Take me home - country road… to a place we all belong! The Phoenician Lodge feels just like home. It is welcoming, inviting and peaceful! It is exactly as advertised and then some. From check-in to check-out you feel Sandra and Emily’s love for this place and their pride and joy in hospitality. We stayed in Suite 12 which was an unexpected surprise. First, it was spotless (I mean spotless) and there’s a retro style and feel, that takes you back in time (which we loved). The amenities (oh the Beekman 1802 toiletries😌); the little-completely fenced in yard for the pups to enjoy and the silence (oh the silence!). The only thing one could hear at night were crickets. A splendid stay! (Very close to Main Street, Woodstock, Pine Hill, Kingston, etc). Already making plans for a return in the Fall 🤗

I stayed at Phoenicia Lodge this past weekend for a friend's wedding that was in Big Indian. I was happy to find this hidden gem, as their rates are very reasonable compared to other hotels/lodges in the area. Sandra was so accommodating and responsive with any questions I had. She even coordinated an early check in for us since we had to get ready for the wedding which was much appreciated! The cottage was very clean and quaint - perfect for a weekend stay in the Catskills!

Google
It’s a wonderful small cozy place, with OK bedrooms and a fabulous common lounge for relaxing. We had a mini reunion of 10 “older” relatives and had a ball. We rode the train/bicycle excursion and the Lodge was a perfect place for us to stay. Very cordial and helpful staff and nice amenities. The cabins are a bit small but that didn’t hamper us.

We absolutely loved our 10 night stay at the Phoenicia Lodge. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The new owners/managers were lovely - Sandra and Emily checked in with us to make sure that all of our needs were being met. This was our 4th stay at the Phoenicia Lodge. The property is beautiful and the location is perfect. We are looking forward to returning soon.

Google
We had been to the lodge prior to the new ownership and management taking over, and we had an excellent experience this time! Our cabin was very clean, the innkeepers are friendly and super accommodating (we hit horrendous traffic on our way into town and they were easy to reach for late check-in) and the cabin has all the amenities you could possibly need. Beautiful grounds too and great coffee and selection of breakfast items for the mornings! Our dog, Phantom, was very comfortable and welcomed as well.

Google
We had a great experience. The cabin was neat and well equipped Emily at the main lodge was cheerful and helpful + had my daily English muffin and coffee. Located near multiple peaks for hiking The local cuisine was nothing special though filling after a long hike I will book it again for my next hiking adventure

Beautiful, peaceful, and clean! Loved every minute of our stay at Phoenicia Lodge! Fire pit, hammocks, comfy bed. Will come again soon. Friendly and helpful staff, stunning flowers in bloom, near great places to hike and have delicious meals at nearby restaurants.

Yelp
After staying at another motel in Fleischmann for the last twenty years... I tried the Phoenicia lodge. Definitely a step up. Clean and friendly. Their Continental breakfast is above reproach. Every day they make a fresh new breakfast pastry today's is chocolate chip, pumpkin and it was delicious highly recommended especially if you have a pet.

Yelp
Have stayed here a few times over the many years visiting the Phoenicia area. It is a great facility, true to its roots as a simple and classic Catskill getaway- rooms/cabins/suites. This is the first time we've stayed under the new ownership with Jennifer & Maureen as hosts. They've done a great job at updating the lodge while maintaining its classic vibe. Noteworthy is the efforts they've taken refreshing and coordinating the exterior paint colors and garden furniture. A discerning eye will note the efforts to maintain a thematic exterior color coordination across all the units. The grounds are well maintained with a vast array of natural plantings, specimen trees, indiginous plants, which if you are a garden buff, you'll really appreciate the variety, quality and passion that went into these wonderful presentations. The rooms are simple, clean, with a vintage vibe authentic to a Catskills cottage experience. There is a large communal yard with a fire pit, volleyball net, hammocks and seating as well as several new Weber grills and picnic tables. Easy to congregate or just hangout by your cottage or on your porch. The Esopus Creek is a short walk across the property on the other side of the street. Best is the continental breakfast!!!! Fresh baked goodies, fruits, yogurts, coffees, bagels and various snacks. Grab a morning tray and sit out back as the morning greets you, you are transported to a natural relaxing environment. This stay was a great experience, they've really upped the game here while maintaining an authentic feeling of being in your own mountain cottage. A vibe that is so often lost, when classic resorts move to a "hip" or "trendy" update. Thanks to our wonderful and welcoming hosts, our stay was really a delight and we feel we've made new friends. Thank you!

