18 Essential Pho Shops Around D.C. | Eater DC

"This new spot in Bladensburg serves up an assortment of Vietnamese fare. The pho ga, in particular, is a must-try with a savory mix of beef broth and huge chunks of chicken. The steamed rice plates are another attraction worth returning to time and time again. Though the dining room is currently closed, takeout is available for online ordering via Toast Tab." - Mekita Rivas

Unassuming, don't sleep on Bladensburg's Pho Tai 63. Open Thursday through Monday at noon, the parking lot was almost full at 11:50am with people waiting to get inside. It's that good! Dining for lunch with a friend who grew up in Vietnam, we both enjoyed our pho. There are 13 choices and the broth is full of flavor. I order the #4 small and it was plenty of food. It comes full of herbs and a side of bean sprouts, basil, and jalapenos. Service is friendly and quick. The space is no frills, but it adds to the experience!

Google
This place is top tier, one of the best Pho spots I’ve been too, it checks all the boxes, let me break it down. 1. Soup was hot temperature wise, how I like it 2. The broth was flavorful, had a hint of sweetness to it 3. The noodle to chicken to broth ratio was excellent. Some places you’re halfway through and you run out of noodles and chicken. Not here, I had just as many noodles half way though from when I started and I fished the noddies and broth with several pieces of chicken left over 4. The chicken was shredded pulled chicken with no fat, in just the right sizes, and plentiful as I mentioned above 5. The table had all the necessary accoutrements, even a napkins holder which comes in handy for the runny nose 6. The toppings were fresh and plentiful 7. The service was fast and friendly 10 out of 10

Google
I went there to get pho. I can’t remember which one I got, I believe it was the beef and brisket. I asked the lady at the counter which ones were popular. It was well flavored and plentiful!! I’m definitely going back!

Google
I had to be dragged here cuz I thought I wouldn't like pho. I was wrong- it was delicious! Can't wait to go again.

Google
Best pho I have ever had - no exaggeration. I just started eating pho in August, besides Pho Thai 63, I’ve tried 4 other places and none have compared. I have been to this place every week since August, it’s really that good. Great humble staff, quick service, and the prices don’t even reflect the quality.

Andreyya Ferman

Google
Best pho spot hands down! Super flavorful! Noodles cooked to perfection. The host was super nice and attentive. Service is excellent. Wish I would eat there everyday.

Google
Excellent small place to get pho. It's all delicious . Their hours are a little weird, so I have included a picture of their posted hours as of April, 2025.

Google
This place looked so sketchy on the outside but it was fine on the inside lol. The food was so good! I got the #4 with eye-round steak and well-done brisket and I loved it. The broth was savory and there was plenty of veggies and garnish to top it off. Delicious, I would absolutely come here again.

Yelp
I don't consider myself a Pho connoisseur or anything at all but I've eaten at a couple places but my god this was some of the best chicken broth I've ever tasted, it almost tasted sweet. Service was as good as it gets, nice, quick, simple and sweet. Ambiance honestly feels like home, it feels like the people here REALLY DOOOOO come for the food. Great serving portions, the large is Really Large. Keep that in mind. Woman owned business show some love !! Great food. Really is a hole in the wall, ( more like the middle of the street )

Yelp
I am a creature of habit. When I like something, I tend to order the exact same thing every single time. When I go to pho tao 63, i always get the number 1 and two egg roles. The number 1 is pho noodles, onions, parsley, and spices. The broth is BEEF based. The egg roles are pork. This establishment does NOT have vegetarian options. They are ALWAYS nice, fast, and reasonable priced. The food is fresh and not heavy with oils. I loooove this place so much that I wanted to have a birthday gathering here but my daughter told me I had to find another favorite place because this one is hers. It is woman owned. I love it! It's small and always full. I think maybe 7-8 tables.

