"Sandwich lovers flock to Pickle & Swiss for straightforward panini, melts, wraps, salads, and beyond. There are multiple locations, including one in Santa Barbara proper, but the Goleta location is the place to be." - Farley Elliott

Google
First time. Got the Roasted Chicken with Walnut Pesto. Owner was super nice. Everything tastes so fresh, bread was golden, buttery, and scrumptious. Felt like the chicken and pesto were lacking a bit of salt and flavor. But am willing to try other sandwiches on the menu.

Google
Absolutely try their sandwiches if you're in Goleta. I had their version of a beef dip, and it was totally delicious, a tad spicy but not too, the picture of a perfect beef dip. Inside seating on tables with benches. Big assortment of drinks in a nearby fridge. I'm not usually a sandwich person, but this is definitely worth trying.

Rachel Egyed

Google
5 stars for the ambiance, staff, and vibe of the place. Food didn’t live up to what I was hoping. We got the grilled cheese dip and the Venetian. grilled cheese was okay, not a ton of cheese and a lot more bread, ratio was off. The bisque was tasty, not sure if it’s just me but I love a creamy bisque, which is wasn’t so I wasn’t a huge fan. Everything was great quality (especially the ube cookie, yum) but I guess I just wasn’t a big fan of our chosen sandwiches. I’d return to try others.

Ray K

Google
Massive salad that was heavier on kale than chicken (it was still plenty of chicken, just not the idea ratio). Otherwise great flavor, albeit a little too oniony for my liking. I won’t knock the place entirely though as I will definitely be back to try a less healthy option. I feel like for a place like this a good sandwich could up my review to 5 stars.

Mark Y

Google
Not your ordinary pickles and cheese. High quality food with a unique flair can be found here and the service is always above and beyond. The Hampernini is a great choice if you're in the mood for a panini, while you can't go wrong with any of the soups or salads. Or the chicken. Or... well, just about anything on the menu.

Google
Photo speaks for itself. I also ordered tomato soup and got a random soup instead after they tried to hand me my order with no soup. Don’t go there. You’re better off just making this at home

Adam Warner

Google
I got their spicy crunch baguette, it comes with their crunchy chicken, spicy coleslaw and spicy spread. It is the BEST sandwich I have tried here! I added pepper jack cheese and jalapeños which made it that much hotter and better. It paired perfect with a lime seltzer.

Gala Gala

Google
Delicious sandwiches, tomato bisque soup. Everything is homemade with receipes passed down through generations. Great and fast service.

Yelp
I ate my prosciutto and Brie before I could even snap a pic. It's a perfect combo of sweet and salty and creamy with the cheese. I would highly recommend it. The real star was the customer service. My son wasn't a big fan of the peanut butter and jelly and as I was trying to order something else I was offered some free ham and cheese rolls by the staff that he absolutely loved. The staff was extremely helpful and understanding and I will definitely be back for more!

Yelp
Used to love coming here getting my usual Turkey Club. Recently though, they have been skimpy on their deli meats, especially when I ask for extra meat for $3 and them not adding it but subbing in some nice and thick bread to cheap it out. I didn't get a picture since I pretty much was done when I really noticed but the lack of meat and chipotle aïoli (their main sell for this sandwich) was sad. Paying almost $18 for a sandwich that isn't even made to the customer's order is outrageous. Inflation is one thing but basically robbing their customers is another.

Yelp
On a Sunday afternoon, I've decided to take my family out to lunch. My original plan was to grab lunch at a restaurant called Jeannine's. Unfortunately, the wait was a bit long and we decided to go a few doors down and try Pickles & Swiss. After my recent visit, I'm giving it a 2-stars rating, and here is why. Pros: - Conveniently located and clean. - The sandwiches are made with fresh ingredients as advertised. - Available seating inside or out. - Self-serve water station. Cons: - I won't say the service was horrible but the cashier who took our order genuinely showed no care. It is in the cashier's interest to be a little friendlier knowing they ask for tips. - One of the sandwiches we had ordered, "Build Your Own", has extra charges (baguette +$1.50, salami $3.00). The total for that one was $17.00. - Even with those extra charges mentioned above, the sandwich is light on meat. Imagine, all bread with ~4-5 slices of meat. - Waited 25-minutes for three sandwiches. - 4% service charge when paying with a credit card.

