Notable Seattle Restaurants That Opened (or Reopened) Recently | Eater Seattle

"The longtime savory-and-sweet pie spot opened another location at 7402 Greenwood Ave N offering seasonal selections such as peach–marionberry crumble pie and newer options like a cheesesteak pie; available for takeout and delivery via Uber Eats." - Gabe Guarente

Google
Like August’s review below I too ordered the cookies and cream pie tonight and am so confused by it - it used to be a white pie with cookie chunks in it but I too received a nondescript tasting brown pie (it just tastes like whipped cream) with chocolate sauce and cookies thrown on top. This is totally different than the cookies and cream slices I have had in the past from here and is really disappointing for the price. Not sure what’s going on at this place, the counter they prepared it on also was pretty dirty

Google
Just oof. Alright, so the pics looked good. We ordered a piece banana cream pie and one of cookies and cream. The banana cream was served as a liquid pile of slop. We returned it. The cookies and cream was delivered as a peanut butter and cream. Which in it's defense was structurally sound, and adequate. But still a little pricey. But technically not what I ordered. Ate it anyway. Mistakes happen. Why an individual would bother to serve that banana pile of disappointment boggles the mind. But dude was nice about it. Anyway, a well prepared piece was okay. But expensive. Maybe try elsewhere.

Bente S.

Google
First time customer. I was looking for a chicken pot pie. Google brought up Pie bar. When I got there, the guy behind the counter seemed really out of it. Pies were not labeled. Guy behind counter took a bite — yes a real bite! — out of the pie to confirm it was chicken pot pie and then sold it to me for $40. I was shocked but needed the pie and was short of time. Paid $40 and left with a pie unboxed — guy said they didn’t have boxes for “to go” orders. Brought the pie home and family agreed it was awful. We laughed about the whole experience and will not go back. If you purchase by the slice the slices are $15. That makes a $40 unsliced pie $90. I took a photo of the pie after the guy scooped out a forkful to taste it. I should have at least received a $5.00 discount, as he ate part of the pie.

Google
First, it is difficult to find the entrance & it is not clearly marked. Ordered a slice of beef pie and a slice of the chicken. The chicken pie was unrecognizable as pie. It was just a mound of crumbled crust with chicken gravy mush. The crust was good—but it ends there. The beef pie was worse—it lacked flavor and the beef chunks were the size of the boxed carrots and peas. The server was friendly and did provide plenty of attention. However, despite the friendly conversation, we will not be coming back.

Google
Disappointed to receive the incorrect slice. Ordered the cookies and creme and received some sort of creme pie with chocolate syrup and some cookie toppings. While the dry topping might've matched I crossed referenced to what the photo listed of the cookies and creme pie looked like, and it was very different. There was no whipped cream, idk if chocolate syrup was a topping for it, and the creme pie had no cookie in it. My guess was a chocolate pie? Whatever it was, it's disappointing- especially considering the price point.

Google
I loved going to the Ballard location, and was really excited to see a new location open in Phinney. However the overall quality of the pies and drinks has been much worse at this location. Last time, they also charged our credit card a higher price than what they verbally stated it to be. It's a bummer, but I'll be looking elsewhere for dessert in the future and can't recommend it for others.

Paige B.

Google
Really wanted this to be a new go to spot for banana cream pie but it’s not. Crust was stalk, no real banana and the slice was pretty small for the hefty price. Staff was friendly but took awhile to get a take away order. Two slices of pie cost us $26 BEFORE tip.

Jennifer C.

Google
Guys are friendly great customer service! Great pie !

Yelp
Wanted some dessert after dinner nearby and they had a spot for us here so we got a slice of pie to share. When we got there it was so so crowded but I just think it was because of one large group because after they left it was a lot roomier, it is a small spot so if there's even a couple of groups can feel cramped. Is a good spot tho! Pie and service was good!