Yelp
We stayed at the Phoenicia Lodge in mid-September. We chose Suite 12, the most expensive of the lodge's offerings. We felt as if we were staying in someone's run down home. Peeling paint throughout the suite, floor/wall trim coming off in several places. The bath tub and shower were so filthy I seldom bothered to shower. There's just a general unkempt feeling about the place. You get the feeling no maintenance is ever being done on the suite. It was so bad, I didn't want to take off my shoes! It was never like this with the previous owners. How and why the Phoenicia Lodge gets such great reviews completely baffles me!

Yelp
I took a quick trip to the Catskills and was excited to explore the area, especially after spotting this lodge with silver bikes. The next day my BF and I went to the store and though we arrived at 10:30am, theybwere closed. Their sign says open 8-11am and 4-9/10 (depending on weekend day). We took a chance the next day and walked back down to this lodge and this time it was at 4:45pm. No luck getting the bikes. We called and no one picked up. Now we are back home, tried calling again and they picked up. They also told us no one was in the office(but yet she answered) until 8-9th of april. Definitely obscure messaging and disappointing. I really wanted to ride through town.

Yelp
Great little place! We stayed 3 nights and hiked the Catskill Fire-towers. Centrally located to all 5 hikes this place was a perfect place for us. It had a stove, small fridge, and freezer as well. We were able to cook some meals and experience local dining as well. It is a hop, skip, and a jump from town. If you plan on a stay in the Catskills consider a stay with the Phoenicia Lodge.

Christine C.

Yelp
Such a great quaint lodge. It's run by a family who seem to live on site. If you're looking for a cozy quiet getaway this place is as homey as it gets. So affordable and sweet. They offer water, fresh baked cookies (delicious too), yogurt, starbucks coffee, biscottis, cereal, bagels, muffins, etc. for breakfast in the main office. Free bike rentals, free wifi, great open campfire area, BBQ grills that are free to use. 5 minute drive or 10 minute bike ride to the nearest downtown area (where you can find cute restaurants, convenience stores, liquor, delis, etc.) Incase you forget any condiments or cooking ingredients/utensils - management was quick to offer anything you might need. When I went with my boyfriend for a snowboarding trip to Hunter mountain which is only about a 15 minute drive away. We got rained in one night - bummer, but not! We took walks to the office and rented out free movies with the great selection they had, grabbed some snacks and we were set for the night. As mentioned earlier - we were here for a snowboarding trip in the winter but I would love to visit in the summer for a short and sweet relaxing getaway.

Yelp
I and my Fiancé desperately had to book a super last minute lodging because of the massive January 2021 Nor'easter impacting our 3 hour drive home. We were basically stuck in the Catskills with massive snowstorm and Phoenicia Lodge saved us!!!!! The owners Jennifer and Maureen accommodated us with such wonderful hospitality! They are one of the best and kindest business owners we've encountered! We booked a room for one overnight stay and was very pleased with our stay! Rustic but very cozy and organized/claen, had everything essential working great. Room was warm, fast and reliable wifi, cable TV available and complimentary grab and go breakfast! They even mailed my jacket back that I left in the room after check out. Highly highly recommended to everyone visiting the Catskills! They have different types of accommodations which look really nice also! We will definitely be back!!!!!

David B.

Yelp
It's conveniently close by a lot of popular attractions like hiking/swimming trails (Peekamoose) and the Railway Explorers. The staff was very welcoming and provide a great pamphlet for more ideas and activities around the area. All inclusive breakfast was delicious and their baking was spot-on. Air conditioning and overall cleanliness of the lodge rooms was appreciated. Beware of natural bugs because of the forest location. Wi-fi included; plan your GPS ahead of time because there is no signal high up in the mountains. 10/10 recommend this spot to anyone planning a vacation in the Catskills region!

