The Best Restaurants in Northeast Philly | Eater Philly

"This Brazilian-style churrascaria, with its barbecued steak and other meats cut table-side from large skewers, draws in the crowds thanks to its price point (in the $30 range), big salad bar, and BYO policy. Nearby, Broncos Brazilian Steakhouse is worth trying too, especially for just $25 a person." - Sarah Maiellano

One of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Picanha Brazilian Steakhouse is a great establishment that offers a huge amount of food and variety. The waiters were extremely friendly, very charming and genuine with us, customers. A peculiar waiter (a tall, black guy with ponytail) earned our heart since he enchanted the experience with great conversations. If you ever go to this establishment, make sure to not eat unless you want your belly to be overfilled 👏🔥🙌

Google
This was a location recommended by a coworker while visiting Philadelphia. This was a great choice! The food was absolutely delicious. You choose what you want to eat from the deli’s variety of meats cooked to perfection in the back grill/oven area to the buffet options. They have a ton of tasty desert options as well. Dint eat all day if you’re planning to come here. You will be stuffed! The area is clean and the staff is friendly.

Google
It was not the best picture because I had already started eating 🤣 but let me tell you this place was so good!!! Loved the Pichanha!! It's so fresh and juicy!!! I'm definitely coming back again, and the waiters were also so amazing and very attentive!!

I came here for takeout at a friend's recommendation. I wish I could have stayed for the buffet. This place is amazing. Fresh grilled meat as you like it, tons of options. I can't wait to go sit and eat there

Google
We love it here. We come at least 1 x a week. Clean. Friendly. I highly recommend it. All of the employees are extremely polite and helpful as well.

Came here here for a friend's birthday last Sunday. We sat at the longest table I ever saw in my life but we were able to communicate to everyone somehow. They wasted no time bringing the meat over which was nice. Everything had a nice sear and perfect texture, but most things tasted just like. . The salad bar with all the other dinner sides options were okay. My favorite part was the charged pineapple for sure.

Google
Our Brazilian friend took us here, so you know it's good and authentic. The picanha was delicious, and we loved everything we tried from the buffet. They weigh your plate, so you can either fill it up or keep it lighter and go back for your favorites. We'll definitely be back for more!

Google
Great neighborhood Brazilian steak house with the option of buy by pound to dine in or to go. The Rodizio is also offered with great choices and service. Overall, the quality of food is excellent, , and I love their service and fair pricing. We will be back soon.

Yelp
Amazing experience here all around - from the food, staff, and setup inside. Great for groups or dining solo, and there's also sliding doors for a more private side room area. The "salad" bar has all sorts of options, from salad, vegetables, fruits, and many things I forget. I'd say at least two dozen different offerings there, and everything was very tasty. Even the basic veggies were very fresh and it was all quite appetizing. The rodizio here was great with many different meat options brought around. Different style steaks, roast beef, pork, sausages, chicken, and lamb. All very juicy and seasoned nicely. And then the pineapple was also perfect, definitely save some room for that!

Yelp
12/27/24: Came back with a larger party of 9, and all the same good stuff was here. Servers were all around, pineapple came early, and the meat is always delicious. Still highly recommend.

Yelp
Well! After trying quite a few of the "Brazilian Steakouses" in Philly, I decided to step out and try something new. I searched all over and read a ton of reviews. My search led me to Picanha located on Locust St in Center City. I was excited to give this place a try. So, I invited my grandma to have lunch with me and we ventured out to find this place. I will say Picanha is a beautiful place. You walk in and you can see how much thought has been put into decorating the establishment. We were greeted by a smiling young man who seated us and then gave us our dining instructions. We ordered our strawberry lemonades and made our way to the salad bar. The salad/hot bar was packed with items. I knew better than to try and eat a lot from the salad /hot bar bc I wanted the MEATS! However, I had a small spinach salad, ribs, and mashed potatoes to start. The ribs were succulent and the mashed potatoes were creamy and yummy!! My grandma had a ton of random things on her plate. She's a rookie, so I let her have her fun. Now, on to the meats. Our gaucho came over with bacon wrapped chicken. It was very dry and not tasty at all. I didn't waste much time trying to eat it. I saved my appetite for some of the other meat options. The gauchos arrived with various steaks. I will highlight my favorites. The NY strip, garlic sirloin and bottom sirloin were my favorites. They were seasoned and really good. I wasn't a fan of the beef rib, garlic steak, or chicken wrapped in bacon. I revisited the salad/hot bar and tried some white rice and black beans. I found the beans to be really salty. My grandmother mentioned the brussel sprouts and cauliflower flower were really hard. She thought they were served raw and not cooked at all. Additionally, there were only a few of the meats that she favored. The check arrived and I was surprised that our lunch cost us $93 dollars and that was without alcohol. I was happy we decided to have lunch and not dinner bc I don't think I would have been remotely happy with the high dinner price if those same meat options were provided then. Overall, Picanha is a good place for Brazilian Steakhouse beginners. I think there is room for improvements if they are going to measure up against the larger steakhouses in the city.

