Picchi

"This Italian restaurant adjoining the Regent Park hotel is surrounded by art galleries and luxury boutiques and is well worth a visit. Here, amid a classic-cum-contemporary ambience, chef Pier Paolo Picchi rekindles memories of his childhood through Italian dishes. These showcase well-defined flavours and innovative touches, and the Brazilian ingredients make an interesting contribution. Try the pici pasta from Tuscany with a Calabrese sausage, white bean and peperoncino sauce." - Michelin Inspector

This is a fancy restaurant in SP, said to bear a Michelin star. They’re specialized in pasta - which are quite good. Their adega is also nice. Staff is amazing, very helpful and nice. They try to make the client help by all means. If you ask for a coffee, for instance, you gonna get some sweeties together. But, although food is great, it is not an experience as one would expect when read about the place and considering the price they charge. It is an expensive place. They are good and it is a good option, but I didn’t reckon them an amazing place and I have got pasta elsewhere, cheaper, and better.

The food, the attention and the environment is simply great. I fell in love with the tartar and with the lingua, as well as the desert. I was expecting something a bit more exciting from the duck but I would attribute that to a personal preference rather than the chef’s technique.

Exceptional experience at Picchi. The service was very nice and the traditional tasting menu was lovely. Great wine selection as well. I look forward to returning.

No wonder about this Michelin Star acclaimed restaurant. Food is very good. The variety of starters, pasta, meat and fish options definitely will meet your “requirements” or desire. The deserts options could be better, you won’t miss very much if you skip it but don’t leave the Picchi without ask for an espresso! The Lavazza coffee is great but the pastries and fresh fruits that come with are AMAZING. Overall, it is a great experience and One Star for Picchi is very fair.

Honestly, one of the worst tasting menus I've had in Sao Paulo. I didn't even finish some of the dishes they were so bad, which is particularly sad at the price it is at. The food was very salty and poorly blended diverse ingredients. For example, the bacalhau tortellini was just overpowering bacalhau same with the polenta and bacalhau snack. Nothing new, unique, or creative about it. The balance in the mixture was very off on almost all the salty dishes. Somehow they even managed to make their chocolate filled with something taste bad. Ruining chocolate is a skill. The one exception was the scallop dish with shrimp which was marvelous. The final desserts were also good. No idea how this place has a Michelin star. If you want someone who artistically blends flavors eat at Mani or try Murakami. Plus none of the staff (that attended us) seemed to speak enough English to explain ingredients we didn't know nor is the menu in English - which is odd for any halfway decent restaurant in that district of Sao Paulo.

Some amazing dishes. I would recommend printing out the menu in english so people can understand more easily what they are eating as was not easy to understand what was being served especially when servers are in masks and face shields.

Wished the food was better. Ordered the bone marrow crostini as appetiser and was extremely salty and oily, it would have been better for this to be served with the marrow in its bone and the crostini separately - each bite felt that the bread was dripping in oil. The prawn spaghettini was very dry, it would have benefited from a lot more sauce, the pasta was very doughy and it was not the best. Did not opt for dessert and they didn’t have anything interesting on the menu, but for a Michelin star didn’t even get petit fours after the meal. A bit odd and it’s just overrated with the Michelin accolade, not recommended if you are expecting to come here for fine dining, casual meal is fine. Staff are friendly but they speak only barely any English.

Two of the dishes were excellent, the two others were good but nothing special. Service was good but not on point (very friendly but forgot to bring the wine). Prices are not too expensive for a Michelin restaurant in Brazil, but on the other hand i’m not sure if all dishes really are at a Michelin level to my humble opinion.

Yelp
We went for the tasting menu and each dish was beautifully executed. Servers were attentive and excellent, and spoke a little English which helped since our group could barely speak Portuguese/ Spanish. My favorite was the sea bass carpaccio and basil and lemon ice cream. They also served us lots of bread as appetizers and the focaccia was excellent. Overall a decent business meal.

Yelp
Went to the new location on Oscar Freire and was a bit disappointed with the food. The chef came out to speak with us and was very friendly. The staff was very attentive so definitely 5 stars for the service. The amuse bouche was very nice, a ravioli that was the perfect combination of sweet and salty. For an appetizer we had the egg truffled ravioli. This was the best dish we ordered. It is one big ravioli with the egg yolk inside and a delicious truffled broth, it was a perfect dish! We also had the heart of palm salad (nothing too special) as an appetizer. For main dishes we had the pappardelle bolognese. This was ok. The pasta itself was delicious but the bolognese sauce lacked a bit of seasoning. The other dish we had was the stracotto. The meat was unbelievably tender, melted in your mouth, but again was missing seasoning. It was a great texture but barely any taste. For the dessert we had the tiramisu- this was delicious! Overall, nice ambience but not very flavorful food. I don't think I will be going back.
