5 Under-the-Radar New Restaurants to Check Out in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"Offering a taste of Định Quán from Đồng Nai province, this El Monte spot focuses on poached duck preparations—including duck salad (gỏi vịt) and duck noodle soup (bún vịt)—and also serves chicken curry, roasted pork belly, and the regional specialty bánh đúc mặn (steamed rice cakes topped with dried shrimp and pork)." - Cathy Chaplin

Pho Vit 115

Google
This place completely changed my impression of pho. The signature duck and poached chicken were excellent — very clean, authentic flavors. Almost every table ordered them, which says a lot. We also added the youtiao, which was freshly fried and incredibly crispy. The interior is beautifully decorated and feels quite different from a traditional pho restaurant. One interesting note: they don’t accept cash on Saturdays and Sundays. We guessed it might be because the owner isn’t around on weekends — not a complaint at all, just something we found amusing. Overall, a great and memorable dining experience.

Google
Love their duck salad! I've never had duck cooked this way before and it's delicious. They have this awesome deal... if you buy the half duck salad, get a bowl of noodles with it free! But it's dine in only. Been here 2x now and definitely would come back. I want to give food 4.5 stars only bc the Thai tea I had was barely sweet. Didn't love it.

Google
Tried the duck and the chicken, but I prefer the chicken rice noodle. The food is good, and the service is great. They explained the differences between the noodles and were very patient Only thing is the take out portion seems like not as much as the dine in .

Google
Great duck and chicken, noddles are very flavorful. Plenty of parking in the plaza. Not busy during weekday lunch hour

Google
We recently visited Pho Vit 115 for lunch and ordered the Duck Salad and Chicken Salad lunch specials. Each meal came with a choice of noodle soup, making it a hearty and satisfying option. The meat in both dishes was impressively fresh and cooked perfectly. While the price point is slightly higher compared to other pho spots in the area, the quality of the food makes it feel worth it. However, be prepared for some parking challenges; the restaurant is located in a small, busy plaza, and finding a spot can take a little patience. Overall, Pho Vit 115 delivers on fresh, well-prepared dishes and is a great option if you’re craving a quality Vietnamese lunch.

Google
I came back yesterday to enjoy their delicious foods. The owner is always kind and friendly with all customers and the staffs. When you pay, must fill in your phone number to get bonus point, they have free duck or soup depent how many points you have. I wish his business is always busy and wish all the staff all the best things on new year.

Google
Ordered the Dinner Special Half Duck for 2 people (including one pho and one porridge), the number 7 Co'm Vit (Duck with rice), and the number 6 Pho Mang Vit (Duck rice noodle bamboo shoot). The soup broths were noticeably salty which was unusual according to one of the people in our group; would recommend the restaurant to cut down on the salt. The duck broth elements were there but the soup was just too salty. I really enjoyed the porridge which was all you can eat with the Dinner Special option (pho is also an AYCE option too). The porridge had a nice smooth consistency and had hints of duck broth flavor in it; this also came with two blood cubes buried underneath which was a nice surprise if you like blood cubes. The pho noodles are alright but they do feel a bit firm and could do with softening up a bit more. The duck itself was well seasoned and had good flavor, I would say maybe some of the portions didn't have as much meat on them as we would have liked. Overall, this was a really great place to have a dinner with friends or larger groups. There is enough space in the booths and the tables for a family to enjoy a meal together. Service was very prompt and quick to help tend to any requests. Parking in this area can be busy but there is free street parking nearby too.

Yelp
Food: The noodle soup and the duck salad were all delicious! The soups were clean and rich, with an earthy umami taste from the bamboo shoots. The salad was fresh and they gave a lot of duck. Felt like more than half a duck Service: Much better than a typical Asian restaurant. We went for an early lunch so it wasn't packed. When we ordered, the server actually gave us a recommendation to save us some money and get us the same amount of food we would've gotten.

