New Bay Area Restaurants: Bandit, Maker of San Francisco’s Best Breakfast Sandwiches, Opens Dogpatch Restaurant | Eater SF

"I noted Pho Ha Noi opened at 185 University Avenue on May 25, and owner Helen Nguyen has been surprised by the popularity of her beef pho as the shop prepares to expand to Milpitas and Fremont next year." - Lauren Saria

Elbo Room, One of Oakland’s Favorite Jack London Square Bars, Is Closing | Eater SF

"In Palo Alto, Pho Ha Noi is taking over the lease at 185 University Avenue, marking the popular Northern-style pho restaurant's first expansion outside the South Bay; this announcement also clears up earlier confusion about the space, where a green Wahlburger's sign remained and customers had reported intermittent takeout availability even as the location appeared closed." - Paolo Bicchieri

Google
Our server was rude, didn't like us asking questions. My guests have never experienced Pho and needed help ordering. She seemed irritated and never checked back on food. Never asked if I wanted another beer. When we asked for the check she informed us about a automatic 18% tip. I usually tip more, but but her attitude was unprofessional. Never going back again!

Google
Came here for a quick dinner. Service was great, $20 is a little steep for pho but they give you pretty sizable portions of meet. They are also very clear about the added 18% gratuity. Broth was good but a tad on the salty side. Overall would go again if craving pho.

As visitors from Florida, we’ve been exploring different dining spots in Palo Alto, and while many places offer delicious food, the service hasn’t always matched up—until we found this gem! From the moment we walked in, it was clear this restaurant prioritizes its guests. The standout? July, who provided impeccable service. She didn’t just take care of us but ensured everyone, including those picking up takeout, was treated with the same attention and warmth. Her dedication and friendliness made the experience even more special. The waiting time was surprisingly short—less than 10 minutes—even during what seemed like a busy time. The restaurant’s family-friendly vibe was perfect for us, and the staff made us feel completely at home. As for the food, it was excellent! The portions were generous, and the flavors were spot on, all at an affordable price point. The 18% gratuity was more than fair for the quality of service we received, though the team certainly deserved more for their exceptional care. We left with full stomachs and happy hearts, already planning to return on our next trip to Palo Alto. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere—especially families! Well done to the team here!

Google
A very satisfying place to get pho! It was a big place so easy to get a seat. And service was quick, so we were able to quickly order. The food came even quicker and it was really tasty. The soup and the beef and the noodles were all good. And then we got a sweat treat to finish it off. Overall I like the pho!

Google
We order a bowl of special pho and sticky rice with fried chicken. Pho is amazing with tasteful broth. Sticky rice is a littble greasy for me, but it’s really chewy and delicious and fried chicken is also really flavorful.

Google
Food and experience is super nice, if you visit the place at the right time. I love pho and bun cha from this restaurant, but the service quality may vary depending on how much they are busy at the time. Once was really bad, normally quite good.

Shayne F.

Google
This place is going to do great. Killer location near the university, right where walburgers was. Reasonably affordable for Palo Alto if you turn your head sideways with hearty portions that should be for two. I had a kids pho (11$) instead of the full size (19$) and that was more than enough. Prices are for may 2025, so if this is wildly off, blame who you like.

Google
Pho Ha Noi is excellent when it comes to their pho. The broth is full of flavor. The pho noodles are silky smooth and appropriate for the bowl of soup and the meat is tasty. The spring rolls I had were fresh and although they tend to stick together, that is a by product of the rice paper and not anything they did wrong. I ordered their special this time, the pork belly fried rice. Unfortunately this dish in particular is probably best to pass on. The fried rice was fine, the pork belly itself however was not a great experience. It was a large piece of meat that was dry and tough making it hard to chew and no flavor at all. I would recommend pho over this dish any day.

Yelp
My favorite pho place! Broth is rich and flavorful, the ambiance is open and airy with beautiful murals, and the service is efficient and friendly.

Yelp
This is my one of my favorite spots in downtown Palo Alto. The service is always great. Special shoutout to July for always being so inviting and sweet! We went on a busy Friday night and got seated quickly. My favorite item is the P1 combination beef pho. I would argue that it's better than homemade. I've taken my friends and family to this location and have had a great experience every time.

Yelp
Amazing food and great service! I love the combo pho in particular (check out the egg noodles!). And! Service is great -- hooray for Julie!

