The 17 Best Hidden Gem Restaurants in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"Hidden on the other end of a Circle K convenience store parking lot and surrounded by a small makeshift garden, the third outlet of this Vietnamese restaurant opened in Alhambra serving oxtail pho and shrimp rolls, but adds some more creative fare from owner Hanli Su’s mother, Lani Nguyen. Nguyen adds everything from crispy mushroom tempura to a periwinkle blue sticky rice platter studded with boiled egg, Chinese sausage slivers, and mushrooms." - Eater Staff

18 Essential South Bay Restaurants

"Gardena’s Pho Ever is an expansion from San Gabriel Valley serving some of the best beef pho in the South Bay. Looking like it moved into a former Korean barbecue restaurant, Pho Ever’s space has family-friendly alcoves that feel semi-private for quieter Vietnamese feasts." - Matthew Kang

Google
This place was simply amazing. The food was very delicious. I love the 3 size options of PHO. Regular. Large and X large. The tsingtao beer was good too

Google
i HATE writing bad reviews but this place is just run by a bunch of kids with no sense of urgency 🥲. Super hot in there with no AC so you’re sweating the whole time you’re eating. Brought our order out twice, since it was wrong the first time. Whatever sides like lemon and spouts are prepped by the same cashiers without any gloves and hand washing. Waited 25 minutes for 2 spring rolls after our order was finished. Food was super good though, employees weren’t rude or anything, but just super bad service and speed. So disappointed considering my best friend hyped this place up all week😩

Emely 4hunnid

Google
Food was super good , customer service is super bad they have underage kids working laughing while not taking orders , waited 20 minutes to take my order and 30 minutes to bring my food and it was the wrong order so waited more time . No type of sanitizing , infection control it was very disgusting no gloves I left my food and left because it was way too warm in the restaurant and underage kids just messing up my order. I used to be loyal customer but it’s not worth coming back. Bad customer service

Dont bother... just keep driving... i use to come here 20 years ago when it was an ayce korean bbq. Well it has changed hands a few times but they kept the exact same decor with the nasty fake plants. Its really gross, dirty, n just nasty. We wanted to leave the moment we got there but we went for the spring rolls. So being a Vietnamese restuarant with no Vietnamese employees visable added more to my uneasiness. I asked for a side bowl of plain white rice. They had to check if they had rice... seriously.... then they charged $6 dollars for it. Like your just thieves.... The combo pho was ok on the sweet side. We figured it was loaded with msg.... well im now thirsty and itching so yes there is a lot of msg. The deep fried tofu was 9 bucks for a small plate but the 2 tiny itty bitty fried eggrolls was a joke for $6.45 my friend said it tasted frozen so i didnt bother eating mine. Now as to the springrolls with chicken n sausage they were very good 8/10. So you can see my bill. I added 10 bucks for a tip so $80 bucks for 2 people to sit in a dump to get frozen eggrolls and $6 dollar bowls of rice... wow run away as fast as you can.

Google
Good food. I had a combo Pho and Bún Bò Huế (in 2 visits). Very good broth and meat quality over all. The BBH should have more "chả" (a kind of Vietnamese meat ... loaf?) and less chili oil. I like how they put a lot of green onion

Mary Tran

Google
The food is overall edible but not authentic vietnamese. The only plus size is that the portion are large. Some of the rice were burn or clump together. Bun Bo Hue was not make with the right traditional broth. Their service left a lot to be desired. We have to ask to be given utensils to even eat with, ask again for the vegetable, then we got 2 of the 3 drink order and have to ask twice more for the last one.

