The 19 Best Restaurants In Calistoga

"Whether you’re staying at Solage, or looking to unwind after a day on the tasting trail, it’s hard to beat Picobar. Check out the woodwork on the walls before settling in on the couches with a glass of housemade sangria with mezcal and the whipped avocado with goat cheese. Move on to a michelada, a few tacos (we like the crispy avocado and soft shell crab), and the torta cubana while playing bocce in between bites. End with an order of the churros with chocolate dipping sauce, which will make you forget you came to Napa for the wine." - christina julian

Who doesn't love a world class luxury resort with a restaurant outlet that everyone talks about? Pico Bar highlights flavors from the Ensenada coast and the seasonality of wine county. Prior to visiting Pico Bar, I already heard so many good things. After about a year of hearing about the place I finally had the opportunity to try it out during a spa day Pico Bar is conveniently located by the pool and is open to the public. There is plenty of seating from the bar, seated tables and the fire pit. The bartender was so helpful and was able to give us recommendations on his favorite items on the menu including the drinks. Food came out quickly and I know this might seem basic but I really enjoyed the elote. The Quesa-Birra tacos were also a crowd pleaser. The hospitality was amazing from the team and just as good as the food. Truly can't go wrong with what you choose on the menu. The calamar for me seemed a bit overdone but was still a good experience. I think some of the items are a bit overpriced but the quality of the food makes it all worth it.

Innovative, delicious cocktails! I enjoyed the Elephant's Memory - mezcal, tumeric, & ginger. Quesabirria tacos & consumé were delicious with quality ingredients. Pleasant atmosphere on the patio in the shade by the pool. Friendly service. Great lunch spot!

Google
I had a great mezcal Paloma and some quesabirria tacos made with high quality beef. Tasty. I really disliked the A.J. drink, sent it back, they were accommodating and kind. The atmosphere was super cozy.

Our wait staff was absolutely INCREDIBLE! Their food and beverage recommendations were absolutely AMAZING & incredibly satisfying! The whole ambiance, especially sitting at the bar, was a whole vibe and definitely added to our overall experience! We will DEFINITELY be back again!👌🏾👌🏾👏🏾

A group of friends and I were at a winery a few minutes down the road and saw Picobar on the map. We decided to give it a try for a late lunch. We pulled up and found that it was part of a very nice hotel/resort. Parking was just fine. It was 3pm and we were seated right away with no reservation. Prices were inflated, since it was attached to the hotel. Our server was friendly and the food came out quickly. We split the chips and salsa, and three of us had the quesabirria tacos and one of us had the Al pastor. There were 2 tacos per order. The chips and salsa came with three different types- the green salsa was my favorite. So refreshing. We asked for extra chips and there was no charge. The tacos came out quickly and they were hot!! Definitely fresh. The quesabirria tacos were crunchy and the meat/cheese ratio was perfect. The consommé was pretty good too. I had a bite of the al pastor and they were also so good, the pineapple was very fresh as well. No notes! With the food being so good, we ordered churros to split for dessert. They also came out fresh and the chocolate sauce was balanced - not too rich. Definitely get if you like churros. Overall, the price is what you’d expect for a hotel restaurant. We skipped on drinks for that reason- but the food was good quality and the restaurant had a nice ambiance. Would recommend if you’re in the area.

Google
A wonderful place to eat in the most relaxing place in the area. We sat at the bar since the place was relatively empty but it was quite cold and the heater was on near the bar. The bartender was super nice and helpful. She helped us pick the food and wine. We got the fish tacos, which were amazing! Some of the best fish tacos I have had. The mexican street corn was also really good. We also got the bean dip and it was good.

Google
Small comfy place that is poolside. Wonderful place to pull up for a tasty lunch. Tacos Al Carbon are so tasty. The Chips and 3 Salsa bowl is enough for two people to share and leave full. The red Salsa is spicy smokey and slight sweet. Pico de Gallo is tasty also.I ordered the beans and they were a bit undercooked and not too much flavor but beans are big and filling. Esquites are a small cup of street corn with all the fixings but on the salty side** The FLAN is delicious. Hands down the best I have ever had. The thick flan with thick Carmel is just decadent 👌❤️. I will definitely be back soon.