Yelp
The duck combo was delicious and they had pretty good portion sizes. The ambiance was quiet and nondisruptive. The service, however, was not very good. They charged us an extra $10 for bamboo shoots which should have been included in the pho bowl. There were 4 waiters walking around but we still had to ask for the check 3 times before they finally brought it over. I also found it very odd that to get a free drink you have to check in on yelp AND write a review. Normally, it's just check in and the first time I went here, I only had to check in. How do I write a review before even getting my food? Fortunately, I've been here one other time, but the service has gone down by a landslide on this second visit.

Yelp
Came for lunch and it was packed. We waited for a bit for a table since it is a pretty small place and finally got seated after about 30 minutes. The place feels cramped as they are trying to get as many tables as possible and it was so packed that it was very warm. As for the food, I ordered their duck egg noodle soup while my family ordered the duck curry and beef stew. The egg noodle soup was lacking in flavor. The duck felt like it lacked any brine in it to make it flavorful. The noodles were overcooked IMO. The broth was better but since the other components were lacking, it didn't make up the lack of flavor. The curry was more flavorful but also felt like it was watered down which made it more of a soup that a stew. Maybe I needed to order their other duck noodle dishes with the a more clear broth as that looked to be more of what they are known for. Overall, it's unique in that there hasn't been a duck noodle place in the area as far as I know but the flavor of the dishes could be better.

Yelp
At Pho Vit 115, duck is their specialty. Quarter Duck Thigh Salad: There's a bed of shredded cabbage, toasted peanuts, cilantro, and a sweet lime vinaigrette. The generously carved duck seems more like half a duck than a quarter. Each piece is juicy and tender. The tangy vinaigrette is the ultimate sauce for the duck. Dining Area: This spot has about half a dozen booths and half a dozen tables in the middle. Parking: The mini plaza has a fair amount of spots and isn't too busy.

Yelp
This is one of the few places in SGV that serves Pho Vit and it's yummy! I don't really like pho noodles so I like that they also offer Bun noodles. The vit is soft and tasty, my dad prefers it to be on the chewier side but I enjoyed it. The bowl it self didn't have that much duck so we ordered 1/2 duck salad on the side to share. Service was great and quick - I think our food came out 5-10 mins after we placed an order. Highly recommend if you're craving vit.

Yelp
This is one of my moms favorite places to eat, especially because there isn't that many places that specialize in duck. I usually get the mien ga which is the chicken soup with glass noodles and it's so yummy and comforting. but they are known for the duck version which is what my mom likes. the service here is amazing and they really do make sure you enjoy your food. if there is something lacking or something doesn't taste right they will try to adjust it to your liking. it's a little hole in the wall. there was me and another table there but it ended up being a full house around diner time.
google avatar

Yelp
TL;DR - yummy and unique duck on a crispy sweet salad. The broth is really good. Lots of little duck bones are in the meat though so take your time. The duck salad was really unique compared to a lot of the food i usually eat in the 626 area. It wasn't too greasy or salty or anything. Overall it was more lean, flavorful, and especially savory with the dip that comes with the meal. Of note, I really liked the salad that the duck sits on. It's very crunchy, sweet, and has peanuts on it. We also got the duck with glass noodle soup. Its not mentioned on the menu but its a duck salad with a separate medium sized bowl of glass noodles in a classic vietnamese broth (i LOVE this broth but don't know exactly what it is lol ..) The only downside is the number of small duck bones that are still in the duck. You gotta eat it carefully because you'll be constantly spitting out those little pieces throughout your meal. It's just good they cut it up. It's not because they didn't realize it was in there. Overall we had a good time here

Yelp
Very delicious! I and so full. The service was quick and excellent. The price wasn't bad because it's duck. I got 3 bowls of noodles and duck salads for three people. It was very quiet, but then became more busy.
google avatar

Roberta L.