Erick Rodriguez

Google
I've eaten here before. The food is only decent. Last time I came they wanted to charge 20% gratuity for having 6 people. I had 3 kids, one of which was only 2, and my elderly parents. NOT FAMiLY friedly

Sheryll Sheppard

Google
They give you a roll of paper towels to use for napkins, they have no table waiters, you order at the front door then go to your seat and wait for your food which took over 40 minutes. You get no plates or utensils Taxes is supposed to be 10.25% they charge 10.50%. You pay $3 for 1 small cup of tea and they have no sugar for the tea. You are lucky to get kitchen silver ware if you ask. I will never come here again!!!! Bad Service!!@

Yelp
My favorite pho spot! I always either get the well done brisket pho or the lemongrass pork or chicken rice place. The brisket banh mi is also super good. The chicken fried egg rolls & chicken spring rolls are the bomb. Love the thai tea with oat milk! Service is really bad, the servers are all very young so i usually take my food to go. They usually have a 20% off on doordash. I do love the private booths they have for seating. Not sure why a lot of people dont enjoy their food, ive tried all the pho spots in my area & this is the only place that hits.

Yelp
I don't know what happened to this place..... I hadn't been here since the panda & I won't ever come back. The vegetable pho was awful. Broth had no flavor & the vegetables themselves were just huge chunks. No mushrooms or corn or bok choy. I think I got cabbage and carrots. The tofu wasn't fried. It was just straight plain cubes tossed into the soup. Like wow, the least you could do is fry the tofu so there is at least a little flavor. The shrimp...THEY DONT CLEAN THE SHRIMP! How are you going to charge me so much for a dish & you aren't even going to bother cleaning the protein...that's dirty and lazy af. Overall, I just thought everything i ordered was nasty. Like cup of noodles has so much more flavor for a fraction of the price.

Yelp
Ordered takeout and dined in a few times, and solid overall but a little on the heavier side. FOOD: - Spring Rolls Sampler - Shrimp, Chicken, Pork Sausage (4.5/5): All so good and so fresh - Fried Egg Rolls (4/5) - Good and flavorful - Spicy Pho Rare Steak (4.5/5) - So good and flavorful but heavy from all the chili oil, so you only crave and have this every so often - Braised Beef Brisket Banh Mi (5/5) - So good, we usually get our own (yes, in addition to our own phos) because the bread is so soft and the meat is so juicy! PARKING: Located in a sketchy looking strip mall with parking outside.
google avatar

Andrea K.

Yelp
Small free parking lot Put in our order, took 30 min for the appetizers to come out. Although there was only one party ahead of us. We noticed it ok them a while to get their food out. Once the food arrived it was good. Pork fried egg rolls- great. Fresh hot Pork sausage spring rolls- good flavor Rare beef pho- great flavor broth Oxtail beef pho- ox tail had some soft fall off the bone meat. While some was a bit tougher. Bun Bo hue- has a sweeter soup compared to other BBH I've had. Overall the food was good. Service was good It took a while for food to come out.

Yelp
The restaurant food is so inconsistent. I don't recommend ordering from this place anymore! You never know what or quality of the food. I recently order spring rolls and the peanut sauce is so watery and has no flavor . I miss the old pho ever.
google avatar

noe g.

Yelp
Excellent taste I think the best pho I had so far. We got some spring rolls and Sausage spring rolls that were delicious, would recommend to everyone to try the pho is like in Vietnam very truly tasteful!!!
google avatar

Julio V.

Yelp
Just enjoyed a pretty good bowl of Pho at this location! We got the spring roll sampler, shrimp and oxtails phos. All were great! Really enjoyed the pork spring rolls and the peanut sauce. Flavorful in the soups. Unexpectedly sweet but goes well with the spiciness. Oxtail wasn't fall-off-the-bone tender but still pretty flavorful. The location has a traditional look and feel. A bit smaller than expected but we got sat right away. Service was good and attentive. Will be returning to try other bowls!

Yelp
The food is good here. I recommend the brisket and well done beef pho and the egg rolls are good. The service is nice and the inside is cool there is places to sit.

Yelp
Great food! So filling. Great customer service. This was a pick up order so I'm not sure about the ambiance. The food is so good. This is my second time ordering from here. The portion sizes are quite adequate. I live in Torrance and there are Pho spots near me, but ill drive to Gardena to eat their food.

