Where to Dine Outside in Vancouver | Eater Portland

"Sipping a steaming bowl of pho on a cold afternoon at Pho Haven feels replenishing, even on the coldest days. The heated front porch of this Vietnamese restaurant, housed in an old Victorian, offers a nice perch for watching people and traffic pass by on Main Street. Pho Haven’s menu includes a variety hot soup, from their meat-y special pho with eye round steak, flank steak, and meatballs, to a lighter vegan pho with tofu and mushrooms in a broth flavored with a mix of fruits and vegetables. The six outdoor tables often fill up around 6 p.m., but are typically available for walk-ins at lunch and before or after 6 p.m. Reservations can be made by phone." - Rachel Pinsky

Visiting from California! Had to get Asian food while on PNW trip and stopped by here. Got the pho dac biet and bun bo hue! Service was quick and environment felt very homey. Food came out fast and soup was hot and ready. Highly recommend you check out this pho place while in Washington.

Google
Came here to say that if I could give more than 5 stars, I would! The chicken pho broth was absolutely divine.. rich, flavorful, and incredibly soothing. I needed something very gentle after coming off a fast, and this hit the spot in every way. The veggies were so fresh, the broth was perfectly balanced, and everything was cooked to perfection. Hats off to the chef, and to the amazing customer service! You can truly taste the love and care in every bite. 👏🏻

Google
Pho was one of the best I had. And exactly how people mention in other reviews, the servers are the nicest and kindest people. Thank you!

Google
Good bun bo hue with fast service on a cold rainy day. Prices don’t match the Google menu pictures but it tasted good and that’s all that matters. The extra additional vegetables were a nice touch.

Google
Phò Tôn is my go to for pho and vermicelli salad. The ingredients are fresh, high quality, deliciously prepared and mindfully presented. The staff is friendly and the service is impeccable. When you ask for fish sauce they will bring you a whole bottle. I like it so much that I will even suffer through the terrible music they play on repeat.

Google
I enjoyed their Bun Bo Hue and it was delicious and had a taste similar to the ones in Viet Nam. The staff is very friendly and she frequently checked on me about the food. The whole area is a little bit small but the parking lot is ample. It is a good place to try some Vietnamese cuisine in the town. Love coming here

Google
Amazing food 2 nd time eating here. I'm hooked.

Google
Absolutely wonderful customer service, food came out very quick. Very friendly atmosphere, will definitely be coming back again.

Yelp
Wow... that was some of the best pho I have ever had. Even with no additions, the soup was fresh and flavorful. I got the flank meat, which was tender. My husband got the flank, brisket, and I around, and he was happy with his dish as well. Our daughter ordered the pork bahn mi sandwich, which was served on a foot-long baguette. She said it was very flavorful. We also tried the pork egg rolls, which were delish. The place looks very dive-y from the outside but was cuter inside. The service was perfect- attentive and friendly. Prices seemed a little high for that location but are similar to what you'd pay elsewhere. Definitely recommend if you are looking for tasty pho in Vancouver!

Yelp
Vermicelli bowl and pho were both delicious. All their vegetables were incredibly crispy and fresh. The $1.00 extra for a large bowl of pho is such a steal and will leave you comfortably stuffed. Really appreciated the quick and friendly service. The lady working the front is a true hustler -- bussing tables, taking orders, checking people in / out.

Yelp
I went here today for lunch and I must say that I'm very impressed. Parking is difficult during lunch time so often you have to find parking elsewhere. Despite being very busy and very understaffed (one person was doing all of the serving), the service was quick and very friendly! I ordered the shrimp and pork salad rolls as an appetizer and their famous Bún bò Huế as my main. The salad rolls came out fast and tasted very fresh. The soup came out quickly and was delicious. Plenty of meat and blood cubes, with fresh ingredients and an actually spicy broth. Some of the best Bún bò Huế I've ever had. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
WOW is right!!! Looks super sketch on the outside, but holy moly so worth it!! We got the brisket Pho & springs rolls. Some of the best pho I've ever had. Our server was very sweet & food came out fast. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
As I am very picky with my pho, this is my go to spot in vancouver! My pho always comes out hot and the side veggies are always fresh. Service is great as they are constantly coming around and very attentive. I'd definitely recommend this place over all others in vancouver if you're craving a good bowl of pho!

Yelp
There's only a few places in Vancouver that I like for pho and Pho Ton is definitely one of them. The staff is so nice and friendly and the service is usually decent. Lunch time they're pretty busy but the food doesn't take that long to arrive. Their soups and fried rice dishes are so flavorful. Decent sized portions for the price. The restaurant itself is very small and tight and the parking is even worse.

