Best Vietnamese and Pho Restaurants in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Pho is obviously the star of the show here, but do try the restaurant’s bánh mì. Pair it with a milk tea or Vietnamese iced coffee. There’s also a location in Kennesaw." - Eater Staff

The Best Banh Mi in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Some say Pho Dakao finally brought serious pho to Smyrna when it opened on Cobb Parkway a few years ago. While the restaurant is known for its wide variety of Vietnamese noodle soups, the barbecue pork and chicken bánh mì on the menu are both worth ordering, especially for folks on the go." - Beth McKibben

Other reviews say the pho is bland. Are they blind? There are a variety of sauces to doctor your food to your liking. You can always add more. Service was great, got notified about an allergy at our table and had the side remade promptly. I did not like the lack of private seating, but in a small space you do what you can. They deserve a bigger space. Very filling and I feel healed from their food.

Google
Service was okay... there are room for improvements on server friendliness, professionalism(interaction with customers), attention to details (serving food without providing plates, silverware, etc). Springrolls - could use/fill with some more vegetable, they are heavy on vermicelli. Pho - Great amount of soup and meat! Felt the vermicelli/noddle part is too little. Overall taste was good. Glass bowls with clear chip on the rim should be trashed for safety reason. They are still using it to serve food for customer. Overall, okay dining experience. I might revisit in the future.

Stopped in here in our travels, I had the brisket pho and side of grilled shrimp. The pho overall was good, (brisket was sort of plain jane and slightly fatty, the shrimp was a smaller portion and didnt taste overly fresh). My gf had the grilled pork and shrimp vermicelli, which was good as well, along with the side shrimp and pork spring rolls. Overall not bad and not crazy expensive. Service was quick.

We dined here two times already! My friend loves the windy hill location so suggested us trying it out. I noticed there was a new one on barrett so came here! The first time we just split a bowl of Steak Pho and Chicken Fried Rice, the rice was surprisingly delicious! The Pho was also delicious, broth was yummy. I was impressed after the first visit. We dined here again not even a week ago for the second time, impressed again. We decided to try a few more items on the menu. We ordered a bowl of the Vegetable Pho, Steak Pho, and Brisket Pho. As well as Chicken Fried Rice, and the Vegetable Egg Noodles. Everything was delicious!! The Pho here is truly good and honestly way better than some of the "best" Pho places in Buford even. Finished the meal with an iced Vietnamese Coffee, strong!!! But tasted really good, almost like German chocolate. I highly recommend Pho Dakao and will tell all my friends they have the best Pho hands down

Google
We eat pho every few weeks and wanted to try somewhere different. The soup was good but was lacking some flavor in the broth and the meat was a little dry. It was empty when we went so food came out quick.

Google
Cardinal sin of going out to eat don’t judge a book by its cover! Man! My wife wanted some Pho. It’s Vietnamese food for those that don’t know. We pulled up and I was like it’s can’t be good in there, boy was I wrong! Food quality score and cleanliness was posted for all to see on the podium. We got seated quickly and in a nice spot. Server took our orders and like Flash food was on the table! We both ordered the Pho Shrimp Medium Bowl, it was really delicious and plenty to eat! I now have a go to spot for Pho and if your looking to expand your palate, go to Pho Davao in Kennesaw! Enjoy!

Google
Wow! This is the cleanest most modern Vietnamese Restaurant I’ve been in. The food and service was outstanding with large portions and the best thickest cuts of flank and brisket I’ve had in a Pho dish. The Banh Mi grilled pork was also very good with great bread that didn’t cut your lips as most do. Our server Regina was really really good and was constantly checking on us and refilling drinks. You have got to try this place!

Google
My friend and I were seated immediately when we walked in. The servers were kind and providing good customer service without being over bearing. The food came out quickly. I throughly enjoyed my flank pho. The noodles were the perfect texture and the broth was so delicious. I will definitely be heading back here when I'm in the area!

