The 38 Essential Toronto Restaurants

"In 2015, chef and owner Victor Barry left diners with a sad pit in their stomachs when he shuttered the nearly 30-year-old fine dining establishment Splendido, though he soothed their collective hunger pangs the next year with a new, sophisticated, and family-friendly trattoria. A departure from the gloved service and dainty dishes, Piano Piano kept the soul of Splendido while making Barry’s creations more accessible to the community. At its three locations in the city, the restaurant enchants with staples like fluffy ricotta served with rosemary-studded focaccia and finished with sunflower seeds and chile; paunchy octopus with downy tentacles that have been bathed in fermented garlic honey, served with Japanese eggplant; and naturally leavened sourdough pizzas, such as the Sweet Hornet: a smoldering whirlwind of fior di latte, spicy soppressata, and black olives, all finished with hot honey." - Tiffany Leigh

Such a beautiful spot—loved, loved the atmosphere! Piano Piano is truly a vibe. The setting is warm, stylish, and perfect for a night out. While the pizza wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, the pasta, dessert, and everything else were absolutely perfect. Huge thanks to Sarah for the amazing service—friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. I’ll definitely be coming back!

We went there for Saturday lunch. The lunch special was a great price. You can choose an appetizer, a main dish, and a dessert. We had a lunch special and one pizza. The food was good, the atmosphere was great, and the server was super awesome! You don’t need to make a reservation for Saturday lunch. There were lots of empty tables during afternoon.

Decent food but I’m not sure if it’s worth the price. We ordered the caviar on a savoury donut to start, which was average. For a $15 bite of food, it wasn’t flavorful enough and is just your average donut. The ravioli was pretty tasty and ricotta cheese inside of it was quite creamy. I’m not a huge fan of how big they were (only 3 raviolis) but that’s a personal preference. The canestri was delicious and spicy, the nduja in it was very good. Overall, the service was stellar though and the restaurant itself is quite aesthetic.

The burrata and egg ravioli were absolutely delicious! The pizza was decent—nothing extraordinary, but a solid choice. Cocktails were well-made and enjoyable. The biggest downside was the wait time—our main course took nearly an hour to arrive, despite the restaurant being fairly empty (around 15 customers). Our waitress was friendly and pleasant, but the slow service was frustrating, especially since we were hungry. Overall, a nice spot to try if you have time to spare—just bring good company to keep you entertained while you wait!

We went to Piano Piano for lunch to celebrate our anniversary and it was wonderful. It was surprisingly quiet, which we didn’t mind. Dino was our server and he was really great! They gave us a complimentary glass of Prosecco each at the start which was a really nice surprise. The lunch was delicious from start to finish. The bread they served with the burrata was so good, and the salad was super tasty too. The ravioli while only three pieces, were large in size and very flavourful. The pizza had an airy crust and wasn’t greasy. Dessert and drinks were good too, and we would certainly come back again and would recommend to anyone whos wanted to try it!

We made reservations and enjoyed both the lunch special ($36) and the Winterlicious menu ($34). Our meal included a ½ order of calamari (lunch menu special), burrata, egg yolk ravioli, Fun Guy pizza, soft serve ice cream, and lemon cheesecake—all for just $70! Every dish was well-prepared and enjoyable. The lemon cheesecake portion was particularly generous, which was a nice surprise at the end of a full meal. As another reviewer mentioned, the pizza was a bit tricky to pick up, but it was still delicious. Service was mostly great—our server and hostess were lovely. However, one of the food runners seemed confused and attempted to serve us a main course while our untouched appetizers were still in front of us. It actually belonged to the table beside us, and it took corrections from our server, ourselves, and the other table before the mix-up was resolved. Despite that small hiccup, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely return!

The place has a very intimate and beautiful atmosphere. We were shortly seated and brought our selection in a fast and efficient amount of time. I was a bit floored when I found out they charge eight dollars for water because it is usually free in other establishments. The pasta we ordered was absolutely astounding. The shrimp cocktail we got as an appetizer was delicious, even down to the sauce and coleslaw underneath it. I believe it was a bit overpriced to give just four shrimp for the price it was. Altogether it was a great experience. The staff was very friendly, and the food came in a timely matter. We got one appetizer and two entrées and a drink each and the total came to about $124 before tip. Definitely will be coming back.