Yelp
Stood and waited for over 5 min to place an order while three employees ignored me. And never ended up ordering because they just kept ignoring me Just terrible customer service

Megan W.

Yelp
Great food! My sandwich was delicious and the staff was very friendly. I highly recommend this sandwich shop.

Paige H.

Yelp
One of the best sandwiches I have had around, thus far. The veggie boom was absolutely delicious and the basil tomato bisque has won me over wholeheartedly. I didn't know you could pack that much flavor into a tomato bisque. Just delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful and the store itself is in a cute little shopping area. The tables were all pretty dirty so be prepared to clean them yourself, especially after a lunch rush. Don't bother buying the $4 bottle of water in the cooler, as they have a little water area on the right side of the store. All in all, it was fantastic food, great service, and great atmosphere.

Lo R.

Yelp
The food here is spectacular and Angie is amazing!! I've been coming here for years and really appreciate the service, quality of ingredients, and bang for your buck! Delicious and again Angie is great!!

Yelp
Food: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Came here after dropping off a friend for college and saw this place on Yelp with promising reviews. Needless to say, it disappointed. My bf and I ordered the Spicy Crunch Baguette, and my friend ordered the Crispy Chicken West. We also got a cookie. The Spicy Crunch Baguette was not spicy and not crunchy, but the baguette itself was nicely toasted. The chicken was not crispy at all, it was bland and flat. The coleslaw was fresh but bland. The sandwich was just very one-flavor profile, nothing exciting in my mouth. Adding some sour, like pickled onions or jalapeño peppers would have been nice. The spicy sriracha aioli was not spicy at all, and I have a low spice tolerance. The server recommended us this one with a few other sandwiches, do not get this one. I had a bite of the Crispy Chicken West, it was the same one-flavor profile taste but just a BBQ flavor instead. The cookie was on the stale side but I could see the potential if it was fresher. The service was good, the server was nice and gave us ample recommendations. However, the food took longer than it should have for what it is, you just toast bread and throw some ingredients on it, no cooking involved really. We ordered and sat down, and it was probably after 10 minutes did we see our sandwiches being made. Makes sense if the chicken came out crispy and hot like it was freshly fried, but it came soggy so I wonder what the holdup was since the place was pretty empty. The ambiance is good, just a classic, normal sandwich place. The tables were pretty dirty. Crumbs everywhere. The restaurant wasn't busy enough to have someone not come clean them once in a while. Overall, wouldn't recommend any of the sandwiches we got. Maybe build your own to be safe.

Toshi I.

Yelp
Popular place. Friendly staff and bomb sammies. I ordered the popular Crispy Chicken West ad added avo. So yummy. Was enough to share. Son tried the modernized Grilled Cheese and Tomato Bisque. Plenty of parking in the lot. Highly recommend these sandwiches!

Amy F.

Yelp
Fantastic meal with friendly staff. I got the pulled pork slaw which contrary to other reviews, had copious amounts of tender pork and delicious slaw. I come here at least once a week to get this because it's so dang good. Pro tip - they usually have free pickle flavored popcorn on the side near the cash register. Super delicious to try as well!

Sarah L.

Yelp
This is an absolute must try if you're in the area! Not only is the staff extremely welcoming/provides amazing service, but the food is delicious. It is conveniently located across from the Costco shopping center and right off Hollister. I had the grilled cheese and tomato bisque which was phenomenal! You could tell it was made with love. I want to note that the inside seating area was set to a perfect temperature, not hot and not freezing cold that I notice in most places! I highly recommend Pickle and Swiss in Goleta for a fantastic time.

