cleaning the table.

Yelp
This is the consistently best Pho Ca Dao in San Diego. I have been coming for years, primarily for the oxtail pho, and am consistently pleased. Only knocking off one star because the staff can be prickly when you ask for order adjustments. I get it, I get it. It can be frustrating dealing with particular customers. But I prefer rice with my pho and no noodles. For some reason this seem to infuriate the team here in ways I don't experience at other Vietnamese locations. But I keep coming back because this is some of the best tasting broth in town. I am also a fan of House of Pho and Pho 7 Cow in town, but keep coming back to Pho Ca Dao for two reasons: the pho flavor is perfectly balanced and the oxtails, which are often to find on a menu. I love that Pho Ca Dao does a pretty excellent job cleaning the oxtails and removing the fat -- for the most part. Another reasons for not giving a 5-star rating. There are some consistency issues here with the cuts but, overall, the flavor is on point. I also love the fatty brisket and tripe. Love, love, love. Other menu favorites are the crunchy egg rolls, grilled beef anything, crispy tofu and the sweet chili wings. Interestingly, I have only taking takeout. I have never actually eaten in the restaurant in about the three years I have been patronizing, so I cannot speak to the dine in experience. But I am pleased overall with the menu offerings, the serving sizes, the flavor and, again, the so so very good oxtails.

Lonn T.

Yelp
We have been here several times before and never encountered this before. Service for 3 bowls of Pho took over 20 minutes. The restaurant was not busy at all with 5 customers. For the owners sake, I hope they improve their customer service.
google avatar

Esteban L.

Yelp
Was excited to try my first pho place in Chula Vista. I was seated quickly. Waiting 15 minutes for my order to be taken in which they sat 3 parties and took their orders first. I was alone. After 20 minutes I decided to grab drive thru since I wouldn't have enough time being on my lunch break.
google avatar

Alfred A.

Yelp
The service was good, servers were polite and helpful. The fried tofu was really good, nice and crispy! The salt and pepper wings were alright but once I got the right amount of soy sauce and spice on them they were much better. My favorite those has to be the oxtail pho, this takes me back to my childhood and memories of my moms caldo de res but with noodles instead. The atmosphere inside is nice and appealing to the eye. I definitely recommend the oxtail pho but add a side a veggies to it, so so good!
google avatar

Patrick G.

Yelp
Good food is good, bad they tell you food will be ready in 15 min and you go pick up and they tell you it will be a 15 min wait and they hand you food with a attitude.
google avatar

Yelp
they never disappoint love their shrimp spring rolls & chicken pho. It always comes in good portions and always end up full
google avatar

Ian J.

Yelp
wanted some pho so decided to come down here and first off, service was pretty good, the girl came and asked how I'm doing and if i needed anything. the food came out at a reasonable time and the price was also reasonable. the other reviews saying the waiting for food is too long like 20 minute but to me it just seems like they're impatient. the crispy tofu like it says in the name was crispy and good and I ordered a regular size bowl pho and it was enough to make me full. The pho was good and plenty of meat inside. As I was leaving they greeted me out too. good place to dine with family and friends for sure.
google avatar

Nia L.

Yelp
I saw someone say they were shorted on meat, the same thing happened to me and I was pissed. Also got the surprise of a long hair wrapped in my egg roll and I threw up immediately. I will never order from here again, horrible way to spend NYE.
google avatar

Paloma C.

Yelp
Love their vegan pho! Such good broth I never have to add anything else to it. I'm used to adding in 5 lime and a lot of siracha but this broth is the best I've ever had, it needs nothing added to it. The service is fast and very clean nice place in Chula Vista. My husband and I love coming here
google avatar

Joe S.

Yelp
The surly host/waiter ruined my experience. Dumped me in a chair with a menu and proceeded to ignore me. No water. No ask for at least a beverage order. Nothing. Had to waive him down to put in an order. Had their House Pho bowl. Broth was decent. Not greasy. That was good. Not enough to overcome the shitty service.
google avatar

K G.

Yelp
Been here twice and the service is great, the waitresses are very nice and the chicken pho is so scrumptious and delicious as well as the taro shake and lychee jelly.
google avatar

Jazmin G.

