14 Essential James Island Restaurants to Visit | Eater Carolinas

"Ramen shops are the current trendy rage, but what’s better than a classic Vietnamese pho restaurant? Find nine varieties of the aromatic soup, alongside a menu full of Vietnamese hits like pork spring rolls and stir-fried noodles. Great for dining in or taking to go for a cozy dinner on the couch." - Parker Milner

The pho was pretty good. The Vietnamese pancake we had was really good! The host was extremely warm and inviting, but you could tell the restaurant was very short staffed, we had a bit of a longer waiting time for our meal. The atmosphere was dim and relaxing. There’s also a cute robot that helps deliver your meals. I think this restaurant has great 5 star potential with a little more help.

Google
I loved Pho Saigon! The treatment was amazing. Our server was kind and welcoming. The food is a little pricey, but that's Charleston for you! The Vegetable Pho was amazing. The broth was so delicious, and I can't say the same thing about every other broth. They're not the same. I also like it when the broth is nice and hot as I expect, and this was. Their summer rolls were nice and and very delicious. I usually don't like the peanut butter sauces in most places, but this one looked so edible that I actually had it. It had chunks of peanuts on top. I usually tend to have the summer rolls with hot oil and soy sauce. I added some of their peanut sauce here. Their summer rolls were made fresh and didn't have any hard pieces like other places. They also have a cute robot that brings the food to our table. This was the most amazing entertainment for me. It was too cute to see it find it's way around to our table and others to deliver food and back to the kitchen. Please see my videos. The location is very clean and tidy. I will definitely be returning.

Google
It’s a quiet and sparse restaurant but the menu is extensive and the Chinese style food we ordered was fantastic. We ordered 3 entrees for 4 people (2 adults/ 2 toddlers) and we ate it all. The service was good, the waitress was kind and cool under pressure, despite being a bit busy. They even have this neat little robot waiter that the kids loved. Highly recommend and will be returning and ordering for take out.

I stopped into today for the first time. I tried to go last Tuesday but found out that’s the one day they’re closed. To start I had the shrimp and lettuce wraps. These are literally exactly what they say. The peanut sauce was tasty that went with the wraps and they’re a good sharing item for two people. Then I went with the spicy beef broth bowl with pork and beef. This was filling and full of flavor. There was only one guy out front eating his lunch and waiting tables so it wasn’t very busy and the food came out really fast. I’ll be back.

Google
This is the most authentic Vietnamese food I’ve had since my childhood when I was living with a Vietnamese family in high school. We had pho every morning for breakfast and this tasted the same. Fresh ingredients and traditional foods are difficult to find. I love this hole in the wall pho spot! Thanks for the great meal. I can’t wait to come again with the family.

Google
A wonderful place for a great bowl of Pho and an incredible fresh shrimp roll. My buddy Justin and I were in town and decided we were looking for a solid Pho lunch. The interior is warm and the staff nice. Great meal, fresh ingredients and a solid lunch for both of us. Justin was pleasurably surprised by the quality of the food! Wow

Google
To be frank, I’m not sure how to best organize this review. We’ve had pho in five states and three different countries and Pho Saigon is hands down the worst Vietnamese food we’ve ever had. The noodles in my wife’s pho tasted old and soggy, there was no basil, the flavor was extremely bland, and there was barely any meat. My son’s ramen was obviously of the prepackaged variety with old, leftover chicken. A cup-a-noodle would’ve been far superior to that. My house special fried rice contained the oldest, mushiest shrimp that I’ve ever had and the overall dish was bland. Despite there being barely any customers, the restaurant was filthy. The condiments and our table was sticky from whatever was leftover from the previous customers and the male restroom seemed more suited for a shady truck stop. What’s infuriating and disappointing about the whole awful experience is the fact that it costs $65 and the wait staff have the audacity to ask for a 20-25% tip. Out of respect for Vietnamese culture, restaurants everywhere, and basic human decency, this restaurant needs to be shut down.

