Was the best pho and bahn mi delivery I’ve had in a while. I appreciated that the meat for the pho came in the broth which was separate from the noodles. I did have to reheat the noodles and broth as the noodles were a bit stuck together but the flavor and packaging was amazing. Bahn mi had that signature crusty bread with the sweet pickled carrots and then fresh cucumber and cilantro. And exceptionally priced! You can’t beat it, I think it was like $25 for the beef pho and pork bahn mi. Will most definitely be ordering take out again and even visiting the location in person!

Google
Walked in around 12 PM on a weekday to pick up my takeout order and oh my word, this place smells amazing. This was only topped by the food I took home- spring rolls bursting to the brim, steaming hot pho and a banh mi that rivaled those I get back in Dorchester. Customer service was 10/10. Will be back for sure!

Google
Our first Vietnamese food experience, I was a unique experience. Not open to customization! If you ask to make food hot, they will give hot sauce on the side! Worst crab rangoon I have had ever, only cream cheese and no crab! Options were many, and you will get something for yourself for sure. Overall a good take out place, open until 11 PM is a plus. I would have given 3.5/5 but google don’t give me that option.

Tastes really good. Big portions too!! Special Vietnam sandwich is really good and very reasonably priced. But try to order early as they might run out of bread around dinner time. Spicy beef noodle soup overall is good, but I did encounter some of the noodle are too dry and hard. Chicken rice is yummy as well.

Google
Such amazing food and an even more amazing staff. Excellent quality, awesome portions and a friendly environment. Today I met my match with their New Saigon Noodles and delicious Taro bubble tea. This may quite possibly be the best bubble tea I have had in ages. I am looking forward to trying the other flavors Happy to have them in the neighborhood.

Google
Delicious, authentic Vietnamese food served by the loveliest people. Their pho is rich, hearty, and perfectly cooked (even for takeout!), vermicelli & bahn mi have fresh, crunchy veggies and flavorful, tender meat. They take dietary restrictions and allergies seriously. You can't get better than Pho Viet's II!

I come back to try new dishes often, and each one never fails to blow my taste buds! They make something as simple as congee tastes like it’s full of flavor. Highly recommend the chicken curry, you won’t regret it!

We are big fans of Pho Viet's II! We've been several times, so we've tried a number of things: The banh mi (sandwiches) is our favorite! The bread is fresh, the meat is well-marinated and flavorful, the fixings are standard (cucumbers, pickled daikon & carrot, jalapenos, cilantro), and the melting butter spread inside the bun takes it to another level! The bread makes a difference - at some places, my jaw will end up being sore from all the chewing, but not here! We get a banh mi pretty much every time we're here. The pho (noodle soup) is solid - the broth is pleasantly beefy in flavor, not too sweet or salty. Happily fulfills my pho/noodle soup cravings. The noodle salad is solid as well, with well-marinated meat and standard fixings (bed of lettuce, bean sprouts, and noodles, topped with pickled vegetables, cilantro, scallions, and crushed peanut). The egg rolls are scrumptious - a crisp, flaky wrapping, filled with a tasty mixture of minced pork, vermicelli, mushroom (and more) with a balanced wrap-to-filling ratio. The scallion pancakes are fine - they're fried a bit too much for my taste, but still retain a decent amount of scallion flavor. The milk tea is actual tea (not from powder or concentrate), and they use sweetened condensed milk - the good stuff. You can ask for less sweetness, which just means less condensed milk. The tapioca bubbles are okay, depending on the time of day.

Yelp
I was craving some pho and decided to check out Pho Viet's II in Newton. Although I had planned to dine in, I learned they were only doing takeout, so I rolled with it. I ordered the special beef noodle soup (#14), the vegetable spring rolls, and the chicken wings. First off, I was blown away by how generous the portions were! The pho was fantastic. They packed it with noodles and plenty of tender meat, and the broth was warm, flavorful, and just the right amount of spicy after they added some chili oil for me. The portion was so hearty that I saved the spring rolls and chicken wings for a second meal the next day. The veggie spring roll was fresh, large, and filled with noodles and tofu. It came with a delicious peanut sauce that was perfect for dipping. As for the chicken wings, they were huge, tender, and packed with flavor. At around $8 each, both of these appetizers were an amazing value. I wish I had taken photos, but I was too hungry to wait! I'll definitely be going back to try another pho and some different sides. Overall, I was really pleased with everything I tried, and I can't wait for my next visit!

