"In addition to the recently opened Cheese School cafe, Ghirardelli Square has snagged another new eatery: Pico Latin Street Food. Details are scarce, but according to Hoodline, it should open today at 900 North Point Street." - Janelle Bitker

Absolutely good well-made tacos. Locals and tourists alike will enjoy themselves with nice view of the bay. All you need to do is pay then take a number and a seat it'll be brought out. Depending on how hungry you're, you may need more than two tacos to be full then just wash it all down with aqua fresca. Some places are pricey, but the authenticity and craft is there.

Affordable, good food, beautiful view.

Google
Terrible service, first of all, my food didn’t come out for 30 minutes, when 3 other people were in the restaraunt, this place has bad food, and bad service, very plain and bland food.

Erick Swanson

Google
texmex and the setting here is above par. I was so full. The staff was very welcoming and observant.

Comida aceptable, precios elevados, atención mediocre, lugar sucio.

Yelp
It was good, but not great. Definitely not authentic food and very expensive. Customer service was pretty good though, everyone was very nice and helpful. We had the birria tacos which were actually great, but unfortunately it was the only good thing we had there. The rice and beans were very bland. We also had the queso dip as an appetizer and it was as if they just melted some velveta cheese and called it a day. Pretty sad queso dip. They also didn't have any horchata which was another miss :/ overall, it was okay.

Yelp
We came early on a Saturday night, which was nice since we were able to get seated by their windows. We were promptly greeted and offered waters, which were appreciated. We started with a coke and lime and a margarita. Both were nice. When it came to food, that's the only issue I had with this place if anything at all. The birria tacos were incredibly flavorful and stuffed which was nice to split between the two of us as we had other dinner plans. The only reason I took off two stars was because we were both grossed out by the chips that night. It was obvious by the taste and smell of them that the restaurant had not changed their frying oil for a while. The chips while wonderfully crispy had an incredibly old and terrible taste to them that required us to dip it Excessively and queso to try to mask the nasty flavor. I would hope that they are able to fix this as most of their appetizer choices revolve around their chips.

Yelp
In queso missed it, let's taco about the atmosphere, service, presentation, & food/drinks! It's located in Ghirardelli Square with lots of outdoor & indoor seating overlooking the sf bay. The highlight of my meal was definitely the shrimp tacos -- amazing & loaded!! I wanted more of it! Drinks are so well made and beautiful. Our server, Karla, was attentive, nice, helpful. I enjoyed the watermelon margarita; whereas, my friend liked her mango mocktail margarita. Loved the barrio trinity {salsa, guacamole, queso dip, tortilla chips} Don't forget to order the breakfast burrito! It's a hefty portion!

Kasey H.

Yelp
Honestly pretty good! I was weary of dining in a "tourist trap" area, but it was yummy food set in a beautiful place! Came on a Friday night and there was no wait at 6pm. They've got beautiful floor to ceiling windows (and a cute outdoor patio but it was a bit chilly) looking over the marina. Only wish it was still bright at 6pm because the view would've been so pretty. The tacos had fresh tortillas and were pretty filling. Yes it capitalizes on its locale to charge somewhat higher prices, but overall wasn't egregious and I had a lovely once-in-a-while dinner.

Yelp
Barrio is one of the best spots in the city to have delicious and fresh Mexican food with a side of Bay views! I highly recommend any and all of their tacos and cocktails! The ceviche and breakfast poutine were also delicious!

Tiffany N.

Yelp
We were craving Mexican food after the SF coffee festival so we walked over to Barrio at the Ghirardelli Square building. The food is great, but the portion is small and the price is a little high for Mexican food, but the view was totally worth it. The atmosphere and service were great. They were very friendly and the environment was nice. My sister and I shared chips & salsa, a burrito and some ceviche. The drinks looked really good, but we were too full to get any drink. The shrimp and fish in the ceviche was really fresh and didn't smell at all. Overall, the atmosphere wasn't bad, but you have to realize the area and not tourism and the cost of the dishes.

Tara E.

Yelp
Good service, we just went in for a beer and some appetizers. Nothing to write home about, but a great view and friendly wait staff.

Allie P.

