Pho Mai is a Vietnamese and Chinese fusion spot with a very solid, comforting, and clean tasting menu.
Service is friendly and kind. If you dine in, they will offer to show you how to eat certain things if it's your first time trying Vietnamese food.
Because they are Vietnamese and Chinese fusion, their pho broth is actually more milky and rich compared to the traditional clear broth types. The milkiness comes from the broth making process. It's not actually dairy! If you're looking for more traditional style pho, this may not be for you, but it's still really tasty if you're willing to give it a try.
Their nuoc mam (dipping sauce) is on the spicier side. My partner loves it. This is another thing that makes Pho Mai a little different compared to some of the other classic Vietnamese spots in the valley.
Usually, they are pretty consistent, but the one time we made a to go order, our thit nuong (grilled pork) was not the best. We unfortunately got really fatty pieces and while I love fatty meats when they're cooked right, it ended up being really tough and hard to eat all together with my meal. Otherwise, we've had great experiences dining in.
They're located in a plaza and we've never had issues finding parking close by to the restaurant. They can accommodate medium sized groups.
If you were ever looking for something a little different than your usual style Vietnamese cuisine, Pho Mai is definitely worth visiting at least once!
