Why Siem Reap is Southeast Asia’s newest foodie destination (and where to eat) - SilverKris

"Sprawling and largely free of tourists, this morning market delivered some of my most vivid bites—bundles of salted and smoked fish at the stalls, vendors erupting in laughter as orders rolled in, and multiple breakfasts ranging from jujube stewed to stickiness in ginger‑infused palm sugar to an impossibly rich pumpkin‑soy milk smoothie and bobor (rice porridge). I also discovered tart‑sweet‑salty j’ruah pickles, wrapped burrito‑style in prahet (fishcakes), a reminder that much of Siem Reap’s great street food is found inside markets like this." - SilverKris

Yeah you HAVE to see this place. Wow, everything. plan a couple hours to see it all. Clothes, jewelry, hats, souvenirs, prepared food, flowers, live and gigantic sea food in swimming tubs, (look at those monster blue prawns) and even stacks of counterfeit cash from any country. Even grandma dressed like she's fifteen. Fun!

So many sights and smells! We had a great time exploring the market and as tourists we were told that we are honoured guests. We saw some security guards and one took a quick photo of me/us as I came off the tour bus. Maybe he had to prove he went to work today 😅 I was surprised when I was greeted in English by a woman sewing at her fabric booth. She asked where I was from and when I said Canada she asked if I spoke French or English because she speaks a little of both.

It's a local market. It has the freshest food, vegetables, and seafood around. It’s a great place to find everything you need.

Central market in Sihanoukville, possible to buy everything what you want – fruits, meat, fish, seafood, clothes. Of course better come from morning

Well you can immerse yourself in the mayhem of Cambodia daily life. We managed about 50minutes wandering around here. Lots to see , hear but more often , smell ! I’d be very wary buying , you have to have a price in mind and say with it a half or a third of the price stall holders kick off with ! We found quite a few money exchange kiosks around local streets nearby and they were good rates If you want to get a feel of everyday life give this a visit . Be aware and be on your toes and you should be OK