Came here with a big group and PianoPiano made our whole experience 10/10. The staff made family style recommendations and everything was delicious. We got to try so many amazing dishes. They took extra consideration for our guests with dietary restrictions or allergies. They also accommodated us short notice which was much appreciated. Looking forward to my next visit.

Yelp
I was lucky enough to experience this restaurant during a wedding. This was truly the best wedding food I've ever had. And the wait staff was so lovely and accommodating. Can't wait to come back here.

Yelp
Food was pretty good. The menu has a nice variety. The service was lovely and the restaurant had a great low lit vibe. Good for a date. The restaurant plays nice music in the background. They carry Lambrusco which was a nice treat, it was good!! You cannot find Lambrusco at all Italian restaurants. Neighborhood was questionable in certain spots, unfortunately there were addicts on nearby corners.

Yelp
3.6/5 Still don't understand all the hypes of this place. I been here and other location multiple times but was never impressed with their food. They aren't bad but also not great either. Ambiance is always good and drinks are fine though. Service can be up and down depending on location. This location has the most consistent service.

Yelp
Perfect for date night out, family dinner ! We ordered the steak for 2 people, which is around 90 dollars. It also comes with (huge) baked potatoes. The portion was enough for 2 of us. The steak is 20 OZ and tastes a little bit salty for me. The service is great. From the hostess to the server, everyone was friendly.

Yelp
My friends and I went here for winterlicious and we were very pleased with the experience! The decor and lighting give off a romantic and intimate vibe yet inviting due to the open space concept. The service was good. And lastly, the food was delicious and a generous portion! I got their special cocktail (72 and sunny) - earthy yet refreshing. The appetizer (burrata al campagnolo) was my favourite - the bread was toasted to perfection! The roasted grapes, garlic, and cheese combo was pure delight and there was mouthgasm with each bite. The chicken piccatta was ok - I wish there was a carb, not counting the breading. The Nutella tiramisu was yummy! A perfect balance of sweet and bitter and cream! Definitely a big bang for your buck and worthy of a visit winterlicious/summerlicious or not.

Yelp
I made a last-minute reservation for a weekend night, and it was a pretty good visit. We had a great and isolated spot to ourselves by the window, and overall, we just had a lovely time. Our server was so considerate and attentive (always checking if we needed more wine), and our meals were fantastic. The only downfall was we waited quite some time for our main dishes, it was almost an hour later when it arrived. Once the entrees reached our table, they were just great. I absolutely adored the Egg Yolk Ravioli and their house chardonnay, the 2020 Piano Piano x Tawse. Piano Piano is slowly becoming my go-to spot for intimate conversations between friends and flirty first dates, but I would be wary to visit if you have limited time to dine.

Yelp
My best restaurant and food experience during my short trip to Toronto! I recommend putting it on your must-eat list. It's cozy and comfortable, full of friendly people, and the service is quick (almost *too* quick...like they want us to get up and get out asap). My friend and I sat at the bar, and the bartender was great; we also had a couple of wines from a great wine list. Very knowledgeable bartender. I had this amazing ravioli in beef ragu sauce, and my friend had the gnocchi - rich with browned butter. We were stuffed, so we opted to take the carrot cake to-go; and it was amazing 3 hours later, in bed, while watching TV.

Yelp
Came here for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend. The concept and uniqueness of the business is what captivated me into coming here. We ordered the calamari, the veal and the Rigatoni & Meatballs and to end off with the tiramisu. All the dishes were good. I especially loved the tiramisu it's as authentic as the one I had in Italy. Service was good and attentive. Our server actually advised us not to order more cause the portion were huge. And we thanked him for being honest!

Yelp
service, atmosphere, food and price were all great. Everything about this place is great. I would reccomend this place for a large gathering and going for lunch, their lunch special is worth every penny. GO!

Yelp
This is my first time here at this location and attended for a work social. We made reservations but still had to wait 30 mins for our table, apparently, they guests before us wouldn't leave! We had a set menu and had to meet a minimum spend. I have to say that they were not great at accommodating for dietary restrictions. I am not vegan but someone was and they had extremely limited options. As for the food, overall it was decent but nothing spetacular. I did see the staff haul in some of their frozen pizzas, which I assume was to heat up and not made fresh at this location. I do have to applaud their octopus dish, it was tend and flavourful! Their zero proof drink options (2 decent ones) were also limited which was surprising because a few of us wanted to try other zero proof cocktails. I would probably skip this place if you're looking for authentic Italian; you will not get there here.

