The 12 Best Pho Restaurants In Los Angeles

"Sometimes, after a long week, you just want to eat by yourself in the corner. And other times, the whole crew is joining you. If you find yourself in the latter situation, head to Pho Huynh in El Monte, an excellent SGV pho option with a massive space ideal for big group dining. The pho here is Northern-style, which means the noodles are wider and the broth is nearly see-through. It’s slightly different than other versions you’ll find around town, and it tastes incredible. Get the pho bac with filet mignon. " - nikko duren, brant cox, garrett snyder, sylvio martins

Google
The best way I can describe it is mediocre pho. They advertise having fresh pho but it's actually not but bought from the market. Pretty disappointed at the whole food experience. The soup is too sweet, the pho noodle is not fresh, the beef is poor quality (cheap beef), and the bean sprout is old. It's not a place I would go back again given there is a far superior alternative across from the street (no wonder why it's empty in lunch hour rush time while across the street it's pretty full)

Google
The place has a lot of tables and seats. I enjoyed my lunch here. The porkchop meal was delicious. The passion fruit ice tea 🍵 here is great. I appreciate the service here. 🙏

Google
Had the house special w/ filet mignon Soup 7/10 This was a very interesting broth, it's not your traditional broth, it was less salty, maybe no msg, and they added ginger for an interesting twist that made the soup more balanced (I find traditional broths to be very tasty while at the store but feel a bit heavy after leaving the store, where this soup just tastes good during and after) Beef 6/10 For the beef, this is my fault, it was very soft and actually too good to put into pho. I am more used to the slightly less tender beef they put into your every day pho store. Coffee 10/10 I hardly ever have problems with Vietnamese coffee. I am a more of an iced expresso with no sugar and cream type of guy. The coffee here was strong and not super sweet. Perfect. This is one of the few pho places that open at 8am. And they served the pho in less than 2 minutes. (I was here at 8am) So would definitely come again.

Google
It’s a corner restaurant! Parking is in the back so you do have to look for it if you’re coming from the big streets. I was a bit confused on how to park since the lines weren’t visible but I just ended up parking next to another vehicle. Walked in and it’s much bigger than expected. You can walk from where you parked. The front door was closed so don’t walk around. We got seated immediately. Ordered within a few minutes and got our food within 5 minutes. It’s really quick. The noodles came out hot hot which I love! Soup: It was way too salty for me but I want to try again as i was told it isn’t usually that salty. You can taste the MSG but what food doesn’t have msg. Price: very reasonable with the portion you’re given

I'm not usually give 1 star rate till I'm really disappointed. That's all meat u can get in a $15 Pho. And then let's talk about the food. No tasty, the soup taste like salty MSG water. For This price u can easily find much better than this restaurant. DISAPPOINT! Never come back!

Google
Just ate there... All the meat smells like it's almost going bad and it's so tough I can't even chew it. Definitely will not return.

Google
My friend from the former auto parts store first introduced me to pho from this location over 15 years ago. It was the best hangover food I've ever had and it is a good comfort food for me.

Google
Their pho is excellent. Definitely different from what I’m use to...but I loved every swirl, sloop, slurp, and gulp! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Yelp
Best Pho in South El Monte. Big portions and good quality food. It is family owned so when you eat here you are supporting a small business. The inside is actually nice and the service is fast.

Yelp
It was sooo bad! I ordered pho tai- well done meat & cooked noodle, I asked for oil and onion(from my experience- they put it on the side) I didn't find the oil- but now realize that they put the oil directly inside my pho... I've never had any pho restaurant do that & I've been to many pho restaurants I couldn't even pick up the noodles w my chopstick bc it was so hard. The meat was bloody. I do not recommend this place!

Yelp
I know many people, including my Vietnamese colleagues, say that this restaurant's flavors are more authentic. But after trying it several times, I still can't get used to the taste. First of all, although the texture of the pho isn't bad, the broth lacks flavor, yet it isn't exactly light either (you can see a lot of oil floating on top). So it's not a case of sacrificing taste for health reasons. Secondly, the portion size. I ordered the combination pho, priced at $15, but the portion is relatively small compared to other places. As a man of average build, I didn't feel full. The staff also aren't very good at communication, and when it's crowded, it takes time to clarify who ordered what when the food is served. In conclusion, this isn't a place I would personally frequent.