Yelp
The spicy level on this bun Bo Hue is. My gf and I have been on the hunt for good BBH but didn't want to go to Portland. The Vietnamese restaurants in Vancouver tends to be a hit and miss and I take reviews from non Vietnamese p with a grain of salt. But I had to give this place a try because I read they're known for their BBH. I have to say this place was better than I expected! The flavor and spice level was perfect. Customer service was attentive and not overbearing. My only recommendation is to add more meat and cha Lua to the BBH and it would have been perfect. But it's nice to know that there's a good restaurant not too far from where I live! I'll definitely come back and try their other items. BBH is 4/5 but customer service bumps it to 5.

Yelp
Ordered Bahn Mi sandwiches. Pork and chicken. Both were great sandwiches! Bread was crisp, meat was tasty and veggies were fresh. The internet was down in the whole area so they were not able to take cards which was a problem for several people who walked in and out.

Yelp
Been a longgggg time since i have been here. One of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants. Probably my favorite for the fresh shrimp and pork salad rolls w peanut sauce. And the stew with french bread delicious!! Always top on my list of great food.

Yelp
WOW!! Just moved here from Cali and have tried COUNTLESS pho places that all leaves more to be desired. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! Parking is a little hard but man is this the most authentic pho I've had. The pork egg rolls are DIVINE. I usually have to add things into my pho and I didn't have to add anything. It's full of flavor and the potions are big! Service was great! Food came out quick! What a great little find!

James T.

Yelp
My wife and I eat here several times a month because the pho is the best in the area, arguably the best I've eaten. But if you stop at the pho you're cheating yourself. The salad rolls are incredible, pristinely fresh and always tasty. The rice noodle dishes are fantastic and so are the other soups. Service is fast and friendly.

Yelp
New to the area and was craving pho so wanted to try this place out. When we walked in I saw an Asian man eating the bun Bo hue which I thought if he's here eating it then it must be good so decided to give it a shot which I'm so glad I did! It was so flavorful and had a ton of meat. I'm always skeptical about ordering dishes other than what the restaurant is known for, esp at Vietnamese places but they did the BBH right here. Service was great as well, server came to check on us twice which is rare, if you know, you know. Very glad I found a great BBH spot in Vancouver so I don't have to drive to Portland now! Price was also very reasonable.

Yelp
First time I've had food from Pho Ton, I've passed by it for so many years. We ordered a pho and a vermicelli rice noodle plate (didn't take any photos). Their beef pho was good, broth was flavorful with good amount of meat and herbs too. The vermicelli rice noodle plate had a good amount of noodles, meat and veggies. Overall, good food.

David B.

Yelp
Terrific food and service every time we go! My office makes it a point to have a lunch out together weekly, and we have a consensus visit every month minimum to Pho Ton. Owner knows everyone in the place, she puts in the work, and makes everyone feel comfortable. I went in on a weekend day last week with my girlfriend, and the owner wasn't working, so I had to try and remember what it was I always get - and struggled. So the server said "hang on", pulled out her phone, face timed, owner answers, and she says - oh ya, he wants (whatever the Pho I always get is). We've been going for years, and they never disappoint. Good people, terrific food, we love it. You will too.

Yelp
Best Pho In Vancouver. Get the P1 with no tripe, add fresh cut basil and bean sprouts, a little hosin, a little Sriracha (yes meatballs and yes to beef). Their broth is good for the soul. I would come here or order to go every single day if I could. Consistently irresistible every single time. The chicken Pad Thai with side order of extra peanut sauce is also extremely good. I also love their spring rolls! This is a go to place for date, and a nice meal with the whole family.
google avatar

Sabrina P.

Yelp
Food, service and ambiance were great! The owner is very friendly and it is family owned and operated.
google avatar

Steve V.

Yelp
Katie's still moving through the room, smiling and remembering everyone's favorite order. Serving up bomb pho. She makes the broth fresh every morning. Best in Vancouver region.
google avatar

Wen Q.

Yelp
Super quick and friendly service. BBH was really nice and came with all the veggies. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Delicious! I had Pho. A big bowl of piping hot, rich, broth with perfect amount of beef, onions and herbs. Best I've had in Vancouver. My husband had the bbq pork vermicelli salad. He kept eating even though he was full . So good. And the egg rolls were crispy and hot. Excellent. The service was friendly and attentive. Prices are very fair. We will be back. Highly recommend

Val G.

Yelp
Best pho in town! Service is amazing. Highly recommend this place. Hard to find parking during lunch and dinner.

Yelp
It's hit or miss. I love the service. You can tell it's a good spot because a lot of Asians are in there dining.
google avatar

Diane D.

Yelp
Great Vietnamese food. Authentic. We come here a lot. Service is a bit slow. Wish the can expand the restaurant a bit, it's on the smaller side.

Kevin T.