Yelp
came on a weekday & we were able to be seated right away. huge restaurant that can fit many guests at once & lots of booth seating. server came quickly to take our orders however once we received food, the service thereafter was only provided when requested for water refills & the check took quite some time to come until prompted. food itself was great. garlic noodles were very favorable & a hefty portion size! steak was also very tender & it was nice to have a small side salad & tomatoes as well as a heather addition to a meal with a good amount of sodium. my friend got the dish from the special menu which was a great price (less than $14), and the pork that came with the dish was nice & juicy! really enjoyed the free rice pudding deserts that came with the meal & overall would recommend this place to others.

Yelp
I had a nice dinner here with some friends, the food is really good but the service is a little lacking. The first time someone came to take our order we weren't ready yet so he said he would come back, and we had to wait like 20 minutes for him to come back. Before we placed our order a lady came by and gave us small cups of free dessert, which was nice but I'm not sure why they did it before we had gotten any food. Later we tried to get a waiter's attention so we could ask about the ingredients in the dessert since I'm vegan, but everyone was too busy to help and we weren't able to get someone to stop by before I had to leave to catch the bus. Moving on to the food, they had 2 labelled vegan options- veggie pho and a mushroom claypot rice. I got the rice, which was really really good, it came with tofu, mushrooms, broccoli, and carrots, and was super flavorful. I was expecting the rice to be crispy on the bottom and it was not- still delicious but I feel like it would have been even better if it had been crispy. The portion size was the perfect amount for a meal, however given the price ($18.5) I would have expected more food. My friends both got the featured pho dish on the menu and seemed to really enjoy it. The interior of the restaurant is very spacious and is really well decorated and feels high end. Overall I would give 5/5 for food quality alone but it's a little pricey and service could be improved.

Yelp
Love love love!! ASIDE FROM BEST PHO, i really wanna recommend another chicken dish Grilled S4. Roasted Kui Fei Chicken with Sticky Rice! Chicken is very flavory and not dry. It also gets that crispy skin!! Sticky rice gets a little coconut flavor? I am not sure but it is very unique. I love it and I be never had something like this before. Def try this if you do not mind the sticky texture Mongo smoothie is also my favorite!! Price is very reasonable in Palo Alto downtown prime location

Yelp
Food: I got the chicken wings and the pork/spring roll vermicelli noodles. The noodles were part of a current promotion, so they were only $14. The portion size was really large, but the pork was dry and honestly didn't have too much lemongrass/vietnamese seasoning flavoring. The chicken wings were the real winner. The skin was super crispy and thin, the sauce was yummy and the meat was really moist. Service: I expected poor service due to the other reviews on yelp, but I actually found it to be pretty decent. Our orders were taken really quickly. We were checked on by multiple servers. Our waters were refilled and our food came out really quickly.

Yelp
Today was my first visit to Pho Ha Noi. Walking into the restaurant, there are silk flowers all around the restaurant and they look lovely because arrangements are eye catching and the flowers don't look dusty like they could be at other places. We did not have to wait long because the wait staff were able to accommodate us quickly without having to wait longer than 5 minutes. I ordered pho tai with a side of tendons. The broth was rich and complex which made it super delicious. The rare steak was perfectly cooked inside of the broth but the steak was super special because it was tenderized and easy to chew and subtly flavored. The tendon was one of the best prepared tendons that I ever had in my life! I'm so excited to try more dishes next time.

Yelp
I've been coming here at least once or twice a month ever since it opened. The food is reliably fresh, delicious, and served relatively quickly even if it's a busy time. The service is to the point and consistent. I will do a special call out to July. She recognized me and my boyfriend every time, and always makes an effort to say hello and ask us how our meal was. It's those little touches (and the food) that keep us coming back as regulars. The ambiance of the restaurant depends on where you sit. The bar and the 2-4 seater tables towards the bathroom are a little quieter, and the 4+ seater tables towards the front of the restaurant is a little louder. I like the festive decorations and the restaurant is always kept clean and tidy. I've ordered so many things from this restaurant. My go to is P2 (rare beef flank pho with fresh noodles) and the Hanoi rolls. I also enjoy the Vietnamese sizzling steak when I want some red meat. The egg coffee is strong and sweet, and I also like the lemon soda and passion fruit soda

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday night with a friend and there was no wait at all. We ordered and the food came out almost immediately. The pho was delicious, the broth was flavorful, the noodles were perfectly cooked, and they were generous with the meat. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, and the interior was clean and nicely decorated. Highly recommend if you're in Palo Alto and craving Vietnamese food!

