My daughters took me to Piatti in La Jolla for my birthday while visiting San Diego. The service was very good and the staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, and the have a very nice outdoor seatings as well. The food was mostly very good, but I ordered Vesuvio and it was a bit on the salty side. The prices are a bit high, but for San Diego, it felt fair. I would go back again.

Such a lovely setting, and a charming patio. The food was delicious and well prepared and paired well with refreshing drinks. Friendly service and relaxing ambiance.

Google
A perfect dinner spot after a walk in La Jolla! Everything about this Italian restaurant was top-notch - from the elegant atmosphere with crisp white tablecloths to the warm and attentive service. The food was absolutely delicious - every dish full of flavor and beautifully presented. We came for dinner after a lovely walk through La Jolla, and it was the perfect way to end the evening. Highly recommend!

Elegant, quiet, consistent, prices that are acceptable. Piattis doesn't ever dissapoint. The handmade raviolis were absolutely amazing. Service was on point. I'm inspired by spaces like this that are an easy blend of comfortable and classy @healing-ground.online

Great place, loved the food paired with wine, and our server Cesar was awesome. We ordered the Bruschetta and Papardelle. It's a bit on the pricey side.

Absolutely fabulous dinner. Dined outside in the back patio. The bread with dipping oil was a great start and I had to control myself as I was starving. My party of three had drinks, then shared bruschetta and the beet salad. Our entrees were all delicious. My lemon ravioli was perfect for the lemon lover in me (and the vegetarian). For dessert the affrogato was the perfect ending. Service was spectacular. Even extraordinary. They went out of their way to find out of the cheese they use in the beet dish (grana padana) was vegetarian (it likely wasn't but head chef was off for the night and all cheese was grated or sliced off the wheel). However it was obvious that was the only cheese so I ate small amounts and pretended it was ok to eat, and I was fine. All staff was super attentive. The only downside was the very loud and getting more inebriated party of six that was seated beside us during our appetizer. Throughout the dinner, they were quite loud, ignoring the glances of other guests. If you were the party of six middle age adults celebrating a birthday that evening, we really didn't need to hear your conversations in their entirety (to the extent we often couldn't hear our own), nor was it comfortable to have your drop in guests standing right by our tables, all still quite loud. (Fortunately we were reseated so we could enjoy our desserts in relative peace.) I highly recommend Piatti's and have every intention of going back. I'm still dreaming of the lemon ravioli and the affrogato! I know most guests are responsible and respectful. (Sadly we were enjoying the evening so much, we only remembered to take snaps of our drinks and toast!)

Service was good, atmosphere was real nice. Most of the food was pretty good, however there were a few things that were off. First, the bread is not complimentary. So when they offer another couple loaves, be wary that they'll be extra. The lemon Bar dessert was pretty subpar for the establishment. Tasted heavily of coconut and very little lemon. Overall decent experience, but for the price, I expected a bit more.

Google
I recently dined at Piatti, and unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. From the moment we sat down, the service was slow and unorganized. After placing our order, it took 50 minutes for our food to arrive, which was extremely frustrating. To make matters worse, several tables that were seated after us received their meals before we did, leaving us wondering what was going on in the kitchen aside from them burning our food. The only saving grace of the evening was the busboy, who was attentive and friendly. He kept our water glasses filled and checked in on us far more frequently than our actual server. Without his help, the experience would have been even worse. Because of his excellent service, I’m giving this place two stars instead of just one. On top of the poor service, there were unexpected charges that left a bad taste in our mouths. We were charged an extra $3 for a small side of marinara sauce to pair with our calamari order and another $3 for soda water. At no point were we informed that these items came with an additional cost, which felt like a sneaky way to nickel-and-dime customers. For a restaurant that claims to be a quality Italian establishment, these kinds of surprises are unacceptable. With so many other great Italian restaurants in the area, I won’t be returning here. The long wait, inattentive service, and hidden fees made for a frustrating dining experience, and there are far better options out there that provide both better service and transparency.