Google
So here’s the digs on this place I had the highest of hopes of. It was extremely underwhelming…I entered to no greeting but that’s understandable it’s a small restaurant with limited overhead. When I was seen I was still not greeted but sent to sit anywhere. I was given a menu and less than a minute later the guy ask what do you want…I said a beer to start then proceeded to look at the options. I knew I had to be quick because he seemed bothered and it was just me and one other person there. Ordered the V16 which is the chicken Pho. It came out in under 3 minutes which was a little scary but hey it was fast. Well the reason was clear as I added my veggies from the elegant foam plate they were displayed on and squeezed the closed dated lime into the Pho mixture and took my first taste of the chicken I knew I was tricked! I went for a second taste and it was the revelation needed to determine this was aging rotisserie chicken from the Harris Teeter near by. I know the taste of the seasoning in their chicken like the back of my hand and so I went past it to find the good. The broth very tasty and hearty then we got to the noodles…smh. Vermicelli is Italian not Vietnamese and the noodles were definitely not the standard rice based noodles that go with Pho so it was a little chewy and disappointing to say the least. I hope that this is read and they go back to not cutting corners, when I come to a place like this I don’t need fast food I need good, authentic, and well presented food. Now here is the turn around…the waiter finally came over and spoke and he is an awesome guy! Sonny gets a big shout out. He heard my grievances and immediately fixed it! The owner came out and it was awesome! They laid out some decent offerings and totally apologized for the poor chicken! Gave me the V27 it s slapped! Give them a shot and ask for Sony

Yelp
This is my faaaavorite restaurant in Charleston for Pho! I have been to a couple other places but the rich depth and flavor of the broth is sorely lacking! I lived in the Midwest for 7 years and because of the extreme winters, a lot of Vietnamese restaurants know how to do good pho. That's not the case here in Charleston. I always ask for extra onions, basil, and lime. So so good! It makes me wanna dance everytime I eat a bowl of pho from this place. I can't comment on the other dishes as I' always get the same thing.

Yelp
This is a family owned local business and they get Pho. Yes, you can get noodle dishes, but their Pho is some of the finest in the area. The staff is "efficient". When you order, you get your meal or appetizers in minutes. They truly are efficient. This is a great place for take out as well. There are beer options as well. Consistently good and high quality food with good customer service!!!

Yelp
This is a good pho spot in the charleston area. It is in the plaza with Harris Teeter grocery store. There are several tables inside, with chopsticks and spoons and a diverse menu with chinese options along wirh vietnamese soups, vermicelli dishes, and rice plates. The seating area is spacious and was kept clean. The pricing is reasonable, about 13 to 15 dollars for a bowl of pho. I ordered pho dac biet. The beef was of great quality, the meatballs were good, overall a good comforting dish. The broth was a bit less flavorful than i expected but the flavor was still quite enjoyable . The waitress was very kind and helpful, at one point i had my glass empty and she apologized for not offering to refill my glass. I would revisit here again for some quick pho.

Yelp
Pho: wow! Served with plate of lettuce! Yes! Lettuce wtf no bean sprouts Beef broccoli: beef was super dry! Rice with seafood : bland Vietnamese coffee: not so Vietnamese I

Yelp
We had excellent service and excellent food. Every time we come here, it is consistent and wonderful. I even got offered a glass of wine for being a mom!
google avatar

Lovelle N.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant and ambiance. Good Vietnamese food. I got the chicken Bahn mi and the baguette was perfectly crispy and very fresh vegetables. Also a coke was included with the meal. Good service from the owner who explained the dishes to us.

Kathleen P.

Yelp
We used to love this food but the last two times it's been not up to par. Sesame chicken no flavor huge chunks of chicken not at all what we usually get. Pad Tia was so awful I couldn't eat it. Each dish was $18.95 and so overwhelmingly awful. We won't be back.
google avatar

Christina C.

Yelp
I had their shrimp vermicelli dish. Although it's nothing special, it's a very solid dish. I was even shocked by the tiny shrimp pieces and tons of greens, and lack of anything else. Basic, but solid comfort food :) I've been to too many places where Asian dishes get butchered so badly...
google avatar

Jackie D.

Yelp
The absolute worst Pho I've ever had they serve their to go in a styrofoam container also and it leaked everywhere. The noodles were awful.

Lucy S.

Yelp
DO NOT EAT HERE! We found a fingernail in our food when we went there for to go order. The manager is claiming that we made it up and she was defensive immediately. Why would I make that up? I'm pregnant and I gave her a large tip for just bagging up my food. I didn't even ask for my money back at first I just wanted some answers to whose fingernail that was and why was it so freaking long. Do they not wear gloves? Do they not trim their nails when handling food? I have a feeling it might have been her fingernail and that's why she got so defensive. Not only did we find a nail in our food but before that the food is just not good. We paid $55 for two meals and it was not good at all before we found the nail. The portions are so small. You can tell they are already struggling with how their food tasted and the way it looked. They are cutting corners. so not only is the food disgusting but it's unsanitary. Save yourself money and time and go somewhere else. I pray they go out of business soon.
google avatar

Yelp
Great quick bite. Two for lunch and both meals were very good. Delicious, healthily cooked, reasonably priced. Can't ask for more than that.