Yelp
Got to Pie Bar at 5pm in the pouring rain looking to just take out, but they weren't open yet and waited till 5:10. Came back at 5:30pm only to see a sign that they weren't going to open until 6pm. I ended waiting anyways and order a slice of Chicken pot pie and Oreo. Both were ok but the chicken was lacking both flavor and sauce and really dry.

Yelp
A very unique establishment offering drinks and pie. The pie was delicious and the service was friendly and quick. It was a cozy little spot and I can't wait to come back and have the cookies and cream pie again.

Yelp
What a cute little spot. It is CROWDED!!! And it is neighboring to two other restaurants. We went to the one to the left of it first. Waited 40 min for a table to be seated and realize it was not pie bar. So we left and stood in the long line outside of pie bar. Just to realize the line we were in was just to go. To go into the sit down area, you have to walk around back. We were lucky to get 2 seats at the bar but it was hard for a few other people to get seats. There was 1 bartender and 2 at the to go pie window. It took awhile for us to order as the bartender was tending to drinks, taking orders, and checking people out, cleaning the tables, and bussing tables. Honestly, needed more people for the night we went (pi day). The food was really good though. I was not a fan of the arugula salad. But we got Chicken Pot Pie, Oreo Cream Pie, and the Apple Crumble (TO DIE FOR). I would go back all the time for that apple crumble.
google avatar

Lando T.

Yelp
I will say that the pink sign out front is super cute. The service to-go is a slow and it shouldn't take 16 mins to box 2 pieces of a cold banana cream pie. Sad because I really wanted to enjoy the pie. But what passes as banana cream pie can only be described as cold goo that is banana adjacent with the essence of sadness and despair. So the pros: cute pie spot and open late Cons: bland pie, over-priced, over-hyped, and better off going to another spot.

Yelp
How I heard of this place: On a whim, a friend and I decide to check this place out - she had been to a different location. Type of cuisine: Once inside the cozy, tiny establishment, we decided that dinner AND a dessert pie could not be resisted! A selection of sweet and savory pies (cobblers) are available with a side of green salad (savory) and ice cream (sweet). Ambiance: Dark and mood-y, a bar with an easy-going vibe perfect for pairs to enjoy a treat, a meal or a drink - or all three! The bar definitely takes up the majority of the space, with only a handful of stools at the bar, a small bar-height table with four stools and one table in the street facing front window with seating for about six guests. What I ordered: We started with chicken pot pie - amazingly flavorful, full of chicken and veggies and not at all goopy, then finished our meal with the rhubarb crumble and vanilla ice cream. What I loved: Both of the pies were perfect! Buttery, flaky crust, excellent, rich fillings and generous portions. Why I loved it: Friendliest staff, serving, preparing, checking in. They were gracious hosts and made us feel welcome and taken care of. With small bites of "samples" as we awaited our meals. The food was good to boot! Cost: High ($17 per savory pie)

Yelp
I only knew about the pie window, and have been missing out on the inside experience! Solid lateish night food spot (food till 1030, closes at 11, but don't be a and show up at close) This and the Ballard location are both the OG pie bar in terms of recipes and whatnot. Pies are so fkn classic and perfect. The prices seem off putting at first, but slices are large and come with a thicc side salad, pies come with ice cream. We weren't drinking, but great cocktail options and ppl in there clearly just there for the cocktails so that's promising. 21+, enter through the back in the winter while the garage door is closed. Can't believe I've lived in the neighborhood almost 4 years and never knew how pleasant the inside is. Warm vibes and personable service. Will be back for sure ‍

Joan B.

Yelp
Snohomish pies are so much better. Less expensive. We got two pieces to go. Our pieces looked like, what was left in the pie plate. Or that they dropped the to go container several times. Very disappointing especially for $23-$25 for Two pieces.

