"At this restored locksmith shop-turned-bar, boozy Manhattans and mulled sangria are served alongside brisket or portobello sliders. DJs spin vinyl sets most nights of the week while a wood stove next to the DJ booth lends a living room vibe. The dim mood lighting doesn’t hurt the hygge, either." - Carrie Uffindell, Eater Staff

"Keys is the archetypal Mad Men bar, the kind of place that seems purpose-built for multi-martini business lunches or jet-set appointments. The rugs are Persian, the furniture is swoopy, and the ice cubes clink together like cuts in a Hitchcock movie. The cocktail menu features playful interpretations of the classics; the well-appointed room in which to drink them feels like a tribute to the hi-fi era, with an entire wall dedicated to densely packed album cubes and intriguing features like a crackling, freestanding fireplace on one side, a pair of blood-red diner booths on the other. It’s rare for a public place to feel so thoughtful and intimate — the extreme attention to detail on display makes Keys feels more like a living room than a neighborhood watering hole." - Ben Coleman

I went here for a birthday dinner and the vibe, music, and food was great. Only reason for the 4 stars because of the table we were seated that the upper light above the table was not working. I had to asked the waitress for three small lamps to see the menu, see the food, and feel comfortable. Overall, they were friendly and accommodating.

Google
Went for brunch with the girls and vibe is really nice, DJ on point. Food was good. I got jerk chicken and waffles. The chicken was tender and delicious, but my issue was with the waffles. I'm pretty sure these are store bought waffles you buying bulk, they were very sugary. I don't understand why they just can't make waffle batter and serve homemade waffles. Other than that, this would have been a 5 star rating for food.

Google
Reservations weren’t clear but Manger (?) & Staff accommodated me & my 15 guest to enjoy my 66th birthday. Piano Keys has just added more guest because of their hospitality & all of its entertainment, food and space. Everything that I wanted and more!! Thanks for the BEST 66th birthday.

Google
Celebrated my birthday here. The band was great, showed love all night to all the birthdays. The service here is hit or miss. We waited 45 minutes for drinks bottle service. Food came quick. Vibe is nice. Parking is plentiful. I love that I can come here any day of the week and enjoy an upbeat atmosphere.

Google
The whole red snapper was AMAZING! I rarely take photos of my food, but the presentation of the snapper was on point. The mac and cheese and cabbage tasted like someone’s grandma was in the kitchen. I was praying the cabbage would be soft and seasoned, and it did not disappoint! Best snapper in southern Maryland… hands down!

Google
My family and I recently celebrated my mother's birthday and had the time of our lives there. The atmosphere was great, drinks were great, and the food was AMAZING! Chef Kay was excellent! Loved her food!

Google
It was a great local place to celebrate my husband's birthday and our 26th Anniversary. It happened to be karaoke night. We were able to dance & cheer for karaoke. DJ Big John was Crankin.

Google
Had a blast!!! Food, atmosphere, the crowd, it was definitely the place for a Friday night out and celebrating Scorpio birthdays. DJ/Band were all that and then some!!! I'll give service a 5, because it was busy and everyone in the place was ordering food and drinks. A large crowd, VIP area is reserve area behind the restaurant area and requires a fee. Best place hands down to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, etc.

Yelp
The food is amazing, especially those jerk wings!! Atmosphere is always dope and the live music and DJs are always on point. Whatever you're in the mood for, this place can take you there. Oh and always experience great service.

Yelp
This was my first time at this Restaurant. I heard about it though. My gf wanted to do happy hour so she suggested this place. I said if you're driving. I'm riding lol. It did not disappoint. The food was delicious! We arrived during happy hour time. So we ordered our menu from the Happy Hour list. I ordered the salmon sliders. As well as the mussels. Enjoyed it all. The ambiance was nice and they had plenty of seats available since we arrived early around 06:30 pm The Band started around 8pm We had a good time. They do have a small dance floor. Also a small bar area with plenty of booths and tables available as well as VIP tables. I was definitely feeling the vibes here And It was all good. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you haven't already.