Yelp
Pho Viet's II, the best Vietnamese food spot in the Newton area. Currently, they're only doing takeout orders (no dine-in). Staff prepares the food SUPER quick it's incredible. Took less than 10 minutes for our entire order to be ready. We tried their spring rolls with shrimp + beef, bun bo hue, lemongrass chicken leg rice plate, & lemongrass sliced beef rice plate. Overall, everything was solid and had perfect flavor. I wish that they included slices of white/yellow onions to put in my soup but there was only green scallions. Parking: Plenty of parking (meters) right outside and across the street. Totally recommend coming here if you're in the area and looking for authentic Viet food.

Yelp
This is THE Vietnamese spot in the newton waltham area. Quick, easy and consistent. Being as viet food always is hard to judge when your folks chef it up heavy. I'm glad this family opened in newton. This location is takeout now, the staff, family that owns it and the bosses are all super sweet and service is top notch. We got the Bo Nuong, Ga nuong (chicken leg) lemon grass rice plates and the BBH (Bun Bo Hue). Also got the fresh spring rolls. The chicken thigh with rice marinated to perfection, taste the lemongrass and the grill of the chicken. It was juicy and a great portion with rice, hot sauce and fish sauce. One of the few i enjoy this particular dish from since DK in Chinatown closed! We also got the Bo (beef) version and the slices were plentiful, tender melting in mouth type! Veggies and pickled sides were all fresh, clean and eye appealing. The BBH had a good broth. The meat was tender, probably ask for some additional purple cabbage to go for the BBH next time but very enjoyable! The spring rolls were got beef and shrimp combo, i must say they are a Hefty lot!!! So you could get full off it haha welcome surprise and thank you Chi hai! Come thru if you want quality, efficiency, and kind service! Then go home and destroy the finger licking goodness!

Yelp
Food is the most authentic Viet food near me without going into Boston. I've had Banh Mi, curry, and noodle soups, and all have had great flavor and amazing broths consistently. Bread is always crispy. Only downside is that it's takeout only but overall 100% worth it every time!

Cheryl U.

Yelp
We ordered lunch for pick up, a grilled chicken bahn mi and chicken and shrimp summer rolls- I wish they used the same chicken that was in the bahn mi for the summer rolls because the summer roll chicken was so hard and chewy... like it was over cooked? I asked for sriracha and was told there was already one in the pack, I asked for an extra and it maybe was a communication issue or they only give 1 per order but we def could've used another. The bahn Mi was tasty and everything but the chicken in the summer roll was good- I'll have to try the tofu summer roll next time, with extra sriracha

Claire L.

Yelp
Everyone in my family loves the grilled beef sandwich. Affordable and so tasty. The bread is crispy, the side dish with beef together is such a wonderful combination. Service is good and fast for pick up. No dine in currently.

Will W.

Yelp
Located in a corner of Newton Center, this is mainly a takeout spot for their Newton location. They've got some pretty solid eats - with each and every bite being pretty flavorful, and good portions for their prices, despite their small staff and cozy store. Would definitely recommend their pork banh mi, as well as their rolls!

George H.

