Pho Thaison

After living in Houston's China Town it is hard to find Vegetarian pho that hits. This place is delicious!! The broth is flavourful and the tofu is done amazingly! Will definately be back!

Had a couple pieces of chicken in the chicken pho (I’m talking less than half the palm of your hand). Called the restaurant and she said “well it had plenty when I looked, go ask the uber driver.” And laughed about it. This isn’t the first time this has happened with this place- they skimp on protein. Do yourself a favor and order from the one in Kyle, never a bad experience there.

The last time we ordered food it smelled had a shrimp taste to the order we called it in and they said we could get a new one next time we came in I did mention it wouldn’t be the same day l. I came in today in person to place order and the lady ROSALINDA ARGUED with me stating they will not give me anything I was supposed to come back that same day I told her ok not going to argue with her anymore it was ok and she still wanted to argue about the same non sense situation if I’m willing to just purchase it and continue my order there was no reason for her to want to continue arguing about it bad customer service and last time we come they lost good customers over her rudeness

This is my preferred location for Pho in South Austin! If you enjoy your pho with a spicy kick and rich umami flavor, you must try the Beef Stew Pho. -- Regarding service, Rosalinda is among the kindest individuals you will ever encounter. She regularly checks in on you to make certain your satisfaction is assured as if you are family. This, combined with their reasonable prices, makes it a hidden gem in Austin 🙌🏽

The prices on UberEats are higher than the prices found at the restaurant. The food was mid, the atmosphere was empty, and the prices were high. I would not recommend the Shaking Beef, and the Lemongrass Beef Banh Mi was nothing to write home about. The sushi rolls were good, but not worth over $30 for 2 rolls.

Rosalinda was fantastic & the food was amazing!! The spicy edamame was yummy. The egg roll had very thin wrapping so was nice and light. We both had a different beef pho. The two rolls were big beautiful and not too saucy. 10/10! We will be back!

Unfortunately, our visit was disappointing. The broth was completely bland with no depth of flavor, and the portions were surprisingly small... I ran out of noodles after just a few bites, and my child had to eat from another parent’s bowl. The restroom wasn’t family-friendly, as there was no changing table, and our waitress seemed unhappy to be there. Overall, it just didn’t feel welcoming or satisfying. You’re much better off going to Pho With Us, where you’re treated like family and always leave full and happy.

Love this place and hadn't been there in quite awhile. Nothing better on a cold day than a nice hot bowl of Pho! Food was wonderful as always and service was great. Can't wait to visit again.

The food was good some more than others. The wings were crunchy and juicy, the pan fried egg noodles had good flavor and textures, the crab rangoon's crispy. The Thai son delight was bland it is a simple dish but it had no flavor. I would come back to try other items still. Service was quick and friendly. We joked around with the server even over something that happen while we were there. It's a nice restaurant for the South Park Marios area.

Pretty good food. My wife loves it and I enjoyed it. I gave 3 stars because I'm not going to crave it necessarily. I got the egg noodle soup combo with poached seafood. The seafood was good. The broth was as expected and the noodles were alright. If we order again I think I'll get the seafood pho.

Beautiful food ! My favorite place in Austin. The service is fast and helpful. The menu is the best pho to me in all of south Austin. I give them 4 1/2 stars only because sometimes the grubhub people make it hard to keep the business running smooth as it usually does. But grubhub or whatever service ruin it for everyone. No one needs that crap anymore. Stick with just the restaurant ordering.