Yelp
Happy New Years! So I am so excited to share about this place!!! So we booked it for the New Years weekend. We came on 31st, booked 2 rooms for 3 days, but unfortunately had to move out on January 1st, early morning! The owner came in and said we had to leave! Because we were celebrating New Years in our room! The room was on the second floor and that lady leaves on the first one... Well, no one told us that we are not allowed to play music or talk in our room. Also pictures on the website are not that you will get in real life... Rooms are old, the smell is horrible. Highly not recommended to stay there... Don't understand how this place has so many stars...

Yelp
If you have the chance to stay here, do it. I love this place. The innkeepers are very nice and helpful and the property is well maintained up and down. The motel rooms are as a good an economical room as one could ask for but the cottages are the true gem. Very reasonably priced for a cute little 1BR cabin that has everything you need to hole up for a few days away from it all. Cozy and clean. Spend the days playing cards and tearing through the lodge's impressive DVD library. I love to come during the winter and ski nearby, but it would be a great summer destination as well with great hiking and fishing around. Updated: Sigh. As Phonecia becomes trendy, so too do these places lose what made them so nice. This is still a great place to stay but the swell of people visiting the Catskills have "forced" them to enforce a 2 night minimum during peak season. The added expense will alienate people who just wanted to spend 2 days and a night in the area.

Yelp
Stayed here with a friend for two nights while on a little 2-day hiking and catching up with a old college pal trip! The place is extremely secluded BUT it was surely nice. Please keep in mind that this review is from the perspective of a true NYC girl. We stayed in room #11 for $70 a night. A crazy bargain, right? We thought so. Especially because we split it. Well I'll tell you why I didn't really like it. it smelled VERY bad in there. SO my friend had to bring in some air freshener from his car. The room just seemed sort of dirty and perhaps TOO rustic, if there is such a thing. I did appreciate the fruit in the morning but the Chobani yogurt got my friend sick and actually made him puke before we began our way up the Giant Ledge hiking trail. Fortunately for me- when I started eating it, it began to make me feel nauseous so I stopped. My friend didn't. I would've liked our room to have a mini-fridge because honestly it's not like they sell food and there is NOTHING really close to this place AND some people get hungry at 11PM. I do give them props for having a nice flat screen TV AND wifi.

Yelp
Phoenicia Lodge is as good as it gets in the Catskills. They have different options for your stay- rooms or cottages. My fiancee and i chose to stay in one of the rooms. It was so clean- We had all your basic amenities. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The owners were very attentive too. My fiancee left his phone at a local restaurant - the owners were nice enough to leave us a note telling us to go pick it up! I cant wait to come back with my family - well rent a nice cottage or a few cottages next time. The website is extremely helpful- all of their recommendations were spot on! There are free bike rentals too! how sweet- Only a 1/2 mile from main street - We will come back year after year- its a new tradition for us!

Katrina d.

Yelp
I stayed again this year and it's still top notch. My old review is still on the money.

Brandon L.

Yelp
It was my first time it was beautiful the room was clean, it has a kitchen, it has cell service which is very hard to find in the Catskills, it is a truly hidden gem I would highly recommend staying here.

Nina R.

Yelp
We have stayed at the Phoenicia Lodge at least once a year for the past 10 years. Our raves are long overdue!!!! To say we LOVE it there is an understatement. It is a cozy, down-to-earth place to stay in paradise. Brian and Sara, the owners, are wonderful people - so helpful and knowledgable. We usually stay in #8, a cozy room that has all the basics. In the morning we get coffee (good and strong!) yogurt and muffins in the welcome building. Note: if you are a super high maintenance "I need 8000 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets" type person who cannot live without 24/7 concierge service you should look elsewhere. If you're a chill lover of the outdoors who wants to feel at home in the Catskills, you will love Phoenicia Lodge!!

Stacey N.