Yelp
For a quick fill up near the place visited. Soup base is ok compare to other pho place.

Yelp
Literally my favorite place for Pho. I live in West Covina, but drive here. Back when I lived in the area, I found myself going here multiple times per week. Been coming here for years, I had thought I already left a review. It's the home made sate sauce that really makes the pho pop. Pairs so well together. I like the broth, the fresh noodles and the chunks of filet in the Pho Bac. I go here enough where they know I don't need a menu. Every now and then they're shocked when I add a bite iced coffee to my order. Haha. J typically go here a little bit past normal lunch hours, just because they can get busy for weekend lunch. I prefer to enjoy my pho somewhat quietly without feeling rushed.

Yelp
Excellent Banh mi Ap Chảo and Banh Mi Xíu Mại. Must try when visit Pho Huynh. . So Yummy!!!

Yelp
This establishment has been here for so long and it's one of my go-to pho place in El Monte! Location: It's located on Garvey Ave. Parking: They have a small designated parking area. Entrance is on the side street. Ambience: Typical Vietnamese pho restaurant. It's very spacious and can accommodate a large group. Pho: I think they have the best Pho Bac, which is the file mignon pho that is served in a steel bowl. All the other pho is good to, but Pho Bac is my favorite item from here. Drinks: They have all kinds of delicious drink. My favorite from here is their penny-worth drink. Overall: I've been coming to this place for the past 15 years! Highly recommend it if you're local and want to try out local food from here.

Kate J.

Yelp
Been to this place for so many years since they opened in 2006. The pho bac's taste has deteriorated so much in the last couple of times we were here. This last time was so bad we've decided this is the last time. The soup tasted nothing but salt and start anise, like the package instant pho. Sad to see this place turn so bad.
google avatar

Vivi T.

Yelp
This place is BAD! First, the food was ok but the prices were too high. Second, there was only one sever and when we came in, we were not brought to a seat and had to find one ourselves. The ambiance was ok. Only come here if you have money to burn.
google avatar

Ana R.

Yelp
Food is fried, a bit greasy. Still tasty just can't eat too much of it. Service is good even with lines. Ambiance - take out recommended.
google avatar

Yelp
First time coming here and I will be coming back!! This place is so good and affordable. I got this pho tai/ steak pho for $13 and it was so delicious and filling.

Yelp
Pretty super basic pho spot and what you can expect. It's not luxurious but at around $16 a bowl, it is decent. They can change portions when times are rough or as other have said. I have heard or read that they sometimes they can have add mysterious upcharge for tips. I am not too vigilant of it or think that happens. Not too much parking space at all so consider walking from a distance or carpool. Walking from 10 minutes away is best to protect your vehicle from damage. It's super small outside though spacious inside. There's never really a line because the space is huge inside yet always vaccant and empty not near full capacity so it is not a worry to plans. A male worker or possibly, the owner there, does occassionally like to come out of their kitchen and often give a deep glare stare at people and customers while eating. And so just be aware, self-conscious people would not benefit from eating alone there, that's just their regular behavior and demeanor, as to not be alarmed. It scares me and other women customer sometimes however use your judgment- it varies by people.

Yelp
Ordered Pho on a weekday morning for Togo and asked for uncooked noodles because they don't travel well. When I picked up the food, I was given cold soup. This was extremely disappointing since now it's like I'm getting old soup. It was 1 special pho and 1 meatball pho and I paid $30. This is pretty pricey for what I got. Portion was small and taste wasn't even that great and the quality was average. Good pho from Golden Delight isn't even that expensive. This place has really gone down hill since pre Covid days. Overall: Food: 4/10 Cleanliness: 6/10 Service: 6/10

Yelp
WHAT THE PHO??? Ok I'll talk about FOOD first because I wanna be clear the food is5 great excellent PHO. But it's the way they kept the restaurant brought it down to 3, FOOD: we ordered PHO for second time and it didn't disappoint us. Taste greasy , delicious with right amount of everything. Noddle and meat were cooked also meat got great quality which these days with price of meat spiking high is hard to provide. The. You asked why I scored higher? RESTROOMS: Horrible ! Smells bey bad. Missing napkins and soup . Only sanitizer available. Interior: Looks great , but as you walk in (both times) it smells propane gas strongly. it seems this place had his hey days cuz decorations are great but no maintenance has been performed. Crew ; very respectful and even stopped their break to serve costumer.!! It's almost you want close your eyes and pretend you are not there and enjoy that delicious PHO because the food is worth it to stop by with a friend or coworker.