Google
Giving 5 stars for the cocktails alone. Was at Solage and went to Picobar for the drinks - I was not disappointed. The service was great and the bartender was accommodating in regards to what type of spirit you preferred. The cocktails were delicious and well presented. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Wonderful service by a professional and very friendly staff! Relaxing place! Delicious cocktails and very fresh and tasty food. We absolutely loved the seating closed to the pool. Do not miss this place .. A GEM

Yelp
I had a solo lunch here and sat by the pool--it was absolutely lovely! The service was outstanding, attentive without being overbearing, and the food was so fresh and delicious. Everything was super clean, and the atmosphere was relaxing, making it the perfect spot to unwind. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
How can anyone give this less than five stars? I've eaten lunch there two days in a row and my service has been wonderful. I wish I could remember the names of people. Their chips and salsa are fantastic. The fish tacos are to die for. Amazing drinks selection!

Yelp
We came in for a late lunch and no reservations. There was plenty of tables but the hostess seem to be trying to figure out where to put us so I said we would sit at the bar. Hostess was happy about that because of all the reservations they had but the whole time we were there, there was plenty of open tables and when I looked online there was almost all reservation slots open. Bar was fine this line and had great service from the bartenders and the gentleman bringing out our food. My husband and I shared everything because there was so many things we wanted to try. Piconuts, Elote, Quesa tacos (tri tip was so tender), and the El Huarache. The El Huarache was probably my least favorite but it was still good. The drink i ordered was the Cabrera 1777.. delicious! Hopefully we will be back soon to try the rest of the menu. Oh , I forgot about the churros, small homemade churros that came out hot with chocolate sauce, can't go wrong with that

Yelp
Very relaxing by the pool restaurant. The staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu. Do not expect authentic Mexican food but it was very tasty. Started off with a kiwi mint vodka. It was so refreshing and tasty. We started off with chips and salsas. The chips were freshly made and crispy. All the salsas were tasty and even though they had a kick they were very good. We also got the whipped avocado with chips. It was slight and fluffy. The cotija cheese gave it a different flavor but in a good way. We got the carne asada with homemade tortillas. It was cooked very well it was very juicy and flavorful.

Yelp
Biked over from Indian Springs resort - so fun! Gorgeous patio bar, beautiful decor, super friendly staff who turned on the misters for us on a very hot afternoon which was so appreciated! Had excellent cocktails & small bites! Definitely recommend popping in if your staying in the area

Yelp
Had an incredible cocktail here, the Tepachaste. Not sure if you can dip into the jacuzzi or giant pool as a dining guest, but if you're staying at Solage, Picobar is definitely worth trying out for a night. We were Solbar-only until our fourth visit, what were we doing. The avocado tacos with chili oil and toasted peanuts were delicious. The ahi tuna tostada was the perfect accompaniment. This place is absolutely worth a visit. Plus, everyone here is chill, conscious, and kind.

Yelp
Ambiance is 10/10 here. Small but perfect for lunch whether you are staying here or not. You have a pool view. We had tacos and they were perfect. Drinks were made perfect and my mom even got a little buzzed after her first (she's a lightweight though ). This place is a perfect lunch spot. Outdoor seating only. Nice easily accessible ramp for wheelchairs. Bathroom are nice but the entrance in was a bit off for wheelchair- it was wide enough but there was a rug that kept lifting so it made entering the bathroom a bit difficult for my mother. Inside the bathrooms are very cute and match the ambiance of the restaurant. Highly recommend

Yelp
Beautiful place. Food was not that good. Bellied calamari tasted burned. Carne asada tasted a little burnt as well like if they used the same grilled of the burnt calamari. Whipped avocado was missing like and onions. Pico de gallo tasted old. Service could have been way better.
google avatar

Yelp
I saw the reviews about this place and featured in many blogs. I didn't expect it to be authentic Mexican but I felt this place was so-so. It's a very cute atmosphere and the service was friendly but I wasn't impressed by the food. The esquites were pretty good and the spicy aioli was nice. The birria tacos were not worth the price and were ok. I have had better. I think for the atmosphere and maybe some small bites this could be good but I was left wanting more.