I've been coming to this restaurant for ages and it's good and quick every time. My go to is the seafood pho or vegetable pho. This time I went with the traditional Pad Thai with noodles and shrimp. It's not very spicy so I add the spicy sauce over it. I think they've made it more mild to accommodate those that can't take the Thai chilies. I also tried the salmon sashimi. The sauce was a bit odd that came with it as it was sorta a mayonnaise ketchup combo but it also had soy sauce and green shiso was better than any unnecessary additional sauce. The salmon was fresh and tasted good. This a great place to get a fusion of Thai, Japanese and Chinese food. It's a diner vibe with the worn out booths and some tables in the middle to dine in or get takeout. I love going here on a blustery day and sipping hot tea and eating pho as I relax dining in and stare out the window I to the parking lot. It's right next to Orange Theory and The Joint chiropractic office on the corner. The mid aged lady that works there always remembers me when I come in and they're always very nice and accommodating. Perhaps it's a family run business as I get that feel from all who work there. You know they care about their customers and want to make sure you have a good dining experience. It's a perfect place to get lunch or early dinner for not a lot of money.

When I saw the first half of the menu, I was pleasantly surprised to see the abundance of traditional Vietnamese dishes not typically offered at Vietnamese dining establishments (ie: Chicken Pho, Banh Xeo, Clay Pot Braised Fish, Braised Pork Belly). Pho Thai Son also offers sushi, but I stick to a firm dining rule, if the restaurant doesn't specialize in certain items they offer, do not order it. I ordered the Chicken Pho, as this was reminiscent of my childhood on Sundays after church. My partner stuck with the basics and ordered the Pho Tai (sliced beef). Between the two, the Chicken Pho had a better broth flavoring, but in reality, the Pho Tai should have been the star of the show. The way the broth is made in Pho Tai is truly a form of art. It uses the meat and bones of beef and seeped in the broth with exotic spices (ie: star of anise, cardamon pods, coriander seeds) for three hours. Chicken Pho's process is not as lengthy and not all spices are used. The Pho Tai was incredibly disappointing. It lacked flavor, depth, and most importantly, patience. The single staff on hand was incredible. She was fast and efficient, and knew what we needed before we had to even ask for it. I will return to satiate my curiosity on the other Vietnamese dishes, but with low expectations...

I've been with Pho Thai Son for a while. I've seen their ups and downs, but I've never been left with a bad note. I remember getting my first ever banh mi from a trip down to Guadalupe. It was spectacular. Nowadays, I'm still hugely into banh mi's because of that first trip. I've gone on to try other random dishes including their namesake pho and pad thai. The usual suspects. It's simply good food. I've seen higher rated places that gave me much less tasty dishes. When I got Extra Extra Spicy I actually got a dish with some spice to it (I consider myself as having high spice tolerance) so that's a huge plus to me. It wasn't nearly as spicy as other places, but it was enough for me to notice. It tastes like a dish you can replicate at home, but that's okay. It's comforting. Their pho has done me right, and their banh mi's haven't been the best for me lately, but whatever. I cannot vouch for their banh mi anymore. Everything else has always been good to me. I can safely recommend this as a nice location for pho and pad thai down in Deep South Austin.

Everything was about average. The service was decent. The lady helping me was pretty straightforward but she would wink every time she turned to walk away. I did end up asking for more eel sauce for the sushi. The shrimp spring roll was slightly below average. It didn't seem super fresh (but not old) and it didn't have a ton of flavor; even the peanut sauce was disappointing. Once I got more sauce, the sushi was decent. Edamame is pretty hard to mess up, but this too was just average. Maybe I should have only gotten pho but wasn't in the mood for that.

Coming back with another review because i was dreaming of this place! After an excellent pho, I had to try more dishes. This time we were able to dine in and the waitstaff was very nice to us! Our food came out quite fast, as it did on our last visit. For the food, we ordered pad Thai (a personal favorite dish of mine) and combination fried rice. I requested the pad Thai be spicy (just "spicy" not "really spicy" as our waitress called it), and it was the perfect amount of spice to have a kick while still allowing you to taste the flavor (and not just be suffering with your mouth burning the whole meal). The reason for the continued 4 stars is just that the flavors in some of the dishes are different / not exactly my taste. The pad Thai had the right amount of spice, and quite a bit of sauce which I like, but it was a little more BBQ tasting than expected. The fried rice was awesome but next time we'll ask for it to be a little spicy too (for a better kick). Also, I got a Thai tea and it may be my favorite in Austin!! Great ratio of flavors, great tea! We will be back for more dishes (want to try the sushi), friendly service, and a great value for your meal!