Bradley W.

Yelp
absolute best sandwich I've ever had. This food was so absolutely Incerdible! The overall ambience was also amazing as well. It's a very calm and warming shop with a big eating area. however I did have to wait about 15 minutes for me and my 3 other friends sandwhiches

Maya H.

Yelp
So so good! Came here while on a road trip and ordered the feta pine salad. Let me tell you, I inhaled it! The orzo salad, the hummus, the veggies, cheese and perfect dressing! They have a big menu and lots of options for everyone, they have nice seatings and plenty of It and cute little plants on the tables, also everyone is nice and friendly. Give this place a try, you will not regret it!

Frank B.

Yelp
I should have known when I walked in at noon and saw 2 people in line and 6 people sitting at tables with no food. Possible slow service???? The tables were sticky, obviously not recently wiped down. One guy running the register and a polite young lady making sandwiches for the takeout as well as the dine In customers. There was a person in the back doing prep work. I would imagine that prep work is best done before the lunch rush. Needless to say 37 minutes later I get my sandwich. It was an turkey with avocado. There was 4 small avocado slices the thickness of tinfoil. The bread was super dry on the edges as if it was toasted. The bread wasn't toasted just stale. I definitely wouldn't waste my time or money on this place again.

Ron Y.

Yelp
One of the best places for a cold sandwich in Goleta. I was happy to see they serve Boars head meat, one my favorite meats that I usually buy from our local butcher guy. Excellent customer service, the associate was friendly to all customers, the sandwiches were great, I loved Norms Cold the best and I had to try the pickled popcorn. My wife loved the sweetness of the honey gobble turkey, I thought it was unique, but we'll be back next time to try some of their hot items.

Breese B.

Yelp
The amazing baking smells grab you when you first walk in. The quality ingredients and excellent flavor combinations will keep you coming back. Really great sandwiches and really nice service. And the potatoes are amazing!

J S.

Yelp
Bad deal overall. How does this happen? They need to get this together quick or I give the place 6 months. Horrible service, bad food, and very expensive; a recipe for disaster. It will take 30 minutes to get a small bad sandwich on stale bread which will set you back $20. You've been warned.

Ruby B.

Yelp
If you want a super sandwich this is the place to go. Excellent quality ingredients and a myriad of choices makes the sandwich offerings fabulous. You can build your own or choose their house specialties. I ordered a (pole-caught) tuna melt on ciabatta bread. I'm picky about where I order tuna, but P&S seems like a place that pays high attention to their ingredients so I went for it. It was delicious on the ciabatta bread with its crunchy crust. The flavors and the inclusion of avocado made it special. Our daughter got a perfect combo sandwich with her choice of veggies. She loved it. Hubby custom made his sando with turkey, ham and provolone. He ate it all! Leann, the gal who we ordered from, made our day as she was kind, sweet, helpful, nice and genuinely a wonderful human being. We will highly recommend to everyone who loves great sandwiches and we will return!

Valerie W.

Yelp
Sometimes great Sammie's, and sometimes not. (Like, terrible) We've found huge inconsistencies in quality and paired with the fact that every time you walk in to the shop you come out smelling like greasy burnt toast...well we gave up. Too expensive for mediocrity. An extra point for how nice the majority of employees are.

Brandon C.

Yelp
First off, who runs out of bacon at 1pm? Secondly, stood at the counter, eyes locked on the two people assembling sandwiches and wasn't acknowledged once. Finally, one of them had the audacity to ask if I'm ready. YOU THINK I'M STANDING AT THE REGISTER FOR FUN? Otherwise, the place is empty (no wonder), tables sticky and the floor covered in hair. Loved my first visit but this experience turned me off for good. *last time I showed up at 6:45pm (they're scheduled to close at 7pm that day) and they were already locked up and lights off.

Bethany I.

