Acclaimed LA Pitmaster Kevin Bludso Is Hosting a Huge Barbecue Festival in Compton | Eater LA

"After 18 years, I watched longtime Larchmont Village Japanese restaurant Muraya switch gears into a full-fledged Vietnamese spot called Pho La Vache in early May; owner Jane Kwak adapted a long bone broth process for the pho and is serving banh mi, rice noodle salads, summer rolls, plus a handful of Muraya dishes that remain on the menu." - Mona Holmes

This place is definitely overrated and not a great choice for pho. On the bright side, soup is good. And the portion size is generous and the quality of the meat is actually quite good. However, the “rare steak” wasn’t rare at all — it was just regular cooked beef, lol. The pho itself didn’t taste authentic. The noodles were too thin and hard at first, and then turned soggy just a few minutes later. The texture was honestly very disappointing. It felt like the noodles were pre-cooked and just quickly reheated with hot broth when ordered — everything tasted like it was made separately and thrown together at the last minute. Also, overpriced. Lastly, the service was cold and unfriendly. The staff barely smiled and seemed indifferent — poker-faced the whole time, to US. Maybe it’s just because we’re Asian.

Google
We loved our lunch dining experience. The pho was outstanding! The broth was richly decadent and full of beefy goodness. The service was lightning fast. The price point matched the quality of the food making it a good value.

Google
Definitely one of the better pho spots in the area. Their house special is $24 and it's a bit more pricey than other places but it's in boojie Larchmont therefore the price is justified in my opinion. The house special has a large piece of rib meat, oxtail, brisket, and tendon but it does not take away from the pho flavor. Great add to visit at Larchmont. Will definitely frequent this place!

The best vegan pho I’ve ever had (I’m sure it does without saying, but my friends + partner also love a plethora of the meat-based options as well) & the owners are so sweet!!!! Please give this place a try :)

Before I get to the review I’ll preface this by saying that I grew up on Pho and Vietnamese food so I have certain expectations of what I think is a good bowl of Pho. Second, I want to address a misinformed reviewer who got delivery and complained that the broth wasn’t hot enough to cook their rare steak. This person might not get take out Pho regularly but it’s nearly impossible to keep the broth hot enough with delivery unless you want to burn through the plastic it’s delivered in and the meat is always kept in a separate plastic bag so as not to overcook it. What you should do is warm the broth up in a pot, then pour it over the noodles and meat so those don’t get over cooked. That’s the best way to ensure the closest thing to eating it at a restaurant. Now to my review. I had hesitations about this place given 1. it’s in bougie Larchmont village 2. it was giving pan Asian vibes with their extensive sake list and a decent amount of non-Viet items on the menu. That said, I was pleasantly surprised at how good the Viet food is here. Like this could possibly be one of the best Phos in LA proper (not including SGV or OC). The broth is clear but also rich and deeply flavorful without tasting salty. It’s just a very well balanced beefy, hearty, umami broth that I’ve been struggling to find in LA. The levels of the toasted spices are perfect (not too heavy on the star anise, etc). I honestly don’t think I needed to add hoisin or even lime. They give you plenty of meat and it’s topped with a generous amount of cilantro and green onions which reminds me a bit of the pho you get in Hanoi. There were a few reviews complaining about the price. It’s about $18 for the classic pho with three types of meat. I’d say that’s a fair price especially considering the location. How is it that a bowl of pasta without any protein is $30+ but a noodle soup that’s been stewed all day and comes with multiple types of ample meat is expected to be cheap? Not that I want to pay more for pho but it’s worth more than almost any pasta dish you can get and I will die on that hill. Also got the egg rolls which came with lettuce and greens to wrap it with which is the way I grew up eating it. The dipping sauce had the perfect balance of fish sauce and not watered down like many places. Points all around for authenticity here. Finally, I want to point out that customer service was above and beyond friendly. My waiter, not sure if he was also the manager, came by multiple times to ask me if I needed anything including extra broth or noodles.

Google
Super scrumptious! The pho tasted so clean and delicious. The vermicelli noodle dish with tofu was also very tasty. They even gave my 3 year old her own pho dish, which she enjoyed. We'll be back!

Melody de Castro

Google
Delicious delicious delicious! I had the beef vermicelli with spring rolls. My cousin's had the tofu pho and the house special pho. We were all pleased wish out dishes!

Google
2/22/2025 - Having lunch at an upscale Vietnamese restaurant in Windsor Square, neighborhood in Los Angeles. Indeed, this is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Los Angeles. For example, the broth from Beef Medley House Special or Beef Rib are delicious, and the taste of Vietnamese coffee is also very authentic without seeing an ice cube while others put a lot of ice cubes in one cup.

