Piccolo Mondo Italian Restaurant

The food was all right, a bit pricey, and the service was all right. Would we go out of our way to come back? No. We walked in and were met with three younger employees staring at us, saying nothing and then turning around and all walking away, so not very welcoming. The Caesar salad was very good. The bread basket was nice - the olive oil was very pale kind of odd. The veal parm was a little soggy and didn’t care for the sauce. Chicken saltimbocca was very good, sauce was flavorful, asparagus cooked nicely, potatoes were a bit soggy. Our server was fine but not very attentive.

Was referred here by multiple people. When you think great Italian food you don't think Pottstown, no offense ha. This restaurant at first impression is gorgeous. They have outdoor seating. It's in a shopping center but feels very welcoming and charming. Service was great. The restaurant was packed yet seemed very chill and running like a well-oiled machine. Food was awesome. Bread basket was unique in that it had 2 thin slices of warm tomato pie that were some of the best I've ever had! Caesar was great, side of fresh pasta and robust gravy. Had the veal Milanese which was cooked to perfection and very crispy. Only thing was maybe the bruschetta made it a tad too tart, maybe also put too much lemon. Nonetheless, it was really good! Definitely coming back!

The food was amazing!!! The staff was so friendly and personable. It feels like you're being invited into someone's kitchen at home. I don't ever make my way out to Pottstown but if I did, this would be my regular spot. 10/10 recommend!

The food was tasty, pleasant to the eye, nicely seasoned. Our waiter Phillip was GREAT he needs a raise. The ambiance was rustic and cozy.

We had ordered entrees and appetizers that included crab meat. We thought our appetizer was off and knew our main courses were definitely off. We reported to waitress and the manager eventually came over to report that they had simply run out of crab meat. This was not disclosed and only pointed out after we questioned. We ended up getting a small amount off our meal but left us very disappointed in their transparency. Will not return

Our family had yet another private event here. The while experience is top notch! The owners, the staff, the event space, and the biggest star, THE FOOD! We highly recommend Piccolo Mondo for dining, private events and takeout.

There is no question, this restaurant is a must! Great atmosphere, great service….and the food amazing! My family is very picky about Italian food and this is the only Italian restaurant we frequent. It’s family owned and when you walk in it’s really like you’re part of their family. The food is amazing. From the salads to the tomato tower, antipasto, ravioli, veal, anything. You name it. We have never had a bad experience. Trust me, you do not want to miss out!!!

My husband and I had an amazing time on Valentine’s Day! We were seated at our time of reservation, our waiter was very nice and checking on us often. Food was delicious and music was lovely. I felt like we were in Italy! Highly recommend!!! Family owned and everyone so friendly! Photos only show appetizer and dessert. I had lobster ravioli and my hubby had spaghetti and meatball. Everything was amazing!

The place was packed making service a little slow. My server kept checking on me. The food was worth waiting for and they gave me some bread to tie me over while I waited. First time there on a business trip. Would definitely go back again Ambience wasn't bad considering the crowd they had inside and out.

Had to wait to be acknowledged at our seat. Approximately 20+ mins. Service once they figured out whose table we belong too, was good. Food is above average but lacks consistency and some dishes are just ok. I was moderately disappointed our first time. I was excited to get past the service glitch then let down on a crazy app that made no culinary sense. One app we couldn't eat that had to be sent back and couldn't re made because they said it will be like that again. Was a bad batch, not sure why I was served that to begin with. Give it a try, I think we had an off night.

We absolutely had a wonderful time on New Year's Eve last year! They gave us a great spot against the window for date night! The food was homemade and made with love, absolutely delicious! They support the community and offer help with families in need during this time that is so hard for many people to even feed their children giving them a holiday meal this year!!! To me that is 6 stars in my book and we will be back soon to support! I'm feeling the pinch as well, but I will take my date night to any restaurant who has a heart to donate and cook for people in need, especially children over the holidays!!! Bravo!

The food here is very good, but it's extremely pricey. It's a little too high for a shopping center in the Coventry Mall area.