Yelp
Definitely a hidden gem for unsuspecting pho seekers in the area. On the outside this place doesn't quite seem like a restaurant as much as it does a corner convenience store however upon entering it certainly resembles the traditional DMV pho restaurant. Every time I visit this place there are patrons dining inside which reassures me this place turns out quality food. I normally purchase their Beef Noodle Soup #4 which is a combination of eye round steak and brisket. The large portion covers you on your hungriest day however the small portion certainly is substantial. The broth is always top quality in flavor. The ordering process is smooth over the phone and in person. What I also appreciate is the good customer service and speed which the orders are completed. Certainly a good pho noodle restaurant and one which you should try.

Yelp
Delicious. Authentic. The small bowl was a good portion for me. A person with a heavier appetite may want to get the large. If you are dining with others I would order one side of noodles. You will always have more broth. The pork eggrolls were delicious. Parking is a little weird. This place gets busy. Especially with Togo orders. There are a few small tables inside. And the bathrooms were clean. I'm definitely returning

Yelp
One of the top Pho places I've been to EVER. The moment I walked in, I knew this was gonna be a hit based on the aroma alone. I got the all meats Pho (except the meatballs) with extra jalapeños. The broth was so flavorful!! I almost didn't want to stop even though I was getting full. The meat to noodle ratio made sense. I would have liked more tripe but that's just a personal preference. Service was quick and friendly. Despite being a smaller restaurant, they do a good job of getting people in and out without compromising on quality. I'll definitely be back if I'm in the area.

Yelp
This has very quickly become my favorite place to get pho, and it's so close to me which is also a plus! This little place is right in Cleverly and is a true hidden gem. I come here atleast 5 times a month now lol. I always order bun Bo hue and sometimes egg rolls. It is ALWAYS an amazing experience. From the food taste and quality, to the service, everything is perfect. The restaurant itself is clean and cozy. I love it here.

Yelp
On our way home from visiting Wash DC, we stopped at this place for dinner. It was conveniently located right off the BW Parkway (I-295), in Bladensburg. The restaurant is located at an intersection, in a small old building. It looked like a converted gas station. The parking lot is very small, maybe 10-12 spaces. Inside, the dinning room is also small with limited seating. People that came in after us had to wait for a table. The menu is very simple. The only appetizer was cha gio or egg roll. The entrees included pho, bun Bo hue, and 2 rice dishes (chicken or pork chop). The pho came in 3 sizes: children, small, and large. I got a large #5 pho tai nam. Both my wife and daughter got the bun Bo hue. The food came out hot after a short 5 minute wait. Both noodle soups came with a good amount of noodles and meat. Both broths were flavorful and authentic tasting. My wife was impressed with their bun Bo hue, noting that it was better than her own homemade version ( which I never heard her say before). We left this place happy and full.

Yelp
I would've never ventured here if it wasn't for YELP! this hidden gem on the corner of 202 is full of yummy goodness. I called to order pick up and didn't want to venture too far and be in any weekend traffic. When I arrived my order was ready and so happy we gave this place a try. My veggie soup was delicious. Flavorful and filling. My husband shared his steak pho was also tender and delicious. We will definitely travel back here for our Pho fix! I wish they had veggie spring rolls or summer rolls on the menu! That's they only thing I was missing...

Yelp
Really good!! Been going here for years!!!! One of my favorite go to pho spots in MD, if you are ever in the area I highly recommend!! They will not disappoint, parking lot is small and they are off to the side so if you are not paying attention you may miss it but definitely check them out, pho bowl and spring rolls are so good
google avatar

Selena V.

Yelp
Best Pho spot I have been to hands down! My partner agrees cuz they have the best home made chili oil really makes the soups flavor! Their broth is the best everything is always fresh and top tier!

Yelp
I am a Vietnamese born in Saigon and this is the place that impressed me the most so far around the area. Must try: Bún bò Huế (Lemongrass Beef Noodle). Easily the best in Maryland. They even have "rau răm"... Legit stuffs. Phở is decent and not inferior to any other places. Huge portions. Give this a try to feel how we Vietnamese eat Bún bò Huế in Saigon.
google avatar

Amy C.

