Google
Delicious Phó. The broth has a deep rich taste. The servers though at times a bit of a language barrier are extra friendly and attentive. Priced under the value and sized portioned you are served. Highly recommend this spot.

Paul “PJ” Castellanos

Google
Ordered the combination pho bowl that came with filet mignon meat, tripe, meatballs, brisket and flank. Broth had a decent flavor, not the best but very flavorful for the price. Service was great from the staff and served us quick. Very good and would probably come again.

Google
food was soo good. I put hosin sauce in my broth but it was actually way better without it. The broth comes out nice Very flavorful. There is a bit of a language barrier but they were very sweet, helpful, accommodating, and super quick. My partner downed all of his broth and I down all of the noodles haha The egg rolls were not my fav on the planet but were still delicious Hoping to try a rice dish next time.!

Google
Lost in years 1915? We went on Mother’s Day and No Fail !! YUMMY 😋 Beef Stew #12 with French Bread 🥖 #42 Plate was Excellent +Veggie Egg Rolls with Peanut 🥜 Sauce… Aroma of PH0 was outstanding in the air!

Google
The XL size pho (beef noodle) is really big with a very reasonable price. Their egg rolls and spring rolls are good. However, it is quite hard to find a car park in this plaza. Very inconvenient!

Google
This is always my go to place for hearty pho in hot broth. Reasonable prices and huge portions. The best part is the food is very good w no MSG added. The restaurant has been here for many years so it could use some interior improvements, but that’s not going to happen. So keep your focus on the food and pretend you’ve traveled overseas for this pho. They frequently leave the doors open between 2-4pm and the flies storms in for happy hours.

Nice food with reasonable price and so many customers

Google
Great little place with a seating capacity of 49. Parking lot is often full with a maximum of 15 cars or 10! Closed Tuesdays. Great quality, and taste. They were featured as a top 10 in pho restaurant in the Los Angeles area.

Yelp
Great tasting bbq pork The rice is awesome, nice n tasty See you again n again ! Great place to come in and get a great lunch in El Monte !

Yelp
When to this place on weekend with my family. They open at 8:30am was there before 9am. There was 3-4 customer dining in. As we walking to our talk to be seated, there's lot of trash on floor. Don't they sweeps after they closed or sweeps the trash before they open? Maybe that's why they got "B" rating from public health department. They have their door open and people's outside next to door smoking too. Food was okay, it's not like before. Maybe new owner.

Alexander C.

Yelp
This place may be called a "Pho" restaurant but we really came here for the broken rice ("Com tam") plates. We ordered a couple of different rice plates, but pictured are two popular choices: 1. Com Dac Biet: this is the special plate that basically comes with a little of everything. It includes shredded pork ("Bi"), the tofu skin shrimp ("ta hu ky"), Chinese sausage, and egg/meatloaf ("cha"). All items were prepared well and portion sizes were generous and made for a satisfying meal! 2. Com Suon: pork chop ("suon") over rice. The portion size for the plate was amazing. They give you two large chops, which you can really share with two people or save one for lunch the next day. Other items we ordered (but not pictured): 1. Pho Dac Biet: very large bowl of pho. Broth was tasty and amount of noodles and meat (brisket, beef slices, tripe, tendons) were plentiful 2. Pho Bo Kho: an equally generous sized bowl! Plenty of beef chunks and tendons. The only small negative could be the "oily-ness" of the broth. That could be a turn off for some. Service: great service from the staff. They're very efficient and responsive. Food came out very fast. Even faster had we all just ordered Pho, but since we had rice plates that required some dish preparation, that took a few minutes longer. Parking: this restaurant is located on a corner, in a very small strip mall where there's two other businesses next to each other. The parking is limited and can be a little crowded. But fortunately, this is near a neighborhood where you can find street parking as long as you're willing to drive walk a little. So overall, this is a GREAT place to grab a bite if you are in El Monte. It's so much more than a Pho restaurant. Try out the rice plates...you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Ordering the Pho beef special and beef balls, I think the meats were cooked too well done... a little more chewy... ice tea was so great that having a strong jasmine flowers favorite!!! Services were just all right, the environment is ok clean .... I would recommend the spring rolls and other dishes rather than beef phos dishes!!

Rachel C.

Yelp
The best authentic Vietnamese food in the area. They speak English, Cantonese, mandarin and Vietnamese. Parking lot is small but adequate. Hole in the wall place but food is absolutely delicious. Price not bad as well. Star of the nice was the grilled pork chop. Don't come expecting fancy interior. Bathroom is outside in another hallway

Wayne G.