Khashayar N.

Yelp
Amazing broth! Service is both kind and urgent! Love the vibes! Came here feeling a little sick, post meal I felt great! They're very generous with their protein portions too compared to other places I've had pho at. Highly recommend

Anastasia S.

Yelp
Ate here for the first time tonight. It's delicious! I had their Vegan Pho but subbed beef broth (I like the veggies and tofu that come in veggie versions of pho, but who can resist the clean powerful flavor that the traditional beef broth brings - judge if you must haha), my friend had the classic pho, and we shared and order of egg rolls. Everything was delicious and fresh. Service was warm and quick. The restaurant was comfortable and noise level was better than most and was able to have a conversation with my friend over a delightful, healthy and affordable dinner out - which is not that common in LA!. A hidden gem. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Lucia L.

Yelp
If you're in the @larchmontvillage area, don't PHO-get to check out @pho.lavache ! This hidden gem features an extensive menu selection of Vietnamese dishes, ranging from pho, spring rolls, banh mi, sizzling plates to vermicelli. I was pleasantly surprised at how authentic and well-made all the dishes I tried were, and I would highly recommend their beef medley house special soup and house made egg rolls. Service was SO sweet and attentive, and I'll definitely be back to support such an underrated and kind Asian-owned business when I'm in the area! Only downside is that parking can be tough on weekends/busy times, so I recommend parking down the street and walking over a few blocks! Featured here: beef medley house special soup house made egg rolls chicken vermicelli chicken banh mi Vietnamese coffee

Yelp
Location & Ambiance: Located on N Larchmont Blvd (next to Jeni's Ice Cream), with street parking or a paid lot available close by. The restaurant is clean, with both indoor and outdoor seating (complete with heaters). Service: We were greeted immediately upon entering. The staff was polite, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the menu items. Food: We ordered the House-Made Egg Rolls and Classic Pho with rare steak. The food came out fresh and quickly. The egg rolls were fried to perfection and served with fish sauce, shredded carrots and daikon, and fresh red lettuce. The Classic Pho with Rare Steak was delicious--the broth was sweet and creamy, not overly salty. The vermicelli noodles were perfectly cooked, and the broth was hot enough to cook the rare steak just right!

Yelp
Surprisingly decent pho in the middle of Larchmont! The broth was light yet flavorful, and the meats were perfect with a squeeze of hot sauce and oyster sauce and lime. Service was friendly but not quick. The restaurant has a nice relaxed vibe and it's a nice place to enjoy a warm bowl of pho on a cold day. Prices are steep (to be expected for the area) but overall a good experience.
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
We ordered beef medley, classic, egg roll and thai tea. Never seen any pho restaurants that has Oxtail and Ribs together. Soup was not too deep or light it was somewhere in between and it was perfect for me. I think they make their own eggroll it was super goooooooood!!! And finally thai tea... i usually don't order thai tea because it's too sweet but their tea is not too sweet i loved it will try different pho next time
google avatar

Linda Y.

Yelp
I'm so happy to find a good pho spot near by! This is in the Larchmont village by the very end! You are lucky to get street parking a couple blocks down, but that's not very hard to find! We got the Thai tea which is super delicious and not too sweet! The spicy tuna rice was an excellent choice to start with! And the fresh shrimp spring rolls were a delight as well! This place is super cozy and spacious with indoor and outdoor seating! It looks like people are in the neighborhood. Come here often! The soup portions let's talk about that is huge! This will make 2-3 meals. The broth itself is super clean and to tasty! Good for when you're hung over or sick, or just in dire need of some warm soup and noodles! This place is super amazing. The staff are really friendly and super accommodating! Definitely will be back when I crave pho!
google avatar

Yelp
YOU GUYS WHY ISNT THIS PLACE POPPING ALL THE TIME?!?!? The food is outstanding, super kind servers and great service, love the music and a PERFECT chill lunch spot to meet someone!
google avatar

Esther K.

Yelp
The pho broth hit the spot on a cold day. The service was warm and friendly. The ambiance is modern. Inside of the restaurant it makes you feel that you are sitting outside on a patio.
google avatar

Dave B.