Yelp
The food, service and ambiance were excellent. The hostesses were very nice. We were 15 min late from traffic. We called and the gal was super curtious. Our waitress, Leslie was fabulous, super helpful with suggestions for food and fun bar drinks. It could not have been better. It was our fabulous four girls luncheon. I will bring my husband back here for sure. Thank you all

Yelp
I had a good experience at the Pico Bar in Calistoga. The staff was friendly and the service was pretty quick. I enjoyed sitting by the pool and having lunch with my date. The food was good.

Yelp
Love the avocado tacos here. The salsas are amazing here. Mezcal focused cocktail menu. Drinks were delicious. Mexican lager on draft was great too. Small ramekin side of salsa are $2 but worth it. Bartender was very friendly and attentive. Great outdoor pool bar. Open to the public for dining. Definitely recommend

Yelp
This place was a great find! It's located within a resort, so we were a bit confused driving into the property at first. The place is beautiful, right by a pool and outdoor games with a cool ambience. It's a bit pricey for the portion size, but the food tasted great and the staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered: THE SOL ORIGINAL ($16 for 2) crispy, petrale sole, cilantro, spicy aioli, sweet and sour cabbage TACOS AL PASTOR ($15 for 2) niman ranch spit-roasted pork guajillo chili marinade, avocado crema charred pineapple, cilantro, onion CRUDO OF HAMACHI ($20) cucumber aquachile, mint, serrano chile, cilantro - comes with yummy tortilla chips CALAMAR ($15 for 2 sticks) grilled monterey bay squid, chile oil, spicy macha mayo ROSEMARY JAMAICA ($10) My favorite was the Crudo of Hamachi, the fish and the sauce were refreshing especially on a hot summer day and the tortillas were freshly made and perfectly salted. I need to go back to try the Duck Mole Tacos, Gulf Shrimp Ceviche, Tostada de Pulpo, Tacos de Cangrejo, and their desserts

Yelp
I wasn't sure about checking out a restaurant attached to a hotel, although this is a really cool spot. It feels quite fancy to enjoy lunch overlooking a gorgeous pool and beautiful mountain backdrop. We started with the trio of salsas and corn chips, as well as the whipped avocado. These starters were all shareable and was almost enough food for lunch. The salsas are a tomatillo avocado, pico de gallo, and roasted tomato + morita. The pico de gallo is simple and super fresh. The tomatillo avocado and roasted tomato were a bit more complex and all three delicious. The morita in the roasted tomato salsa adds a wonderful smokiness. The whipped avocado is a perfect light texture with added texture from seeds/nuts. The goat cheese and herbs add a great additional layer of flavor. We each also got an order of tacos: - tacos al pastor (roasted pork) - the sol original (crispy petrale sole) - chicken mole Mine were the chicken mole and the meat itself was flavorful with just enough spice. Honestly, I could have done without the rice. I didn't think it added anything and I would have preferred more pickled onions in the rice's place. I think the favorite taco on the table were my honey's, the tacos al pastor with huge chunks of grilled pineapple on top. I would definitely return for another round of drinks, shareable bites, and those lovely views.
google avatar

Sandra S.

Yelp
Food and cocktails were really good! No complaints. Drinks are pricey but unique. Fave is the Chaman with the burning sage and the Elephant's memory with turmeric and ginger was delish! Almost felt like I was drinking a wellness tonic. Hamachi crudo had a perfected aguachile with just the right amount of citrus. We also got the Al Pastor tacos to share and they came with grilled pineapple which made them very memorable. The bean dip was perfectly blended and the bits of chicharrón added great texture. Wish the portion sizes were a little bigger and drinks not in the $20 range. Tacos were a good size for the price.