Yelp
Came for breakfast and my pho was delicious. They also have some sides at the counter that you can buy to bring back to the table to eat. My pho came with a lot of meat so that was a + but not enough noodles haha. Overall: Will return when craving pho for breakfast
google avatar

Yelp
Oops! Sorry guys, I'd left the wrong review for this place, the place a meant to review is across the street. This place is okay compared to the place across the street. It's average at best, and they don't take credit cards so I have to remove another star.
google avatar

Virginia D.

Yelp
*** BE CAREFUL WHEN THEY RING UP - OVERCHARGED ME!!! *** They added 25 to 50 cents to some of my items. That's very dishonest. I didn't notice it until I left. The goi coun was dry and wrapped loosely. It fell apart when I took my first bite. They're cheap on the meat with their Pho Tai. My family got the Pho Bac. They liked it.

Higher H.

Yelp
Best pho in the 626 still!!! Service is fast and friendly. You can taste the quality in the soup. Will be returning here with my friends and family.
google avatar

Ann H.

Yelp
My favorite northern style pho "Pho Bac" for years. The northern style pho gives you the pure beef broth without lots of spices taste. Fillet mignon was really tender and delicious. Although they had to raise the price a little due to inflation but their taste hasn't changed at all. Service sometimes is slow but it's not a big issue. It's my must go place every time I come back to LA.
google avatar

Mo H.

Yelp
Need to give this place a justices. Yes, taste is a personal preference, but peoples that complains about the lack of favor, Please, order the southern style ones (non-filet mignon, and yes, I can tell they have different brooth for that that, which stronger in spice and saltyness). *This place is best at their Pho Bac (Northern Style), which is purposely lighter, and let the great Filet Mignon shines. Been to this place decade+, they know what they're doing
google avatar

Jay C.

Yelp
This is my go to Pho Spot , the Pho Bac. With their special chill sauce on a rainy day . A must try if you looking for that authentic northern style Pho.

Tina L.

Yelp
There pho was so good. The soup is not sweet, which I like and they give you anything you ask when you call them. They come right away. The service is really good. and it is pretty cheap.
google avatar

Shannie C.

Yelp
I used to love this spot for their northern style pho but the last few times I've visited it's been very lackluster in flavor the service is good but i've found myself preferring other spots to this one. I will add that we left behind one of our bags and thankfully they kept it safe for us to pick up the next day. So bonus points for being friendly & dependable.
google avatar

Emad S.

Yelp
Not too salty which is perfect. The food doesn't make you feel heavy afterwards which is nice. The service was also very speedy and quick! Parking in the back, space in the dining area. Definitely will return here
google avatar

Jenny Y.

Yelp
Always find myself coming back to this pho place when there are plenty in the SGV. The interior is pretty modern and pho is delicious. The street seems a bit sketchy but they have their own parking lot. The pho is flavorful, steaming hot, and always fills me up. I love coming here when I'm feeling sick and need a hot mea

Yelp
First of all, they charge for water! What in the bloody... 0.50 per water and it wasn't bottled water. Just tap water in a styrofoam cup. They also did not inform us of the charge so it was a surprise to us at the end. Shady. Shady. If we knew that then we would have refused water. This is the second Vietnamese place I have encountered that wants to charge for water. Prices have gone up and they no longer have the option of regular size bowls. Maybe because of COVID? Their prices are expensive considering the area they are in. Portions are not bad. Good amount of meat and noodles but for the price, not worth it. I've read previous reviews that say the broth is good and clean. While it looks clear and clean, it's just salty water. It had no flavor and was pretty salty. Service is non existent. No one ever came to check up on us or refill our water. They took our order, brought us our food, and never saw them again until they brought our bill. Would we come back again? No way. We would rather go to pho filet down the street. They have great prices, portions, and super friendly, attentive service.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
We have been there twice and absolutely love the food and service that is offered. I have got the plain noodles and it's always comforting. My fiancé gets one of the premium phos and he loves it as well. I've also tried their Tai Tea and it is delicious.
google avatar

Thomas T.