Yelp
Had a really nice dinner at piano piano. The egg yolk ravioli was really amazing. The butter was rich, and the egg yolk in the ravioli broke open like an egg yolk does. Don't know what it is about the rupture of a yolk that is so satisfying. The bread was perfect for soaking up the yolk and the butter around the two massive ravioli. The other dishes were good as well. The portions were generous and the appetizers were great for sharing.

Yelp
Creative and visually attractive food and large portions! This place gets busy even at 5:00 pm during the week. They take reservations. I sat at the bar and had a great time. The food service was a little slow (by American standards) but the bartender Alex keep the drinks flowing and we had fun. Alex made an off menu cocktail with rose water, gin and Elderflower liquor that was fantastic. The children piccata was two large breasts with salad on top and delicious. Enough for two persons. The Fun Guy mushroom pizza was excellent. Rich, very cheesy and a nice chewy wood fired dough (900 degrees style). The carrot cake was a huge piece more than enough for two persons and had a waffle cone with vanilla ice cream on it. Two deserts in one My only question is the place is called piano piano but I didn't see any pianos

Yelp
I have been looking forward to trying this place since I first passed by its chic painted exterior. The interior is even more contemporary than the outside, the walls are all beautifully designed with a different theme. The bar had this curved wall feature that extended to the ceiling, wow! This immediately set the expectations high for some nicely plated food. My one issue is with the menu, it was designed to look like a newspaper and made the items rather difficult to find, they were also quite beat up and ripped. Thankfully the food was not as raggedy as their menu. Burrata Con Funghi The burrata was amazing! It is one of my favourite cheese: not funky, tough on the outside, soft on the inside (just like me). The creaminess of the burrata enhanced the flavour surround it: the balsamic, olive oil, garlic and hazelnuts, mmmmm. There was also a good blend of textures: cheese, nuts, bread. The focaccia, was also amazing. Light fluffy and crispy on the outside, can't wait to come back for some more bread. Would recommend this dish. Egg Yolk Ravioli Was intrigued by the egg yolk ravioli from all the reviews here. How do they cook the ravioli without fully cooking the egg yolk? Careful attention must be paid to cooking the ravioli, especially with a shallow pot of water. The stuffing was heavy especially with the brown butter on it. Most of the ravioli was cooked, only the edges were undercooked. Nice to try, but I would not recommend especially if you don't like heavy foods. On the plus side, got some more focaccia to soak up that brown butter goodness. Roasted Sea Bass I thought there was only one way to eat sea bass (steamed) until I had this. They grilled and seasoned this fish to perfection. Bonus, served with some clams with basil and some tomato sauce. Fish was cooked just right, not over cooked. Skin was not charred but crispy well done. Would recommend. Piano Piano Spritz A welcome, refreshing drink. A bit sour for my liking. Would recommend to begin the meal, but not during the meal. The restaurant, the meal, the service was all very good. Definitely recommend, and I am looking forward to coming back! The veal parm looked good and huge, looking to get that next time!

Yelp
Amazing. While traveling, it's rare for me to visit a restaurant twice. But we loved Piano Piano so much, we came twice, and maybe would have even come a third time. To begin, the exterior is gorgeous. The vibes immediately make you happy when you're not even in the building yet. You can't fake style. Learning that Toronto's food scene was so advanced meant that reservations are a must. We appreciated that Piano Piano had an easy app reservation experience and we had no issues getting a table. I'm still dreaming about the cavatelli and meatballs and the chicken picatta. The cavatelli (I believe) was homemade and the sauce nailed it (nothing is worse than an Italian spot with unsatisfying sauce). The picatta had a strong lemon flavor that made me want more! I can't say enough good things about the service, excellent drinks and fab menu. We never ate one thing that was bad. Our servers were really happy to chat with us about the restaurant, the neighborhood, and their favorite menu items. Truly, both of our visits to Piano Piano were sheer delights. Whether you want an upscale dinner date place, or just indisputably good food with friends, this is your place. This was a standout dining experience for us in Toronto. Pro-tip: get a side of meatballs. They just make everything better!