Yelp
I think one of the best bun Bo hue, I've had in a while. I wouldn't say it's 100% authentic, because you can adjust the spice and the taste wasn't 100%, and they just seem to add more chili oil but it was very delicious. Personal preference, wish it had more shrimp paste cause I like strong flavors but it was still good. Noodles come in a few sizes so if you want a lot, order a large. The viet coffee is PRE MADE, it tastes like the instant coffee mix you get at the Vietnamese store, just put hot water. I was not a fan of the coffee... I also got the spring rolls sampler, it was also very good. It comes with three rolls, pork meatball kind ( like Bahn mi filling), regular summer roll, and steamed pork roll. When I went, there were two young female staff. They were very efficient and managed everything very well. One was kind of "fake", polite by voice but not actually in her body language which kind of caught me off guard but I mean it's a restaurant so her attitude didn't really bother me. I tend to judge on food taste rather than service per say. Restaurant is just a regular restaurant, they blocked off a section for maybe the owner, to work on the management side but there was plenty of seating and the food was much better than expected.

Yelp
It's a good Vietnamese restaurant in Gardena but the location was a little sketchy. The restaurant itself is interesting, it looked like it was a either Korean BBQ or Japanese BBQ place. There are small rooms with vents on top. In terms of food, the appetizer spring rolls was on the small side, peanut sauce was really tasty. The pho was on the salty side, in general it's tasty and with a lot of meat, the noodle texture was nice. The bahn mi was okay, I liked that they toasted the baguette, but the beef brisket was a little too sweet for me. We also order the Vietnamese coffee and Thai tea, both tasted good, pretty sweet but they add to much ice that I feel we only get less than half of the cup of the drink.

Angela T.

Yelp
I tried this place randomly after I was craving Pho in one of my post baby hangry sessions. The broth was exactly like homemade. The first go round I had the brisket, the second time I did the rare steak and tendon, and the third time I did a combination of meats. It was hardy and filling. I always get extra noodles so my kids can eat off my bowl but for a full grown adult you would really be satisfied with a regular. The last time I was there and even as they were understaffed it didn't feel like it. My water cup was filled and I was checked on so I was happy. It is a hole in the wall place where good food is always served.

Yelp
Pretty good Pho and eggrolls. Broth was good. Good portion of meat and noodles. Friendly staffs, good service.

Yelp
Worse vegan pho I've ever had. Ordered XL veggie pho, for $17.95, it's just raw tofu(no flavor at all) and whole bunch of giant pieces of boiled veggies. And the pho noodle is not even cooked, it's so hard that I had to cook it again to be able to eat it. And I also ordered a chicken chow mein, mild level of spicy, and add extra note says "no spicy" because this dish is for my kids. But it end up to be very spicy, my kids can't eat it at all. So I called for a item refund because they got my order wrong, the person who answered the phone was nice but per usual she has to check with her manager and call me back. So I will be waiting for them to reach back out. Hopefully they do so, because I don't live in Gardena, and even if I do, I probably will not go back to this restaurant again for a compensatory discount. Will leave comment under this post to update. Vegan people don't be fooled by the reviews of this place.
google avatar

Cristy L.

Yelp
I was a loyal customer at Pho Ever for years, but lately the waiting time is too long. I love their food, but their prices have been very high for the last couple of years. I will recommend Pho Ever if you have time to wait. I if you don't mind the $$.