Yelp
Alexa Play Take You Out by Luther Vandross. If you live in Brandywine there are only so many restaurants to put in rotation for dinner. My honey and I came for dinner on Friday. (9/27) It was my first time. I'm getting acclimated to the boondocks. Slowly but surely I'm starting to like it out here. Piano Keys is beautiful. For a lounge it's super pretty. Ambiance is perfect for couples who want a place to come eat, drink, and dance. Not sure for date night, this is more a club/lounge. So date night, probably not! Ladies have your man take you to a restaurant for date night not a lounge. We got seated immediately upon entrance. Lucky us, a band was going to play. Score for me, cause I love music, so does he! Our waitress was new on the job, she made it known, so can't knock her for the slow service. A disclaimer is always good. At first there was DJ music which was cool. Then we got to hear the band. Super cool. Dinner and live music, I'm sold!!!! Attire: Ladies dress up! Do you! Go all out! It's a lounge and some women are dressed up and some not, anyway you come you'll fit in. Let's get into it! Calamari is my fave so of course we ordered that. It's delicious! Short rib with mashed potatoes, and collard greens - Yummy! Really really good. Lamb Chops - Good but they didn't beat my short rib. Drinks - Good Overall I would definitely come back! The vibe is great! Couldn't give them 5 stars because the evening was not perfect. Food did come out cold and even when my honey sent it back (which he never does) it was still just lukewarm. We aren't complainers at all and always make the best of a night so still worthy of 4 stars!

Yelp
Nightclub atmosphere! Dining area and dance/lounge area in the back. If you are looking for a date night where you can have an intimate place to dine, this is not it. The music is always obnoxiously loud and it is difficult to have a conversation seated next to each other without speaking loudly. Live DJ, live music often is nice to have in a town Brandywine's size. The drinks are heavy pours so stay alert! The food was okay. The service was decent. This seems to be the "hot spot" in Brandywine. The crowd is female dominant, no diversity, and seems Jerusalema is their theme song... always on the DJs playlist. This a good place aunties and uncs to shake a leg plus cool for girls night out... a date night spot to eat, drink, and dance but definitely not romance!! Give Piano Keys a try for yourself and decide!

Erika S.

Yelp
I have heard about this spot forever but never been able to go. I finally went for a Commanders event watch party. The DJ Reddz was everything as he was getting the people excited. The food was really good. The southern fried chicken was good but not seasoned as much as I would have liked. The mashed potatoes and asparagus were flavorful. The wings were bomb and flavored well. The steak was seasoned perfectly and cooked well. The salmon bites were good we just added a bit of hot sauce. My drink the reunited was tequila based and sweet.

Chant'l M.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for date night and had a ball! The DJ played all the music I love to hear: 90's and 2000's Hip Hop and R&B, a few of the new school songs for the grown and sexy only with a few line dances to top it off. We were not planning on staying out all night when we arrived, but the DJ was so good, we couldn't get off the dance floor if we wanted to! The drinks were strong and delicious - my husband is very picky about his mixed drinks and he ordered two! We didn't expect to have so much fun in a Waldorf strip mall but Piano Key's definitely showed us a good time. Highly recommend for the grown folks looking to party with grown folks - they're playing our kinda music in there :)

Yelp
Plenty of parking! And the food was divine. The bartender off of knew her way around a drink. The atmosphere was vibrant and where our watch body was was just private enough but still gave access to everything happening around you.

Yelp
I had a wonderful time at Piano Keys this past Friday, had an unexpected surprise with the live band but it was jamming + great customer service & even better food/drinks. My server Jordan made it such a memorable experience and I would definitely be back!

Lakeisha S.

Yelp
My friends & I went to this establishment after the winery. Some of my friends ordered several dishes, so I could not capture everything that was ordered from them, just tue ones that were seated by me. The food: I ordered the Whole Red Snapper Dinner. I ordered mine to be blackened and broiled. I must say I was delightfully surprised at how delicious it was. The fish was seasoned + cooked to perfection and was very juicy. My only issue was that it was too much bones in the fish, which made it a bit difficult to eat freely. My friends ordered "bite-sized" cauliflower, which was also quite delicious. My other friend got the salmon sliders, and they were very thick and juicy. I believe she really liked them, and she devoured them pretty quickly. I think the food in general is very large portions and you will get your money's worth, even the drinks and appetizers. Unfortunately, the service here was not the best. I had to keep begging for water and it to go box for my meal. Our way to also did not fill our cups of water that often. While I am someone that give grace to wait staff, I still found it a bit interesting that she did not feel our waters up quite often. The ambiance of the restaurant was a split of a restaurant and a lounge. I think it becomes somewhat of a club/lounge at a certain time; I believe at 9:00 p.m. or later. I will say that this place is a bit of a drive it's outside of Brandywine Maryland (I think 20 minutes outside of it), so definitely carpool if you can. Try to put in an early reservation on weekend nights because it does start to get crowded at a certain time. I would give the place more stars if the wait staff improved tremendously.