Yelp
This place is FANTASTIC. The food is 5 stars all the way. It's my most favorite restaurant. I ordered the Shrimp Pappardelle with saffron and substituted gluten-free pasta. Just perfect, absolutely a well prepared and tasteful entrée. My husband and I split Mista Salad with lemon vinaigrette as our appetizer. Such a flavorful delightful dressing! My husband ordered the Seafood vDi Mare and he really loved it; lots of seafood carefully prepared. I had Spumoni Gelato for dessert, which is my favorite, and my husband had the Pumpkin seasonal cheesecake that had a surprisingly wonderful pumpkin flavor. Piatti is the bomb! Chef Pepe is clearly the very best in San Diego! If you are hesitating going to this restaurant, the only drawback is the parking. You're going to have to hunt around for a space and/or take an Uber, BUT it is worth every little tiny inconvenience to go there. There isn't any place I've been that was better than this, hands down. Service was excellent as well. Just go!

Yelp
Piatti has a lovely setting with delicious food and excellent service. However, despite how pleasant that may sound, our recent experience could have been better. We had a reservation for three guests but were seated at a table meant for two, with a hastily added third chair. Needless to say, the table was crowded. Plates, drinks, and food had to be shuffled around constantly just to make room for our entrées. This alone might not have prompted me to leave a review, but what followed certainly did. The next day, I realized I had been charged for an extra glass of wine. When I called to bring this to management's attention, I was met with a series of questions about my receipt--far too many to detail here--and not once did I receive an apology. My request for a $14 refund couldn't be addressed quickly, and it seemed to inconvenience the manager. I was even told that the waitress would need to confirm whether a second glass had been poured. At that point, I decided to handle the refund with my credit card company instead. I would like to clarify that our waitress was wonderful and attentive; none of this reflects on her service. Give this place a try and decide for yourself, but as for me, it's all about the food, setting, and service. It's not about the $14--though it apparently is for the restaurant. For me, it's the principle. Charles, this could have been handled professionally.

Yelp
Pretty spot, but just an okay experience We had high hopes for Piatti's, it's such a cute spot in La Jolla and has a nice atmosphere. We ordered the saffron pappardelle (shrimp was rubbery), seafood linguine, beef carpaccio, calamari and Caesar salad. Good wine selection, beer selection was minimal. Everything was fine, but nothing really stood out. The flavors were a bit flat, the night prior we had dinner at Brigantine San Diego, and that was memorable! Great variety! It was worth the drive. Piazzi is close by, so it was convenient. The service at Piatti was meh, not very attentive, we asked for cracked black pepper, server handed us the shaker and we had to ask for the pepper grinder. She made it awkward, like she's thinks she's working at McDonald's or Taco Bell to hand us the shakers. Then kind of hesitated when I asked for the grinder, I offered to do it myself that's how awkward it was. Though she offered it to other tables. Overall, it wasn't bad, just not as memorable as I hoped. There are so many great places in La Jolla, and this one felt a bit average for the area. By the way parking is generally tough in this area. I probably would go back and try the veal next time but would make sure to not get the same server.

Yelp
This Italian restaurant has been a mainstay in the La Jolla Shores business district for nearly 30 years. We used to come to Piatti at least once a year to host a dinner for out-of-town employees. With the pending closure of a stretch of Avenida De La Playa, turning that section into a pedestrian-only walkway will make al fresco dining here more tranquil as they do have multiple tables set up curbside as a parklet. I visited on a weeknight and sat at the bar which was to the left of the hostess stand when you walked in. The main dining room was to the right and was about half occupied at the time. The food menu consisted of one page. Appetizers, salads, pizzas, and entrees were in the left column while the pasta offerings were in the right column. I chose the Herbed Cauliflower Cakes to start my meal. Two thin cakes were grilled and topped with roasted pepper aioli. A bed of arugula was provided on the side. The item was very unique, and I would recommend it to anyone even if you are not a vegetarian. For an entree, I selected the Cavatappi from the pasta section. The noodles resembled elbow macaroni but with a twist to them. Italian sausage, mushrooms, spinach, tomato sauce, and parmesan were the other components to this dish. Roasted potatoes used to also be a part of the mix, but that has been removed. The sausage was flavorful, but the sauce was a bit salty. I think Piatti delivers consistently solid food, but I feel it has been bypassed by newer Italian spots around town that have more creativity and flair in their menus.