Yelp
Some friends and I decided to start our weekend out with an evening walk and a trip to Pie Bar. We arrived around 7:30pm Friday night, there were several groups inside and a larger group on the patio. We sat at one of the remaining tables outside. With outdoor seating you still have to order at the window, so be aware that you don't get the same table service as inside. The three of us each ordered a slice of pie and shared: we got the Peanut Butter Cream Pie, Berries & Chocolate Pie, and their Seasonal lemon custard pie. Each slice was served with a vegan vanilla ice cream. We weren't a big fan of the ice cream, but to be fair we were there for pie! The Peanut Butter Cream pie was the clear winner, rich and indulgent piled high with thick peanut butter infused cream and topped with whipped cream and chocolate syrup. The other two were good, but didn't stand out in the same way, especially for about $15 a slice. I will definitely be returning just for the Peanut Butter Cream Pie!
google avatar

Cyndie M.

Yelp
Really delicious pie but hecka expensive. Slice sizes aren't as generous as they should be for that price IMO. We tried three different ones and they were all delicious (banana cream was our favorite.) So this will be an every-once-in-a-while treat for us. Staff were really nice and service was good. There is a walk up window on the main drag with a dine-in entrance to the back.

Yelp
I used to come here often and their cookies and cream pie was always my favorite! I went back for the first time in about a year on Thursday with a friend and what we were given was terrible. Stale, soggy crust and the cookies and cream part was just white whipped cream cheese. No Oreos blended in whatsoever (only barely sprinkled on top) and the portion size for the price was atrocious. Took two bites and tossed the whole piece. Friend ordered the peanut butter and jelly pie slice and said it was terrible compared to the previous times she used to go there also. Customer service was very slow and it took 15 mins to box up two slices of pie to go. Was very disappointed and we won't be going back.

Yelp
I'm obsessed with their peanut butter pie. It gives me life. And, their owner, Natalie, is amazing!

Yelp
Y'all, we stumbled in here after a pretty stressful day and it was just glorious. The people who work here are such sweet individuals . What they didn't know is my friend from my childhood has been diagnosed with cancer and we were across the street cutting her hair off, we came in. We ordered sweet pies and ice cream and just really had a lovely time because they were so nice. I will definitely come back.
google avatar

Kira I.

Yelp
I've never had a savory pie as good as from Pie Bar. This was the Turkey jambalaya and it had a lot of flavor! It was nice that it came with greens too. I actually came to pie bar and took this photo on pi day, and considering the line was long and it was very busy, the service was still great. I ate outside in their outdoor dining area. Will have to come back next pi day.
google avatar

Jenna V.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this spot. I had the chicken pot pie and the monkey nuts for dessert. My group also ordered the mushroom savory pie, apple pie, and the turkey/rice/broccoli savory pie. Everyone was content with what they ordered. The savory pies came with a generous side salad including feta cheese. This time it was for to-go only, but we enjoyed using their patio. There was only one employee on a Saturday night. She did a great job keeping up with walk ups and to-gos. It seemed quite odd that she had to work alone during a busy time, but she gets total credit for how well she did. If I lived in Seattle I would be back.

Yelp
Best staff EVER!! Great little place with cool ambiance and yummy pie and drinks !! Carly is wonderful and very nice to talk to as well
google avatar

Yelp
I got a slice of their Sweet, Sugar, Candyman Pie (monthly special from October) to go. It also came with a side of ice cream. They offered vegan options as well. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The service was pretty quick, there was only one other group ahead of me. Definitely want to come back and try other pies.

Angela M.

Yelp
Everything was awesome! Love this place! Great atmosphere, great people, great menu, great pie!

Rosie K.

Yelp
Got three slices at the take out window. Took a crazy amount of time just to cut and box them between a couple young dudes who didn't seem to know where a lot of things were. Got home and tasted the weirdest and worst banana cream pie I've ever had. It tasted like straight whipped sweetened butter with a little banana flavor. No bananas, just this strange inedible filling and a stale crust. Other pies were a berry and an apple. Both had completely raw dough underneath the crumble topping abd on top of the fruit. I checked to make sure it wasn't cream or something else. It was raw dough. Put them in the oven to finish cooking and they tasted just ok.