Yelp
There are tons of pho places in the San Gabriel Valley. I only come here for the pho bac (filet mignon pho). The noodles are not your standard pho noodles. These noodles are small flat rice noodles. I like the slippery-ness of these noodles. The pho comes in a metal bowl to retain heat (possibly?). The only protein that's on there is filet mignon. It's topped off with a bit of green onions, cilantro and ginger. Basil and bean sprouts you put in yourself
google avatar

Christina N.

Yelp
Came on a Sunday for some noon-time pho. Glad to see that they had outdoor dining since it's been a while since I've had pho at a restaurant. The broth had great flavor and the servers were very responsive. Overall, a great staple in the area!
google avatar

Dien P.

Yelp
Came here around 11:50 on a Monday. Not a lot of people so we were seated immediately. From taking our order to getting our food everything was done in a quick manner. My mom and I both ordered the Pho Tai, it was good but the soup was a bit more salty than how we'd like it, but I think that's because we're used to eating more plain foods. There was less meat than expected, but there is a good noodle to soup ratio and considering inflation and all, I think what we got for the price was pretty reasonable.
google avatar

Tony J.

Yelp
First time at this restaurant. The pho was pretty good. Had the beef round and brisket with regular vermicelli. They also have the thick noodle version. Broth was good and beef and noodles excellent. Service was also pretty good and nice looking restaurant. Only thing I would have to say it not in best neighbor. There were several homeless guys wandering around outside.
google avatar

Zachary H.

Yelp
My favorite pho spot for over 10 years. Always love it here, service is typically fast and I've never left disappointed!
google avatar

Yelp
Was craving pho for breakfast so we yelped a couple of places in our areas that opened early and pho Huynh was the closest one, plus a couple of our friends said it was pretty good so we wanted to give it a try. Got there around 8:45am they were pretty empty, maybe two customers? Got seated right away, first impression of the restaurant they're pretty clean, well decorated. Their menu is pretty simple, just two pages for food and one for drinks. We ordered #17 and #22, got our food pretty quickly, first impression of the broth was kinda bland to my taste. They do give a lot of noodles tho which is a plus for me because I love noodles! The meat wasn't chewy, the tripes is good, but the tendons was kinda mehhhh it was super thin, chewy, and crunchy wasn't a fan of it. Overall vertical: it's okay if you want a quick bite early morning and you're craving pho. Probably won't go there again..
google avatar

Gabriel R.

Yelp
Pho soup with rare steak and brisket awesome taste like no other that's why my first choice is pho huynh local family business I recommend this place anytime any day delicious must try spring rolls
google avatar

Karen T.

Yelp
I've been going here for as long as I remember with my family. My grandma, aunt, and dad refuse to eat anywhere else for pho in the SGV-- they say it's better than the pho back in Vietnam. It's been a pleasure to see Pho Huynh grow and evolve over the years. They're constantly innovating and trying out a new menu, new items, etc. I always get the pho tai chin. It's the perfect amount of flavor, and the portion is very good. I'm a constant at pho Huynh for Saturday or Sunday breakfast, and I'll continue to keep going! :)
google avatar

Haz V.

Yelp
Not very accommodating to guests, bad service in fact. Was just there today. Food were just ordinary Ghetto area Will not come back and won't recommend this place. Two thumbs down.
google avatar

Emily D.

Yelp
Okay y'all .... Go get your PHO BAC here!!! The broth is delicious, no MSG, really almost tastes homemade! I ordered on the phone and picked up at the door (currently quarantine season still). The filet mignon in the pho is super tender along with the fresh noodles! I definitely will be coming back here!!! I don't even know why I stopped in the first place! I started coming here during my teenage years, and stopped after scouting out to other food places. But this place will always have a place in my heart!
google avatar

Beatriz S.