Yelp
Came here for dinner recently with a group of 4. We ordered Pho Dac Biet among other things. The Pho Dac Biet was the only thing I tried so I'll only comment on that. Ordered the XL size, lots of meat and noodles. They fill the soup/broth all the way to the top of the bowl, submerging everything. So don't be fooled by the pictures. There's lots of ingredients underneath. Only thing is, the soup was just slightly hotter than warm. It wasn't piping hot like I'm used to at all the other places I've been to. So a little disappointing there. Complimentary iced/hot water or iced/hot tea. The tea was very strong and floral. I loved it. Water tasted like filtered water. Free parking in parking lot or street parking. Good service. They speak Vietnamese and English.

Lauren C.

Yelp
I've been to so many hole in the wall gems in the SGV but this is not it...the interior is so filthy - small splatters on the booths, sticky floor, gnats, and sticky tables. I don't want to imagine what the kitchen looks like. We ordered the Bun Rieu and Banh Xeo. We were given another vermicelli dish by mistake and it was supposed to go to another table. We waved the waitress down to say that it wasn't our dish and we ordered the Banh Xeo instead. She didn't seem to believe us and asked the waitress. She then berated the other waitress for making a mistake with the orders... The Bun Rieu did not look appetizing and had a long piece of hair in the soup. The Banh Xeo was almost burnt and super oily. The inside had like 3 shrimps and a small amount of bean sprouts. We decided not to order dessert.

Yelp
Eek! Just realized this past weekend I yelped the wrong location, apparently my review from October 2023 should have been fir the San Gabriel Blvd Pho Filet 2 location! Since they are sister locations, decided to leave my review up.

Kawamura K.

Yelp
Pho broth was delicious. Not too salty or MSG "flavor". Lost 1/2 star, ordered spring roll (3 pcs.) being a little dry and not cut (harder to share with two people). Ordered 33b. Beef bone pho was so good. Meet came off the bone early. 1/2 star lost because the noodle soaked up too much broth... I was wanting to add bean sprouts but the broth disappeared into the noodles 21 small, portion was good. Service was fast and waitresses were friendly. Food came out in record time! Chill vibe. Very hole in the wall. Door stays open cause many customers come in and out. So expect to see a small fly coming in and out. Not the restaurant's fault.

Rob M.

Yelp
Pho is absolutely fantastic, with consistently exceptional service that is always friendly and top-notch.

Joseph T.

Yelp
No frills just good old pho! Honestly their "filet" #14 comes with super soft chunks of meat. With wider pho noodles. I rather stick with the regular versions for some reason. Service was fine. They come and take your order and food comes out relatively quick! Will come back for other dishes next time! So many good things to eat.

Mel A.

Yelp
Update: I was told by fellow Yelpers that this is how traditional pho businesses around the area serve pho for pick up orders. Good to know but I prefer my pho meat cook not raw. I added an extra star since I'm reviewing a small business but this is not for me.

Travis P.

Yelp
This is the definition of a hole in the wall. Dirty floors and mediocre service but really good food. This is my goto for solid pho. They have a strong flavorful broth and quality meals. This place definitely specializes in beef pho so I'd stick with that. I would come here if you want good and quick food. Side note, small pho isn't that small and is totally enough. XL is pretty fat if you're hungry and only like a dollar more. It's mostly just extra noodles and soup though, I think meal portions are about the same.

Meisy K.

Yelp
A regular here for lunch time with my coworkers. The server already knows my go-to order. I get the Pho Tai and it's always good. Flavor is always consistent. May not be the nicest looking Viet restaurant but their pho is good! Place is always busy, but you can find a table most of the time.

Stephanie F.

Yelp
I love this pho place! Services is really good and fast.. there # 17 is so good as well as there filet mignon.. try there citrus lemon tea so yummy. Deff recommend. Parking is a bit crowded but worth it..

Kathrine Anne S.

Yelp
This spot is good if you're sick or can't get out of bed. I don't like ordering my pho for to go, but pho filet is quick when getting it done. It's simple and nothing too crazy about their flavor. The broth is not too sweet nor too salty as well. The quality of the meat is just the same as of here pho places in the area. There's always parking in the lot and in the street side.

Martina T.