Yelp
I guess I didn't post a review after my first visit, but this review will basically be the same. At least they're consistent. I was out running errands and was close by, so I stopped in to grab some Pho. I ordered the summer rolls and the Pho Dac Biet. The summer rolls are filled pretty decently. The peanut sauce was very thick and sweet. The pho was good. The portion of meat seems to be a bit less compared to when I get pho off Buford or in Duluth. It's fine when I just want to take a short 10 min drive to satisfy my craving. There's nothing that really stands out about this place. It's not bad and it's not great.

Yelp
I want to take my nutrition up a notch, which can be a challenge while on the road. I was headed to one of the national chain restaurants, when I noticed Pho Dakao. We were warmly welcomed and ushered to our table. Two selections jumped off of the menu and grabbed my attention. With the help of our charming waitress my order of Veggie Soup and Com Chay was off to the chef. While waiting we warmed to the natural wood tables, cozy chairs and artwork on the walls. It seems like in no time at all our food was delivered hot, colorful and fragrant. I did not love the 90's music. I wish restaurants with ethnic cuisine would stick with the commensurate music. Cuisine and music are best paired together. We did our meal and left absolutely satisfied. Stop by and level up your nutrition with great Vietnamese food at Pho Dakao!

Yelp
The service was great and attentive! Pho was amazing and had everything you need to make the Pho even better! I do wish they put more noodles but it was still a great serving size. They do offer 3 sizes! Pictured is a small bowl! -S/N very clean restaurant and restrooms.

Yelp
Customer service was awesome. Can't remember her name, she was college kid working during the summer. I do remember that. Very polite and was spot on with drinks and food. Food, we had beef pho, meatball pho, spring rolls and bahn mi. Soup was good. Not as savory as I get back in Ca, but good. Bahn Mi was good, even better later when I ate the left overs. Spring roll was the only sub par dish. Very tight roll (good) but it seemed to be a bit dry. Peanut sauce was a little too sweet for me, but was flavor full. Overall, would eat there again because customer service great and need to try the other items on the menu.

Yelp
This place is really my comfort place. The food is always so delicious, everything that I want and more. You go in and first thing you're hit with is the most delicious smell. I literally get to the car and have to open it up right away to get at least one spring roll for the road. Anytime I'm craving something super light fresh and comforting best believe I'm coming here.

Yelp
The food is great from the steak or Combo pho to the spring rolls and papaya salad. The service is also outstanding, polite and on top of things. Amazing place to have dinner or a date.

Yelp
I love this place a lot!!!, I like the art style of the Vietnam women and the guitar paintings since I played guitar I felt at home. the food prices are reasonable prices for such a large rice bowl at 14$ (I think) it was amazing and I love the large food quantities the music playlists consist of (the Mariahs and laufey) which are very good artists the service was amazing the waitress would check up on us every once in a while and when i was out of water she came and refilled my drink within seconds I love this place and 100% recommend

Yelp
There's only few in ATL Metro that are considerately tasty when it comes to Pho and its broth and this place is one of them! I have to admit, it's a bit pricy but so like the others. I got to go order from here, but I really enjoyed everything here including their Thai Tea. I've had tea that are too sweet in the area, but this one is just right. I'm rating 4 star because they have forgotten the sauces and it didn't feel complete.

Yelp
I think the best thing this restaurant has going for it is its location -- steps away from Marshall's and TJ's. The pho, not so much. First they bring out a cold bowl covered in Saran Wrap with a small amount of sprouts, jalapenos and greens to add to the pho. "Is that all we get?" I asked the server, which prompted her to bring out another. Then came the soup. Virtually tasteless. What saved it were the limes. I squirted in as many as I could get my hands on and doctored it up with the shredded greens and sprouts. The shrimp in my pho tom were rubbery and did nothing to enhance the soup's flavor. I hate to denigrate a relatively new business, but with all the options in the neighborhood, this is a one-shot deal for me. And btw, it's not cheap.
google avatar

Yelp
Not a Pho expert like the others in the reviews but my best friend and I love this place. Besides their Pho being delicious, their spring rolls and Thai tea are also very good.

