Ypsilanti Restaurant Pho House Targeted After Shooting of 6-Year-Old | Eater Detroit

"After social posts circulated linking the restaurant to Ryan Le-Nguyen, 29—accused of shooting a 6-year-old boy after a dispute over a bicycle—the restaurant's phones were inundated with angry calls and online attention. Calls have somewhat abated as supporters increased orders for the restaurant’s homemade Vietnamese pho. An organization called New Era Detroit posted a photo of the restaurant and urged followers to apply “pressure” ahead of the suspect’s bond hearing, prompting the owners to publicly state that Le-Nguyen is not the owner, has not worked there since 2015, is unrelated to the family, and that they do not support his actions; staff say they are unclear how the reports began. Have discovered this place maybe about a year ago, and fell in love. Almost everything I’ve tried has been very delicious and pretty flavorful, they’re many dishes that are light and fresh like the Vermicelli noodles. As well as filling and savory like the Lemons grass shrimp with rice. Highly recommend it here and to try as many dishes as possible!

When i visited the restaurant, they are launching the new hot stone beef noodle. Try it if you are here. The both is kept as natural as possible, less spice, but so tasty served with fresh rare beef that you can cook it to your liking, delicious like a boiling hot soup. I ordered a Bun Bo Hue, because the lady said "we cooked different broth for them", in Vietnam, it is a sign of a good restaurant with a caring chef. Different dish cooks with different broth. And the Bun Bo Hue is delicious, with a lot of vegetables and nice side chili oil (you can ask for it or not depending on how spicy you like). Completely different from other Vietnamese restaurants around Oceanside, they don't put too much sugar in their broth, the mild and tasty broth stands out with the full taste of fresh ingredients. And don't forget to order a pork rind spring rolls, some of the best i have tried in South Cal.

Hubby was under the weather and wanted to have some Pho.. found this place and it was so “Pho”king good!! It soothed our soul with warm and flavor. World definitely return if in the area again, everything was great including the fast service!!

UNDERCOOKED NOODLES…I am disappointed with entree number 43 combination stir fried noodles were undercooked and stuck together., my meal was awful and had to discard it. This was my last visit to the Pho house. Unfortunately, I saddened to say goodbye to the Pho House.

The best costumer service I’ve ever received in my entire lifetime. These people deserve every dollar they make such sweet people! The food is great but the service is the best ever. I spilled my cup and they raced to help me with in seconds drying the spill and ready with a new cup just super fast.

Their gluten-free vegan Pho is great and dramatically improved over the past four years. If you prefer the raw beef you will find the same incredible broth and veggies base.

Visited this place while in the area. Went in the evening and it was kinda hard to find because the lights for their sign outside the building was not lit up. Walked in and it was pretty busy. Despite it being busy we were seated in a few mins. Got lucky a couple tables were done. We ordered the grilled beef, vegetable noodle soup and the Hue Spicy Noodle Soup. The grilled beef and soup were pretty tasty. The broth in the soup was perfectly hot. We were kinda disappointed with the Hue Spicy Noodle Soup though. First of all it's NOT spicy and the noodles in it were like spaghetti noodles. Service was not bad for it being busy. Food came out in a timely matter. Lots of parking. Reasonable prices.

My family and I go here almost weekly! There's not many good Viet options in North Country, so this place takes my top spot! Service is fast, never had to wait. We usually get the Oxtail Pho, Nem Nuong, and Bun Bo Hue. The BBH used to have the pork shank but they've replaced it with a beef bone, which I prefer honestly.

So delicious!!! And their AC is on point! It might be summer but it's nice and cold inside this restaurant so you can enjoy your pho soup!! Everything we've had is amazing. Friendly staff. And they are quick! Best place in town!

Wow. This is truly amazing Pho, dare I say one of the best I have ever tried? Service is friendly and prompt. Broth was piping hot and flavorful. The meat was delicious, tendon was soft and decadent. Upscale decor for the ambience yet the prices are reasonable. $16.50 for a large house special pho... Plus the have a phenomenal house made chile oil that is unlike anything I have ever encountered. New favorite Pho in Oceanside? Undoubtedly!