Yelp
I've been here before, and always felt that the food was very good, so I was surprised that they have moved to strictly takeout service. Not sure why, perhaps due to staffing issues. The staff that was present was friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Pandemic Review 2022 and my 2000th review Pho Viets II took over that No. 1 Noodle House spot in Newton Center. And currently during covid they are offering takeout only. They are a small 2 spot family run chain, with the original having moved down the street from the Allston Chinese market food court over to 1022 Commonwealth Ave in Brookline. When placing your order, be careful to be sure to select and head over to the correct location! We picked up a few things to share. Their grilled Vietnamese sandwiches are $7 (not spicy please) apiece, with added pate for a buck. The grilled beef bahn mi was parent approved! The vegetables & tofu egg fried rice $12.85 was good, a good portion, and had plenty of firm crisp veggies. Chicken $4 or shrimp $5 could be easily added for a surcharge. Their lemongrass protein comes on either rice as a rice plate (com dia) or on vermicelli as a bun, with various pork or chicken sharing one price point while other proteins such as beef on their own a bit higher up, with the vermicelli starting at $11.25, while the rice began at $11.50. Fried spring roll(s) can be added to the meat and vermicelli (bun) bowls for $2, or alternatively, #49 offers a preset combo of spring roll for $12.30 with your choice of protein ($1 surcharge for beef only), so my guess is that the portion might be adjusted somewhat, so this may be the better option for the lighter weight diner. Too bad the kitchen was backed up, but otherwise things were fine! I didn't get to try their spring roll, but the grilled pork and beef on the rice and vermicelli and the fresh veggies with the fish sauce on the side (I added it myself!) were good here and made for rather refreshing a meal. *** Their beef short ribs over rice looked good but were rather tough to chew for the most part. But it seemed to depend on the piece of meat, as at least one diner didn't have the same experience as me. Personally, we'll probably avoid this dish in the future. Their shrimp lo mein was strongly flavored and came with a good mix of firm brightly colored vegetables. A decent choice when looking for cooked veggies, besides the salad side accompaniment that comes with their meat and vermicelli plates. *** Been back in 2023. The Vietnamese subs are now $8, plus $1 for the pate. And the primary dishes we get here are $13.95 for the chicken leg rice plate, lemongrass pork with vermicelli, and the vegetable tofu egg fried rice.

Yelp
This continues to be my favorite Vietnamese spot in Boston after they opened about 5 years ago! The team there are always so kind which makes it feel like a true local and family business. They moved to takeout only post COVID but it works great. The food is well packaged and still tastes great. My son is obsessed with their crispy noodles (which they also customize for us with a smile) and I can't order food without getting myself a Vietnamese iced coffee! My newest favorite is the beef cubes with rice! Great to see the business continues to be busy every time I stop in!

Norm C.

Yelp
We order from here all the time but occasionally the dishes just aren't right. They have got to be careful. We ordered the specialty summer roll with pork only. Tasted great. The very next day we ordered the same but they suggested to switch to the beef due to allergy accommodations. We invoked them off the a same exact allergies and it's just routine for us to inform everyone. They obviously knew but for whatever reason a mix up must have occurred. Sadly it's life or death. You cannot take it back after the trigger has been pulled. Came home, ate the specialty summer roll with beef. Surprise, it's got peanuts ! I had no idea the roll had peanuts in it. I thought it was just rice noodle, basil, meats wrapped. Had to rush to the emergency room afterwards. First time using the Epipen after 10 years. They did compensate us back for the spring roll. Really helped with the sub 1% of the emergency room bill. It's going to take us a while to muster any guts to try again. So sad, really do like this place.

Yelp
got wrong food, despite ordering in person. The older lady who was taking my order ( owner?) picked up the phone WHILE I was talking to her telling her what I wanted ( leaving me waiting to finish taking their order, though I was first and in the middle of talking - is this rude or the new norm?) After she hang up she continued rushing me, I TRIPLE emphasized I wanted 3 different dishes ( stating the numbers) when I got home TWO dishes were not even there! no fried rice, and no ginger scallion. instead we got the same dish 2 times! ! just making it look different by separating the rice on one, and leaving it in the container for the others. utterly disappointing experience from a place that claims " best of Boston" will NOT go back and let my friends know as well. what a waste of money and time.

Sara S.

Yelp
Still continuing to eat at Pho Viet. Their food is a go-to for my family. If you are going to get a Bahn mí or Vietnamese sandwich I would highly suggest the tofu one. Even if you don't really like tofu, I guarantee you will like it here. Even as a meat eater, I think it tastes the best. For drinks, I would also recommend the lychee ice, its very different from anything I have ever had. The service is also amazing, they are genuinely so sweet there. I think since COVID they have transitioned into being take out early, but don't let that turn you away, you can go sit at the picnic benches right down the street to enjoy your food.

Wong's F.

Yelp
Fake ass Chinese restaurant pretending to be Vietnamese run by Chinese people faking Vietnamese accents. The curry chicken is too watery and spicy and I only got 3 fucking pieces of chicken that were meant to be big and the amount of rice was small.

Derek L.