Yelp
Picked this place based on previous reviews and location and it did not disappoint stayed in cottage #6 and loved the vintage vibe with all the conveniences of home. Owners were welcoming and thoughtful breakfast was perfect fresh coffee bagels yogurt and amazing homemade banana muffins. Got a call from Maureen stating I had left a sweater behind and she was mailing it back to me ! Could not have asked for a better experience these ladies work hard running this Lodge and it shows

Yelp
We just got back from a long weekend in the Catskills and man was this the perfect little place to stay!! Located just a hop, skip and a jump outside of the sleepy mountain town of Phoenicia, they had everything we needed for coming back at the end of a long day. They offer mini cabins for rental, or standard rooms- which is what we stayed in. The rooms were extremely clean, and came with AC as well as a flat screen TV, and a DVD library (with brand new movies!) located in the main office. The folks who own the place were happy to explain where the best/most accessible hiking was...and had nice maps of the area as well. I also enjoyed the homemade cookies they had available each night ! I highly recommend staying here- at $90 a night (for the standard room), you can't go wrong. Other places more directly in Phoenicia, seemed to run $120-$150 a night, but we were so close to the town anyway, it didn't seem worth the extra money. I can't wait to come back to the Catskills and stay here again!

Yelp
For my bf's sister's birthday we took the entire family to ski, and I came across this lodge from the yelpers reviews. We reserved online the suite #12 for 5 persons during the polar vortex cold spell when daytime temp was in the 20s. The mudroom at the entrance was convenient, but the new-ish looking wood floor made it very cold to walk around without socks nor slippers. Also, since there was no carpet on the floor, the snow & ice melted from the boots in the mudroom and made the floor & socks wet as we unload luggage. Bathroom can use more counter space and some draino to unclogged the sink. Shower was nice and hot. No toothbrush nor toothpaste provided. No hanger or spaces to put your clothes or hang your used towels. Wish there had been more shelves and wall hangers. The kitchen was basic but does not allow multiple cooks at the same time due to the stove being crowded between dish washer and refrigerator. Water boil very slowly on this stove. There are limited cookware & glasses so we had to keep washing them each time we use them. It became ridiculous when 5 people tried sharing out of 4 glasses / cups. The master bedroom became too warm at night when heat is cranked up. The futon at living room was comfortable to sleep on, but the daybed by the mudroom entrance was a bit cold at night. This suite has a lot of non-functional space which just exist and useless, such as the spacious walk-in closet by the dinning table. The suite can use some upgrade and more sleeper sofas to accommodate more people, but over all it was cute, clean, and simple. I particularly liked the abundance of electrical outlet on the wall which was very convenient. Wifi works well. Dinning table has no light over it and was dark but it served its purpose. Not sure if I'd come back, but if I do I will bring disposable plates & cups, and an air bed so no one had to sleep in the cold day bed.

Yelp
Phoenicia is a gorgeous, sleepy little mountain town in upstate NY. I am a native of NYC, and I go up there quite often for weekend getaways. You can't beat the scenery, and the fact that there are no cell towers so if you really want to disconnect from the world, it's the perfect place! I have stayed in a few different hotels and even the resort, but the Phoenicia Lodge is definitely my favorite spot - HANDS DOWN. The cottages are great. Clean, cute, comfy and spacious. The kitchens are fully stocked, the bathrooms are clean and the beds are cozy. They are pet friendly, so I often bring my dog up. The grounds are well kept, and the firepit and hammocks are a great touch. The owners, Sara & Brian, are beyond awesome and accommodating! I've been there so many times, that I think I have stayed in every cottage at least once. :) The Esopus River is a short walk away, and my dog loves that river more than life itself. It's also a great area to go for a run. The air is fresh, the streets are nicely paved and well maintained. In short, if you're looking for a quick weekend getaway from the rat race of NYC, this is your place.

Yelp
I loved this place. I stayed here twice this summer to get out of the city for a few days. Very Clean. Rustic authentic charm. NO prefab mass produced faux country here.. knotty pine rooms, but they do have have free Wi-fi in the rooms, and air conditioning (it was hot +90's when we were here) comfortable small rooms. And the best part is how close to the Esopus Creek. Near a beautiful deep swimming hole. Very relaxing. Nice friendly people that swim at the creek. The owners are a young urban couple, with children. They are creating something real here and inexpensive. Before arriving I too was concerned about it being on RT 28, don't worry you have no sense of it being near a road it set back. There is no traffic on 28 during the night. Hardly any during the day. . Surrounded by the mountains and pine trees! The whole area slows you down. The town of Phoenicia and this part of the mountains do not have cell phone service. It's refreshing to not see or hear people on cell anywhere in this area of the Catskills!