Yelp
Free plaza parking available. Ok so not the fanciest place. The floors are greasy and slippery. Service is ok, not friendly, not pissy, just neutral and gets the job done. Hot coffee is served in a styrofoam cup which is a huge turn off. The dessert drinks are ok (Che ba mau, etc). The highlight is the pho. The soup base is the way it should be. Not too oily, perfect taste. Portion size is huge. The pho comes in a large metal bowl, which I love. The meat is not the highest quality but is good, they also give you a generous amount. The pho consistency and texture is good, not too overcooked and mushy. Prices are still extremely reasonable. Food comes out quick. Overall I really enjoyed my pho bowl and would definitely be willing to do the drive out to this spot. They know what it's all about.

Jennifer D.

Yelp
I like their spring rolls, the sauce is so so good. Their pho has lots of meat, nice portion, taste good. Good customer service, friendly staff, clean place.

Infernio C.

Yelp
It's pho. It is what it is. It's good bit crazy an amazing but it's good. The place looks chill and feels nice. Service was cool. I liked the place will be coming back

Elise L.

Yelp
Light broth, tender meat, and a good portion that doesn't leave you parched nor strong-scented after. When I'm craving Pho, I'm craving here :p 5/5 Service is also fast, food arrives 3-4 mins after ordering. Becareful parking since it's a skinny lot!

Karalynn N.

Yelp
Probably one of the best pho places in town! Service was quick and I was served within 5mins. I was crunched on time, so I was in and out in like 15mins! It's a small shop. I got the pho tai, the round eye slice meat. The noodles were the flat thicker noodles. I love this style of pho! The soup was flavorful with the perfect amount of the nuoc beo.

Yelp
Looking for a good pho place, we ventured out of our 10 minute drive radius and found Pho Filet, based on the rec of some foodies around the SGV. The place was fairly busy when we arrived for lunch. Since they had several people working, service was fast and orders were quickly brought out. The menu was extensive, and many items started to look the very similar after a few minutes, so I posted menu photos to save you time there. A place called Pho Filet, I had to order a bowl of pho. (#17, XL of rare steak and we'll done brisket.) I also ask for rare steak on the side so it doesn't overcook in the broth. The portions of raw beef were generous. I found dipping it in the hot broth to cook it slightly and take them out again kept it medium rare and tender. The well done brisket were thinly sliced and lean. XL is huge and satisfying. #66 & #68 were very similar dishes. One came with chicken, the other was steak. Both also were served with shrimp paste and charbroiled meatballs, rice. The steak was very tender and full of flavor. The chicken was a bit on the tougher side, but not too bad. Portions here are big and service was fairly friendly and fast. The pho came out in less than a few minutes. Even though Pho Filet is a bit farther and many other pho joints, it's worth the drive for me. Notes: parking lot can be tight and based on the configuration of the spaces, it may be better to park in the street. It just a few extra steps. They charge an extra 50 cents for credit cards.

Yelp
I was craving viet food & my dad drove to Monterey park for the best area for it. I had their bunbohue (#70) & it was so flavorful & authentic along with their rauma (pennywort drink) & it was the real thing unlike most places that water it down. Food came out super quick in like 5 minutes with no exaggeration- piping hot too. Service was nice as well, I'll definitely be back when around the area.

John ..

Yelp
Doesn't taste good anymore: too much MSG, very poor quality of meat. Service was ok, however employees look depress there, they are not cheerful nor even wanting to acknowledge the guest. Will not come back!!

John L.

Yelp
Came in for a quick early bite after a errand and beat the lunch crowd. Hole in the wall sorta restaurant but has great food. Got the chicken pho and fried summer rolls that was recommended to me and it did not disappoint. I been here many years ago and glad to return to this restaurant and still see it on its feet. Service was good and attentive but can be a zoo in there when lunch rush is going on, so come early. Looking forward to come in again to try their other menu items.

Tattiana R.

Yelp
Place is ok not to clean or nice it's mid outside ambient is ghetto and dirty parking is scarce and hard to get but the food overall is 3/10 I got the #18 and it tasted so gamie and smelled awful like stinky cheese. The broth was ok not the tastiest and I love pho . So overall I will not be coming back . And I did not finish the food either . And my bowl came with a nasty black dirt stuff as seen on pic.

Diana W.

Yelp
Old G local pho shop with limited English and takes credit card. Our favourite order is now #15 Pho XL, #46 Rice Plate, and #124 Pennyworth Drink totalling $35 with tip for a lunch. Old style of customer service which is...if the food is good = don't expect much service. This place is full of regulars who come here and already know what they want. Food is served quick. Expect possible sticky tables. There is a very old dingy restroom shared with employees in the back. You'll have to go outside to their kitchen to find it.