Yelp
Pho Saigon is a great little place in the middle of a shopping center with a very family feel in the ambience. My brother was in town for this one and our waiter seemingly read our minds to provide us with an excellent beer suggestion without having to ask for one, which was noted and appreciated. Food was hot, served quickly, cheap, and good, so I'll be back. Given that Pho Saigon is close, I sense that this is the start to a long relationship.
google avatar

Victoria B.

Yelp
I've eaten at Pho Saigon time after time and have never been disappointed. Food is great, prices are fair, and quality is consistent. The ambiance and service are average at best. But I'll be back. A pho place like this in Charleston is a gem.

Luz B.

Yelp
Food is amazing!! Staff are so kind!! This is the best place in Charleston for PHO it is literally amazing!!! Please try it!! Very clean place!

Natalie H.

Yelp
Lunched at Pho Saigon on Wednesday, great service, atmosphere and food! The service was welcoming and fun, my first time ordering Pho. The server was very knowledgeable, helpful and you could tell she enjoyed working with customers to know the product so you would enjoy coming back! Pho is a delicate broth with noodles and your choice of protein. You can add additional sprouts, fresh basil, cilantro and other seasonings to your taste. We also had the option to add steamed vegetables. The service was prompt, food was hot and delicious! Great for a chilly winter day! We'll definitely return or pickup for take out!

Aisha D.

Yelp
the best beef pho of Charleston! My first time coming to the restaurant with family and the food is amazing with the perfect waitress that helps with the dining experience. thank you Fiona

Yelp
I've been here once for dine in and once for takeout and both experiences were great. Either way, you want to start with the Cha Gio Thit (spring rolls)... probably one order per person. They come with 2 for six bucks but you won't want to share and the dipping sauce is perfect. For pho, I've had the Pho Tai Bo Vien (rare beef with meatballs) and the Pho Bo Vien (beef meatballs). This last time for takeout I got both because I wanted leftovers and I think I like the meatballs more than the rare beef so I'd stick with that one in the future. The takeout packaging was great and they weren't skimpy with any of the toppings. Plenty of bean sprouts, greenery, and sauce (although I think they mixed hot sauce and hoisin together which they should keep seperate). We could always use more pho places in town, but we do have a handful of good ones and Pho Saigon is definitely one of them.

Steve R.

Yelp
I found the meal here, on a Sat. night to be totally disgusting and way, way overpriced. Guess I am very spoiled because having a decent Asian mean in the NE (Pennsylvania) was not hard to do. Food was greasy, not tasty at all and clearly had "recooked" food items for a Vermicilli dish. Could not eat it. Have only found one decent Chinese restaurant, but in my world, a new restaurant gets only one shot to make an impression, won't be going back here any time soon.
google avatar

Jennifer F.

Yelp
My husband picked up our dinner from here. He read awesome reviews about it and we both love Pho. I got V8. Pho Dac Biet Beef Meatballs, Fatty Flank & Rare Beef Slices and he got V27. Bun Bo Hue Spicy beef broth, rice noodles, ground pork and ground chicken mixed, rare beef, fatty flank beef. We also got a side of fried rice and an order of egg rolls. The egg rolls were delicious, the fried rice wasn't really good. My pho was disappointing. It was tasty but not what I'm used to when it comes to pho and I barely got any meat. I think I got 2 slices of the flank and beef and I literally got 2 slices of a meatball. It was disappointing. My husband's soup was good but he wasn't thrilled. From the pictures it looks like their food is amazing. Maybe I will try them in person instead.

Yelp
Back for a second time to this Vietnamese/Asian restaurant. It's located in the Harris Teeter shopping center. I ordered the chicken pho again and I can now say the quality is consistently good. Food quality is great. Service is quick and friendly I usually only give three stars to a restaurant that's new to me unless I am completely blown away. I can now highly recommend Saigon pho. The chicken pho comes with loads of chicken and noodles in a nice broth. It is served with a side plate of lime, bean sprouts, cilantro or basil and jalapenos. The portion size is immense and I usually have to take some home. Their Asian menu is pretty extensive. It also looks like they do a brisk takeout service. If you are looking for a healthier dining experience you can't go wrong here
google avatar

Robbie F.