Yelp
my first time trying the northern style pho, and i absolutely loved it. my new favorite spot for pho. peach tea was soo good. service was great. plentiful parking in the back! i would definitely come back for more.
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
You can't beat the prices. The regular at $7.50 is a complete meal with great aroma and round taste. The pho bac (northern pho) is a highlight for those looking for a different version. The vietnamese ice coffee will get your heart beating fast quickly. Wait for the ice to melt a little to get it diluted.
google avatar

Marlene P.

Yelp
I loved their chicken pho. A nail technician recommended me to this place. I usually like to talk about authentic food with people of different race. Food always brings people together. I love trying new things and finding new foods to eat.
google avatar

Kat N.

Yelp
I ordered bun noodles with shrimp, eggroll, and grilled pork. It had very fresh lettuce, cucumbers, and sprouts in it. Pork was a bit fatty, but very flavorful. I especially liked the fish sauce because I was sweeter and less pungent (the way I like it). Food came out fast.
google avatar

Jan T.

Yelp
Don't think about coming here. Horrible place to eat pho. Soup is bland, bunch of noodles. I got the bac noodles and it barely had any noodles. My husband got the dac biet and it a lot of noodles. No AC running while we eat pho. I get it's about 80 degrees out but I think they should know that it's going to get hotter while eating. Want a happy customer you should have the AC running during this time of weather. For sure this is my last time coming here. Service was bad. I had to ask for cilantro like 3 times until they finally brought it out and it's mixed in with green onions. They could've said I don't just have cilantro only. Husband went to the restroom to wash his hands and came right back out after and mentioned there is no soap, more like it's water down soap. During this pandemic i think they should take this serious and be prepared to have soap since we are always washing our hands thoroughly because of Covid 19. Overall I don't see them cleaning the tables properly as well like other restaurants I've gone to.
google avatar

Britney W.

Yelp
Came here a couple times on lunch break. Customer service could've been better each service. Food and portion size were good though.
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
We all "noodle" have some time to enjoy the small things in life! Food: Pho Ga (Chicken Rice Noodle Soup) Price: regular size, $7.75 Ratings: what I like about this place from other chicken rice noodle soup is their broth. It's very "clean" HAHAH in the sense that it's not that salty, but the chicken broth with the onions compliment each other very well. They also give a lot of chicken for a regular! The rice noodles are also cooked really well and are very soft. The service could be better 'cause it felt a little slow! There is parking in the backkkkk aye
google avatar

Jeff K.

Yelp
During this Pandemic, they raise up the price, fine. But very inconsistent, i used to get charge for $24 for two pho and 2 coffee. Now sometime they charged $28.55, $31.4, $32.54, today he charged $30. The quality went really bad, a lot less meat but more noodles. Coffee is so much less than before. Time to go somewhere else for Pho
google avatar

Bike M.

Yelp
This is the third time i come here. Food and service has not changed. Broth lacks flavor, meat is soft but also lacks flavor, They don't give you that much vegetables (mint, sprouts, limon etc). I had to put lemon, black sauce and pepper to enhance my meal. Will i come back here? Sure, only if the other place near by isn't open. Price is very reasonable, but food isn't the best.
google avatar

Sam M.

Yelp
Super quick. Stopped by here for lunch and they were super nice, attentive, and the food came out sooo fast which was what I was hoping for since I spent half my lunch break running an errand. Food was great too!
google avatar

Jef H.

Yelp
My friend said this place has the most authentic flavored pho in the area. We've been to the Valley Blvd pho shops. She suggested it, I replied "pho sure"! The parking lot and cute mural reminded me of Miami's Little Havana. This is the eastern migration of Garvey Avenue's Asian sprawl. As we entered, I was met with the wonderful aroma of pho. We were seated quickly, ordered from the simple menu, and the food was quickly brought to the table. I had the steak and well done brisket. My first taste of the broth was delightful. The meat was tender and had the right amount of fat for flavoring. I ordered a regular size, I should have gotten a large, because I finished quickly LOL...
