Lawsuits Allege Cherry Pie Hospitality Stiffed Its Investors Before Selling Off Its Restaurants in a Fire Sale | Eater Houston

"Sold in August 2018 as part of a bundle to Sambrooks Management Company (owned by Michael Sambrooks) for a combined $464,994 that included recipes, intellectual property, and pieces of restaurant equipment stored in a warehouse; the sale was likely below market value, and plaintiffs allege the proceeds were insufficient to satisfy a $1 million investor loan and that the investor received nothing." - Amy McCarthy

Houston’s Biggest Dining Stories of 2018 | Eater Houston

"Once operated by a local hospitality group that suffered landlord lawsuits and alleged unpaid rent, this pizza restaurant experienced a lockout in the Heights in 2017, a brief reopening, and was later sold to a new restaurant group as part of a larger divestment." - Amy McCarthy

Pi Pizza and Star Fish Slated to Reopen Tomorrow After Today’s “Banking Snafu” | Eater Houston

"Lunchtime diners were surprised to find the restaurant closed with signage saying the door locks had been changed; the operator attributes the incident to a "banking snafu." Overdue rent has been paid and new keys are on the way, and company representatives pointed to recent leadership upheaval—including the departures of Chef Anthony Calleo and founding partner Lee Ellis—as a contributing factor. The restaurant is scheduled to reopen tomorrow at 11 a.m." - Adele Chapin

My wife and I stopped here after a show at the Prudential Center. Excellent pizza, and a great value. I tried Portuguese toppings for the first time, with sliced eggs, tomatoes, and black olives. My wife had a slice with arugula and ham. The quality was excellent, and the value was surprisingly good. Two specialty slices and a can of ginger ale for under $10. I would highly recommend, and we would definitely return.

During my first visit, my partner and I ordered a couple of slices, and the pizza was delicious. Later, we decided to return to Pi Pizza with the whole family. We inquired about seating arrangements, and learned they shared space with a sushi and steakhouse. We enjoyed the pizza even more this time, but unfortunately, the waiter significantly overcharged us, with the extra money seemingly going to the steakhouse instead of the pizzeria. He charged $5 for a small cup of juice for my 2yr old, $5 for a can soda, and $4.50 for a bottle of Poland Spring water, This unexpectedly increased our bill considerably. Despite this, I left a tip, even though I'm going through homelessness i am not petty. However, I now understand why there were so few customers dining in; the bar was completely empty. I hope management will address this pricing issue, as it has unfortunately resulted in the loss of my business. 20 for the pizza and 23 for 3 drinks... Including tax & he sneaked in 6.23 service fee.. Apart from the steakhouse the cashier and the elderly guy was the sweetest at the pizzeria counter.

This place is incredible!!! Their thin crust is crispy perfection, and the variety of flavors is out of this world. From classic Margherita to creative toppings, every slice is a winner. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff is super friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. If you're a pizza lover, you need to check this place out. Highly recommended!

Do Not Order Online. Fraud. We ordered a meal online. Prepaid, arrived on time and they were closed 2 hours early . I contacted store immediately. 3 days later my order was said to be picked up and I was charged full amount. Management will not respond to my emails.

Food is good but the moment you sneak charge service fees, charge me 5 bucks for 1 single can of coke etc....it negates how good the food is. Pizza is eaten by my family at least 3-4 times a week, so while this establishment may not feel the loss of my business they'll certainly have not gained substantial new business. Realistic math is I spend 3,000 a year on pizza approximately and other more honest establishments will get my money not here.