Yelp
The place is nicer on the inside than it looks on the outside. It's still simple, but there are plenty of tables and overall tidy. We came during lunchtime and ordered beef pho lunch special, banh mi beef, and veggie pho. The lunch special ($13) comes with an egg roll and jasmine iced tea. The pho on its own is usually $13. The beef broth in the pho is incredibly flavorful! I would usually add the chili sauce and hoisin to my pho, but I didn't to this one because it was so tasty. The beef pho also had a lot of beef in it. Great value. For the veggie pho, you could choose between vegan or beef broth. I went with beef broth (I typically get veggie pho bc I like tofu and lots of veggies). The veggie pho was overloaded with veggies, including bok choy, red/green cabbage, carrots, zucchini, and broccoli. The banh mi had a lot of beef in it, but not a lot of the pickled vegetable topping (carrot, cilantro, etc). The bread was good, but not excellent. Overall, not super impressive. Go for the pho!!

Yelp
The food is so delicious! High quality ingredients. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Sooo much has changed here, it used to be Great food & Excellent customer service, they literally new me by name. Not any more, I went today 8/16/23, in my clover app I had a 30% off a new food item there. Shaken beef with garlic noodles, the young lady found me in the system, I showed her the barcode for the 30% off. She reports that the system has been down all day, but she can give me 20% off. Another young lady showed up telling me about the system issues as well. The 1st lady tell lady #2 that she's going to give me 20% because my deal is 30% off but the system issue. Lady #2 completely ignored lady #1 and said, "The most I can do is 15% off" I canceled my whole order & walked out!! Foolishness & Unprofessional It's not like business is booming anyway, the end is very near. (( waving)) Bye Pho Ever!!

Yelp
The combination fried rice was old with clumps of the pan scrapings in the mix, a few small pieces of chicken, and three shrimps. We got a side of shrimp (for $7 even though the menu stated $5) only to receive 4 shrimp. $75 later for 2 soft , 1 reg pho, 1 large pho, 1 kid pho, combo fried rice and a side of shrimp, my entire family left disappointed by the lack of quality in the food.

Yelp
I tried this Pho Ever Gardena since it first grand opening way back in 2009. I remembered when this restaurant first grand opening, there's a Grand Opening Special of 30% discount of entire bill. Anyways, although it's a "Pho" restaurant, my most favorite dishes in this Pho Ever Gardena are surprisingly NOT the Pho, but the following: 1) Mi Kho (Dry Egg Noodles) dishes. 2) Mi Xao ("Chow Mein" Style Stir Fried Noodles), especially when the noodles are extra crispy 3) Mi Nuoc ("Ramen" Style Noodle Soup) but with the Vietnamese recipe instead of Japanese 4) Com Tam (Rice Plates) dishes, especially when it included the Egg Patty (Cha Chung), Suon Nuong (Grilled pork steak) & Bi (shredded pork) 5) Bun Mang Vit (Vermicelli Bamboo Shoot Duck Noodle Soup) These 5 dishes are my recommended dishes & they surprisingly overpowered their Pho Dish. The secret to all their "Mi" dishes (soup & non-soup) are because of that Chili Oil Condiment they have; I think they made their own Chili Oil, which is an excellent condiment for most of the dishes they serve. Restaurant environment: I noticed most of their tables consist of those "Table Top" Cooking (from the looks of it, Pho Ever was formerly a KBBQ place). For the Table Top Cooking, they don't use it. Please see my Suggestions below. I heard the Pho Ever Franchise recently opened a Alhambra location. Congratulations to the expansion of the 2nd location in Alhambra. Please see my Suggestions below for additional location opening recommendations. Overall I like Pho Ever Gardena. Great Viet Restaurants. Now for My Suggestions for Further Enhancing Your Restaurant's Franchise: 1) The Gardena Pho Ever consist of those Table Top Cooking Stoves on most of the dining tables. My recommended dish to add to your menu that would put those Table Top Cooking Tables into good use: Any Vietnamese Style Hot Pot (aka. Lau). That or Vietnamese table top cooking bbq such as the "Bo 7 Mon". Of course, it depends on your affordability. Maybe start with like a "Weekend Family Special" menu for that & go from there. But again, it depends if you can afford to use those Table Top Cooking Tables, because they ARE very useful for your restaurant. 2) Further expansion of your franchise. Congratulations again on opening up your Alhambra Pho Ever location; whenever I am in the Alhambra neighborhood, I will swing by & give your Alhambra branch a try. Speaking of additional locations, I am residing in the San Fernando Valley area, I was hoping if your Pho Ever Franchise ever get more successful in thriving in the future, you could perhaps open up a 3rd or 4th location, of which my future recommended location to potentially open up your 3rd or more future franchise would be at my neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley area, especially around Lake Balboa, Van Nuys, Northridge, Granada Hills, or Woodland Hills area. Those above are my suggested areas to potentially expand more of your Pho Ever Franchise if you were given the opportunity. Overall, great Vietnamese restaurant. Whenever I am in Gardena again, I'll be sure to swing by this Pho Ever for my meal times. 5/5 from me. Keep up the good work Pho Ever of Gardena.

