Spring 2022 Guide to Greater Boston Restaurant Openings | Eater Boston

"A Vietnamese restaurant emphasizing authentic ingredients sourced from abroad and the U.S. (such as dragon leaves from Vietnam and smoked veal from Texas), offering traditional pho, stir-fries, rice plates, vermicelli bowls, and a beverage program with beer, milk tea, and cocktails." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

The pho here is by far the best in the area. They are also very generous with their portions and the condiments - Thai basil, chili peppers, bean sprouts, lime and so on. So good and a huge selection of other delicious items to choose from if pho isn’t your thing. Highly recommend.

I give this place 4 stars 4 stars for ambiance since the restaurant has good amount of space, well lit. 4 stars for service where they seat you right away. They also give hints of which menu selections were slightly better than others. 4 stars for food variety/menu selection and authenticity in taste; the only reasons why I didn’t give 5 stars: - ca phe sua da (iced Vietnamese coffee) wasn’t served suggesting way with coffee dripping while you wait and you don’t see the condensed milk. It was pre-mixed more like how you get it at boba places! - the caramel fish dish wasn’t caramelized enough, it didn’t have the deep sweet taste as if it was cooked in a clay pot for hours - the bun bo hue had slices of meat mixed in as if they used the same ingredients for beef pho and just added the bun bo hue broth instead of pho broth. But in the end I finally saw the pig feet/hock part. I saw another customer order the shrimp grilled on sugar cane served with rice paper which you wet in a bowl of water to soften and wrap the shrimp with veggies. That’s what I will order next time! I am just slightly disappointed they don’t serve banh xeo!!!

It had a cute ambiance with 90s vibe and our server was excellent. She was also funny and kind. I was not expecting any kind of good meal and was surprised. There were items on the menu I don't see often, especially in the Northeast, and wish I was with a large enough group to order all of them. -- Goi cuon chay was very thick and I was excited to eat it. The peanut sauce was slightly weak but having all the correct sauces at the table meant that wasn't a problem. I was very happy my friend wasn't hungry enough to eat more of this one. In the pho, broth was standard but great. Usually when I go out for pho I don't need much more than a sampler bowl from someone willing to share, but I cried a little inside when I finished my bowl, despite my friend put heaping amounts of beef in it. Beef was very tender and the cuts were gorgeous; not only quality-wise, but the skill of reducing protein fibers to toothpick out of the teeth.. 👌🏻 (TL;DR many restaurants roughly cut meat but the pieces for this were carefully butchered) Bun thit cha gio - the grilled pork could have been more flavorful for me but overall I loved this bowl. The prawns were some of the best I've had in years that both me and my friend were either getting the juices from the skin or eating it altogether. The balance of veggies to protein to noodles was enjoyable. I took the rest of this home to have for brunch the next morning and it fared quite well. We were quietly nibbling throughout the meal with little sounds of happy noms. Successful trip. Excited to come back next time!

The restaurant is located right on the main street in Quincy, though parking can be a bit tricky if the lot next door is full. The menu is diverse, and the space is large and comfortable. Portions are big and generous. Service is quick, Prices are reasonable. The platter rolls was tasty and well-filled, the bún riêu was flavorful, and the phở was decent. They also have a private room available for parties or group gatherings, it’s quite spacious and can probably fit over 20 people.

I ordered takeout today 5/18/25. Fresh spring rolls is missing dipping sauce. Spring rolls doesn't taste the same without dipping sauce. Vermicelli with shrimp and eggs rolls looks pretty sad. One tiny shrimp and small shrimp ball. Not sure if I want to pay $17 next time for this dish. I wouldn't order this dish from Pho 1 next time. Better to order somewhere else.

I think this place is the most authentic viet restaurant I’ve gone to so far. I actually did order pho but banh hoi. The food was amazing, the menu was huge. The waitresses here speak both languages so no problem if you can’t speak viet. Coconut water with grass jelly is also amazing.

Not a fan of the tomato crap noodle dish I ordered. There was barely any taste of crab. The service was slow.

I am a huge Pho fan, have tried many Pho places in NYC and The Greater Boston area. In my opinion, Pho So 1 ranked # 1 of all the Pho I have tried. The broth is rich, can taste a bit salty at first; it balances out when you mix in the herbs and lime. For #14, Pho Dac Biet the XL bowl, they give A LOT of meat! Get the XL bowl if you LOVE Pho <3 I will definitely come back and maybe settle in Quincy, MA for the beautiful beach and this Pho place!
