A Burger and Brunch Bar Expands to Old Town and Four More Openings to Know - Eater Chicago

"Pho No. 1 Brewing Company, a Vietnamese brewery, opened last weekend, according to a Facebook post. Like its sibling Pho No. 1 Vietnamese Cuisine in Portage Park, it will serve pho, noodle salads, and chicken wings. The brewery is still under construction, but in the meantime, there’s a craft brew bar." - Naomi Waxman

I love Pho, Ramen, Udon and such like, so any place that has such will pique my interest The addition of a brewery makes it a certainty I ordered the Pho with the brazilian steak. It came with fresh vegetables to add, and the soup itself was quite good. The meat was meaty with just a little fat to give it flavor. The broth was perfect, just a bit salty without being overly so. All the included veggies were perfect, and the noodles were the perfect consistency to compliment everything I got the pear cider as my first beer and the Viet coffee stout for my second. The cider was dry and had a hint of sweetness. The viet coffee stout was a little light on the coffee flavor, but still good Now, you might think that any type of soup and beer is an odd combination, and I would agree with you. Next time I come I'll probably either get the Pho and a different drink, or the beer and a different food The fact that i said I'll be back tells you that I enjoyed the location, I'm just a bit confused at the food and drink connection

I read the Google reviews of this place and I was really looking forward to trying some authentic Vietnamese food. I do have to say that the Vietnamese food here is authentic, however, the food quality I think is subpar. I ordered the Pho beef noodle soup, and I couldn't believe the huge amount of rice noodle that came with my Pho. It was too much. Had I known that, I would've asked for "light or easy" rice noodles. The Pho broth tasted wonderful, authentic, and flavorful. The dining area is aestheticly nice with bright lights that give a more modern vibe to it. I was surprised to see that Pho No.1 Brewing Co doesn't serve banh mi sandwiches on their menu. Banh mi sandwiches is a staple and a well known Vietnamese cuisine that many Vietnamese restaurant serve it. But I guess Pho No.1 Brewing makes up for that with other cuisine on their menu.

Imagine driving 45 minutes to an hour to Argyle for pho every weekend… Now imagine NOT driving that far for top-notch Pho / Vietnamese ever again. Pho No 1 Brewing Co is authentic and delicious. The restaurant is incredibly clean, serves pho with elevated meat options (aged NY beef!!) that rivals any pho shop in America, and best yet, they’re not stingy portion sizes. I also noticed they’re opening an outdoor patio 👀😍 So so good, thank you for coming to the western suburbs!!

It was my first time to come here. There were a number of customers eating. But there was nobody in the restaurant to greet us. Like everybody was in the kitchen. Idk. We waited for about 15minutes. Still nobody came out. We could have went in and take the empty tables but wanted to be patient until we went in the back and ask someone to come out and check. Took a while to wait. But it was good. Food was great.

I went there with my fiancé last Sunday and the food was really good. I had the special combination beef pho and my fiancé had the beef and flank pho. We also ordered the caramelized fish sauce wings. For the price, you get a pretty decent size bowl of pho. It may look like it wouldn’t fill you up but my fiancé and I couldn’t finish the soup and he usually finishes everything and then some. The price of the wings on the other hand is a bit pricey. You get 6 pieces with rice and some pickled carrots and cabbage. The flavor choices are interesting and I wanted to try the caramelized fish sauce wings because I love savory things and it was delicious. The waitress was attentive and respectfully had her mask up whenever she came over to check on us. I live walking distance from this place and been in the neighborhood long enough to see a few bars and a soda fountain shop come and go at this location. This place is a nice change and I hope it sticks around. We will definitely go back to try other items on the menu and when their craft beers are ready.

Nice to see a new(?) spot in my old neighborhood. Enjoyed a very generous bowl of pho while seated at the bar. Restaurant has a nice interior, decor, and seating all around. Ordered and pictured here is Crispy Crab Rangoon and 21d Picanha Pho. Pretty cool they brew their own beers - enjoyed a Pale Ale and an Imperial Spiced Stout. Wouldn't mind stopping in again if around the area.

I had dinner here. I ordered the crab rangoon for an appetizer & it was just ok (A little on the greasy side) I had the tofu Spring rolls which were good but the clear star of the show was the beef pho! The soup was served in a big bowl & another small plate was served with additional veggies you can add. I sipped on the broth first because i wanted to warm up and the broth was so flavorful! Once I added everything to my broth it was the perfect meal for a cold Winter night.

Phenomenal and unfussy place. Visited for the first time between lunch and dinner. Had the most basic bowl of phở. Each phở purveyor should have its own fingerprint, a unique stamp as to what makes its broth special. This place has it. Looking forward to many returns.