Yelp
I was driving back from my friends place and decided to eat before going home, I found this restaurant that isn't closed at 8 pm like most Vietnamese restaurant, is open until 9 pm. Is easy to find, between Garvey and Rosemead Blvd, behind the gas station. There's a couple of customers eating and I was seated right away. It looks pretty old by looking at the dirty chairs, the ceiling and the walls. But the food is amazing. Of course, I always order the combination pho, spring rolls and Thai tea without the boba. The food came out pretty quickly and omg, the pho has a lot of meat which I like and is only $12.50 for a large size. The Thai tea is pretty tasty too where you can taste the black tea with a little sweetness, not water down or too powdered. The spring rolls was okay, too much rice noodles in it, I think. If you don't eat it right away, the rice noodle wrap gets chewy. I was too busy taking pictures lol is $27.01 plus $7 tips, is pretty good. Is $2.00 less then my favorite pho place by my house but if I drive here, it would be the same price cuz of gas prices lol I would recommend this restaurant, and I would definitely come back when I'm in the area and craving pho

Finn N.

Yelp
Old ladies so mean, she always yelling That not first time I came to this restaurant but she always like that

Ashley J.

Yelp
I'm truly speechless how this place has 4 stars.. I know y'all lying... anyway, it was my first time finally trying this place as it is quite well known. The pho broth is very mediocre. It lacked the essential bone broth and spice flavor. I had the #24 rare steak and tripe and the beef given were so tiny. It didn't seem fresh. Aside from the food, the worst part was the dine-in experience. The cleanliness of the restaurant is nonexistent. I was seated in a 2 person booth and a bunch of gnats were flying around while eating. One even landed in my soup! Lol assumably, I lost my appetite real quick! Everywhere you walk, the floors are super slippery and oily so take precautions. Overall, I was super disappointed and I would definitely not be coming back. There are far better tasting pho restaurants and cleaner too

Gary C.

Yelp
Came here for some pho after a camping trip. Liked it a lot. The pho broth was good, meat portion was generous. Good place!

Macha O.

Yelp
I like to try Hole-in-the-wall Pho restaurants whenever I can and this one definitely did not disappoint. The Pho here is top notch. Service is pretty run-of the mill but that's not really a hangable offense when the food is that good. The vibe of the restaurant is pretty standard as far as Pho places go, which is not a bad thing. Definitely recommend their Pho Dac Biet.

Phong N.

Yelp
It was raining and perfect time to look for a bowl of pho. The soup is devine... the beef marrow taste, the cinnamon and star anise and hint of lemon accompanying perfectly cooked noodles and a huge variety of meats. Perfect, perfect, perfect... 12-15$/ big bowl. Fast, friendly service . Try it out.. I'll be back. Bon appetit.

Ginna S.

Yelp
We were in town for an event and came by this place solely on its proximity to our location and our desire for some warm soup on a cold day. My husband ordered the beef pho and I ordered the shrimp pho. We had an hour to eat and get back to work. We got seated and then served quickly- our order came out within 5-10 minutes. The portion sizes were good and both soups were decent in taste/quality. One star is taken off because the restaurant was a tad dingy and stingy when we asked for a few more limes/onion for our meal.

Bee B.

Yelp
The food is DELISH. Great portions for the price. The items come out hella quick or at least when we went (Friday noon). The service will be as good as any authentic asian restaurant, so don't take it personally. It eventually got crowded towards the afternoon, ambiance is more intimate and family style.

Trrer R.

Yelp
Services was good. Parking kind of hard to find. Not much place to park. Taste and price pretty much like other places

Customer Service E.

Yelp
#39 Their roasted Cornish Hen with Red Fried rice is sooooooo good. They also have the best egg rolls ever, so crispy. It's a small spot and it can get crowded but the food is worth it. They do call in orders as well to save you some time.

Sochivy D.

Yelp
I gotta that note that everything came out really fast and I'm really impressed lol. I got a Vietnamese iced coffee and Bun Bo Hue, and my mom got a rice dish (forgot what). The coffee was perfect--not too sweet, not too bitter. Our entrees were good, definitely above average. Portions are pretty big. Would recommend

Mike L.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to get pho. The broth is delicious. And the serving size is really nice when you get the large bowl. Lots of meat and toppings. They also have beef rib pho or filet mignon pho. Service is fast and quick. And prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. I always order to go as well. And the portions are just as good on the to-go orders. Standard Vietnamese pho ambiance inside.