Yelp
Delicious!! My server, Fiona, was super kind, attentive, hard-working & sweet; food was fresh & great, & the ambience was some of the best I've honestly seen in the city of Charleston. Would highly recommend this hidden gem of a restaurant to anyone living or visiting in Charleston.

Yelp
Was here for work in Charleston felt like having PHo welll let me tell you 1.place was clean good only 1 server 2. Very poor food portion only 5 pcs of the meat was chewy only thing good is the broth no basil or mint leaves were givin only cilantro 3 ordered spring roll they horrible they had very little noodle should have called it spring lettuce wrap If this is the best in Charleston South carolina has to offer well disapointment 4 California Pho is way better more better portions for same price Dont waste your time it not authentic vetnamese its catered to local ppl
google avatar

Curtis R.

Yelp
This place used to be amazing. It seems to continue to go down hill as prices go up. They've increased pricing, service has been mediocre, and food is smaller in quantity. Need to find another place for chinese/Vietnamese on JI.
google avatar

Maya S.

Yelp
New owners are greedy and selfish in all aspects and it shows. I was a regular, but severely dissatisfied and disappointed with my last visit. Overpriced and low quality food has replaced what was once my favorite pho spot in all of CHS. Not only that, but I recently heard that they are actively trying to steal their employees tips. Do better.
google avatar

Grace M.

Yelp
This has become one of my go to places over the years. I find it that I love their Pho Ga so much that it's hard for me to try anything else from their menu. I promise I will try something different soon but for now the Pho Ga is the best comfort food and is always delicious. I definitely recommend eating in person, I've noticed a huge difference in the quality.

Angie S.

Yelp
Do not eat here. I believe the old owners sold the place or either there are new cooks. Either way it was bad. I have eaten here for years and it does not compare to what it use to be. The cold noodle bowls was not rice noodles, looked more like like spaghetti noodles. They do not give you enough fish sauce if you order to go. You get way too much rabbit food in the bowl like the greens. For these prices if should have been a lot better. I will never eat here again and I love Vietnamese food. you can find better places than this. Save you money.
google avatar

Dan'Vy L.

Yelp
The food may be authentic, but the combinations definitely aren't. There aren't many Vietnamese restaurants in the Charleston area so I was pretty excited to see we had one, especially with the "famous" Vietnamese name of "Pho Saigon". I ordered the pork chop and spring rolls. The seasoning was off, being from Vietnam and having grown up on authentic Vietnamese food I know for a fact that there is so much wrong with the cooking practices done here. Although the preparation isn't correctly executed I can't overlook the fact that the food wasn't half bad. I can't say that I'll be returning but I do appreciate the effort.
google avatar

Opal D.

Yelp
First time having pho in SC--it was very good. Their fresh rolls don't come with a peanut sauce; the sauce it came with wasn't my favorite. We will definitely be back!

Lizzie M.

Yelp
My significant other and I frequented this place three times a month. This flavors and customer service were absolutely phenomenal. Even more than the food , We loved Sonny. Sonny recently is no longer with them. New management or ownership or whatever. Things have gone completely down hill in my opinion. Broth isn't nearly as good and they're having a robot serve tables (which also takes tips). The PRICES have gone up an insane amount. I will pay anything for good pho but not the product they now have. $13 to $19-$30?! It breaks my heart this is what it's come to! If I had known there was going to be new management I would have bought 20 pints of their V8 and frozen it. Pho dac biet with extra meatballs, cilantro, and mung bean sprouts was my death row meal. I wish Sonny would come back. I've attached some reviews ( names cut out obviously ) from some fellow food and bev hospitality people who used to love this place

Samuel R.

Yelp
Horrible service The waiter was in a hurry and didn't even wait for us to order all our food before walking away Great food Very good pho and general tso
google avatar

Grayson L.