Yelp
I agree with others that there is not enough meat on their sandwiches. I got the chipotle turkey and while it had good flavor the bread completely overpowered the sandwich. My other half got the pickles and Swiss special sandwich and did not care for it. That comes with prosciutto, ham and bacon.

Rae S.

Yelp
Had the chipotle turkey and it was incredible. Hands down one of the best sandwiches I've ever had, the bread was 10/10 and I'm not a bread person. Ambiance is grab and go counter orders with plenty of space to eat. People were nice and very quick, they bring your food to you even though they also call your name. Only con is I was a little shocked there wasn't a pickle served with my Togo sandwich considering the name, but it wasn't really missed.

Terrie M.

Yelp
The dining area was discussing. Looks like no one ever cleans. Dust on top of food spills. Sticky. Food soaked material bench along one wall. Food preparer did not change gloves when going from taking money at the register then back to making food.

Jake W.

Yelp
I am a tuna melt/ sandwich connoisseur. Tuna is without a doubt my favorite sandwich. Now that you know my qualifications to be making such assessments, I can tell you, pickles and Swiss has the best tuna melt I've ever had. They use local caught tuna with simple, but delicious wheat bread, avocado and tomato. I learned about pickles and Swiss about two weeks ago and have already had three of the tuna melts. Ok, enough about the tuna! The restaurant was clean, convenient and all of the staff was friendly. Also, they were pretty fast preparing the sandwich. I'll definitely be back here!

Lynn S.

Yelp
I really want to love this place after all I went there on a break between our games at a near by baseball tournament, and I was hungry. I ordered the spicy crunchy chicken sandwich. The bread was fresh and really good the the sandwich was flat no taste, bland. The chicken was dry, just very disappointing. The day before had a number 26 from Jersey Mikes sadly much better. I do believe this place can do much better, this was just my experience. Oh and sandwiches chips and soda, $22!!

Yelp
Pickles and Swiss in Goleta is a delightful sandwich shop that offers a satisfying selection of sandwiches and other tasty treats. Located in a bustling area, this cozy eatery captures the essence of a classic deli while delivering flavors that will leave you craving for more. As soon as I entered Pickles and Swiss, I was greeted by the enticing aroma of freshly baked bread. The inviting atmosphere, with its charming decor and friendly staff, set the stage for a pleasant dining experience. The staff members were attentive and took the time to guide me through their menu. The menu at Pickles and Swiss features a range of sandwich options, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences. From classic deli-style sandwiches to creative combinations, there is something to satisfy every craving. Each sandwich is made to order, ensuring freshness and quality. During my visit, I opted for their signature "Pickles and Swiss" sandwich, and it was a delicious choice. The combination of roasted turkey, Swiss cheese, tangy pickles, and their special sauce created a harmony of flavors. The bread was perfectly toasted, adding a delightful crunch to each bite. It was evident that the ingredients were thoughtfully selected, and the sandwich was expertly crafted.

Yelp
Food was great and service was fast!! The workers were very accommodating-- when we asked for pickles, one of the workers filled the cup up to the BRIM with pickles and then asked us, "Is this enough?" The seating area is also super cute, nice and sunny :))

Doug M.

Yelp
Took a road trip with my daughter visiting CA colleges. Started in the Bay Area and ended up in San Diego. While on the UC Santa Barbara campus she wanted lunch. Did a quick yelp search and came across pickles and Swiss. Pretty close drive from campus. I enjoyed my lunch and the staff was super friendly. Would recommend.

Jada K.

Yelp
Angie and Taylor have such amazing service! I went to the location in Goleta, and the food is so good. It hits the spot, and I 100% would come back here.

Simpreet K.

Yelp
The best sandwiches I have had in a very long time! Seriously, we were headed to the beach in Santa Barbara and decided to get some sandwiches for a picnic. Pickles & Swiss popped up on my Yelp search and we drove to a beautiful strip mall where it's located and picked up our sandwiches. At the beach, we pulled out our sandwiches and were very pleasantly surprised that they were fresh, not soggy, made from quality ingredients and the bread was so so yum. Here's what we got: - Veggie Malta Melt - Roasted Chicken with Walnut Pesto - PB&J (kids) Can't wait to go back and get my hands on more of that yumminess.