Dick H.

Yelp
We bought 3 pieces of pie, the bill was over $40.00. Pie was good but we'll never patronize again.

Yelp
Came here on a warm afternoon weekday, so we sat in the pleasant outdoor seating area by the sidewalk. Ordered a couple pies and cocktails. Root beer float pie: Whoa, how unique! I just had to try this. Unfortunately, it was hard to taste the root beer in this pie. It was more like a chocolate pie but uh... that is something that would please my palate anyway so I can't say this was bad at all. It came with some nicely salted caramel sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream (very plain, nothing special but I understand you don't want it to compete with the pie). The pies were surprisingly light and fluffy so I didn't feel overly full afterwards. Peanut butter cream pie: This was for my partner, who loves peanut butter anything. He was quite happy with this! I tasted it and it almost seemed like it had a bit of cheesecake flavor, which I enjoy. Too many peanuts on top though, for me. This also came with the same vanilla ice cream as the other pie. My partner got the Jungle Bird cocktail which was tasty and on the sweeter side. I got the Almond of my Eye, which was so nicely balanced with sweetness, and a slight bitter but delicious cardamom tang. I loved it. The server was informative and very friendly. Prices are kinda steep. That, and the lack of root beer flavor in my pie are the only reasons I'm taking off one star. I'd still like to come back, perhaps on a special occasion.

Kyle R.

Yelp
Always out of Pie. They open at 5 pm, it's 652 and they're out of 3 of the 5 or 6 pies they offer. This is now the 3rd time I've attempted to get pie and they're either out of it entirely or they're out of something. Last time they were out of the compote and plastic bags .... Now what Reddit is saying about the construction having nothing to do with why they had to shut their doors makes total sense. How do you run a pie business and are out of the pies 2 hours after opening?!?! Make it make sense.
google avatar

Rachana R.

Yelp
Great spot for both sweet and savory pies! The Phinney location has nice seating and decor inside. Definitely recommend dining in as the pie is served with ice cream. Service was prompt and friendly!

Suncali L.

Yelp
I ordered a couple of pies to go. I got home and the pies were a complete mess. It was terrible to see. I am disappointed and hoping they do a better job preparing the pies to go. I had to throw away one of the pies. It didn't look pleasing to eat. Not sure if I will come back.

Molly T.

Yelp
I really like the pie . It is very delicious but the service is very poor and I have left half the time unable to get any. I think it is more of an organizational issue but it is still of putting to go out to an open business and half the time the staff is annoyed or discourages you from going inside. They really try to push the to go option. We have tried to use that but the service even when the line is not long is very very slow. They often run out I guess or just are too busy to serve pie. I am not sure why this happens since pie is pre-made and can be just served in a to-go box but it happens to the point where we just have given up on going here.
google avatar

Lucas R.

Yelp
Some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced from a business in the hospitality industry. We ordered two slices of a pie for which there was only one remaining. It was literally fine--we would've been happy with just the one slice. We asked for a refund for the second one, but were very rudely and unapologetically informed that the manager wasn't on site and a refund could not be issued. We asked what options were available. The lady rolled her eyes and hostilely said to choose another pie flavor. (They were out of most of them.) This woman could not care less if we live or die. No effort was made to rectify the situation. No apology. No attempt to feign an apology. Bad attitude. Bad vibes. Bad hiring decisions. Clearly indicative of incompetent management. And to-go only on a Saturday night on a holiday weekend? This place is an embarrassment.
google avatar

Paul W.

Yelp
We had friends in town and were excited to try Pie Bar. We stopped at the Ballard location but it was takeout only so we drove to the Phinney location. Only had takeout there, too! And no bar service. Ugh. We tried the pie and were underwhelmed.

Jenelle C.