Yelp
We came into the restaurant at 6:00pm while it was still empty and ordered two appetizers and two orders of pho (one chicken and one beef). We did not receive our pho until 7:30pm. We repeatedly watched the tables around us receive their orders and were told that ours was ready and it would be out shortly. The server and owner gave different excuses about the kitchen staff, one being that they were brand new, while the other said they were quitting in two days and were not motivated to work. Upon receiving the food we discovered how bland it was. The chicken was fatty and almost inedible and the "rare" beef was fully brown and tough. Although this dish is the restaurant's namesake, it might be the most unreliable on the menu. Nothing was done to rectify the situation as we were stuck with the $70 bill. Despite our frustration we left a 20% tip for the waitress after the stress she endured, even though she didn't really deserve it. We never got drink refills and were only given one fork and napkin from the getgo. Side note, prices on the menu were around $4-$5 more in person than listed online. The bathroom was also pretty nasty. Overall, just a really poor restaurant experience, we will not be returning.

Yelp
!!!!!Rude server warning!!!!! The server was really rude towards us. He didn't talk to us at all and just pointed things out when we asked extra a bowl and a spoon. However, we saw he was really friendly towards other customers to a point he would belch out his life story and tourist recommendations to them. The server did not even fill our water even once and mostly grunted when we asked politely for things we needed. We just felt really uncomfortable. The food was good, but I will never go back!

Yelp
I've been a few times recently. Some of the best summer rolls I've had, and huge! Great peanut dipping sauce. The Pho was also excellent. Subtle but Knisley flavored broth, all the accoutrements accept basil (??) tender meat, delicious, meatballs, etc. I do like how they slice the meatballs instead of leaving them hole. Had a pad Thai on another visit and it was also excellent. Spicy, but not too spicy... Very good and well priced.

Sandy F.

Yelp
I'd been an excellent customer at Pho Saigon for several years... until tonight when the extremely belligerent so-called "owner" came out and screamed at me and was rude and almost violent. It was because I ordered chicken and they brought me a cold dish of pork with rice. I'd told them time after time that I do not eat pork or beef, yet they insisted that the pork was chicken. I said, "I've been a customer here for years" ... to which he replied, "I don't care! Don't come back here. You're a troublemaker!" It was hard to believe he was the restauranteur since he looked like a homeless guy who just came in out of the gutter. He was a total slob. I took a picture of the dish they served me and asked a friend of mine who is a chef to tell me if it was pork or chicken. She knew right away that it was pork. I feel bad for the girls at Pho Saigon who are very sweet, but I would never eat there again!
google avatar

Tim T.

Yelp
I'd maybe go back to try the Vietnamese, but would recommend against the Chinese. My partner's General Tso's chicken was pretty much all bread and over fried. My chicken and vegetables looked and was good for the top half. But the lower half of the plate was in a thick gooey sauce that was very unappetizing. It didn't taste bad but its only flavor was some salt. What was bad is how it sat in my stomach like a big lump afterwards. I'd hope for their sake they make better Vietnamese food, seeing as it's a Vietnamese restaurant.
google avatar

Vincent T.

Yelp
Customer service is exceptional! The waiter was attentive to our needs. However the food was sub-par and unauthentic. We ordered two bowls of Pho which were salty, little portion, and unauthentic.
google avatar

Habernero P.

Yelp
Unfortunately this spot does not earn more than 3 stars - the broth is watered down so not much flavor - the beef is very sparse and they do not have basil in the garnish. I am sure there must be better places to get real Vietnamese Pho in the Charleston area but this place does not cut it. Much improvement is needed here in this competitive food market. I am an expert in Pho as I have had here in America and in Vietnam. So please understand where I have tasted and enjoyed real Pho and this just doesn't make it! HH

Xin Z.

Yelp
I ordered V8 beef rice noodle soup and summer roll. The beef rice noodle soup is delicious. The restaurant is clean and cool. I am glad to find this Asian restaurant here, remind me the flavor of NYC and Toronto.
google avatar

Yelp
Great pho! Have dined in and taken to go and it was great both times. I'm also particular about packaging on to go orders because with pho sometimes a poorly packaged order can ruin the meal, and Pho Saigon knocked that out of the park too. Def recommend
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
Best pad thai and best general tso's chicken in town! Awesome pho too! I love the one with quail eggs.
google avatar

Xia Y.

Yelp
I came here because of the raving reviews on pho and I want something comforting and close to home. The food was delicious. The restaurant was clean and the server was really nice. The food also came out very fast and hot.
google avatar

Sarah K.

Yelp
Absolutely the BEST PHO is charleston I've been eating at all kinds of restaurants all over town for almost a year, THIS IS the best pho yet! I shamelessly had it three days in a row!!