I only came here because my first two picks in the area were closed and I was starving. I walked in at around 6pm and the dining area was completely empty, which I should have taken as a bad omen but I went ahead and placed my to-go order either way. I ordered spicy wings, a pork vermicelli bowl, and the Singaporean stir fry. The wings were not great and the two entrees were actively bad. I could not get over how oily and salty the stir fry was and ended up throwing away about 80% of it. The only reason I'm not giving this a one star is because the staff was friendly and the food came out relatively quick.

Literally the worst pad Thai I've ever ordered in my life. Absolutely inedible, threw the entire dish out. Will never waste my money on this again.

I love this place. The salt and pepper tofu is to die for! The service is excellent and the ambiance is great!

I love Rosalinda and Maria the food is always amazing and I love when the sushi chef makes my caterpillar rolls and it's a cute caterpillar he is also very sweet, not very fond of the other servers but they are not bad still good! I have been coming here for almost 6-7 years now and I love this place it's my favorite place to be and eat

We've only been here a handful of times. Our last meal with them. I gave the waitress my order of noodles dish with veggies and no meat. I pointed to the item on the menu. She flips the menu, points at another menu item and says this is the same thing except it doesn't have meat. I told her no I wanted the other item. She brings the dish that she pointed at. It was watery, had no flavor and basically vermicelli noodles in GRAVY! This is the second time we had this waitress and she does not listen to what the customer wants. I let it go the first time. Second time - no. I will never eat there again.

Good service, delicious pho, and I love their egg rolls. I've never had a bad experience there.

I used to be a semi-regular customer of this local chain. But with my most recent experience, I severely disappointed. I placed a delivery order through Door Dash. But when I received the order, my Pho soup base was half in the container, and half in the larger bag with all the other food I ordered for my family. I know this was not due to the delivery driver, because these containers are very tight, and not easily opened just by carrying in a bag or setting in a car. Instead, I believe the cover came off the soup container because it was not properly put on in the first place; the restaurant employee that packed the bag did not do a good job to ensure containers within the bag would not open in route; the bag seemed packed in a rush. As a result, I had to order a whole new pho soup from a competitor to have a dinner to eat. As a result, I will be ordering my pho from competitors in the future. It doesn't matter how good the food is, if the food cannot be successfully delivered due to bad packaging.

We had the steak pho delivered. It was very tasty but I recommend ordering it with extra meat.

This place is amazing! I love the flavor of their food. They have several choices to pick from and the service is always exceptional! would definitely come back again and again and again!

Stopped in for dinner while waiting on my car to be repaired. So glad I did! The dynamite shrimp appetizer was aptly named. The chicken pho was also delicious. Portions were plentiful, service was excellent. And I love their outdoor seating.

Good food. They will charge extra for extra sauce. The calamari and shrimp dynamite are the best. Be sure and ask for hoison sauce.

Food is okay, but the service is trash. Change your waitresses and you'd have more customers.

Very delicious food. I had curry chicken, my daughter and granddaughter had chicken pad Thai and we began our meal with fresh spring rolls. Everything was delicious and the wait staff was extremely courteous.

Favorite lil spot in southpark for a quick dinner- the vermicelli bowls and pho are consistently delicious. Service is always quick & welcoming of our dog on the patio, which has cute string lighting.

Great vegan curry with a beautiful variety of hand-cut veggies, delicious coconut boba tea, and great service. Will definitely return to try another meal from their whole page of Vegetarian dishes. Yummm!!!

I give this place a 5+ I always crave the Pho Tai Son brisket Pho, and it always helps whenever I am feeling sick. I love the older lady that works their. She is like my good friend even though I don't know her name. She and her daughter are always so sweet and amazing. And I love the lady that wears the ponytail and works the same shift as the guy with red hair. They are always fast and the food always taste so freaking good. I also love the way they talk to me and treat me. I never would have went here if my boyfriend didn't show me it. But I definitely will take this place over any Pho place.