Yelp
Nasty they serve you rotten food... Don't do it... And when you tell them they get mad... And to top it all off if you sit by the front it smells like shit due to their bathrooms being messed up...
google avatar

Lianne E.

Yelp
Sometimes you just crave spring rolls! And this place has it. Called and ordered for a pick-up. Quick and easy service and parking lot adjacent to restaurant made it easy to park.

Giovannie H.

Yelp
This place is a banger honestly this place has good service 5 stars keep up the good food

Yelp
W discovered this place by total accident. So glad we did , becaus we love Pho. Excellent food and service.

Yelp
I ordered a beef rare steak pho and got old smelly noodles and old beef that smelled really bad. Must of been sitting out. Tried calling restaurant to get order fixed and phone just rang with busy tone. Went back to get order fixed and they said they do not do that or refunds. Definitely do not go here. The cleanliness and hygiene of the food here is most definitely below sept of Env health standards. Will mot be returning to this place.
google avatar

Jordan K.

Yelp
I deliver for Uber eats, I arrived at the restaurant in 2 minutes of receiving the order, I've been waiting at the restaurant for 30+ minutes and the cooks seemed to prioritize other orders before the delivery. Do not order!!!!!!! No one is in the restaurant and the chefs are so incompetent.
google avatar

Joelle C.

Yelp
They were able to accommodate 11 of us. I called ahead and even though they don't do reservations but they were expecting us and got a table ready for us. We didn't have to wait at all. I called another place first and the other place seemed like they couldn't accommodate us and the lady over the phone hardly spoke English. So this place lucked out. I really liked the egg rolls here. Even ate it cold and hot after three days and they were still good. The chicken wings were good too. My usual order at any Vietnamese restaurant is the grilled pork with vermicelli noodles and egg rolls. It was generous of them to give me two egg rolls for my noodle dish. I thought it was tasty, my order. The portion was huge because I was so stuffed and probably I didn't share this dish with my autistic son. One of my sons ordered the shrimp fried rice and he said it was ok but portion was small. My autistic son had the beef stew with noodles and I forgot to try it. But my husband had the beef stew and bread and he said it was ok. He didn't eat the bread tho. He also ordered the beef sandwich and he said it's ok. Hard to find good banh mi and bo kho (beef stew) when you had tried the best. The Thai tea with boba was ok. The rest of my family order pho and I think they're ok. Kinda hard messing up pho. My family from Sacramento went to the sesame place and we drove 1 hour and half to meet them here for dinner. Thank God they seated us right away. Forgot to mention two things. 1. They had these cart that moved by themselves out to your table, which was cool. 2. The bathroom automatic paper towel only gives you two inches of paper towel....just not enough to dry my hands. Lastly, please get some better chopsticks. Worst chopsticks ever.

Yelp
Only pho place in Chula Vista truly open till 9pm. Ordered to go, great customer service. When I got to the place the cashier packed up my order and gave it to me. When I got home there was a weird small container in my noodle bowl, I included a picture I opened it, smaller it & tasted it. I think it's some sort of ginger sauce. I always try my broth first before I add anything... broth was bomb, I threw in all my fixings & some of that ginger sauce and Ohh my gattos this is freaking amazing!! New fav pho spot in Chula Vista!

Natalia L.

Yelp
The food was delicious, and the service was superb! A special shoutout to Beatrice for her outstanding help and attentiveness. I'll definitely be coming back! Place was super clean as well!

Sasha R.

Yelp
I've been coming to this place many times & I haven't had a bad experience. Food is good & staff is nice ! . Close to my work so I stop by & take it to go .

Wendy H.

Yelp
Ordered the large rare steak and brisket pho for delivery and received only less than half a cup of broth. Of course the noodles soaked up the small amount of broth I had making me unable to eat the rare steak since there wasnt enough to soak and cook it.

Yelp
I ordered food from this place via Uber Eats. I was staying at the RV park on silver strand and expected them to deliver my order. Nope! That's not a dig on the restaurant, that's UE's fault. I ordered a large Pho and another lemongrass platter with noodles. I went and picked them up and didn't regret it! Food was super yummy and would happily go there again.
