Birrificio La Piazza is a brewery that opened on Via Durandi in Turin in 2007, revitalizing the city’s historic brewing tradition. In 2014, the owners opened a 2nd location on Via Dei Mille, which serves as a taproom and restaurant where the Birrificio La Piazza beers are also featured. The original brewery is located in a rectangular two-story building inside an outdoor stone square inside a larger surrounding two-story building. In the square are plenty of outdoor patio tables and overhead is their white rectangular sign with jumbled letters. Just inside is a single large room that has a central football-shaped oval wooden bar with several wooden stools and a stainless steel tap tower. Behind the bar is a partitioned area which houses the brewery itself. In front is a green grain mill and in back are tall skinny stainless steel brewing vessels. It is not a large operation. Chalkboards list their 5 house beers on tap, plus one guest beer. In one corner is a refrigerator case with 8 varieties of bottles of their house beer for sale. The draft beer is brewed here, and the bottled varieties are contract brewed at the nearby Birrificio Soralama. I enjoyed the quality of their beer and my favorites were their Anniversary Belgian Pale Ale and Hopper APA. Around the perimeter of the room are plenty of wooden dining tables. The old floor is wooden and the walls are painted orange. Rock background music is playing and the place echoes with cheerful families and friends. Their menu consists of cafe appetizers, bruschetta, salads, gourmet burgers, a variety of dishes and desserts. The food is artfully crafted from nice ingredients and is delicious. The multilingual staff is welcoming, attentive and cheerful. I enjoyed my visit.