Yelp
I hate being the person to give 1-star reviews, but yepp... here goes.... This place was terrible, and terrible it was. The only reason 1-star is not acceptable is because the dj played good music, and the grilled catfish was decent. Oh but moving on to everything else... My good girlfriend and I planned about 3-weeks in advance to visit this establishment, and she decided to make a reservation for us. We arrived on time, and was seated immediately. But right after that, is where the problems began. Our server, whose name escapes me, had her first day yesterday (4/14/24), and was scheduled to our section. I tried to give her grace, but boy it was tough. Our drinks took OVER 30 minutes to arrive, but we had some good music surrounding us to keep the vibe going. The 30-minutes also - may not have been such a strain if our tables didn't have the advertised "2-hour maximum seating time" sign posted. Moving on, our server kept coming over to ask if we needed anything. Last thing we needed, was our food. That we ordered an HOUR AND 15 MINUTES earlier.......... I guess the server notices our frustration and walks over to the table to tell us "a few more minutes".. as if a table to our left AND a table to our right, both of who were seated after us, received their food before us. FINALLY - we get our food and my God it was below average. Like really -- dry French toast cold grits? Seriously? This is what we waited an hour and a half for? And oh - since we're being 100% honest here, OUR SERVER LEFT HALFWAY THROUGH OUR VISIT. Never have I ever had that happen to me. And before she left, she told us that Piano Keys scheduled THREE 1pm reservations, which brought a huge kitchen-staff delay. Not sure why that even mattered 2-hours after our arrival. Remember - 2 hour limit right?.... So - overall, you can play the same music the dj plays in your car either leaving, or visiting another restaurant. This establishment is terrible. & simply put, neither of us would return or recommend this place to anyone else.

Teryl R.

Yelp
The only thing that impressed me was my waitress Jordan and the Dj music selection other than that I'm good. I came to do brunch directly at opening time and things were still being set up are far as the Buffett which is the only option for you to receive at this time. The waffle was literally just a waffle that you can make at home and the omelette itself was a mess. The way the chef threw my toppings to one side and cheese in another was not tasteful nor was it presentable (reasons why there isn't a picture). On the opposite side of the omelette station, there was some fresh fruit and bakery items. None of the fruit was sweet in the bakery items tasted store brought. The unlimited mimosas were literally juiced down such a disappointment. Now, as far as the sides that you could order with your buffet, the greens were amazing. The macaroni was good however, the grits were a no for me. The wings and salmon were pretty tasteful, but the bacon just was thinly slice. Also, it took a while for the bus boy to come over and clean our table so as we're eating, we had dirty plates sitting not cool. With this experience, I probably would not come back or recommend but at least I tried it

Yelp
I really enjoyed myself here. The service was great! The staff is very friendly and they check on you often. The food was fresh and well cooked.

Yelp
I was at Piano Bar Lounge and restaurant celebrating a milestone birthday for one of my closest friend and we had a blast. We reserved the VIP Area right in front of the band. The band was great - a really nice vibe. The food was really good and of course the drinks were on point. We ordered the catfish nuggets, jerk wings and chicken tenders. For drinks we had plenty of bottle service. Our waitress was moving in slow motion but she got the job done. The restroom was very clean and they had an attendant there to assist you. I would definitely go back.

Yelp
Never knew this place was here until a few months ago. On a Thursday night, it was jumping! A friend was in town and didn't want to go to the Harbor or DC so I looked up lounges/bars in Brandywine, and Piano Keys popped up! We arrived and the parking lot was very packed. Found a spot and went in. One part is a restaurant, and the other part is the lounge/bar area. Be'la Dona, a gogo band (all girls) performed that night. They were really good. I started following them on social media. We had some drinks (which are very strong by the way) and I don't have a low tolerance! That's my warning! Didn't eat here, but I'd come back to try the food. All around good vibes! Friendly people! Great service!

Karen M.