Yelp
I chose to dine at Piatti for the last meal of my San Diego trip and it did not disappoint. The staff was attentive and nice, the ambiance was romantic and inviting (I decided to dine on their patio) and the food was amazing. I tried the following: -pappardelle (5/5! Typically served with a meat sauce, I was excited to try the saffron and shrimp rendition of this dish. It was perfectly balance with acidity from the tomato and wine, a touch of cream and the complexity of the saffron. The shrimp were very nicely cooked and complimented the pasta well) -crostata al limone (5/5; super unique and delicious lemon tart with raspberry. Perfectly balanced and oh so good. I'm really glad I took the waiters recommendation to try this dessert) I'm definitely glad I decided to try Piatti and I will certainly return the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
The outdoor patio was super cozy and the perfect temperature with all of the heaters! My husband and I came with a group to celebrate a birthday and we had a lot of fun sharing a bunch of pastas. My husband and I ordered the ravioli (pro tip: order half the spinach, basil, ricotta, lemon cream and half the tomato sauce if you want variety!) and the pasta of the day, which was Spaghetti with chicken. The ravioli with the lemon cream was by far my favorite and the spaghetti had a bit of a spicy kick to it.

Yelp
Location is amazing. It's really nice to sit outside and then take a short walk to the beach especially around sunset time! To be honest, the food was a bit underwhelming. Things sounded good on the menu but nothing was memorable and there wasn't much depth of flavor. The sauce for the calamari was extremely salty, salad was a bit over-dressed, bruschetta sauce was good but bread was a bit soggy, and our pasta/ravioli was underwhelming without much flavor for a red sauce & the meatballs in my parents' pasta also looked a bit dry. It was a bit disappointing since it looked really nice but I don't think I would go back.

Yelp
Oh my sooo good! My husband and I had a date night here while we were in town for a wedding. The speciality drink, Fig It About It, was amazing (and quite strong)! We shared the bread and cauliflower cakes- the roasted pepper aioli was chef's kiss. I was obsessed with the mushroom to rotolo! I could that eaten double (jk, but really it was that delicious)!

Yelp
Piatti is my second home. I bring all my visiting family and friends here anytime we go out to eat. It's such an elegant place to spend with your loved ones. The music is always good. Today was especially fantastic, wasn't too busy so we didn't need to make a reservation even though we did. Our food arrived steaming hot and fresh. My favorite is the caesar salad, the anchovies add such a good salty note to the salad it's incredible.

Yelp
This place is absolutely a great spot for dining for brunch, lunch and or dinner. The Menu is seasonal, so everything is fresh and packed with flavor. Ive been here twice now for lunch and everything has been so delicious. The ambience is calm and the atmosphere is quiet and pleasant. The service staff is friendly and attentive. Definitely will be coming back.

Yelp
This spot is quickly becoming one of my favorite Italian places to dine at. We made reservations on a Friday during lunch, but you could easily walk in. Highly recommend sitting in the courtyard. It is beautiful there. We ordered three pastas, and every one was amazing. Would love to come again soon.
google avatar

Yelp
Piatti is a family birthday favorite. We sat in the courtyard which is our favorite place to dine. Quieter than inside and lovely dining under the tree. Service was great, as usual. Food, cocktails and wine were also wonderful. Definitely recommend Piatti