Yelp
I have to be very honest here. The BEST time to try a Brazilian Steak House is during restaurant week. Because we all know that the all-you-can-eat and the salad bar can empty your wallet lol. And what's better than most is that Picanha Brazilian Steak House actually carry alcohol, hooray. Me and my friends picked Picanha as our girls night out dinner in January. I was really glad that I made the reservation early. When I try to modify it a few days later, every freaking time slots were full. Picanha text me 15 minutes before my reservation to ensure that I was keeping my reservation and telling me my table is ready. And once I arrived, I was seated immediately without my other friends. Both were running a bit late. That I appreciate A LOT, bc some places doesn't allow seating until everyone arrives. Once everyone arrives, our server swing by and took our drinks. We had order Passion Fruit Caipirinha, The Amazontini and It's Carnaval. We all enjoy our drinks and some even had a second glass lol. The meats were all deeelicious, especially the garlic sirloin. Our first round of the garlic sirloin were the best, as it was the fattiest and extremely tender. But when the second round of garlic sirloin came, it was well done even though I requested medium rare. Other meats were also tasty. We ate mostly steak, and try something like parmesan chicken, not my type, as it is too dry. We loved the salad bar. I loved their potatoes salad, it is one of the best in Philly without the darn onions. Of course, can't forget the dessert. The Tres Leche were very soft and creamy. Why the 4 stars? Their water have a very strong smell to them. We all know is tap, but that strong smell is abnormal. I wouldn't mind going here again but only during restaurant week. And probably request other kind of water or bring my own lol.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting this venue. We went for my son's 18th birthday and I was really nervous. I was actually very pleased. It was comfortable, the atmosphere was great, not too stuffy nor too casual. Both of my teenaged sons absolutely LOVED it even the salad bar. That speaks volumes when teenagers want to return. They cannot wait to go back again. The food was delicious, I loved the butter steak and the grilled pineapple. The only down side was that I could not enjoy the Yucca fries. They presented them combined with chicharrons' and due to religious restrictions I cannot consume pork. Other than that, I was extremely please and recommend them as a great spot to eat.

Yelp
Wonderful place for a great carnivorous meal! I was at a large group dinner and everything was fantastic. The salads, cold dishes, and hot entres in the buffet were all excellent - worth coming for in itself. And the rozidio meat was fabulous. Many different cuts of beef, as well as lamb, chicken, sausage. Delicious and too-plentiful! The grilled pineapple was a special treat. Service was outstanding. The place is comfortable and very nice inside. For a special dinner with a definite meat-lover focus, can't be beat. And you can include vegetarians also with the amazing buffet.

Yelp
This year for restaurant week we wanted to go for Brazilian rodizio and Picanha was the option available to us. We made a reservation a week prior for Saturday dinner on OpenTable and time slots were filling up fast! We drove into center city and luckily found parking not too far away. Initially we walked past the establishment because we were in conversation plus the signs can be easily missed. Once we arrived the staff was very warm and welcoming to our party of 4. They also became fast friends with my little one who dined for free since anyone under 6 is free, which was a big plus. The restaurant is proudly family owned and there is a lot of pride in their food, rightfully so! The food was absolutely delicious, all the meats, the buffet bar, I feel stuffed again just thinking about it! Perfectly seasoned and flavored. The only thing I missed was the warm sides that are normally provided on demand with the round of meats. The caipirinha was delicious and nostalgic to the first time I enjoyed the Brazilian drink staple. I really liked this place and look forward to going again.

Yelp
Has a fantastic salad bar and meat is delicious! Service was attentive without any annoyance. Design was both rustic and modern. Ambiance was cozy.

Yelp
Oh my...what can I say? I was there with a friend this past Saturday afternoon for lunch. What an EXPERIENCE!!! For starters, the decor/ambiance threw me into early 20th century Brazil--along with the street signs; very relaxing. The Center City location is simply beautiful. The server was friendly, professional, knowledgeable--and wasn't pushy or demanding; he was there to please . As for food....AWESOMENESS!!! We did the Market Place; I must say, everything I selected was delicious! Freshly made and more than enough delicacies to tempt the Gods . I didn't try the steak--only because I'm not a steak person--but I did feast on the bacon wrapped chicken and sausages! Didn't need to add salt or pepper; food was perfectly seasoned. Last--but definitely not least--the drinks...woot woot to the Caipirinha!!!!! Dining out involves experiencing pert-near perfection in food, service and ambience; Picanha delivered--in more ways than one.