Yelp
I went back a few more times with my guy, and unfortunately I had a not so good experience with our bill/payment. My credit card was given to hold fir my drinks and dinner, but when my guy came, he paid my bill in cash. I was also charged on my card, which means the waitress got double. How sheisty...this was a few months ago as I have not been back. Disappointing.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I were testing out possible spots for her birthday and decided to check out Piano Keys Sunday Brunch as a possible location because they have free easy parking and were located in MD. Upon arrival the tunes were going with a DJ, and the food was flowing as they have it set up like a buffet style. The set up here is kind of weird with the only bar being in the far rear of the restaurant near back exit doors. We opted to sit at the bar which is far from where other patrons are dining. Also when at the bar you are not facing the stage and the DJ; which I didn't like. The food selection was good including fried chicken, jerk chicken, fried fish, shrimp, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, bacon, sausage, stir fry, salad, string beans, baked salmon and a few desserts. The brunch requires you to sign up for bottomless mimosas for a total of $75 with gratuity I think, by mimosa number 13 things were a little blurry hehe. I will say I did not like that we had to keep requesting another mimosa as we were sitting at the bar so it was clear when we were in need of another round lol. All in all I will return but to my surprise outside of about 7 tables the place was empty. I am curious as to why due to the wide array of food, bottomless mimosas and great tunes being played along with the game. Rare and hidden gem I would for sure return.

Tiffany L.

Yelp
While I'm a regular for Wednesday night karaoke, experiencing brunch at this spot was truly exceptional. The fusion of African and Caribbean flavors adds a unique twist to the menu, with offerings like flavorful jollof rice, spicy jerk chicken, crispy fried chicken, homemade waffles, and succulent salmon. The bottomless mimosas, available in various enticing flavors, perfectly complement the vibrant dishes. The staff members are incredibly attentive and welcoming, contributing to the inviting ambiance that makes every visit a pleasure

Aubree W.

Yelp
I had a brunch reservation here on a Sunday in late July around 1:00PM. There was only one other family dining when my party of three arrived. They have a DJ that plays (loud) good music, and the crowd starts coming closer to 3:00PM. Some people like to get up and dance so if that's not your thing, I would suggest coming within the first few hours of them opening on Sundays. The mimosas are bottomless, and the options were orange, pineapple or cranberry. Brunch was buffet style and everything tasted amazing. There were two servers who put the food on your plate, and I asked for grits, scrambled eggs, bacon, pork sausage, macaroni & cheese, greens, salmon, fried chicken wings and jerk chicken wings. I also asked for crab legs which they keep in the back. There were also various types of fruit which were all sweet and a few dessert options such as brownies and peach cobbler. If you don't eat pork, they also have turkey bacon and turkey sausage. Shrimp is also kept in the back like the crab legs and can be brought to your table upon request. Brunch has a two-hour time limit, and this was money well spent. I will certainly be back in the daytime again. Also, their restrooms were spacious and very clean and tidy. There are multiple stalls and one of the stalls is big enough to fit a wheelchair or baby stroller.

Meka M.

Yelp
Visited during the weekday and they had a live band m, which was great. However, getting to the one bar was almost impossible due to the capacity of the place. The drinks are extremely strong and we were able to order chicken wings which we ate at the end of the bar. The place definitely was potential. They just have some kinks to work out.

Juana R.

Yelp
Amazing food. Great service. Good vibes and music. Totally recommend. Will definitely be back.

Christopher R.

Yelp
I came to the Piano Keys Restaurant & Lounge after I went through the website to gather more information about the place and the dates DCVybe perform on. I live in Northern VA (NVA) Fairfax County! The location is good, and the setting is above average. The food is very good (Catfish Nuggets/Greens)! HOWEVER, the service is very POOR! Server never checked on me to see if my food came out okay! I had to FLAG her down for my BIL! Why should you get great or good service when your TIP is already added to your BILL and if you are paying with Credit Card a "3% FEE" is also added to your BILL! The website stated "Dress Code enforced!" I think not! Tennis Shoes and Shorts and T-Shirts are allowed! BTL - It's about the GREEN STAMPS! I stayed through DCVybe's 1st set and left thereafter. Coming for NVA, this was a good way to travel for DISSAPPOINTMENT! CRICH

Yelp
7/15/2022-Residents of Brandywine & surrounding areas are so excited to have Piano Keys in the neighborhood! We need more high quality dining in the area. I had the opportunity to attend the Soft Opening on Friday. I was taken by how modern & beautiful Piano Keys is. Detected cool vibes as soon as I walked in. Grateful the staff accommodated my small group of friends with premium seating. We were celebrating my birthday. Menu-We ordered drinks, catfish bites, cauliflower bites, shrimp tacos & jerk wings. I had the Cadillac Records cocktail which was very good & Casamigos shots. My friends who were buying birthday drinks commented on the slightly high price tag. The food was tasty. The jerk wings had the guys sweating & asking for water. The shrimp tacos would be much better if the soft shells were grilled. I met one of the charismatic owners and had a conversation with Councilman Harrison regarding future plans for Piano Keys once they obtain their entertainment license. Can't wait for national recording artists to start performing. Their Soft Openings were successful. Such trial runs are necessary to work out the kinks . Piano Keys opens fully in August. Plan to bring positive energy and support!!