Yelp
Great addition to the neighborhood. The Pho is light and tasty. And the Shrimp Summer Roll, well I wish it was the never ending summer roll. Haha. The owner is thoughtful and kind. Larchmont welcomes you!
google avatar

Yelp
We have come here twice now- once for takeout and a second for eating in. We definitely recommend eating in! The staff is so incredibly kind and was quick to help us have the best experience possible. The pho is delightful - we ordered the classic with a mix of brisket and rare steak which we liked more than the chicken on takeout. House egg roll was lovely - you wrap the egg roll in lettuce to enjoy! Stone pot was a fun experience, seafood came with shrimp and crab. A smaller dish compared to the pho but still filling. We will definitely be back on the next chilly evening in Larchmont Village

Yelp
This Pho restaurant is located in the heart of the shopping area of Larchmont and is serving up classic Pho and Vietnamese items. The interior is casual but nice and extremely clean. I ordered the Pho w chicken breast and thought it was great! The service was outstanding! Our waitress could not have been nicer, water glasses were never empty, she was just lovely. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for amazing Vietnamese food.

Pita V.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! The lady and the gentleman serving us were so kind, efficient, and welcoming. The portions are perfect! You truly get a bang for your buck! I highly recommend.

Yelp
I go to many pho places but I am currently writing this review at Pho La Vache because it is REALLY GOOD. I am enjoying my classic pho for $18 and you get to pick three servings of meat in it between rare steak, brisket, tendon, and meatball. Service was fine, pretty attentive. I've been to many many pho places but this is my fave for now.
google avatar

Paul L.

Yelp
Pho La Vache took over the sushi joint that used to be here, and honestly, I think it's an upgrade. I went with the beef medley house special pho, and wow--they don't skimp on portions. This bowl was massive, packed with tender beef and broth that was so flavorful it could probably stand on its own without the noodles. I washed it down with a Sapporo draft, which was just what I needed. The outdoor patio? Perfect for people-watching on Larchmont. Service was spot-on too; super friendly and quick without being overbearing. Next time, I'm definitely trying one of their rice bowls--this spot is worth a repeat visit!

Yelp
I went to larchmont today craving sushi at Muraya, but was in shock to see that it has now become a pho place. It seemed a bit out of place for larchmont but I decided to give it a try since I'm a huge fan of pho. I got their special, the Beef Medley House Special, because I love my meats. It had a huge rib, oxtail, brisket, etc. At first, I thought it was a bit pricey for $24 but once I saw the amount of meat it came with, I felt like it was actually a pretty good deal!! The broth is soooo rich and flavorful. Unlike some places that use a lot of MSG or powder stock, I can tell this place actually made their broth from scratch!! I also tried the egg rolls and the grilled sausage rolls, they were both delicious!! Service was amazing as usual (I think they're the same owners as Muraya as I noticed some of the items were still available on the menu!! They still have the crispy rice, my all time fave, and the stone hot pots) I will definitely be coming back to Pho La Vache. I'm happy I don't need to drive to OC for pho now :) There aren't too many good pho places in the area that hit the spot but this is probably going to be my new go to spot for pho.

Yelp
An incredible experience. You'd never know you're in LA because of how nice and attentive the staff here are. We made a connection with every member of the staff at some point during our time. I get family-owned and ran vibes being here. I wasn't able to have the peanut sauce of the shrimp summer rolls so the staff went above in giving me a ginger sauce (which was tasty). My partner and I got shrimp summer rolls to start and then chicken breast pho. The pho beef broth was easily some of the best I had, little to no oil on the top of the broth. They absolutely do not skimp on the meat. The staff came by and asked if we wanted more noodles, free of charge, but by that point, I was already slurping the remaining broth from the side of the bowl. Easily a place to deserve only 5-star ratings. Anything less and you're the problem, not them.

Yelp
great new restaurant on larchmont. service is friendly, attentive, and quick. the rib bone pho is amazing and very tender. definitely a great addition to the block
google avatar

Yelp
Great service, and good pho. Only Vietnamese in Larchmont. Definitely higher price but with the context of location it is understandable.

David K.

Yelp
Most amazing pho I've ever had after living in Asia and across the U.S. for decades. Full stop. Throw in the cozy and classy seating and the fun conversation with owners, and you can see why I and my girlfriend pretty much wish we could live here! Oxtail, beef rib, and crispy rice spicy tuna - must haves!! World class.

Merlynne G.

Yelp
So good! Are it all before we even got around to taking a pic. Will be back for sure! Broth was clear and delicious, my husband had the beef rib 10/10 and I got the chicken! The interior was great too, music wasn't too loud and service was quick and excellent.
google avatar

Hee K.

Yelp
Almost edible. We live in the area and were excited to try this place. We ordered the tofu and pork vermicelli salads. I wasn't expecting Westminster/O.C. quality but this tasted like the chef had only seen photos of bun salad. It looked fine but tasted like Panda Express. Also, everything was super sweet. Next time, I'd rather deal with the bad parking and head over to some Ktown Vietnamese restaurants. They may not be authentic but at least they are edible and have some Vietnamese qualities.
google avatar

Eva K.