Yelp
We decided to try this Italian restaurant near La Jolla Shores Beach... First of all, the place was much more formal than expected, including linen table cloths. In any case, we ordered their Fried Calamari for starters, then my husband got this Ravioli and I got their Cavatapi pasta...and we loved them all! I was especially impressed with their version of Fried Calamari...which even included Fried Shrimp and Fried Asparagus. Absolutely delicious!! Here are the reasons why I didn't drop 5 stars. I knew they had lunch menu, but they didn't even present that to us...just the dinner menu. Also, the waiter was a bit off, and spilled drink on the table, for one. He didn't offer any bread and butter either...whereas we noticed that another table got the bread. Maybe bread and butter was on the menu for a fee? For such a nice restaurant, I thought the waiter was a bit unpolished. Overall, we enjoyed the meal. Bit pricey for lunch, but then we basically ordered from their dinner menu...and felt like dinner, minus the bread.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the burrata salad with the lemon vinaigrette. The bruschetta was quite good as well. Unfortunately, the pasta dishes weren't quite hitting it for me. The red sauce wasn't thick as I had hoped and savory. Nice patio area especially during sunset!

Yelp
Haven't been in over a decade but the food at Piatti's was just as I remembered...delicious! My 3 yo daughter finished her entire kids pizza and it was NOT the size of a typical kids pizza AND she's an extremely selective eater! Appetizers: Calamari starter was great especially with the fennel. Bruschetta came in 3 prices and was fresh and just the right amount of lemon and garlic. PEI Mussels were fresh and the wine sauce was not overly salty! The Lunch Special was a Mediterranean salad with grilled chicken which was very good. The Rotolo had a VERY heavy mushroom umami flavor so if you're a fan of mushrooms, this is a must order! Dessert: Can't go wrong with dark chocolate and vanilla gelato

Yelp
My partner and I share the notion that "Piatti's will never not be good." It's an extremely reliable spot to eat if you're feeling indecisive for some solid Italian eats. With a pretty extensive menu and larger portion sizes, bring a friend and stay a while. From the handful of times I've visited, I've gotten around to trying a good amount of salads and pastas. The Grilled hearts of romaine is my top pick for salads! It's served along with some prosciutto for saltiness and hazelnut vinaigrette for sweetness. Simply the best way to start off your meal. Of the pastas, I absolutely loveeee their Cannelloni (if you're looking for something heavy and indulgent) and their Cavatappi (if you prefer something on the lighter side). The staff is super attentive and the space is rather spacious with plenty of seating options. Our favorite spot has the be the patio out front- it's perfect for people watching on a sunny afternoon!

Yelp
We were seated without a wait and warmly welcomed by our server, Izzy, who responded to our requests for recommendations on food and wine with the knowledge of a seasoned restraunteer. The food was exceptional as was the overall experience. The home-made past was some of the best we have ever had. The deserts, Budino di mele and Tiramisu, provided a fitting ending to this wonderful meal. If we lived in the area, we would return frequently!
google avatar

Robert W.

Yelp
Lasagna was fantastic. Service was absolutely amazing and AMAZING ambiance. Haven't been in 14 years and was pleased to see that they preserved the tree that we sat under all those times when I was a kid. The bread and balsamic vinegar and olive oil was busssssss and they had some garlic and cilantro in it which brought it to the next level. Will be back when I'm in La Jolla. Post surf dinner would go nuts here.