Yelp
The Bahn Mi was outrageous ! Combo Pho will ward off any natural illness ! I am not only healthier but far wiser for eating here! Service was 10/10! Buford Hwy can suck it!!
google avatar

Vyvy H.

Yelp
I'm Vietnamese and I'm used to my moms homemade pho. And this is the one. Hope that helps! Lol jk But seriously the broth is soooo savory, it had to have been brewing for over a day! That goes for both CHICKEN and BEEF pho broths! And yes, they give you enough veggies for your soup. I feel like most places skimp out because some people just waste them, which is a shame. Oh and SATE! That is all. No need to fight your way into downtown Atlanta.

Yelp
Clean and fun atmosphere, but the food was not up to par. I had beef pho. The beef was tough sbd noodle soggy. The service was good.
google avatar

Yelp
In my opinion the food is always amazing. Great appetizers and choices. This is my go to spot when I want to eat out!

Madeline B.

Yelp
The food was so good! Very flavorful and they're not shy with the meat either. I can't say anything about the service because I ordered off of uber eats. The menu was easy to get through and order from though. The only thing I didn't like was the sauces. It ruined the flavor of my broth I wouldn't recommend adding it.

Krystal S.

Yelp
Feels like authentic pho! Fast and efficient service, really makes you feel warm and cozy.

Yelp
Decent food in a pinch. Had the fried egg rolls and shrimp fried rice. Can't complain. The fried rice is a bit too oily. Would not have it again.

Heidi H.

Yelp
Ordered online, ready in 10 min, and the chicken pho was delicious! Third time I've gotten it and it was just as good every time.

Yelp
Place is easy to find in a strip mall. The restaurant looks small from the front, but expands out to a sizable dining area as you walk in. The service was OK. It seemed that only 2 people were serving and the place was packed. The servers were doing an amazing job juggling take out orders one after another. The food took a while to come to our table. However, it was absolutely delicious! The fried rice and chicken plate we shared was scrumptious! The pho we ordered was delicious! The broth was hot, savory and spot on. The fresh crispy sprouts and fresh basil added a wonderful taste to our pallets that lingered pleasantly. My chicken was a bit cold and chewy, but I took it home and my dogs loved it. The noodles were just right. Service was a bit slow due to how busy they were. Nevertheless, the servers were really hustling. Our server was polite, accommodating and friendly. We ended up taking half of our pho home. Unfortunately, it did not taste the same the next day. Our dogs enjoyed the left overs. I would definitely recommend Pho Dakao if you are eating the food right away. Don't save it for the next day.

Yelp
Staff can be quiet but they are kind and efficient. The food is tasty and the restaurant is clean. It's become our go to Pho spot for Kennesaw

Yelp
3.5 stars "Pricey and overcooked noodles, but owner is willing to improve" Food: 2 stars due to broken over cooked noodles Staff damage control with good attitude: 1.5 extra star I was on the way out of town and wanted some pho. This place had good reviews so I came. I ordered their XL large pho (it's just the broth and the meat that's extra, not the noodles) for a whopping $17. The pho came after about 15 minutes and I was shocked- the noodles are over cooked and when I tried to lift them up they broke immediately- I have never had this happen in any pho restaurant. It also wasn't large enough to be called an XL, IMO. The "rare steak" came all well cooked, unlike authentic pho they are normally lightly cooked. I wasn't gonna say anything but I couldn't pick up the noodles because they would break. I finally talked to my waitress about it and she brought me a small bowl of soup and noodles. This time noodles weren't over cooked. I gave them an extra star and a half for their willingness to correct their issues.
google avatar

Diego B.

