Picayune Social House Closed in New Orleans’ CBD - Eater New Orleans

"Picayune Social House has closed its doors after just over a year in a spot one time known as Newspaper Row, housing the Daily Picayune and eventually the Times Picayune. The decor included old newspapers displayed on the walls, but the menu ran a little wilder. A tandoor oven allowed the restaurant to bang out naan, which was used as the foundation for flatbreads and as a vehicle for hummus, whiskey chicken, beef tenderloin, and falafel. The restaurant also used the oven for rosemary and thyme chicken breast, lemon grass char siu pork, beef tenderloin, tamarind and chipotle lamb, and kho khe shrimp. A ragtag team of boudin balls, salads, and ceviche rounded out the menu. The restaurant’s strong point though was the bar, which served a popular candied old fashioned." - Stephanie Carter

Went to a Ruby Slipper for breakfast and were told they had a two hour wait so we wandered over and found the Picayune. It was great! The service was wonderful, French Press coffee great and the food was good. I had a poached egg on seafood cake with biscuit and Hollandaise.

Good food and friendly service. We ate the local menu - Picayune chicken and Carbonara Cajun. Both were delicious but Carbonara Cajun was certainly tastier. The cocktail was strong and pretty good too.

Horrible. Stay away. They were out of oysters. SERIOUSLY?? They were also out of half the other staff on the menu. Only vegetarian option sounded disgusting: bell pepper stuffed with steamed vegetables. I ordered tofu with side dishes: I got the smallest, most pathetic portion of tofu. Herbed couscous with no herbs. Oversalted mushrooms. Measly 3 dollar discount after speaking to the manager, so charged 12 dollars for a baby meal. How did this place get 4.9 stars???

Excellent service, good menu options, and delicious drinks. Bar seating is available as well as tables and outdoor seating. Happy Hour runs from 3-7.

Great place with great food and beer. Very low key compared to most other places around New Orleans. Really enjoyed coming to watch some football before our game started. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that can't brave the craziness of Bourbon street

This restaurant was right around the corner from our hotel and it was a great find! Our Original Sin cocktail was delicious and the Chicken Picayune was fantastic!

Excellent flavors. My husband loved his blackened snapper on crab cakes. I had the chicken on gyro which was delicious as well.