The food is always hot and fresh and the service we get from Gabby is always fabulous! It's a nice cozy atmosphere with an authentic Italian vibe. Love this place. We try to go once a month. Nothing bad on the menu!

Piccolo Mondo is one of the best Italian restaurants in the area, and always filled to capacity and usually long waits. However ow the second dining room is open we didn't have to wait at all. Never rushed, friendly waiters and timely food service. Everything was excellent from the bread basket to the main course. The dinner was one of best veal dishes I've ever had. Perfectly sized portion and it was delicious and NOT overpriced.

This place is amazing! So authentic and delicious. Their white pizza is delicious with their ricotta. The hoagie we got was good too! The roll seemed to be a day old but that's okay. Service was quick and everyone was quiet doing their jobs! Highly recommend.

Love their food! Fantastic atmosphere. Takeout is extraordinary especially the family meal deal. Always a celebration when it's Piccolo night! Extremely friendly people.

The last 2 visits we were seated right away with our reservation. They were on a Tuesday and Wednesday, (both still busy but no wait.)The new menu has amazing upgrades. I had the best Carbonara I ever tasted!!! Better than when in Rome. Gabrielle was super sweet and attentive as always.

Great Italian food! Good service! Their AYCE crab leg nights shouldn't be missed! We love to sit outside because inside gets a tad noisy.

Noisy, tables packed together. Kids screaming, wait staff loud getting orders at other tables. Wait staff scattered, don't seem organized. None of our dinners came at same time and some that came weren't even ours. Food below par. Calamorie undercooked and tough. On many dishes other than pasta, a lot of fill used. E.G. fish very small portion and loads of tomatoes, and other veggies used as a filler. When a restaurant does that? Not good. Our waitress was flip when we asked for ice coffee. All we said was bring a glass of ice and hot coffee, we'll handle. Her answer? I cant do that, no explanation. Huh why? Never answered. The room was so packed not sure it would pass fire inspection for number of occupants. Very disappointed and wont go back. Not like original restaurant Il Trattoria in pottstown across rt 100, by same owner. We went there so many times. Such a different atmosphere and the best food ever!This one? All about making money not creating a good atmosphere, good service, and good food. Bigger is not always better.

The food was very good. However the service was so-so. We arrived at 7pm for our dinner reservation. We were seated approximately 30 minutes later, had no one speak to us at the table for 20 more minutes (no water, no bread...). Received our entrees at 8:40. I would not return if I had any timed plans after the meal. In fairness, they did have a large party in on this Saturday night, however they were seated and served before we had even been seated. Speaking to the service further, we did observe another table receive the wrong order and they had to bring it up to the service staff as they did not notice. My partner ordered the pappardelle, said it was okay but was bothered by the noodles being too soft. I enjoyed my drunken chicken parm. The portion was substantial and packed the rest home. The chicken was quite crispy, the pasta was perfectly al dente, and the sauce was delectable. The food is good enough to consider returning (if in the area) to see whether the service is better on other weekends

Authentic and tasty!! Piccolo Mondo is a wonderful, local find. My fiancé and I have eaten here twice and the food is a consistent 4 stars. But our service experiences were definitely different. On food- The bread basket! Carb variety heaven!! Love the selection of hard Italian bread slices, pizza and garlic knots. Yum!!! For appetizers at last meal (2 weekends ago) we had the Tomato Tower and House Salad. The salad was tasty, well dressed and crisp. The Tomato Tower is a standout! The sauce is superb. I found those hidden capers (usually not a fan) and ate them anyways. The tomatoes were golden fried and no sogginess. For entrees, my fiancé had the Chicken Saltimbocca and I the Linguini Pescatore. The vegetables were cooked well with the chicken and he enjoyed. Nothing to write home about but a good dish. The Linguini was cooked right, just al dente. All the seafood was cooked well, maybe the shrimp a tad over, but they were really large so makes the exception for. And Hello Garlic!!! I love garlic so seeing and tasting all the shavings was beautiful for me! For food, they are absolutely recommended!! And we love that they have partnered with our local Costco on gift cards- thank you!!! And to mention the staff here- they HUSSLE, kudos to them. No one was standing around and they were moving. Here's where the 3 stars comes in- We were able to make a reservation for 7:45pm (at around 4:30pm) that Saturday night. Wonderful! We arrived promptly and waited. Waited more.....finally were sat at 8:40pm. This doesn't lead very pleasantly, as the waiting area is cumbersome and being a BYOB it's not alike having a bar to hang around and kill waiting time at. So we were seated, great, now we were hungry- But not THIS hungry..... We ordered our appetizers and legitimately in less than 10 minutes our entrees were out. This was extremely rushed and then the feeling in being overwhelmed by food. Also leaves less than a made-to-order feel to the meal, if courses are being prepped and fired off so quickly. We still would have come to dinner if told to arrive for a 8:30 reservation. That would have been preferred. Will we come back- likely, for the food, but with anticipated patience in mind.