Yelp
Definitely highly recommend getting the bun bo hue however there is no pork feet or pig blood added onto it like most bun bo hue. The flavors was very rich and flavorful with a hint of spice. The wait time is a bit longer than expected 20/30 minutes. The restaurant is a bit small with only a few tables. I do wish they had more items on the menu such as Viet coffee !

Sunny D.

Yelp
The absolute BEST pho broth in the area!! I love this place. The staff is always so friendly.
google avatar

Nadia C.

Yelp
I wanted to try a new pho place close to me and I am glad i did the Pho was so flavorful you didn't need the hoisin sauce . I got the large and it came with alot of food enough for two bowls in my opinion. I also got the fried spring rolls that were seasoned well. I'm definitely going back.

Bethel E.

Yelp
Food is always great!! great hole in the wall spot feels very cozy and chill and service is also on point

Yelp
The Yelp community got it right with this one. If you want quality Bun Bo Hue this is the spot. So good that I think its the best in all of MD. The right amount of aromatics, seasoning, textures and a really rich broth. My friend and I ordered the large bowl and almost finished everything down to the last drop. You can also customize your bowl to add more sides like more noodles and meats. The egg roll appetizer has the best value as they pack so much into each roll and they came out piping hot. They even have the spicy sate chili sauce to add to your dishes as well. The location itself is small. If you come with a large group you may have to sit at different tables. The parking is tight as well. They do offer Doordash options and ordering ahead as well. The restaurant is not far from the highway and you may miss it if you don't look for the signs off the main road. Great service and quality food. I'll definitely be back for some more BBH and try their other dishes.

Yelp
Pho Thai 63 is a diamond in the rough and when I say the rough, smiles. I would never have thought such a nice Pho spot was on this corner; directly across from the Public Playhouse. Reminder Toya, don't judge a book by the cover! It feels cool to hear about these places word of mouth instead of on the internet, because this lets me know I am talking to the right people about food. I kept it simple for my first visit, #8 Pho Tai Nam Gau, Beef noodle soup with eye round steak, well-done flank & fatty brisket. Served with Pho veggies and an order of crispy pork rolls. Took my food to go, the soup and crispy rolls are GREAT, one of the best Pho spots in the area! Nice selection of sliced meats, savory broth, all good stuff. Customer service great, can take 15-20 minutes I recommend calling ahead. In my case I hopped over to MOMs in Hyattsville and picked up a few things, then came back. The place is clean and totally a nice spot to eat in. Also, so much more than soup, they also have Steamed Rice Plates with pork chops, chicken, and Chicken/Porkchop combos, these are rice bowls with fresh veggies. So much to explore and I will be coming back over here soon.

Yelp
Have you ever had an hankering for some Pho? I have and when it lasts for two days, it is time for me to get some. I have tried other restaurants in the area, and haven't been too happy either with the taste or the size of the entrée, super happy to have come on Yelp to find this place. It was easy to order online- I ran a quick errand and placed the order on the way, despite my getting their early, my order was ready. I got the small number 12 sans tripe and tendon, plus an order of egg rolls. The place is in my opinion an awkward place. Kinda smack dab in the middle of 450 right across from the Publik Playhouse. Despite parking being right in the front, entry is on the side of 450. The parking lot can be a bit cumbersome if you are trying to enter and another car is trying to leave on 202. Enough about parking...what about the food?!! It. Was. Great. There has been a long time coming where I haven't needed to add anything to my pho broth. I mean I did, cause I like spice, but it wasn't a necessity. I am so used to running out of noodles, or meats, but that did not happen in this case. This portion was so HUGE, that I was unable to finish it all, and this never happens. You have a choice to have some of the meats cooked before hand, or raw- your choice. Everything was just....yum. The spring rolls weren't fried too hard, and they had such a great taste. The sauces that came with, were the perfect compliment. This will be my go to Pho spot when that hankering arises in my belly.