Yelp
Best Pho in town, for sure! I get a small steak pho with extra noodle. I get the small because it's quite large! If you look at the bar to the left, they have all three sizes so you can decide if you want a larger portion. Highly recommend! The flavor profile is emense as is, but they have this pepper oil that you can add for some extra spice! They also have Sriracha if you enjoy the classics. I get the Vietnamese iced coffee to go, and it really just completes the lunch. Quite an amazing experience from start to finish. Exactly what you'd expect from a great restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
This has quickly become one of my go to Vietnamese places. The pho comes in 3 sizes. It also comes in a few varieties. Beef, chicken, and vegetarian. The standard sprouts, lime and jalapeños comes with your soup. For a small up charge you can get egg noodles instead of the rice noodles. That would be my recommendation. I had the shrimp in chicken broth with egg noodles. The broth was delicious and served piping hot. On my visits I've ordered the spring rolls. They are really fresh although much smaller than I am used to. The sauce is fantastic. Although I didn't take a picture of it I also split a bah mi. The has been the least successful choice in my opinion. The chicken was so dry although the bread was really good. I would not order it again. The fried rice here is HUGE. It is flavorful and definitely worth trying. I was a little disappointed that they don't make a spicy version. Although they have chili oil and sriracha on the table it just hits different when it's cooked in. If you like fried rice then you should definitely try it here. The service is friendly and efficient. Highly recommended

Yelp
Dropped in for a quick lunch. First time visit. Was very glad I did. The chicken fried rice was wonderful. Fresh veggies were plentiful and the flavor was great. It was a big bowl and I had plenty to take home to enjoy. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Having authentic Vietnamese food in Kennesaw is becoming a reality! I visited this hidden gem and I enjoyed a delicious chicken Pho and a very tasteful Banh Mi, the iced Vietnamese coffee was also really good. The place is really nice and costumer service is amazing!
google avatar

Sally W.

Yelp
The restaurant was nice and clean inside. Once seated, we ordered a steak pho and combination pho. Our food came quickly after placing our orders. We were given bowls with Thai basil, bean sprouts, jalapeño and lime that were covered in plastic. As for our pho, the pho was severely lacking in flavor. I also thought the beef in my pho was also overcooked and too chewy.
google avatar

Bernardo S.

Yelp
Came at the right time the place was not busy I ordered me a combo for steak marinated over rice and chicken Fried rice to go. Ordered combo pho for dine in. I like the serving size. A good restaurants that always great you when you walk is almost certain its going to be good eats. good customer service i would recommend this place.

Michelle D.

Yelp
Prompt service good food fresh tasting Vegetable spring rolls were amazing Southwest app wasn't too sweet or sour perfectly made

Averie J.

Yelp
Great pho, lemongrass chicken and the marinated beef is my fav Service is mid, I always have to call for servers attention or walk to them Plenty of seating I just wish they had booths

Yelp
Ordered to-go during covid-19. Dining room is open but I don't feel comfortable eating at restaurants yet. The phone ordering process was pleasant. The gentleman that answered my call was patient and informative. Veggie stir-fry. My friend ordered this but it wasn't what either of us expected and my friend was not pleased with the taste. D Vegetable noodle soup. It was just ok. Generous portion and I love the vegetables included. However, the broth was not flavorful and the vegetables needed to be cut smaller. Additionally, the noodles were more like spaghetti noodles than rice noodles. Overall, the dish was difficult to eat. C Perhaps I came on an off-day, or vegetable dishes aren't their forte (which could explain the limited selection). But, I would not return.
google avatar

Aaron B.

Yelp
This was our first experience here, and honestly, it was great! The service was excellent, and our waitress made several excellent suggestions. My wife and I split the Papaya Salad appetizer and the Marinated Beef Tenderloin entree. Both were excellent. What looks like noodles in the picture of the salad is actually shredded green papaya. This salad was fantastic, and we definitely will be having that again. The flavor was excellent... just a hint of sweetness. The entree was also excellent. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the marinated beef was packed with flavor. If you like this style of food at all, you should stop in.
google avatar

Sarah Beth R.