Yelp
This is a tough one. For food alone, I'd give this place a 5, but I wasn't a fan of the ambiance. Food: We started with the calamari and cauliflower cakes. I absolutely loved the cauliflower cakes. They tasted as flavorful as crab cakes, but very light. The calamari was excellent with shrimp and asparagus as well! For mains, I enjoyed the bolognese with pappardelle. I opted for their homemade noodle instead and it was great. I love that this menu has so many gluten free options, making it a great place to accommodate others with dietary restrictions. I was impressed that they brought out a free tiramisu for my birthday. That was the only part of the meal I actually wasn't as impressed with, but it was a great gesture. Ambiance: Where you sit matters. We opted for inside because it was hot and thankfully, they have the AC going in here, but some of the seating areas are so loud. This is a great place for large groups as they have a lot of round tables to accommodate larger parties. We were a group of three, but we were in an area where we were surrounded by large party tables. Somehow, because of the set up, it just created this overwhelmingly loud environment. My apple watch kept going off with that loud environment warning, so I know I wasn't making it up. By the time I got outside, my ears felt like I'd been at a concert. It was a little tough to have conversations and I'm not sure if it was just where we had been seated. We tried mentioning this to the server, but it was brushed off. For that reason, I don't know if I'd come back or maybe I'd opt for outside seating. Overall, a tasty restaurant and would be great for a large group, but a tough place for conversation.

Yelp
Piatti is a cozy little Italian restaurant that we came to for dinner. The menu was stacked with so many vegetarian and pescatarian options, which was great. The wine selection was also pretty extensive, but they also had a few cocktail options as well. I ended up going for the seafoood linguine with a pinot grigio. We got a cheesecake to share with the table, but it was a bit too lemon/lime-flavored for me personally. Everything otherwise was super fresh and seasoned great - overall a super fulfilling meal, despite it being a bit on the pricier side. The restaurant itself is a bit loud and crowded. Maybe because our group was kind of big and we were seated near the front, it did also feel a bit cramped. Our waiter was also very friendly and handled our big group well, even though he did seem a bit frazzled at times. Definitely not a huge deal and we still had a great time, but something to consider based on the occasion.
google avatar

Sesang Y.

Yelp
Food: 7/10 (except their bread) Service: 9/10 Ambiance: 9/10 This place isn't bad at all, but I do think it's way too overhyped. It's a cute place to for a celebration or a date, but I've definitely had better pastas, but that's just me! My friends love this place hahaha BREAD IS TO DIE FOR

Yelp
When I was recently asked to choose a place for dinner near/in La Jolla Shores, of course I chose Piatti's! Alone the romantic and charming patio with the lights and giant tree make this a special destination. Yet our food was equally special. The jidori chicken breast was a good choice--it was tender and flavorful, and the mushroom pasta dish was equally flavorful. We started with the ciabatta/olive oil/appetizer and thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Piatti's. Their menu is seasonal; in the fall, I always am sure to order their butternut squash ravioli. I've been eating here for many years, and it's always a favorite. Parking in the area can be a challenge when it's busy, so plan accordingly!
google avatar

Lina Y.

Yelp
First off, I would not call this place Italian. I'm native Italian and the food here is not authentic at all. I've lived in La Jolla Shores for years, and Piatti used to be my go-to restaurant. When Tom was the manager, everything ran like clockwork--the food was consistently good, always available, and the service was impeccable. Since his retirement, however, the quality has noticeably declined. Tonight I went in craving mussels, only to be told they were unavailable and offered clams instead, which is an entirely different dish. I settled on the pappardelle, but some of the shrimp tasted off, almost moldy. The service was mediocre, the food uninspired, and I left feeling disappointed. It's frustrating to see a once-great restaurant decline like this.

Yelp
Celebrated a birthday and they made it so personal! They printed out special menus for us, and our server was super attentive. The dipping oil impressed me 7 years ago and coming back now, nothing has changed. Their golden ratio of balsamic vinegar to olive oil, along with herbs and garlic, chef's kiss. Ordered the calamari, beef carpaccio with arugula, linguine, and alfredo. Holy smokes, everything was divine. The pasta was fresh and made in-house. You can tell because al dente was the standard, and everything was perfectly springy. The calamari had superb technique, as the squid was tender and not rubbery. Super light breading gave the right amount of crisp. Paired with the calabrian aioli, mmmm. I don't care for arugula but the beef carpaccio was bright and refreshing. Ugh the pastas stole the show. Really fresh seafood. The ciabatta with the dipping oil, standing ovation. Thank you to the sweet staff at Piatti for making our experience so memorable and special! Tiramisu was SOOOO sublime. Will be back before you know it. Warm ambiance.