Yelp
It was a beautiful, sunny October day, and had a lovely lunch out on the patio by the pool. We had the Whipped avocado and goat cheese dip, the Gulf Shrimp ceviche with avocado and cucumber. And then for entrees between the 4 of us, the Tacos al Pastor, Chicken Mole tacos. And Torta Cubana. Everything was excellent. Nice wines, and the Ultimo Minuto margarita with pink guava and lemon was really refreshing.
google avatar

Shruti J.

Yelp
Drinks were great and so was the food! We got the calamari and loved it so much that we had to order again. The whipped guacamole was so fresh and tasty, loved the sunflower seed crunch it had. We also got the Queso which was alright and ceviche. The ceviche here is not your average ceviche, it's so delicious! So glad we stopped by for lunch here!
google avatar

Yelp
Big heads up to know about eating here. We came in for lunch and they sat me and my dad on a couch. They said that other parties might sit next to us because of how busy it was. We were fine with that. Once we finished our meal, the server, Marlene, gave us the bill but it had everyone's on the couches meals on it. Confused, I informed her that we didn't know the other people and we needed just our bill. She then said that was impossible to do and we can all just Venmo each other and trade information!? I literally DID NOT know these people how unprofessional and rude to ask us to figure out the bill amongst ourselves as complete strangers!? The reason they do this is to give themselves the automatic gratuity. The meal was actually great we were enjoying our time there, but the set up at the end was not cool. The manager was very kind and patient he did help split the bill but made sure all three bills had an automatic 20% tip. We were more than willing to tip, however the way they go about it, is not ok. Really disappointing. DONT sit next to people you don't know!

Yelp
Visited on a Sunday, sat at the bar and it was great food, great service and the hotel is nice. We cannot wait to stay there! Yes this bar is at a hotel but it was easy to access and bar was wide open!!
google avatar

Michelle R.

Yelp
This place will go down as one of my top memorable meals! We ordered the Calamar, incredible! Best calamari I have ever had! Also had the queso with chorizo and chips, incredible! We finished with a large cast iron pot of carnitas tacos, which again incredible! Service was attentive, ambiance was what you would expect in a beautiful spa setting but with a latin twist. I felt like we were at a high end resort in Mexico! I truly can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
This place is fantastic. Everything we ordered was so flavorful and also very light so we didn't feel uncomfortably stuffed. We got the calamar, sol tacos and the ahi tostini. The bar has a lot of great drink options and the autmosphere was quiet and sexy. Wish we were staying at the resort. Maybe next time :)
google avatar

Liz H.

Yelp
If you're in Calistoga, come here! The fresh takes on Mexican food were all delicious. They had yummy cocktails too. We were seated outside by the pool. It was a pleasant, sunny day. We went for lunch and there weren't that many people poolside, so altogether very peaceful. Our favorites were the naranja appetizer, pulpo tostada, ahi tostada, and the queso. Actually, tacos al pastor were delicious too. Churros for dessert. Right out of the fryer, just delicious. That was probably our favorite meal of the whole trip through Napa/Sonoma! Service was terrific. I think our server's name was Anna, if I recall.
google avatar

Marilyn K.

Yelp
Loved everything they had to offer! Really creative and delicious cuisine. The squash blossom quesadilla was inventive for vegetarians. The sole fish tacos so yummy in soft corn sheep with a tangy remoulade sauce mixed with the purple cabbage inside. Yum. Lightly breaded only, and I appreciated that!
google avatar

Kevin D.

Yelp
We are so glad that Solage added Picobar. This is the perfect good weather casual but nice outdoor lunch spot to have a cocktail, sit pool adjacent and enjoy the gorgeous resort scenery. The staff is always great and my only complaint is the acrylic glassware - a pool adjacent bar necessity but it would be nice if for those staying in the bar area they could serve in something a bit nicer.
google avatar

Mel B.