Viri L.

Yelp
The food wasn't the best tasting. Had to toss it out and just like that $18 went to the trass.
google avatar

Andrew H.

Yelp
My family and I would order via DOORDASH here one to two times a week. We have ordered over 30 times and even though we check the box to include UTENSILS, they NEVER include them. HOW CHEAP CAN THIS PLACE BE TO NEVER DO SO?? What if we were ordering from an office, or somewhere away from home? You expect your customers to eat with their hands?!? People are beginning to escalate with all of the food delivery apps about this place being so damn CHEAP about never providing utensils. I understand busineses need to cut cost, but at least give us the basic tools to eat and enjoy your food!
google avatar

Andrea C.

Yelp
in the words of Randy Jackson, "issa no from me dawg" This is the worst banh mi I EVER had. which is crazy bc just last month I would have told you otherwise. whatever their reason is to change up the menu- huge mistake. purchased 2 banh mis and they were full of fatty shredded meat (their brisket used to be slices) and HUGE chunks of fat in each bite, soggy bread, and like a sprinkle of the pickled carrots and daikon (literal amount in my pics- no sarcasm when I say sprinkle.) I asked for extra and some jalapenos on the side and the girl said "we'll give them to you, but the toppings come as is" -___- All I know is this is a tall tell sign that the end is near for Pho Ever. it was good while it lasted.

Jamenica R.

Yelp
Price is decent. Nothing special either their food. Pho is okay but they give hot enough broth. Spring rolls was nasty. Regretted ordering from this place.
google avatar

Richard B.

Yelp
I tried their beef brisket bah mi sandwich along with their cucumber basil lemonade. All I can say is delicious. The meat was super juicy and the lemonade wasn't too sweet, but very hydrating.
google avatar

Lynn G.

Yelp
Food was good but service has definitely suffered in the last four years. I miss the friendly, attentive service used to have. When we came with our toddler used to have small baskets with smaller plastic utensils and had food scissors to cut pho noodles for kids. They also would get our no onions requests right. Plus no strange crazed man yelling at restaurant guests. If you dont have an option go here but I'll be sticking to the OG place in Ktown.
google avatar

Steve M.

Yelp
I love this place, best Pho in town. Great atmosphere, and the food is to fantastic. Try the chicken fried rice, the combo Pho, and wash it down with the ice coffee

Michael S.

Yelp
Zero star if I could. We wanted to try a new pho place. Bad choice. Food and service are both bad. Avoid it. I had the ox tail pho. The food is borderline bad.
google avatar

Sherly A.

Yelp
Pho is really good out here. We love it. Great taste , we have the combo pho and brisket.
google avatar

Kelsey M.

Yelp
Food is good. We got the chicken egg rolls and the rare steak pho. We shared a large and it was a good size for us. Service was good. Ambiance is laid back. Booths are separated so you have your own little den.
google avatar

Humza S.