Crystal D.

Yelp
I love live music so it was a great surprise that Secret Society (a local DMV) was playing. The wait at 7 for a table was about 40 minutes luckily someone in my party had a table right near the stage. Definitely if I band is performing either get there early or get a table. The drinks were good. We tried the jerk wings they were spicy for sure and fries.

Arielle H.

Yelp
pianokeysrestaurantandlounge located in Brandywine, MD is the place to be if you're looking for delicious Afro-Caribbean cuisine & even better vibes . Depending on the night, service could be better. Live bands may make up for the service. Recommendations: JERK WINGS, JERK WINGS, DID I SAY JERK WINGS?

Bambi S.

Yelp
Brunch stop that has great food, music, and atmosphere. I enjoyed meeting with my friend here on the outskirts of city life/traffic. Parking is available and free. The brunch is buffet style, however, if you have any unique requests the waiter will gladly try to accommodate you. Service here is amazing and my friends spoke very highly of the gentleman on the omelet bar. This is a nice spot to celebrate any occasion.

Yolonda B.

Yelp
I visited on a Wednesday night in December and was instantly surprised by the large crowd (all ages). Parking was not an issue. When you arrive, you can expect beautiful decor and a club-like atmosphere. The night I visited was Karaoke night, so we had entertainment. :) The place was full but it's spacious so I never felt cramped. The service was great and the restroom was clean. They don't split checks. I enjoyed their signature drink, calamari, and shrimp & grits. I would order it all again! My friends enjoyed the short ribs. I wanted to take my friend here for her birthday, and learned reservations (well in advance) are best. Another Brandywine gem!

Kaylyn D.

Yelp
I visited Piano Keys on a Wednesday night with my mom and sisters. My mom invited us here because they have karaoke and thought it'd be fun. It was generally empty, but the ambiance was very nice. I believe on a night where there were more people, the vibes would be amazing. They do have security at the door to check bags. The restaurant and lounge are split into two different areas. All of the food we had that night was veryyyy good and I'm especially a fan of the complimentary cornbread. It's very sweet and fluffy like cake. I ordered the salmon, jollof rice and veggies with a side of Mac & Cheese 10/10! Service is okay, the staff was nice. I would try them again.

Ms P.

Yelp
Good food and atmosphere, but they charge gratuity on everything, and just vibing for karaoke will cost you.

Tami P.

Yelp
We went for Sunday bottomless Brunch and it was a disappointing experience. The food that we did receive was actually delicious. Unfortunately since it's not a buffet style brunch you have to depend on your waitress to serve you and she was MIA. Several times I had to ask other staff to locate our server so that we could place orders for food and mimosas. When we we're able to Find her she said the kitchen was backed up and that we would have to wait. The restaurant wasn't full so there shouldn't have been a problem. The portions were small and no one at our table received more than one refill plate of food. There is an omelet bar and waffle Station so we could eat something while waiting for our disappearing server. At some point I had to talk to the manager because some people in our group didn't received their 1st plate after waiting for over 10 mins. The music and ambience was nice but the price wasn't cheap and with an added 18% gratuity added per person no matter what the size of the party, it simply isn't worth my time or money to ever go back ‍

Desmond B.

Yelp
Good chill spot, enjoyed with the wife. Food is a bit pricey but delicious. Have been eyeing this place since COVID, finally made it. It's live music and DC-GOGO.

Kathy M.

Yelp
We went here to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. After an embarrassing scene because of the hostess, we finally got seated. The food was just ok, frozen calamari, overcooked, frozen sliders, bread was hard however, the catfish nuggets were decent. Drinks were overpriced. The servers are overwhelmed and they have the nerve to charge at 18% gratuity for all parties. However, the atmosphere is adorable. Maybe I just came on a bad night.

Spencer H.