Yelp
I ordered takeout here this past weekend and it took about 20 min for my order. I ordered a large Pho #6 and it was delicious! I was genuinely surprised at how large the serving size was and I wouldn't order a large again because I can't finish it. They give ample amounts of noodles, the general toppings (bean sprouts, basil, etc.) on the side, and separate the broth from the noodles for takeout. Some general notes is that they do put sooo many white onions, they put the meat in the broth so it's quite overcooked by the time I ate it, and the broth wasn't as flavorful as some other places I've been. However, for that price and the amount of pho, I say it's worth it and will definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Shantel L.

Yelp
I love the pho here, I love getting the shrimp pho. The staff are very kind people. The broth is to die for. Highly recommended

Mariah S.

Yelp
Honestly some of the best pho on this side of town. I also love the lemongrass Bun Bo Hue, so tasty. The egg rolls are great, always crispy and hot. My order is always ready on time. It's winter now, so I'll be here a few times a month.

Jeremy S.

Yelp
- was looking for decent pho after moving back to the area. Unassuming shop but to go order had big portions. Broth is a little sweet but decent enough. Polite service and a cozy atmosphere. Worth the trip.

Chanice J.

Yelp
The food is delicious . Rice run out by 6 pm on weekends which I'm not sure why they don't make a little more , order your rice dishes earlier. This means food is fresh and turnover is fast . The price on line is not correct and needs to be updated chicken with rice says 9.99 but actually 14 or 25 dollars . If you want one sauce it's 50 cents each, specify amount to staff. Overall great exp u won't regret

Matthew O.

Yelp
There is a reason this place is still averaging 5 stars. The food is consistently good and the value for money is amazing.

Yelp
The Yelp community was not lying about this place. My friends and I were rained on the whole day at Six Flags (20 mins away) and some hot soup would've hit. One of my friends was craving pho and found this place nearby and we saw all the awesome reviews so we had to try it. We shared two orders of the cha gio and my friends got pho (#6) and I got the bun bo hue. The cha gio was still STEAMING as we were eating it and the portion size was unmatched compared to most Viet places. Bun bo hue is one of my favorite Viet noodle dishes so I had high expectations and they were met. The broth was rich and well seasoned - perfect amount of spice. For a small bowl, it was packed with meat. The only thing missing was the gio but other than that I'm still thinking about that bowl to this day. They say the sketchier and smaller the place is the better it is and Pho Tai 63 is the spot!
google avatar

Yelp
Leaving this review to remind myself to come back here. Absolutely incredible meal and service!
google avatar

Yelp
Best pho Ive had yet. Get the brisket combo, you wont be disappointed. I found the food to be fresh and neatly packaged to go. This may be my new pho spot!
google avatar

Keia P.

Yelp
This place was so good! Authentic and fresh. Definitely a must try. We had the pho, egg rolls, and tea. The place is small so get in and find a seat. Enjoy your lunch!
google avatar

Yelp
Sentimental 5. From the jank parking lot to the smell of the broth when you enter the building, Pho Tai 63 feels like I took a step back in SoCal. Even looks like it too - a classic pho joint you'd see every other intersection in Westminster. First off props for the contactless menus in these times. Pretty tight knit with mostly pho, but some other classics like cha gio/egg rolls as well. A bit odd getting sweet and sour vs. nuoc mam/fish sauce for dip, but otherwise tastes authentic. Otherwise the pho is pretty picturesque. The broths definitely on the lighter side of restaurants - which isn't my personal preference but otherwise comes together well. Always gotta go dac biet for the most meat options every time. Didn't know what to expect driving by but was pleasantly surprised. Would stop by again if I'm in the area.
google avatar

Kurt B.

Yelp
Tho these guys are always busy, they got the Phó game down. The flavors are savory every time. Meat and roping portions are perfect, and noodle quality is great! The spice levels are right and the orders are done in reasonable time considering the place is always packed! Best Phó spot I've been to in PG county! Highly recommend.
google avatar

Jill S.

Yelp
This recently became my top pick in the area for pho carry out. The broth is delicious, well strained but with all the right flavors and spices. They serve it with generous portions of meat and toppings. The food is well packed for travel, no spills or leaks. The noodles are never overcooked or chewy. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food is delicious!