Yelp
Probably my favorite pho place without going to Portland, OR. Standard good services and pretty good food
google avatar

Yelp
Small hole in the wall with delicious BBH. I came in and waited a few seconds at the counter. Took my order to go. It was quick under 5 minutes for one Bun Bo Hue. Lady was super nice asked if it was my first time and hoped I enjoyed it. I did. I will be back when I'm the area. Spicy deliciousness
google avatar

Christina J.

Yelp
Cute little place..I ordered the Pho Tai and you can tell the broth was fresh and made from scratch. Even though I ordered a small bowl they were very generous with their portions. Friendly service and great food!
google avatar

Joe M.

Yelp
The pho here is outstanding! Coming from Vegas and the great food scene, it's hard to find authentic places that are as solid as can be found scattered around Chinatown in Vegas. This place did not disappoint. The broth was excellent and veggies to top it were fresh. The service was fast and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. My only regret is I don't have more time in Vancouver to try a couple more dishes here.

J L.

Yelp
Food was good. But the most impressive thing about the place is the lady working there. Wow!! She was like 5 in one, hostess, server, cashier, buss person, phone order person, and food delivery person. Ohhh, and she was super nice and very attentive.

Mona L.

Yelp
read how good this place was, then got there and was afraid-exterior was sketchy, but had to try. Place felt dirty, like a layer of scum accumulated over what felt like 50 years. Pho was large, but so was the bill $20 for 1 bowl. Got the mixed meat Pho which came with meatballs that were like rubber heals of a shoe. I have had WAY better for less $
google avatar

Pam V.

Yelp
Probably one of the very few good pho spots in Vancouver. Beef stew and egg rolls are also a good choice! Recommend!

Tony N.

Yelp
Service friendly, awesome delicious foods , clean local place to go to, the broths of all the soups taste freshly made daily.

Kathryn A.

Yelp
The best pho in Vancouver hands down - Highly recommend the pho ga or pho tai. Friendly and good for dine in or take out.
google avatar

Joe Z.

Yelp
Pho was delicious. Salad rolls fresh and excellent. Service was fast and server checked in with us every 7-8 minutes. Very friendly staff. Our new favorite Pho place. We have been going to Pho Vi Van for 10 years. went outside of the comfort of what we are used to and seen what we were missing. Vi Van is good, but not as good as Pho Ton. Vi Van = No customer service, very typical asian restaurant. Pho Ton makes you feel like they are really happy your there. Will be back often in future.

Yelp
Not the best broth and not the worse broth. you guys know how i love my pho..... the only bad thing about this place is the parking lot, makes you want to leave and go somewhere if there is no parking. The lot is small and shared with a latino food shop and zumba studio. I still think the BG pho has the best broth so far, even in Portland. but i think its like $12. this place was a dollar cheaper I think. People were as friendly as they will ever be, but not rude. broth was very hot like i like it, there was a good portion of meat and the noodles, well they always go overboard on the noodles, i always ask for 1/2 the noodles. the broth had a decent flavor and it didn't just taste like salty water. Bottom line: would i come here again? if i was in the area and not going back home. YES if parking sucks, NO

Alex K.

Yelp
Best pho in Vancouver 100% recommend Broth taste amazing you don't need to add anything sauce to it

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't left a review on this place yet. I have been coming here for years for their pho; it is the BEST and most flavorful pho I have ever had. They also are quite fast at preparing your order yet everything is so fresh (regardless if it is pho or a noodle dish). I drive 10 minutes out of my way to get this pho instead of the numerous other closer places. Their customer service is also remarkable. I always get their beef pho with tofu and extra herbs. Their location is a small restaurant connected to a car wash but do not let that deter you. It is incredible.

Marianna M.

Yelp
Been coming here since I was a little girl and my family loves this place we still beg our dad to eat it with us and the service is nothing but warm and welcoming
google avatar

Leah S.

Yelp
Best pho broth we've had in Vancouver all these years. Always clean but so flavorful. Friendly staff, parking is hard at times but worth it
google avatar

Horizun T.

Yelp
I'm gonna keep it simple. First time I've been here. Very modest appearance from the outside. Nothing fancy. But go inside, & the smell immediately hits you and you already know immediately you're not gonna be leaving hungry. That feeling was exactly right. Got the 1C, all beef special with the works. Shrimp and pork rolls with peanut sauce. Absolute fire. Taste the broth before you add any sauce, the amount of flavor will make you cry. Only gets better from there once you add sriracha/hoisin or chilis. 10/10 will be back to cry over the broth again.
google avatar

Tina L.

Yelp
The food is authentic and the pho is similar to my moms home cooked pho. Katie the owner is very kind and remembers you when you visit. She remembers my favorite order and is happy to serve you. The service is always quick and the ambiance is cozy and home like. My favorite dishes include pho, vermicelli noodles & grilled pork, salad rolls, and egg rolls.
google avatar

Emma L.