I picked up a togo order for two vermicelli bowls with pork and an egg roll. When I got there 10 minutes early the food was ready for pickup. I guess that should've been a red flag as the pork was as dry as beef jerky. It was obvious that this was old meat being reheated for a second time. It's totally unacceptable to let this go out of the kitchen. This quality issue is 100% the location as this is my second bad experience here. We normally go to William Cannon location and order this same dish. There it's one of the best dishes and is absolutely amazing! I will never go back to the Southpark Meadows. I've also included a picture of the "peanut sauce" we had with our spring rolls. I'm not quite sure how you can mess this one up but maybe it's old too.

I've never really been a pho person (I'm a ramen girl) so my expectations weren't too high...unfortunately, I echo what a lot of these other reviews are saying- it was just "eh"? The best part of our meal was the crab rangoons haha I will say the manager was super nice! If I go back, I will try something else like maybe a curry.

We used to have a favorite pho spot, but it went downhill and we'd been searching ever since. This is it for us! Highly recommend the pho, the vermicelli and the Vietnamese iced coffee. Staff is friendly and pick up is prompt.

The best crabmeat Rangoon Ever! Tasted freshly made, and it actually had crabmeat in it! Now that is unheard of now days.

I love this pho. Tasty, fast and always nice service. The ambiance is good, portions are big and the Vietnamese hot coffee is a must. I like their huge fish tank, quite relaxing to look at for one min or two till your food arrives:)). Prices are also very good. If you're in pho mode, give it a try!

Pet friendly establishment. A nicely shaded patio with some rail guards. Ordered some Tai meat for the dog, he was stoked. The Pho wasn't bad, the prices reflected austin, a little high.

My preggo sister-in-law smelled the aroma from outside and was like "LET'S GO NOW!" The employee was quite friendly. We got it to-go. It was ready in about five minutes. :) I tried the crab rangoons and they were deliciously creamy inside, crispy outside and overall greasy goodness! Also, super cute fish in aquariums.

Legit one of my favorite places to eat Pho and sushi. Sushi rolls are always fresh, seafood pho has generous portions of everything -I'm constantly having to take it home. Pork steamed buns are also really amazing, I recommend trying them if you've never had them.

My takeout order spilled erywhere in the bag. I guess a lid was broken and a few were not put on right. I emailed to inform them of what had happened. I received a full refund and great customer service. I look forward to trying them again for dine in!

That was pho-king amazing! Typical looking Thai place from the outside. Walked in and sat immediately. Service was super quick and efficient. Got a Dr Pepper that was perfectly fountain. We started with a fried egg roll that was delicious. The salt and pepper tofu is plenty as a meal for one and perfectly shared for two! Then we had the fried bun with spicy pork brisket that was absolutely delicious. Left full and happy!

You know I have been coming here for years and years and at one point they started to change up the menu and prices and it sort of pushed me away but.... Buuuuuuut... It was the sort menu change they needs to happen and I have to say it gets better and better each year. One of my favorite things to get is the Calamari it is the best ive had in Austin so far and ive been to plenty of sea food places here. My second favorite thing to get is the Pho of course, I get the fatty brisket and plain one. Love their brisket soo much amd it has the perfect ration of fat amd meat. Thank you guys for keeping it real all these year's!!

I love Pho and was really looking forward to trying this place out. They have a huge menu with so many choices. I ended up ordering a curry dish instead of Pho......I should have definitely stuck with my original choice. I also ordered crab Rangoon as an appetizer. They were delicious but very greasy. The oil was dripping out of them. The sweet and sour sauce was also very interesting and different. It was very sweet and not at all sour. My curry was delicious but more like a curry soup. It was very thin, but had tons of flavor. The staff was friendly, but it is kind of confusing whether or not you are supposed to order at the counter or just have a seat. The inside set up is very crowded and not set up very well. The tables were kind of sticky and not whiped down. I will most likely be back to try the pho, but will be getting my order to go.