Hillary R.

Yelp
Wonderful amounts of food, reasonable prices, and good pho! Can't go wrong with this spot.

Will B.

Yelp
Excellent Pho and egg rolls at fair prices. We love this place. 100 percent recommend

Tiffany Rae T.

Yelp
This place is where it's at! Some of the best Pho I've ever had. My entire family loved every morsel of food. We spent the day in sweltering DC heat, yet were craving Pho. We decided to stop at this place as it was along our route back to Boston. It did not disappoint! Don't be fooled by the lousy exterior. This is the place to come for an experience with phenomenal pho, not fine dining. Every table was filled with satisfied customers, regulars who made conversation with the owners. It's worth the drive from DC in my opinion. AND there's parking!

Ayo A.

Yelp
Best pho i have ever had the broth, the customer service and the ambience is great I go at least once a week
google avatar

Maria O.

Yelp
This place opened up during the pandemic and I'm super happy to try out there pho finally. They even offer rice dishes like grilled pork, which is my favorite! Reasonably priced and good quality meats. The broth is just perfect and the portions are huge! A must try for sure! My favorite thing to get is the #12 which features all the meats. That includes tripe and meatballs. I have not dined in yet but the to-go portions are pretty large and worth every penny. Customer service is always on point too!
google avatar

Yelp
Front cashier Rude, Be Careful pay attention to your receipt. Food was good. I'll stay in Charles county pho location.
google avatar

Sansan H.

Yelp
This place is specialized in pho. We got the rib eye and meatball. The broth of the pho is so fragrant - lots of cilantro and green onion. It taste delicious. They have the homemade chili - it is very spicy and has tons of garlic on it. Please use this chili with your pho - it tastes amazing. Highly recommended if you are craving for some good pho soup

Tiffany A.

Yelp
Whenever anyone asks me, if you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be... my answer has always been pho. The rich broth, meat, noodles and herbs... it's my chicken soup for the soul. Hungry but in a rush? Pho. Need a cheap but delicious meal? Pho. Under the weather? Pho. Hungover? Pho. A "just because" craving? Pho. As a result, I have tried almost every pho place in the greater DMV area. There are places that undoubtedly have faster service, cheaper prices, etc. But Pho Tai 63 takes the cake in flavor. Their broth is so far superior to all the other pho places in the area that I will wait until they open (which is on the later side) even if I'm hungry because it's better to have the best than to settle for mediocre. Even after a bender, I scrape myself together to go pickup from Pho Tai 63 instead of conveniently ordering ubereats from a different pho place... because it is THAT much better. My husband does not share my passion for noodle soup, but he greatly enjoys the pork chop rice dish... it comes with two chops and are really large portions.
google avatar

Sandy S.

Yelp
This place is good, no BS. Authentic good ole pho. Priced reasonably. I like they use paper straw rather than plastic too. Hole in the wall. If your around the area and craving for pho that will not disappoint, I recommend here. Pho special: no complaints Bun bo hue: no complaints
google avatar

Yelp
I saw the reviews and was extremely excited to try this place. The wait was long but we waited with our toddler to be seated. Their only waitress was extremely rude. After sitting for about ten minutes and waiting for the hot tea, water and apple juice I ordered for my daughter, I asked if we could please have some water. The waitress snapped at me and was clearly overwhelmed. I have never ever experienced that before and will never eat at this restaurant.
google avatar

Joe P.

Yelp
Close call between 63 and Tan Vinh as to who has the best pho in Maryland. But it's one of them.
google avatar

Peter S.

Yelp
I've been eyeing this place for a while. I was skeptical at first because it was an unusual location and didn't really look appealing from the outside. I waited for some yelp reviews and was surprised to see consistent 5 star reviews. So I decided to try it and IT WAS GOOD!!!! I've had it twice now and will continue to repeat!! Ingredients were fresh and noodles were cooked perfectly. My only complaint is that their menu is limited and don't even serve iced coffee!!! I'm sure they will add that to their menu in the future. They are understaffed so it can take a bit longer but it's worth it and I'm sure they will hire another person or two. Don't hesitate to order from here!!
google avatar

Evil D.