Yelp
Came here a couple of times now for lunch and dinner. The 1/2 duck salad that comes with the "special" is super big and comes with alot of salad. My mom said the salad was the best part. The special now only comes with 1 noodle now! For 2 people you would need to add one plain noodle.
google avatar

Yelp
Pho Vit 115, located in El Monte, is a local joint that has customers during lunchtime. The scene looks nice and cozy, and the staff members are friendly. I got the duck pho, and the duck is actually on the side. You get a large bowl of soup with noodles. Tasty and delicious! If you want to try something different for lunch maybe this is a nice spot for you!
google avatar

Yelp
The servers are very nice and can speak English, Vietnamese and Cantonese. The food is plentiful and venue is clean.

Yelp
Delicious place for Goi Vit or Duck Salad. We came here and get the dinner special which has half a duck salad and you get 2 free either pho or porridge bowls. We got one of each and I was surprised at how flavorful the pho was. The duck was tasty and flavored well with the sauce. I highly recommend!

Yelp
Pho Vit 115 on Valley Blvd. in El Monte. I love Vietnamese food and I love duck and this is the best place for both. My highest recommendation! Super clean restaurant and service from Amy was awesome!

Guru Y.

Yelp
My favorite place at the moment for fresh chicken noodle pho. Very good special, half a chicken with salad and a bowl of pho or rice noodle or clear noodle with or without dry bamboo for $20.00. No one can beat that. The service was great and hot or cold tea or water is free. You could order an extra bowl of pho or rice noodle for an additional $6.99. I went by this place all the time but I didn't know they have chicken pho, because the restaurant sign mentioned duck only. The place is nice and cleaned. And they have Vietnamese ginger dipping sauce, that a wow for me. A lot of chicken pho place close by does not have ginger fish sauce. Minus one star for the pricy plain noodles add on.
google avatar

Rosanna L.

Yelp
Heard they had lunch and dinner specials now. Came back to order their dinner special !! We got the $49.98 deal which came with a whole duck salad and 4 pho or porridge. We got 2 of each. The pho and porridge were full of flavor. My favorite is the porridge. The duck is big and meaty... The salad is very refreshing...I love the fish sauce dressing. Great dinner deal. It was my parents first time and they enjoyed it. Will be back to try out their chicken. It's in a small plaza with plenty of parking. Service was good.

Yelp
This place is pretty good value. The duck salad is pretty tasty- this form of duck generally isn't my favorite since I prefer crispy skin and don't want the hassle of eating around bones, but the ginger sauce and sweet chili dressing really make the dish. The cabbage salad makes it feel healthy too. We got the glass and vermicelli noodles too which came in a nice light broth and lots of scallions and cilantro. Simple but satisfying. Duck pho isn't a super popular offering, so this is a solid spot if you're looking for some duck.

Yelp
Great tasting duck pho, first time ever had it and it's surprisingly tasty. I will be back soon to try other dishes.

Yelp
Had the chicken noodles. Was not bad. But I saw the waiters wipe down chairs and dust the door mat and then handle food with the same gloves. Won't be coming back. And I will be telling everyone.
google avatar

Yelp
Portions are huge here! Half an order of duck can be shared with at least 2-3 other people. Our go to is the pho and half order of duck. The duck blood is also good (for those who like that type of texture). We also ordered the curry and gizzards (huge fan). Also the pandan tea! It's a nice change from normal tea (and free!)
google avatar

Yelp
I come here whenever I go to get my haircut for a nice bowl of noodles of a refreshing salad. My usual picks are the duck salad or chicken curry with vermicelli. The food here is always fresh and never disappoints. Love the flavors of everything! Service is prompt and quick. It's a nice restaurant with ample seating, lots of families come here at peak times.

Yelp
First time trying duck pho and it was delicious! I was a bit skeptical about it because I'm honestly not a huge fan of duck, but it exceeded my expectations. The duck is super juicy and the salad is so good. The dipping sauce that it comes, I think it's like a ginger fish sauce mixture pairs so well with the duck meat. The soup is a bit bland but it balances out with the dipping sauce and salad sauce.
google avatar

Diana T.