Carissa S.

Yelp
This place is great! Clean rooms, super charming location, and friendly staff! We stayed in the motel, but the cabins looked really cute, too. I think next time we'll book one!! The motel rooms had a 50s charm that had been updated tastefully and were very clean and simply but well appointed. This is a nice spot for a relaxing getaway, perfect for a couple or family. There is a nice outdoor area behind the cabins with a fire pit and hammock, or if town is more your speed it is almost walking distance to the town of Phoenicia where you will find restaurants, ice cream, etc.

Bernadette R.

Yelp
What is there not to say about this place?! First off, Sara and Brian are amazing hosts/keepers. They're lodge couldn't be more perfect! The cabin/cottage was super clean. The location was great. The phone service was terrible in the whole area but that made it all better too. Almost a complete disconnect from the city world to relax. One of our favorite things all weekend, was being able to listen to the sounds of the Esopus river when we had the windows open. We were so relaxed all weekend, it just couldn't have been any better. We had reservations at a restaurant in town Saturday night but cancelled because we were enjoying the cottage so much, we decided to stay in and cook our butts off. It was quaint, romantic, charming and absolutely adorable in the cottage. We walked to the river, climbed over a few rocks/boulders and sat in the middle of the river and just basked in all of nature's goodness. The best part about it, we were able to bring our dogs who loved every part of it too. Their favorite part was sitting in front of the fireplace in their beds sleeping until their food was ready to be served. We cannot wait to go back and stay a second time!! THANK YOU Sara and Brian. You've given us a little extra inspiration in our lives!!

Yelp
We needed a last-minute weekend getaway and booked a motel room at Phoenicia Lodge. The owners are super friendly and helpful. We were arriving late, so they arranged for us to get our key after hours. There's free breakfast in the office in the mornings, and free wifi. No cell service except for AT&T, but there's a landline phone and free long-distance calls from your room. The motel rooms are small, so next time we'll probably get a cabin. It looked like a dollhouse with my boyfriend in it. Plus there's poor sound barriers between you and the other motel rooms. There are hammocks and a fire pit on the grounds too, and it's a short walk to Esopus Creek. The shower was tiny but really nice -- hot and great shower pressure. No toiletries other than soap, so remember to bring your shampoo/conditioner. The rooms are kept clean and the lodge is well-maintained. Only thing was that our TV remote doesn't work on the DVD player, but that's about it. Looking forward to returning soon!

Vishal S.

Yelp
Me and a few friends stayed here during a weekend ski trip. We stayed in cabin #5. The cabin was clean, full of utensils, dishes, pots, pans, etc. Full-sized fridge, gas stove, and oven. There were 2 comfortable beds and a full futon. The lodge itself was perfect for us - a clean private apartment-like lodge with everything you needed. The owners were incredibly friendly and were more than accommodating. Be sure to ask about discount lift tickets, certainly cheaper than getting them at the mountain. Will certainly be back in the future!

Bailey F.

Yelp
Stayed here for a wedding, great spot. The owners were amazing, and breakfast was my favorite. We stayed in a cottage, it was clean and had every amenity we could ask for, including a tv, and fully functioning kitchen. Looking forward to a return visit soon!

Bronwyn B.

Yelp
Had an excellent stay here last weekend. We stayed in Suite 12 with our dog and it was clean and comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen. Nice innkeepers and delicious coffee in the morning in the office. We will definitely be back. Thanks Brian and Sara!!

Jen H.

Yelp
Really cute place. Perfect size for family with two young kids. Great outside space for grilling and hanging out. Perfectly cozy and cabin-like, with modern amenities (coffee maker, tv with DVD player). Stocked with basic cookware. Pillows way comfier than I was anticipating. Great DVD lending library, awesome tips from the owner regarding local hikes to do with kids. Will definitely stay here again when we are in the area.

