It's been a while since I've been downtown to the Ossington strip. If you're not familiar, it's an area on Ossington Ave, between Queen St W and Dundas St W, that has a ton of great trendy restaurants.
I happened to be downtown with friends and we were hungry so we wandered over to the strip, looking for some great food. Almost all of the restaurants were packed with a dinner crowd. We tried a few places and they couldn't accommodate us.
Finally, we came across Pho Rùa Vàng Golden Turtle, a Vietnamese restaurant. Their patio was packed but they had a table available inside.
We ordered a couple of appetizers, a couple of vermicelli dishes, and a couple of pho (soup) dishes for the four of us.
All the food arrived quickly and we dove in. The appetizers and vermicelli dishes were nicely presented and very tasty. The vermicelli dishes, beef and chicken, were my favorites of the evening. The meats were nicely seasoned and cooked.
The pho dishes were a little disappointing. Although tasty, the meat and overall portions seemed to be a bit on the small side, especially compared to almost all the uptown places I've been to.
Overall, however, the food and experience were good. Although busy, the restaurant was clean, bright, and the staff were efficient, friendly, and fast.