Yelp
Duck was juicy and good! The plain noodles and duck salad combo was perfect! I've been looking for a place that sells bun mang vit in socal for years ! Finally a spot :) I recommend.

Yelp
I'm so excited that a Vietnamese Duck pho (noodle soup) place called "Pho Vit 115" opened in El Monte last year. This is my first time trying their duck pho! It's in a small plaza on Valley Blvd. and Gibson Road (close to Baldwin Ave.) The plaza is small so parking can be difficult. They open at 10 a.m. and I got there early around 10:30 a.m. so I found a parking space. The ambiance looks modern with cute decor inside. I like that they are decorated with flowers close to the entrance. I also like the purple interior lighting because I like purple color and it looks elegant. I ordered #5A Pho Vit (Duck rice noodles) for to-go. You can also choose between duck vermicelli or duck glass noodles. The regular size is $14.99 and the large is $15.99 so I ordered the large size. They handed me a cup of hot tea while I was waiting for my to-go order. I was so surprised by such a great service! The tea was good quality indeed. They packaged the to-go order so nicely and secured it. They separated the noodle soup, noodles, and duck into different containers and boxes. The temperature was still hot enough so I put the noodles into the duck noodle soup immediately. The soup broth was a bit salty but it was a perfect match with the noodle. The noodles tasted great. They gave us a good amount of duck meat with a duck leg. I personally like roast duck more than marinated duck, but their duck meat was juicy and flavorful and I also liked the dipping sauce. I also like that they put fried red onion and some shredded veggies inside. If you like bamboo shoots, they also have duck vermicelli bamboo shoots or rice noodles, or glass noodles to choose from. However, I don't like the taste and smell of bamboo shoots. I want to try their duck salad and duck curry when I dine in next time. Overall it was a good experience! I recommend it.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem of a restaurant. Worth it for the duck salad! If you come after 4pm, they have a promo where you get free 2 bowls of pho or porridge (get the pho, you're welcome). Duck salad is perfectly seasoned with the fish sauce, and for only $24.99 (with 2 bowls of pho), you can definitely feed 3 people. Reasonable price, great service, and wonderful tasty food. The ambiance is so cute inside, decorated and very well lit. Would definitely come back and recommend to everyone!
google avatar

Yelp
My first time to try a marinated crispy duck with pho in Pho Vit for specialty restaurant!! The best value of half crispy duck plus pho for 2 people!!! It's free for ice or hot regular tea!! Good place for lunch!! The crispy duck was cut in a month pieces and it's very tasty and delicious... just you have to chew with some duck bones.... If there's a boneless, it would be the best!!! Services were so great n nice attitude!! Environment is designed very elegant for a small specialty shop restaurant...

Yelp
Good for all day meal, big portion of the special deal. Free drink when you check in.

Winston L.

Yelp
We came in at 7pm and the server said they ran out of duck, so we returned the next day at 10am. I'm glad we did, because we had one of the most unique pho dishes out there. Duck pho, where instead of beansprouts and thai basil, the soup is served with a duck salad with shredded cabbage, fried shallots, and a ginger fish sauce dressing. In lieu of hoisin and sriracha, chili sauce and chopped raw chilies accompany the table as condiments for a more intense heat. The noodles in the salty broth was savory comfort. The duck with the ginger sauce was succulent. But the best flavor happens when you take a bite of both as both flavors complement each other. As the more unique alternative to the chicken or even beef pho, I recommend giving this dish a try.

Yelp
I came here with my family for lunch on Saturday to try duck pho. The restaurant is located in a corner plaza and the parking lot is pretty small. It was busy but we waited about 10 minutes for a table. There were only 2 workers manning everything. Plain pho (5/5): You have a choice between vermicelli, pho, and glass noodles. I chose the pho noodles and they were so good. It was cooked perfectly. I don't know what the difference was from other restaurants but it was probably the best noodle texture I have had. Duck salad (5/5): The duck was so tender and succulent! It was meaty. It paired well with the plain pho. The fish sauce had a nice little kick to it. The cabbage salad underneath was nice and fresh as well. I will definitely be coming back. It was a great experience. The interior was nice and clean as well. They currently have a promotion for June
google avatar

Jason W.