love this place, but we decided to try the Italian market and did not have a good experience. I came in at 3:15 and ordered a pizza to be picked up at 5:30 when I arrived at 5:20. The pizza was sitting on the counter and it was cold. I called when I got home and was told that I would be getting a refund and almost 2 weeks later and still have not gotten a refund even after I attempted twice to contact them really dissatisfied

We were celebrating my daughter engagement. Her soon to be father-in-law parent was from Italy. I was nervous because the food they make from scratch is amazing. So when the soon to be father-in-law praised the food I knew that it was good. The service was great and well the food was appreciate by all

Service was good I was disappointed in chicken dish. Was supposed to be a brandy demi glaze but it was a brown gravy with no flavor. Like what they would use for Marsala without the mushrooms. Salmon special good, just wish they would give you price to avoid surprises. Bread and salad good. Didn't have dessert.

The ambience is great perfect for families or a date night spot. Reasonable prices for quality food that tastes amazing and a wide range of options. On Tuesday, there is live music.

I have been to the restaurant and food is great. They just opened an Italian Market and their pizza is authentic to Italy! So many toppings and specialty pizzas to choose from! Our new go to for pizza!!

A couple of years ago, I wrote a very favorable review of Piccolo Mondo. After dinner last night, I have reconsider my review. First, the owner has added so many tables, you can hardly walk through the room. Most of the servers that had been there for years are gone. The wait staff is young and untrained. We had to ask three times for the bread plate and when it did arrive, the bread was cold and the garlic knots were terrible. My wife barely ate her pasta and my chicken parm tasted "old." This was caused by overused cooking oil. We only saw our server twice. The quality of food that we had come back for is gone. If you want quantity over quality, it is still your place to go. Sadly, we will not be going back.

Food was awesome! I had the shrimp scampi and it was enough for another meal. I have to say, though that I didn't care for the garlic rolls. They were quite large and not very tasty. Could use more garlic. I don't remember what four other people ate, but they enjoyed their meals. We all had something different. My cannoli was OK. The only other person to have dessert and enjoyed the cheesecake, but the pricey for the size slice. I do have to say that they have a gentleman singing, Elvis songs and Sinatra music. He was way too loud for the size of the room. The waitress was delightful and very helpful. I would definitely return, but perhaps not on a night when they had music.

I owe an update, as this restaurant has matured much closer to what I had hoped over the years. The food quality has improved substantially. Their focaccia/tomato pie bread is still amazing. Staff found their groove and are great! I still find the prices affordable to the area. Really liked the vodka/chicken parm dish especially. Only critique is that my pasta was drowning in sauce...which was delicious. Thanks for making this restaurant a reliable place to dine!

Love love love love this place. My favorite spot in Pottstown. They have live music Thursday nights. Have a few unforgettable memories with family eating here. I love there salmon a la grille and calamari. Their salads are great too. I'm not really a fan of Italian food in Pottstown because they have Italian food everywhere. This place though holds a special place in my heart.