Yelp
Just what the Doctor prescribed for an area that was in dire need of a somewhat upscale establishment for the growing Brandywine community. I hate using the term "Grown & Sexy" because it's sooo Cliché.. LOL, but that's what comes to mind as soon as you walk into Piano Keys. I was impressed by the size and décor and anyone who knows me knows that I am not easily impressed. I came on soft opening night, so it was more of a festive evening of drinks and appetizers than a date night, dining to a full menu. Everyone there was enjoying the "new kid on the block" and seemed to be pleased from what the owners have boldly brought to the neighborhood. Piano Keys has inherent hurdles that they have to cross in a business that's already as tough as nails to succeed. The main hurdle is the actual location. It's behind the main shopping center, "Brandywine Crossing", in an industrial looking strip of random shops. It has both front and rear entrances which is a huge plus. Unfortunately, the rear entrance doesn't have a sign so let's hurry and put one up so folks who park in the rear don't make the mistake of walking the entire circumference of the strip mall to make it to the front. I dine out just about every day and my main gripe would be the price of the cocktails. This place's only chance of long term success in my humble opinion, will come from a contingency of "neighborhood regulars". That being said, $20 for your signature margarita and other signature drinks is NOT going to cut it in Brandywine, Maryland. For example, ''The Point" restaurant is a new venture on the SW DC Waterfront, and their signature drinks are $14, because they know the bar will either make you or break you in this business. Please please PLEASE address this immediately, trust me. In all, I am anxious to experience Piano Keys once they open for full service in August. The soft opening was pre-season, let's see what regular season looks like once dinner is served!! Keeping my fingers crossed because we need this place to be a huge success!!

ItsKita M.

Yelp
Loved the small plates. Food was good. However the bar service is so slow. Food came out fast. I was damn near finished my meal before the first drink. Very slow bar! Then the DJ keep saying tip the bartenders well they need to pick it up. I came supported and tried!!! Then they ran out of glasses! Like really I can't get another drink til they rinse my glass!! Really! They even charged a cover around 8-9p for a lounge where you can't dance! People paid to come in to sit at a table to order food! Our server Jordan was the best!! Sorry will not be back!!!

Dee P.

Yelp
Drinks are good music is really loud and the food is amazing great place is convenient close to home ... service is a little off needs to improve

T C.

Yelp
I am extremely disappointed!! After purchasing tickets for an event, arriving early, (8:30), and spending over $150 for food and drinks, we were told we had to get up from our table after 1.5hrs. Mind you, the artist was not coming on for another 2 hrs...Nothing on the tickets we bought stated that. What is the point of getting there early if you're just going to be booted from your seat?? I have been to several events here and I have never experienced this before but I can guarantee this will be my last time! The appeal of this place was not having to go into the city, free parking, and a laid back vibe....that is NO LONGER THE CASE! You're better off going to DC

Grant T.

Yelp
So... the new spot Piano Keys is off to a bit of a rough start. We made dinner reservations a day in advance, but when we arrived we were politely informed that there's a short wait. NP, we were in no rush. However, once seated, we were informed that they are "short staffed!" Hmmm... okkkk We kindly waited for 20 mins before anyone brought us water! Note to management, we wanted to order drinks from the overpriced drink menu, but after waiting so long, we passed on that idea. Surprisingly, drinks were around $20. So after receiving our water, we quickly informed the waitress that we were ready to order. For appetizers I ordered the fish tacos. For some strange reason, I received the shrimp tacos. For our entrees, my wife ordered the shrimp and grits, she recommends against it. I ordered the jollof rice with chicken. I too recommend against it. My rice was under cooked and the sauce was bland. There's an Africa restaurant in Waldorf (Choba's) that has good Jollof Rice. The ambiance was decent, and the lounge is a bit of a vibe. But there's a odor issue here noted by the tree air fresheners hanging in the doorway and it seems like incense were burning in the rear. There's a soundstage and a DJ. The manager informed us that entertainment would be featured in the future. Staff and management were kind and cool. My guess is, once they make some recipe improvements, increase staff to eliminate the wait and eradicate the smell issue, this will be a good place for the area. I wanted to give 2 1/2 stars. Since 1/2 star is not an option, I moved to 3 stars because of the aesthetics and polite staff. Lastly, because we were not satisfied with our dinner, we drove to the Charles in LaPlata for appetizers and dessert. (See review of the Charles)

Yelp
Everything was bad....food, customer service and drinks. They have too many stipulations for dining on the days they have live bands. They have reserved/VIP tables placed in the most awkward places which makes it hard to dance or get to the bathroom. Lastly, parking is a mess!

