The Best Vietnamese Restaurants for Pho in Montreal - Eater Montreal

"The rare beef is a bloody treat at this pho spot tucked in a shopping mall near Côte-Vertu metro. It’s also some of the least expensive pho in the city, and comes with ample basil, mint and bean sprouts on the side whether you order your bowl with meatballs, tendon, tripe, or all-dressed." - Amie Watson

Google
I was very surprised to find this hidden gem with an excellent pho broth. They serve you at speed, quantities are acceptable, and the quality of meat is above average. The restaurant could use a deep clean and a better atmosphere, but you can't expect much regarding decor from a good pho spot. I'll definitely be back!

Google
This has become my top choice for Pho. The broth here is rich and packed with flavor, a stark contrast to other places that often dilute theirs. The ingredients are exactly what you'd expect from authentic Vietnamese cuisine. The fact that the restaurant is owned and operated by Vietnamese staff added to my confidence in the authenticity of the food, and it did not disappoint—it was the most delicious Pho I have ever had.

We came here on a Saturday ~6pm after a beautiful outing day. We ordered 2 spring rolls, 1 grilled beef rice, 3 tonkinese soups. After 10min the rice dish arrived. Another 10min wait we then reminded the waiter about the spring rolls appetizer which he brought it after 5min. Then another 15min we reminded again and the 3 soups arrived. Their excuse is there's too many takeout orders!!! There's absolutely no consideration at all for customers in the restaurant and on top of that, the waiter was rude and food was running out. If you don't want to ruin your beautiful day, don't come to this place.

Google
we go there almost every month, or more. The broth is clear, no scum and very flavorful. You could just tell that it's made with time and effort. The tea they serve before the food is good too. (artichoke tea... I think.) I really wish I could buy the broth seperately so I could eat pho every day. :( spring rolls are tasty too. we used the same ingredients to make them at home -fail big time. Ours were good, but it wasnt the same :( Planning to splurge there again once I get paid ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Google
Excellent bun bo hue and decent prices (includes taxes in the price!) Good service and your food will come out quickly. They did forget my water but it’s accessible so you can pour it yourself. Will definitely be back soon!

Google
My favorite Vietnamese soup place, they make an amazing lunch special, small soup then grilled chicken thighs with rice or vermicelli noodles and small salad. Did I mention amazing??...lol

Google
Came here for lunch. The Pho Bo Vien was excellent. The broth of the Bun Bo Hue was very tasty; however, I I felt there was something missing… no pork knuckles nor pork hock. I was still quite happy with my lunch. Service was a bit slow but I think it’s because they don’t have enough staff.

Google
I would give a 4.5 if there was one, but def deserves more than a 4 so I gave a 5! Unexpected from this old neighborhood strip mall, quite good and priced very reasonably. Cheaper than most Vietnamese places around town.

Yelp
A friend suggested this place to me for an early dinner as it was relatively close to where I was and he was in the neighbourhood. I always like a good pho and this place serves a very good pho. For my choice of pho, I generally get the largest bowl that they have and I opt for the mix of meats and tendons. I can say that the pho is very good in this place. The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that I generally don't give 5 stars to places that don't accept credit cards (or at worse debit cards). This is a cash only establishment. Like a lot of Asian restaurants, depending on how full the restaurant is and how many people in your party, you might be seated at the same table with strangers or strangers might be sitting at your table.

Yelp
TLTR; Packaging: 5/5 Portion: 5/5 Quality of side veggies: 4/5 Limes were small and dry Vietnamese coffee: 5/5 Pho: 3/5 I found a hair Bun Bo Hue: 1/5 Lack of flavor and spice Very disappointed. Old time fan of this place, I even gave it 5 stars... Let's start with what was good. The Vietnamese iced coffee is amazing! The thing with Vietnamese iced coffee in Montreal is that it's rarely made right. The pho was amazing too! Probably better than how it use to be... And then I found a hair. Maybe it's what gave it extra flavor! (Hahaha) The bun bo hue (spicy beef soup) is not good anymore. This place's bun bo hue use to the best in Montreal; it was flavorful, savory and spicy without any help from the condiments on the side! Now, the only distinguishable flavor and aroma in my bowl is the rice in the rice noodles. The soup was plain and was not spicy at all. Yes, you can just add the house chili oil/flakes but its not the same as when the chili flakes were cooked in the broth and rehydrated. If you add too much chili oil you get a really weird and strong aroma kind of like burnt sesame. Add too much chili flakes and you get a chili seed soup. Anyways, the soup just needs more shrimp paste and lemon grass. I hope it was just a bad day and not a change of recipe!