Yelp
It was okay food and the service was not terrible, but seemed cold and not particularly friendly when I ordered over the phone and when picking up. I did order to go, so I can't speak for dine in experience, but I would probably not eat here again as I just feel like I've have better Vietnamese food before! The spring rolls were very yummy though

Seasick G.

Yelp
I recently wanted my parents to try something new so I heard of this place and we decided to try it out. Surprisingly we loved the ambiance of the restaurant and the food was delicious. Usually I am scared to try something new but this was a great experience. The service was really good the nice lady was patient with us and helped us with our orders. I really recommend this place for others. I hope to be back one day!!

Yelp
Nice, clean restaurant. Good pho, no complaints. Service was kinda and fast! Price was up to par with competitors in the area with good serving sizes!! :)

Yelp
Best Vietnamese in the area! Being a recent Chicago transplant, my Asian food standards are high. I have yet to find a Thai, Korean, or Chinese place that really hits it out of the park for me. I look for a combo of authenticity, taste, and value. Don't charge me $15 for fried rice if it's not authentic AND tastes just ok you know what I mean? Pho Dakao has a great mix of all of the above. First and foremost, EVERYTHING is delicious! I've eaten in and taken out numerous times, and it's consistently good. In this current Covid era, it's important that food travels well when you order take out. Although I'm not Vietnamese, there were plenty of Vietnamese patrons there which definitely gives them street cred. But from frequenting Chicago's Uptown, this place is very authentic in my opinion. The prices are fair what the quality and quantity you get. I like that there is only a small price difference between each size of bowls. I only wish for their pho, they had some type of build your own because I want a specific assortment of meats and my best bet is to get the combo and add meatballs and just put aside the ones I don't want. Otherwise it gets too pricey to add them individually. Even my mom who is super picky requests to eat here when she comes to visit from Chicago. Bonus: the bathrooms and overall place is clean and the service is always nice and friendly!

Yelp
Hard to find a good pho place around where I live. My friend and I decided on Pho after our hike, and boy did it hit the spot!! We started with the spring rolls which was served with peanut dipping sauce. The sauce isn't too sweet and it paired perfectly. I had the combo food and my friend had the shrimp pho. They gave us plenty of bean sprouts and basil to share (love bean sprouts!!). The soup is flavorful and they do give a decent amount of meat and noodles so you're not just drinking soup. We were starving, but figure the small would be enough and it was!! They do close for a break between 3pm - 5pm. Which they start to turn everyone away about 30-40mins before 3pm. I think that if you're going to close at 3, then I understand maybe 15mins before, but 30-40mins is a bit extreme.

Yelp
I took out food so no in dining service rating reflected in this review. Late night shopping took me to this place because a look for someplace near to me on Yelp. I was not disappointed! It's in the shopping center with marshals and resigns and has only been open a couple of months. I ordered on the phone to go and by the time I was there it was hot and ready! I asked for the combination and had the steak and brisket. Very well packed and the container was sturdy so it didn't fall apart by the time I was ready to put together my Pho If you like Pho, I suggest order the large portion because leftovers are good and you get more value for your money for only a dollar more! I will definitely come back! Came back and dined in. As I expected the service was great Regina was very attentive, Pho came out very hot!! Which is how it should be! This is my new go to pho place when I'm in Marietta!
google avatar

Meghan D.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. I could eat the brisket pho every day and never get tired of it!!
google avatar

Omar D.

Yelp
Amazing Pho! The medium is a great size and the extra large is huge! I usually get the extra large and I still can't have enough of it! The staff is friendly and are very helpful when ordering! Would recommend it during the cold winter times especially!
google avatar

Tina T.