Yelp
I have just spent 21 months in Asia and past 18 in Vietnam...Ate Pho almost once a week for awhile, got to the point where I actually started only eating other foods out of getting too much. Pho Viet's I went to last week after flying back and unfortunately for lunch it was only take out. But the food was still as good as the last time I went nearly two years ago. A word of advice to single male travelers who have an idea Asia is a wonderland for us...Thailand and the Philippines will be much more easier for a non local language speaker. I was in Vietnam for nearly two years and spent most of that time alone. This last post I am posting I wrote summer of 2021. Just posting it now as I had it on draft.

Elise S.

Yelp
I am obsessed with the grilled chicken bahn mi and the summer rolls with chicken and shrimp. For Boston, these are so well priced for a really great meal. All the workers I have met have been kind and friendly, despite sometimes a long wait during peak hours. I wish they offered a dine in option, but I have always had good experiences with their online ordering options.

Jordyne W.

Yelp
Delicious chicken rice noodle soup, pad thai, etc. that our whole family from kids to grandparents love. It's always a pleasure to see the team. Kelly at reception and the whole staff are always so warm and friendly!

Sara T.

Yelp
Everytime I pick up food here I'm greeted with amazing aromas and a smile. The woman who is the cashier/ customer service is so nice and welcoming. The food is always delicious and consistent! I would definitely recommend to friends and also anyone looking to try different types of cuisine.

L J.

Yelp
They are currently takeout only. This was disappointing as I'm from out of town and went all the way to Newton with a group of friends only to find out we couldn't dine in. No where is this communicated on their website nor business pages on Yelp and Google. They boast all these accolades on their website and mention two "great locations", they could easily add a note to the Newton location to say "Take-Out Only". And all of their recent business images (under a year old) show their menu items plated, so it looks even more like a dine-in restaurant.

Abigail S.

Yelp
We are not from the area. We live in NYC but come up with our kids once a year and we always try to get Pho Viets at least twice during our stay! The food is delicious. We love all the pho and all the banh mi! Their dumplings are delicious, steamed or pan fried, my daughter's favorite. And their summer rolls are my 6 year old's favorite. I've even had some of their drinks and they're also so good. They're very affordable! We have a favorite affordable Vietnamese spot at home that we love and this is even more affordable!!! But also their customer service is great. We went in early yesterday and my 4 year old became restless and a little loud so they offered all my kids stickers. When that didn't help, they tried to gather the food as quickly as possible. After my husband left, they realized they forgot something in the order. They called immediately and they even came outside ready to bring it to our car! When we got home we realized they had accidentally given us something different than our pan fried dumpling order. Meh no big deal for us because it was delicious! This morning we discovered they refunded the pan fried dumplings...on their own! They must have realized they made a mistake and refunded it. How awesome are they! I don't have any pictures because we just eat is so fast I never think to take pictures

John F.

Yelp
The best Bom Mei sandwich in Boston. The staff is great. Other great traditional dishes.

Jake M.

Yelp
Very, very good. Specially the bahn mi, summer rolls and every soup I've tried! Only take out but prompt service. Definitely check it out

Jen C.

Yelp
I ordered take out from Pho Viet's II on a Sunday evening. We ordered the lemongrass beef vermicelli and a beef banh mi. The food was ready to pick up after 10 minutes, which was super fast! A ton of people clearly had the same idea, since there were tons of cars pulled up waiting for their food. The beef vermicelli was very good. I got a side of fish sauce, since it's essential! I also asked for a side of sweet chili sauce which I also added on top. The beef was very flavorful and tender, and the vermicelli noodles were very refreshing! The beef banh mi (not pictured because I inhaled that as soon as I could) was delicious! I almost feel like the banh mi is more worth than the beef vermicelli, since it's almost half the price while having basically the same amount of meat. But, you can't go wrong either way! Overall, we loved all the food and I'll definitely be back for another beef banh mi!!

S. C.

Yelp
Best pho in the area - far better than Star Foods nearby. Generous portions, well packed.

Lisa G.

Yelp
I love the pho at this place! This is another place I love for "comfort food in a bowl," lol. I love the chicken pho. The service is great for take out. However, it was great when you could dine in; I don't know if they will ever allow that again. The decor is very nice to look at while you're waiting for your order.

Jessica S.

Yelp
great food. fast and helpful service. lots of menu items for all dietary needs. will be returning!!

Bun C.

Yelp
Very friendly people and good service. Got takeout and portions were so generous! The food was not overwhelmingly heavy and the taste was good. Will be back to try other dishes.