Yelp
Came here with family after a game of golf. We had the little room in the back that had two tables. I liked this place - nothing bad to say. I didn't get to explore the entire space, but I thought it was actually bigger than I thought. They have a big outdoor patio space which looked nice and their main interior dining area. - Ceviche - Enchiladas Verdes - Margarita Pitcher Staff was attentive and brought out everything in a timely manner. It was nice to enjoy a margarita pitcher with the family and enjoy the food we all ordered. I would come back here again as I enjoyed everything I had. I think the margaritas could have been a little stronger - they were a little on the watery side for me, but I liked the food a lot!

Andres N.

Yelp
Great food, drinks and views. A nice place to stop by if you're in the area to enjoy drinks on their patio with views across the bay. We stopped for a mid afternoon drink and nachos. The outside area was very busy but we were able to grab a seat immediately at their high tops near the bar. Lots of daylight and fun festive atmosphere with nice views on a clear day. Colorful, fresh ingredients made the difference here as well as their delicious salsa options. Service was quick and efficient too. Will return if in the area.

Sam M.

Yelp
From the view to the food, you can't go wrong. Located in Ghirardelli Square, Barrio offers a vibrant dining experience with delicious Mexican cuisine. The menu features a variety of traditional and innovative dishes, including tacos, ceviche, and flavorful mains like the carne asada and enchiladas. Their cocktails were on par! Our server was attentive and friendly, and full of recommendation for the area. Definitely recommend stopping at Barrio if you're looking for a quick bite with stunning views of the Bay!

Yelp
I always wanted to try their food because I tried a drink from their menu a couple months ago. So when my gf and I were having a date out in Ghirardelli Square, we decided to try this spot out. We were seated at one of the high top seats near the round windows that look out into the bay. There wasn't too many people inside and the sun was out which made the view beautiful. My gf and I were seated pretty quickly. The host and servers were really nice. My gf and I shared the pickled veggies, queso dip, and plantains. The star of those appetizers was the plantains. I am always surprised to have things that are sweet and savory. I only wish we had more. My gf got the chicken nachos while I got the birria tacos. If you are getting the nachos, don't worry about the picked veggies and the queso dip because they pretty much add those onto your nachos. But having those extra pickled veggies doesn't hurt. It was very vinegary, which I like. My mouth puckered with each bite. My gf really liked the birria tacos. The meat was super tender. The consume was super tasty. You can't go wrong with the addition of rice and beans. Everything was tasty. My gf also had the Jamaica aguas frescas. It wasn't too sweet and too tart. I would've had another one of those. I definitely recommend this place for couples and small families. They don't really have a lot of space inside so if you want a seat inside, come early.

Niharika P.

Yelp
Went with a large group for a team dinner here, service was quick and efficient. Great view with patio space, food was surprisingly well priced for a touristy location We ordered chips, dip trio, corn and yucca fries to share and I got shrimp tacos. Food was decent and the non-alcoholic mango margarita was pretty good. They have a lot of options for non alcoholic drinks to chose from Overall - decent place to grab a quick bite with a great view

Samantha M.

Yelp
I was prepared for overpriced, mediocre food considering the tourist adjacent location and incredible views of the bay, but I was pleasantly surprised by some killer tacos. They've got a nice system where you scan the table's QR code to order on your phone. It's been hotter than usual this week so I thought the shrimp tacos ($23) with a watermelon Fresca ($8) sounded great. Each taco had two or three big, plump, and perfectly crispy shrimp piled high with tangy cole slaw and what looked like Serrano peppers. Delicious. Rice and beans were pretty standard. The watermelon fresca was refreshing. The table also ordered some chips and salsa ($3+) and Birria nachos. My sister liked her Paloma, and we all agreed that the house made chips were nice and thick and paired perfectly with the salsa. What a fun place for a quick bite and drink. Glad we stopped by!

Tracy C.

Yelp
What's not to like here? Beautiful view of the bay and tasty tacos with friends. Excellent service from our server Jairo!

Greg K.

Yelp
$7 for a can of Diet Coke and not clearly marked on the menu. And the server tried to blame it on "Welcome to San Francisco, where are you from?" Yeah I live here... nobody charges $7 for a can of Diet Coke even in this city, that's absolutely taking advantage of tourists and customers.

Lynn N.

