This should be regarded as a destination deli. We were on holiday in East London & sought it out. It has every imaginable cooking ingredient, plus amazing fresh produce & freshly baked / cooked take-away treats. Large selection of Greek & Italian cheeses plus Labneh & other dairy goods. There's a huge central fresh olive bar. A back wall of every conceivable spice. A counter selling Jamaican patties, empanadas & Lebanese kibbeh etc. Really wanted to buy some but didn't have enough luggage capacity to carry it all home on the train. They had prepared salads, kebabs & sell hot rotisserie chickens. Huge side wall of pasta & rice varieties plus a middle aisle of pickles, oils & vinegars. A counter of sweet fresh baklava & other treats & then several varieties of Turkish delight & halva. We're very pleased that they offer mail order - we will be using that service now that we're back home.

Sublime, with fantastic selection of Italian food (pasta, beans, biscuits and crackers, tomato tins, to name a few), and incredible assortment of international cuisine generally. It is better stocked than any international food shop I have been to in London so far.

I’ve been shopping at Phoenicia supermarket for years with no issues but the deli is another story. Yesterday I came in for some pastries and was completely ignored by the guy behind the counter. I said hi tried to order but got nothing but a blank stare . It honestly felt like he didn’t want to serve me at all, so I just left and got breakfast somewhere else. This isn’t the first time I’ve had this rude experience many times with the same person. It’s really frustrating and just ruins the start of your day. No one should feel like they’re unwelcome just for trying to buy food. Really hope something changes, because the attitude at the deli is awful.

Tried to get a roasted chicken from here the other week. There was one single chicken left and the guy told me it’d still need 10min to be ready. No problem, I passed the time looking at the other things in the shop. When 7-8 had passed I was making my way around back to the roasted chicken area and the display was now empty! I looked at the counter and saw a guy grabbing a bag with what looked like a roasted chicken and I said the guy behind the counter “that’s my chicken?” The guy looked confused and called another guy, so basically the chicken I was waiting and wasting my time for got sold to someone else. Can’t recommend this customer service.

My favourite shop to go to. - the closest place I can get a good halal range in my area and the staff are so nice. Their olives are incredible (shown in the image) and a lovely thing to bring to family gatherings. The rotisserie chicken is so succulent and pairs amazingly with the toum, a great quick dinner alternative to a takeaway.

Grocery shopping is quick and easy at Phoenicia, but the real highlight is their cooked food section the lunch boxes are definitely worth a try

Great food market with a large variety of preserves, herbs, spices, nuts, dried fruits, pickles etc. Very friendly and helpful staff, with decent prices for most items. Some difficult to find spice blends like zatar or berbere spice is also available here.

The best shop in the uk and perhaps the world. I got a falafel wrap here like 3 or 4 years ago and I think about it twice every day because it was the most delicious thing I have ever eaten. All of the employees deserve a nobel prize for their contributions to humanity

Are you in need of a place where you can both indulge in a delicious Middle-Eastern wrap and breast-feed your baby? - Well, then you should come to Phoenicia! Phoenicia is a lot: it's a supermarket, a butcher, a quick-lunch place, as well as a place where you can come to and have a lovely chat with a friend while eating away at their delicious selection of baklava. As for the wraps/sandwiches, there are basically two choices: the Lebanese wrap (a plain flat-bread wrap) or the Moroccan wrap (a flat-bread with spinach inside). Once you've made this difficult choice, you have to make more choices...you can fill your wrap with salads (such as tabbouleh), spreads (such as humous) and meats (such as spicy chicken or merguez). But, if you don't want to choose, you might as well order two kinds of wraps as the prices of one is very reasonable. Later, you may want to top it all off with a nice baklava, which you might even get for free if you're really nice. In fact, speaking of nice, the service here is super-friendly. Everyone is very polite and they bring your food to the table... After your lunch (or whatever you've had) you should go check out their supermarket...you will basically find here anything you need. They also have a very nice selection of organic products.

Go here for the baklava! The rest of the shop is packed with good ingredients...but to be honest most of the times I have found myself here is because I (or my husband) had a baklava craving. Their pastries are just sooo good! They have all sorts of shapes, with all sorts of nuts. Just don't buy too many as they are best eaten while they are still fresh. We've tried buying a large tray full, thinking we could eat some the following day...but they are so tasty that we ended up piggy-ing them all in one sitting. Oops.

Phoenicia is a great Mediterranean mini supermarket in the ever increasing health food conscious Kentish Town. On entering the store you immediately face the vast array of fresh olives on offer. I find it almost impossible to walk by without delving in for an olive pic n mix. There is a meat counter that mingles the usual suspects with delightful continental options. Their dairy section is good with lots of different Halloumi's to choose from. There is also an exciting array of organic yogurts, hummus and several other dips to add a continental twist to any meal. In the main area of the supermarket they have continental versions of nearly all the general grocery items you'd put on a weekly list. They do have odd surprise's like Halva and oh so tasty Turkish delight if you are feeling a bit naughty.