Yelp
Service was quick and friendly, ambiance comparable to most pho places. The value is great considering it's duck but overall I still prefer my #1 pho specials (dac biet). The soup had so much pepper in it that it no longer tasted like pho to me, it just tasted like hot water with pepper. The duck was tasty but there's SO many bone fragments and you cannot just take it out in one piece, it's the gritty broken kind thats in every bite almost. The bed of salad with fish sauce dressing was good. I'll give it another chance one day but didn't wow me.
google avatar

Violet D.

Yelp
Very good food! Great duck and soup noodles. Recommend coming here. Few places that have duck pho in SGV.

Ray L.

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday for lunch. Ambiance: 5/5 The place is very homey and the decor is very cute. Parking is not the best because the parking lot is small, but good thing is that most other business in this plaza were not open on this Saturday. Food: 5/5 This place is well known for their duck salad and they did not disappoint. Their duck is not gamey at all and pairs perfectly with their noodles and cabbage salad. The dressing for the salad strong, but not overpowering. The only thing is that the duck was roughly chopped, so some of the bones are harder to pick out. Drinks: 5/5 We got Vietnamese iced coffee, lemon ice tea, and pandan green tea. The iced coffee is strong and rich. The lemon ice tea was light and not too sweet. Lastly, I ordered a hot tea and to my surprise it had an aromatic pandan scent to it. It smelled amazing but did not impact the taste of the tea. Service: 5/5 The service was great. I'm sure the food was pre-prepped in the kitchen, but it all came out nice and hot like 5 minutes after we ordered. The servers were attentive and came to refill our drinks without even asking.

Yelp
Found out this restaurant was new in the area and still in their soft opening stage so wanted to give it a try. First time ever trying duck pho. Didn't even know there was such a thing. After trying it, I still prefer chicken pho though if I really have to compare. Location of the restaurant is situated in a small plaza. Parking can be difficult. We went past 1:00 pm which wasn't during lunch hour but the restaurant was still full. We ordered a regular bowl of duck pho with rice noodles. You can choose what type of noodles you want. There were 3 choices. Also ordered duck curry. Their monthly promotion is for every entree you purchase, you get a free drink. The free drink is lemon iced tea and it's available for the whole month of May. Our food orders came out within 5 min of waiting. The restaurant was busy with parties of people constantly coming in and several others waiting to be seated. There is only 2 people running the restaurant so they were falling behind on taking orders and also preparing to go orders. We waited for like 5-10 min to see if our lemon iced teas would be served. No sign. There was like 2-3 other tables that were seated before us that got their lemon iced teas. Tables after us didn't receive any so we decided to just ask if it was available. Worst answer is no right? After all, there was a sign posted at the entrance of the restaurant about the monthly promotional drink. We did ask and one of the servers responded with a 2-3 second pause "yes" and said we will work on it. Waited for like another 2-3 min and our drinks arrived. Did appreciate the fact that we weren't forgotten however when it came time to pay , we asked for the check and after 10 min of waiting we were still sitting there. It's not until one of the servers walked past our table that we asked again. While we were waiting for the check, we saw one of the servers making iced tea in the kitchen. He was pouring a pitcher of ice and tea into a cup and he used his FINGERS to stop the ice cube from falling into the cup really fast. HIS FINGERS! That is unsanitary. Even using spoon to block it would have been nice. Anyways, by this time our check still hasn't arrived so we politely asked for the check and it came promptly. There is an option to scan the QR code on the check and pay through the phone on the clover website. I just ended up doing that because I didn't want to wait for the server to come pick up the check and wait for my credit card to be returned to me. Food is delicious but they really should take into consideration to hire another employee to help out in the front. With the size of the restaurant, three people should be enough. The waiting time was a bit annoying, I wouldn't say frustrating given the fact that both were trying to do as much as they can taking orders, wiping tables, making drinks, serving food all at the same time. But it did feel like we had to get their attention a couple times. As you can expect, there was as no follow up after we got our orders. No questions being asked like how is everything? Do you need anything ? Because they just didn't have the time at all. Please hire more staff to improve the customer service.