Yelp
Great atmosphere . The salmon was the best! The service was on point and the drinks were good too. Definitely going back

Yelp
Went here to karaoke on Wednesday. Establishment is nice. I got the jerk wings and a salmon Caesar salad. My cousin told me the wings were too spicy but I thought it was just fine for jerk wings. The service was a little slow and unorganized but not to the point where it was upsetting. I would return!.

Yelp
The Sunday brunch has a menu where you select two entrees and three sides (see photo). Those items are made to order, but there is a waffle and omelette station. The menu items beyond the stations require a wait time. You can order as much as you want, but you will have to entertain yourself during the wait. The food was underwhelming for $102 (one adult and one child--we only had water) The price point included that mandatory 18% gratuity is charged). The food was not as amazing as expected--not mouth watering. We did not get seconds. There is a dance floor and DJ--the music was amazing. Hence, the third star.

Yelp
Prices was expensive and drinks. Couldn't hear my partner bc the music was too loud. If you're going to have dinner and music playing you should stop dinner at a certain time. Service was ok..

Yelp
Lovely lounge in the Waldorf area! My sister was celebrating her birthday and decided to host it at piano keys. The service and the food was good. We were there during the happy hour, so we were able to get our drinks for a couple bucks. The only downfall I have with piano keys is that with a large table they do not split checks even by seat and they add a processing fee and credit card fee. I don't know if that's a new thing that's starting to go around but definitely not a fan. Oh by the way it was karaoke night Definitely a vibe so go ahead and stop there on a Wednesday night.

Yelp
Let's start by saying, it's a laid back, classy environment. The vibe is nice. The hostess, Crystal, was patient, kind, accommodating and extremely informative. We were a party of 5. We were so impressed with Crystal, we reserved the V.I.P. lounge seating after dinner for $250 plus drinks. The food was good. Not excellent but good. Where it went down hill, the check transaction was not a good experience. Our bill was not bad for a party of 5. With the tip, it was $236. We could only do one check, which was not a problem. The waitress came back and charge us for a another table bill $268. Verses refunding us the difference, she voided the charge and told us it would be 3-5 days before I could get my money back for the $268 and charge my card again for $238. Now, I have over $500 charged on my card for dinner. Mistakes happen but I spoke to the manager, she was rather nonchalant about it. Basically, it is what it is. Not even a complimentary drink for my troubles. When does it come down to double charging my card and your attitude is basically GET OVER IT. Very disappointing. Hopefully the owner will correct this type of customer service for future customers.

Yelp
We went to Piano Keys last Sunday for an all you eat and drink mimosas brunch. The grits were the BEST i ever had, the collards greens, shrimps omelet, turkey bacon, and mimosas were delicious. The waffle was not as crispy as i like but it was flavorful , not a fan of the salmon cakes too dent, it needed a sauce; or a fan of the sausages; I like maple syrup sausages but overall I will go back! The staffs were SUPER friendly!

Yelp
I was really excited about trying this place out. Unfortunately the lady at the front (w/ the plastic badge) stated that I could not come in due to the fact that I had sandals on. It was really off putting because I saw other patrons entering the establishment with open toe shoes, heals and slides. To get more clarity I asked to speak to the manager named Mike who stated that they do not allow open toe shoes because they have slippery hard floors and that people drop drinks often. Which was very contradicting because they allowed the older ladies to go in with no issue. Maybe it was because I am younger looking and they are seeking more of an older clientele. Eitherwho , it was very off putting because I was extremely excited to support a black owned business in my local neighborhood. I guess I will stick with something nearby for dinner. The customer service is horrible and I wish things could have turned out a better way because the food looks really good. But, I refuse to be treated in such a way.