Vanessa M.

Yelp
Horrible experience with this pho. I love soup a lot & this was just a never again experience. Took some raw steak pho home, felt ok. But the meat smelled off so I decided to take it out of the soup once I realized the smell. Turned out to be the worst night, threw up & had a constant feeling of being nauseous. To make it worse I was vomiting & had diarrhea. Soo disappointed. I'd like a refund for this horrible food poisoning.

Kevin L.

Yelp
(FOOD) I've been coming here for almost a decade and I've noticed some differences. I still get the usual grilled pork chop with the shrimp rice cake. It comes out quick and still tastes the same but I've noticed portion size is a bit smaller and the nuoc mam (fish sauce) is a bit sweeter now and less fishy, which is good. However, I've also noticed the pho soup base is different? My father used to love this place and now he can't say the same anymore. I don't see the original owners so I'm assuming they sold the place to someone else who changed the recipes but kept the Pho Filet name. (SERVICE) It's still good. The staff is pretty responsive. (PLACE) It's a bit dirtier than usual... Before the change of management everything was wiped down and cleaned. Now there are noticeably more stains on tables and walls. (VERDICT) I still really like the food here but its peak is obviously over. I was a regular for the past 10 years and I'm sad to say maybe it's time to look for a new favorite.

Kimmie N.

Yelp
Not sure what the hype is for this location. Took my step mom and step daughter who just got imported from Vietnam a few months ago. Was running errands and they wanted pho for lunch so I came here due to the high reviews. Parking is limited and the lot is shared with other businesses. People will also parallel park along the brick walls so be aware of reversing your vehicle out. Very small restaurant but pretty busy. They don't have AC so it's also very uncomfortable to eat pho as you'll be sweating and they just leave their front doors open so be aware of flies. Their service was typical of an authentic vietnamese restaurant. They were playing soccer on the television so a lot of the staff was just standing there in between customers watching tv. My stepmom tried to flag someone down since we were ready to order and they were rude. After taking another table's order, the waitress came by to take ours but was also talking shit about the table saying how they didn't know how to order and that if they weren't ready then don't order. This was all in vietnamese as I do understand/speak it. I ordered number 17 which is their pho tai chin (rare beef steak with brisket). I always ask for my steak on the side since I don't like my meat overcooked. Food came out within 3 minutes of us placing our order. Their tai steak was frozen and the portion was small. The brisket was dry and overcooked in my broth so I didn't touch much of it. Broth lacked a bit of flavor but at least my noodles were cooked al dente. Don't think i'd return to this location. Their table was also dirty. It was oily and had dried residue of fat on the table so it wasn't even cleaned properly. Can't even enjoy my pho in cold weather cause theres no AC so it was uncomfortable to eat.

Nouchee M.

Yelp
One of the best broth and noodles in SGV! The rare beef in the pho is thick and yummy. Taste like homemade.

Tiffany C.

Yelp
My sister was in the mood for some pho, but wanted to try a new restaurant besides our go-to. I ended up asking my friend for some recommendations and she highly recommended Pho Filet. And after trying this place out for ourselves, wow - we were blown away and I can definitely see why it came with high recommendations. With the current situation, a lot of places have been raising prices and cutting down on costs, which I can totally understand. But the prices of Pho Filet have not changed, and it seems like the quantity and quality have not either. We were stuffed from all of the food and even had extra noodles, meat, and soup for a meal the following day - and this was with just a regular sized order! I recommend calling in your order ahead of time - they prepare all the food super quick, in under 15 minutes. The workers don't speak English too well, but they can speak Cantonese and Vietnamese. Even though there was a language barrier and some confusion over the phone, our order was correct and packaged by the time we arrived. I ordered #15, pho that comes with everything including meatballs. The small size is $8.95 and was more than enough for me. There was a large amount of noodles and so much meat! And the meat was super good quality - I felt like after digging into the bowl of noodles, I still kept unraveling more and more noodles and meat. I especially enjoyed the tendon and the meatball. We also ordered #16 ($7.95 for small) and #17 ($7.95 for small); not sure if the amount of meat differed because some bowls had fewer items, but we all thought the quality and quantity were much better than a lot of the other pho restaurants that we've had. And got an order of #71, grilled beef with vermicelli ($8.50). Came with a huge amount of vermicelli, pickled veggies, fresh veggies, and a good amount of grilled beef. There was a very fragrant and pleasantly grilled smell coming from this dish that made my mouth water. My mom enjoyed it and said she would not hesitate to order this again. The pho dishes came with huge amounts of beef soup that we were able to save (and use for our at-home pho dishes the next day). The flavor wasn't oily, had a deep and rich flavor and did not leave us feeling thirsty after drinking it. Honestly, I feel like this is my new go-to place for pho from now on. They accept card and prices are super affordable for the amount of food (and quality) that you get! There's another location in San Gabriel, but it seems like more people prefer the El Monte location.