I had a couple of sushi rolls, spicy edamame and beef brisket phö. Everything was quite good. I recommended sitting far from the doors; every time they opened a wave of cold air hit us. The server was quick and attentive. I had to pick a little fat out of my (lean) brisket. I loved the flavors, though. Everything was fresh and vibrant. Very convenient location.

Wow. Hot tea is pre made. They will warm it up when you order. The pho broth was totally bland. Meats are like crap, cut into weird chunks even the meatballs they slice them all up into tiny pieces. A bowl of pho here is more than $10 Im dont appreciate the plastic bowls. Plastic spoons tasted like clorox. I asked and they said it's sanitizer. No, Of course not. The dirty dark green water fish tank was so irrelevant and gross me out.

Good Pho. Order beef pho with round steak, skirt. And tendon. Put 2 slice of pho. Dump all vegies there..yumm

Only one curry on the menu and the beef in it was absolutetly tiny. One of the most expensive curries in ATX and nothing (i mean nothing) particularly good about it. Def a one and done. Total rob job.

Tonight we ordered two beef pho soups and spring rolls for my husband and daughter and they went bananas on the flavor. They loved the outcome and appreciated the way it was packaged. Normally they have to add a ton of salt or lime juice to pho but tonight, they did not do that; they said I should definitely order from Pho Thai Son again! I of course, will do when they are in the mood for Vietnamese cuisine.

Ordered through Doordash- packaging was great, broth separate to noodles and chicken, and veggies in a separate container. Great flavor. Brisket steamed buns were yum, but they needed more meat for the price. 1/2 steamed, 1/2 fried pork buns were delicious. We'll definitely order again!

I ordered 2 Banh Mi and 1 order of steamed buns. The chicken Banh was delicious, wouldn't change a thing (well, maybe add a tad more veggies). The pork in the other Banh Mi and steamed buns was good but definitely a bit dry. All in all I'll come back for the chicken Banh Mi

Spoiled meat alert. Got cooked beef from here that was spoiled, I could smell it it despite it being cooked well done and the color was GRAY with some pieces having a noticeable green tint. I wanted to like this place, the staff is friendly, its cute inside but serving meat that has gone off is dangerous and I will be contacting the health department about this as consuming spoiled meat can result in hospitalization for those with weak or compromised immune systems.

Dont waste your time or money. My husband and I order the same thing at every asian/Vietnamese restaurant. Pork Vermicelli Bowl & Shrimp fried Rice. We've had some better then others understandably, But this was the Worst. Not much food at all. (We ordered to go) If it was good I wouldn't have cared much (about the amount) but it wasn't. The egg rolls were cold and (we ate them in the car) The Pork was burned and cooked weird. I've Never seen it served that way before, shape or textured wise. Not even enough toppings for a small bowl of noodles. (And the toppings are just peanuts, & shredded veggies nothing fancy) why wouldn't there be enough to make the meal?WTH!? The fish sauce was tasteless. I dumped the whole thing on my small bowl, and nothing no flavor. Never would go back, not even for free. And it was over 30$ at 2pm....

I stubbled on this place And I ordered Saigon yellow curry because I wanted a thicker type of soup and not pho. It was delicious!!! I did order a spring roll and it wasn't great. It was so bland but definitely loved the curry dish

I just got to say, best damn Viet food in texas period. The pho broth is on point like bruh. You gotta get the fried egg rolls, the spicy edamame, the chef special pho extra noodles, and the crispy pork belly steamed buns. I asked for extra cilantro and no freaking problem. I literally only eat Viet food every meal and I got to say, make no mistake this is the real deal, real foodies already know what it is. Deuces.

Ordered pork banh mi for my wife and I. The meat was dry as beef jerky and completely flavorless. There were almost no vegetables on either sandwich. Worst banh mi I've ever had, no question. Especially considering what I paid. We won't be coming back.