Yelp
If I could do 3.5 stars I would. Venue is nice. Floors are a little slippery so be careful. Bathrooms are nice and clean. Service was decent. Our waitress could've been a little more attentive but we were there during an open mic night and I guess they wanted to respect the artists on the stage. Drink was good. I got the Cadillac Records. For the price I definitely would not order it again lol but it was good. The food *sigh* This was the most disappointing. Maybe because I had high hopes. Idk. We started with the jerk wings and catfish nuggets. The catfish nuggets were really good! By far the best dish we had there. The jerk wings were meh. They came out a little on the cold side. Had they been hotter, it may have helped the flavor but it seems they were oven baked. Cold baked chicken (read stretchy chicken skin) isn't appetizing at all. I got the jollof rice with goat and my friend got the vegetable stew with goat and pounded yam. This all came out on the cold side. We were both pretty disappointed with our meals. The jollof rice tasted like tomato rice, no real spice or flavor. Just tomato and oil. The goat that came with the rice was dry and tough. My friends said her goat had some tender pieces mix with dry/tough pieces and the flavor was ok. She had to ask for another pounded yam as the first was a little dry/thick. She did say the second one they brought out was much better. We boxed up the food and ordered more catfish nuggets. The gratuity/process fee situation was annoying. We made reservations on open table. Upon arrival we were told the dining room was closed and we'd be seated in the lounge area. Nobody mentioned the lounge area would include 18% automatic gratuity. Then there was a processing fee that was explained "that's what the system we use charged" lol. This establishment should be a little more transparent on these additional fees. I explained to both the server and the manager, paying gratuity is not an issue. Being forced to pay gratuity with no heads up about it, is my issue. The manager did offer some consideration which was appreciated. Overall, I can't say that I wouldn't return. I'd likely go see a live band, have drinks and the catfish nuggets again and maybe something else that had to be fried to order lol. I would be hesitant on trying any of the other food that likely isn't cooked to order.

Yelp
My FOLKS wanted to try this place (wasn't my choice ). We got there about 7:30pm. There were two tables, both celebrating birthdays. As we waited for our drinks, around 8ish, more people came in and by that point they had a Officer checking ids and searching people. I'm like, wow, it's like that??! Lol I ordered a Long Island and the jollof rice with fish. While we're waiting on the food, more people came in celebrating birthdays. I'm like, this the birthday spot??! The Long Island was good! Ok, so, the food was disappointing! They gave me two fish pieces with the bone and a half of cup of rice! Three bites total and the rest was bone. My first time having jollof rice but it was all spice No Flavor!! By now I'm realizing this is a place for an older crowd not to mention the DJ said "shout out to AARP"! Lmaoooo By the time I left there were 4 different parties celebrating birthdays. But the Long Island made the experience entertaining!!! It was DISGUSTINGLY LOUD in there. I understand it's a lounge but sitting across from my folks and I literally had to yell!!! They charged a sur charge for using a credit card plus a 18% gratuity per person, it was 2 of us!!! Smh NO I'M NOT GOING BACK!

Yelp
Terrible drinks! Overpriced menu for food that is not great. Will not be returning as my husband ended up very sick after eating and drinking there.

Yelp
This place is a whole vibe! The grown and sexy atmosphere was right up my alley! I love it! The set up is well-thought-out and sanitation-friendly. You only have to get up to get your made-to-order omelette or fresh Belgian waffles at the two stations. Those were very clean, with minimal wait time, and you can get your fruits, desserts and jerk wingettes at either. You order the rest of your food from your server so you aren't contending with a questionably-sanitized buffet self-serve situation. And it's still all-you-can-eat with bottomless mimosas (pineapple, cranberry, orange), all for $54.95 from 11am-5pm on Sundays. The food was so good the first time, I went back again a week later! All the food is really good. The collard greens and mac and cheese are to die for! The jerk wings are amazing (when fresh, as I had a couple chewy ones from the earlier batch). The fried chicken was awesome as well, comes hot out the fryer generally. I'd steer clear of the fried potatoes though. Those weren't the home fries I was anticipating. The music was the BOMB! They have a DJ that plays some really good R&B and hip hop hits. It was a thoughtful mix of music from many eras. They have multiple TVs strategically placed throughout for multi-angled viewing no matter your seating in there. The TVs feature every single football game playing that day so locate the TV with your team playing on it and enjoy! A few tips for the first timer: There is a dress code, which moreso impacts the male guests than the females, but check their website when in doubt. Sundays are a bit more relaxed but you'll look and feel out of place if you come thugged out. There is a slightly higher receipt total for use of electronic payment versus cash. So consider bringing cash instead. Speaking of cash, you should bring a few single dollars to tip your omelette and waffle chefs. They're worth it. And if you eat and drink enough, you'll feel like you got your money's worth overall. I haven't been there during Lounge hours but I've heard all good things. And I saw their pricing for bottle service in the lounge area and they're very reasonable especially compared to DC lounges, and since they have plenty of free parking there, I'd have no reason to go someplace in DC anymore. I highly recommend this Black-owned business!
