Shrinking Chain Pi Pizzeria Is Closing in Bethesda - Eater DC

"Pi Pizzeria, the pizza restaurant that started in St Louis, Missouri, is closing its shop at 7137 Wisconsin Avenue by the end of the week. A staffer tells Eater the lone Maryland outpost, which debuted in April 2016, should be done by Friday, February 2 (Sunday, February 4 at the latest). The Pi worker says the Penn Quarter location is staying put." - Warren Rojas

The food was good, the service was lacking. I came in with a party of dive and we had to wait for 10 minutes for a seat, no big deal. The drawback was that there was nowhere to sit and wait, the only place we could be was standing in front of the hostess booth. The hostess was apathetic, and when we were seated the area has a caution sign and had food all over the ground they was also for some reason covered in water. This wouldn't really bother me but there was no warning or any indication from the staff anything was wrong. Next, another member of the staff literally threw down our forks and knives at breakneck speed with a loud thunk. We got the kale salad and deep dish Berkeley, which were both delicious and come highly recommended. The food was good and the price decent, just wish it was a lot cleaner and the staff slightly more approachable. Overall recommend as a quality pizza joint.

I wouldn't visit this restaurant again. It is about two blocks away from my house, so I was excited to try it. However, I find it is overpriced and the service is sub par. It seems like the employees are more so there to hang out with each other - which again, provided for a not so great customer experience. The pizzas are good - thin and wood fired. I had a sandwich the second time I returned and I would not order it again.

The pizza was good. They give you a ton of choices and toppings to choose from. Not good enough to justify the high price but it was good. I ordered online and my order was ready upon arrival. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I would visit this place again but not frequently. Their prices are way to high they need to cut it lol.

The pizza crust was hard and not very tasty. Lots of cheese as per st Louis pizza. Cheese does not have a lot of flavor. The tomato sause on top was good. We basically couldn't find the pepperoni. We had olives as appetizer and they were very good. My daughter put on list not to return.

Went in in late May with friends following my son's band concert along with another parent and child. We had been once before and I found the food to be just OK (with the exception of the meatballs. The meatballs are delicious). The challenge we had was that it was SWELTERING in there. We asked several times to have the space cooled. First, the attitude of everyone other than our server was very flat - they clearly didn't care that sweat was rolling down my back and my husband's face, as well as the other adult in our party. The server seemed concerned and made some excuse about the AC not working properly but we got no relief to to point that we took most of the food to go. No one apologized. In fact, since we were among the last there they seemed happy to see us go. The DC location is far better and I will never return o Bethesda. In fact, I bet it will be closed within a year.

New Haven-style pizza is finally here in DC. The pizza here is just like the style at Pepe's or Sally's from New Haven. Crispy crust, slight charring on the outside, brick ovens, slightly sweet tomato sauce, gooey cheese. The interior is well decorated and maintains a similar look to Pepe's (but slightly more upscale), and they offer all the pizzas you'd expect (like the white clam!). Only complaint is the price--it's a bit more pricey than your typical pizza fare.

I ordered a small deep dish pepperoni pizza. It was the worst pizza I've ever had. It was covered in a massive amount of tomato sauce to hide the shortage of pepperoni slices, which was one per slice. The cheese under all that sauce was so thin that I could hardly taste it because of all the damn tomato sauce. The crust was hard and tough to chew and they charged $15 for this mess. If I could give less than 1 star I would. You could get a better pizza at a convenient store.

Had an extremely bad experience here today at lunch. We tried this place out because we bought a Goupon for it. Really nice decor and very clean. That's all I can say about it. The service was horrendous. We ordered 2 pizzas a salad and coke. We have to substitute the second pizza because "they changed the menu" according to the waiter. The coke was completely flat so I asked for another. Appearently, the waiter assumed not fixing the machine and just getting a refill would help. Brings out another flat coke. The first pizza comes out right after the salad. Great cause we are hungry. We finished and 30 mins later no second pizza. We ask the waiter about it he says it's coming. We wait some more and just ask for the check and pizza to go. Turns out they won't accept our groupon so I just pay by card. As I sign the ticket the second pizza comes out to the table but is not boxed. We are standing and ready to leave. He puts it on the table and a third pizza comes out! These guys are a mess! The manager is unapologetic and we just leave all our pizzas there and leave. We don't even want to deal with getting them boxed. Agree with the other reviewer that all the workers are just hanging out. I basically paid a full bill for all pizzas because the manager didn't even say anything to us about the poor service. The manager made no effort to make things write with us and just watched as we walked out the door. Will never return!