Great place to come if you're feeling cold and want something warm to eat. My sister ordered the kids bowl of beef pho. Along with some eggrolls and I got the beef sandwich. Everything tasted absolutely delicious. The service was quick and we waited for our food for about 10 minutes. There is not one time that I come into this restaurant where I'm disappointed with the food. Everything tastes great. Till next time

Super authentic and tasty Vietnamese food! Absolutely loved the friendly customer service with a smile. The server shared her recommendations and I went with the House Soecial #24 (Combination Plate) that comes with the Egg Roll and Soup. Let's not forget the Vietnamese Coffee that I ordered. Wow! Comes in a boba style cup and it so rich and luxurious and velvety in flavor. This looks a welcoming family-owned business. Clean, inviting, efficient, and consistent. Definitely worth a try!

We are visited san diego near ocean side and we found this restaurant on facebook and we gonna give it a try it was so good we order Ox tail pho and the pho soup broth it was excellent taste that it was supposed to be when you walk in the restaurant you can smell pho broth so good and right there when you walk into the restaurant I Love it it's so good we also order eggs rolls and beef stew with bread they also so good too I would come back there to eat again when i come back to visiting here san diego I would highly recommend it to all my family and friends to go there to eat try it out if you are visiting here san diego ocean side ok !!!!

What a great pho spot! So glad I found it because the broth is so flavorful that you don't need to add any condiments to it! Prices and service are great (cheapest pho prices in SD! Definitely will be back. Tried their hot stone pot pho and it was so much meat and perfect for any protein lover!

My husband and I are here after a friend recommended it to us as their go to spot for pho. We left feeling full and satisfied! The service is 10/10 and offered us water often. Even when all the seats are full the restaurant is not too loud giving a good lunchtime ambience. Would come again!

FROM PHÓ HOUSE in Oceanside -House special Phó- (Rare steak, brisket, frank, tendon and tripe) They really give you so much food that I have enough left over to eat a full meal tomorrow. Only getting four out of five stars because some of the meat was under seasoned. But overall very soothing and comforting

For Oceanside, this is a decent pho place. Went with my family and they enjoyed their bowls. I got the bun bo hue and it was the SPICIEST one I've ever had. I eat it regularly in OC and at family's houses and this one has almost inedible levels of spice. I'm not sure if they messed up or if this is how they make it but I passed it around the table and let my family try and none of them could safely eat more than 2-3 bites before breaking out in a sweat. Overall, if you come here to get pho it'll do the job but I won't go out of my way for it. Food: 5/10 Service: 5/10 Atmosphere: 6/10 Value: 5/10

Don't miss out on their new stone pho it's absolutely amazing! The service always delivers a 10/10 thank you Lin, and the rest the staff! The broth is very authentic I'm half Vietnamese so I know! I highly recommend Pho house if you are around the area or live in Oceanside!

Fantastic pho, comes out quick as it should. The servers get you in quickly and are polite. Small dining area means this place is never too crowded. I really like orders with brisket here, you get an actual chunk of meat. I always enjoy pho with beef tendon and in this area they can be a little skimpy on portion size if you order it. The broth is really nice and satisfying. This is a good spot if you need the fix, yummy but a little on the higher side of pho price.

Portions are huge!!!!! Food is amazing. Water was filled up while we were eating. I love that in the mixed greens in my bowl, it's mixed with Thai Basil. Service was efficient, thorough, and friendly. We'll come back soon!

We ordered food for delivery. It was ready quick, and still hot when we received it. I had the pork noodle bowl. The seasoning was tasty, the greens were fresh and the sauce was a good touch. I wished they had the egg coffee but they do have pâté on their bahn mi which is difficult to find. I'd recommend this spot and I'd eat here again. There were a few other dishes I would like to try.

Rare steak pho is so good!! They load it up with the steak and the server even came by to show us his favorite sauce trio. Staff are really nice too. We also got the spring rolls and it tasted fresh and good, especially the peanut sauce. Quaint casual dining. Would recommend!

We love the seafood pho! It has a delicious broth, plenty of seafood including shrimp and calamari, and fresh vegetables (basil, lime, bean sprouts, jalapeño) to add to your own taste. I tried the banh mi sandwich this time. The bread was soft and warm inside with a slightly crunchy crust (just right), tender pork, fresh vegetables and a pate that added moistness to bread (but not goopy). The Vietnamese coffee is strong but the condensed milk smooths it out. Jasmine pot of tea is soothing and a great deal for $5.

Tried it for the first time...would not come back. Pho broth is super fishy and salty for what should taste like pho broth. Only came here because of good reviews but coming from LA and Orange county...I don't think a lot of ppl around here knows what a good pho should taste like.