Yelp
After spending the day exploring the beautiful city, what better way to end it than with a fantastic dinner. Two words: Brazilian barbecue. I've had my fair share of this very fine cuisine (I love to pack in the hot beef), so I was not a rookie to what goes down in the dining room. My buddy and I crushed it so completely, I thought the servers were going to give us Brazilian flags to take home. To cut to the chase: excellent. Every single piece of meat was like party in my mouth. And man, did the party last all night long (like the Lionel Ritchie song). The servers just kept bringing out various cuts beef, chicken and pork in wonderful parade of meat. Our experience was so wonderful that I wanted to go across town and ring the Liberty Bell with my fork. A tip of the cap to our server who was very patient in explaining mask/glove protocols. Safety first!

Yelp
I dined here tonight for restaurant week. The place is cute and clean. Definitely more casual than other places and I liked that. Service was great!! Everything on the salad/hot dish bar looked fresh. I didn't try much because I was saving room for the rodizio. The Brazilian cheese bread was delicious. Loved the plantains. I tried the coconut fish stew. It was good but the temperature seemed less than lukewarm. It seemed like the hot dishes were sitting awhile untouched. I recommend the grilled veggies. The meat came out slow at first but picked up as the tables filled up. All of the beef and lamb were delicious and well seasoned. I love my beef rare and I wasn't disappointed. I did try the bacon wrapped chicken. It was dry. I did not try the Parmesan pork. Oh and the sausage was juicy and flavorful. I enjoyed the lamb but my pieces were really fatty. They have a full bar but didn't offer a wine list or drink menu. I was never asked if I wanted anything other than water. I had to flag down the server. The restaurant week dessert was outstanding. Tres Leches cake. Finally a dessert I can eat!! (Nut and chocolate allergy ugghh) I was so full but managed to scarf it down.

Yelp
This place was amazing. The service was lovely the atmosphere was impeccable. The owner came out and did a lemon cello shot with us and everything was cooked perfectly. We will definitely be coming back here.

Julian F.

Yelp
"The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented, with fresh ingredients and perfect flavors," "The service was impeccable, our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu," "The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a special occasion," "Generous portions and excellent value for money, we left feeling completely satisfied," "Highly recommend this place, we will definitely be back soon." We also got a chance to meet the new owner Mr. Renaldo who is very nice and professional, we felt right at home like we always have been before since we've been dining there when it first opened years ago. Never a dull moment and always a great experience here at the steakhouse. I feel that this steakhouse is underestimated because it's smaller than the other restaurant change but has a special quality that most people don't recognize. The servers here are very intuitive and accommodating and I just love coming here when the food is always hot and fresh and they recognize their customers needs and requests. Cocktails here are always delicious I had a Caprinha and it was absolutely delicious.

Yelp
Can here for a friend's bday and we're ready for the random meats coming our way. I liked the hot food / salad bar because you didn't have to wait for food to be brought to you. Some of the food was a bit cold, but overall pretty good. . The meat options that came around just kept coming and coming. My fave was the flank steak. Least fave was the passion fruit flavored salmon at the hot food bar. Just didn't work for me. Overall there weren't as many options of meat compared to similar places but still pretty good. Needless to say, we were all pretty stuffed.

Yelp
I went to Picanha during restaurant week last week and it was delicious! Even though the menu was limited to about 5 meats, their salad bar was open as well and they had so much food there, not only salad. Other Brazilian steakhouses have a salad bar and rice a fejoada, but this one had that plus other hot dishes like fish, plaintains, mashed potatoes, etc. I got more stuffed at the bar than I did with the meat to be honest. The meat I did eat was amazing, though! I think they have the best top sirloin between Chima and Fogo de Chao. They also served lamb on their restaurant week menu, when it's usually a premium meat at the other restaurants. The staff was also super friendly. It's a family run business with all the staff members but one from Brazil. It feels very authentic here. Cannot wait to go again!

Yelp
The steaks that i tried were really good. My uncle took me to an interesting restaurant which I appreciated. Their service was amazing. The people who assisted us were amazing. Overall I had a great time

Yelp
First time here and I think I will return... We were seated and when the rest of our group arrived the staff helped to accommodate us as the table was cramped for 12 people. We partook in the buffet and sat back down as the staff began to bring out the meats. The meats were good; I didn't really enjoy the sides except for the shrimp rice and asparagus. They also had pineapples that had cinnamon and sugar. They were so tasty!