Yelp
I came here with my friends on a weekend to visit Ghirardelli Square, and got a recommendation to check this place out! They had an ocean view, and we were also quickly seated. The servers were all so nice and greeted us. We ordered on our phones and the food came out about twenty minutes later. The winds started picking up, and we asked if we could be seated by a heater. The owner came out and said they couldn't move the heaters, but when a table nearby opens up, we can move there! The food was all so delicious. The fried plantains were not greasy at all. I really like the sour cream sauce and added extra tang to the dish. The halibut tacos were very soft and I loved the coleslaw that it came with. And I loved the enchiladas! It was so saucey and meaty, and paired very well with the rice and beans. My only complaint is that the price point is decently high for the portion of food, but this is more of an extravagant restaurant with great service.

Yelp
Thank you Instagram for these random suggestions. I usually avoid tourist traps like fisherman's wharf but the ad convinced me. The moment I stepped in, what caught my eye was a gorgeous view of Alcatraz. Thankfully it was a very clear day. Both food and drinks were pretty good. I can't take cilantro, and my request to remove or have it on the side was executed quite well. Usually, there would still be hints in the food. We ordered some chips and dip, birria, and tinga. Service was quick and not at the expense of quality. The cocktails were spot on. I decided to go on theme and order tequila based stuff. A+ for cocktails. Unfortunately, I hardly visit Ghirardelli square. So it might be a while before I come back next. Hope you guys enjoy!

Alisa B.

Yelp
Excellent food with a lovely view. Not your typical tourist stop! The trio of chip dips were all tasty, highlighted by the queso. Birria was tender and well seasoned. Drinks including the Jamaica lemonade were just meh, but drinkable. To top it off, service was super friendly. Beautiful views from the far side of the dining room and outdoor seating area.

Mahima R.

Yelp
In a touristy part of the city but definitely such a nice restaurant. The view of the bay is lovely and the service is quick and friendly. Drinks here are yummy, got the Bloody Mary and was pleased with the Bloody Mary mix. I come here pretty regularly and am never disappointed!! Got the chicken tinga quesadilla this time and really liked it. The blue corn tortillas are really quite good, and I really like asking for extra habañero hot sauce. I've also liked the ceviche and fish tacos in the past! The prices are a little bit high but I think you get pretty decent portions for the price. Nice polished cal-mex style restaurant. Will be back for more!!

Jason H.

Yelp
We came in on a busy Saturday with a small group for lunch. The service was friendly. The food and drinks are good enough where I would consider coming back. Obviously this place is right in the middle of a tourist area which means it's bit high priced... but what isn't overpriced?

Sayana S.

Yelp
Great place to dine at. They have a great Mexican food, good selection of wine and beer. Service all the time is great. They have nice outdoor sitting with great view, heaters provided for chill days. Recommend making reservation.

Yelp
I ate here the evening of 8/21/24. I had noticed Barrio when I was visiting Andrea's Fountain the previous day and thought it looked like a great place to have a couple margaritas and food with an amazing view of the Marina waterfront. I had lost my wife the previous December and I traveled from the Boston area to scatter her ashes at the Golden Gate Bridge - which was her wish. On August 21, what would have been her 57th birthday, I took a chartered boat alone out of Sausalito in the early evening to do this. Afterward, full of emotion, I drove back to the city and made my way to Barrio. I had wanted to sit out on the deck and decompress - but it was full. Inside, no tables for one were available so I sat at the bar. First, the food was excellent. I believe I had the chicken taco platter and the margaritas were also excellent. The atmosphere was lively and the views of course were extraordinary, especially it being about sunset. But most importantly - the bartender Jessi was wonderful. She was attentive, as she was to all her patrons at the bar, but beyond that - was keen to my emotions seemingly from the moment I sat down. I did share with her my story and why I was in San Francisco. Sitting next me at the bar was one of her (Jessi's) close friends whose name I won't use for her privacy. She joined in our conversation and I will never forget the emotion that this woman showed while she allowed me to share my story and speak about my wife. It is a remarkable thing to walk into a restaurant alone and meet two people who share such kindness and humanity with a complete stranger. Something directed me to that stool at that bar in that city at that time and I am grateful for it. It was a lovely meal in a beautiful setting with two exceptional people to help make it a memorable end to what was a very emotional day in my life. PS: when / if I am back in the city by the bay ... I will certainly drop in to Boardroom. :)

Yelp
I was at Ghirardelli square for a Yelp event but could not resist Barrio. The patio seating with the clear views of the water was very tempting on the beautiful sunny SF day. We sat down for appetizers and cocktails. We got the barrio trinity dips which had queso, guac and salsa. We also got the esquite and watermelon margarita. Everything was really fresh and flavorful and perfect for a summer day.