Yelp
Calamar was impeccable! Great flavor and texture. We also loved the whipped avocado, ahi tostada and sol tacos! The cocktails were delicious as well and strong. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Picobar was recommended to us by the reception staff upon arrival -- after finding our rooms and freshening up, my friend and I found ourselves to be the only customers at Picobar under a toasty outdoor heater. The staff were friendly and attentive -- and there were some great suggestions for vegan options, including: - chips and salsa (and guac) -- really fantastic chips, thick, crispy, salty, super delicious salsas - so hard to pick a favorite - crispy avocado tacos -- I thought it would be crispy avocado (ie, tempura) but it was avocado filled crispy tacos which was perfectly delicious with a pumpkin seed salsa My friend picked a non vegan dish and was super happy with it. Delicious wines by the glass and mixed drinks (if you're into tequila and mescal - you may be quite pleased). I could see that this bar would be super fun and popular during warm weather / day time -- the even have paletas on the dessert menu. Keep up the good work, Picobar crew! We enjoyed our meal there and felt welcome.

Yelp
Great service ! I met Rene he has worked there for 21 years.! A very nice happy person. Enjoys the engaging with the guest sharing the beautiful ambiance.

Yelp
Love this place, best tacos I've ever had. Very nice service and outdoor dining area. Definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
Pricey, but worth it! The food and drinks were wonderful and the setting was so peaceful. You will feel like you're transported to a vacation destination. Highly recommend the tacos al pastor!

Yelp
We originally stopped at this place just for a cocktail before dinner. The cocktails and service were so good - we ended up switching our dinner plans and stayed. We got bean dip, tacos, and the choco flan. Everything was great - but our favorite was the avocado taco and carnitas taco. We sat at the bar and the bartender, Manny, was excellent.

Yelp
A cool hangout. A great poolside, island like atmosphere in the middle of napa valley. Good wines by the glass and you can ask for the SOLBAR winelist. Waiter was adorable, smart and caring . Food was yummy and exciting. A friends only bar . Don't go there if your lonely or alone. Or unadorable .
google avatar

Deb G.

Yelp
I felt like everything tasted the same. The guacamole tostados and tacos. All had the same flavors and so much cilantro on everything. Not a fan. It was a weird taste. The only thing I truly enjoyed was the ahi tostada. Also, everyone there needs a little more personality. The food runners just brought out the food and walked away. I mean maybe say what you're serving or enjoy. Something. The guy pouring me water, I don't know what was up with him. I won't be going back. Definitely not worth the price

Yelp
I'll land at 4 stars, I think it was more of a 3.5 though. A reminder you're overlooking a resort style pool, so there are likely people swimming and lounging very close by. It was a bit funny at dinner to have people at the pool a handful of feet away, towels piled around, etc. The staff is very attentive which bumped up the rating. The shrimp ceviche was surprisingly good and fresh, expensive at $20, it comes in a little cup-but we really enjoyed it. The Cesar salad comes with hot fried shrimp on it which was unappealing, the salad gets warm and I ended up taking it off and putting on a separate plate. I wish they had an option for a plain Caesar salad, I do think they need to put it in a different bowl and up the lettuce amount. The bowl is small and very round, I think a salad is best in a large shallow bowl/plate, for $22 that salad better be big and presented well. The dressing didn't blow me away, it was nice to have something crunchy and fresh though. The fish tacos were pretty good, I think it was missing something and you don't get much fish. I wish there was an option for grilled shrimp or fish on the salad and/or in the tacos. The churros were tasty, itty bitty skinny ones (smallest churro I ever did see) that were very cinnamon-y with a nice chocolate dip. Overall we were satisfied with our meal, had a nice time, and paid about $45 each with tip. I think the presentation and food could be improved on a bit, overall pretty good though.