Yelp
Food was okay. Drove through town on a rainy day and pho is always good for a rainy day. Portion size is good. Broth is not very flavorful, not bad but not authentic tasting. Same with appetizer we had (fried spring rolls) Service was good! Fast and friendly.
google avatar

L. M.

Yelp
Large serving sizes, the medium Pho will stuff your average adult. The amount of meat was about 50% more than most pho places I've been too, and the broth was good (not over diluted or too salty). The 4 stars are because the basil was skimpy, and the siracha sauce was a knockoff.
google avatar

Ray L.

Yelp
Great service and the pho was amazing. I got the medium sized flank pho and was not disappointed! Server (Oscar) was friendly and on top of it. Food came out really fast and he consistently checked on me to make sure I was good. Definitely coming back.
google avatar

Steven N.

Yelp
We came here on Saturday. It was not busy at all and got seated right away. We have been to a lot of Pho places all over. This place is below average. Service was good, but that didn't compensate for quality of food here. May be we are picky when it comes to Pho quality. The vegetables (mints, etc..) came out of a fridge in a pre-package bowl and didn't look fresh
google avatar

Sheila S.

Yelp
I'm from Houston, TX originally, so I've had some pretty good Vietnamese food. Pho Dakao is about the closest to Houston's. We normally get Vietnamese penicillin (aka chicken pho) but lately we had their vermicelli with marinated beef tenderloin. It's always a generous portion and the beef is nice and garlicky. It's topped with shredded carrots and crushed peanuts. Their pork banh mi was also very good. Not the best I've ever had, but hits the spot. If you're ever in the area shopping (at our favorite shopping center with TJM, HomeGoods, Marshall's), give Pho Dakao a try!

Janina F.

Yelp
Food is amazing, fresh, great taste, and a great selection of different items. Service is almost nice and fast/ attentive. Ambiance is always clean and cozy in there. It's definitely my fav when it comes to pho!
google avatar

Crystal W.

Yelp
I was craving pho since I was sick and happened to be in the area since I was shopping at TJMaxx. It was my first time here. I ordered the combination pho (beef brisket, tendon and tripe). It comes in small, medium or extra large. The amount of broth is the same for medium and extra large. You just get more ingredients in the extra large which costs $13. I ordered to go which was nice that they separated the noodles from the broth. I wasn't a fan of the broth: it was too dark for pho. I think they added too much soy sauce. Overrall there are better pho places in the area. The search continues....

collin s.

Yelp
Been coming for the last year or two; Staff is friendly and food is fresh; comes out quickly as well! Couldn't recommend a better place to have Pho in Kennesaw! Always get the P.10 w/ a Pork Banh Mi and it's always hot and fresh!

Tina J.

Yelp
I will be contacting the health department. I usually go there once a week with my husband. Iv been wanting to stop going there because the service sucks! Sometimes they run out of meat and don't tell you but you still pay full price. Today THERE WAS A BUG IN MY PHO! When I told the waiter he laughed and said " you want a discount"!? I didn't not pay for mine but will not be going there ever again. If I have any health issues I am suing the place. When manager found out didn't even bother to come apologize or anything. Please see picture below.

Yelp
Found a pho spot which I have been trying here for a while. This place was packed every time we try to dine in. Today we were lucky to find a seat. Like all other pho restaurants, they have the usual menu with pho, rice, and etc. We ordered fried rice with steak plate with pho combo (med) and fresh spring rolls. And ice coffee. Vietnamese Ice coffee is a must here. This spot has to be in my top 5 place to get Vietnamese ice coffee. Pho was great. Full of flavor and just the right size. A lot of meat and the soup was just right. Rice plate with steak was 9/10. Steak was well cooked but not over cooked. I wished they ask how the customer like their steak cooked. Fresh Spring roll was decent. Not amazing but just good enough. For some reason you could smell the taste inside your mouth which I didn't like too much. Overall great staff great service and would be back to try something new.