Yelp
Tried the Bun Bo Hue cause I was craving something spicy - wow let me tell you this absolutely satisfied my craving and then some! If you're looking for a hearty, spicy, lemon-y, heartwarming bowl of soup then this is it! The meat was tender and tasty, the broth was spicy and rich in flavor. It comes with a thicker, softer noodle - if that's not your thing, I'd swap out with the standard pho noodle. Overall very tasty, perfect for a cloudy day. The server Kayla was also welcoming and friendly! Will definitely be back
google avatar

Mariama G.

Yelp
I've tried Pho 3 times before this & this changed me into a believer. The broth was seasoned very well which I was very pleased about & the portion sizes are great for the pricing. Our server was very informative of the different types of pho & she was so sweet. They play classical type music & the lights are very warm. I love how they are little booths perfect for a party of 2 that are similar to a small room. You can also chose your spice level ! Highly suggested especially for first timers to Pho or if you just like Pho at all
google avatar

Oliver U.

Yelp
Service is terrible! Took us close to 45 min to get our order. I had to say something after we saw other party getting their food even though they came after us. They never apologized. And the food is just OK. Very frustrating...
google avatar

Tina C.

Yelp
As in my previous review for Pho 87 in LA, there was no place like it. I needed to find a closer pho place to me, so I searched in the South Bay. Went to about 10 pho restaurants in Gardena, Hawthorne, none were great. Until I landed here! This broth is so amazing, not salt and not plain, just right. Beyond grateful to have found an amazing pho place in South Bay. Daily specials from 11-3, got this huge bowl of pho, a drink and veggie roll for $14

Keith G.

Yelp
Had this as a last resort pho dinner, by far the worst pho I have ever had in my life. The rare beef pho could not have been beef. The meat must have been expired, and the noodles were dark brown. Would have taken this back had they not been closed. They may have good food...........MAY, however, the food I received tonight was horrible sad to say. Had to write a review!
google avatar

Erin H.

Yelp
This would be a 3.5 if I could give half stars. The good: the large did have great portions. Lots of veggies, large pieces of tofu, and fair amount of noodles and broth for the vegan pho. Came with siracha, lime, bean sprouts, and jalapeño per usual. The bad: the large was $18!! For a non-meat option? (Regular was $16). Okay, sure, whatever. But then it cost extra to add a spice level?? Cmon. Also, tons of plastic in their packaging process for to-go. Also, broth was good but was def more on the meh side of the scale than on the amazing/flavorful side of the scale. If this was $5 cheaper, I'd be all in. At the current prices tho, I don't think I'll be back. Sorry pho Ever
google avatar

Diana B.

Yelp
The food was bland. The veggie egg rolls were overcooked and mushy in the middle. The tofu bah mi sandwich had zero flavor. The passion fruit juice was really good. The service was horrible. The servers were not attentive. Each plate of food was brought to the table 10-20 after another. The ambiance was nice. I sat at a private booth. I will not be going back because of the food and service.
google avatar

Angela P.

Yelp
The pho broth is way too sweet!!! Not much Pho flavor though, but employees were nice and friendly. For fried tofu, they coated sugar outside and it was too sweet as well.
google avatar

Kevin C.

Yelp
Ngl went out of my way to go back after work cause i like the food and came fully prepared to sip broth out of a tiny plastic spoon, but now they're doing take-out only... FFS... Good Bye Phoever! My years of recommending you is over.. I'll spend my energy to undo my recommendations when conversations about pho emerge. When shit hits the fan, as an owner do the serving and dishwashing if you have to to keep the lights on. Your business lost all it's authenticity with your to-go containers and signs. P.S. You guys started asking "How spicy would you like your pho"? smh ‍
google avatar

Nic N.

Yelp
BOMB.COM is all I need to say. Pho Ever Pho never misses on cold days or when I'm under the weather! I always get the shrimp. Highly Recommend.

Brittney J.