Yelp
Best Bun Bo Hue in town. I usually come here once a week for their spicy beef noodle soup. It's fully favored and so yummy. Veggies are always fresh. Chili oil is different than before and doesn't look that good but it's spicy enough. The service is quick and perfect for lunch. Parking is kinda inconvenient for lunch time around 12-1pm.

Yelp
COVID or not This is the spot I never liked pho "It's good for you you know" Veggie pho was on point This is the joint Friend got a bahan mi He's a picky eater Said it's the best he ever had This made us both glad Eat it or not This is the spot They even treat you with respect All of this is easy to accept

Yelp
Our spot for pho when in Vancouver! Our friendly server always remembers our orders, the food is consistently plentiful/delicious, and fast.

Yelp
This place came highly recommended and after trying it out I know why!!!! We ate here three times in one week! It was worth every penny! The pho flavors makes my mouth water. The aroma this restaurant offers is very inviting! We enjoyed the shrimp rice, pork Bun, pork Banh mi and the pork egg rolls all very well flavored and memorable! I know this is our spot for many future dinners to come!

Yelp
First visit to this Vietnamese restaurant. It was busy, yet service was quick. I had never experienced the Banh Mi sandwich before, but since I like Asian foods, and this is a staple in Vietnam, I had to try it. They offer chicken or pork, so I ordered both to go. After unwrapping, they are beautiful little packages of flavor. The bread in a thin baguette with crusty exterior and soft interior. I ate the pork one for lunch, and will save the second for tomorrow's lunch. Inside is a variety of fresh and pickled vegetables. The only caveat is the jalapeños (or possibly another pepper) were spicy, so order it without or remove if you don't tolerate heat. It reminded me of Tom Yum soup or Pho in sandwich form. Delicious and recommended.

Hope P.

Yelp
I pulled into Pho Ton today because I wasn't feeling well (just the sniffles) and I always want soup when I don't feel well. First of all, don't drive around the back of the building because then you're stuck in a very small area and have to back out (thank goodness for rear cameras). The outside of the building is not much to look at. Who cares. When I went in, there was only one customer. The interior is not new and flashy. Again, who cares? It's clean and orderly. I went to the counter and asked if they could do a chicken curry pho. She explained that it's not on the menu but they'd do it for me. The menu, by the way, is extensive. Large laminated menus and all very clean. I waited for maybe 6 minutes and then took my bag of pho home. It's one of the best bowls of pho I've ever had. The soup is rich and savory, the chicken is plentiful, there are no bits of sinewy chicken to pick around. The noodles are delicious. The greens are fresh. I had half of it and I'm stuffed. The other half will be my delicious lunch tomorrow. GO TO PHO TON.

Yelp
Found this place on guess where?... Yelp! We were at home looking food to oder for pick up. They have multiple locations. We ended up at this location as the one by our house (#4) is closed on Mondays. I called our order in and was instructed to call when we pulled up. The restaurant was very (covid) accommodating. She was already outside helping a few other cars that had pulled up. She made sure she knew our order and took my card for payment. We ordered: 4A. Ch Gi Chay 3 pieces. Fried veggies eggrolls - Hot and fresh, smaller size but good for 1 or two folks with sauce (nuoc mam) 11E. Bn Tm G Grilled shrimps and chicken noodle salad.- You get 3 shrimp on the skewer and chicken, pickled veggies, cucumber, Nuoc mam 2H. Cm Tm Tht Grilled pork, shrimps rice plate.- Same as above but with pork and rice. Also the yummy green onions which I always forget to ask for more (do yourself a favor and get extra green onions) Mango smoothie with gellies (they were out of boba) My boyfriend almost killed it before the short drive back home! When we got home our food was all correct and plenty of utensils. They do charge a to-go order fee of $0.75 which was not a problem for us.

Jarrett M.

Yelp
Consistently amazing PHO. Broth is dank and amazing, staff is always friendly. Parking lot is a bit of a challenge. I drive all the way from hood river just to eat here.

Angelica H.

Yelp
The service was great! I was greeted as soon as I walked in. I decided to order the spicy lemongrass chicken noodle bowl which was a bigger portion than I expected. Can't complain about that! The only reason I didn't give it a 5/5 is due to price. While portions were nice, and it was quite tasty, I'm not entirely convinced it was worth what I paid. Flavor was very good but just not extremely good

Yelp
Wow my mom took my here and said this is the best spot for pho. And if you mom is any thing like my mom, no one can cook better then her. She is the type of mom you cannot take to any Asian restaurant as she can always make it better. Welll, I was skeptical at first and then I had the chicken pho and it was amazingly delicious. Service was good as well. One lady working to assist all customers and still maintaining the same level of food quality. Can't wait to come back when I am back in town.