Yelp
I was excited to take my family here for dinner as it had been many years since I've been there. I was craving steak and ordered the ribeye. It was extremely disappointing. First of all I couldn't believe how thin the steak was. I couldn't believe how they charred it on the grill. All I could taste in every bite was the grill. I haven't seen a steak served in a restaurant with grill Marks like that since I was in my teens and I'm 45 now . It was also extremely underseasoned and needed way more salt. We make 10 times better steaks than that at home. It was only $50 but I would've gladly have paid $75 and had it been a good steak then $50 for a bad one . My husband ordered the lasagna, which was just OK. My son's pizza was pretty flavorless and he refused to eat it. The best party of the meal was the bread and gelato. The waiter didn't seem too friendly either. He didn't tell ys about the specials or ask any questions about how the meal was. Whereas we could overhear the server next to us going into detail about all the specials for the evening and chatting them up. Overall it was just really disappointing.

Yelp
I made reservations online to celebrate my fiancé's birthday and it was so nice to see the little things they did for his birthday. They did message me prior to our reservation to ask what the name of the person with a birthday and when we got there they had special menus that even said Happy Birthday at the top. The server was really attentive and all the food was really good. We ordered a pizza, salad, mussels, and bread. They spaced out everything so we could enjoy and pace the dinner. Piatti was like a little house and it was super cute and cozy. Parking can be kind of hard if it is busy. We parked in the neighborhood and walked. Thank you Piatti for making the birthday special!

Yelp
Food was nothing great to write about, but not bad. Price was high. Had the pappardelle noodles. Dish was nothing special tasting. Shrimp was good and fresh.

Yelp
A fun cozy spot near the beach. A group of 8 and an easy reservation. The place looks upscale inside and has a friendly atmosphere and host of workers. The dining area is now and it's nice to see paper menus still. We ordered bruschetta which was yummy and bread with an oil based dip. Very tasty. Most of the group ordered and all enjoyed pasta dishes. I had the salmon. It was charred to perfection with a white sauce to add on top. Amazing. The veggies and the potatoes were also great. Washed it down with a non alcoholic cucumber spritz Overall loved it.
google avatar

Lene V.

Yelp
Today my salmon salad was great. Incredibly filling and they put both dressings on the side for me to try. I loved both of them together. My order was actually ready by the time I came to pick it up and the bartender was efficient with the takeout payment. The only thing that I wish they did was take payment over the phone... but I guess they have security issues that won't allow them to

Yelp
I love the Food! Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed dinner. Service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing.

Yelp
This place made me feel so special on my birthday, definitely let them know that it's a special occasion at the time of booking the reservation ! All this food was absolutely delicious!! I don't even know where to start this review but let me give it a shot. 1. my name was printed onto the menus which was so so so sweet 2. our table was set and ready upon our arrival, all the staff were so sweet and wished me happy birthday 3. the interior of this place reminded me of actual restaurants in italy and the vibes were just so good. 4. the food itself was so yummy and all the flavors were on point, pasta was perfectly al dente!!! I heavily recommend the cauliflower cakes, the italian soda, the tiramisu, the pizza, and the ravioli! Check the photos for exact names. 11/10 very very happy I came here for my birthday !!

Yelp
We had a great double date visiting Piatti! We sat in the patio by a big tree and twinkle lights. The service was great, very friendly staff. And the food was great! We loved each dish we got. The bread with their balsamic is a must to pair with all the dishes. Would recommend!

