"San Franciscans will say goodbye to a popular Mission District bar and pizzeria in the coming weeks. SFGATE reports that 13-year-old Pi Bar, a restaurant and bar located on Valencia Street between 25th and 26th streets, will close by the end of February. The owners coyly announced the impending closure on Instagram, sharing a photo of a public notice of application for transferring the business’s liquor license to a new owner. Co-owner Rich Rosen and his wife and co-owner Jen Garris tell SFGATE that the decision to close comes from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Rosen says that the couple has been running the restaurant without help from any additional staff for the past three years." - Lauren Saria

"How many slice places have Pliny the Elder on tap? Pi Bar does: Basically, its’ a quality beer bar with a kitchen turning out whole pies and slices. Those are $4.50, with 35 cents for extra for toppings — two and a beer is a square meal." - Caleb Pershan

"Russian River may get all the love for Pliny the Younger, their yearly triple IPA release, but their ‘tion series of aged and sour beers are arguably the more compelling. Pi Bar serves them and has a secret weapon: Pizza." - Caleb Pershan

Great spot! Loved the environment and decor! The bartenders were great and very friendly. Nice selection of sour beers. The white sauce pizza was very good, complimented well with the pizza, great selection of music.

I loved the interior and service. But my pizza slice wasn't good - pesto and red sauce just don't come together very well.

Small but nice bar, good lively crows for a Tuesday night. They have a comprehensive pizza menu (plus other options). It was a bit pricier than I expected, but nice overall.

A Mission locals favorite, this pizza joint offers some of the best beers on tap you'll find in the city. The pizza? I can't recommend the mushroom sauce enough, and they're homemade hot sauce is delectable. Just want a slice? Join them at happy hour from 3:14-6:28. They don't call it π Bar for nothing!

Great mix of a bar and pizza place! Got a small pizza along with a couple of beers and really enjoyed it. The decor has a pretty laid back bar feel, lots of wood furniture and low lighting, looks nice and has good seating options. The owner / bar tender is really friendly, too.

Really good pizza place. They like to make it with a crispier crust which many enjoy, and their menu is very unique and features some interesting pizza topping combinations which makes it a fun visit. The beer selection is very nice and offers many local brews on tap.

Came here during beer week to try to taste some Pliny the Younger but they had already sold out. Still a good beer list and quick service for how crowded the bar was. Pizza is cheap, by the slice or full pie and pretty well made. A bit crispy but tasty after a few drinks. Great casual bat in the mission.

Pretty good rendition of New York style pizza. All toppings are excellent. Large and interesting variety of beers on tap with occasional tasting events. The place can get pretty crowded at night but is good to go with kids before the dinner rush starts.