A Good Consumer D.

Yelp
I was horrified to see a gentleman wait on me with food gloves on taking cash. It made my stomach turn. If I hadn't said anything he would have gone right back to the kitchen handing food. PLEASE. Money is dirty. Food handling needs to be taken seriously. One person handles money. One person handles food. If you need to do both then take the gloves off and put on fresh ones when you touch food. I can't eat here knowing that that put on gloves, make food, touch counters, cash register, tables, themselves, money and don't change gloves. Ewwww.

bonita n.

Yelp
Our takeout food was excellent. Hubby had tofu banh mi and I had a pair of chicken/shrimp fresh rolls, which were big, with excellent sauce. We went into the storefront to order in person. They told my husband it would take 10 minutes. We were surprised when we went back to be asked, "What filling do you want in the fresh rolls?" Why didn't they ask that when we ordered?

Jennifer G.

Yelp
They are excellent kind and professional and on time with takeout orders. I really love their bun topped with lemongrass chicken and their boba! I was pleasantly surprised last by the generous portion of the takeout dinner compared to other VN restos. VN food is my fav cuisine, so I'm trying Bun at several places and this has been one of my fav's in years so far. Highly rec!

isa g.

Yelp
Food here is slightly more expensive than what you would normally pay for Vietnamese takeout but they use premium ingredients so No complaints from me. Food is tasty and portions are generous. I just wish they would add grilled pork or port chop to their menu and not just offer pork belly.

Andrea H.

Yelp
Please bring back the original Banh Mi sandwich with generous carrots and daikon! Please leave off the onions! It used to be so good.

Emily H.

Yelp
My husband ordered chicken rice noodle soup this afternoon and the chicken in the soup is completely rotten. It smells and looks rotten. We called immediately after eating only a little bit and the person who picked up could not help us and instructed us to call back later. We are really hoping that he doesn't get sick from the bad chicken and are anxiously waiting for someone to pick up the phone to help us be refunded and notify other customers of potentially eating chicken that could make them sick.

Patrik S.

Yelp
Delicious traditional Vietnamese.... Exceptionally authentic. The service was with a smile but the place was chaotic. So check your order! They messed up my order twice but the food was kickass ... so who cares!

Victoria C.

Yelp
This Newton location is just as good as the Allston location, located in Newton Centre fitting in with many other restaurants. I ordered online and got a beef banh mi (+$1 pate) and earl gray milk tea (+$.50 boba). The bread is big, perfectly crunchy outside with soft chewy bread inside. It's packed full of beef and vegetables and they definitely don't skimp on the cilantro. The pate gives extra flavoring to the beef to make it a bit saltier. The boba in the milk tea was a bit hard in the middle, but the milk tea flavor was good. Overall, it's a quick and satisfying lunch spot and would recommend it.

Nikki N.

Yelp
Missing some of the authentic Vietnamese flavors in their dishes but generous portions and fresh ingredients! Staff are friendly, and efficient.

Erik F.

Yelp
Food has gotten really bad since pandemic. Cold, lots of gristle. Really disappointing. Frequently miss take out items.

Nicole B.

Yelp
Super nice and fast service. The teas are delicious. Ordered the vermicelli plate with tofu, shredded lettuce, bean sprouts, mint, scallions and roasted peanuts. I paid extra to add vegetables (broccoli, pepper, snow peas, etc). They gave me a massive handful of more shredded lettuce instead.

Jonny F.

Yelp
Outstanding Vietnamese food -- the best in the city, in my opinion! The tofu sandwich is particularly delicious, and the portions are very generous.

Nicole E.

Yelp
They have two versions of the menu. One version says the bubble tea is $3.75, one version says the bubble tea is $4.15. When I was ready to pay for my order, they tried to charge me $10 for each bubble tea! They blatantly tried to take advantage of me and take my money. I explained to them you can't just make up prices. The price is what is outlined on the menu. This wasn't my problem it was theirs. If they had simply honored the price they had listed on their own damn menu, they would have had a good review and a happy customer. Instead, they tried to cheat me over a few dollars and refused to make it right. I don't care how good the food is - this situation was RIDICULOUS. They can't be trusted. Don't go here.

George W.

Yelp
Ordered soup. It was bland and had very unpleasant tatse. service was mediocre and completely careless.