Yelp
o4.28.24 Super late lunch at 3 pm... it was quite empty, as expected. I've heard of this place a few months ago and have been wanting to try it. We got the bamboo pho with duck and duck curry with banh mi. Both are pretty good. We didn't finish and took the rest to go, mainly the curry. It was too good not to take out. It was good with rice, too.

Yelp
If you love duck or are curious to try it in Vietnamese cuisine, Pho Vit 115 is a must. I came here for the duck pho, and it did not disappoint. The broth is rich and flavorful, and the duck is tender with no gamey taste. I also tried the bun mang vit (duck with bamboo shoots) and the duck salad (goi vit)--both were fresh, well-balanced, and super satisfying. The portions are generous, and everything tastes homemade in the best way. The space is clean with a casual vibe. They have QR code menus and some outdoor seating that's pet-friendly, which is a plus. Service was quick and friendly. Prices are fair, and they offer lunch specials too--great value for the quality. Definitely one of the better spots in the SGV for duck pho. I'll be back!

Karen K.

Yelp
First time here. Strip mall or street parking. Takes credit card. Got the Pho with Bamboo shoot. The duck came in a bed of salad veggies. The portions are huge and the soup noodles is yummy. I like the taste of the duck but it's rather in the lean side with a lot of bones. Overall a not bad experience
google avatar

Bin X.

Yelp
Really delicious, clean tasting duck broth and noodles. The salad was refreshing and pairs well with the cabbage and fish sauce based dressing. For around $25 this half duck salad and noodle soup combo is enough for 2 ppl, we added $1 for a larger portion of the noodles and soup.
google avatar

Darlena T.

Yelp
Love their lunch special! Bogo on their duck pho with salad. They also have a special for chicken all day 10am-7pm for just $20 half chicken salad with any noodle soup. Food comes out super hot and tasty.

Yelp
I ordered the yellow curry chicken with vermicelli to go. The host/waiter did not know the menu by item number. He did offer me water but I noticed a sign that offered any drink free with Yelp check in/review. I checked in but the employee refused to honor the offer without a full and proper review. Obviously this was not possible before I had even tried the food. It came out bagged in 2 separate containers which I took home. Container 1 was a full cylinder of curry, chicken, carrots, and potatoes. Container 2 was a Styrofoam box with cold vermicelli, bean sprouts, radish, ground spices, green onion, and lemon wedge. I combined it all in a big bowl, but with so many cold items the end result is pretty lukewarm. Guess it's on me to reheat it if I want it that way. The chicken was dark thigh meat with a good amount of little bone fragments. The carrots were soft and some pieces were sweet and slightly fermented in flavor. Potatoes were unremarkable. The curry itself was good, but a lot more citrus flavor from the lemon and spices then the Thai variant I'm more accustomed to. Over all I'd say it was still good, but after a negative interaction with staff I'd have to seriously consider returning when there are competitive alternatives nearby.
google avatar

Linda H.

Yelp
I only came back here because I was looking for the original Vietnamese menu, but I believe the place has changed ownership. They now focus on duck pho, which I wasn't initially excited about since I'm not a fan of boiled duck but to my surprise, it was actually good and super refreshing. We also ordered the curry duck with bread, and while the curry itself was flavorful and impressive, the bread was disappointing. Everything tasted great at the moment, but after I left... I kept burping up curry, and it was not a pleasant experience. The staff was nice and the place was kind of clean spoon and bowls were not that clean but .. I always wipe my stuff before consuming..