Great place. Wonderful food to take out AND as I discovered today, great middle Eastern food to eat in too. I had a large plate of spicy chicken,a sausage & gorgeous mixed salad all for £4-00.Delicious. I agree the food in the supermarket section is expensive but its fresh & such good quality its worth paying a bit more ; even for their lovely pitta. Loads of unusual items too numerous to mention what a great find! It does home deliveries,office parties. Lebanese catering a speciality. Yum!

My roommate and I went here on a mission. We took our highest level CIA (Conquest In Amusement) passes and set out to get some baklava. We generally apprehend villains and seek out clandestine spy networks, but this mission was a bit lighter than usual. We arrived safely at Phoenicia, and our quest began. On my immediate right as I walked in, I saw a huge vat of marinating vegetables. Olives, mostly... hmm interesting. I made a note. Olives stuffed with garlic, with almonds, with jalapenos, with chili - a million orbs or delight. Then came the fresh meat deli, the fridges with haloumi cheese and feta, and the dry goods section with dried chick peas, a large selection of teas, regular-ish items and more. Then came a stampede of giraffes. Then came world peace. Then, we went to the baklava section. Oh heavens, look at it all, little squares and balls of delight piled high as snowdrifts in Greenland. I felt like that greedy girl in Charlie in the Chocolate factory, "Daddddyyyyyy, I want it all!!!" I settled upon a selection few pieces of those honeyed delights, dished out some of those amazing olives into a box and went to the register. The baklava was perfection in a rectangle (I guzzled all it down in 2.5 days), and the olives (which I am eating slowly over the days to make the glory last) are bursting with zesty flavor. I couldn't be a happier camper. I'll have to go back for seconds. And thirds. And fifty firsts.

This supermarket just gets better and better. You can get everything you need for your ottolenghi and madhur jaffrey recipes, they do a really tasty rotisserie chicken and their Moroccan flat bread is delicious. Amazing olives Tasty humous and other home made dips Decent veg and herbs Baklava Every type of oil and sauce you can think of. Ask for the special hot chillies at the counter!

Love this place! Whenever I'm in a peckish mood during work hours, I always make a run for this place! Their Wasabi and Chili nuts are super good for sharing and they're SO YUMMY! Nom nom nom.. They also do other med. type snacks and desserts including some really well made baklava. For lunch, they have a warm food counter; I have only ever had their spicy chicken and avocado wrap which was good, if a little greasy from the spices positively dripping off the chicken. It's good for a spicy treat at lunch, and the prices are very reasonable. Win!

This store is a local gem. I love coming here. Phoenicia has a european food shop, a cafe and a deli. They sell vegetarian food and these delicious spicy potatos you can take away. I find the prices in this shop to be decent. They have a really big selection, actually one of the biggest around. I'm excited to share this shop with you because it really is a great place, you might miss if you don't know to go in. I buy olives and sultanas here and stop for the spicy potatoes and hummus (the nights affairs don't require me to have nice breath LOL). I haven't tried the cafe in the eastern side of the shop but they have a good amount of seating. The only thing is don't buy the bag that folds up by the counter (the eco bag). You can get a cheaper one at Marks.

Phoenicia is a combination of a Middle Eastern cafe and supermarket. Infamous for their cheap but tasty food (a spicy sausage wrap to go costs £1.50 and their Egyptian noodle soup is only £1.20) Phoenicia is finally somewhere that serves up a good meal for a good price. The supermarket is huge and incorporates a butchers where you can buy halal meat, a bakery where Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cakes are on display and also a grocers where a huge array of different seasoned olives takes centre stage. If you fancy one of the shop's amazing falafel's I'd recommend heading down before the weekday lunchtime rush as the shop is so popular they often run out of fillings, however the afternoons are also quiet and a good time to go if you just want to chill out in the cafe with a Turkish coffee and watch the world go by.

Fantastic delicatessen/tea rooms/butchers and anything in between. You can find some really interesting ingredients and meats here and they sell rotisserie chickens for about £4 and you can ask for a free pot of garlic with it. The staff have always been friendly, polite and helpful and it isn't that expensive compared to any high St supermarket. This is also the only place you can buy Lamb mince and kofta kebabs on Kentish Town rd.

well-stocked middle-eastern grocery that has a cafeteria-style cafe adjacent. you will find ahmad teas as well as giardiniera [pickled cauliflower, etc], as well as de cecco dried pasta [the best in mass-market pasta]. excellent bulk olives in many permutations, from lemon coriander, and dried black, to garlic-stuffed. i recommend the kibbe [ground meat with bulghur wheat, onions, & spices] at the cafe. the spinach coil in fillo-like dough was less successful, mainly because there was insufficient spinach within. if you are buying pastries, be sure to inquire when they were baked, as they are not fresh every day because baklava, for example, has a several day shelf life.] the mahmoul, both pistachio and date, were quite good.

