Five Vietnamese Dishes to Know and Where to Eat Them in Boston - Eater Boston

"Pho 1 Brighton (1799 Commonwealth Ave., Brighton) serves its bo kho with tons of thick rice noodles. The beef is perfectly tender and the broth is incredibly aromatic with an earthy flavor from the lemongrass and tomato paste. It also serves three other great Vietnamese soups — mi hai san (a seafood egg noodle soup), bun bo Hue (a beef and rice noodle soup from the central city Huế), and hu tieu (a shrimp and pork soup with a clear broth). Pho 1 Brighton is currently offering takeout, delivery, and indoor dining." - Karen Wilber

Pho #1 Vietnamese and Asian Fusion Restaurant Opens in Brighton - Eater Boston

"A restaurant called Pho #1 recently replaced Chilli Thai Bistro at 1799 Commonwealth Ave. in Brighton, right by the Chiswick stop on the Green Line, serving Vietnamese food and more. The Brighton location is the third for Pho #1, which also has locations in Waltham and Woburn, as an employee at the Waltham location confirmed to Eater. Chilli Thai Bistro had been operating in the Commonwealth Avenue space since early 2015. Pho #1’s menu features Vietnamese dishes as well as dishes from several other Asian cuisines; there’s satay, dumplings, banh mi, takoyaki, and more. Pho #1 also serves Vietnamese soups like bo vien (a noodle soup with beef meatballs) and, obviously, pho." - Terrence Doyle

The vibes were nice and the servers/staff were very friendly. Unfortunately the food left a lot to be desired - I tried many different dishes and all of them were disappointing. The spring rolls were dry and had too much lettuce, the panh xeo crust was too thick and doughy, and the pho was lacking in flavor. The best dish we had was a Thai dish - the pad see ew… The menu just has way too many items, including a lot of Chinese and Korean cuisines. I would recommend downsizing it significantly to focus on a few quality dishes and to make it less overwhelming.

Very poor service. If you are not ready to provide service, you better take a day off. Pho was not really Traditional Vietnamese food. Taste more like cheap Chinese food taste. To get into the store, you need to go around the building to find to get to the restaurant due to snow. If owner or worker cared about customer, they should clean some snow in front of the store. When I mentioned to the server working today( boy one server) she seems don’t care about that. We ordered three pho with no cilantro, and later ordered one fried-rice due to poor portion of the soup. She brought fried rice with cilantro on the top and. We were the only one table. Once I complained, she took it back and kept in the kitchen and kitchen staff digged out cilantro pieces and just brought back same food instead cook it again. Taste was the worst part. Not very honest restaurant. If you want a good Vietnamese restaurant, DO NOT GO THIS PLACE!!!!!! You don’t want to have bad dining experience.

If you're looking to lose a quick 5 pounds, I highly recommend ordering the #1 with pork spring rolls. The inside was raw, and I’ve been on a surprise detox ever since...down 3 pounds and counting! But the pho was delicious and the service was super friendly. Just maybe skip the pork spring rolls if you're not into spontaneous fasting.

I got the Pho Ga to go and the quality of the food was horrible. The lime, basil, and sprouts seem to have been pre packaged for days, looking spoiled and with a strong odor.

Great Pad Thai in town!! Thai cuisine’s Pad Thai is a hit or a miss, but when it’s a hit it’s one of the best I’ve had in Boston. I had the shrimp version and my buddy had chicken version. Both versions were great!! 👍🏼

Yelp
Pho was solid for an evening dinner. Friends got other dishes and I took some photos! Overall it was a good experience and they seated us very fast for a large group

Yelp
We went there for many times but the stuff are NOT friendly at all recently. Not offering water (but brought waters to other tables), didn't take the appetizer plate, didn't ask if we need anything and obviously the waiter was much friendly to two other white girls who sat next to us. This is not the FIRST time. Very rude. Won't come back anymore.

Yelp
Was previously Pho 1 in Brighton, but changed the name so as not to be confused with other local restaurants that have the Pho 1 name. Serves excellent Thai and Vietnamese food. We have eaten inside here multiple times. Fresh ingredients, not greasy, great flavor, and everything we have eaten there has been terrific. The staff is friendly. The ambience is warm, and the restaurant is simple and clean. They serve beer a wine, and they do takeout. The prices are very reasonable.