Sensei J.

Yelp
Sunday brunch time. Line too long at Jeannine's. Tried this for the first time. Food quality:A. Great Panini! Service:B. Conscientious and pleasant staff who were overwhelmed. 10+ min for one panini. Yes, we were warned at time of order. But, still. Please get your staff some help. Overflow from Jeannine's should be expected. Value: C. Sandwich was priced right but $4.50 for a small bottle of Perrier. Felt a bit ripped off. This could've been a great brunch spot if it had coffee and tea, and offered reasonably priced beverages. Has potential and needs some work. Take advantage of the opportunity that the overcrowded Jeannine's gives you.

Jerry S.

Yelp
Food was great!! I got the chipotle turkey club and my wife got the pesto chicken salad. Both were surprisingly extraordinary delicious. So yummy. Service was somewhat slow since they had one person making the sandwiches but we were happy it was so good it was worth the wait. Just don't be in a hurry, we weren't so all okay. Ambiance was typical sandwich shop with plenty of tables to spread out. My 4 stars are due to price. I had the smallest coke (no fountain drinks) of 8 oz for $4.50 and a credit card fee added. So beware. Food was good and $50 later we had lunch. We will be back.

Joyce D.

Yelp
Great sandwich spot. Unfortunately they were out of prosciutto. So I had to order their signature pickles and Swiss sandwich with a substitute of bacon instead of prosciutto. Sandwich comes with a slice of pickle. I must say that the baguette was fresh and had a nice crunch to compliment your sandwich. Inside the sandwich is pickled veggies, aioli, ham, and cheese. A minor thing that takes it back is the amount of time to get your sandwich. One sandwich meant the wait time was 25-30mins. It felt too long for a sandwich and salads shop. Prepare yourself if you're in a rush and need your food quickly.

Sharon W.

Yelp
This review is for the business itself. If you use a credit card to make a purchase, you will be charged a "credit card processing fee" of 3%. They do not notify you, ask if you prefer to use cash, or have this posted in writing anywhere in the store. This is frankly robbery behind your back, and they are clearly trying to pass on the vendor card fee onto the customers. I don't know why there are no reviews that mention this fee. When I asked about it, they said it was towards a "California Tourism Fee" which Santa Barbara is a part of. They then said every store with Clover machines around the area charges this - which is either a blatant lie or they are very misinformed. I've been in the area for a week and have made severe purchases in the 5 mile block. At no time was I charged a CC processing fee anywhere. I understand 3% of the price of a sandwich is not a lot. It's the principle of not secretly nickle and dime-ing all their customers. Imagine charging this hidden 3% on every cc customer that walks through the door. Now that's a lot of money! It's nice that they use the freshest ingredients and make awesome sandwiches. I just wish they applied the same honest principles to their business practices. I do not support buying food here until they are upfront about their prices. I won't be back.

Beth G.

Yelp
I ordered online to beat the crowds but I was the only one in the shop. The manager/lead guy was apathetic and unfriendly. I asked for no grilled onions, twice. Ordered potatoes which they were out of so he offered chips or a drink. Not the same price I paid, but no big deal. Also asked for horseradish on my beef dip, they were out and don't order because "nobody want's it." End result, extra onions and a lost customer. I never write negative reviews, but this guy just didn't care... too bad because they have good foodMeatball Sandwich.

Emma B.

Yelp
A must stop on our PCH cruise. Perfectly toasted, hand carved fresh sandwiches. The portions are shareable but the sandwiches taste so delicious you won't want to share. I recommend the All Day Brunch Dunch! It is *chefs kiss-* .

Jami N.