Cris A.

Yelp
The tacos were great. Fresh tortillas! The ceviche was ok. Server said best in SF but I wouldn't agree if I'm going to be honest. Their drinks were amazing! I loved the watermelon margarita! Service was busy but they handled it well. Only complaint is we waited for the bill for a long time. Overall not a bad experience for a Friday evening with a beautiful day in SF.

Ami V.

Yelp
Very good, I was recommended by someone else to go and I'm so glad I did I got the Barrio burrito- it's very easy to add meat or anything else you may want to. I didn't I kept it vegetarian. It was also a decent size, definitely filled me up. There was seating in and outside, it was a bit windy the day I went so we sat inside and it was super clean. Service was quick and our waitress was very nice and helpful. I'll definitely come back here if I'm in the area again.

Brandon A.

Yelp
Don't bother coming to this restaurant!! I've lived in San Francisco for over 20 years this is the worst Mexican food I've ever had.. bland food , undercooked rice.. very disappointing. so many other good restaurants in Ghirardelli Square don't bother with this place

Jenny G.

Yelp
Definitely a good option if you're in the area. The portions are generous, and the view is a nice bonus. However, it felt slightly overpriced. I had the burrito, which was flavorful, though the beef was a bit dry. The service was attentive and added to the experience.

Mike P.

Yelp
Visited Barrio for lunch during a recent 5 day trip to San Francisco. My wife traveled with me and she's great at researching good spots to eat. She found Barrio and I'm glad she did! Place is upstairs and has a fantastic dining area which overlooks the water. Decor inside is bright, fresh, and vibrant. My wife tried a few of the cocktails and both were delicious by her assessment. Our server had a warm and friendly personality. We hit it off with her instantly and really enjoyed having her wait on us. At times things ran a bit slow but they got really busy and she was serving so many tables. For those not inclined to chill, this could be an issue. We didn't mind as much being on vacation. We started off with the Yuca Frita ("Latin Fries") with hauncaina sauce. They also had a street corn appetozer special that we ordered. Both appetizers were excellent and our server suggested tortilla chips for dipping with the street corn which we got and that was a good way to get at the street corn dish. My wife ordered the Barrio burrito with spicy vegan chorizo and I got the Beef Birria taco platter. The entrees were fantastic. Great flavors from the barrio beef and the rice/beans that accompanied were also very good. We both are too much as we chatted and enjoyed the beautiful scenery outside. Excellent food and great service makes for a highly recommended spot. Will definitely visit again when back in San Francisco.

Ananya M.

Yelp
in ghirardelli square! for the guac + chips and a vegan taco option. beautiful place to watch sunset and munch on dinner :) def can get a bit crowded but i think our wait was like ~15 min for a friday night dinner

Melody O.

Yelp
Barrio is an agave bar and Latin food eatery located in the famous San Francisco Ghirardelli Square. It didn't take long for Barrio to become my favorite eating spot for Latin food when in the SF Bay area. Barrio has inside and outside patio dining and because it was such a beautiful day we opted for the patio dining. The bay view was amazing with Alcatraz being easily visible. We were there for a lite lunch but Barrio offers menu items for brunch, lunch and dinner. We were promptly sat and our order taken by our server Desiree. We opted for the Classic Nachos with spicy vegetable chorizo and the Esquite which is their off the cob street corn with queso fresco, guajillo, cilantro and lime. Within minutes our food arrived and everything was absolutely delicious. Desiree provided us with amazing service and even gave us some ideas on local areas of interest. The prices are very affordable and although we didn't order any alcoholic drinks, the drink menu looked to have something to please anyone. Barrio is definitely a place to stop and enjoy a meal when in the area.

Sandy C.

Yelp
What a fantastic view! We had eaten earlier but stopped by for drinks. All the food that came out of the kitchen looked delicious! The margaritas and service were awesome. We'll be back for food next time. It would be a great date spot!