Yelp
This place is really odd. We went here and it almost seemed not fully operational. They didn't have many pie flavors and when we asked about the savory pies, the lady working there told us she wasn't sure which one was beef, chicken or veggie as they're not labeled and it would be a surprise. We were wondering what someone would do if they were vegetarian or didn't eat beef? It was super strange. Also, this place charges a ridiculous amount for a slice of pie, it was $12 for one slice! AND the crust was stale as heck and chewy. Pie crust should be fresh and flakey. This place is 0 stars.
google avatar

Isaac T.

Yelp
This place warrants 2 ratings, one for savory and one for sweet pies. The savory menu gets a low 3. The flavor is pretty good but because they are premade and reheated, the fillings have dried out and the crusts are not crispy or flaky. The textures have congealed together and I imagine these tasted way better fresh when the crusts were crisp and the insides juicy. The portions are also awkward. 13.50 is a fair price for a meal but I'd rather pay 15-16 dollars and get 20-25% more pie. They're at an awkward size where you definitely don't want two of them but one isn't quite a filling meal. If you were planning to just come here for dessert however, the sweet pies here are excellent and don't suffer from the same textural decomposition as the savory pot pies. I tried almost every flavor with a large party and the bumbleberry and key lime stand out.
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
I need to know if a pint of beer here is always $10 a pint or what. Pretty unacceptable in my opinion, especially when there's no tap list or price menu. Hopefully, someone just fat fingered the price of the beer in their POS system and it gets fixed. I do consider the standard $7 pint to be a pricey beer, but that just seems to be the market rate for whatever reason. In no way shape or form is a Stoup Pale Ale that isn't icy cold worth anywhere near $10. Just a heads up for all those on a date night not expecting to cough up all their pretty penny's. Food is 5 star, service is solid, people are great. Lovely ambiance. I will go back, and drink their water.

Yelp
We never found this place.... GPS had us turning & turning, in a mostly residential place. Wish we had. Had to settle for Krispy Kreme...
google avatar

Lulu K.

Yelp
Bomb. Perfect combo of boozy & sweetness! Got the cold weather in GoT the peach rum toddy adding extra sweetness. And paired it with Ballard bumble berry and ice cream. Soo warm and soo yummy! Would come again and bring people. The waiter/bartender was really nice too

Joe P.

Yelp
Didn't realize they closed Pie A la mode on Phinney. After finding out, I found the Pie Bar on Greenwood. Ordered the Apple pie alamode. Wasn't very good. Had some kind of weird spice that turned me off.
google avatar

J K.

Yelp
Yummy pie. Great drinks. Nice atmosphere.

Kenny N.

Yelp
First time here and it was amazing. Chicken pot pie was delightful and the bumble berry crumble was very tasty. Services was great, very friendly and sweet, we got to meet everyone working there as well as the Pie Mascot, Lulu. Great spot to hangout especially for a nice late night spot. Will definitely return soon.

Kaia J.

Yelp
Amazing food and fantastic hospitality from the owners! 10/10 experience would definitely recommend :)

Alana K.

Yelp
I'm not much of a dessert person but had the opportunity to join friends here recently after dinner and drinks across the way. We had an awkward time trying to get into the restaurant as you have to go around the building and enter from the back. Not sure if you need to do the same for outdoor dining which is along Greenwood. Interior is classy and intimate with a row of tables along the south wall. I didn't order my own pie but happily stole bites of everyone else's (yeah, I'm that person). The berry crumble was so tasty, and the lemon cream was light and yummy. I didn't try the peanut butter cream pie but heard it was rich and delightful. Each came with a generous scoop of vanilla ice-cream. If I'd known about their gorgeous cocktails I would have paced myself earlier in the evening. Now I have something to come back for.

Morgan L.

Yelp
Horrible service on Saturday night. Even besides the lack of customer service skills, this was just a mean person who had no desire to be even the slightest bit understanding. Hate to give another 1 star review after the two previous to mine, but the management team needs a major wake up call if they think having someone like this on their staff is acceptable. We have absolutely no regrets giving this woman the lecture they deserved. On a plus side, the bar located right next door had wonderful ambiance and cleaned up the mess that Pie Bar made on our night!
google avatar

Patty F.