Yelp
Went to Picanha on a Sunday night for dinner while visiting family. The staff was friendly and the service was fantastic. I have never been served so quickly in my life! Before our waitress could finish telling us what is on the menu, another server had heard what we wanted from the salad bar and had brought it over. Isn't that amazing?!? (Salad bar is open but is brought to customers due to Covid). The meats were tasty, my favorite would have to be the spare ribs, sausage, and short ribs! Tender and flavorful. I tried pretty much everything and definitely enjoyed my meal. Also, dinner was $35/person (drinks and desserts aren't included) which is very reasonable compared to other competitors.

Yelp
Came here during restaurant week, and it did not disappoint. The picanha definitely lives up to its name here, being super flavorful and perfectly charred, and is one of many cuts here that is done super well. The both the lamb leg and top sirloin were very tender and cooked perfectly and pair well with their authentic sides chimichurri, bacon yuca flour, and hot pepper relish. The salad bar was nothing special but their cheese bread is definitely a must eat here. That finished off with their tres leches cake make me one happy camper. In addition, the ambiance and amazing service resulted in a delightful evening because our server was attentive, very kind, and patient, and the meat carvers will accommodating and super nice. The only issue were that some cuts of meat were tough and chewy and it was disappointing that they did not have all the cuts of meat in the menu available. They also do not have a huge selection of meats, but that might be due to it being restaurant week so that might change.

Yelp
Wow! What a nice experience. Large group for a birthday party. The food was amazing and the staff was attentive and welcoming The restaurant is beautiful. We were seated in their wine room. It was quieter. The salad bar had many different dishes and most were prepared to my liking. There were two dishes, lasagna and penne alfredo, the noodles were overcooked and bland. Everything else i had was well seasoned. The gaucho service was terrific and they were friendly. Everybody that had drinks from the bar were thoroughly pleased.

Yelp
Picanha is one of the 3 main Brazilian steakhouses in the city along with Fogo de Chao and Chima. It is located in Gayborhood and finding parking might be difficult. Comparing this with the other 2, the vibe is definitely not as "high class", but that shouldn't deter you from checking it out. Keeping with the Brazilian steakhouse theme, it is an AYCE meat festival and people will keep coming up to you offering you various types of meats (steak, chicken, lamb, sausage). Comparing the quality of food, I do think it is comparable to the other 2 Brazilian steakhouses, though I personally like the other 2 better. They also have a salad bar, which I think has much more variety compared to the other two since there are many more "hot food" options in their bar. They have a full bar and can make any drink you want. Price is what you expect, a bit pricey, so would definitely choose a special occasion to come here. Recommendations: My favorites are their house special Picanha and their Garlic Picanha. They were amazing!

Yelp
If you're looking for a nice steakhouse for dinner while you're in Philadelphia, Picanha is an amazing Brazilian choice that is in a buffet style form. For New Years Eve, we were worried that we wouldn't be able to find any place that wasn't packed. Online we decided to go with this restaurant and make our reservation. If you have been to Texas De Brazil or Fogo De Chão, their atmospheres are very similar. The staff at this location were very welcoming, the hostesses immediately opened the door for us and sat us down with our prior reservation. I highly recommend if you are a group larger than 8, to call before hand or go online to reserve your spot. As for the food, the buffet has a variety of pastas, salads, and vegetables to go alongside your meat if you do decide to choose the salad bar + meat option. There are so many to choose from. I suggest trying a little bit of everything because everything is delicious! There is also hot food at the bar, like rice, beans, mashed potatoes, salmon, etc. Yes, for those not interested in meat, you can opt for the salad bar only. The meat servers were very friendly and always came around with a different type of meat. From sausage to filet mignon, Picanha has a type of meat for every meat eater.

Yelp
The service and food cannot be beat! My son and I had 9:15PM reservations on Saturday, January 27, 2024 for Center City District Restaurant Week. We got there about 35 minutes early and were able to sit at a small table right by the door to wait (the bar was full). A waitress brought us 2 glasses and a carafe of water while we waited. We did get seated right at 9:15 and our waitress and the hostess were both extremely apologetic about the wait, even though my son and I BOTH stressed we knew we would have a wait as we were early. \ The waitress then comp'd our first drink. This was our first time going to ANY Brazilian Steakhouse and I cannot imagine going to any other.... I WILL be going to the Center City Philadelphia location again as soon as I am able.

Jacqueline M.