The Holy Grail find of Pho Spots! Accidentally stumbled upon this place while in Oceanside. The Spring rolls were fresh and delicious. The house pho was really good meat quality felt up there and the broth was packed full of flavors! The show stopper was this pho served in a hot rock! It came with oxtails and spare ribs! I was jealous my wife ordered it and I didn't (of course I stole a few bites)! I would definitely recommend that one to anyone.

We grabbed take out from this location. Wow we were very impressed with the Pho and the egg rolls. Perfect balance of savory and spicy from the jalapeños. Good amount of chicken as well. Cannot speak on the ambiance since we took it home but the service was excellent. The food was ready on time from DoorDash app and they were very welcoming when I walked in.

for years, ever since we discovered Pho House, we had to stop and enjoy its pho. Few years back when they introduced the chicken wings as appetizer, that too became our go to appetizer. Today it's no different, after 750 miles of driving, we timed it so that we were there for a long anticipated dinner. Broth is still the best, as usual. chicken wings tasted good, as usual. However, they are now 3 wings cut into halves and call it 6 pieces. Worse of all the House Pho had two toothpick thin tripes, one tendon and few pieces of beef meat. Totally out of character. Very disappointed. Time to find a new Pho restaurant.

New go too Pho place when in Oceanside/Carlsbad area. Hole in the wall! Popular because of the food not the location. Pho chicken had great quality CHICKEN BREAST (and let me tell you I am picky). I added MIXED VEGGIES, and it was so worth it great fresh veggies, in a large variety, they mixed into my soup for me. The cooked garlic garnish is a great finishing touch! SERVICE was so smiley and attentive.

i use to be frequent regular here until the service kept declining and i can't justify giving my money to them anymore. food is 4/5 service 2/5 my latest visit left me with a bitter taste. the asian lady in her mid 40s with glasses seems to not care about her damn job. I brought 4 people to try pho for the first time and now i regret it. from taking our orders without a tablet or pen and messing up 3 of our orders to never checking up on us. It felt like she didn't want us to be there. At the very end, she refused to close our checks for 16-20 min and would do random things like cleaning other tables while walking slowly in the back with direct eye contact, closing other people's tab, and doing anything else but close our damn tabs. As a server i would never tip 0% but today felt so disrespectful that i told all my friends to not tip. I hope ur happy, u lost me as a customer/regular

Update: do not here. Staff was passive aggressiveness about my review when I had to trash pho I paid for after finding a hair in my noodles. I would've preferred a refund but the restaurant only offered to make another bowl. It is gross enough when you pull out a thin black short hair from your pho noodles knowing there's no way it's mine because 1) the pho was not removed from to go packaging 2) I have thick long black hair but to be asked to show it like I'd lie about it is stupid. You're in the wrong for not being up to health code and having employees wear hair nets. There was hair in my pho and they only give a few slices of flank steak and tripe in their "special" pho-no meatballs no tendon either.

The pho is always on point. they have the best tofu spring rolls in the entire world. my husband isn't even a fan of tofu but says they are better than all of the other spring rolls. i am definitely a regular so they know my order by now and always take such good care of us. Lynn is so sweet.

We were in San Diego for a soccer tournament. After burgers and pizzas for a few dinners, I suggested to my husband that I had a craving for phở after seeing Phở House from the freeway. He and I decided to head there for dinner. We ordered the shrimp and pork spring rolls. They were delicious. The peanut sauce was yummy, too! For our main course, we ordered the phở with the filet mignon meat slices. Being Vietnamese, I have had my share of phở and this bowl of phở was in the top 5! The portion size was great and I would have slurped up all the broth if I hadn't been so full. The wait staff was super friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself was clean and organized. Several patrons came in for take-out and there were only a few tables open. They obviously have regulars come in often. We will definitely come back to eat here the next time we are in San Diego. Staff doesn't care for online orders, specifically one guy that thinks he runs the place when all the ladies are working harder and being super nice and respectful. This guy doesn't care about customers orders or if the orders take long or not... really bad experience, I hope they could do something with this negative energy short dud!

This is our go-to pho place on the north side of O'side. We've visited or ordered food at least 5x. It's consistently good with fresh ingredients. It is clean and the staff is friendly and attentive. It seems to be family owned/run. We've tried the pho in various flavors, bun bowls, broken rice dishes, and of course the Vietnamese crispy rolls. With the exception of getting too little accoutrements to wrap the crispy rolls, it ranks right up with the best in the area. I've only had better at Pho Trang on convoy. Docking a star for receiving the wrong order twice via delivery. They need a better system for their delivery quality controls. All in all, a solid choice for Vietnamese in the North County area.