Yelp
If you're a fan of duck, come try some duck pho. I really loved the way they make the duck here. You can decide to order a whole or half of a duck. It comes with a bowl of pho. The duck comes with a very savory and delish dipping sauce. One bite and it felt like the flavors are bursting in your mouth. Truly scrumptious! Service is mediocre, kinda like any other Asian place. Parking is limited since it's in a small plaza.

Yelp
Wow what a great tasting uniquely prepared method of serving pho and other duck dishes. Duck salad was perfect balance of taste. Duck meat was great texture and flavor and the duck broth was comforting. Price is reasonable and portions are good. Will keep coming back

Yelp
Tonight was spontaneous-- my father decided to take us here since he was unable to find the restaurant last time The inside of the restaurant looks nice and new. The servers are so genuine, and humble. They provided good quality of services, and I appreciated the accommodation. My father and I shared the duck promotion which includes the duck salad with a side of pho or porridge. We got one of each for the sides since my father was craving porridge and I was open to getting a warm pho of soup, with their orange sauce for for like Hainan. Additionally, my partner got the rice with pork belly and it came with a unique dipping sauce. I believe it was a peanut satay sauce. Everyone enjoyed it. I think its a lovely place; we will be back soon!

Yelp
Would recommend checking out this place! The duck salad is really good - tender and delicious with the sweet sauce. The pho and soup is amazing and noodles are perfect consistency. Curry was good as well - a little more soupy than Japanese or Chinese curry but good flavor!

Yelp
Come if you like duck! I love duck and really enjoyed the lighter tasting duck here with the soft noodles and savory broth. Others in our party who do not love duck didn't really have many other choices. They had the poke belly rice and seemed to enjoy it. I also ordered the congee for my daughters and it was ok, didn't love it. But I's definitely recommend for duck lovers!

Yelp
Was really impressed with this family run shop. The food is pretty simple and straight forward, very clean and done really well. Just know this isn't your standard, familiar pho restaurant. It's a duck restaurant. It's really a duck broth restaurant that also serves the boiled duck meat and traditional Asian carbs/starch accompaniments with some additional dishes. If I haven't made it clear yet, the broth is the star of the show. It is pure, it's balanced, it's clean, it's so simple it might take you a bit to really appreciate it. But most won't just come for the broth so you can choose pho noodles (really good quality with nice chew), vermicelli, glass noodles, egg noodles, congee or rice to go with the broth as well as the boiled duck meat over a slaw salad with ginger sauce. You can also get a variation of any of the aforementioned with a duck and bamboo/menma broth that's a little earthier. For non duck eaters there's chicken curry as well as a spiced pork belly with sticky rice or banh mi. The restaurant itself is very clean, bright and staff was friendly and patient. If you aren't familiar with these type of Vietnamese/Chinese dishes it might be a bit of a leap of faith, but I highly recommend them and hope they stick around for a while even if it means it'll have to wait for a table.

Yelp
Let me start this review off by saying that I have been thinking about this duck pho since I have left CA. I live in Nevada and do not have this type of duck pho anywhere near me so when I was in town, my family said that I had to try it. My aunt has been requesting this once a week so I knew I had to try. There was a bit of a wait so our group of 8 waited outside for about 15 minutes. When we walked in they were very accommodating (we had a baby with us and they offered us a high chair). We ordered a whole duck split onto two plates for the table and we all got the plain rice noodle soup. They have other noodle options like vermicelli, glass noodle, and porridge but we all got the plain rice noodle(pho noodles) and it was simply amazing. The duck was cooked perfectly paired with a ginger sauce sitting on top of a refreshing salad. Everything about this meal was perfect. The noodles were nice and chewy, the broth was flavorful and piping hot, just the way I like my noodle soups! I am sitting here writing this while salivating in Nevada planning my next trip to LA just so I could eat this again. Simply amazing.

Yelp
I love the duck pho here! Super umami and you can get jook if pho is not your thing! They also have chicken salad.