Yelp
The pho is excellent. But don't sleep on the other stuff on the menu, either. I recommend the Com Ga (ginger fried chicken rice). It's not like Western fried chicken, it doesn't look like KFC, but it's fantastic. It's just rice and boneless chicken thighs with two sauces (I'm pretty sure one of them is sriracha, and I think the other one is seasoned chicken broth, that may include fish sauce, but don't take my word for it), but I promise you'll like it. I get it even more often than I get pho. Fairly limited menu but I've been here a bunch and have yet to order a bad thing. Currently no real vegetarian options.

Mark T.

Yelp
I went to pho tai 63 to try Vietnamese food for the first time. I was greeted by Christina who was an amazing server and provided a great experience. The pho was amazing. Highly recommend!

Kathy K.

Yelp
Growing up in the Bay Area where I had Pho weekly, it takes a lot to impress me. I moved to the neighborhood last year and I drive by this place on my way to and from work everyday. It doesn't look like much from the outside, so I've never given it much thought. Every time I've craved pho, I've forgotten about this place and ordered elsewhere and been disappointed. The craving struck again today and thankfully, my DoorDash search results recommended this place and I finally went "ah right, I've been meaning to try this place for ages" WHY DIDN'T I TRY IT SOONER?! Omg. This was the best pho I've had since moving to the DMV 5 years ago. Hands down. Including any places in Eden Center or Pho 75. This has them all beat and that was from delivery too. I can't wait to go there in person and have it served right out of the kitchen--I'm sure it'll be even better! Speaking of delivery, everything was packed so well! I also appreciated the plastic soup spoon. Nice touch. I hardly ever write reviews but I'm adding to the pile of 5 star reviews here in hopes that it gets this place more known and it stays in the neighborhood! Next time I want to try to the egg rolls and rice plates too. Can't wait for my next visit!

Elbert B.

Yelp
Their pho is very good I'd go back again and I'd recommend to friends n family it's close to my house so thts a plus

Yelp
I found out today Pho Tai 63 just had its first anniversary! Congrats! and I wish you Many More Years of Success! [No, I am not related to the family or the business in anyway. :)] A rare gem among Far East Cuisines in the area and beyond (w. its own parking lot). The matriarch of the family runs the kitchen and grandpa is bussing tables! The young women and man are all sisters /brother working as waiters. Respect! For the pho, real beef broth is cooked from scratch for starters and not the pre-mix packed with MSG-laden artificial flavors. Since the "base" is tasty, the rest is all the goodies that are added to the bowl. The portions are aplenty so I order a small one with an extra side of meat of choice. All the meats are very tasty and cut/cooked just right. Egg Rolls are freshly fried and really delicious. It has become a regular TOP spot for me among Chinese/Korean/Vietnamese in the area. Most satisfying and highly recommended. See you soon! [The photos posted are reflective and consistent of what I have had and see on other tables, so I am not posting any photos.]

Yelp
Did take-out from here when I came down with a cold (negative COVID test FTW!) and it was just what the doctor ordered. Despite my stuffy nose I could still tell the broth was deliciously fragrant and rich, but not oily/greasy (a personal pet peeve). As another reviewer mentioned, I was similarly impressed with the freshness of all the side veggies (your standard bean sprouts, holy basil, jalapenos, & lime wedge) and made that very comment upon assembling my bowl at home. ("Look at these veg! Not even one brown spot on the basil and the jalapenos are so crisp!") Nice portions and cuts of meat in my flank/eye of round combo as well. Egg rolls were also excellent and plenty hot and crisp even after the approximately 10-minute trip home in the clamshell. Both sauces were delicious too (a standard Mae Ploy-style sweet chili and Nuoc Cham fish sauce vinaigrette). I can't wait to go back. No seriously, I'm going again today.

Yelp
Tried this because I've been consistently disappointed by pho restaurants in DC. This place is amazing. Full stop.