Yelp
If your skin is colored don't bother coming here especially when the manager Justin is working. I'm spending $3/400 and being told my daughter who's 3 can't swim in the kids pool. I understand it's a members only or for people staying resort but let the kid finish in 10 mins then approaching my kid or her grandparents. This is absolutely sad and pathetic

Yelp
Napa Valley is obviously known for wine. But guess what? A rocking hipster mezcal craft cocktail bar with fantastic Baja Mexican inspired small plates is located inside the Solage Resort just outside Calistoga. You don't need reservations or be a guest to swing by. It's the coolest discovery I've made in Napa since ... yesterday. But still! If you love creative mixology & high end small plates food that is fairly keto-friendly, check out the hard working team here at Pico. If you're anything like me (14-time Yelp Elute), you'll be glad you did.

Linda G.

Yelp
Start with the positive: the tuna tostadas were delicious. The service is not what you'd expect from a 5 star resort. Our server had not been trained to read a table. Several times she came to the table and fully interrupted a conversation rather than observing that we were in the middle of a conversation and proceeded to launch into whatever she wanted to say. Additionally, it was incredibly annoying that a 5 star resort had zero herbal tea. Zero. How is that possible?

Yelp
As a Napa native, I love Picobar. They are consistently outstanding. Today's warm and gracious hospitality by by Eddie and Manny made us feel so welcome. Creating the most unique, artisanal cocktails from their extraordinary tequila and mezcal list, paired with Chef Rios' exceptional Oaxacan menu. I cannot recommend Picobar highly enough. The gorgeous poolside ambiance, superb food and beverage and outstanding service truly sets them apart. Thank you all!

Yelp
We stayed on the property and had otherwise a perfect weekend. Pico bar was the exception. After getting two spa treatments, I went to the bar for a relaxing late afternoon cocktail. The bar was busy, but that's no reason for bad service. The server walked past me three times without even looking at me, at one point he mumbled 'I will be with you shortly,' but again without even looking at me. Then he asked what I wanted and I asked for a menu (duh). He walked by another three times and did not take my order. I finally ordered at the bar, and was disappointed that because I had already sat down, the original server would get my tip. To make matters worse, he rang me up for five cocktails instead of three. That said, the cocktails were great, the bartender was nice, and we had a good experience our first night with a different server. To management, if you want to look up who our server was, we were in Room 218. It was my birthday.

Yelp
For two taco plates and a ceviche was almost 90 plus.................. ......worth it :)

Yelp
Was really excited Solage added another restaurant to the property; unfortunately it just wasn't up to expectations and would recommend going elsewhere given all the amazing spots in the area. Service wasn't great - everyone was nice but hard to get attention, all food came at same time (not spaced out), never got my drink and was told after asking 4 times and hearing "it's coming" that they were out of mezcal (also wasn't the case they just were out of the requested one and could have offered an alternative). Short rib tacos were really fatty and greasy cheese, fish taco was just OK (lacking flavor), whipped avocado wasn't meant to be its own dish for chips.

Yelp
The food is incredible. Drinks are yummy. The view is gorgeous. Great place to dine in Calistoga

Camila J.

Yelp
I had cash to pay a $60 bill I paid with $100 (2 of $50). The waitress brought us the change and she counted in front of me (that never happened to me before), she gave me 2 of $20 so I felt obligated to give her $20 for tip

Yelp
Loved this place. Perfect end to a spa day. Outdoor dining was a great vibe and the food was delicious and perfectly flavored. Margarita was the best I've had in a while! Our waiter was fun and attentive. Will definitely return.

Yelp
Delicious cocktails and food. We had their jalapeño cocktail and a couple other mezcal drinks. Great ambiance and service. Thank you

Yelp
AMAZING food and service!! Very knowledgeable about their tequilas. Al Pastor was a 11/10

Yelp
The best al pastor tacos ever! Everything I have had here has been exceptional. The outdoor setting is beautiful, outdoors, has bocce ball courts and an amazing ambience.