Yelp
Finally checked off this restaurant after many years. I heard many things about their egg yolk ravioli, and maybe I was expecting too much? I visited for lunch during their winterlicious promo, which comes with an appetizer, pasta or pizza & dessert. My friend and I ordered different items so we can try many dishes. We started with Burrata Con Funghi & calamari, both really good, burrata was light and refreshing and the Calamari was perfect. Moving to the 2nd course we got the egg yolk ravioli and sweet hornet pizza; sweet and savoury pizza was on point. The egg yolk pasta was somewhat healthy and not as heavy as it looked, but def too much for one person. I found a piece of plastic in the ravioli right when the server was checking in on us ... she handled it well by offering to send dish back/ adjusting bill. Lastly, we were too full for dessert and decided to do take out Nutella tiramisu; not too sweet and didn't taste the Nutella. Overall would come back for the pizza and try other pasta dishes.

Yelp
Decided to give Piano Piano a try with their lunch special! Comes with an App, a choice of pizza/pasta & a dessert for $34, it was a steal! Considering one pasta dish is about $26 Anyways, we enjoyed the prosciutto. Parts of the calamari were too salty imo. Then the Alla vodka pasta & mushroom pasta, vodka was really good but the mushroom was again, salty. Followed by the dessert, the tiramisu was decent, & the chocolate caramel was an extra $5. As for the service, it started off well. But before we were even done with dessert, the server just place the bill on the table & it wasn't even time to leave yet. Isn't the normal thing to do is to ask if we would like the bill first? Regardless, I brushed it off & asked for a separate bill. The incident that disappointed me the most is when I left the restaurant. After ONLY 3 minutes, I realized I accidentally left my takeout box on the table. I quickly went back to get it but unfortunately, they already threw it out! All they offered was an apology & a smile...

Yelp
2.5/5 stars I really wanted to like this restaurant! However, it didn't meet my expectations unfortunately. After talking to a few friends, this place is a hit or miss. I guess when I went it was a miss for me. Overall, service was great and efficient. Our server was friendly and brought out food in a timely manner. I went here for my friend's birthday and we shared 4 dishes and one birthday dessert: Calamari $12 - I did like the crispy texture and soft calamari piece inside the breading. The dipping sauce was fine as well but I overall found this appetizer salty. Burrata with Roasted Grapes $19 - the burrata needed some more seasoning/salt or olive oil/balsamic maybe? It was very bland on its own or with the bread. The only thing that made it better were the roasted grapes. It brought sweetness to the dish and saved it by adding more flavour. An interesting combination that I've never thought of since I'm used to eating it with tomatoes! Egg Yolk Ravioli $26 - I was very disappointed in this dish because it was the most anticipated one for my friend and I! Honestly the pieces came bigger than expected compared to the photos I saw online, but it was not worth $26+tax for this dish because it wasn't very filling for me in my opinion. We were also expecting the egg yolk to be runny but it was overcooked which made the ravioli itself a little dry. It was also salty and I found myself drinking a lot of water that night. Mushroom Truffle Cavatelli $26 - I normally like my pasta dishes al dente, but the pasta noodles were more firmer than that. This dish would be much better if the pasta was cooked a little longer. Sauce was decent, but could use a little more mushrooms for $26... Dessert: Tiramisu $12 - tasted mediocre. I'd say store bought tiramisu is the same or maybe better. Overall - dishes were either bland or too salty. Not worth the price point. I rather spend this money at better Italian restaurants. Service was wonderful though! And the interior was really nice inside.

Yelp
It was a wonderful catch -up / reunion with a few friends after 8 months of being away. We were seated straight away for being 20 minutes early for our reservation. Oddly the server did not ask my gf and I if we wanted to grab a drink while we waited for the rest of the party to arrive. It was about 15 minutes in when the server finally asked us for our drink orders. Our group ordered the Summerlicious menu - $45 per person 1. Any appetizer of your choice 2. Any pasta or pizza of your choice 3. Any dessert of your choice, however the carrot cake must be ordered and shared among for two persons Surprisingly the plates were large and we had to pack up a lot of food to take home. So for $45/pp it was very well worth it. We shared everything which was wonderful so we could try a bit of everything. We didn't really liked the pasta very much as it was too starchy. The pizzas were very tasty even for the following day. Overall we were quite impressed with the Summerlicious menu and I totally recommend it.

Yelp
Piano piano was fine. I had the Hot Rod pizza and it was okay. Super cute restaurant tho but our waiter sucked. He was making us really uncomfortable and was flirting with the table next to ours. We had to reach out to some of the other staff to get our check and to go boxes because he never came to check on us. We even considered not leaving a tip.

Moose C.

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful and is a great ambiance to hang out, go on a date, or catch up with friends. The food was good but I found that for the price it was a bit high. The croquettes were yummy!! I found the pasta to be a bit chewy, but overall okay

Leslie C.