Yelp
Delicious! We've eaten here a couple of times: Crispy Tuna Rice, Fried Gyoza, and Tofu Vermicelli are all delightful. (We haven't had the Pho yet. I know, I know.) Very flavorful. I love how this is walkable from our home, and the staff are so friendly. Can't wait to try more dishes! Would definitely recommend this spot as a great restaurant to check out on Larchmont Blvd. or in the Hollywood/LA area in general.
google avatar

Maggie G.

Yelp
Delicious vegan pho!! Perfectly balanced! Owners are very sweet & attentive. The interior is very cute & cozy. We'll be back!

Yelp
Excellent Pho !!! New to this area for work but live in a city where there are many pho restaurants but by this far this place beats them all. So tasty and hearty , generous portions and excellent service !
google avatar

Ashley F.

Yelp
I actually felt the need to write this review even before I ordered and received my food. The service and owners were just THAT amazing already!!! I swear they make you feel like you are dining in their home! Once the food came out, it just solidified everything else. Original Pho broth was soooo pure and magical. We also tried the beef stone pot and garlic noodles. No complaints with anything at all. I would 100% recommend this place to everyone I know who loves pho or even first time pho people!! Will definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Sammi H.

Yelp
Ever since moving to LA from San Jose I terribly miss having easy access to yummy pho. The pho here is a close reminder of home and I'm go glad I live nearby! Definitely recommend! Plus attentive service :)

Nick K.

Yelp
The best in town! Can't describe how tasty it is. The house egg rolls are incredible and service always quick and top notch. Highly recommend!
google avatar

GR F.

Yelp
Pleasant restaurant with comfortable seating. Sat on the patio area. One problem were the flies. Food was a bit underwhelming. Nothing special but we were hungry. Service was quick and attentive. We went on a Sunday during the farmers market.

Joy S.

Yelp
The broth is outstanding!!!! I would go here and be happy with just a gallon sized bowl of broth!!! The bahn mi was so tasty and had a nice local touch as they get their fresh made bread from Clark Street Bakery!!!!! Great service!!!
google avatar

Harper M.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I are OBSESSED with Pho La Vache. It's the best pho we've ever had. The broth, noodles, and toppings ratios are absolutely perfect. The spring rolls are amazing and fresh, we also love the gyoza. I really want to try to crispy tuna (my girlfriend doesn't like tuna) BUT I'm sure they are amazing. Big shout out to the boss-ass woman whose running the show. She's so sweet and the service is consistently awesome. Honorable mention, the music is all throwback bangers. 10/10 recommended this place
google avatar

Yelp
While strolling the smell from this kitchenette is simply irresistible so we checked inside and we got Classic Pho & Shrimp Pho , just perfect for a chilly night. So tasty and delicious. They serve extra noodles too The service and food are great. Will definitely come back.
google avatar

Sam H.

Yelp
Excellent service and good. The vegan pho with beef broth is so flavorful and authentic as well as the beef hot rock. Probably some of the best food we've had in a while and will definitely be back.
google avatar

Kimberly P.

Yelp
This restaurant is small but so nice! The staff were friendly and attentive. I ordered a classic pho with brisket and assorted veggies. The broth was flavorful and the brisket was nice and light. The veggies included carrots, baby bok choy, mushrooms, & pumpkin. I had never had these veggies in pho but they were really good! Would definitely come back!

Ted C.

Yelp
The pho here is so good. Reminds me of having pho at my Vietnamese friends house as a kid. Broth so hearty. Steak so tender and perfectly thin. I usually get a com tam but the pho is amazing here. Hard to pass up. I will be back.
google avatar

arnold c.

Yelp
The place is clean, the waitress is very friendly and pho is very good. Its on the pricier side for pho, but it is in Larchmont.
google avatar

Alyssa L.

Yelp
Best pho i've had in LA! The owner Jay is super kind and I love the ambiance. Ordered the classic pho with brisket and rare steak and it was PHENOMENAL will def be coming back

Phattharaporn S.

Yelp
New pho restaurant in Larchmonth Village. The vibe is really nice. I think their beef combo is a must-try. It might look pricey ($24) but the amount of meat is actually impressive for the price and location. The egg rolls are very good for starter. My favorite is surprisingly the vermicelli noodles (tofu!!). The sauce is very delicious. Servers are very friendly. They reheated the spring rolls for me to take home.
google avatar

Chris D.