Yelp
First time visit after wandering downtown Palo Alto, and was captivated by some unique menu items and large, clean dining space a long with wait staff in traditional Vietnamese garments. We ordered the.. egg roll combo (4/5) - the peanut sauce was phenomenal and the shrimp roll had a nice fresh flavor. But the crispy wrapped in the sausage one was pretty stale, and the grilled roll could have more flavor, the pho w/ flap and brisket(5/5) -rich broth, meat served rare, plenty of meat to balance the fresh noodle...perfect dish, and the shaking beef with noodles(4/5) - great flavor with both parts, but the sauce was really heavy and overpowering, especially because both elements were a bit too sweet. While the service was pretty on par with what I expect from an average vietnamese restaurant, I expected more from a place that tries to carry itself as an elevated Vietnamese dining experience. Cups left empty, empty plates left on table, and yet they auto charge at 18% top that was difficulty to justify. With that being said, high quality food that will be worth going to, but I just wish the service was equally on par. But at least they gave a free taro tapioca pudding?

Yelp
I've been here a few times already and I think overall I feel like this place is okay. It's a bit expensive, food flavor is okay, service can be a bit mediocre, and they automatically add 18% gratuity regardless of party size. I went back today and got the bun bo hue (spicy soup). The meat was short rib with two giant bones. I was really hoping for the meat to be super tender but it just would not come off the bone. I had to ask for a pair of scissors to cut the meat which I've never had to ask for in any restaurant ever. The meat itself was not very tasty and had a lot of cartilage. My noodles were also severely undercooked and quite hard. I actually asked for another bowl and I never ask restaurants to remake food. The second bowl was a little better (noodles still slightly too hard but better than the first bowl). The meat didn't have the bones the second time but I still didn't find it easy to tear the meat into manageable chunks. I had to use scissors again to cut the meat. Some of the pieces were better but overall there was still a lot of cartilage. The soup itself was okay. It was a little spicy but still a bit too bland for my liking. They also had way too many scallions in the soup (seems like that's what they do here) - I had to scoop some out, otherwise every spoonful was just scallions. The service here can be pretty mediocre despite (or because?) automatically adding 18% tip. They weren't really attentive and I let having to get up and flag staff down for things like water, a new set of utensils with the second bowl, etc. Towards the end they did eventually start proactively coming around though. Overall I just think this place is okay.

Yelp
The pho here hits alot different form other pho restaurants. The meat is soft tender and not too chewy. The standard steak is normally flooded and this is more float better quality meat. They don't sue siracha for shaves but however they use a unique kind that is spicy yet has a good flavor. This is my favorite pho spot here in Palo Alto and there are other locations in sj/milpitas. I'm glad they brought Vietnamese culture to downtown Palo Alto. Not to mention they're very quick with their service!

Yelp
My family had a hankering for Pho and wanted to try a new place. Pho Ha Noi had always been on the list of places to try so we decided to give it a go since they now had one closer to us in Palo Alto. We decided to go at 5pm exactly when they opened, and we are glad we did. There were already quite a few groups waiting to be seated. This location is easy to get to with plenty of street parking in the area along with parking garages. Upon arrival, we were seated promptly. We did not have to place our name on the waitlist. Their menu has a wide array of options that include appetizers, beef and chicken pho options, along with rice plates. They also have a pretty good drink menu with options for everyone. We ended up ordering the following: -Salt & Pepper Tofu -Special Combination Pho -Rare USDA Choice Flap Meat & Flank Pho -Kids Bowl - Well Done -All with fresh noodles. The most amazing and remarkable thing during our experience is that the time from when we ordered to when our food arrived at our table was less than 1 minute! Food was piping hot and so fresh! It was as if the flash took our order, prepared it, and brought it to our table. Even my 5 year old son was amazed and commented "wow, that was soooo fast!". LOL. The food was amazing. The broth was full of flavor and paired well with the fresh noodles. The meat was tender and the portions are very generous, even for my son's kids bowl. The tofu was crispy and seasoned just right. Our server, July, did an amazing job checking on us throughout our meal and refilling our waters to ensure they never got low. Overall, we had a very good first experience here and we look forward to coming back and hopefully trying their oxtail pho and other items that looked delicious on their menu. Definitely give them a try if you are in the area.