Yelp
I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant; everything ordered from the fried tofu, veggie egg rolls, chicken fried rice, and chicken pho was on point, PACKED with flavor, and did not disappoint (even the water was good! I'm picky with water, don't like water from the tap). The staff were friendly and attentive, and all in all, I would highly recommend. Think I may have found a new go to spot and can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Jeanette E.

Yelp
Don't get me wrong I love Phoever but I came in close to 7 to eat with my daughters just to be told they were closed already but I could do take out. All signs show they close at 8 ... I was prepared to leave since another table was just getting their food but my little girls really wanted to eat this so we ordered to go. I feel like they've lost that good customer service that they had before. My family has come here for years but seems like customer service will cause them to lose some people

James W.

Yelp
Came in during the week and the place was almost empty. Ordered pho and waited over 30 minutes. No one said a word the entire time until i finally asked. They probably didn't start it. The food was ok, terrible service
google avatar

Kyong R.

Yelp
My pho noodles were all chopped up and the soup tasted like soap. Average service but the restaurant looks little nicer than average.
google avatar

Ashley J.

Yelp
Not that happy with our meal on Thursday night (Sept 30th for management/chef's reference.) Going there close to closing was possibly part of the issue but we frequent this place quite a bit (as you can gather from my reviews) and this time it was off. - Too much oil in both bowls - Brisket pho broth was thick, very peanuty tasting - I didn't realize beef noodle bowl is thick noodles (perhaps this can be indicated on theenu as it's under the pho section. It wasn't bad however. Upon inquiring was told you can ask for the vermicelli noodles if you prefer.
google avatar

Olufunso O.

Yelp
This for me is that late night spot especially when everything else is closed. I haven't been during the day. But I love the fact that they stay open really late. Given the time of the day I can excuse that the service is slow. The 3 times I've been there it took forever to have our order taken. When we did finally order they brought the food out fairly quick. The pho is good. But I've stuck with the fried rice 2 of the 3 times I went. That is always really good. It's a great place to go if you are up late or out late and need late night food.

Yelp
If not driving slow, you can easily miss this restaurant due to a single entry path used as an entrance and exit. The access is blocked by a cone that divides the adjacent property. I had to make a sharp turn in to drive in the parking lot. I have never encountered a restaurant with such difficulty entering the parking lot. After speaking with the restaurant owner about the parking situation, I learned that the landlord is a scrooge and unwilling to make repairs and improvements. This reluctance is tragic because small businesses thrive when the improved buildings look presentable and well maintained. I hope the local businesses in the plaza get together and take action against the autocratic landlord--just my two cents. What I ordered: LUNCH SPECIAL (Pho Tai, One Egg Roll, and Unsweetened Iced Tea) All that under $12. What a fantastic deal! I enjoyed the pho here. The broth tasted great, and they did not skimp out on the beef. The egg roll wasn't bad either. BRAISED BEEF BRISKET BANH MI (French Baguette, Pickled Carrots, Daikon, Cilantro, Jalapeño, and served with a side of au jus) - This sandwich was SUPERB. Of all the Banh Mi's I have tried, this is ranked Top 3 in my ranking. Typically, I have trouble eating baguettes due to their hardness. But the baguette here was soft. The Brisket was smooth and tasty as well. What sets this Banh Mi apart from others is the DIPPING SAUCE. Imagine a fusion between French Dip and Banh Mi.

Yelp
I had been craving a pork banh mi and stumbled upon pho ever in Gardena! It satisfied my craving but I still feel it was missing something. Maybe it was the bread that lacked a crisp or the meat, which was flavorful but a little too chewy for my liking. I also got a Thai tea, which was great. How can you mess up a Thai tea?! The staff was helpful but the restaurant could use a deep clean. Overall, food was decent.

Yelp
Among the best Phô in Gardena. I love the Avocado Smoothie. Fast service and nice atmosphere. A gem in Gardena.

Yelp
Came in at 6:53 pm They said it's only take out because kitchen would close at 7:10 but closing time on door says 8:00 pm. First time here but chose to leave. Will not come back