One of the best restaurants in Pottstown! Good Italian food lives here, honestly some things were better than dishes we had IN Italy! Heads up this place is BYOB so bring a bottle of wine. Our server Phil (from Ireland) was the BEST. Attentive and helpful, plus gave us some great recommendations. We started with the infamous tomato tower; smothered in the delicious vodka sauce, and bruschetta sampler which was remarkably fresh atop perfectly toasted bread. For an entree my husband and I shared the Ravioli dish with a creamy pesto sauce and mushrooms (forgot the official name) and ended with cannolis for dessert (they come in a plate of 3). All dishes had a wonderfully balanced flavor and BIG portion sizes so you won't leave hungry. Our server Phil told us they do a lunch buffet weds and thurs that sounds delightful. Do yourself a favor and stop by Piccolo!

Some of the very best Italian food in this area! Service is excellent. Portions generous. I like that it's byob. Also try the Piccolo Mondo Italian Market across the parking lot for great take out!

Food is amazing! The neighborhood Taco with the dip is so juicy. The Pancho tacos are huge. The service is very nice and welcoming. The atmosphere feels like Thanksgiving with a huge family. We will be back again.

We visited Piccolo Mondo after our daughter's graduation to celebrate, and it was wonderful! The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. The ambiance was perfect, with great accommodation for our family of ten. Highly recommended!

Absolutely amazing!!!! Best local BYOB we've ever been to. Food was excellent and service was great!!!! We just returned from a trip in Italy a month ago and their food was just as good as some of the restaurants we ate at! Portions are huge & we both have enough left over for two more meals! If you haven't been-go! Their red sauce and handmade pasta is so delicious! The bread service had tomato pie and the most delicious garlic knots we've ever had! Service was impeccable. We were walk-ins and not only did they accommodate us, they didn't rush us. Top notch service!

Well, as they say fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Been here a few times, in the past 3 years. Last time was horrible. Steamed clams, got sick as a dog. Wife had fettuccini Alfredo, horrible. Many non Italian friends recommended it again, so we decided to go back. Staff is friendly and attentive. Food was horrible. Meatball tasted & looked like ground Alpo. Drunken chicken parm was soggy and breading was falling off. Gnocchi was awash in gravy, that tasted worse than Ragu. Our fault for going back, will never attend again.

Went here with a large group (17 people, ages 4 to 93) on a Tuesday evening. We had called ahead, so they had us set up before we arrived. Our waitress had water on the table almost immediately and took our order very quickly. When everything arrived at the table, it was delicious. Everyone raved about their food. There were so many of us that I can't even begin to post what everyone had, but I tried the fried mozzarella, garlic knots, salad, gnocchi in the rosa sauce, and tiramisu. And I was not disappointed! There's not a kids menu, but kids can order whatever is on the menu for $10. One of mine got chicken tenders and fries (which was a flattened, fried chicken breast cut into strips) and the other hot Alfredo noodles. There is outdoor seating, but we were inside.

Have heard lots of good things about this place, so decided to give it a try after being at the Flagship Cinemas for a movie. While waiting for the hostess to come greet us, I watched someone fill a squeegee with a window cleaner, and watching it spill onto the bar and floor. I'm thinking they probably should have filled that in the back of the house. Hostess finally acknowledged us and asked if we had a reservations, which we did not. I guess they now have a new dining area in the storefront next to their original/main location. Since we did not have reservations, we were seated over there. You actually have to walk back outside and head to the entrance next to them. It's a big open room with high ceilings, so as the place started filling up, it became louder in there. They were out of several dishes, including one my son wanted to order. We started with the tomato tower, which my wife said was good, and we enjoyed the fried mozzarella. They do give you complimentary bread and what was essentially tomato pie, but cut into pizza slices. Those were all good. The pasta dishes that we generally had though were just ok. The chicken in my chicken Alfredo didn't have much flavor. The pasta and sauce were ok, but nothing that knocked my socks off. Desserts were good (tiramisu, cannoli's, and cheesecake). The bill came and it was pretty expensive for a meal that we left feeling just meh. I guess we had higher expectations. To be fair, we did come home with leftovers, so we effectively got two meals out of this. Unfortunately, we just didn't see what all the fuss was about this place.

Amazing place. The tomato tower is a must-have. We get it every time. This place is in my top 3 for Italian in the area.