Laura V.

Yelp
LOVE this place. Brian was so accommodating and friendly. We stayed in room 13. It had everything we needed and more. It was very roomie, comfortable and well equipped. Most importantly they welcomed pets but you'd never guess because the room was so clean and well cared for.. One of the only places in the region. Last but not least, it's very afodable. Thanks so much for the excellent stay!

Sebastian O.

Yelp
WE LOVE THIS PLACE!!! It was our second time here and I cannot tell you how much we enjoyed it every time. The owners are sweethearts, the cottages are super cute, the fireplace outside makes it so cozy and I cannot wait to come back.

Dave C.

Yelp
Imagine a 1940's roadside motel/cabins completely renovated by the coolest people that you know. We stayed in one of their motel rooms last night, and every little detail was beautifully attended to. Every place where small independent hotels sometimes cut corners, these folks don't: comfortable bed, nice linens, tastefully matched mid-century furnishings with a 'Catskills lodge' twist. Plus a hot shower with great water pressure, good quality toiletries, fluffy towels, and a nice big TV (with DVD player and a big library of films to borrow). Plan ahead and make a reservation--it was only by sheer luck that we got a spot as a walk-in, but we will be back.

Yelp
Depending on whether you see a glass half full or half empty, you might view Phoenecia Lodge as "rustic" or "seedy". We stayed in Cabin #1 for two nights - we found the cabin to be clean and tidy. The linens were freshly washed and the bed was comfortable. The kitchenette included a four burner propane stove with oven, normal-sized refigerator and kitchen cabinets with pots and pans, utensils and dishes, all of which were clean. However the cabin clearly showed its years of use and a really good paint job would go a long way in improving looks - the windows particularly were badly checked and need to be stripped and repainted. There was no peeling paint to be seen, nor was there any hint of mildew. The outside was freshly painted. The shower was hot and clean as well - my wife is fussy and she found everything to be OK. The bed linens and towels were not changed, although we did not ask to change them. The location on Route 28 might sound busy but this is not the case - it's very quiet and we had restful nights. Overall for the area Phoenecia Lodge is well above some of the cheaper alternatives - we paid $120 per night and glad we did - my friend paid about half that at another place and his lodgings were pretty grim. The owners are quite accommodating and friendly. Best thing I can say is that I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Sally N.

Yelp
Last fall, my bf and I have spent couple days in COTTAGE 2 for our annual foliage hiking trip here in Phoenicia. The reason why we chose this place was mainly because its a pet friendly lodge (we have 2 large breed dogs). Overall, we were very please with this place. The whole place is nicely kept, our room is very clean and meant the descriptions on the website. The owner couple are very friendly and helpful. And the price is very very reasonable. We will definately come back again!!

Yelp
We went on a girl's weekend trip to Belleayre Mountain for skiing. This place is great- about a 10 minute drive to the ski mountain. I booked a cottage here while being very skeptical about whether these reviews were accurate since they were all very positive. Well, believe it. The other hotels/cabins are so much pricier and closer to Belleayre. I'm glad I gave it a chance - the real life pictures helped a bunch!! The pictures on here are exactly how the places looked. We stayed in cottage 1 for about $120/night, which is a stand alone little house with its own drive-way and porch. As you walk in, you see the very cute gas fireplace with a futon, closet, small kitchen, small bedroom. Everything was really great although the bed could be better - it was a little bumpy and hard, but the futon was very comfortable. We were 3 girls staying here and we had plenty of room. We set our food on the small dining table and set up a laptop and popped in DVDs into the player. Side note - there is no housekeeping service, if that is your thing. You have to place your towels out on the porch and they will be replaced by the time you get back. Another great incentive is the continental breakfast they have for the customers every morning in the lobby. You can drop by to get coffee, tea, fruit, yogurt, bagels and granola bars. We definitely enjoyed that both days we stayed. I was also skeptical about the owners and how everyone kept mentioning them by name on the reviews. So I asked the front desk clerk if she was the owner and she definitely was. The couple that owns the place is young and they're very nice - seems like they really put care into owning their cottage business. It was a really cute stay and all three of us raved about the cottages. The area is very, very quiet. Not much to do around there. We're city girls, so we wanted to stay for the weekend to ski and that's about it. I wish there were more to do there, but this review is completely independent of the area. I have to say it was pretty close to "as good as it gets."