Yelp
Excellent food--arguably the best Pho in Larchmont and possibly all of Ktown. Though the prices are slightly higher than average, the quality is well worth it. The noodles are superb, and the pork is incredibly tender. The service is quick, efficient, and dependable. The ambiance is relaxed, making it a great spot for a first date. The venue is small, so personal space is limited. We tried the beef Pho, and it was exceptional. Definitely a must try if your Viet or want authentic mouthwatering food.
google avatar

Wendy Q.

Yelp
Broth here is delicious! I've been to many authentic pho restaurants and this is definitely one of them. The egg rolls and shrimp spring rolls are also great! So excited this is now in the neighborhood. Great service too, and dog friendly with outside seating!
google avatar

Christine P.

Yelp
Love my pho! Low salt, no msg, low fat and super fresh and tasty. Very clean nice place with super high-quality food. I will be coming back again soon. Loved the service here over everything, the staff really gave us recommendations and went over the menu very well with us. They were busy but, they still was friendly and personable so that definitely giving it a 4 star for me.
google avatar

Jin P.

Yelp
Rejoice my friends there is finally a pho restaurant in Larchmont! After having a night out in LA the next morning has to start at Pho La Vache! Honestly after trying their pho, I'd come back for any meal of the week. Some of yall might time $24 dollars for for pho? But it comes with a big fat beef rib! Bludso's rib alone is around that price so this is def a deal in my book! I don't know what it is but the broth is legit one of the best I've tried (maybe the bone from the beef rib deepens the flavor?) whatever it is, this pho is def banging! Besides the pho, I've tried the crispy rice with spicy tuna, egg roll, and spring roll butlet me tell you, that spicy tuna is better than most sushi restaurants. The egg roll and spring rolls are also solid, not like the garbage soggy egg rolls you get at some of the nearby pho restaurants. If you are in the area and looking for a restaurant that will actually excite you to come back try their other dishes, you have to try this place. Thank you for opening up and I'll definitely be back for the oxtail pho!
google avatar

sam C.

Yelp
A welcoming addition to Larchmont's food scene! The staff is attentive, and the food is served quickly. This makes it a great option if you're looking for a place where you must "get in and get out" during lunch breaks. The pho here is exceptional, especially considering the area. Pho is my number one comfort food, and I'm glad there's now a restaurant on this street serving it at such a high standard. It's quite easy to end up with mediocre pho in LA. What sets this place apart are its flavor and consistency. Having tried many pho places locally, I can confidently say that this place is a cut above the rest in LA. The broth is served hot and packed with flavor, and the rice noodles are actually bottomless. I've been here twice so far and have no complaints; the consistency is appreciated. Additionally, there's a generous amount of meat in the 'special' that I order. The meat is tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked. Coupled with the bottomless noodles, this ensures you leave satisfied.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is very tasty. Got the things in the photo, all amazing. Added some extra rare steak to the beef medley so it was a decent amount of meat. Plus Diet Coke, Thai tea, and Vietnamese coffee!!! Powerful meal. Shrimp rolls were better than the last few places I had tried recently. Owner lady is nice and funny. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Edric G.

Yelp
We live in the neighborhood and wanted to give this spot a try. My wife and I loved the Pho along with the sizzling pot rice. Quality soup, incredible beef rib, reasonable price to portion. Will certainly come back again with my dogs
google avatar

Sumin P.

Yelp
I had a great experience at Pho La Vache. The warm welcoming upon entering the restaurant and the clean, modern ambiance immediately caught my attention. The oxtail pho I ordered was simply delicious. what impressed me the most was the broth; it wasnt greasy or tasted like MSG. The egg rolls I ordered were crunchy and packed with flavor. The service I received was outstanding. I'm delighted that there's now a pho restaurant in Larchmont. I'm already looking forward to my next visit:)

Kim N.

Yelp
What a lovely pho place nestled in Larchmont village. I was craving pho and was so happy this place opens earlier than all the other pho places in town. I ordered the rare steak pho and the egg rolls. Both were delicious. The place was very clean and spacious. I wlll definitely go back.
google avatar

Carolyn C.

Yelp
My husband and I are pho snobs and we can say without reservation that Pho La Vache has the best pho in LA. The broth in the beef rib pho is just incomparable, incredible flavor that continues until you've finished the dish. Their rib and oxtail meat literally falls off the bone and is so tender and flavorful! We have come almost weekly to this restaurant and have loved becoming regulars. Jay is the owner and takes great pride and diligence in the excellence in his food. Stephanie is our fave waitress, so sweet and attentive and remembers all of our little quirks and preferences. We have been telling all of our friends to come here. Get the beef rib pho or the beef medley, you will become hooked and dream about this pho, I guarantee it.

Yelp
Delicious, big meat portions, great service one of the best Pho restaurants in LA currently