Yelp
Came with 5 friends on a Monday at 6pm. Plenty of seats. The place is spacious and nicely decorated. Waitress in traditional clothing is a nice touch. But how about the men? I ordered the 1/2 roasted chicken, fried egg & crispy sticky rice with Cane juice. The rice turned out to be too tough for me to eat but the chicken was excellent. I would recommend this place for future dining.

Yelp
One of my friends loves this place (he said he used to go once a week). Came here after playing pickleball and the food definitely hit the spot! I got the P1 pho with wide (fresh) noodles -- per recommendations from my friend who was a regular. The noodles were so good! They carried the flavor of the soup well and had good chew. I like the richness of broth. I liked the dipping sauces that come with it, adds a nice kick! They're very popular at lunch time, and the servers seemed very busy. Regardless, the service was attentive! The inside has a lot of flowers for decoration and has a nice vibe as a result. Overall very good experience and will get food here after future pickleball sessions.

Yelp
all you need to hear: this location has been modified for the western palate. they even dress in ao dai (à la Yank Sing). the end. Yelp lost my review because they needed me to be verified? here's my run-on review: broth has no depth, bun bo hue (albeit not their specialty) has no depth, seemed like broth + small scoop of BBH paste, AND FERMENTED SHRIMP PASTE DOES NOT EXIST IN THE BUILDING, CALLING FOR FERMENTED SHRIMP PASTE!!! no bean sprouts or herbs for the pho, we were left in a corner and forgotten about, no knife for the giant short rib sitting in hot soup, the hand written list is not always used, so check in with a host (hopefully one that is better trained).

Yelp
Stop by in Palo Alto and found this place so glad I did cause this place is legit their beef stew was so good n their combination Pho was delicious service hostess wore a Vietnamese gown made me felt like I was in Dang Nang Vietnam! Definitely will come for more when I m in Palo Alto

Yelp
Finally got to try Pho Ha Noi after seeing plenty of posts about it online. When I arrived, the staff was super friendly and was lucky to snag a table during a busy dinner rush without having to wait. I tried the Combination Beef Pho and it did not disappoint. The portion was huge for the price with generous amounts of beef. The broth was also super flavorful and savory - it was great even before the jalapeños and mint. The pho came out super quick and the restaurant itself was spacious with plenty of seating. I would be back if I am in the area again and would love to try some of their rice dishes!

Yelp
I really like this place! Greatly location, beautiful, roomy, bright and clean interior, coupled with excellent food and great service!!! We orders the Rib Bone Pho and Chicken Pho and both dishes are excellent!!! Very happy with our meal here. Thank you!

Yelp
tl;dr get the house made noodles. They automatically include 18% gratuity Super spacious indoors with plenty of seating. P1: combination beef pho. Comes with your choice of thin or Housemade thick noodles. I would recommend the housemade noodles. Substantial portion size and comes with a generous portion of meat nice overall flavors. You can also request bean sprouts to be brought to your table, but I wish that they did this by default as we didn't know until we were almost done. S16: grilled pork and egg roll bun. One of the better vermicelli noodles I've had! Wonderful flavors of the meat and sauce. Overall, a solid Vietnamese restaurant that would happily return to!

Yelp
Came on a Thursday evening, and although the restaurant was busy, we were able to be seated right away. The staff was friendly, and we loved the way the restaurant was decorated. The waitresses/waiters had traditional clothing on, which was just really cool and unique to this restaurant, and we felt highlighting the beauty of not only the food but our Vietnamese culture. They served Northern style pho which I personally love the wider rice noodles. The meat was a perfect texture, and the soup was delicious. My friend got their crispy rice and chicken, and I loved the rice, it is definitely more crispy that the traditional. I also got the hot lemonade, and it literally tasted like my mom made it, and it had fresh ginger pieces. My friend got their egg coffee and the egg, I was definitely hesitant to try, but to my surprise it tasted like the salted cream that you can get Happy Lemon.

Yelp
I finally tried Pho Hanoi in PA last weekend and loved it! The space is so pretty and spacious. They also get you in & out super quick. (I'm pretty sure our order only took 5-7mins to come out after ordering lol). We went on a Saturday around 12pm and there was no wait. I ordered P4. Rare Steak, Brisket and Flank Pho and my husband ordered P2. Rare Steak Pho, and we also got an ube Vietnamese coffee to share. The pho broth here is TOO GOOD!! It's so rich and beefy in flavor, we both finished our broth and noodles. I like that we also had the option to choose between the thin or thick noodles (thiccc noodles always). They give a lot of green onions in the pho which we both appreciated, but the herb plate is pretty small imo (maybe bc it's Northern style pho? that's what my FIL says anyways lol). The ube coffee was super strong and legit--glad it came with lots of ice to melt in bc it was definitely on the thicker side. I liked it but want to try the egg coffee next time! Pho Hanoi is a little on the expensive side for pho (pho ranges from $18-20 eeep) but it's worth it every once in a while imo!