Met with friends for a 6:30 reservation. Stood outside in the cold only to find out others had a 6:30 reservation and they hadn't even seated 6:00pm reservations! I've been dying to go back to this place as the food was delicious! I was excited to share a wonderful place with my friends in suggesting Piccolo Mondo, but we left and went to have a lovely delicious meal and time at Coventry Pub. Most people outside were complaining. The gentleman singing Happy Birthday is very loud for such a small place. Why not some soft Italian music? The first time I came what caught my eye was the softness of the restaurant. I thought finally a great romantic, quiet place for a nice dinner. Now they have entertainment at dinner, who is very loud, walks around engaging people dining which makes people talk louder. I know some may like that experience but I think a lot more people enjoy dining and conversation, over singing and audience participation. I have even asked if they have nights when there is no entertainment and was told Saturday. Which is why we chose Saturday to dine. There was a party going on in the other room and perhaps they were getting all the attention and that's why the dining experience is suffering? You have to have reservations to dine there yet they don't adhere to them at all. I was very disappointed especially since I recommended this place and spoke so highly of the restaurant.

We were also there last night. (11/10/24) Line out the door. No body was moving. We had 630 reservation along with other multiple people.... No explanation from staff until another patron stated that she was just told that people with 6 o'clock reservations were still not seated! Again no explanation from staff to the people standing out in the cold. Not to mention having to listen to happy birthday blasting through the outside speaker! We went to the Coventry pub for a delicious meal, great service and no waiting! Do better Piccolo Mondo.

We had a reservation last night. When we arrived there was a long line out the door. We checked in at the desk and were told we would be seated shortly. All the tables were taken and we soon learned everyone on line had a reservation. The man standing next to me said he had a reservation 30 minutes be fire ours. After 20 minutes no one was seated, very few tables were finishing up. So I asked the girl at the desk how long would it be. She was annoyed that I asked and snapped back, everyone will be seated in a few minutes. It was obvious that they booked at a rate of more than twice their capacity, so we left after waiting 25 minutes and there were still 10 groups ahead of us and no open tables.

We ate at this restaurant for the first time on Friday evening...we had just gotten out from a movie and decided to head across the street to eat. Not realizing that they close at 9pm and it was 840pm already Luckily they were sweet enough to let us in! The restaurant is adorable and the staff was GREAT! Food was AMAZING! We will definitely be returning to enjoy again! Your kindness gave you a repeat customer! Thank you!!

Visited Piccolo Mondo on Easter Sunday. It was our first time there and we were really looking forward to it. The appetizer was very good. However, the entree was not. Two of us order ed one of the Veal specials. Highly disappointed. The amount of gristle in our chops was terrible especially at the price. In hindsight, should have spoken to the manager and told how bad it was. Do not see myself going back.

Hands down the best Italian food in the area. Actually it is the Absolute BEST food in the area, period! Incredible staff, incredible food and always a good time there. They have daily specials which are amazing, BYOB so you can bring your favorite wine to go with dinner. I can't explain how good it really is , YOU HAVE TO GO!

Traditional Italian family dinners. The bruschetta is habit forming and the penne vodka always hits the right spot. The chicken dishes all really shine here - parmigiana, Piccolo Mondo, and abruzzi are all great choices. Their feed the family meals are also great for those nights when you want to treat the kids and grandma to dinner. The restraint itself is lively, family-focused, but never overwhelming. The BYOB aspect also makes it a nice way of thinking enjoy great food with your favorite accompaniment, at a very reasonable price.

I don't understand why people rave about overpriced pasta that's over cooked and undercooked salmon was not impressed

Went for the first time tonight for anniversary. Everything was so fresh and delicious and portions were large. We started with the calamari and arugula salad. I had the lobster ravioli and my husband had the veal Parm - the pasta was super fresh in both dishes. For dessert I had the tiramisu and my husband had the cannolis. Everything was perfect from start to finish. Our server Philip was pleasant and attentive. Pretty busy for a Tuesday evening (good sign), but not too packed or loud. Great experience. What a gem!