Yelp
If you want to have a casual yet fancy meal, this place is for you. It is a bit on the pricier side, but to me, with the service being on point and the quality of the dishes, ever dollar was worth it. My friend and I did the dinner special, and got to try several dishes, and none of them disappointed. There are times when the flavour weighs down with each bite of the meal. Not here. I had to take a pause of each bite to pause and hold onto that moment of deliciousness. I also thought it was a typical carrot cake for dessert...it wasn't. That cake came from the heavens. It was rich but not overly sweet and was the perfect dish to end the meal with.

Yelp
Location looked very nice and clean, staff was friendly enough and food tasted amazing!!! I went here for a friends bday and it did not disappoint it is however super pricey for the portion sizes! Very flavourful pasta, the appetizers of the brussel sprouts and calamari were also very tasty! I would recommend for a special occasion dinner when you are willing to splurge! The women's washroom was very tiny, two very tight stalls that are not accessible for everyone as they are down a staircase.
google avatar

Yelp
I went to piano piano during their summerlicious special. A lot of people have recommended this place and it was my first time trying it. I would agree with all of the positive reviews. This place is amazing! I order the chopped salad and Tortelli Con Bolognese with Nutella Tiramisu and Lemon Cheesecake. Tasted amazing !!!
google avatar

Calista P.

Yelp
I found that the food was decent. Not terrible but wasn't mind blowing. My personal faves were the Brussels sprouts and the spicy clams which had a piece of bread in the middle that soaked up all the yummy sauce. The service was just okay, they were very very inattentive considering it was not busy when I went.

Yelp
Ordered delivery from this venue. The Hot Rod: The pizza crust was nice and fluffy, and they were generous on topping. Unfortunately, the body of the pizza was flimsy. Would probably not order it again for take out/ delivery but if I was in the area, I wouldn't mind giving it another try.

Yelp
After many attempts to visit, I'm so happy that we got to celebrate a bachelorette dinner at Piano Piano. I wish we got our server's name but he was so pleasant and friendly the whole night. We were also greeted with champagne and got a nice cozy corner for our group of 5. For starters, we shared the calamari fritti, burrata alla campangnolo and the fun guy pizza. The calamari was the best I've ever had, I'm still so mind blown to this day. The roasted grapes was something unique and it flowed so well with the burrata. I had the mushroom cavatelli and it was very rich in flavour. Would highly recommend this dish. Can't wait to go back and try their rigatoni carbonara.
google avatar

Mitchell L.

Yelp
We came for the summerlicious menu and it was very worth it! While most summerlicious menu's only have a select choice of items, Piano Piano has their full menu open. For starters, we ordered the burrata pomodoro, the calamari fritti, the spicy manilla clams, and the prosciutto crudo. For the mains, we ordered the mushroom cavatelli, rigatoni & meatballs, and egg yolk ravioli. And finally, for dessert, we ordered the Nutella tiramisu and chocolate caramel budino. Honestly, all the dishes were fantastic! However, what really blew us away (in a good way) were the portions. By the time we had finished the starters we were already getting full. However, as the mains arrived, there was no way we were not finishing them. The Nutella tiramisu was amazing although we found the chocolate caramel budino to be a bit heavy (almost like a fudge). The atmosphere of the place is also unique - an interesting mixture of classy and hipster! However, despite its elevated appearance, this is the most delicious, comforting Italian fare. Overall, we had a fantastic experience at Piano Piano. It was our first time there and we enjoyed everything about it - from the food to the service and the ambience. A repeat for sure.

Yelp
Never seen a restaurant of that space at full capacity, it is not a result of an accidental occurrence! Paino piano has a very lovely ambiance, perfect for all occasions. The food was incredible, and the all of the ingredients were of high quality. It is very evident the Chefs do not cut corners, and are really craft each dish to perfection. We started our visit with calamari and burrata, which were both delightful. The calamari came with a great sauce on the size, and the burrata was served with spectacular toasted bread and fresh grapes. My main consisted of the infamous ravioli, which did not disappoint. As a pasta fanatic, let me tell you that two pieces were more than enough!! My partner got the veal which outdid some of thr top restaurants we tried in the past. We finished the meal by splitting a tiramisu which was primarily consumed by me, as it was simply heavenly. Moreover, the service and attentiveness we received during our visit was great, and everyone were extremely pleasant and courteous. I am most definitely coming back here again. This is one of the very few restaurants that truly lives up to the hype and attention received on social media. Bravo