Rachel K.

Yelp
Just enjoyed our yummy pho and our lemongrass grilled chicken with steamed rice and broccoli. The service is always nice and helpful. Really like this place.
google avatar

Melissa G.

Yelp
I just discovered Pho Saigon and I was thrilled to have Pho in James Island (OMG we are are a Metropoli now ) The decoration is pretty nice and there are many tables to make sure there is rarely a need to wait. They have a lot of food options like fried rice and pad Thai, but i decided to try the Pho, because, hello? Pho Saigon? I ordered the flank pho which was very tasty. It might not be the best pho I've had, but it's Pho and it's near home so I will coming back for sure.

Yelp
Food: 5 Service: 5 Ambience: 4 Date/Time: 3/5/2018 4:45pm Crowd: 1 table occupied Order: Pad Thai Chicken, Mi Xao Dax Biet This place is in a strip mall next to Harris Teeter and is decorated very nicely! Service is great with a very helpful and friendly server making great recommendations. The food was really great! The concern of ordering in Asian restaurants is knowing what their version of heat levels mean. A 2 level in one restaurant may be a 3 in another, and vice-versa. The server knew her cooks and ordered based on what we wanted vs what she knows how they prepare. Excellent food and service! Highly recommended! ------------------ Food: 5 Service: 4.5 Ambience: 4 Date/Time: 3/8/2018 7:00pm Crowd: 1/2 full Order: Mi Xao Ga (chicken), Mi Xao Dax Biet Back for a 2nd helping! Yes it was that good :-) Service was still great but this server didn't have the same connection with the cooks as she suggested we order the heat level low and brought out the paste they use to create the heat. It's not quite the same as when it's cooked in but still very good. Food was still excellent!

Yelp
I got the seafood pho and it was the best pho I've ever had in my entire life. It was so good before I added the sushi sauce and siracha. I also got the summer rolls. They were good but not amazing and my sister got the lo mein. Again, good but not amazing like the pho. Pho 10/10, summer rolls 7.5/10, lo mein 6/10. The food came out very quickly as well and was hot.

Yelp
Let me start with I've been coming here for quite some time and I've never had the experience that I had today ever. So when I walk in the older gentleman was at the register and then went to the back to tell whomever is working the front a guest was there so I thought. So then I waited maybe 10-12 minutes for someone no big deal. Then theses two guys walk in and the older gentleman is right on it with helping them. I interrupt to tell him that I was already waiting first. So I wait another 5-7 minutes for the hostess to come up. I finally get my food and get home. My noodles were a joke so hard! Yes hard like they weren't cooked enough. So after 3 times popping them in the microwave, no change. The most unappetizing pho I've ever had from them and the odds I go back well you will notice my very generous one star I gave. I get that you guys have made changes and plumped up your portions but you can't fix something things and let the other things fall short.

Anh Tú T.

Yelp
The pho broth is bad, tax rate is 11%?????, and the customer service is horrible. Pho Dac Biet

Yelp
It's petty cool that James Island now has a pho place. Unfortunately, I think they have some growing pains to go through. The staff didn't seem as if they were communicating with each other well, which led to a few mistakes during our meal (wrong item on our check, incorrect ingredients in the pho, etc). Compared to Lanna in North Charleston, I feel that Lanna has a more flavorful soup stock. I will also say that Lanna seems more like authentic Vietnamese food, whereas Pho Saigon seems like it may be better for its American-Chinese dishes. I do prefer the atmosphere of Pho Saigon better than Lanna though. We ordered the summer roll app (that came with two rolls), chicken pho and chicken noodle stir-fry. All three were on their Vietnamese menu. The summer rolls were a bit disappointing. I felt like the presentation could have been refined, but more importantly, it looked like they hadn't deveined the shrimp. That may not bother some, but it bothered me a little. In addition, they served it with a brown, savory/sweet sauce instead of the usual sweet/sour/fish sauce. The pho, as mentioned above, was alright. The stir-fried noodles were pretty good. Overall, I would recommend this place if you're hankering for Vietnamese food and don't want to drive all the way out to North Charleston. Cost: a bit over average compared to what you get.

Yelp
The best Pho in the area. Have gotten it consistently since they opened. If you're feeling under the weather or on a limited diet you can get just the broth and it's literally and figuratively what the doctor ordered.