Peter C.

Yelp
Good spot for vietnamese food in Newton center. Counter service, and limited seating will be a challenge on busy nights. PROS: Great pho. Clean, new, and bright. Friendly staff. The food was delicious. The Boba tea had the freshest balls I've ever had. Most places they're chewy. Here they had the right consistency. I'd go for the boba alone. CONS: Chaotic. the list of things they ran out of on a Friday night exceeded the list of things they had. No Banh Mi of any kind. No smoothies. We eventually just asked what they still had and settled on pho dishes. It's counter service, but the menus were at the counter, blocked by people already ordering. They need a better system. We stood there trying to jockey for position just to get a menu, while the people ordering had all of them and clearly could have used 1 to point out what they knew they wanted. OVERALL: I'm sure they're still working out the kinks since they're new. You should most certainly stop in and try it.

John Y.

Yelp
Pho Viet's 2 replaced No. 1 Noodle House in Newton Centre. Their first location is at Super 88 food court in Allston near Boston University. They have a similar menu. They offer lots of noodle soup and rice plate options. They renovated the place a little bit...Repainted and new furniture so everything looks nice and clean. The layout is the same. We tried out the place over the weekend and order a #14 (Special noodle soup) and a #25 (Bun Bo Hue). Prices seemed a little higher at this location. Also there's no size selection for the soups like the other place. Their dishes were tasty but one complaint is its on a saltier side. Tip don't sit up front...It's very cold.

Alicia C.

Yelp
I LOVE this place for takeout, food quality and service. There was brief time in early Covid when they were closed and I was thrilled when they re-opened. It is our go-to for take out Vietnamese and I haven't found anyone who disagrees. Thank you for the wonderful service!

Chris B.

Yelp
TL;DR: 100% recommend Ordered takeout from here on Christmas and had a great experience. Takeout during COVID has been fairly hit and miss for me but this order went perfectly (order correct, ready on time, even soup spoons for the pho in the bag). Food: Had the spicy pho and pork bahn mi. Pho was very good (not the best I've ever had but on the upper end for sure) one order would be enough to feed 2 average people or if you separate the noodles before adding the broth you can have a meal for the next day. The bahn mi was amazing, crispy baguette and flavorful pork, exactly what I was craving. Price: About right for the amount of food you get. No complaints here. Service: The lady that helped me was great, very polite and she made sure to verify that everything was in the bag for my order. Overall: 100% will get food from here again. About the only constructive criticism I have is that they should consider offering a half bahn mi. I know I would always add one if they had a half option regardless of what else I ordered.

Maggie Z.

Yelp
They only do take out! The espresso with condensed milk was wayyy to sweet I almost chocked my first sip. I added tons of water and it was still too sweet. I was looking for that typically rich coffee flavor with a hint of sweetness. I'm not sure if I just had a bad batch or something. The banh canh was pretty good. A lot of noodles and it was really filling.

Meg K.

Yelp
It's cold and flu season, and there's nothing more refreshing and comforting than a nice hot bowl of pho. I came to pick up food on a Thursday night near close (they close pretty early) and ordering online was a breeze. I got the meatball pho, chicken egg noodle soup, and the lychee fruit tea with boba. Let me just say that the service was impeccable and the staff are a well oiled machine. They currently only do takeout, but there were several people waiting for orders. The lychee tea was perfect - not too sweet and the boba was perfectly chewy. The bubbles were white, so it may look different from the classic brown sugar boba you might be familiar with, but I absolutely loved the preparation. The soup, though, was astounding. They prepped the takeout containers so well, and the soup was still piping hot after the 20 minute commute back. I loved how hearty the meatballs were, and the broth was incredibly rich and flavorful. The chicken was falling apart in the broth which was delicious. I ate the food too quickly (and drank the tea on the drive back) so I don't have pictures, but know that the portions are generous. One bowl of soup can fill up one hungry person very easily, and I probably could split a bowl with someone else and be perfectly satisfied. Oh yeah; did I mention that this was all for like $30? The prices were incredible! If you need soup, come here!

Annie B.

Yelp
Location=great TASTY food! Always looking forward to my next meal there. Efficient and delicious plus reasonable pricing.

Roa K.

Yelp
Good place to get beef vermicelli & bubble tea for about $20. Everything is always fresh and adequately portioned!