Yelp
The first time I went to Piano Piano was three years ago for a dinner pre-pandemic with friends. We ordered a charcuterie board, pasta, and pizza to share. I recall the excellent service; although pricier ($$-$$$), it was worth the experience. Today, we ordered delivery via Uber Eats. We chose the mushroom cavatelli and canestri alla vodka. When it arrived, it was well packaged, and the presentation was as if we were at the restaurant. The first bite of the cavatelli was full of umami from the truffle scented oyster mushrooms. The only downfall was that it was slightly salty. The canestri was subtlety spicy but was delicious. We found the two pasta dishes were enough for the two of us. We would eat at Piano Piano again, but wouldn't do so regularly as it is on the pricier side.

Trinh N.

Yelp
My friends and I came here for lunch and it was an ok experience. The restaurant is really cute and has a nice ambience. The customer service was ok. All three of us went for the lunch special which was $34 for an app, a pasta or pizza and dessert, which was tiramisu or ice cream. Appetizers: - calamari: the best dish we had. It was light and tender. Wish it was a bit more crunchy - prosciutto: good but too salty. The honey and grapes added a nice touch bug wish it came with bread or something - burrata: nothing special about it, the mushrooms in the dish were weirdly sour Pizza/pasta: - canestri alla vodka: decent, pasta was too al dente - mushroom cavatelli: yummy for the first few bites, pasta was even more al dente than the vodka one. After some time, the pasta became bitter - hot rod pizza: not bad but its super thin like paper Dessert: - we all got the tiramisu which was yummy

Yelp
Beautiful room, great service, great food - multiple visits and they never fail to impress. Probably the best pizza in Toronto - chef Victor Barry's brainchild is now all over the city and Toronto is better for it.

Yelp
Cute spot for a lunch date, has nice vibes and good service. Overall pricier, but it's a better deal if you order the lunch special, where you can choose your own appetizer and a pizza or pasta, plus a dessert. The portions are great for sharing, or makes a bigger lunch if you don't want to share. Food was decent, but there wasn't anything specific that really stood out. Weekend lunchtimes are busy, make a reservation ahead of time!

Yelp
I've known about this place foreeeever, and finally got to try it out because its one of the few spots that are open on Mondays/Tuesdays when most restaurants are closed. We had a light girls dinner for 2. Which consisted of: Chopped Salad: This had salami, olives, feta, brussel sprouts, polenta and more. They went pretty light with the salami, I'm pretty sure I only had like 1-2 pieces. I also feel like there was waaay to much going on there and all the flavors didn't complement each other well. Burrata: It was accompanied by roasted grapes topped off with salt and served with toast. I actually found the flavours to be too bland. There wasn't enough depth in the accompaniments. The roasted grapes were a nice touch however roasting it, brought out more sweetness and I felt like there needed to be more savoury. Egg Yolk Raviolo: This was good. The spinach and ricotta filling worked well with each other. The parmigiano added saltiness and the brown butter added richness. This is my second time having something similar and I must say this is much MUCH better than the one I had at Stock T.C I'll probably be back and try a few other staple items from their menu. But I would say 1/3 items I ordered this time were good. I also loved their interior, and the menu in the format of a newspaper was super creative! What other dishes would you recommend here?

Yelp
I've been to this place for dinner and for lunch and both were excellent - both the food and the service were excellent. The room is pleasant but nothing too "wow". The price for the lunch was very reasonable and the portions weren't skimpy.

Yelp
Went during summerlicious. Pretty good value and everything we had was tasty. Memorable dishes were the mushroom Cavatelli, calamari, and tiramisu.

Yelp
Went here for my birthday after hearing a lot of good things about it. When I say that the fantastic reviews were under selling it, I truly mean that. We ordered the baby gem Cesar salad and burrata pomodoro to start and the Hawaiian pizza, Fun Guy pizza, mushroom cavatelli, tortelli con bolognese, and canestri alla vodka for mains, followed by carrot cake, Nutella tiramisu, and lemon cheesecake for dessert. The second I tried the focaccia bread I literally teared up. If someone told me I could only have bread and water for the rest of my life I would be totally cool with that as long as it was this bread. All the food was absolutely amazing; the crust was cooked to perfection on the pizzas and the sauces were perfectly seasoned atop al dente pastas. The desserts were a perfect mixture of tasty and attractive. The service was impeccable and timely. When they brought over my dessert (sparkler included) our server noticed one of my friends was missing and came back 10 minutes later with a new sparkler for us to sing again saying "your friend missed it and I thought she looked disappointed that she had". The experience was all around one of the best I've had at any restaurant I've ever been to. If I could add another star I would.