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Phoenicia Lodge is a charming getaway spot in the adorable town of Phoenicia. We stayed here for a few days leading up to our wedding in the catskills, and some family and friends also rented other cottages. I cannot recommend it enough. The owners are extremely nice and hospitable, and the cottages are very clean and quaint. Very nice and relaxing yard with a fire pit and hammocks, We enjoyed our time there very much!

Jenn M.

Yelp
Phoenicia Lodge is a great place to stay in upstate NY! My boyfriend and I stayed here for a long weekend to ski at Belleayre. At a very affordable price you get a quaint little home away from home in one of their cottages. The owners were very pleasant and accommodating. They offer a modest breakfast in the office to grab before you head off to the mountain and a selection of DVDs you may borrow when you return to the cottage to relax. The town of Phoenicia is cute. There was not too much to do in the dead of winter but we did find a few nice places to eat. I wouldn't mind returning during warmer weather to explore some hiking spots and perhaps bring our dog next time as they are pet friendly.

Bonnie L.

Yelp
I've always admired this young couple that bought this place and I've stayed with them many times and I've recommended to my family that has stayed with them until a few weeks ago when I stopped in with someone that was looking for a place to stay this coming winter to ski and wanted to show her around and our kids had to pee when we got there and she literally turned our kids away with full bladders -I will never stay there again! Thank god for sue Bernstein at simpler times next door ! Sorry but you are not my idea of Catskills hospitality and I've been coming here a lot longer than you've had you're lodge ! Buh bye!

Yelp
I first stayed at Phoenicia Lodge in 2010 after frantically searching the internet for a dog friendly spot in the Catskills. I was pleasantly surprised by the cottage I rented way back when and have come and gone many times in the years since. I visited this weekend on a whim and was again delighted by my stay. The space is pretty no frills but there's quality in the details where it counts. The landscaping is very will up kept and looks amazing. There's plenty of fire wood to build a fire in the communal out door space and several grills to cook up your day's catch. The beds are comfy, a great place to lay your head after a long grueling hike. The TVs have built in DVD players. (You may ask yourself, 'who on earth has DVDs anymore?' And the answer is Brian and Sara! And their collection of DVDs came in quite handy this rainy Sunday!) Another of my favorite things are the delicious fresh baked goods left out in the morning and evening on some days. I hope to someday open my own lodging in a mountain town and Phoenicia Lodge ran by Jeff and Sara have certainly provided some inspiration. In the mean time, I'll continue to stay here as I complete the rest of the Catskills 3500s. :)

Yelp
We really enjoyed our weekend away here. The owners were welcoming and friendly even upon our late arrival. We stayed in one of the cottages. They are very well kept, clean and cozy. Plenty of clean towels and bedding provided. We didn't use it but there is a television, as well as basic kitchen appliances. It is really quiet, close to Main Street). There is complimentary coffee and breakfast which is a really nice touch. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
I've been meaning to write a review for this place for a while, but am always too blissed out while visiting to bother. The rooms are simple and modestly sized but chic and clean. The owners are lovely and super helpful. They gave us recommendations for dog friendly hikes and swimming holes, which were all amazing. They often have freshly baked cookies for you at checkin, and they have an excellent selection of dvds to borrow. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
We were lucky to find this place. It was exactly what we wanted: a small cozy room at a cheap price. We found it by accident while exploring hiking and fishing sites around Phoenicia -- we didn't arrange a place to stay in advance and just walked in to check the rates. We got a good vibe from one of the owners, who was behind the front desk, and from the look of the lobby, so we decided to book a $70 room in the motel section. Everything was very clean, comfy and worked the way it was supposed to. Nothing was fancy, except maybe for the pretty stained glass in the lobby. The old-style motel feel was a definite plus -- like a little bit of preserved history -- but not self-consciously retro or mannered. We appreciated a few little luxuries: the flat-screen TV/DVD player and a library of movies we wanted to watch. The free Wi-Fi and cell phone access. The free healthy breakfast of coffee, bananas, yogurt and granola bars. All in all, everything seemed well thought-out and well tended. We want to come back. One caveat: the walls in the motel area are thin enough that we could hear snoring in the adjacent room. I woke from a peaceful afternoon nap when our neighbor's door slammed shut. It wasn't a big deal, though, and didn't affect our enjoyment -- but someone else might prefer one of the freestanding cabins.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at the Phoenicia Lodge this past weekend and we are already planning our next trip. The location was perfect for what we had planned - it's close to dowtown Woodstock and Phoenicia and lots of great trails close by for hiking. Don't worry about the lodge being on Route 28 - It's not a bother what so ever. It was perfectly quiet and scenic. The grounds were beautiful with loads of kept flower beds, hammocks to lounge in, picnic tables and a fire pit. We stayed in cabin 4 and it was delightful! It was spotless and comfortable. The furniture was super cute and the bedding was very cozy. THere was a fire burning stove that I can't wait to enjoy on our winter visit. The owners were extremely friendly - they put in a lot of effort and run a great business. Great place! We'll be back!