Yelp
I've never left a review before, but this experience at Piatti in La Jolla Shores pushed me to. I stopped in solo -- a younger guy visiting town for a couple of days -- excited for a great Italian meal. The place looked amazing: beautiful space, great vibe, and a menu that had me genuinely stoked. I ordered an $18 Old Fashioned that came out warm, unstirred, and completely off balance -- overly bitter, heavy on the Amaro, and missing the stamped ice cube every other guest at the bar seemed to get. For the price, it felt careless. Sitting there for about ten minutes without touching it, I ordered a small glass of wine that couldn't have been more than 4oz, and a bread and oil appetizer off the menu, which ended up being the highlight of the night. Maybe it was an off night, or maybe being a younger solo guest meant my experience got less attention -- I can't say for sure. I asked the host to speak with a manager, waited around five minutes, and decided to just leave. I wasn't trying to complain -- I genuinely wanted to give constructive feedback because I know everyone has off nights. But even that lack of follow-through said a lot about how the place is run. For such a beautiful restaurant with a great reputation, this visit completely missed the mark in both quality and hospitality

Yelp
Little disappointed, Piatti was so highly recommended and reviewed. From someone who grew up on in New England, the food was really no better than the average Italian or Greek restaurant in any New England home town. Only two stars because it was such a let down. Wants terrible, wasn't great, just average and I expected way more for the price and being a staple in La Jolla . I think they need to revisit and update the menu to 2025 standards. Sorry Piatti, you missed the mark this time . FYI, you need to have better gluten free options, your food is not that great that you can't try harder. It's 2025, every fine dining or Michelin star has gluten free bread nowadays. Common .. sad sad dishes, presentation was not great. We won't be back and would not recommend this over priced, mediocre fare..

Allie S.

Yelp
I visited Piatti for a business dinner. e ordered fresh bread and several appetizers to share. As a main dish I had the penne bolognese which was okay but I've had better. I would say overall that everyone else liked their meals but it was just an alright Italian restaurant.

Yelp
We come here frequently for nice dinners, special occasions, and date nights. Food has always been consistently good, including the appetizers and drinks. Wait staff is attentive, however, hostess seemed somewhat dismissive, doesn't greet you or offer options when asked about indoor/outdoor seatings

Yelp
Great service but terrible food. I've been coming here for 10+ years but haven't been in a few years. Went for a mother daughter dinner and we were all so disappointed. The Cavatappi was so watery and flavorless. Very confused by the sausage situation... I've never seen an Italian restaurant serve SLICED sausage in a pasta dish. The pasta (Cavatappi) itself was extremely overcooked and mushy as well. The Ravioli with lemon cream was the only edible dish that night, even that was underwhelming and in dire need of salt. Tiramisu was another watery mess, the lady fingers were heavily over soaked and such an unpleasant texture. Left hungry. I'm so sad this place has gone down hill and hope it was just one bad night. I'll give them 3 stars since our waiter was so kind and I feel bad but if I'd rate the food alone I'd maybe give it 1 star.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and service! The wait staff were really helpful and recommended things to us. We got the shrimp pappardelle and the ravioli zucca. Both were exceptional and we cleaned our plates. We'll be back later to try the wines.

Yelp
We were serve by Rudy. He recommend us a few dishes specially the pasta Papardelle, one of the most amazing pasta with shrimps I ever tasted. It was just sublime. The flavor and sensations I felt eaten it are indescribable. Very recommended place to go and eat some amazing dishes.

Yelp
The service was fast and polite so is the general atmosphere and vibes of the place. The only thing lacking is the food. The seasoning in the pasta is lacking. It's not peppery enough or creamy enough. Honestly, the food is a 6/10 especially for the price. Overall, it's a mid Italian restaurant.

Yelp
Have come here a couple times, once with a large group and once with my partner. As far as San Diego Italian goes, Piatti's has reasonable offerings. Ordered the spritz (deliciously light, perfect for a heavy meal). Their ciabatta is very good -- sliced, toasted to a crisp on the outside, fluffy and moist on the inside, with a flavorful balsamic oil. I ordered the pappardelle and my partner got the spaghetti. Both right on par, though expectedly nothing special. Particularly disorganized waiting staff for my duo meal (with glimpses into this in the group meal), which generally is fine but with what Piatti's is selling shouldn't be the case. We had 3 waiters ask us if we were done with our food all within a span of 30 seconds, from first to last. Felt like I was being rushed out an hour into our meal.