Yelp
I've had Piano Piano on my list of restaurants to visit for a while now. Didn't realize they had a location on Oakville, and even more pleasantly surprised with how cute the patio is! Nicely distanced apart from other tables if you're not comfortable with indoor dining just yet. The service was great, refilling our water often and recommending other alternative dishes when they were out of a dish. Brussel sprouts and calamari were delicious. Definitely a smaller portion with the calamari so it was recommended that we order 2 appetizers, and I'm glad we did. Highly recommend the pizza because it was delicious, both hot and as leftover cold pizza.

Yelp
In Italy, la famiglia is everything. Just like every family, food brings out the best of people, a lot of food means the very best. Piano Piano truly embodies la famiglia in every sense - Long tables to accommodate big groups, good selection of wine and copious amount of food - Since we were a group of 10, we decided to go for the family style menu. Started with the antipasti (selection of cured meats, cheeses, and preserves) and was warned by the server not to overstuffed ourselves. Any leftovers can be packed back. Wished we had followed that advise. For antipasti we had chopped salad and calamari. Calamari did not disappoint, it was hot and fresh. But the chopped salad was something else. The salad was a clever combination of sweet, savory and crunch - the honey balsamic glazed salami gave it the sweetness, olives and feta the savory and crispy polenta the crunch. By the time the pizza and pasta came, we were already pretty stuffed. Did I not mention, dinner was just starting. The mains had not even been served. For the mains, we were served veal parmigiano and pan-seared seabass. The veal was good but loss some of its crunch and crispiness by the time it came to the table. The sauce must have been left on too long and the crunchy exterior had soaked it all up. The seabass tho was cooked to perfection. Moist on the inside with a crispy skin on the outside. The salsa dressing with capers paired really well with the fish. Desserts came shortly after. Lemon cheesecake and Nutella tiramisu. Perfect finish for a hearty meal. We ended up with lots of food to pack back home for the next few days.

Yelp
I had a disappointing experience with Piano Piano. Decided to come here with my friend super last minute around 7:45 to see if there were any available tables. We did see online that there were AVAILABLE spots for reservations for 8:30 and after, but we were in the area and decided to come earlier just in case. Once we arrived, the hostess tells us that they're all booked for the night and that they don't have any available tables. I ask her about the 8:30 reservation time and she says "there may be a table, but there's no way of knowing if there will actually be one," which was quite confusing because I thought that's the whole point of a reservation. Anyways, we then ask her if they do delivery services so that we could just order it home and she says that they don't do delivery after 6 pm on weekends. Basically, we get home and we see the other piano piano location on Uber eats and Decide to order a "dinner for 2." But long story short, our order was completely wrong and we didn't get the things we ordered. My name was written on the order but the food was just incorrect--not sure what happened here. I'm still willing to try this place in person, maybe the service and food will be better next time. It just didn't meet my expectations the first time around.

Yelp
A very mid (as the kids say) dinner at Piano Piano tonight. High points: solstice spritz cocktail was refreshing and well portioned. Burrata pomodoro was a standout appetizer and the calamari was tender and hot. Low points: mains we underdone. eggplant needed more time and more flavor (maybe just a little more s and p?). Mushrooms cavatelli had almost no mushrooms and the pasta was too aldente. Service was friendly, if a little inattentive. Not terrible. But we didn't feel special, and who doesn't want a little special when they go out. Piano Piano needs to up their game if they want me back for another visit. Sorry.

Yelp
Picture-perfect restaurant! Although the area where the restaurant is located is a bit run down, the restaurant both outside and inside was beautifully decorated. Came here yesterday with my colleagues for lunch. It was a bit far to get to but luckily 7 of us could fit into one Uber ride. The menu selection was wonderful which included a variety of appetizers, pizza, pasta and mains. Most of us got the Lunch special for $26 which included one appetizer, pizza or pasta and ice cream. That's an amazing deal! I opted for the seabass which was not part of the special deal, trying to make healthier choices since there will be more holiday lunches and dinners for next few weeks. It was prepared nicely but it was just okay. Friendly staff and excellent service!