Yelp
Located downtown Palo Alto, so good luck getting parking. Inside is spacious and clean. The utensils are nice and clean, napkins that come are thick. Good size bathroom (rare for pho to have more than single occ). Vegetable sides are clean and not low quality looking. No bean sprouts unless by request due to their style. Got the ox tail and flap meat bowl with their fresh noodles. Broth is not overly flavorful (salty) but more subtle with the beef and onion flavor (lots of onions wow) coming through. Meat is USDA choice so it's actually tender compared to other places with quite lean meat. Ox tail was mixed-- some fell off the bone but other pieces had to gnaw off. The meat is good on its own though, I found myself using less of the hoisin/sriracha sauce than other places. Service is just okay. They are all dressed well and kind, but it can be difficult to track anyone down for bill or additional anything. I thought maybe I had to pay up front after waiting but turns out the bill comes to you. 18% gratuity added (forced)on top of $17-20 bowl. I understand the price because of the higher meat quality, cleanliness, and fresh noodles made in house, but the 18% forced is kinda lame. Anyway, pretty solid and can taste the quality. Some might find the broth a little too subtle, but it is still very enjoyable.

Yelp
Came here for a friends birthday and I always saw this place pop up on my social media so I was excited to try it out! The pho was okay, maybe a little lack luster since this place had been hyped up so much on Instagram. Their Thai tea was really delicious!! I loveee Thai tea so I'm glad they had it on their drinks menu! The service was not that good, we got sat next to the restrooms so maybe we were just in a forgotten space but we attempted to call servers over for more napkins, water refills and the check. There's also a service fee added to the bill which is stated at the bottom of the menu. I didn't see a min or max for how many people but when I went, we were a party of 4 and the service charge was added! It wasn't an issue at all but good thing to keep in mind! The ambiance was cool! It was really nice inside and the music I heard playing was Latin inspired so it was really fun picking out which songs we knew etc. it's nicely decorated inside and it's actually really big restaurant, I remember the building being occupied by wahlburgers and I don't remember it being so big inside! I probably wouldn't come back but I'm glad I got to experience pho Ha Noi finally :)

Yelp
7.5/10 My go to pho. I frequent this location due to the menu variety and convenient location (to home, parking is hard). It's also one of the few pho locations with wide (fresh) noodles. I've been to Pho Ha Noi many times since it has opened. Sadly the restaurant did start with a cheaper menu and larger portions but gradually decided cut down their own spending at expense of the customers paying more. There is a mandatory 18% tip for any dine in now, so we try to get takeout when we can. All the beef noodle pho are similar and pretty customizable, but I like to get the flap and boneless rib meat pho (p9). My family also enjoys sharing the roasted kui fei chicken with sticky rice or tomato rice, as well as the appetizer rolls. I've noticed the food is never consistent, especially the soup. My friends have complained the soups have either been too salty or too diluted. Today it was slightly more peppery than usual, but it still satisfies my occasional cravings. As for the peanut sauce that comes with the rolls, today there was rarely any peanut flavor in there. I also tried the grilled pork once and it was so dry I had to pack it up to go. * I'm not sure what they put in their sticky rice, but it's crack: maybe it's the fried onion pieces or the spices they used but there's such a nice texture and aroma to it, I even like to eat it by itself. Regardless of the quality or consistency, this will still be my go to place for pho, definitely recommend

Yelp
The restaurant is spacious and welcoming. And the portions were so big. This is the first time I've had pho where it felt difficult to find noodles to dish out. I kept finding more pieces of beef. Such a good deal and very hearty meal. The vermicelli bowl had great flavor and the pork was very well grilled.
google avatar

Renee L.

Yelp
I came here to say with friends in two different occasions. I got the short rib pho and the S9 which also had the short rib. The pho broth was less flavorful than some previous pho places I've encountered. Overall though still a great spot and they give you a large portion. For the pho the also don't include any been sprouts which is different than other places. The S9 broth was more flavorful has had some spice. Both were great and I would order them again. The service can be good depending on where you're seated. When it comes to getting your check you may need to signal to some of the workers to go to your table. There is lots of seating and can be busy during dinner hours.