Yelp
Great pies from fruit to gourmand flavors. While I enjoy a fruity slice the portion is generous with a flaky crust like the bougie chefs that mimic your grandma's recipe claim as a must have. I love the ambiance when eating in and being able to take out a slice for car pie (pie you eat in the car.) Both places are cozy and warm in my opinion. Good for a first date or whenever date. Go with friends or by yourself. Just go, pie makes it all better.
google avatar

Claudine R.

Yelp
Always really good pie. Seems like less options then the Ballard location. We tried the banana cream and the pb &j. The crusts were both a little stale but the pies were really good. The banana cream tastes just like banana pudding. The pb&j is definitely peanut butter heavy but with some jam. Great service but I would go to Ballard for more of a selection.

Matthew K.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. Incredibly disrespectful and vile. Rang up pies before checking stock , despite KNOWING she didn't know how to refund.
google avatar

Victoria L.

Yelp
We came here for some drinks on a Friday night and they were delicious. You could not taste the alcohol which is scary. The drunken Munk was refreshing and I had two. My cousin had one with pineapple and she enjoyed it as well. The pies are awesome. We came on another night for that and we enjoyed every bite. We got the cookies and creme pie, as well as the apple. It was a great night cap and it included a scoop of ice cream. Thank you for delicious night time beverages and dessert.

Don C.

Yelp
How to do business with this place? Today is the third time I have shown up to make a purchase and they are not open during posted hours. I give up.

Henry M.

Yelp
They serve amazing pies there but you can not bring in children under 18 because of the bar and then they make you wait around 20 minutes for just a slice and they say it takes around a day's wait for a whole pie if you want one. Overall 4.5/5.
google avatar

Tori Z.

Yelp
Finally tried the pie bar now that they have a location in Phinney! It opened this past summer during the coronavirus and is designed to be for walk up takeout. It's a quick, easy, and convenient way to get savory and sweet pies. I tried the chicken pot pie for lunch - the crust was flaky and the fillings were well seasoned, but there were too many potatoes inside and no where near enough chicken and veggies. The savory pies also come with an arugula salad - I wish there were other leaf base options. I was also little dismayed that they just heated up the pie in a microwave rather than an oven, thus the crust lost a bit of its crisp.
google avatar

Krista R.

Yelp
We tried the peanut butter pie and the monkey nuts pie - both were delicious! The pies are light and fluffy so you don't feel quite as guilty about eating all of it! Also they come with a scoop of vanilla ice cream - I'd never had ice cream with pie except for fruit pie so this was interesting and I loved it! A bit of a splurge when it comes to the price for dessert after tax and tip, so not something we'd do often but it was delicious!
google avatar

Lee B.

Yelp
Friendly and good service, cute place. The banana cream pie is maybe 2 stars. It's a whip cream pie w no bananas and bland but does have a good crust. Oh well. The apple pie was very good It's worth checking this place out, IMO
google avatar

Robert L.

Yelp
"Wait...I can have a dee-lish-shush piece of pie, and a beautifully-well-crafted-cocktail outside on a summer night? I AM HERE FOR IT!" I've been to Pie Bar on Greenwood several times, and never been disappointed. The service is five stars, the cocktails are five stars, and the pie...I can't write enough about 'em. Even if you're not into pie (I've heard that those people exist. You do you, Baby.) It's a sweet spot (see what I did there?) to enjoy a cocktail. Stop reading, and go now.

Yelp
This place is delicious and hit the spot. I got a tattoo next door and it was everything I ever wanted and more. Technically they forgot my salad dressing and I could've knocked them down the star for that but I had ranch at home and it still worked. I got chicken pot pie with a side salad and banana cream pie. I ate a banana cream pie so fast I forgot to take a photo of it. It's a little on the pricey side but totally worth it. For everything I got I paid about $30. I love that it's a little walk up bar and they have outdoor seating but it was raining really hard so I took it back home.