Yelp
ZERO STAR!!! Horrible experience I wouldn't go back.. we got kicked out by the manager because she needed it our table. First of all, we wasn't there for two hours. I have reservation still I waited 25 minutes to be seated. For a customer who spent $400 shouldn't be treated poorly..I would not recommend this place to no one. TheyNeed better management and a bigger location. Jose the gauchos guy was awesome!! They need more people like him working there.

Yelp
This is a restaurant week review. Dinner was $40 which included full salad bar, selection of meats and tres leches for dessert. There's also a full bar but not included in the restaurant week menu. The vibe of the restaurant was definitely more laid back and casual as compared to Fogo or Chima. Salad bar had a good selection, favorite was the Brazilian cheese bread and grilled pineapple. There were about 8-10 different selections of beef, pork and chicken to choose from. The sirloin and pork were great !! The servers came around with the meats pretty often. The tres leches was one of the best I've had! Great new find, especially for restaurant week

Yelp
I was at first hesitated when walking for lunch since there was not many people around 1pm on Saturday but people were filling up. The hot/cold bar could be more attentive in cleaning and replacing empty trays. There's only a few plates put out at a time. Server was not attentive nor asked us once if everything was ok. Food - great selection at the salad bar. Chicken wrapped bacon was awesome. No complaints on other meats. The meat server kept on coming out and walk around constantly. The cakes were pre-cut so it seems dry since it has been sitting in the fridge. I don't remember what this dessert was called. 3 different sugar balls - too sweet, all sugar. Cheesecake with guava sauce - soft cheesecake, compliment with the sauce. My husband likes it but it's a tad sweet to me. Key lime pie was not too sweet but could be a bit more lime - overall good. I would have given 5 stars if it had not been the service.

Yelp
Just finished eating lunch at this new spot. They have only been open a few days. Unlike most places that I have been to during the first month of opening, they have their shiz together. Almost every aspect of this restaurants exterior and physical space is preserved ala Garces Trading Co design- why change a beautiful space too much, right. The white tile pillars, tin ceiling, bar area, and wine room are all the same. It is bright and airy and not at all stuffy, dark or loud like the other two chain Argentinian restaurants in center city. The salad bar was thoughtfully laid out and since it is a new restaurant I sampled and tasted each and every item. The salads were fresh, the sides well seasoned and plenty of meat and fish in the salad bar alone to fill many bellies. Haha. How many varieties of meats does one need to have a meat baby anyways. Don't come here if you want to see cultural appropriations of gauchos wearing costumes. Don't come here if you want all the excess of well done meat parading around. Don't come here if your expectation is gluttony for the sake of gluttony alone. Don't come here if you want every cut of meat available as this is quality not quantity. Come here for these reasons: Ambiance- bright, open, friendly, clean Service- polite, down to earth, efficient Food - fresh, flavorful, meat temps on point, very well seasoned sides Price - the $25 All you can eat salad bar plus your choice of 2 selections of beef and 2 selections of chicken can feed a family. All in all, this restaurant is making it fresh and in the style of what one would find in Brazil. Relaxed atmosphere, calming and upbeat style music playing in the background and tasty attention to detail in food flavor. Welcome to the neighborhood! Ps- we literally walked in by chance after leaving another spot in the area because I didn't feel like having 3 overpriced pretentious eggs for relatively the same price as the bounty we had here.

Yelp
The experience here was great. Children friendly, good selection of cuts, and the best of all: truly Brazilian cooked and flavored food at the hot bar. In a traditional Brazilian steakhouse the hot bar isn't usually the highlight, but here it definitely is. The meat cuts are not as flavored as in some of the more mainstream steakhouses and some cuts they don't carry (lamb) but overall we will be back. Con: the meats did seem to drag a little between servings but that was quickly adjusted and they brought out exactly what we requested at the appropriate temperature requested once we asked.

Yelp
Amazing for and vibe, we somehow got lucky and it was a slow night so it made it more romantic