Siya B.

Yelp
Ocean views, great food, and an amazing service! This place is literally the perfect date night spot. I truly enjoyed the experience and vibe of this place. Definitely recommend the Fried plantains and the Barrio Trinity dips for apps. The freshest guac I've ever had! Love all the tacos- I couldn't pick a favorite because all of them are unique and delicious. Also, the hibiscus margarita is a special you should try- flowers are dehydrated at the place for making the drinks!

Amanda C.

Yelp
This Mexican restaurant located in the middle of Ghirardelli square is the perfect place to grab some tasty Mexican food while enjoying a great view of the ocean. With tables both inside and outside, you can take in the breathtaking views around you while enjoying delicious food. This restaurant is not the typical restaurant style where one gives their food order directly to the server, but there is a QR code at each table where guests scan, place their order and pay all at once. The fresh blue corn tortillas were very delicious. The ceviche was also fresh and very tasty. Everything our group ordered was fantastic!

Ed L.

Yelp
$7 a Diet Coke with no refill???? Food was ok. Felt rushed until it was time to pay.....then big wait!

John F.

Yelp
Went to Barrio with 9 others over the weekend. Food was good/standard, they had availability to seat during a busy time of day. The pineapple margarita and empanada were the best items we shared. Burritos were good, steak was cooked a true medium and had good flavor. The challenge we had was half the food (one of two tables) was served 15 minutes before the other table. The timing was noticeably different, so we asked the server what was going on. Food comes out moments after we talked with server not warm/hot like the first food served, barely above room temp. At the end of the meal the bill was brought and a 20% gratuity was added to the 5% cost of living fees for SF. We spoke with the server, and asked to change the number to 10% because of poor service, and it became an issue. Based on service, and auto 20% gratuity, I would choose a different restaurant next time.

J. S.

Yelp
This is a bar first and restaurant second, although it's okay if you took it for a restaurant because it's pretty much what they're doin' the most. The kitchen is serving up overpriced, untraditional non-Mexican food because tourism and tourist trap... but don't write them off just yet! It's actually really great food. And you get one Hell of a view of the Bay as well. If you want authentic, closer-to-homestyle Latin cooking then you'll need to head into the Mission (and, even then, there'll be a touch of California to it). The plates here are... curated?... and maybe not quite what you're expecting but also packed with flavor. Meat options are narrow but prepared well; for the veggie-only people, you won't be left in the cold. If you're like me and crave spicy then good news -- the level is just right (it won't leave you with the telltale sniffles that traditional Latin food can sometimes provide but it isn't toned down for a wider audience either). Meanwhile, I can't stand avocadoes but I've heared that the guacamole here is exceptionally standout. The outward appearance might make Barrio look unfriendly to kids but it isn't the case. Totally family friendly. Might have to explain what blue corn is or why the cheese on the nachos isn't fluorescent orange. If you're local, this is a good spot to keep in your back pocket for once-in-a-while socializing or when out-of-state friends come to visit (and, hey, avoiding the amusement park that is Pier 39 in the process). If you're coming here on vacation, thank you for your tourism dollars because, as mentioned, the prices here are stiff.

Audrey P.

Yelp
Rude bartender puts a ton of ice in your drink and it doesn't bring hot sauce unless you ask only if you look like you have a lot of money and maybe you're more than one person here and don't get explicit about your visit because then they're gonna cry like little babies

Katrina L. C.

Yelp
I visited Barrio on the last night of my trip for dinner, and after a busy day. I was dressed VERY casual, and they welcomed me with open arms. I sat in the bar at a high top table, and could still see the beautiful views from their floor to ceiling windows. I don't remember what I ate, but I went with what the server recommended. Some tacos and a Hibiscus Margarita!!! I'm still dreaming about that margarita! Great food and great vibes all around. I would recommend Barrio for any visit!

Ryan C.

Yelp
Great Micheladas! Fresh salsas! Awesome queso and tortillas! Jim took great care of us!

Raja S.

Yelp
Shrimp taco: excellent. So good that we got two orders of this. More on the expensive side ($23 for 2 tacos) . Chicken tinga taco: was just okay. The rice and beans that came with the tacos was good Cheese quesadillas: my daughter who usually devours these did NOT like it. The service was top notch. Great views.

mao x.

