"Pho 1 Brighton (1799 Commonwealth Ave., Brighton) serves its bo kho with tons of thick rice noodles. The beef is perfectly tender and the broth is incredibly aromatic with an earthy flavor from the lemongrass and tomato paste. It also serves three other great Vietnamese soups — mi hai san (a seafood egg noodle soup), bun bo Hue (a beef and rice noodle soup from the central city Huế), and hu tieu (a shrimp and pork soup with a clear broth). Pho 1 Brighton is currently offering takeout, delivery, and indoor dining." - Karen Wilber

"A restaurant called Pho #1 recently replaced Chilli Thai Bistro at 1799 Commonwealth Ave. in Brighton, right by the Chiswick stop on the Green Line, serving Vietnamese food and more. The Brighton location is the third for Pho #1, which also has locations in Waltham and Woburn, as an employee at the Waltham location confirmed to Eater. Chilli Thai Bistro had been operating in the Commonwealth Avenue space since early 2015. Pho #1’s menu features Vietnamese dishes as well as dishes from several other Asian cuisines; there’s satay, dumplings, banh mi, takoyaki, and more. Pho #1 also serves Vietnamese soups like bo vien (a noodle soup with beef meatballs) and, obviously, pho." - Terrence Doyle

Very poor service. If you are not ready to provide service, you better take a day off. Pho was not really Traditional Vietnamese food. Taste more like cheap Chinese food taste. To get into the store, you need to go around the building to find to get to the restaurant due to snow. If owner or worker cared about customer, they should clean some snow in front of the store. When I mentioned to the server working today( boy one server) she seems don’t care about that. We ordered three pho with no cilantro, and later ordered one fried-rice due to poor portion of the soup. She brought fried rice with cilantro on the top and. We were the only one table. Once I complained, she took it back and kept in the kitchen and kitchen staff digged out cilantro pieces and just brought back same food instead cook it again. Taste was the worst part. Not very honest restaurant. If you want a good Vietnamese restaurant, DO NOT GO THIS PLACE!!!!!! You don’t want to have bad dining experience.

The absolute best Tom Yum soup. Order the one with noodles and you will not be disappointed. Every time there are 5 enormous shrimp that take 2-3 bites to finish one and these bad boys are the reason this is the best soup in the neighborhood. Huge portion and the broth is to die for. I salivate just writing about it. If you order it to go it’s even better. All the ingredients are so fresh and packed separate so you can add more or less to taste. Last week I had it three days in a row and I never eat anything three times in a row without getting bored. The prices are very reasonable and other dishes are just as good.

My first time here and I was amazed with their menu. They have a great selection of Thai 🇹🇭 and Vietnamese 🇻🇳 dishes. I would said they have great menu for everyone. I definitely have to come back to try more. Oh, I got Kway Jab and Vietnamese crepe today and they were great. #thaifood #vietnamesefood #foodie #delicious

Lady was very rude from over the phone to pick up in person. I verified what I wanted and needed with my items and nothing was provided. I always wanted to try this place but it fell flat for me and you! Food…def have tasted better, especially for the price.

Even though the place looks a little run down and the bathroom is super far underground and the walls look like the set of a John wick movie - the food here is incredible. Down right the best pho I have had anywhere in Boston. The staff is Thai but their pho is amazing. The service is great, the people are nice, the food is amazing. Don't tell everyone, keep it to your self. If this place blows up I'll be pissed.

This is the best Pho I have had in Boston 🍜. Broth was clean and flavourful and the meat in the dac biet was incredible 🌱🥩. I also had a Thai ice tea with my meal, which was tasty and authentic. (I ordered two) 🫖☕️❤️.

My girlfriend and I ate there the other night. We both ordered the wonton soup (which tasted really good, we both noted the broth was unusually savory). About 30 minutes into our dinner my arms started to feel numb/heavy and my chest felt tight - almost as if I was getting muscle cramps. I didn’t think much at first, but it kept getting worse. I mentioned to my girlfriend I was not feeling well. To my surprise she said the same thing, and commented her arms were feeling really heavy and she almost had a slight stinging/burning sensation. Doing some research, turns out a massive amount of MSG can cause these exact symptoms in some people (source: Cleveland Clinic + PubMed). The only dish we both had in common was the soup. We’re both no strangers to takeout food and MSG - I even cook with it myself, so it was surprising this has such an effect on us. There must have been a truly massive amount in the broth (explains why it was so unusually savory haha). In summary - there is likely a ton of MSG in the food (even by normal takeout food standards). If you have any sort of sensitivity towards MSG, maybe avoid the wonton soup. I can’t speak to how much is in the other food as I only had the soup that night.

Ordered through uber eats. Took the restaurant an hour to prepare my meal (a sandwich and appetizer) and still wouldn't be ready for delivery for another hour when it should have been 50 minutes at most. Due to cancelation fee going to restaurant (per Uber policy) I'm out more money than one of the items would have cost and I still have no dinner. Slow service doesn't begin to describe the disappointment.

Yelp
Pho was solid for an evening dinner. Friends got other dishes and I took some photos! Overall it was a good experience and they seated us very fast for a large group

Yelp
We went there for many times but the stuff are NOT friendly at all recently. Not offering water (but brought waters to other tables), didn't take the appetizer plate, didn't ask if we need anything and obviously the waiter was much friendly to two other white girls who sat next to us. This is not the FIRST time. Very rude. Won't come back anymore.

Yelp
Was previously Pho 1 in Brighton, but changed the name so as not to be confused with other local restaurants that have the Pho 1 name. Serves excellent Thai and Vietnamese food. We have eaten inside here multiple times. Fresh ingredients, not greasy, great flavor, and everything we have eaten there has been terrific. The staff is friendly. The ambience is warm, and the restaurant is simple and clean. They serve beer a wine, and they do takeout. The prices are very reasonable.