Yelp
The service was quick. I found the pho broth in the San Jose branch tasted better and less watered down. The garlic noodle tasted too sweet and they sprinkled cheese on top, and made it even worse. :(

Yelp
Pho Ha Noi I've been at Stanford Hospital since 12/29/24 due to my husband's situation. Family members who have been visiting us have been bringing me various kinds of food to help keep me going. Recently, my sister-in-law brought me a dish from Pho Ha Noi, and though I don't know what it's called, I can confidently say it was absolutely delicious! The flavors were fresh, comforting, and exactly what I needed during such a difficult time. It really brightened my day and gave me a sense of home. If their other dishes are anything like this one, I can only imagine how amazing they must be. Thank you, Pho Ha Noi, for providing such tasty food--I'll definitely try to visit your restaurant when I have the chance!

Yelp
Hands down my favorite pho spot! Interior is spacious and all the servers are kind, hospitable, quick & efficient. I'm not the biggest fan of fresh noodles (which a lot of pho places I've been to in the Bay Area seem to have), so I love that you can choose between fresh, regular, and egg noodles for your pho. Serving portions for pho bowls are huge but you never feel like they skimp on noodles or meat. On another note, the garlic & fish sauce wings are my favorite appetizer on the menu so far - perfectly crunchy and well seasoned. The spring rolls are great as wells The Vietnamese coffees are also really good for a strong pick me up. Will definitely return especially during these colder months!

Yelp
It's been a while since I've eaten at this location. We went here when they first opened up, didn't bother leaving a review since they were still figuring things out. So... today we stopped by for lunch since we were in the mood for pho. Was feeling under the weather so figured some good hot soup would make me feel better. Well it worked. After ordering the pho came out right away. Restaurant wasn't too busy so it was about a 5 minute wait time. Bowls arrived with a generous amount of the usual sides. Jalapeño, basil leaves, sprouts, lime, sriracha , and hoisin. Pho hit the spot and would definitely eat here again.

Yelp
Pho Ha Noi is a great Vietnamese spot in downtown Palo Alto that you shouldn't miss. Came here with a friend and his daughter and we all really enjoyed dinner. Our server July was a delight and provided fast and friendly service. We all got pho which was brought out within minutes of ordering. The broth was nice and not too overpowering. Get the fresh noodles. They have a wide variety of items so order a few things and you'll have leftovers to enjoy at home!

Yelp
The pho here is authentic northern Vietnamese pho, rare among all of the (southern) Vietnamese pho restaurants in California. Pretty much everything I've eaten here tastes really good and fresh. The mixed drinks use fresh ingredients and the flavors are vivid. I appreciate their seasonal specials. Waitress July is the best. She feels genuine, kind, and helpful. With her care, I feel like there wouldn't be any problems. It's nice to eat here in part because of waitress July. Looking forward to being back as a regular!

Yelp
Pho Hanoi is so good in SJ, but this one left me feeling much to be desired. My friend and I met up here for lunch and there was quite a wait which is fine. We both ordered pho and both of ours came out cold! The broth was like warm and my raw beef didn't even cook. I had to ask for extra hot broth which took a bit to come out so by the time I combined both. It was just warm. Overall, mediocre experience. I will stick to the SJ location.

Yelp
Order P1/P7/S9 (either the everything beef soup pho or the beef short ribs), period. 18% Tips are included in the final bill.

Yelp
Quick and efficient while comforting and delicious, Pho Ha Noi is a gem! Setting: In the heart of a busy area, there is ample parking and multiple seats in this gorgeous spot. The indoor paintings uplift and add to the restaurant. Service: Fast and efficient! Our server was kind while checking on us every now and then. The restaurant did get busy quick. Food: The beef pho is delicious and I prefer it to the chicken pho, but the chicken itself in the chicken pho is so tender and flavorful.