Yelp
We were in the Wharf area and stopped by for a quick bite since it has good rating. Sadly, the food was very disappointing and would not recommend. We ordered the - chicken tinga burrito with guacamole - tasted and looked like something from Taco Bell - esquite - looked and tasted like yellow canned corn. Nothing special for $9 - hibiscus drink - too sweet - California daisy cocktail - was the only good thing we ordered.

Joe M.

Yelp
What a great spot. Margaritas were wonderful and the apps were equally as good. Best view of Alcatraz and Tiburon and Berkeley.

Avani V.

Yelp
Barrio is a gem tucked away in a corner of Ghirardelli Square. With a full-length window exposing a stunning view of the Bay, an adorable outdoor patio, and a menu filled with Mexican brunch and dinner food and drinks, dining at Barrio is a unique and delicious experience. I have previously enjoyed a dinner at Barrio but recently tried the brunch here. At 11am on a Saturday, we were able to be seated at one of the scenic indoor tables. I ordered the chilaquiles with green sauce and was very happy with the quality and quantity of food. After requesting hot sauce, we were provided with a set of 3 delicious sauces that I highly recommend getting. Great food, great service, great scenery!

Meagan M.

Yelp
Barrio is the place you go for the views of water, boats, and greenery from an elevated surface. With floor to ceiling windows in the most touristy part of San Francisco, Ghirardelli's Square, this is the place to visit, especially if you're coming from out of town. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and friendly staff that was able to get us a great table as a walk in on a Saturday. I love the ceviche ($19.95) which includes fresh halibut, shrimp, red onion, avocado, corn, sweet potato, and classic leche de tigre. My recommendation is to get this and the guacamole ($12). First, eat all of the ceviche with the house corn tortilla chips, then eat the first half of the guacamole. You'll find yourself with a good amount of citrus juice leftover in the ceviche dish. Take that and mix it with the remaining half of guacamole for a flavorful new dish! Note, the guacamole is small but it's meant more as a side or small appetizer.

Cece L.

Yelp
One review called this place a hidden gem, and after one visit I completely agree! I'm not sure why it took so long for me to hear of this spot. Not only does it have gorgeous sweeping views of the bay, the food is so good. At opening on a Saturday, the restaurant was pretty empty so we got our choice of a table with a great view. I tried the brunch special poc chuc (carnitas) tacos, and was so impressed. The meat is crispy and generous -- I like that it came in chunks since I haven't had carnitas like that before. The avocado added some nice creaminess too. We asked for some hot sauces on the side, and the green one (not spicy) went so well with this dish. I do wish there was one more taco, because even with the rice and beans that it came with, I wasn't super full. Overall, great spot, great view, great service, yummy food. Would love to come again.

Traechel M.

Yelp
I stopped in to have a bite to eat after walking around the Ghirardelli Square. It was a slow night so there weren't too many people in the restaurant. We were seated by the windows which is a cute and cozy view! Our waiter did come to our table within a few minutes, but it was honesty hard to understand her with the face mask and music playing. After a few minutes we ordered the Hibiscus margarita and a Barrio margarita. Both were good. We ordered nachos and added chicken. Unfortunately, the nachos came out somewhat cold. The cheese was barely warm and we didn't know we would have shredded chicken. They were prepared a little messy for our taste. It was a nice little stop for a bite, but the food and margaritas are not worth a second visit.

Amanda R.

Yelp
Great ambiance either inside or outside. We loved the drinks and the chicken tacos were incredible - will get a pitcher of the Jamaica Cider next time!

Kevin K.

Yelp
Went in Wednesday December 18th with a party of six at approximately noon. We ordered two pitchers of margaritas and three shrimp tacos. Service was good but the manager on duty was rude. We ordered our tacos the same time as the margaritas. After about 20 minutes of waiting for the tacos we asked the server on the status of them. He told us that they'd be right out. After another 10 minutes we decided that we wanted to change bars and told them to cancel the tacos. The manager walks out basically screaming telling us that they the tacos were just ordered 13 minute ago. That was definitely not the case. After we offered to pay for the tacos that we weren't going to eat or take with us he was rude, combative. He really shouldn't be in a managerial position.