Yelp
Went for Restaurant Week (September 2021) with a friend - $40 for full access to the side buffet, meat service, and choice of dessert (cheesecake or key lime pie). Like with any restaurant during restaurant week, definitely make a reservation. In terms of the pricing, I didn't really feel like it was that much of a deal in general because it's usually $40 for the meat service & side bar according to their website. But, I wanted to try something new. Desserts: 1/5 - The desserts were not stellar. They appeared to look almost identical - I ordered the key lime pie and my friend the cheesecake. The portions were small and not cold; I was expecting them to be served cold. The key lime pie was very thick and almost custard-like while the cheesecake was almost tasteless. This was my first time at a buffet-style restaurant in years, and first time at a rodízio style establishment. I wasn't opposed to the rotating meat service, but did notice that after about a half hour the gentlemen walking around with the dishes were avoiding us altogether, which didn't really make sense to me considering our plates were empty. At first I assumed it was because I had been turning down the pork options, as I do not eat pork, but after a while it became ridiculous. Meat: 3/5 from what I did get, favorites were the garlic steak (comes out sizzling) and the garlic chicken. Some other cuts of meat were very fatty or kind of dry. Service: 3.5/5 - the host & "main" server (I have it in quotes because due to the nature of the restaurant you don't spend much time with the server with rotating service) were nice, no complaints. The girl who clears tables kept checking in with us almost like rushing us even though we were barely there for 40 mins. We were just waiting for meat to come. Minus rating because we kept getting overlooked by the food. Sides: 4/5 - some of the sides were really good- my favorites were the watermelon and pasta salad, while others were just plain. There wasn't a ton of variety in what they were serving. The bread rolls were almost raw in the middle which wasn't great. Cleanliness 5/5 - I did appreciate that the restaurant was very clean (the floors were very slippery for someone in heels!) and they had Covid signs around the front. They were very adamant about enforcing glove-wearing while getting sides from the bar, cleared and cleaned quickly, and all of the restaurant staff wore masks properly all of the time. Although it was relatively packed due to restaurant week, I didn't feel like I was squashed on top of someone Overall, I didn't hate my experience there but don't feel a need to go again at any point.

Yelp
Support this business!! I called the day before Valentine's Day to make a reservation for my sisters bday (on Valentine's Day), which was super challenging, obviously. Anyways, the gentleman, I'm not sure if he was the owner/manager, called me back and was able to fit me in after I told him the situation. I can't thank this guy enough. When we arrived, the hostess at the door was friendly and we were seated quickly. It was a bit busy when we went due to it being Valentine's Day, but we were greeted by our server within the 10 minutes of sitting. With covid, they ask to use the gloves provided to get anything at the buffet (which is nice because some places are not doing that) After getting some sides, the meat came fairly often. Not as fast as fogo de chao or chimas, but again, it was very busy. The only issue I had was that we were seated in an area that seemed to be forgotten about by the gentleman bringing the meat around so we didn't get the chance to try certain ones (we actually had to ask multiple times about meats we did want because it seemed the same thing was being brought over, by the one guy that knew about our table) The food quality was good and for the price, you can't beat it!

Yelp
We are visiting from Virgina and just went to Fogo de Chao in January in DC . This place is delicious, friendly wait staff and great atmosphere. The bartender knows how to make a mojito!! Our waitress was amazing and from Brazil. Thank you for making this a great first night in Philadelphia!!

Yelp
My boyfriend LOVES Brazilian steakhouses so we have been on a mission to try all them in the area. We went to Picanha on a Monday night and was very pleased! The salad bar was my favorite of all the Brazilian steakhouses including Fogo and Chima! The options were so good and flavorful and ranged from salad to bread to wings to cheese etc. The meat was a little slow to come out but when we mentioned it to our server, it was taken care of quickly. I'm assuming it was due to the fact there were only 5 other tables. The cuts of meat were flavorful and cooked to perfection. We enjoyed ourselves very much!

Yelp
Came here with a small group to use a Groupon we had and what a deal! The Groupon came with the all you can eat plus limeade and dessert, and everything was delish. We ate so much! and walked away feeling so stuffed, like we could barely move. You could prob roll us away down the street, we are so much. The staff were so friendly and helpful and made suggestions on what meats to choose and told us how the meats were cooked. The price with the Groupon deal was like 60 bucks for 4 people and included so much food and was an awesome deal! I would definitely return.

Yelp
This is my second time at Picanha but my first time at this location. If I could give this place 10 stars for service, I would give it 11. The food here is great, all the cuts are seasoned really well, and not a dry piece that we have gotten. If you aren't big on meats, they also have just a buffet option with a selection of salads, sides, cold cut meats and cheeses. Again, the service here is immaculate!!!!! From the moment we stepped through the door to our last bite, the servers were SO friendly. The best service I have ever received in a restaurant. If you're having a bad day, come eat here. It'll make your day better for sure.

Yelp
We had a nice celebratory meal here. Everyone rolled out of there feeling very fat and happy, and as an "almost" vegetarian, I enjoyed the buffet.

