Jamie W and I have been enjoying visits to the White Horse Inn on random Saturdays for a while now. We had noticed this corner Vietnamese takeout spot but didn't try it until quite recently when I was having a post-cocktail hankering for pho. Luckily Jamie was starving, too, so we ended up sharing three familiar items and having them at the outdoor table next to the big mural (photo: https://yelp.to/X_xPeJEy5i).
We started with the $9.95 Fresh Shrimp Spring Rolls, which were generously assembled with lettuce, vermicelli, and plenty of split prawns encased in translucent rice paper accompanied by a sweet peanut dipping sauce (photo: https://yelp.to/_UapbYqWp6). The second item was the $9.95 Grilled Pork Banh Mi which, a soft French roll robustly stuffed with pork, cucumber, shredded carrot and radish, and cilantro (photo: https://yelp.to/xGzS28kOct).
That was definitely one of the better banh mis I've had outside of Saigon Sandwich. The $14.95 Roasted Chicken Noodle Soup wasn't technically pho but Hu Tieu Ga Nuong, a South Vietnamese soup with a lighter broth and larger chunks of chicken (photo: https://yelp.to/2ioXM-lGKJ). I don't think I've had this variation before, but it was pretty satisfying. All in all, this was a nice find on Telegraph for hearty Vietnamese eats.