Yelp
Very good value restaurant. Being in Montreal, we have the luxury to have access to a wide array of different cuisines from all around the world. That being said, there are no shortage of Vietnamese restaurants in Montreal. Pho restaurants can be found at almost any neighbourhood, with different ranges of quality and price. This restaurant is arguably one of the good deals on a bowl of Pho. Here, you can get the XL size, named the "train" size in Vietnamese, for 9$, tax in. Usually, that size would be around 12-13$ tax in in other Pho restaurants. The flavor, however, is not the best, neither the worst I've tasted. I would say average overall. The portions are good and filling. Service is definitely not a highlight, as it usually goes for asian restaurants. A bonus, there are always parking spots as it is located in a local shopping mall. Overall, a great place to get your pho fix on a budget!

Yelp
They don't care losing customer!!! I almost come here once weekly in the past 3 years. However today is the last time to come here. I was overcharged for 2 dollar because I took additional 5 piece lime and pepper for 5 person(1 for each person). I didn't accept this overcharge, but they don't care. even I told the staff we will never come again. they just did not care. finally they got 2 dollar but lost 5 customers.

Yelp
This place is a bit dingy. But don't let that fool you. It'll be a benchmark for Pho. Prices are excellent, service is fast and above all the flavour is superb. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Do not let the "decor" or the place fool you. For me, I was pleasantly surprised! Ok, the menu was kinda sticky and the place kinda sketchy but the food was really good! The service was friendly and fast. Nothing was to be complained about with the food. Generous portions if meat vs. the ration of noodles and broth. Prices were more then reasonable. It is kinda out of the ordinary that this place is in a "cheap" kind of shopping mall. I would of never known of its existence if it weren't for my auntie :) I rarely come to ville st-laurent but will make a stop here when around!

Yelp
Since this is in the neighborhood, my family tends to eat here a lot. They have really authentic pho, unlike certain restaurants who lack in flavor. You could fill yourself up with $15; super affordable! However, I've stopped coming here because the past 4 visits, I've found multiple hairs in my food. I'll probably come back later and give it another shot to see if things get better; perhaps wearing a hair net! It's a shame because this was my to-go pho joint. I want to eat your pho; not your hair!

Yelp
Must order Bun Bo Hue (Beef Spice Noodle)! Our server is efficient, the price is reasonable. The only thing is their imperial rolls. They are too small. We had to order 6 of them!

Yelp
Good pho soup and fast service and they accept interac debit though the tea is never hot, friendly service!!

Yelp
Truly amazing experience. Highly recommended. The food is good and cheap, all the pho are less than 10$ with tax for large size, and it is more than enough to become full. The service is great too. Good place to chill with friends. Highly recommended their all dressed soup, since it has a bit of everything. The boeuf saignant pho is good too.

Yelp
I've been going to that mall to do my groceries for so long and I've never seen this place until I read the reviews. Non-expensive, good and fast! This will be my place whenever I feel like eating Tonkinoise soup.

Yelp
If you don't take in mind the decor and just concentrate on the food this is a good place. The pho is good and so are the grillades. Service is friendly. Taste of the food has always been consistent from one time to the next. Go to place for a quick bite when I'm around.

Yelp
Quaint mall restaurant with delicious pho tonkinese soup. Excellent price and size of soup bowl. Service slow but worth the wait. Would definitely recommend it.

Yelp
Delicious bun bo hue. The grilled chicken vermicelli is good. The pork and beef are tasty but the meats are fondue meats so... A bit stingy. The red bean drink is delicious but small.

Yelp
As we do most Sundays, my family and I go there to have a delicious bowl of pho or of bun bo hue. On the good side, the food was yummy and tasty. On the other hand, the customer service was so-so. They don't seem very patient and they kept interrupting us while we were ordering our food. Otherwise, thumbs up to the food!