Michelle C.

Yelp
Very good service, incredible food as well, i appreciate every server in this restaurant

J S.

Yelp
The chicken curry with bread is delicious here. It tasted almost as good as my mom's curry. The house vermicelli is very good as well. I don't like the fact that the restroom is outside and pretty nasty. The milk tea is not good here, neither are any of the drinks. The cups are super small. The service is okay, but the servers are very nice.

Christina P.

Yelp
Love this spot. Been coming here for a few years now. If your feeling sick the chicken pho is the way to go. What I like about this spot is the pho always taste so homemade and hot. It's delicious and feels healthy after eating it. The egg rolls are superb and the fried calamari is good too. Sometimes you have to order early because they run out of chicken. It's not the processed chicken or beef either. It's always fresh.

Cecilia H.

Yelp
Upon entering the establishment, this place does not look clean. Weirdly enough, this spot got an A from the health department. The workers don't wear masks or gloves and I saw her sneeze in open air with a bowl in her hands and just continued to work. The chairs and tables look old, outdated, and not clean. It's also located in a kinda sketch place in town. With all that being said, the food is great. I give the food a 10/10. The broth is great and doesn't leave you feeling thirsty afterwards. The water they serve you is surprisingly not tap water too. Spring rolls were top notch. The rice plates looked good and I do want to try them since it is my fave Vietnamese dish. The portions are huge and the prices are great. It cost about $30 for spring rolls and two bowls of pho-Unheard of these days. Service and ambiance are terrible so don't come expecting some great service because you'll get none. You stay for the food and that's it. You go up to the cashier and pay for your food afterwards. Bring cash if you don't want them to charge you an extra 50 cents for using card.

Jennifer R.

Yelp
I try not to judge a book by its cover. The parking lot is not only small, but people park however they like. The restaurant in quaint, but not homey. We seated ourselves and the booth we chose was wet from broth. We promptly cleaned it up and decided whatever its fine. It took a while to flag someone down to order food. We fought flies.... which... to me is indicative of.... trash not tossed or filth somewhere. The floors are dirty from broth drippings. We got pho, egg rolls, and nem-rolls. Well. The water tasted filtered. The pho broth was a bit mediocre... I have had better. The ribs were tasty and meaty. The eggrolls were very greasy and in the inside under cooked. However, sure, was okay to eat. The nem-roll was...disgraceful. The rice paper looked substandard, the lettuce was questionable and tasted very fishy.... the pork tasted old. Not good eats in my opinion. I feel there is better out there. Would I try it again? Maybe. I would get the pho to try once more. Am I rushing to go back....no.

Yelp
I really really wanted to like this place because so many people have recommended it. And I don't want to put down a local business, but I had to make a fair comparison to other locally owned pho spots in the SGV area. I ordered the #16 and it looked really good when brought to the table. But something was a little bit off about the broth. I can't put my finger on it cause it's not really savory nor is it that clean almost herbal flavor. "Murky" is the best way for me to describe it. The meats were all over cooked and dry. The noodles were good though. Overall it just tasted kind of unremarkable. Also ordered the egg rolls and they were okay. On the heavier side. The Thai iced tea was good though! The ambience is definitely old with blue-cast luminescent lighting overhead, so not a vibe if you want something more "aesthetic." But I didn't really care about that since some of the best food spots aren't necessarily the prettiest. But idk both the food and the ambience were disappointing, so the run down aesthetic just amplified the not-that-great food. Also, our server wasn't wearing a mask when serving us. I'm writing this review from my visit last week, so the relaxing of mask mandates wasn't even a thing yet. And it wouldn't even apply here since relaxing the mandate requires checking vaccine statuses, which was not applicable at this restaurant. Overall was pretty disappointed and not sure what all the hype was about.