Yelp
This place is beautiful! It's a nice size, great lighting and the staff are so welcoming and attentive. We sat down and they immediately greeted us and explained the menu and and answered all of the questions we had with patience. The buffet had various items. I stuck with the mushrooms (AH MAY ZING) and mashed potatoes. They paired well with all the delicious meats that came by! They give you something like a small coaster that you turn to green when you want meat, and red when you need a break. As I said before they were very attentive and were able to give us choices in how we wanted our meats. Everything was delicious! We stuffed ourselves. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Five of us dined during restaurant week in Philadelphia. Food was very good. For lack of a better term, the salad Bar was very good and had a large variety of salads, pasta, even some meats. Waitress we had was very attentive. The waiters that bring the meats around brought the meats continually. And they were very accommodating, as some in my party enjoy medium and some well done. If the person bringing it around did not have they way you liked it cooked, they would go back and bring you what you wanted. I have been to two other Brazilian steakhouses and this one definitely brought the meats quicker and more often. Nice variety of chicken, beef and pork. It is a little pricey, going during restaurant week helps. I would definitely go again.

Yelp
Came in last night with a friend because we've been the location on Castor several times and thought "why not?" This location is much classier than the Castor one, decor great, place is new, ambience good. However, what really mattered when coming to the place is the food, and the reason why I'm giving it a 1-star is the fact that during this restaurant week time - it's $40/person, I expect there to be some quality aspect to that. There were only 5-6 meats available and all of them flavorless EXCEPT for the chicken wrapped in bacon (tasted like bacon and the chicken was actually not dry). Don't expect ANY quality meat like ribeye or anything like that. It was all Top sirloin, roast beef, picanha, small pink sausage, chicken wrapped in bacon, and lamb. We requested well-done meat and the well done meat we seldom got was burnt and inedible (extremely dry we both found ourselves spitting out the meat we got multiple times). The majority of the meat we actually got was bloody (inedible as well). The garlic chicken was the other chicken they had available and it was extremely lackluster - barely any flavor and extremely dry. I cooked chicken earlier in the day in my own oven and it was jucier and more flavorful than this (and I'm a terrible cook). The other meats, pork + lamb + beef, all flavorless, with the only flavor you COULD taste was extreme saltiness on some outer parts of the meat - close to the fat, which was inedible as well. Dessert were pre-made cheesecake or key lime pie. Cheesecake tasted good (just like how it should be). The key lime pie was very sour. The salad bar was all about appearance, and to fill you up, some parts were good. The potato and plantains and green beans were good, but other than that the fact the meat was so bad, it was not worth the $100 I spent here and for sure, I'll never come back here again. It was a HUGE disappointment and a rip off almost! Parking: Street metered parking. Good luck. Service: Good, refilled water a bunch of times. Covid: Everyone wore masks, they had hand sanitizer and gloves for the bar. Bathroom: Classy and clean only 1 bathroom for women (can only fit 1 person at a time) and 1 for men. Food: Extremely bad and disappointing. Would I come here again and recommend? Absolutely not.

Yelp
I had been going to the Castor Ave location for decades. Originally, a VERY inexpensive alternative to Fogo, over the years I found them raising prices and decreasing the variety of meats. The last few times, I felt as though the namesake cut (though delicious) was the only beef proffered - along with frequent offers of chicken and sausage. It was with some skepticism I tried the new Center City store. The trade off of navigating Center City traffic vs. Roosevelt Boulevard is a wash (except for the parking, so tack an extra $20 onto your lunch time budget.) There is a "by the pound" option, but the $31 full rodizio was the real comparison I was after. The salad bar is comparable to the NE store, however up Northeast there seem to be a few more "meal" dishes offered. You won't see the "Fogo" items like hearts of palm or prosciutto, but I can't imagine how anyone could complain about what IS offered. But we were here for the meat. My equally gluttonous dining companion and I made it clear that we were interested in variety. On an October Friday at 12:30 there were very few customers, so we were pampered. Our own private "gaucho" understood we liked our beef "Mal pasado" - rare - and he never failed us. Though we began with bacon wrapped chicken and linguica sausage, we were soon presented with picanha, as well as top Sirloin, garlic steak, tenderloin filet, flank, rib eye and beef rib (sliced from the bone.) Each was perfectly rare and moderately salted. The rib eye was a bit chewy but that was compared to the marvelously tender other cuts. These folks fortunately have figured out that brisket can't be grilled (or at least they didn't try to feed any to us.) $31 is a little higher than my average daily lunch. Wines hover between $12-15 per glass. This IS center city though. It's a beautiful venue, but still paper-napkin comfortable. Water glasses were constantly filled, and the red /green puck service flow devices are dispensed with. Meats came out a LITTLE faster than I'd have liked, but that sure beats the alternative, especially at lunch. I will return as often as I can afford to.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I wanted to go to a Brazilian Steakhouse for restaurant week so we decided to try Picanha Brazilian Steakhouse. Long story short - spend the extra money and go to Fogo and/or Chima. The set up, decor, tables, etc. look very modern looking and aesthetically pleasing. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. For larger parties, there is a semi-separate area. Although it might seem nice in pictures, the actual set-up is not ideal at all. It was hard to navigate around the restaurant, especially when many of the tables are only seating 2 people. Tables are too close together and small. There's no streamlined way to get to and from the salad bar and bathrooms to your table. In regards to the actual food, during restaurant week there were only 5-6 meats available plus desert. This is pretty typical (Chima and Fogo had the same amount of meats when they used to participate in restaurant week) and included meats from each category: pork/sausage, sirloin, chicken, etc. However, the meat was dry, not super flavorful, and often not the right temperature/cook. The only one I actually finished was the garlic steak. In regards to the desert, we both got the cheesecake and we were not fans. They tasted like the store-bought cheesecake you could get at Acme. The salad bar did have a decent amount of options. I did get refills from the charcuterie board options and the mashed potatoes (not super memorable but better than eating nothing). The salad bar also had hand sanitizer and gloves. In terms of service, the people serving the meats were really present in the beginning and then dwindled off - so we had a lot of meat on our plates that ended up cold and couldn't get meats later on. However, our actual server (I believe his name was Luis), was amazing - constantly refilling our water, clearing out our old plates, and asking us how we were doing. Some other notes: parking in center city is never easy and we had to do street metered parking a couple blocks away. One of the most annoying things about the experience was the fact that there is only 1 bathroom for women and only 1 bathroom for men - for an all you can eat restaurant. There were lines for the bathroom. Maybe they're better when it's not restaurant week, but I don't think I'll be coming back.