Yelp
The setting is fantastic. Has a secluded and intimate feeling but the best bet is to sit outside. Indoors is very loud and a much different experience. I had my usual Caesar salad. It was good but maybe a bit too heavy on the cheese and dressing. They I had the papardelle shrimp dish. Very good but felt a bit too saucy and watery but it was tasty. My stunning date had lasagna and it was good but needed to be a bit hotter. Charging for bread sucks as does the added service charge. Parking is a challenge but it's a short uber from central La Jolla. Friendly service.

Yelp
Best Italian restaurant I have ever eaten at! The people were very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was perfect! I have eaten Italian all over the world and this place is up there with the best!

Yelp
This was an extremely disappointing experience. I was so excited to review Piatti, as it has a pretty formidable reputation. However, the abysmal service I received was more than enough to overshadow anything I had to say about the food or ambiance. One of the kids in my party was eating their pasta dish when they suddenly spit out a screw. A pretty sizable screw, at that. I hate to make a scene at restaurants, but this was seriously dangerous. He could have swallowed and choked it, but thank god he chewed on it first. I can't take this lightly. It's a real safety concern, and frankly, I'm shocked this was allowed to happen. But it didn't stop there. When we informed our waitress (her name was Isela I believe) of the screw, she did not to take it seriously. She essentially said "Okay...well did you want a new pasta without a screw?" Her tone and body language suggested that we were being a bother...like WE were the ones being difficult. We told her no. She left. And later she returned from the kitchen with 3 complimentary desserts. Which I admit was a kind gesture from the restaurant. But then she had the nerve to say "I guess you're lucky, huh?" Excuse me? She was telling us that we were LUCKY for nearly CHOKING on an unsanitary SCREW? It wasn't a joking manner. The table fell silent at her words. I am still appalled by her inappropriate remark. Just so unprofessional. We quickly ate and left. Thankfully this outing did not end in a trip to the emergency room, though it definitely almost did.

Yelp
Spending almost $28 on pasta sounds crazy to me but the pappardelle was so good, I have no regrets. The overall flavor is very light but there are notes of saffron and lemon that coated on every strand. And let me tell you, the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. I highly recommend ordering it from the homemade pasta menu because it tastes so different. I know that because I tried the cavatappi which was nowhere near the same. I also found the tomato sauce to be way too salty to eat, especially since the Italian sausage was already salty too. They also had a risotto special of the day which had peas, some sort of cheese, and some sort of meat that I forgot since it wasn't written on the menu and I can't remember for the life of me what the waiter said. This was alright. It was quite busy and we didn't have a reservation but we were luckily seated within 20 minutes for a party of 5. The waiter who helped us was kind and split one of the dishes for us and even packed up our leftovers.

Yelp
Food good as always. BUT wish all greet staff in every restaurant would understand how insulting and demeaning it is for a single person, especially a female guest to be greeted with "just one" and "only one". Do you SEE more than one person?? Do you actually have tables that only seat one person...no! Are you afraid you can't cope if another person shows up later? I was greeted with both forms of single discrimination today...the second only, I suppose, was to make sure I was transgressing the rule to only dine out if I had a partner before I was seated. I was their ONLY patron at the time...they should be thankful that I had the courage to dine on my own and brought in some income! Other 82 year old single women would love to have a lunch out but don't have the courage to do so because of these two word...just one?

Yelp
All three courses were absolutely delicious! The ciabatta bread and doing oil was so good. We ended up buying two of the dipping oil bottles. The lasagna has a different flavor than other generic ones. I think it feels lighter and in my opinion it's better than the normal ones. The ravioli with the lemon sauce. The patio setting was nice and they turned on the heaters when asked. The only negative I'd say is that the waiter took a bit of time to come back and check on us, or get the check, etc. But it wasn't absurd.