Yelp
My brother and I stayed at the Phoenicia Lodge for the weekend of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2019. We bought two-day passes at Hunter Mountain only a week prior and are extremely fortunate that Phoenicia Lodge had one more room available. There is a lot to love about this lodge, especially for out-of-staters who are coming to ski in the area because Hunter Mountain is a really short drive away. First and foremost, the family that runs it is friendly and very accommodating. Second, the room that we stayed in was extremely comfortable. It had two quality beds, efficient heating, and the right amount of space and storage for a weekend trip. Further, there was plenty of hot water and good water pressure in the shower, which was a blessing after being on the mountain all day. There are also some good places to eat within a few minutes drive, and I strongly recommend the Phoenicia Diner. You can't beat the location or price, so I will be staying here anytime I ski Hunter Mountain.

Yelp
So adorable and just perfect. Stayed for 2 days for a wedding in one of the motel style rooms. Rooms had a bed, table, chairs, desk, closet, bath. Well thought out details, like hooks, dresser in closet, bedside table, recycling, etc...Plenty of towels, etc...Rustic charm, warm and very clean. The breakfast was perfect of coffee, oatmeal, fruit, etc... The owners were so nice, accommodating and available. It was really perfect.

Yelp
This was perfect for us! My boyfriend and I went for a mid week getaway. Cabin 6 is a one bedroom with kitchen. Very clean and comfy. The decor is this nifty mix of old school rustic and updated cool. Super clean. I slept like a rock and usually I have insomnia! There was a gas "wood" stove, which made our fall getaway so cozy. The owners were helpful and super nice, giving us hints for some bike rides, restaurants, where the IGA is located that sort of thing. We rented bikes, which was lots of fun though we got a little rained out that day. In the evening there's a fire circle, and we chatted with some of the other guests who were all laid back and really nice. The breakfast coffee/yogurt/muffins were great for me, and then we headed off later for The Big Breakfast. I had needed a few days to decompress from my stressful job and the lodge got me back on track! Next time I'd bring some food to grill, because every cabin has a grill and picnic table.

Yelp
I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. But they should maybe change the name from "Motor Village," since that conjures up images of a fleabag. Don't let the name fool you: the rooms are lovely, clean, with wood walls, and a gorgeous smell. The grounds feel like you're in the woods, even though you're right on Route 28. The prices are great. There are free standing cabins, with living room, bedroom and kitchen, facing the beautiful back, with barbecue grills, picnic tables and hammocks. There's coffee and muffins and fruit in the office for breakfast. Best place I've stayed in Phoenicia. Recommended.

Yelp
I never write yelp reviews and as soon as I walked in I knew I would be reviewing this place. Due to the fairly low price on a popular weekend, I wasn't sure what to expect. This exceeded my expectations and more! Not only was everything extremely clean, the kitchen was well stocked with anything you need. Bathroom stocked with plush towels and extra sheets, blanket and pillow for the futon. If you need a place to stay with 3-6 people in the area, definitely check this out!