Yelp
Came on a Friday night for an early dinner around 5:30 and there was no wait! I got pho with their fresh noodles and thought it was delicious. We also ordered an order of pork spring rolls to share and liked it. Food was good, service was okay. I hate how they charge an automatic 18% tip when their waiters are not great. We always had to flag someone down for water, utensils, everything

Yelp
I got dinner with my friend here on a Friday night. It was busy but we got seated quickly. It is a spacious restaurant with plenty of seating. Since it is downtown, there is parking on the street. Pho Tai (3.5/5): Broth was nice and clean. Love the amount of green onions. The meat was ok though. The waitress asked if we wanted fresh noodles but then told us that they were actually sold out. Ha Noi Special Rolls (4/5): This was a good spring roll sample platter. I didn't care for the sauces they paired it with. It took forever to come out too. The price is high for 6 rolls. Overall it was a fine spot. They barely gave any bean sprouts and basil though which was surprising. The price is pretty high for what it is. Maybe I will come back.

Yelp
There were just two of us on a Monday evening. Awesome to have found street parking right across the street. We arrived around 7:30pm. There was no wait and were greeted and seated right away. The lighting is bright but not glaring. The decor is bright and fun with flowers on the ceilings and murals on the walls. Cool to be able to see into the large kitchen. We come here for the pho even though they do have a large menu with lots of tasty options. We've been to the San Jose and Cupertino locations and the Palo Alto location didn't disappoint. Pho was delicious as always. Service was great and was able to flag someone down if we needed to. One of our servers, July, was very friendly and let us know about all five locations. Yummy food. Awesome they were open til 9pm. Outstanding 24-hour broth here!!

Yelp
I am confused by this location/chain. Ok so let's get one thing straight - I love pho ha noi. I go to the Cupertino location whenever the pho craving hits and this time it hit while near Palo Alto. Interior: gorgeous Service: quick Food: :( lacking... I really do not know what it is, but something about the food at this location just isn't as good as the one in Cupertino or San Jose. The pho itself just seemed so bland and lacking any flavor? I tried it without any additions and with my usual additions and it just didn't taste right. So while I love pho ha noi, I probably won't come back to this location.

Yelp
First time here since we were in the area. Hopped in for lunch on a Thursday around 11:30am and was seated immediately. They have high chairs for the little ones and gave us utensils for my babe too. This spot is spacious, quick service, and attentive. The portion of my meal was generous, delicious, and aesthetically pleasing. I had P8 which is pho with rare beef on top. The hot sauce has a small kick but so good. Broth was perfection and the flat wide rice noodles was perfect for it. My daughter enjoyed it too! My husband also loved his pho dish. The meats were so soft and tasty too. My husband had the vietnamese coffee with egg, and was a huge fan too. Recommend and will be back! Also, we got free dessert samples of taro, sticky rice and coconut sauce when we were eating. That doesn't happen at Asian spots so that was a pleasant surprise.

Yelp
Pho Ha Noi is a super tasty restaurant. We come to this location as it is the closest location to where we live. It's worth the almost 40 minute drive. We ordered the pho, and that meat is so tender and juicy. The crab imperial rolls are really good too. My girlfriend ordered the Kui Fei Chicken and sticky rice, and it was super delicious. Excellent flavor with everything we ate. Our hostess July was amazing and attentive as usual. Overall, great experience! We love it here!

Yelp
Beef rib pho was solid, but I had to ask for scissors/knife to cut the meat--should've been brought out with the dish. Caused an interruption while trying to flag someone down for scissors. Also was surprised by the mandatory 18% service charge for just two people. I always tip for good service, but forcing a tipping % gives me the ick.

Yelp
It was our first time here. We got here exactly at 5 pm when they reopen for the dinner crowd. We got seated quickly in a prime location. Every time that I have passed by its always crowded, so that's a good sign. As time went on, the crowds did not fail, it started getting busier and busier. They don't have their own parking, street parking in downtown PA, but there are plenty of options within a reasonable walking distance. On a cold, rainy night, something warm is what is needed. I ordered 3 pork egg rolls, Egg Noodles and 1 lb Beef Short Rib. My friend got the Steak, Brisket and Flank Pho. Wow! I was impressed with the portions at a good price. Our food came quickly and it was delicious. Egg rolls were crispy but the Beef Short Rib flavor was supreme. It had the right amount of condiments that did not make it overwhelming in flavor. To me, it tasted like my moms caldo de res which is a high compliment. A really great broth that tastes truly homemade. 1 lb of meat is a lot, but given everything else I ordered it was a lot of food for me period. I was able to take home leftovers so that is not a bad thing. Since this restaurant is in Palo Alto, keep in mind that they include an automatic 18% service charge, you dont have to add an additional tip unless you wish to do so as stated in their receipt. The ambiance is so nice, love the floral decor. Will be coming back again.