Yelp
Experienced this restaurant for the first time during center city's restaurant week and the food was amazing! Definitely will return to try the other proteins that were not served at that time. The salad bar is set with a variety of different additions for your plate, not just veggies, which was a nice touch. There were sauces at the salad bar but no sauce dishes which was a little disappointing. And as attentive as the servers with all the skewers were, the regular waiting staff seemed a little chaotic. We were asked by multiple different staff for drink and dessert options when we had already ordered or had to grab someone different to put in orders. Otherwise, the night was great and the food was fantastic!

Yelp
Meh This is the third Brazilian Steakhouse I've been to in the City. So, I have no choice but to compare my experience here to my experiences at Fogo De Chao and Chima. This place is weak. Yes, it looks nice. But, that's where it ends. It's like they saw Chima and Fogo making money, and figured they'd make a knock-off version. We went for Restaurant Week, but we were told that for $7 more, we could get their entire menu. From what I gathered, the only difference was that we got a still cooking slice of Picanha. Big whoop... The gauchos were NOT highly attentive, they'd disappear after serving 1/3 of the floor, presumably because of the way they prepare their meat(you can see the kitchen area from the bar). They cook it, and serve slices until they cut it down to the rare part of the meat, then run back and re-cook the meat. So, if you get the meat at the end, it's dried out by then. Not sure if Chima or Fogo do that, but they're obviously good at hiding it and keeping the food from drying out, if they do I would wait and wait for the meats I wanted, we even asked the servers to grab the gauchos, and still nothing. I finally got tired of waiting for the best cuts of meat and gave up and went home. We weren't even allowed to box up our desserts to take home... Spend the extra to go to Chima or Fogo...you'll be better off

Yelp
Service is superb and the food at salad bar taste pretty good too! I really like the baked fish they served there. The meat are good, chicken are very tender and juicy. Steak are average. They have many dessert selections but they are all too sweet to my liking. Overall, I think the experience is decent and would def come back again!

Yelp
The black bean were delicious...ALL the food is room temp..none of the employees know what's going on (prices, seating). The two guys cutting meat, one almost impaled the other trying to serve, I asked for garlic prime rib, he brought me burnt regular old steak NO lables on any of the warm/room temp food. I tried all the supposed "cold" salads..horrible refrigerator taste...restocked every day ABSOLUTELY was not fresh..You kicked me in the nuts for $93..worst excuse for Brazilian food ...EVER!!!

Yelp
Took out a couple of colleagues that flew into Philly on a business trip. The location is low key from the main busy streets. Luckily got street parking right in front, but there are several options around. The food was seasoned well and tasty. The rodizio came out frequently. Took a little while to get our drink orders in, possible mix up between servers. The menu selection was good and the price set right. This was my first "buffet" style dining experience since covid started. I felt comfortable and the restaurant was clean.

Yelp
There's 2 location, I've only been to the northeast location, the food and service was good. I would recommend this place.