Yelp
Hear ye, hear ye. The long arduous journey in search of the holy grail of sandwiches is finally at an end. Behold the glory that is Pickles & Swiss! Aye the staff are knowledgeable and accommodating and the establishment welcoming and clean. Indeed the prices are wholly worth the treasure bestowed in exchange. But the SANDWICHES, the sandwiches are a gift from the tastebud gods. I was powerless against their mighty Reuben, which took me to the upper echelons of sandwich heaven, unable to utter a word, only the involuntary mantra of "Mmmm" sounds. So waste no time ye grumble tummies. Adjust your heading and make your way to Pickles & Swiss!

Jacqueline H.

Yelp
My sandwich was the roasted chicken & walnut pesto w/ cucumbers instead of green peppers as they ran out. It was overall a very dry sandwich so the cesar salad helped a lot - wouldn't get this sandwich again. My friends ordered the other sandwiches & there were no complaints.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Yum - love this store and the owner is incredibly friendly and helpful. They do a great job and the sandwich recipes show a lot of variety and creativity. They also have vegan and vegetarian and gluten-free options which I don't need but my friends do so I know I can come here and we can all be happy with our sandwich. I think you'll be happy with your sandwich if you go here. Thank you P&S~! Oh - and they have really yummy little tomato soup sides that go perfectly with the sandwiches. So good!

Lupe R.

Yelp
Service was amazing from start to finish! Super easy to order over the phone with Lala. The presentation and the food was delicious! Hire them for your next work gathering or even family get together! Everything tasted so good! Thank you!! Compliments to your whole team.

Joe R.

Yelp
always a great sandwich from both locations. It may take a little long because they are made to order and its a superior quality place. Service is always great . Friendly staff. I love the egg acado sandwich too . Lots of value here

Molly L.

Yelp
Meatball sandwich was delicious, highly recommend this little cafe for a lunch stop. Friendly staff (Andrew), great vibe!

Ryan R.

Yelp
This place never disappoints. If you're in a rush, this is probably not the place for you because they make a quality standard sandwich that always exceeded your expectation. I like both locations, but I prefer the one in Goleta over the one in downtown Santa Barbara. Service is great.

Sara C.

Yelp
Great service and the food is always fantastic, Mac was very attentive and professional

Andrew A.

Yelp
We were in town visiting. Our daughter introduced us to Pickles and Swiss. She mentioned that they had some of the best sandwiches she's ever tried. We wanted to try for ourselves and see what the hype was all about. Sure enough, she was right. The place is modern with great decor. The lady who took our order (forgot her name) was awesome! Super polite and helpful. She also checked on us to make sure the food what ok as we dined in. We ordered three grilled cheeses with tomato bisque soup and one Pot Roasted Beef au jus and it was delicious! I had a bite of the grilled cheese and I will say it's probably the best one I've ever had. But the Pot Roasted beef sandwich I ordered was amazing! The bread, the beef, the onions, the dipping sauce truly was delicious. We'll be stopping by every time we're in town. You should too! You won't regret it. I plan to order their Pulled Pork Slaw sandwich next time!

Taylor R.

Yelp
Food came super quick, clean tables, and great service. A young ginger girl with the bluest eyes ever took my order and she was the absolute sweetest. may god bless her soul.

Jack C.

Yelp
I just had my first experience at this restaurant. The ginger girl who took my order and served me was very nice and was a great worker. The food was great and came quickly. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to get a sandwich in Goleta.

Candice T.

Yelp
Delicious food options. Competent and friendly staff. Reasonable prices. And like giving non-chain restaurants business!

Kaitlyn Y.

Yelp
This is one of the best sandwich places in Goleta! I love it here. The service is wonderful and the workers are friendly and make your food fast. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot, and we always order our sandwiches and head next door to get boba and then pick up our sandwiches! The baguette with lettuce, mayo, mustard, cheddar cheese, and avocado is the bomb here. I 100% recommend this sandwich shop!

Gael K.

Yelp
I LOVE their soups! They are so fresh and made everyday. The tomato bisque is my favorite, but all of their soups are really wonderful.