Yelp
This restaurant is gorgeous with its high ceilings and flower murals. This was my first visit to Piano Piano and I can't believe it took me so long to get here. I started with a cocktail (don't remember what it was called though!) and it was quite good. It was very similar to an old fashioned with some delicious "drunken" cherries as a garnish. For my appetizer, I had the smoked burrata, which was nothing short of outstanding. The silky texture and smoky flavour was such a great combination, and then topped with those pickled grapes... all I can say is YUM!! For my entrée, I had the grilled octopus. This is what I've been looking for! I've been on a bit of a quest to find the best grilled octopus in the city and I think I've found it. The flavours and textures were truly spectacular. Everything was cooked to perfection. The octopus was nice and tender, yet had that nice lightly grilled char on the outside. Even the potatoes were perfect. I'd eat this any day of the week. In fact, I'm already planning a return visit. To finish, I had the tiramisu. It was a bit different than the standard type you'd find but still really nice. The texture was also not as light as others I've tried, it had more of a pudding consistency, so I wonder how they made it. Still very tasty. Service was great, very helpful and attentive when we had questions and provided excellent recommendations. In summary, I really enjoyed my meal here and can't wait to go back. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I waited 2 weeks before making this post as I private messaged piano piano with no reply. All I want to do give you some feedback but I guess I'm not important. You were always on my to go list and I decided to dine on my own today. Made a reservation and arrived on time. Table was not ready until few mins later. Sat down with no attention for 10 mins. Finally made eye contact with server and he came over. Ordered sunmerlicious with a cocktail. First the drink looks half full, then the calamari looks half eaten and 1/4 of the size of my friend who came last week. Pasta was just dropped off at my table and nobody ever cleaned my plates off. Then without even asking me for another drink he just asked if I can bring the bill. Honestly being a top restaurant I expected a lot more. Both service and food was below my expectation and nobody even paid any attention to me. Very disappointing...

Yelp
The decor in this restaurant is BEAUTIFUL. Both the interior and exterior are so pleasant to look at! I was disappointed this dish came with a single ravioli, and was glad that me and my friend had decided to shared our plates. The food is decent and I appreciate how they didn't overcook the pasta (al dente). A bit on the more expensive side though!

Yelp
It's a cute little place inside, the decor is nice and the back patio is very cozy. The service was also very fast and friendly, especially for it being the first day indoor dining opened up in Ontario. We ended up ordering the Mushroom Cavatelli pasta and the Sea Bass, the sea bass was very delicate and flavourful, but I found the pasta to be average, the sauce was good but it didn't meet my expectations for this kind of dish, and it was very pricey for what it was compared to other great Italian places in Toronto.

Yelp
Can't say I was super impressed. Went last weekend for brunch with friends expecting a more high end experience and service was really slow. We all ordered their lunch special so it was $24 for an appetizer, main (pizza or pasta) and scoop of ice cream. I had the calamari, hot rod pizza and americano for dessert. They had some issue with the ice cream so allowed either a cookie or coffee substitute. For coffee you could only get espresso or americano. Latte was $3 extra. Calamari was good and hot rod pizza was also okay... very flat and is burnt at bottom (I dont really mind this style but it does not wow). Meanwhile, one of my friends had the garlic bread which is like a pizza and very oily so dont order this with another pizza main dish cause it's like the same thing. Lol. The mushroom pasta dish is actually pretty good, tried a friends and wished I ordered that instead of pizza. What really pulled it down for me is the service. Like the server was fine not rude but he was slow. Never really checked up on us. We had to continually ask for more water. We ordered coffee and never received it till end of meal and we had to remind him. We also said we would do coffee as our dessert but he asked if we would like cookies all around so we got confused and had to clarify with him. He was planning to charge us for either coffee or cookie and use the other as a substitute for dessert. It was just weird and luckily a friend asked to clarify. Server ended up giving us complimentary cookie. Side note: I really dislike their coffee service. For example, miniature cup handle you cannot properly hold cups as they are too small to fit even a finger in. When I requested milk and sugar, I was not given sugar cubes but sugar packets. Sorry but little things like this I do pay attention to. Overall, I thought it was suppose to be a bit fancier so my expectations of service were a smidge higher. I would not come here for special occasions or dates but maybe if anything a casual lunch spot with friends. One of my friends said this about their experience, "it feels a bit rough around the edges" which is very apt and also my impression as well.