Phoenicia is probably the best shop in Kentish Town for variety, quality and display. Their bunched herbs are unparalleled for freshness, price and quantity, their olives self-service bar is the only one in the area and the selection is from across the Mediterranean. Apple vinegars, chili and peppers sauces, extra virgin olive oils and flower waters are a few of the goodies on offer which make Phoenicia the top choice for reasonably priced, actual healthy foods as opposed to the overpriced hyped brands sold in health stores, also on offer. A wide selection of Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Middle Eastern sweets are also on offer. Perhaps the best part is the refrigerated section, with a mouthwatering, lunch-box size range of bean, vegetables and lentil salads, alongside hummous of various kinds, falafels and babaganoush. A lunchtime 'must try' for the area.

Best wrap in London I think!!! I used to come here everyday for lunch 7 years ago when I first moved to London so it was a pleasant blast from the past going back. The more ocean wrap with potato, hummus and salad is my favourite. I also tried their baklava it was great!!!!!! So cheap too!

A great local, deli cafe come mini supermarket. I had lunch here today- half a roasted chicken, hummus and salad for £4.50. Such good value for money and really tasty. The deli counter looked tempting but I was stuffed, freshly cooked samosas, baba ganoush, stuffed olives- a 3 or 4 meter long counter is lined with such delights. My mum (who was there with) had a coffee which she remarked was the best in Kentish town. So there we go, good value, fresh, tasty food.

Yum! Stopping into Phoenicia, I called my partner right after to ask him why we didn't live closer to Kentish Town. I stopped here on a complete whim, thinking of picking up a couple of things to eat later in the day and was so pleased - at both the prices and the fare. Perfect stop to go if you're looking to pick up items for a grazing lunch or for some homemade items to entertain friends. I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area for some fresh bread, hummus and olives!

Foodhall is such an American term and Phoenicia Foodhall isn't quite the type of foodhall I imagine foodhalls to be. Having said that it is full to the scuppers with just about one of every foody thing I can think of and is kinda hally too so And there's a café area. That on top of the butchers, the bakers and candlestick makers. Not quite, but almost. Cake shop? Yes! Buthers? Yes! Greengrocer bit? Yes! Cold cabinet, freezery bit? Yes! Turkish delight? YES! AND not only but also you can buy your shish pipe and tobacco to enjoy post foody delights. You need never shop anywhere else again. Quality.

As a shop and a lunch spot, Phoenicia is fantastic. They carry the full range of Middle Eastern goods and ingredients, fresh spices, huge selection of olive oil (not all olive oil is created equal), and a surprising range of Italian pastas - can't say I understand why, but I'm thrilled to find Barilla stocked somewhere. The butcher is also a man worth knowing. If you're not adventurous enough to try cooking at home, their deli has lots of cheap and cheerful but really tasty wraps and sandwiches readily available. And with everything being so fresh it'll feel like a much bigger treat than the price implies.

One of the best grocery stores in the area. Great fruits, vegetables, spices and specially coffee.

I defy anyone with a recipe tightly squeezed in their floury hands not to go into Phoenicia and emerge with everything they need, unless they're preparing Whale Burgers for the in-laws. Great range of breads, including wholemeal wraps which cost three times as much as at Somerfield on the other side of the road. Staggering array of olives, and more spices than you can shake a hookah at (they sell them as well). Recommended!

An excellent place. We have shopped here for the past few years and have always loved the olives, breads, baklavas, meats... The staff are dedicated and you may be suprised by quite how much stuff is in there. We had some friends over for dinner and made an easy mezze of kebabs with all the trimmings between us very easily (ready made kebabs were excellent). The lunch there is very good too. They now have a new coffee section, which smells great but I am yet to try. The best value is on staples like humas, pitta bread and fresh olives, olive oils... - all of which are cheaper and better quality than the big supermarkets.

Yes, there's a nice selection of middle eastern food. Yes, there's nice olives, and I used to love the moroccan style bread. But it is really expensive. More expensive than the ultra-bourgeois Earth Health food shop a few doors down. So if you want supplies rather than special olives, go to Frank's in Queen's Crescent!!

Great place. Fantastic food. From the restaurant to the deli (try their amazing, fresh kebabs), to the supermarket selling foods from all over the world. The guys who run this place are friendly and always happy to recommend stuff to try.

What a gem this place is and the staff working there too are so lovely. The butcher always has amazing meats for the BBQ, the Lebanese spit roast chickens have me salivating just thinking about them and the variety of food available in the supermarket is second to none. I go here weekly and pick up fresh mint. It's always super fresh and comes in a huge bunch, unlike the rotten leaves sold at Kentish Town Fruit Bowl.
